This was a quick cruise with 1 port - Amber Cove. The Island Princess was a beautiful ship, decorated everywhere for Christmas and the crew was fantastic everywhere we turned.
The ship...
The ship was in wonderful condition...the only imperfection I noticed was in our stateroom where they had obviously changed out artwork on a wall for a wall mounted large flatscreen TV....you can still see ...
Positives: excellent service, delicious food in MDR, entertainment good. Staff were friendly and courteous for the most part and we enjoyed chatting with them.
Negatives: ship in dire need of reburbishments. Common areas extremely dated and worn. Cabins tired, but more surprisingly dirty due to cloth on headboard as an example being stained. Seating in public areas also looks dirty due to being ...
We chose this cruise at the last minute due to the very low price. Apparently this cruise was a 'late add' to the 2019 sailing schedule when the Island Princess did not go in for it's scheduled maintenance. There were 1,963 passengers, less then the full ship capacity of 2,100 guests. So there must have been several dozen empty cabins. We were not offered an upgrade.
The Island Princess is ...
My husband and I tried Princess for the very first time for this unusual 4-night cruise. We did it because we’re considering it for the Panama Canal. So this was a test. Princess had one chance to impress us and, well . . . for us, their customer service did not wow.
We have been Royal Caribbean and Carnival people for 15 cruises over the past decade (mostly Royal). We also took one Disney ...
I could not resist the rates on this 4 day cruise to achieve Elite status. Settled into a cabin on PR deck aft. Loved the location close to exit doors directly onto Promaneade deck. First time on this ship since 2013, and the refit. Really missed the full PR deck. It was almost as though I had never cruised this ship before, Explorers Lounge - gone. All kids' clubs are now aft, along with ...
My husband had always wanted to do this cruise and because he had just undergone radiation from August until September we thought it would be an excellent trip to look forward to while going through his regimen of 40 radiation treatments.
We were pleasantly surprised with all the decorations for Christmas on the ship, the friendly and helpful service and the choices we had for dining and ...
Wanted to see Panama Canal and last time we went cruising we were on The Island Princess and looked forward to returning to that ship since our experience was so positive. Many positive elements like Club Class dining which was excellent plus the staff was outstanding. Main problem was the room was too small for us. Tried to change and upgrade but, at the time, no rooms available. The gym was ...
Wanted to fit in a cruise to a warm place before the holidays, the itinerary and length fit the bill. Island Princess is showing its wear in some places (furniture in public places a bit worn) but is still a nice ship with most of the amenities. The Broadway style shows were flashy and stunning, enjoyed the premier of "Secret Silk". Only got to a couple of get togethers -- Learn Spanish, ...
This trip was a return trip for my husband, he had gone through the canal in the '50s while serving in the Navy. The trip went smoothly! the ship was beautifully decorated for the Holidays, the cabin was clean, the balcony large. The bed was wonderful, cozy, great pillows. The entertainment was good as were the games. The service was outstanding in the dining room, high praise to Erick, he took ...
1. Few crew members commented about working conditions and low salary. Because of the mandatory tip policy, management needs to disclose percentage of salary covered by tips
2. Better entertainment programs e.g. avoid repetition of performers. Encourage participation of talented guests,. To break the ice, the director should tell few jokes at the beginning of each ...
