We took a family cruise on 2/05/16 which consisted of my parents (mid-60's), my sister's family (early 30's with a three year old) and myself and husband (37 & 45). Even my parents said they felt extremely young on this cruise considering it seemed the average age was 85+. We have cruised Carnival, Norwegian and now Holland America, and I will never do another Holland America cruise. The main ...
This was our 14th cruise, our first on Holland America. We cruised with another couple that was on their second cruise, first on Holland America.
Boarding in Ft. Lauderdale went very well. We were on the ship by 11:30 and able to go directly to our rooms. We had also booked a Family Cabana for this cruise and went up to meet our attendants - Rod & Henry. We loved having the cabana - made ...
my wife and I chose this cruise for the itinerary. cruising the panama canal was on the bucket list and we checked that off in grand style on board the Oosterdam our departure from fort Lauderdale went off without a hitch our transfer from the airport to cruise terminal was seamless
once on board we could not have felt more welcome from the extremely friendly and professional staff to our very ...
We are a couple in their late 50 's traveling with our best friends also in their late fifties. We flew in from New York to Fort laudersdale the day before. We stayed at the Embasssy Suites which is less than a mile from Port Everglades and only a few miles from airport. Hotel is very nice and a full hot breakfast is included. We asked at hotel for shuttles from airport and to port in the ...
EMBARKATION—We arrived on an early flight and were in Group 3 to enter the ship. No lines at check-in but had to wait until after 11:30 to board the ship. Our cabin was ready and we went up to Deck 9 Lido for an uncrowded lunch. Was very surprised that the “no touch” rules were not in effect. On our last HAL cruise (2014) the servers handed us everything for the first 2 days to help prevent the ...
I just love Holland America and would suggest spending the extra $$ to get a balcony suite, preferably a Neptune Suite. Our room and balcony was enormous and we had private "membership" to the Neptune Lounge, which is like having the front office, explorations lounge and lido all in one spot. Cappucino, breakfast, all day snacks, comfortable TV viewing area, computer, nice spot to meet people. ...
It's the first time we haven't driven down to Florida from Ont. Ca. We flew using the services of HAL, on A/C, we had checked out the air fares before we booked the flight, and the fares were cheaper than what was quoted with A/C, by a few $. We always arrive the day ahead, especially this time in case of snow, and if the flight was cancelled, needn't have worried, no snow. we booked the ...
The cruise was fine, let me start by saying that. But the ship is showing it's age. People were calling it the "rusterdam" because of all the rust evident everywhere. The chair is our room was in deplorable condition. Took pics and sent them to Guest relations. Arms were filthy and the whole chair stained. The crew was amazing as always.
Did notice some changes in the dining room menu. ...
Our first cruise together was on the Zuiderdam in Fall 2004. With a long Christmas break at work and the availability of a Monday to Monday cruise we decided to sail on her again. This allowed for a two day drive to Fort Lauderdale instead of cramming all 14 hours of the drive into a Saturday as we did for a Sunday to Sunday trip on the Eurodam a couple years back.
This ship is now a bit more ...
Having done the same cruise on NCL, I found HAL quieter, friendlier and more upscale. Their Half Moon Cay was a pleasant surprise - much nicer than NCL's private island. My signature suite was large; you could throw a small party on the balcony. While the Pinnacle Grill was not worth the extra charge, overall the food, especially in the main Vista dining room, was very good.
The entertainment ...
