Nicer than expected Island Princess Panama Canal cruise

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Island Princess

Took a Panama Canal cruise on the Island Princess over Thanksgiving week. Embarkation and disembarkation were a breeze (used Princess transfers). Despite the small size of the older ship, we were pleasantly surprised with the amount of activities and how much was tucked into small spaces, where there were 4 days at sea on the 10 day cruise. Definitely older ship, but turned out that we felt less ...

We wanted to see the Panama Canal and the Island Princess left at a convenient time. The food and the choices in the buffet were much better than in the dining rooms. Service in the dining rooms was very slow. Reservations in the dining room were only available for 5:15 or 7:15 for anytime dining. What is it called that if you can’t dine anytime? The staterooms have only two electrical ...

Panama Canal is an engineering marvel, but Cartagena is a waste of time!

We picked this cruise to mainly see the Panama Canal. EMBARKATION- Fort Lauderdale is very convenient for us because we live in Tampa. This was one of the easiest and fastest embarkation process we have experienced. We did have to wait to board the ship because the Coast Guard would not clear the ship for some reason. the other passengers that were waiting complained that Princess ran out of ...

The nightly ship entertainment in the Princess Theatre was just fantastic.

The Panama Cruise was very interesting to us all(three couples), the itinerary was just as expected, varied and very interesting. The embarkation was a breeze, they let us on the ship as soon as we arrived at the port so we could relax, eat and have a drink. Our rooms were ready by 11:30 and we had our luggage waiting for us in the rooms. The disembarkation went just a smoothly, a well oiled ...

I was a little nervous about this cruise - especially the ship - because of all the crap reviews I had read on cruise critic about it being beat up, old, blah blah blah. Fake news! I actually really liked this cruise. The Island is not brand new but it’s in decent shape. And it also has character, lots of places to escape with a good book, nooks and crannies etc. It did not seem crowded at ...

So much for ROMANCE

We had good experiences with Princes before, not this time. What can I say, fire alarm in the cabin going off every time we took a shower, the phone ringing 20 times afterwards telling us, then people at our door. We finally got moved after 5 days of this, but it took the fun out of our cruise already. The food was mediocre at best, but it seems all cruise lines are just not getting it food ...

Chose this cruise because of price and itinerary. Always bargains over U.S. Thanksgiving week. Interested in Panama Canal partial transit and Cayman stop on a Sunday-to visit relatives there. First the bad stuff.A 10 day cruise without a decent cup of coffee. as coffee dispensers in buffet dining rooms dispensed coffee made from syrup. I wasted $33 on a specialty coffee package in order to get ...

Sailing the Panama canal was on my father's bucket list, so we selected this sailing to do it as a family group. We had several people in our party with dietary restrictions that were discussed with the sales rep before purchase, and we were assured they would be accommodated, and a high level of cuisine provided. This was not so. The vegan and gluten sensitive person in our party went thru a ...

Great value for money .majority of pessengers ware 50+so it was very quite. Food quality and selection was very good. Shows and bars were well stocked with variety of menu. The entire process of embankment and disembarked process was amazingly efficient. Airport transportation is expensive compared to Uber/Lyft.Avoid that at any cost. Not only it’s expensive but wait time at airport is ...

The Panama Canal and a visit to South America and Some Island Countries

We wanted to experience the locks at the Panama Canal,. and to see a part of the world we had never visited. We booked a mini-suite for the first time, and we really enjoyed having the extra space. We had four sea days, so we were in the room more often than on other cruises. We had Club Dining on this cruise, and were very pleased with the service. It was nice to have the same efficient ...
