our stwerd was awesome. He there when we needed something. Said hi in hall and talked with us. The Buffet was okay. Lots of food from different countries. Not my kind of food so I just picked. Breakfast was the same old thing and the bakery was the same at breakfast. Lunch and dinner bakery was great. Main room dining was good. Photographer they know their job. They do great shots. I loved all my 129 pictures. Get the photo package be you sail. Save $50. Do all shot and have fun with them. This cruise did not have very many kids on board. You only see them at food time. The shore excursions was good. Grand tuck stay away from the town tour with lighthouse. Big disappointment. Shop around ship or do water trips. Pamama canal going thought locks was awesome. tour after to see new locks pamama city and ride old train back to ship. Have to do it. Pools and hot tub very relaxing Try out spa. Got good programs. Getting on and getting off ship was very smooth from Fort Lauderdale fl. We carry-on our luggage. Bags 24 and 28 inch and two smaller one too. Long drive from lubbock tx. Two day drive. 3600 mile around trip. Nice drive if you have time. Oh yes!! Holiday Inn express off of us 84 and I 595 just 10 minutes from ship. Read Less

I chose this cruise as I thought my husband would enjoy the Panama Canal. It was great! I was a little worried about reviews complaining about the ship. Do not believe these reviews. It was just fine. I’m sure there are ships out there that are more glamorous but Island Princess was great. Excursions are too expensive on ship. We waited and got tours off ship except in Jamaica and saved money. Following are ones we took and highly recommend all of them. In Turks & Caicos - www.islandtrams.com, Island Trams, 42 Front Street, Grand Turks & Caicos 649-432-TRAM. In Cartagena - rouscartagena09@hotmail.com. In Costa Rica - Oregon Tours with Christian Robinson - Highly recommend you request Christian. We just got off ship and got our tours with groups that will be right there as you get off ship. We were very pleased with all the tours we had. Disembarkation was great. We walked right on ship. No waiting. I think they need more signs however in regards to where to leave luggage if you’re not carrying on board. Also signs on how to get to parking and which way to go to get on ship. We were early to board but our room was ready shortly after we boarded. Disembarkation was smooth and quick. Chose to carry our luggage off ourselves and recommend this if possible. No waiting at all. The service in the dining room was great. My husband is lactose intolerant and he just mentioned it to our waiter and the head waiter was right there talking to him. They had him fill out a menu each night for the next night so they could be sure no milk products in it. The chef made special desserts for him that were great. Our cabin was comfortable and service great. Loved our bed. We have always gotten inside cabins and very pleased with them. Gone from the cabin most of the time so we don’t need the balcony. Entertainment was excellent. Enjoyed it each night. The regulars on ship were outstanding. Great voices. One complaint would be people who put their towels on lounge chair and leaving them there all day so many people don’t get a turn. Have a great cruise! Read Less

First and foremost it was a great cruise. Any criticism I have here should be taken lightly as I consider it very minor. We chose this cruise for the itinerary, Princess was the only cruise line that had the dates we wanted and ports we had never been to. We are four time Carnival cruisers and had heard good things about Princess so why not. The staff was wonderful, as they have been on every cruise we have been on. The food was really good, on par with Carnival. Naturally we liked some dishes better than others (depends on your taste) but all really good quality and quantity. Good selection in the dining rooms and great selection in the Horizon buffet. I highly recommend the Bayou Cafe, my wife and I thought it was the best steak filet we have ever had. Service there was great as well. Just a warning about anytime dining, they allow reservations which defeats the purpose in my opinion because it now ties a table to a time. If you don’t get there by 5:30 or after 8 you are going to wait (they’ll give you a pager). We never had to wait a long time but it’s annoying watching people get there after you go in before you. There was lineups to get in the Horizon Court but that was due to a continuing Norovirus outbreak so you had to wash your hands before going in (and shame on the people that sneak around the line and claim they just washed their hands). Also due to this they had to serve everything to you in the buffet which slowed things down a bit but I was grateful because we didn’t catch anything. Don’t base your decision to go on this because it was not a normal situation (it had been eradicated by the end of the cruise). As another reviewer said, there was definitely an older crowd on this ship. We are also early 60’s and felt like we were part of the youngest group aboard, I suspect a lot of the negative reviews are due to the older demographic. Yes the ship is smaller than the newer ones but it has to go through the Panama Canal. It never felt overcrowded though, there are the usual people that stake out loungers first thing in the morning and then come back 2 hours later but we always managed to get a spot we liked. Getting a table in the Horizon Buffet at peak times was a challenge but that’s to be expected if everyone goes at the same time. Entertainment was good in the theatre, again catering to an older crowd. Most of it not my thing but it was very well done. Get there early though, it’s full 15 minutes before showtime. We thought there could have been more deck entertainment but again, older crowd, so they could be keeping it sparse for them and there was always something on the movie screen (we saw 4 good movies while sunbathing). To be fair, on the first sea day they tried to get people to join the Hairy Legs competition and not one person volunteered. Different story on the last sea day, they got 8 contestants, and later an impromptu beach ball game broke out in the pool. There is also another pool with a retractable roof that they don’t open, we went in there once to get out of the blazing sun and it was ok but it’s an indoor pool so I’ll leave it at that. Ports and excursions were great. You have to bear in mind that most of the stops are industrial ports so if you don’t do an excursion you’re not going to see much. Grand Turk was excellent, no excursion required. We lucked out as we were the only ship that day so it wasn’t crowded. Tropical paradise with Jimmy Buffet drinks! (By the way you can research how many ships will be in a particular port each day on line, just google “ship port calendar”) We took the bus/walking tour in Cartegena which was really good. The street vendors really pester you but you just have to be patient and keep saying no thank you (they would usually leave and then come back 2 minutes later, but hey, they’re just trying to eke out a living). Some of them were quite comical and give you a laugh during their efforts. The city is beautiful and full of history. The Panama Canal is amazing! We got to the front observation deck at 6 am and stood mesmerized for the next 3 and a half hours. We felt we didn’t need to do an excursion there as the canal transit was the attraction for us. We stopped in Colon after we came out and there wasn’t much there but it didn’t matter as the transit itself was our day’s excursion. After seeing not much in Colon we booked the Bus/boat/rainforest walk excursion in Limon. Amazing. Think Disney Jungle Cruise but for real. Saw a Toucan, Sloths, Jesus Christ Lizards, Iguanas, Howler Monkeys, Poison Dart frogs and the Coast Guard station with a confiscated drug runner boat. We did Dunn’s River falls and the Bamboo Beach VIP excursion in Ocho Rios. Again excellent. If your knees and heart can handle some exersize, go for it, it was a lot of fun. The Beach club was not what I expected, it’s a little rustic, but we walked out of there a little wobbly from the free drinks and so full we couldn’t go to the dining room that night. Two observations: we thought the rum drinks tasted like plastic from the coolers at first until I realized it was Appleton’s rum we were tasting; and the difference between the VIP and the regular excursion is that they serve you food and drinks instead of having to get them yourself. All three excursions we took had excellent guides and were well worth it. I also want to mention that the embarkation/debarkation/transfer were the smoothest we have ever experienced. So all that said, I would highly recommend this cruise and I hope this helps your decision. Read Less

Every part of our Panama Canal cruise experience met or exceeded our expectations. Both the embarkation and disembarkation processes were seemless and simple. Our stateroom adequatley met our needs and our steward Michelle made sure we were well cared for every day. The Horizon Court breakfast and lunch dining options were amazing. We sampled all sorts of dining delicacies and ulimately overate at every meal. We enjoyed our evening dining very much. We went to the scheduled production show every night of the cruise. All of the shows were exceptionally well done and the entertainment value was consistently high. We frequently discussed the shows we had seen while on the cruise and we still do since coming home. Our shore excursions all were informative and entertaining. Going through the Panama Canal locks was a real bucket list experience. The canal is truly one of the greatest engineering marvels of all time. Our favorite excursion otherwise was the day on Grand Caiman...fish and reef viewing in a semi-sub, visiting the turtle center, and going to Hell and back. What a great cruise it was and full of life lasting memories. Read Less

Fantastic experience! Stateroom was beautiful but I can confirm the vibration is excessive, even for an aft stateroom. However, the overall quality of the room and that balcony during the transit far outweighed the vibration being a problem. Would book it again in a heartbeat. Balcony dinner was FANTASTIC. Club Class dining was wonderful and we were able to have the same server every night and never a wait. They accommodated my no dairy / no gluten needs without a problem. I found the food to be exceptional. Canal transit was the highlight for sure. We opted to stay on board instead of doing an excursion and watched the transit from our aft balcony going into Gatun and then from deck 11 forward leaving Gatun so we got both perspectives. Great choice in my opinion. We embarked from terminal 2 but were bumped to a different terminal upon return but they handled it wonderfully with minimal inconvenience. We stayed at the Hilton Marina the night prior to sailing. Great location, not impressed with the grounds at all. Not a good representation of a Hilton property. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the itinerary and the date, we wanted to be away at New Year. After reading some negative reviews I was a little worried but I didn't need to be. Embarkation was smooth and we were on the ship in no time at all having a nice lunch. Our cabin was ready soon after and with the cases delivered we were ready to unpack. Cabin # C426: The cabin was a good size with a decent balcony and plenty of hanging space. The only couple of gripes were the towels are too small and the shower was very small. However we are not big people and we managed. Food: We enjoyed most of the food in the Horizon Court and the MDR. There was plenty of choice and if we were not sure what we wanted in the MDR we ordered two different options, no issues with doing that. The only gripe was the food on the last night, it was really not good and the service that had been great all week was sadly lacking, we waited nearly 40 minutes for our main course. It was one blip in a 10 day cruise so not that bad. Excursions: We booked all our excursions through Princess and they were all superb. We decided to be brave and take a helicopter ride in Grand Caymen. wow!!!! We did the Banana train and canal cruise at Limon which were both really interesting and we saw a total of 8 sloths along with other wild life. My partner did the Panama Canal by boat which was a long long day but he loved it. I stayed on ship and really enjoyed the Gatun Locks and Lake. We went to Yamaan Park in Ocho Rios that was a blast and the jerk chicken lunch was to die for. Cartagena we did the highlights which was great and we got free time to look around the old town. All in all a great cruise with amazing friendly staff. Read Less

My husband and I enjoy cruising during holidays, when we can -- Christmas, New Years, Easter. This was a Christmas cruise. We chose it mostly for Cartagena and Panama Canal. Cartagena was a vision as Island Princess entered the harbor. The city is designed so that the sun lights up the white skyscrapers like torches at sunrise. It's breathtaking! This was our second cruise to go through the Panama Canal but there are plenty of excursions and this time we took a tour of the old city and Miraflores locks. The tour was great, mostly because of Rosablanca, ("White Rose") our tour guide. We only took three excursions on this 10-day cruise. Cartagena Old City (a UNESCO World Heritage site), Trolly Tour in Grand Cayman and Panama mentioned above. Cartagena has some over-assertive street vendors. With plenty of sea days and a couple of great lecturers -- Bill Fall and Marina Oborotova -- this turned out to be a relaxing cruise. Played trivia and Bingo with Robbie (best Bingo caller in the fleet, I think!). We didn't win. We were always in the dining room at 5 sharp so we could make the 6 pm show. Robert and Jelana always competent in the dining room and brought smiles with their conversations. (Table 75 anytime dining). Horizon Court offered up a great variety of chow and desserts. They also had gingerbread houses and decorations and they baked four humongous cakes (enough for 1,000 perhaps?) strawberry, blueberry, chocolate decorated like a christmas tree, and German chocolate -- spectacular effort! Dining room food was a medley that could be graded A (NY strip steak, lamb roast, prime rib), A- (lobster tails with no butter, but on a pile of sticky rice/arugula) and one F (bad red snapper). Balcony cabin was good with a full length closet. On the last morning, the room steward wanted to come in and strip the beds when we went to breakfast. This was ten minutes before six a.m. -- my suitcase was on the bed, open, waiting for a few last minute additions to be thrown in. That thing weighs 40 pounds. That was inconvenient! We had some heavy seas and the captain and crew handled the steering as well as possible to alleviate pitching and yawing. They had the stabilizers out when called for. I slept like the dead, but you might want to pack your dramamine, just in case. One of the best production shows ever, on any cruise ship -- their new New Orleans show. I've seen Encore three times, it never gets old. The Secret Silk show is magical. Read Less

Exceptional Princess entertainment. We also enjoyed Crooners most every night with David Moore. The Princess orchestra did an amazing job with all of the entertainers. Our mini-suite was a plus-loved the larger balcony and bathroom. Steward service by Khus was efficient and friendly on the 10th deck. The guitarist-Danny- provided great music in the Wheelhouse. The lectures were outstanding—-especially the day-long dialog going through the Panama Canal with Bill. Boarding in San Francisco was quick as well as our Deboard in Ft Lauderdale. The best part for us was going through the Panama Canal since this was reason we opted for this particular cruise. In December the canal traffic was light but it still takes all day to go thru the locks. Remember to inform those at home to check out the island princess.com web camera so they can view you going thru the locks. The weather in Dec 2018 was perfect. Read Less

I had sailed the Panama Cruise before and this is the first time I was able to go to Panama City. Also wanted to see the new canal and the itinerary included other ports that have not visited in many years. Loved the destination port San Francisco. I am not a fan of the mega ships and love the size of the Island Princess. It is starting to show it’s age a little bit but would sail on it again. I booked the mini-suite and always enjoy the extra space on longer cruises. The Princess sleep system beds are wonderful and had the most restful night sleeping during the cruise. The entertainment was very good and really enjoyed their new production, “Silk”. Selected first seating for dining and did not like the change in time with dinner starting at 5:15. The meals were very good in the dining room and the waiters were more than willing to get additional items on the menu. Have sailed on the Island two other times and visited the Bayou Cafe. Was disappointed this time in the attempt to deliver Cajun food. I am sure it didn’t help that I visited New Orleans in June. The service is stellar and usually make great friends with the servers. I stuck with the ship sponsored tours and was glad of that. There was a parade and blocked the streets and a tour was thirty minutes late from sail time. The ship was held until they arrived. Princess has the embarkation / disembarkation down to a science. It is so smooth getting on and off in record time. Read Less

In our dining room, we preferred a set time. The menu had large variety, it was amazing. The food was always hot and served promptly. The meals were excellent and we were taken care of by the ship’s super staff. Our waiter Sandy and his helper Russel were Very attentive, remembering each meal what our beverage was. We couldn’t have asked for better service at dinner with Sandy and Russel, always friendly and making us feel special. All the staff on the ship are friendly and helpful. The shows were exceptional! Every night they had professional entertainers. The costumes, the band and the settings were outstanding. They offer So many activities to do on the ship or you can just relax and do nothing. Our ten day cruise aboard the Island Princess was everything we wanted it to be. The service, food and accommodations were exactly what we wished for. The entertainment director responsible for organizing all passenger interactive activities did an outstanding job keeping the passengers entertained. The food service staff in our "anytime" dining room and also at the soup to nuts buffet.were very attentive and a joy to be around. The very talented bar staff were also very entertaining demonstrating their mixology repertoire. Generally we find negative details for the critique, however, it is not the case here. We chose not to take advantage of any of the tours available because of very recent surgery. We did walk off the ship in two ports but not for long. Actually, we found the ship pleasantly enjoyable with half the passengers ashore. The best part about the cruise was the exceptionally well trained staff. Read Less

We decided on this particular cruise because of the dates, destinations and Princess line as we are Ruby Captain's Club members. At the end of the cruise we were delighted to find out that we reached Platinum class. While we're used to the newer ships, we found the 2016 refurbishment of the Island Princess to be quite nice. All of the common areas were updated and well appointed. The fitness center however was lacking and had no windows. We had a mini-suite at the front port side of the ship convenient to the Lido deck where we spent most of our time. We like Anytime Dining and also had dinner 3 nights at Specialty restaurants; Bayou was only fair, Sabatini's was outstanding. The ports, some which we had been to, others not, which is one of the reasons we took this cruise; Cartagena, Panama Canal & Limon. Cayman Islands and Jamaica we've been. Unfortunately it rained in Panama so hard that morning that all excursions were cancelled. Other than that, the weather was perfect and we had an absolute blast. Entertainment on the ship was OK, service was excellent and the food was good. We have traveled on Celebrity several times and honestly, the food on that line is outstanding. Still, we look forward to our next cruise on Princess. They have two new ships being launched, one this year and another in 2020. Read Less

We’ve been to many islands so the excursions in the Grand Cayman’s and Jamaica were not ones we’ve selected. Costa Rica was fascinating and would go back. The Panama Canal was always a place that I had heard about, studied in school and someplace I just felt like I wanted to visit. Well, our trip there lived up to expectations. From the time we left Ft. Lauderdale until we returned ten days later, we had a very enjoyable time. The itinerary included a couple of islands we had already visited (Jamaica & Grand Cayman) but since they were part of the package, we didn't complain. Visits to Columbia, Panama & Costa Rica were new to us on this voyage. Our first stop was Jamaica after a very relaxing & enjoyable sea day. We visited the local shops there as there weren't any shore excursions that really interested us. Another sea day took us to Cartagena, Columbia where we toured the Spanish fort and the old walled city. The tours were very interesting but there was quite a bit of walking. Things are a little close in the old city so it did get warm. But there was plenty to see and the trip was enjoyable. The next stop was the Panama Canal itself. We entered the Canal around 7 in the morning and I had a great spot on Deck 11 of the Island Princess to watch the proceedings. The narrator helped keep us abreast of what was going on but his German accent did make him hard to understand at times. For the third set of locks, I retreated to the stern of Deck 8 for a totally different perspective. There were plenty of photo opportunities all morning long. I didn't really keep tabs on the time but would guess that it took us about three hours to exit the canal to Lake Gatun. There, we dropped anchor at the Lake Gatun Yacht Club then transferred to a bus for the next part of our trip through the canal. Amidst intermittent rain showers, we traveled to a ferry that took us through the remaining locks on the Pacific side of the canal and to Panama City. Again, there were plenty of photo opportunities as we transited the locks and cruised along the other end of the canal. We did see some shipping that was bound for the new locks which were completed on each end. At the bay in Panama City, there was a literal parking lot of ships waiting to gravel east through the canal to the Caribbean Sea. It was really a neat sight. After docking at Panama City, we returned to the Island Princess by bus arriving at probably about 4.30 in the afternoon. It was a very memorable trip. The next day, we visited Limon, Costa Rica, where we toured a portion of the rain forest by rail and water. The monkeys in the trees and the blue heron along the shore were highlights of the very relaxing trip by train and boat. After three very busy and most interesting days, we were ready for the sea day which followed our visit to Limon. At Grand Cayman, we were able to take a semi-submarine ride that had not been available during our previous visit there. The vessel was a bit crowded but everyone could see the surrounding waters. Traveling over the shipwreck in the harbor and the boat's diver feeding the fish right outside of our viewing windows were two of the more memorable things that we saw. After the sub ride, we visited Hell, so named for the gnarly black rock formations in the vicinity. The next stop was the turtle farm where sea turtles were raised from the eggs laid by the females along the area beaches. If you are a bit bold, you can pick up one of the turtles for a neat picture. From there, we stopped and sampled Cayman Island Rum Cakes then returned to our ship. Our last day was a sea day that was capped off with the BEST onboard production we have ever seen, Encore. It was so good that we stayed for the second performance and enjoyed it just as much as we enjoyed it the first time. The balloon drop in the Atrium seemed a fitting way to end our trip... the atmosphere was as festive as any New Year's Eve party I've ever attended. As usual, disembarkation was a bit rushed but we managed. Our flight left Ft. Lauderdale at 11.30 in the morning and the flight path from the airport allowed us one last glimpse of the Island Princess as we flew overhead. Read Less

Chosen because we wanted to experience Princess. and the Panama Canal was a bucket list item. The icing on the cake was Cartegena and Limon. Enjoyed the ports very much with very good ship excursions. Had been to Jamaica and Cayman before so although Im not a big Jamaica fan. I had a good Falmouth experience that changed my mind about visiting the island again. It was to be a port/ship day, but found a tour that was very enriching and we were kept safe. Cayman was the the beach, a bit pricy but a lovely afternoon. As I said Cartegena and Limon were a treat. Great excusions with guides that were really up on their history of the island. Enjoyed all the ports very much. On the ship. Food is excellent. although Horizon Court gets to be a bit tiresome with the same things, but hey you can do breakfast just so many ways. Lunch in the dining room was superb as was afternoon tea. Dinner was fantastic, both in menu choices and in service. Eduardo and Husin, our waiters gave outstanding service, and while Husin was learning, his youthful appearance and upbeat personality really gave us a great impression. Pools are nice, though of course crowded on sea days. Narration of our passage in and out of the Panama Canal was very informative and we both learned alot. We will be returning to Princess again as we found this experience outstanding. Read Less

Nice overall itinery, except Cartagena is a despicable town - a class A tourist trap - worthy of being avoided if possible (just stay on the boat and buy your emeralds in the US). Other than that, it was a wonderful ship, crew & Ship. Do make a point of scheduling a Deluxe Balcony Dinner early on. It is a bargain considering all that you get and the quality of the food (way better than the main dining room fare); also do the Bayou Cafe dinner (lobster or steak). The submarine ride along the coral reef at Georgetown, Caman Islands was fun - we went down to a depth of 107 ft. Great itinerary including Panama Canal, but highlight was being blown away by extreme quality of performances & musicianship on board. Very good variety of musical styles and shows that Broadway would envy. Great jazz sets and backup for guest performers who were amazing also. We walked around Ft. Lauderdale the day before departure & enjoyed the city even though it was hot and humid for early October. Embarkation and our exit also were the fastest & most efficient we have experienced (been on 3 other cruise lines, but first time on Princess). We chose an interior cabin (deck 5) since not spending much time there & had the best sleep in years on a great queen bed. The cabin steward must be a magician, since the room was always clean even when we were not gone a long time -- not sure he ever slept. We chose this cruise due to the good price and the transit of the canal. We stayed at the Hampton Inn in Plantation, FL the night prior to the cruise because it is located near a Target and malls plus the free shuttle pickup at the airport and then to the port the next morning was a huge draw. The breakfast there was very good: lots of cold and hot items to choose from. Also, Tom, the first shift shuttle driver, gives you informative and interesting facts about the area during your rides which we greatly appreciated since we knew nothing about Ft. Lauderdale. Our embarkation was extremely fast. We checked out of the motel (another couple rode with us in the shuttle), we all got out of the shuttle and went directly onboard even though my email from Princess had said we wouldn't be boarding until 1:30 p.m. There were no lines and no waiting so we went directly to the bar on the immediate left as you enter the Atrium, ordered coffees and waited there until we could go to our rooms which was not long after we had boarded. We were pleasantly surprised. Jumping ahead, disembarking went just as smoothly: we had a 9:30 a.m. time to go to the Bordeaux restaurant but while we were eating breakfast in Horizon, an announcement was made that disembarking was going faster than expected and for everyone to go before their allotted disembarking time. Sure enough, we no sooner had gotten to Bordeaux than we got to leave the ship. We had chosen to have Princess take our luggage to the airport for us so we got through the terminal quickly but that is because we have Global Entry where there was no line. The other line for everyone else was long but it seemed to be moving steadily. So for us embarking and disembarking were very fast and smooth which we thoroughly enjoyed. We will always use the EZCheck for our luggage since it was so convenient to put the bags out at 9:00 p.m. the night before and then not have to see them again until we arrived at our final destination on the luggage carousel at the airport. We ate our last dinner in the Bayou and it was divine. If we had known it was going to be that good, we would have eaten there twice. I had the oysters for an appetizer, the seafood bisque, and the tenderloin all of which were delicious. My husband had the porterhouse and it was more than he could eat but he said it was cooked to perfection and tender. The Prosecco the waiter chose for us went perfectly with our meal. We had a seat for two by the window facing the Promenade Deck and we got to see a lovely sunset. We look forward to going back to the Bayou on one of our future cruises. We only took one excursion because the weather was too hot for us to enjoy being outside and that excursion was the one which goes to Hell, the cake factory,, and the rum tasting. It was so much fun! Carl Brown was our tour guide and he was full of fascinating facts about Grand Cayman and he mailed our post cards for us since there isn't enough time to learn about Hell, shop for post cards, write what you want on the post cards, and then stand in line for stamps and to mail them in the tiny post office. We would definitely go back on that tour and, hopefully, get Carl. One piece of advice I would give coffee lovers is to take your favorite coffee in individual packages for making instant coffee. The coffee tasted like hot water with milk added in at Horizon but was perfect each morning after I added my Starbucks Colombian instant coffee to it. I had read there is an issue with hearing people in the cabins next to yours but we did not have a problem with that. We had a balcony on Caribe that was far forward and even when the people on our right played music loud enough to be heard out on the balcony, we couldn't hear it inside of the cabin. Also, greatly appreciate the suggestions of using a spray for the poop odor in the bathroom. We took Air Wick V.I.P. Pre-Poop Spray and it worked perfectly. There were never any odor problems. I had read somewhere to line the inside of your suitcase with the large (33 gallon) trash bags which will prevent moisture from getting to your clothes. I'm glad I did because I have had issues with my clothes getting wet due to airline luggage handlers letting the suitcase sit out in the rain prior to it being loaded. It was raining when we left for the cruise so having the garbage bags pressed against the top and bottom of my suitcase prevented my shoes, which were all around the lower part of the suitcase, from getting wet. We are looking forward to our next cruise with Princess. We can see how people can get addicted to this particular line due to the great service and the ship was lovely. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we wanted to see the Panama Canal and the timing was great. Embarkation and disembarkation was very well organized and plenty of Princess personnel directing passengers which caused a smooth move. We did use the transfer from and to ship...glad we did. The Island Princess ship is a smaller ship and I liked it very much.We stayed on Caribe Deck 415 with the larger balcony. I did not like the cabin next door because balcony extended out and looked on to our balcony. Plenty of storage in cabin. Dining was fabulous ...food was good and great selection all the time. I had soy allergy so maitre'd brought menu to me the night before to select my next day's entree. Our maitre'd Alejandro in Bordeaux DR was outstanding making suggestions for me and went out of his way to make sure I enjoyed my dinner. Desserts were also fabulous. I was happy to see they had Escargot and many other delicious appetizers. Our waiter was Charles and he was fantastic, great sense of humor and gave us great service. Entertainment shows at 7:45 and 9:45 each night great and you had to arrive 30 mins before show to get a seat. 9:45 was less crowded. Service was outstanding on the ship...crew was great and very friendly and helpful. Port excursions were great and enjoyed all of them. Ship I felt was not handicap accessible in the pool. height of 5'3" inches water and not easy to get into. This felt by many of seniors.I must say I enjoyed every minute of my cruise and YES I would travel on this ship again. Thank you Island Princess for a great time! Read Less

We truely enjoyed the Panama Canal transit experience from Pacific Ocean to Atlantic Ocean. We had a balcony room on deck 11 (Baja) in mid ship area. The room was comfortable although we found the mattress a little bit soft to our liking. The room steward did a good service making us feel like home every day. He always open the door for us when he is near our room. Princess crews did a good job overall. We had no complain whatsoever. Food was excellent. Buffet lunch offered great varieties of food. Lots of deserts to choose. Dinner choices were excellent. My steak always prepared as the way I wanted. Entertainment was very very good. I think this would be one of the best among all our past cruise with Princess. On this trip they had a very amazing cruise director. His name is Gary. He was so friendly and funny. The only disappointed part was the long lineup for clear the customs at Fort Lauderdale. There was not enough us custom officers to deal with the volume of passenger. We waited for 2 hours. Overall I gave an A to Princess. Read Less

All port excursions (all booked through Princess) were great. The Aromas and Flavors of Cartagena was a bit shorter than we expected, but the food was great. I recommend the balcony dinner for two (stead and lobster) and save your appetite. They serve you a lot of food! The cost is $99. There is a service provided at disembarkation to have your luggage picked up on your last day and delivered to the airport. You pick up at your final destination. I'd check into this prior to booking the cruise. We were apparently too late even though we booked directly through Princess. This resulted in us not being able to explore Florida for several hours. The food was plentiful, obviously, and good on the Island Princess. The Princess staff are all friendly and accommodating from the moment you check in before getting on the ship. It would have been nice to have more "age-appropriate" activities for us (early fifties). Read Less

Entertainment and food was good and plentiful. Lots of choices on the Horizon buffet for all meals if that was your choice of dining. The dining room menu was varied and the staff were excellent..... knowledgeable and entertaining. I didn’t have room for dessert most nights and one evening I said “Nothing for me thank you” so after serving everyone else at the table he brought me a plate with ‘Nothing’ written in chocolate......quite a sense of humour. We had anytime dining and that worked really well....most evenings we didn’t have to wait long. We opted for a table for six....as more than that it was awkward to hold a conversation. We met lots of really nice, interesting people from all around the world. We did the full 22 day cruise from Vancouver to Ft. Lauderdale our longest cruise yet. We only booked two tours from the ship the rest we picked up on the dock....most of them just six of us in air conditioned vans with guide.....much better and more personal than the large bus loads. We chose this cruise hoping for spectacular scenery and we weren't disappointed! It was end of season and prices were discounted in every port because businesses wouldn't see cruise ship passengers until next spring. Weather was outstanding, blue skies most of the time so snow-covered mountain ranges were visible. Excellent photography opportunities. Sailing into Glacier Bay was a special treat. Watching and hearing multiple glaciers calving is not to be missed. Ice-blue pieces of glacier floated by the ship. It's amazing that only 1/3 of the chunk is visible above the water line. Some were as big as houses, so it gives you an idea of how massive they are. Many had sea lions basking on top. Food and service were outstanding. Club Class cabin had separate anytime dining area with no waiting. Food was better than Celebrity which up until this cruise was our favorite. The only negative was food at Sabatini's which was lukewarm at best, and tomato sauce was runny and bland. Don't waste your money for a "premium" meal. . Read Less

Words can not express what a wonderful time my wife and I had on this cruise. Everyone we had direct contact with was amazing. Our cabin steward Raul was so fast at refreshing the room it was unreal. The dining staff in the club class section of the Bordeaux dining room were all great. We filled out recognition cards for all 7 of the staff in the area as well as Raul. We wish they had mentioned the cards before the next to last day though. It would have given us more time to leave comments. The ship itself was great. There are some areas where I could see some wear and tear but it's also 15+ years old. We went on the tour of the ship on the last day of the cruise. I would definitely recommend it for people interested in the technical and behind the scenes aspects. The engine control room and bridge were the highlights for me. The shows and activities were enough to keep us busy most of the time. There were a couple of occasions where one thing overlapped another and we could not make it to the second. Over all we would certainly do it again! Read Less
