WANTED TO GO to panama canal for a long time. could finely afford it. i went with princess because the last one (15 years ago), the bed was more comfortable than the other ship. what a disappointment it was when i couldn't sleep in the bed. tooo-o-o soft. the food was not up to the standard i was expecting. everything had a price. surprised the toilets outside my stateroom weren't "pay per ...
This is the third time we've taken this itinerary on this ship, and we enjoyed this one a lot. The only downside was that the political unrest in Nicaragua caused the ship to skip that port and substitute Ensenada, Mexico. We enjoyed all the ports, and that's the main reason we keep taking this itinerary. We love Puerto Quetzal in Guatemala, and San Juan del Sur in Nicaragua.
The ship is an ...
We picked this cruise as we had done one like it on the Coral Princess. This was really disappointing. The food in the Horizon was barely palatable and almost the same every day. The food in the dinning room was less than stellar. We had been on the Grand in February and loved the food. Island needed a new chef or better cooks. Our waiters were the "do nothing beyond serve" guys. I had to go ...
We mainly chose this cruise because it was a round trip departing from Los Angeles (close to home), thus resulting in not having to be bothered with any airplane flights. Secondly, we had never experienced the Panama Canal and were extremely interested in this itinerary. What a delight from start to finish! Embarkation was smooth and easy, room was ready upon boarding! Luggage was delivered ...
Safety issues first. This staff's response to safety concerns is woefully inadequate! I called from my stateroom to report smelling smoke in the hallway. I waited in the hall for 11(eleven) minutes. No one appeared. I called the front desk again, and three minutes later a front desk clerk arrived, followed by one person who appeared to be an engineer. Neither appeared to be in a hurry and seemed ...
My husband chose this Island Princess cruise due to the fact that the ship sails through the Panama Canal. There is so much history with this canal, it would be wise to do some research on a web site or book(s) before depature so you have knowledge of how this canal came to be to and is utilized.
Passengers can take advantage of a wide range of physical activites including dance lessons ...
It was a 15 days cruise to some places we'd never been. We traveled with another couple and we all decided this would be a nice cruise.
We will never take the Island Princess again, it is quite old, has added too many rooms for the facilities (gym, all dining rooms, loungers, pool), everything is overwhelmed by the number of guests. I've never been on a ship that had an old cabbage (or worse) ...
Enjoy cruising with Princess and the Island Princess was our choice! The ports and the Panama Canal was our dream/bucket list!
We were lucky enough to be upgraded for a minimal charge to a mini suite and what a wonderful experience that was! The beds were really comfortable and the sofa was comfortable to sit and relax on! We really enjoyed the cabin.
Overall it was wonderful with 6 ports! ...
This was our first cruise, I wanted to see the Panama Canal. We enjoyed the cruise. The crew were friendly and courteous. As first-time cruisers, we came aboard with questions we couldn't get answered from the web site. What beverages are included? Never saw where milk was free, and didn't find out for a couple of days. We walked on board, and had no idea where to go or what to do. We didn't know ...
We chose this cruise to experience the Panama Canal "Ocean to Ocean" excursion- It was amazing in every aspect. The Ports of Call were also excellent; we had a great time in each port (short as some days were). As far as the Island Princess, we had no major complaints. You've most likely heard they "modified" it awhile back and added more cabins at the expense of losing the part of the ...
