We have long talked about taking a cruise and this year finally got to do it. We chose Royal Caribbean Navigator of the Seas, mainly because it was recommended by family but mostly because for a first cruise it was short enough for us to just try as a taster around Spain and France, and offered that little bit of extra luxury We found the experience highly enjoyable, we booked a junior suite and couldn't be happier with our choice. We had plenty of room, and a fantastic balcony, along with a walk in wardrobe and bath and shower it was heavenly. There was plenty of storage and the bed was very comfortable. Food and Service in the main dinning room was 5 star. The self service restaurant gave you the opportunity to try as many types of food you can imagine, yet still provided 1st class service.I Whoever trains the staff on board has done a fantastic job as every single member of staff made you feel welcome even if only smiling at you as they passed by in the corridor. The entertainment was great, and had been well thought out to please everyone. We are so pleased with our choice to go on the Navigator of the Seas we`re planning our next trip already The only negative thing we found, was a poor choice of shops and merchandise we would have preferred more options for a ship of it`s size. Because of the kids facilities on board we booked this. Added bonus was that Premium drinks package was included, I reckon that saved me around £500 in a week. Ignore the reviews elsewhere on here criticising the food, the Windjammer Cafe had the most tremendous range of foods you could imagine, no one would ever be stuck for something to eat. We had a 2 night package to go to two of the specialty restaurants, Giovannis was great and Chops Grille was fantastic. The main dining room we went to twice and that was very good too. We had the Galley tour on the last day for lunch and a special lunch was included for around £26 each, well worth it, fantasic lunch. The entertainment was really good, especially the Ice Show which you should not miss; also the Musical theatre is also very good in Metropolis. The only absolute negative was the organisation and frequency that the Ice rink was open for kids, pretty abysmal really. Oh and signing of multiple waivers every time you want to do a different activity, one waiver at the start would be a good move for every activity on board. Read Less

For this years' family friends group holiday we decided to go for a cruise - and it was one the best decisions. It is very convenient holiday and yet full of everything. It starts with parking your car and ship attendants are already at the car park to pick up your luggage. Once checked in, and on-board, it felt like completely different world. We even joked among our friends that this is the ideal society everybody should be dreaming of - just show you sail card and you get everything you need! It was the magic of the premium package sticker on the card - all you drinks were free - wow. Just walking in to the Sapphire dining room felt great and we are dining there everyday. Windjammer is a great place to eat with lot of varieties of food. It was so good and popular that often you won't find table to sit down!" There were so many activities and entertainment events going on - there was not sufficient time for all of them. Jogging on track on Deck 12 was unique experience. Overall it was a very good trip. Chose this cruise as it was from Southampton (no flying) and 6 nights just about as long as I can leave my elderly mum. 1st time on Navigator, shes a large ship, not the newest but immaculate, beautiful and feels very grand. Loved the fact you can walk around the entire ship on deck 4, and even get right to the front to do a "titanic" pose! From the moment me and the missus boarded we had a ball. Plenty of lively bars, and a late night club on deck 14 that rocked until 5am every night! So many fun things to do during the day, lots of entertainment by the pool decks etc We particularly enjoyed the casino, which was very busy even at 3am. The staff were really fun. The food was great, we mainly ate in the buffet it was that tasty. I would recommend the drinks package as its nice to try a load of different cocktails, and its nice to not sign for anything lol Overall Ive done 5 cruises, and this was my Fav ship and Fav staff. 10/10 Read Less

I would definitely comeback. Cabin was excellent, food was delicious at anytime, plenty of variety. Staff were friendly and always happy to help. Sooo much to do for adults, children, never a moment to feel bored. Even with the amount of people you could fine a space just for yourself if you need it. Ice skating show was breathtaking, amazing!!! Entertaining overall was good, shows for the public to take part were hilarious, such a laugh, contagious!!!! . Loved the fact that if you missed a show they were live recorded and broadcast on tv in the rctv the next day. Emergency drills took part a few times, was good to see them in action. Drink packages were too expensive at first when booking, so I didn't bought one, then when there I regretted it, buying as you go IS expensive, so next time for sure will buy one. First cruise and was chosen due to me recently diagnosed with MS and hav mobility issues, drove to Southampton to join the cruise which was ideal and so straight forward with parking and access to ship. Had reservations about if our 2 children aged 12 and 7 would enjoy? No need to have worried, they both loved it and more than enough for them to do. Food in the main dining room was excellent with plenty of choice and accommodating to a fussy 7 yr old eating requests! Entertainment was spot on, more casual dining was also good which we used for breakfast and snacks. We were also pleased that on formal evenings, being smart was sufficient, men were not required to wear suits or even a jacket if they did not wish to, this suited us as we did not want to get too dressed up, we like to relax on holiday. This was our first time cruising with RC. We'd previously sailed with P&O. Firstly, I need to say that we don't do the dressing-up thing & until a couple of years ago we would never have considered going on a cruise. Our nephew got married on Azura & we wouldn't have missed it for the world. We are now, though, officially hooked on the cruise experience. Embarkation was smooth. Cabins were available at 1pm. Sebastian came to introduce himself & when we told him our suitcases weren't there he went off to find them. It's a beautiful ship. We liked the idea of having a street down the middle of deck 5. We mostly ate in Windjammer.I enjoyed the food in there but my husband thought it was too small & not fit for purpose. Food was tasty though & plenty of choice. We don't do the daily entertainment things so can't really comment on them. Cuddy the cruise director was good with a great sense of humour. The lads in 2 Poets Pub were great. Very attentive - Francisco & Bernie in particular. Had a lovely meal in Chops Grille - highly recommended. We might seem like some of the 'chavs' in others' reviews but we're quiet & keep ourselves to ourselves. Read Less

Swimming pools good and jacuzzi were very good. Party down the promenade is a must to see Lots of food to choose from was very good only downside sometimes could of been hotter. We travelled on our very first cruise (Navigator) with RCI in 2016 and booked this cruise onboard last year. Being our second cruise (Navigator) we had things to compare it with and firstly we found that the food in the main dining room was not as good as last year, however the windjammer was excellent. The staff were tremendous, they were always happy and very helpful and we cannot fault them in any way. With the issues we had with the cleanliness of our room I must say that RCI dealt with it professionally and very quickly. Last year we had an interior room but this year we opted for a balcony, we can honestly say it's the balcony every time from now on, fresh air and beautiful views. We have booked with RCI for next year on the Independence (after the refit) and cannot wait to sail again. Thank you RCI for another wonderful holiday and see you next year. Read Less

Everything about the cruise was outstanding. Food was delicious with a large variety of choices. and Rosebeth and Rey, (Sapphire restaurant) who served us were friendly, polite and very informative about the ports of call. They made a great effort with our children and even prepared foods off the menu to cater for their needs. Entertainment was 1st class and my 2 children aged 14 and 16 had a great time and made many friends, due to the first night teenage meeting group. There was plenty of room on the sundecks, for either shade or sun. The gym had a large variety of equipment, which my husband and son enjoyed using every other day. The cities visited were interesting for all, whether you wanted to see historical sites, beaches or just for shopping. All staff couldn't do enough for you. I'd just like to mention Cuddy's meditation class - absolutely brilliant - both my husband and I have really benefited from this seminar. I can't wait until our next cruise. Read Less

We like the med and all that it offers. The ports of call were very nice, if you go to Villa France get the train to Monaco for 6 euro return (or Nice). We bought the day trip to Portofino in advance, it was supposed to be a 90 minute cruise - turned out to be a 10 minute (5.5 euro) trip to the next bay in a water taxi!! Other than that it was an excellent cruise with great entertainment and very good staff. Warning the internet is massively over priced. In fact the daily price for internet was $20 however from the last Thursday until you get off they offer a special price of $26, trouble is they remove the one day option!! The shows were very good with some well known artisans appearing. The waiting staff came round often and were very good. The daily quizzes were fun. Read Less

We travelled with our cousins who have cruised before, we chose this cruise due to the destination and a good price. The staff are excellent, entertainment top notch, food was just the best, tons of activities for all ages, ports were very interesting and exciting although there is never enough time to see everything but that makes me want to go again so I can explore more of the beautiful places we visited. I think the only drawback for me was the children who were allowed to run wild in the lounges and hallways and at no time did I ever see the curfew enforced. I enjoyed the food and looked forward to the variety that was available for every meal. I also looked forward to the evening shows and amongst our group the quizzes were certainly a highlight in our day. Some of the wait staff and bartenders definitely added to the overall experience and made us feel welcome. Read Less

Cruising caters for all ages we went as a family of four including an 18 yr old and 8yr old. You can do as much or as little as you like. The facilities were fantastic, excursions, shows, entertainment, pools, restaurants, bars, shopping, golf, etc etc it has it all a very clean ship. All staff on board were outstanding Our room attendant was so helpful and polite. Also a big thank you to our main dining room waiters who gave excellent service and great recommendations regarding food and drink. The fine dining options offers food of an outstanding quality. Main dining room and buffet options are very good at giving you plenty of food options. The ship in my opinion catered for everyone excellently keep doing what you do its the best holiday i have been on to date and i will someday return. Read Less

We decided to book this cruise as it ticked all of our boxes for a family and for our first cruise! The ship caters very well for all age groups of children The Teen Club was a good meeting point for our eldest aged 17 sadly our 11 year old felt the age 9-11 group was a little too young for her in the activities. We did all of our homework before the trip and decided to discover the Port or nearby City Town by ourselves by all accounts this was the best idea - we managed to see an do everything on our wish list and without any hitch ! We watched most of the entertainment either in the Theatre or on the Ice Rink and Yes we fully enjoyed !! Food was delicious in the Saffire Dining Hall and the waiting staff most attentive - We were a little disappointed with the eating time in the Windjammer if you were not in there for around 8ish the choice dwindled away for a swift close down at 9 ? We try not to fly much now so love to cruise out of Southampton, we love the rewards of the points system, and the friendliness of all the crew, the fab food, not having to do housework. All of this is taken care of with a passion. Our concierge lounge is great, although not big enough and feels a bit like a cupboard. Nadja Durdevic was an exceptional lady concierge and very helpful and dealt with any queries right away, even when she received bad news of her son, she carried on with her job. The 2 bartenders, Vincy and Praveen Babu were excellent too.So professional. In the Sapphire lounge, our head waiter Naji was very efficient and friendly also Manuel who assisted. In Chops Grille, Rogel is the only waiter there from last year, and he was excellent too. We have travelled with Royal Caribbean before and yet again Royal Caribbean were brilliant. Food, Entertainment, Cleanliness, Friendliness of the Crew and Efficiency were second to none. We ate at Johnny Rockets and thought that the prices were good as was the food and entertainment. The only thing I would say is that there wasn't enough areas for sitting when the weather wasn't good and most people were inside. This was particularly noticeable when a show finished and people went to the Café Promenade. We didn't go on any excursions as we find them expensive but all the ports we went to were really good and easy to navigate. A final point we would like to make is that the photographs are ludicrously expensive as the cost to produce them is minimal. Come on Royal Caribbean you would sell far more if you reduced the prices of Excursions, Photographs etc. Read Less

Left home near Coventry at 10:10, on the boat around 14:30, excellent service from Eavesway Travel, slight delay in Southampton getting checked in but then in the cabin by 15:00, first case was outside the door as we left the port the other three arrived over the next hour or so. The ships crew were so friendly wherever you went on the boat and whatever the role they were performing, from the maintenance team, the dining room staff to the cruise directors team and our stateroom attendant. The cabin was kept really clean and despite there being three of us in the one room the storage space was superb. Our balcony was fine at sea but a little scary when in port as we were on deck 9. The food was superb from start to finish and we really enjoyed it, perhaps too much at times. The restaurant staff were fantastic, always looking to help you, collect things for you and provide drinks when needed, empty plates were collected as you put your knife and fork down. Entertainment was really good, always something going on somewhere if you wanted it or quite areas to relax in if that's what you wanted. We were really lucky in that the weather was a scorching 27C as we left Southampton and stayed that way until we entered the English Channel on the way home when it rained most of the way back to Southampton. Some locations were at times just too hot. The stop overs were superb, the captain always gave a full review of each stop before we got there and clear information on arrival and departure times. This was only our second cruise and first one with RCI but we are already talking about the next one and unless something drastic happens it will be with RCI again. Initially picked this cruise due to ports of call. The ship, cabin, dining and service provided was fabulous. Make sure you spend the first/second day on the ship exploring and getting to know the ship and where everything is. There are so many places to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner that offer different experiences. We loved the a la carte breakfast on deck 5 which is included in your holiday. We didn't realise this until day 3. The choice of food and quality was amazing. I am gluten free and on day 2 in the Windjammer there was a whole section of hot and cold food to cater for me, including some lovely chocolate cake and freshly baked bread. The vegetarian burger with the gf bun was amazing. I didn't realise that you could go to guest services each day and get the menu and order something gf so you knew there would be something you would like, which is a great idea. The ports were great, although I would have loved longer in Gibralter, which we thought was a very interesting and amazing port. We did our own thing while exploring each port. We had cabin 3017, which was noisy after midnight until about 2am most nights. I am a light sleeper and my husband is not. Although some nights he found it annoying - lots of heavy footed walking around, scraping of chairs and general working noise. We did phone guest services three times and they sorted it within 5 minutes but felt we did not want to keep complaining as it was working noise from the speciality eating restaurant. Avoid this cabin if noise bothers you. Overall we had the best time ever, can't fault the staff, service, food or anything and when Norovirus struck, they had it contained quickly and stopped it spreading. Only 1% of travellers affected. we chose this cruise for the itinerary and our level of loyalty. after having an okay experience on the liberty in october, we were not expecting this level of service. we chose the grand suite for the 14 days and will not go any other way. it was special from the time we arrived at the pier to the last day. we don't feel it necessary to chose a higher grade suite, since there was plenty of room and storage space for two people. the bathroom was larger than the bathroom we had in the princess suite we had on the queen mary 2. the food in the mdr was much better than expected and breakfast and lunch in chops was over the top. we loved the ports and wouldn't want to change anything. royal has won us over again and plan to take the grandeur in january. this was my 138th cruise and the first time i have written a review for cruise critic. i have sailed a large variety of cruise lines and will consider to do so depending what satisfies our needs. i have my favorites, and will hopefully continue to use them. the reason for my first revue, was the awesome experience we had for a moderately priced cruise line. I have always wanted to visit Scandinavia and particularly St Petersburg. The cruise was even better than I had hoped for and I was sad to leave the ship at the end. My favourite places actually turned out to be Oslo, Helsinki and Bruges (we have decided to spend a long week-end in Bruges as we were so impressed with its architecture and mediaeval beauty - oh, and the chocolate of course!). The food on board was delicious, our stateroom with balcony was perfect and there seemed to be loads of storage space even for the contents of my 3 huge suitcases. The staff can't do enough for you and on day 10 we received a complimentary plate of cakes from the Room Service Manager. I really recommend this trip with Royal Caribbean. I even booked my next Royal Caribbean cruise with my grown up daughter to the Norwegian Fijords whilst I was on board because I was so impressed with the whole cruise. you won't be disappointed. Weather chillier than expected on a couple of days, but who noticed, there is so much to do on this ship that you can never get bored! Love the Promenade, great party nights for 4th July and Brit night plus the Circus Parade on the last evening! Superb entertainment from the cruise shows to invited singers, illusionist and comedians, C and W music in the pub, classical trio, band music, guitarist, pianist and the Navigator orchestra plus the disco! The best organisation in any buffet at sea - never a problem or a queue, only delays were caused by the guests staying in their seats after they had finished - never had to wait in line for anything including freshly cooked omelette- so streamlined, it was perfect! Good and varied food in the restaurant with great waiters! The only drawback on this cruise was that some docks were a long way from the stated cities and there was a steep charge for a shuttle to town - sometimes $20 per person. If the port states a city I think the cruise should take you there! Our promenade view cabin was fine, clean and comfortable bed,but looking a little tired - maybe due for a refurb soon? All public areas were spotless and sparkling in spite of all the glass and mirrors I never saw a dirty smudge anywhere! The cruise excursions were pricey, as usual, we preferred to book privately with T J Tours in St.Petersburg and saw twice the sights for half the price, most other ports we made our own arrangements or shared a taxi. Would definitely recommend the Navigator of the Sea to anyone and hope to travel on her again one day! Read Less

Our 5th Cruise with RCI, was a little concerned after reading the reviews previous to our Cruise. Glad I took them with a pinch of salt. The Navigator is a lovely ship. Spotless clean. Saw hand rails being cleaned all the time. Can honestly say these were the best Staff we have encountered. All the bar staff were friendly and very efficient. All drinks on the package were great from the cocktails to the coffees. The dining room staff on deck 5 my time dining were brilliant. The lovely friendly lady at the entrance managed to get us the same table most nights with John & Komang who were great. They really looked after us . All the food we had was good both in dining room & windjammer. We had a meal in Giovanni s one night which was delicious & well worth the fee. There were advertisements for dining and drinks packages but not once were we approached by staff to buy these. The entertainment was brilliant. Darren Day & Lauren Broad were superb as were the comedians and other shows. Ice show is a must see, had several performances so everyone gets a chance to see it. Entertainment team did a great job with the quizzes etc with most people being indoors due to the weather on sea days. Only criticism really would be to have them in the Star lounge as it's much bigger. The dancing lessons were good but ought to be in a bigger venue too. The disco in the Cosmopolitan Club is the best we have seen on any Cruise. The DJ was fab & it was full every night with all ages. The Itinerary was amazing. We did all the Ports by ourselves making full use of HOHO buses to get around. Russia was the highlight though. We did the 2 day Grande Tour with Alla Tours. The guide Dimitri was brilliant. He was so knowledgeable. We saw some unforgettable sites, we were taken to a wonderful Hotel for a 3 course meal with wine on the 1st day and had a packed lunch on the 2nd day. Even the rain didn't spoil it for us. The Cruise compass was very informative explaining how to get around at all the Ports and the map they provide is very useful. Bruges was the only Port that there was a bit of chaos. There is a free shuttle to the gates but you are better off getting one of the many buses lined up waiting at the Ship into the Centre for €20 return. We only took Euros as currency as most places accepted it or used our Credit Card especially in Russia. Even used it in the gift shop there. The buses take CC as payment also. My hubby even swiped it to use the toilet in Norway. Overall we had a thoroughly enjoyable Cruise and would definitely recommend RCI NOTS Read Less

There were wonderful personal touches and permanent waiting staff such as cabin orderly and dinner waiters very quickly learned our names and particular needs without them being over-bearing or too familiar.
