We liked the itinerary of this cruise and although we hadn't been with Celebrity Cruises before we thought we would give them a try. Abu Dhabu, Dubai and Muscat were such rich countries with new buildings and then there was Mumbai, Goa and Cochin, so dirty and poor! Columbo in Sri Lanka, Phuket and of course Singpore were all fantastic in their own way too. People thought the ship was old, but we thought it was lovely. There was the usual queue to embark, but there generally is, so no change there. The food was excellent and we had a super waiter. Our cabin was kept very clean by our steward and it was no problem for him to solve any of our problems, of which there weren't many. The shows in the evening were excellent and the Cruise Directer was too, he was so entertaining and had plenty to say without being over the top. We had booked plenty of Shore excursions and they were all excellent and we were able to understand what the couriers were saying, which is in fact very important. We had excellent speakers too, when we had sea days. All in all, fabulous. Wifi was rather pricey, so we went without! Read Less

We booked this cruise for the exciting itinerary. We were concerned after reading some previous reviews that the ship would disappoint. We kept out expectations realistic and were very pleasantly surprised. We loved the layout of the ship. We have been on 10 cruises and we prefer the older style ships as we feel they offer more space and a lovely relaxed feel. The food was very good at all the restaurants. Although we had access to Blu with our cabin class we chose to dine at San Marco every night with the rest of our family and loved the atmosphere and food quality. We enjoyed the shows and the variety of entertainment and we loved the outdoor cinema. We were very happy with our cabins and found the storage to be more then other ships. The crew were fantastic! Its amazing how they turn up each day with so much enthusiasm and energy for their jobs. Well done to Celebrity for creating, from what we could see, a strong crew morale. Our recommendations would be to keep your expectations realistic and you'll probably be pleasantly surprised. How could we complain over spending two weeks being totally waited on and entertained? Service generally way off cekebrity standards except in Blu - food and service there was excellent. Wi-Fi improved but still intermittent. Excursions so so. Local providers much better and cheaper. Prices for everything on the ship extortionate. Fitness facilities on the ship were very good and the Buffet selection on food was excellent The food and service in the Suite restaurant Luminae we're both terrible and certainly not worth the premium do you have to pay to be in a suite We took shore excursions run by the ship in five of the ports and again, they were very mediocre and not close to offering value for money. In one case for example, the excursion started at 1 pm and the first stop was a fish market which had just closed . In another port because only one exit to the dark from the ship was open it took over 20 minutes just a disembark All in all we were not impressed by the ship or the service and value we received Read Less

We have cruised with Royal Caribbean in the past, but decided to try Celebrity this time. We were not disappointed. From start to finish, we were delighted with every aspect. From staff, catering, entertainment ports of call and customer service, we finished our experience on a high and can’t wait to book our next one with Celebrity. Having a proper coffee lounge was a huge plus for us which gave us the chance to catch up with fellow travellers in a relaxed atmosphere whilst enjoying proper coffee. Our Cruise Director Steve was just the perfect “host”, making everyone feel speacial at all times. He was visible at all the important times and had such a warm and engaging way with guests. We also thoroughly enjoyed the guest speakers on our trip. Very entertaining and interesting. A real bonus for us. We are now seriously looking to book our next adventure with Celebrity. Read Less

Loved the variety of ports offered on this cruise. Abu Dhabi to Abu Dhabi, including Dubai and Mumbai and Goa.all different and exciting in their own way. The New Year overnight tour in Dubai was fabulous, from Jeep riding over the dunes, camel ride to a Bedouin camp and dinner the Bedouin way. The tents were extremely comfortable. Sunset on the dunes and sunrise at the camp were amazing. After breakfast we went to a camel shelter to pat and talk to the beautiful animals. This was a Celebrity shore excursion and the best we have ever done. Returning to the ship we felt like we were coming home, the crew were all so friendly. Dinner every night was a pleasure as our waiters learnt quickly our dietary needs and made sure every meal was perfect for us. We loved Cafe Bachio and met many new friends there. A cruise is as good as you want it to be. Ours was perfect. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the itinerary and we enjoy Celebrity. The ship is showing its’ age. It was kept very clean. The staff were helpful & friendly. In the buffet in the morning we enjoyed the beautiful voices of some of the staff. The buffet choices were plentiful breakfast & lunch. We had the same waiters each night for dinner and they were great. Food was very delicious and plentiful. They gave recommendations each evening and told us about their home cities. We enjoyed coffee in the Elite Lounge each morning. The entertainment wasn’t the best. We did especially enjoy the guest lecturer,”David Weimers”.We did not participate in the ship games. The gym was good and not busy first thing in the morning. Would liked a lower deck to walk around- only could go part way.We only had 1 tender port - Phuket, and all went smoothly. Disembarking was easy too. We chose to take our own luggage off. Read Less

Recently returned from this much anticipated cruise from Abu Dhabi. Found the ship to be tired with internal & external maintenance required, especially in some of the public toilets. There was a sewage smell at various areas throughout the ship during most of our cruise. On the last night there was a sudden potent smell of sewage appeared in the theatre mid show & approximately 100 people walked out, including ourselves. Then engineering staff that appeared at the theatre denied any problem, despite the smell!! Food was hit & miss in quality - in the main dining room some meals were very good, however several arrived look warm. Food choice & information - little/poor labelling in Oceanview Cafe with crew unable to confirm allergens. Again crew were the same - some excellent, interested, knowledgeable & attentive, with others with little knowledge, apparently little training or interest. Next to no visibility of the senior officers - when on Millennium last year all senior officers were seen regularly throughout the ship, but not the case this cruise. Smoking area talking more than 50% of open decks & regularly moved between sides on deck 4 - making it hard to avoid smoke at times. Itinerary was good, with India being especially interesting. Like the class of ship having cruises on Millennium last Christmas- crew night & day between the two ships. Would definitely try similar itinerary but not on this ship! The ship dancers & singers were excellent, but the other entertainment was very poor. Rated shore excursions as average as we did our own excursions. Read Less

We are Celebrity fans having first cruised on Equinox in 2013. We only ever cruise at Christmas and with friends we met on our first cruise. The biggest disappointment was the arrogance of some of the passengers especially with the sunbeams. Now we Brits have a reputation for competing with other europeans for beds around hotel pools in europe but seizing 20 beds at 0630 using 4 towels per bed, smacks of selfishness and arrogance and to top it all, from fellow Brits1 We cruised at Christmas from Abu Dhabi including Goa, Mumbai, Dubai, Sir Bani island and back to Abu Dhabi. Abu dhabi is rather boring, Goa was disappointing, Dubai is impressive but hugely expensive, Sir Bani island (never went ashore) seemed pointless. Why have to wait two ours to be tendered to a beach for a BBQ? We were deck 11 in AquaClass and our cabin attendant was fantastic as were 80% of the crew some, clearly their first contract, need a short sharp shock. Celebrity has a policy of not allowing reservation of sunbeds and if you leave, its 30 minutes or your personal belongings are collected and taken to guest relations. Never happened. Pool butlers seemed either intimidated or were perhaps, getting a little kick back for turning a blind eye. Now I appreciate that there are never enough beds on sea days especially if the weather is hot, but it kind of iritates you knowing you have to hunt for a bed after you've had breakfast and certainly put us and our friends, in a bad mood - not the way to start your day! The ridiculous use of 4 towels per bed, kind of flys in the face of Celebrity's "save the waves" campaign and perhaps should require you to sign for a maximum amount of two towels using your sea pass and return them otherwise, you pay for them. Better policing would also help. We always book AquaClass mainly because Blu restaurant has, in my opinion, the best food on the ship along with a comprehensive and impressive wine list. Neither was obvious in Blu in fact, its probably some of the most mediocre food we have ever had. Celebrity have definetly reduced the selection too, even though we always opt for Premium Drinks Package as opposed to the Classic Drinks Package. I would be replacing executive chef too. Are Celebrity aware of the dozens of potato dishes that can be created rather than has or chips? Or sauces rather than some light hearted attempt to disguise yesterdays with todays? As a former chef, I was deeply frustrated at the lack of culinary skill or imagination AND the bloody lack of potato dishes! Connie is showing her age and any any amount of "refits' makes little difference. She is shabby and unloved and should be scrapped. Going back the Solstice class a in September and then Christmas 2020 - never again on a Millennium Class. Read Less

My review will be on the ship/cruise line primarily which was more of a disappointment than I expected despite my previously reading reviews of the cruise line and the ship itself. I've cruised RCL, NCL, Oceania and HAL, and even done a few river cruises so I have several points of comparison. This ship's weakness comes close to my HAL experience which is why they will be added to my one and done list. Some ships are older, I've been on some older RCL ships but it need not look so run down. When you have nearly 5 sea days in a 14 day cruise the entertainment needs to be on point. To be left with pitchy singers, and staging that resembles that of a High School musical tells me that Celebrity has stopped investing in this ship and so I should not either. The house band tried but blah and the ships standard entertainers for the most part could not hold a note in key for any of their renditions. My last visit was their take on Cirque de Soliel's Zumanity - AWFUL! As was noted here and elsewhere Celebrity is on the push for additional dollars EVERYWHERE! Once I get my email for the survey I will happily unsubscribe so as to ease the burden on my email of their constant offers for this cruise and others. The tours were overpriced and not well thought out as to timing. How are you booking a high tea for 10am ?? Mosque tour on a Friday near the time of prayer in Abu Dhabi? Taking bookings for NYE and then "realizing" that there will be "operational" problems with that day so you rebook all clients to another day -taking no notice that in some cases you're new booking clashes with other tours booked?? Sheesh. First day on I was clarifying that you can't push my 2:45 Tea to the 3rd January since I've already booked the Arabian Desert Dinner which leaves at 3:45. That's something that their system should have caught but I suppose they were hoping not to have to issue refunds, I would honestly think this was Celebrity's first time doing a NYE in Dubai because all up to the day of the cruise there were no indications of a plan for NYE in the city and then suddenly two days in is a special offer of dinner in a hotel near the Khalifa fireworks, with transportation for $450. I do not fault the price but it would have been great to have that as on option as part of the original cruise excursions so that could be planned. Instead friends and I planned another option on our own. We did several tours on our own as the Cruise tour options were horrifically overpriced. The very last penny pinching effort was the night before being advised that you could use the computers in the ilounge to print your boarding passes ... with fees applying. Note, at this point we are in Abu Dhabi port and you still want to charge high internet fees, to get boarding passes??? We downloaded ours and sent them to guest services and asked them to print it. The cabin decor is tired, the linens have seen their day pass, the cutlery is banged up and the lounge chairs need more than power washing. Upside, the crew and even the Captain were great. I must say that I saw the captain, house manager, and several staff members, walking the decks, dining rooms, buffet's etc more often than on any cruise. It was as if they were trying to see for themselves what the environment was on make sure the staff remained on their toes. Cruise director was upbeat, despite having little to work with (my opinion) and aside from the evening show there was very little to do during the day except shop in the overpriced gift ships. I got a pass to the spa and spent time there. BTW, can anyone help them with the holding of deck chairs for hrs on end? I know its a perpetual problem aboard ship but this was one of my pet peeves on this cruise. Dining San Marco = mediocre food and inconsistent cooking capability. Qsine - Specialty restaurant, was pricey but the premise for the concept was cool and the food was fantastic. It's a tough dining room to find on 3 but worth the effort as it was by far the best meal I had on ship. For generally good food I kept going back to the Ocean View Buffet. There were days I thought they misplaced the salt and pepper shaker, and someone clearly doesn't have a good idea of the color of a good fish and chips but otherwise consistently good food and very helpful staff. The best part of this cruise was the stops and if you make plans to do things on your own you can save money and enjoy your time in port. Don't be put off by the Shore Excursion desks frightening comments about using port taxi's or other options for shore excursions, use common sense, know what you want and how much you are willing to pay and enjoy yourself. After a wonderful cruise to the Baltic on Silhouette we turned to Celebrity for Christmas and New Year and found the India and Emirates cruise, which we booked with great anticipation. What a disappointment, the ship, not the itinerary. Not enough storage space in cabin, cases would not fit under the bed, seal strips kept coming off the shower door, the balcony, deck nine had a massive overhang from deck ten which was the pool deck, so there was constant noise and running footsteps, even in the cabin we had youngsters running up and down the corridor, this is not something we expect in an Aqua Class cabin. There was no adult only area on the pool deck which meant we had constant loud music and shouting, the sunbeds were rammed so close together,(if an empty one could be found) one could have mistaken the deck for a Riviera beach. Celebrity advertise that they cater for low sugar, which l might add is a medical requirement, not a lifestyle choice, no evidence in the Oceanview restaurant of low sugar. infact the organisation in their was very poor on the whole. Afternoon tea consisted of Pizza or Pasta until the last day when miraculously sandwiches appeared and much to my husbands delight scones. We book Aqua class because we love the Blu restaurant, l was delighted to see a low sugar desert option which l ordered, what a mistake, there is certainly a lack of understanding with the chefs on what low sugar actually means, luckily for me our waiters and Maitre d were so concerned that the problem was soon corrected. I was asked for some examples and every night l was provided with a delicious desert. Special thanks to Avan for actually buying me some low sugar sweets when we were in India. The staff on board were always very helpful and polite, things are not always the fault of the actual staff. Sometimes l have mobility difficulty, l couldnt have wished for more help. Our excursions were a mixture, Mumbai was something we would not have missed, a unique experience. On the whole Christmas and New Year on the ship was disappointing, not the fault of the staff. Come on Celebrity stop resting on your laurels, we are looking at other cruise lines. Read Less

was Looking forward to sailing back on Connie after doing the med on her in May however we were on deck 9 and had a bad overhang. this time we had deck 11 perfect rooms. It was the same matrie d in Blu and Laurence was fantastic being a vegetarian she remembered us and straight away we got the same table every night and same waiter. Shame the entertainment and shows were the same as back in may very disappointed with this. the supposedly xmas show was an utter joke and when they did have decent acts on it was when we were in port so not many people attended. The E visa for india was a utter nightmare to do, so much information regarding collecting passports, leaving them collecting them getting off th ship etc. Got speaking to people and seemed like we had a paid a lot more than people on board even though we had booked it onboard a year ago. People who had booked last minute had got wifi and drinks packages too. As always blu is why we travel with celebrity the separate dining room is perfect, we hardly ventured into the rush and stuff buffet!! Never saw the captain or hotel director around, as on our cruise in May both were very prominent. Read Less

I choose the cruise for the destination. The ship too my surprise was 29 years old and showed it. My Gripes are as follows: 1. The cost of the drinks package are a complete rip off an extra $600 for a non alcohol package or $1800 for alcohol (about 25% of cruise cost). 2 Entertainment was third grade and boring. Sound in the theater was not up to standard 3. They used to let you watch movies in the room for free now its $15 plus there was simply nothing too watch 4. They even want you to pay for a tour of the ships Kitchen 5. There were 5 sea days and if I tell you there was simply nothing to do. They had 2 lecturers on board who were not even that good. In other words the lecture rooms were empty most of the day. What the ship thinks is an activity is playing ping pong. 6. In this day an age to charge $500 for internet access is a "crime". You can get that for a year in any country. 7 When you travel in Asia or middle east the price for an excursion is about 5 times what you will pay instead of using one of the locals who are in abundance outside the docks 8. Food: We dined second session and the food mostly was adequate but frequently arrived cold. The buffet was not sub standard. Fruit was either over ripe or simply not there. Salads were boring and often at breakfast there was a choice of one cold meat or cheese. Also not everyone eats pork products. (I noticed flies buzzing around the food area). The drinks waiters in the buffet area had limited knowledge of English and frequently could not understand a simple drinks order Read Less

A long awaited visit to this region after the trials and tribulations of getting the e-visa for India , we were very excited about the cruise The embarkation was very efficient after a long tiring drive from Dubai airport. The cabin wasn't ready until later but we had the use of the other areas while waiting and had lunch in Ocean view restaurant which was adequate. The ship was not as opulent as others we have sailed on. This was first experience with Celebrity. We were very disappointed with the stateroom which was a 2a balcony on deck 7. The room was very dated old curtains poorly fitted. Valance on bed dirty , room dirty . The bathroom had hairs stuck on shower and floor was stained. The actual balcony looked like it hadn't been cleaned properly for weeks. This had to be re-cleaned by the stateroom attendant, after this it was satisfactory for rest of cruise. The bed was comfortable . Just no wow factor ! The San Marco dining room was good , waiters efficient and food very nice. At busy times had a little wait for a table. The sea days were calm, nice and relaxing. Three Chic evening's gave us the chance to dress up but not compulsory to wear a tuxedos. The Ships excursions just gave us a whistle stop tour but we got to see the places we planned. India was challenging but exciting. The people were so friendly, Mumbai busy lots of traffic as we expected. The last day arrived late afternoon in Abu Dhabi with a trip planned for 4pm to Grand Mosque which was not for the faint hearted, after immigration we proceeded for panoramic tour then onto the highlight of the Mosque. I would NOT recommend this trip as seems that Friday is definitely not the best time to go and don't think ship highlighted the challenges this trip held. It was absolutely manic , pushing crowds and frightening long wait least 1.5 hours in dreadful dangerous crowds before you even get through the Mosque security scanners. Once inside the crowds were in the thousands and detracting from the experience of visiting a beautiful place of worship. There must have had many complaints as the ship actually refunded the costs of the excursion. It was just a shame as it meant the last evening was extremely stressful and rushed with late arrival time to dinner , cases out for 10pm . This left us bit deflated after the very enjoyable last two weeks. Would I do it again YES! Read Less

The missus always wanted to visit India so this cruise itinerary gave us an ideal opportunity to experience India and ‘test the waters’ as such. We’ve sailed on many ships on different lines and only once prior had we sailed with Celebrity on the Equinox and we have fond memories of a classy ship with great food. On that, the Constellation didn’t disappoint. The food was really good and the crew were probably some of the best and happiest we’ve seen. Couldn’t fault them or the food in our opinion. The ship is much older than the Equinox and less modern so can’t compete in that regard but it was kept in pretty good shape. We had an Aqua Class balcony cabin that was nice and comfortable and the public areas were all clean and in good order also. As we were Aqua Class, we had access to the Blu restaurant which was really good, quiet and relaxed and we could go whenever we wanted as there weren’t any set dining times for Blu. The menu is supposed to be a little bit healthier with less emphasis on rich sauces but sometimes, you crave a decadent meal and we occasionally opted for choices on the main menu from San Marco next door. The Oceanview Cafe buffet had really nice options and we had breakfast and lunch from here plus the occasional evening meal when we wanted something simpler. Overall, we rated the Oceanview Cafe compared to most buffets on ships. Where the Constellation was let down was in the entertainment provided. The theatre shows were poor, comedian wasn’t overly funny, guest singers were mediocre but more let down by the support of a poor house/backing band. Same with the bands playing around the pool....dull and boring and one had a singer that could clear the pool deck of passengers. The entertainment was the biggest let down really and doesn’t even come close compared to entertainment we’ve had on NCL cruises. I do wonder if the entertainment director is looking at his passenger demographics and concluding, wrongly, that they like music circa 20 years before their time. It was the biggest dispointment for us. As for the itinerary, the India stops were great and kinda what I expected, but not what the missus had in her mind. She watched tv shows with Joanna Lumley visiting tranquil lakes with floating palm fronds and people meditating. What we got was busy and bustling streets and a crazy traffic system that whilst completely chaotic to us with drivers pulling out without looking, driving on the wrong side of the road, stopping randomly, pedestrians wandering about and overtaking when it didn’t seem like a good idea to....somehow just worked. You can get tuk tuks in Cochin and Mangalore quite easily and cheaply to see the local sites and generally just experience typical living in India. We took a taxi to a beach in Goa as the beaches were further away so a long Tuk Tuk ride didn’t seem the best idea. In that, the beach was beautiful and we took a dip in the Arabian Sea. There aren’t any Tuk Tuk’s in Mumbai (Bombay) so again, we took a taxi but this was also cheap and way, way cheaper than the ships tours. Oman was a surprise as we didn’t know what to expect but it was immaculately clean and quiet. We took a taxi for a tour to different places. Abu Dhabi and Dubai were also clean with luxury hotels and big fancy buildings everywhere but to be honest, it didn’t do anything for us. We’re glad we’ve seen it but we wouldn’t rush back. Just seemed really expensive for food and shopping, whilst in amazing malls, is more expensive than the UK so not sure what the attraction is but that’s just our opinion. All in all, we really enjoyed our trip as we pretty much do all our holidays as it’s new experiences. I wouldn’t rush back on the the Connie, or any Millennium class ship to be honest. But I wouldn’t avoid it either. We accept that if we want to travel further afield in the world, we can’t expect it to be on the newest and bestest ships in any cruise fleet. The itinerary and the crew made this a holiday to remember. Read Less

This was our first Celebrity Cruise and though it would be a step up from others we had done, P&O, NCL, RCL, but what a disappointment, maybe it was the ship as it was very old. Thank goodness we and most other passengers had got a classic drinks package in with our cruise, the drinks if we had to purchase were extortionate. We visited Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Oman, Mumbai, Mangalore, Cochin and Goa. Never having visited India previously it was a shock to the system, Mangalore was a real industrial area with coal and dust everywhere, nothing to see, we ventured to the beach literally round the corner, but ladies cover up, we have never been stared at as much, full of local young men. The Celebrity trips again a real rip off, do your homework on trip advisor and book directly with the locals, you will save hundreds and they will benefit from your custom not the cruise ship. The staff onboard were magnificent, as other have said, cabins really tired, despite a refurb last year, this was mainly common areas of the ship. The paid for restaurants were empty and not worth the extra money, we took a half price offer one evening in the Italian but not fantastic as food in the main dining room was excellent. Entertainment was mainly at the expense of the guests, silly games etc. Not many big shows, pretty disappointing. Robes in cabin very poor, need a good iron, no shower gel dispenser, had to ask for shower gel etc. Paint splashed on balcony and outdoor chairs. Everyone trying to hard sell drinks packages, spa treatments etc. Read Less

We booked this cruise two weeks before we sailed as it was good value. Drinks package was expensive as were the ships tours. WiFi stupid money that we did not buy. I had read previous reviews but we found the ship to be great - ok needs a refit but food and stafff were excellent. I was very anxious travelling to India but enjoyed the experience immensely. We met lots of interesting people and chose select dining enabling us to sit beside different people. Thought cruise were quite negative about going on trips on our own as obviously they wanted to sell their tours and lots of passengers did their own thing much cheaper. There were quite a few people in wheelchairs on board and the staff were wonderful with them. Enjoyed the entertainment on the ship including in house singer James Humphreys. He was lead male singer with the show team and was excellent. Loved the big screen outside at stern of the ship. Read Less

We went for this cruise for the itinerary. Had not sailed with Celebrity before but reviews were generally good. We were disappointed. Most cruise lines want to extract your cash but Celebrity take this to another level. Definitely not to the standard of Princess or Cunard. Their entertainment programme, especially for five consecutive sea days was very thin. Not everyone wants to lie on a sun bed all day. Their customer service is appalling; once we arrived in Abu Dhabi for a two day stop over diesel tankers directly below our stateroom were refuelling all night, both nights. When we complained we were told it was out of their hands although after much pressure from us they moved us on the second night. Never, ever again. There are much better cruise lines out there that won't cost you as much. Embarkation was a little chaotic but nothing to compare with disembarkation. We were off the ship by 7.15 am and directed to our coach transfer to the airport. We then sat there for 45 minutes while they decided who should be on the coach. Other people we knew on the same flight as us home didn't disembark until 8.15am. Dining in the restaurant offered limited choice and the presentation of menus was poor, with tired, tatty looking menus that looked as if they hadn't been changed for months. Service however was very good. Read Less

The holiday was part of my wife's 80th birthday celebration. Having been several cruises with other companies we wanted to try out the Celebrity Cruise line. Also we had never before been through the Suez Canal. We spent a few days in Rome (a city we are familiar with) before the cruise and then a few days in Dubai (a new experience) at the end. Seen it now - wouldn't go back! The ship was very good (maybe a little bit tired) but the cabin was excellent and the organisation and staff first class. We old folks took part in lots of on-board activities and particularly enjoyed the entertainment - especially the very informative lectures. The upstairs buffet was very good but unfortunately the main dinning room not so. Many people complained about the slow service and on occasions the piped music made conversation impossible. I've never had such a bad crepe suzette. Would we go again with Celebrity ? Well, maybe. While we can perhaps afford it, I'm never comfortable feeling I'm being "ripped off". The excursions were well over priced; $300 up front for gratuities plus 18% on all drinks (come on !!) and $530 for Wi Fi - even the ship's comedian thought it was a joke. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, we had a great holiday - thoroughly enjoyed it. However, our two immediately previous cruises on TUI Discovery and the Allure of the Seas were equally good, if not better value for money. Celebrity Cruises are good - but not as good as they think they are. Read Less

Let me start by saying the majority of the staff were great. I found some of the male help in the dining room did not give way to any females, even when they, the female, had the right of way. I found the decor of the ship drab and the floor plan very confusing. The organization of the ship/ships crew I found to be disorganized. Why, for the love of sanity, would a crew member to told to paint the cafe during breakfast and lunch? The fumes were horrible and very unappetizing. Why not do it at night when there would be less people there? The offering of entertainment/activities I found to be very limiting. Why are there always more offerings for activities that are trying to sell you something? More for their pocketbook, I know. The offerings for this cruise was very limited, compared to other cruise lines, in my experience. The food was the most distressing. My DH and I do not tolerate spices and almost every dish we had was unedible because of having too much spice. Even foods not expected to have spice, was spicy. My mouth was on fire the majority of the trip. The mineral bath was fantastic! And it was free! Other cruise lines charge for the use. The activity of Improvisation was the most fun we have had on a cruise line in a long, long time. It was just not long enough. Speaking of service, my DH has a problem with his arms and requires ice packs at night. The crew was most helpful in providing that in the middle of the night. They were great. Would I go again? Probably not on a Celebrity again. Read Less

We selected this cruise based on the interesting itinerary from Rome to Abu Dhabi, including a journey through the Suez Canal and a trip to Petra from Aqaba, Jordan. The ports were all a lot of fun and interesting. Several were easy enough to do on our own. Our time was limited in Catania and Muscat, so I wish we were there for more hours. The cruise was long with many sea days, but we enjoyed the different activities the Celebrity Constellation offered. I wish they would vary the timing of activities from day to day so we could do more. For instance, if you decide to participate in trivia, it's at the same time daily and often conflicts with several other things on the schedule. Also, the schedule is packed from 10am-3pm, but not much going on in the late afternoon. While the Constellation is an older ship, it didn't feel old and they've done a good job keeping it updated. We found our cabin comfortable and the ship easy to get around. The food in the Oceanview Cafe was great for breakfast and lunch, offering a wide variety. We also enjoyed access to ice cream and cookies in the afternoon. We had great service by a couple of different waiters in the main dining room (a few not so great servers). For the most part, the food was good, but not great. We had a few misses. The entertainment was predictable but enjoyable. The production cast and musicians were very good, and we liked the theme nights in the Reflections lounge in the late evening. Read Less

We were very excited about this cruise and choose celebrity with its great reputation and with this ship having so many sea days we wanted to make sure we had great food and great entertainment... we were in an aqua spa suit with balcony and on first impressions although it was dated it was very clean so we were happy well this didn’t last long... our room was above the main buffet so it was noisy and constantly smelt of food and the overwhelming strong garlic smell that stuck to our clothes and was in our room and throughout the corridor was sickening... the main buffet served the same everyday just changing the meat, the man carving the meat would just pick it up with his hands and chuck it on your plate even though he was wearing gloves it put you off eating it he was very rude and he had an argument with a guest because he manhandled his food so bad half of it miss his plate, it was like being served in prison...I always eat fresh vegetables at home so much to my shock and surprise to find them serving only frozen vegetables in the buffet they were tasteless and soggy quite frankly vile... I can confirm it was frozen veg as every day we saw a member of staff walking through our corridor with bags of frozen veg taking it down to the buffet... there was a particular group of people that spend all day and all night in the smoking area getting drunk which is fine until they were so drunk they were swearing shouting racist remarks being rude to the bar staff chucking rubbish and bottles all over the floor and upsetting many guest around them... where was the ships security why were these people aloud to carry on... if i had been told for 3 days of this cruise the outer decks would be shut down and lighting turned down for safety because of pirates I would have never booked this cruise, this also ment if you had paid for a balcony you couldn’t go on it the lights had to be off curtains shut... our room was difficult to get to and from with the amount of areas shut down on the ship and I saw many elderly people struggling to get to there room in the dark and getting lost in fact we helped a few and we don’t even work on the ship... entertainment well if you can call it entertainment was diabolical the best singer I saw on that ship was a guest getting up to sing in karaoke, the shows were so amateur that it was embarrassing to watch I never saw any to the end cos it was awful, celebrity need to take a leaf out of Norwegian books they had amazing shows, they charge 25 dollars per person to play deal or no deal I know other ships charge 20 dollars, the only good thing the entrainment team put on was the silent disco... tv channels consist of all about celebrity cruises a bit of sport and news channels if you want to watch a movie you pay 15 dollars that’s of course if the movie can download now even though they are charging you 15 dollars to watch a movie in your room you can watch some of them films for free in the outdoor cinema total daylight robbery on celebrity’s behalf... also opposite the coffee shop you can purchase ice cream at a cost but you can get the same ice cream in the buffet for free how can you charge people in some parts of the ship and have it for free in other parts of the ship... daylight robbery... the internet is massively over expensive and we need it for my husbands work but over half the time it didn’t work...When we got on the ship we brought a drinks package included soft drinks and alcohol much to our surprise half way through our cruise the had run out of coco cola, Nescafé and other brands not exceptable celebrity especially when it was at the start of the sea days so you had to wait till the next port before they could stock up again and even then there was still beverages unavailable... we wanted champagne with our dinner in the Italian restaurant which was the only nice meal we had they had a long list and we know that’s not encluded but we wanted a romantic night and were more than happy to pay for champagne the only good one they had was Cristal how can you run out of champagne...me and my husband got tummy aches and sickness along with a lot of other guest whilst on this ship, the only time We enjoyed ourself was when we got off the ship in Tormina and Petra... when we docked in Abu Dhabi we changed our flight and came home early because we couldn’t stand to be on this ship a moment longer I can honestly say our bad experience with this ship has put us off cruising for life I certainly will never book with celebrity again Read Less

We chose this cruise line because of the itinerary and that is the only reason, three days in Israel. Three cabins, two generations of cruisers. We have been on lots of cruises, never on Celebrity and never again! Let me start with the positive: big upgraded rooms (we paid for this!) nice staff. Now the negative: we paid to upgrade my parents, we show up at entry, there is no cabin for them and no one seems concerned. I pitched a fit and they found one. They charge for spin and Zumba and yoga classes, a first in my experience. No free Internet --in fact Internet charge was close to $500. Many rooms off limits thruout the cruise for private functions. Unless you drink tap water, coffee (lukewarm) or tea, you pay for ANYTHING you drink. You pay for specialty restaurants. You pay for gelato! Food in dining room and café was unbelievably tasteless even desserts!! Even croissants! No real fridge in rooms. No bottled water.Certain room service items were extra. Ship dirty and smelly Entertainment and activities scant.Forget TV movies and channels, very limited and mostly UK game shows!! Hard sell on everything, in fact, most "activites" were sale shows. 26 such events in ONE DAY. Port lectures were very poor and unreliable, mostly telling you where to shop at their "preferred: shops. It took us three hours to get a rerplacement bathroom light. Towels and sheets are very old and paper thin. Tap water is vile yellowish. Prized for trivia contests were pathetic...sunglass paper cover, small USB stick...?deck of cards Charged $50 for one small sack of laundry. The experience was laughably bad. Avoid at all costs. Me and my husband plus a group of couples of 11 did the 12-Nights Israel and Mediterranean Cruise aboard Celebrity Constellation from October 30 to November 11, 2018. We are all seasoned cruisers having been cruised for 12 or more times aboard Royal Caribbean, Norwegian and Carnival. It’s our first time to cruise with Celebrity. Here are our overall positive and negative comments. Positive Comments: Excellent Wait Staff on the Main Dining on Deck 4 where we had our group nightly dinner. Also most of the morning staff assigned at Oceanview Café on Deck 10 are commendable for their friendliness and quick in responding to our requests. The Hospitality Staff assigned on our decks (Deck 3, 7 and 8) are also friendly and are conscientious workers. One of them managed to memorize our names on the second day of the cruise. The Ultra Violet Party House Band that played at Reflections Lounge (Deck 11) and Rendezvous Lounge (Deck 4) provided excellent music especially catering to those who love disco/ballroom dancing. DJ Carlos is also commendable. Silent Disco was awesome. Negative Comments: I wonder why the staff at Guest Relations (Deck 3) provided different answers to the same question or issue at hand. I don’t normally give up if I wasn’t happy with the answer I received for the question or issue at hand. I noticed that you need to talk to the staff with higher position. For example, in the early morning of November 9 (at sea), I requested for new tags for earlier disembarkation be issued to my group. The first staff I approached at the Guest Relations advised me that she will consult with the team and will contact or leave a message to my stateroom. After a couple of hours, I went back to the Guest Relations desk for an update and this time a different staff but has a position by looking at her uniform. The staff asked me if I was issued the new tags and I said no. Right there and then she printed all the tags for all members of my group. What happens if I didn’t do a follow-up on the matter? Will I be falling in line together with the rest who have issues to be addressed at the last minute? Celebrity has poor security training. One gentleman from my group had a sort of harassment by one of their security staff on Deck 5 (Emporium). This gentleman just paid for his purchases when the security staff approached him suddenly (and rudely) and asked for his Sail Pass. Why would this security staff ask for his Sail Pass upfront? Guests are all scrutinized upon check-in and hence given a valid Sail Pass. When confronted, the security staff went away abruptly without apologizing or gave a reason for his action. We gathered that someone’s husband was missing and my friend was mistakenly identified. More than 24 hours had passed but no apology was issued and so I went to Guest Relations to ask for an update. After a few minutes, another security staff met us only to say that he’s waiting for the perfect time to issue an apology. That was bull. If that was the case, the apology should have been done on that same time and day. Celebrity hires inept staff. One lady in my group had contacted Celebrity a few months before sailing to arrange for distilled water for her CPAP machine. After checking-in, my lady friend went to her stateroom and called Guest Relations for her distilled water. A staff came with an empty water bottle. To cut the long story short, the “distilled water” was delivered to Stateroom 3029 and was used that night. My friend felt something unusual when she used her CPAP and complained to the Guest Relations. Well, what was delivered was distilled water used for batteries! Whoever arranged to fulfill the request was inept. Celebrity should be held responsible if something serious happened to my friend during the cruise. We requested for a special breakfast to be served on the last sea day since we’re aware that there’s a kitchen staff who can cook this breakfast menu. This was set for November 9 at 8:30 am in the main dining room with the maître-d. A couple days before November 9, I requested the maître-d to move the breakfast from 8:30 am to 8:45 am so we can attend the mass officiated daily by the Cruise Chaplain. The maître-d outrightly said NO since 8:45 am is almost closing time for breakfast. Come breakfast on November 9, half of my group were at the dining room at 8:30 am sharp. It was okay even though we didn’t have the same tables that we used nightly. However, to wait for the breakfast to be served way past 9:00 am (about 9:20 am) was unacceptable. It was ridiculous to think that my request to move our breakfast 15 minutes later was not granted! Furthermore, we waited for the service only to find out the rice was uncooked and the “tapa” we requested looked like “beef stroganoff”, the same of which was served at Oceanview Café on Deck 10. Worse, no one approached our tables to offer coffee, juices nor water. It looks like the staff was busy for lunch that day. One last thing re entertainment. The lady that performs with Good Vibes at Rendezvous (Deck 4) didn't look like she's an entertainer with the way she dresses. Lastly, we arrived at 12 noon on embarkation on October 30 at Civitavecchia terminal. However, embarkation was delayed to past 5:00 pm due to weather conditions the previous day. The guests who arrived at that time were offered a bottle of water and a small pack of cookies. Since Celebrity is a big cruise line and their cruises are a bit pricey, the guests should be offered at least decent sandwiches for waiting for more than 4 hours. Since it’s our first time with Celebrity, we will have second thoughts if we will book our future cruises with this cruise line. First impression lasts! Read Less

We chose this cruise due to the ports (Rome, Crete, 3 days Israel, Mykonos, Athens , Naples) and because we liked our cruise on the Celebrity Silhouette in January. This was my 15 cruise (Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, Princess, Carnival, Holland America)and I believe the Constellation is my favorite ship so far. I enjoyed the easy layout and the general ambiance. It is not a party ship and in general I would say that the average age is 50+ and mostly well traveled cruisers but I'm looking to relax on a cruise. My favoite things about this ship: 1) The 3 story bow shaped window at the back of the Marco Polo dining room (fabulous views as we departed the ports) 2) The outside movie theatre. At the back of the ship deck 12 (go to 11th floor then walk upstairs) instead of being at the pool deck. Very nice comfortable lounge furniture. I was surprised with the sun out how well the movie still showed on the screen. 3) Theatre. Very nice size for this size ship, never had a problem finding a seat at either time frame. Nice mixture of entertainment. 4) The table/bar area at the back of the ship just beyond the buffet. Very seldom crowded, quiet place to eat and enjoy a mixture of covered and uncovered seating. 5) Very good ship's excursions and I'm not a great lover of ship's excursions in general but these were exceptional. 6) Many nice quiet nooks inside to sit and read or just converse with friends. We chose those cruise because it was going to places that we wanted to visit and also ports we have never been to be. Right from start it was horrific. We arrived at Rome port to find the ship not there. We were told there would be at least a delay of 6 hours due to bad weather. During that wait, which the cruise company were aware of all we were offered was a small bottle of water and a small packet oftuc biscuits but because they run out of them we had to share. There were not enough seats so we had to stand part of the time. Then we got to our state room to find the air conditioning not working which took them 5 attempts before it was put right. We had to wait in the room to explain the problem each time. Eventually they put a new system in which would have been done on the first visit. Then on 5th day toilet didn’t work so they had to put a new system in there. We asked to be put into a different cabin but we were told the cruise was fully booked. Also our cabin was never cleaned when we first got into it. Our hand towels were a disgrace. I have better dish clothes. The food in the restaurant always came cold and selection very poor. The whole of the ship looked as if it needed refurbishing. I have never been on a cruise where they didn’t have the currency of the places we were visiting. They didn’t even have euros. When we were at sea there was nothing to entertain us except if you were interested in the casino or going to an auction to bid for a painting. There were so many issues I could go on and on about it. It was even more of a disappointment as we were on the cruise to celebrate my husbands special birthday. Read Less
