We cruise with RC quite regularly so it is very easy to notice the ever increasing evidence of cost cutting each time we go on board. It hasn't quite reached the point where I would consider going elsewhere but it's very close. Firstly, the Main Dining Room. Vastly understaffed. Can't blame the wait staff. It's not their fault that there isn't enough of them. Result is a very long wait between courses and the food is always cold when it arrives. I don't really wish to make complaints when I am on holiday but after 3 or 4 visits of cold food and long waits, we found it was better just to go to the Windjammer and serve ourselves. We found the food in the Windjammer to be of really good quality so we didn't miss the MDR at all Secondly, the atmosphere on board had way too much, sell, sell, sell. I appreciate RC is a business and needs to make a profit but constantly making tannoy announcements for sales of this, sales of that, does start to get irritating. Adding 18% to any and all drinks is a bit cheeky. Especially as most of the time I had to go to the bar myself due to the shortage of waiters. There is also a shortage of bar staff. Doing away with providing shampoo and conditioners is a bit stingy. I would rather pay a bit extra and have these provided as opposed to having to bring my own. Also, the ship is beginning to look a bit worn and tired.. Lots of broken seats in the lounges and carpets with frayed edges getting caught on peoples shoes. And one common gripe, there are simply not enough loungers for the amount of passengers on board. We did see a few arguments caused by guests who left towels on loungers all day even when they weren't being used. On the plus side, the cabins are kept spotlessly clean by the stateroom attendants. Two of the headliner acts were good. The comedian and the ventriloquist . The singers and dancers seemed to be just going through the motions. Read Less

we have been regular cruisers with Royal Caribbean, indeed we were on Navigator in 2016, but this vessel has changed since then. It is long overdue it,s refit in January 2019, and gives the appearance of a well used 3 star hotel. The corridor and cabin carpets are worn to say the least and as there had been a virus outbreak on the previous cruise deck 7 and 8 had an interesting aroma of vomit as did our bathroom despite the deep clean. The dining was of the usual high standard as was the excellent service and friendliness of the hard working waiters and room stewards. The itinerary is excellent , although Palma on a Sunday is a ghost town. Entertainment and activities were the standard fare, the in house dancers and singers good. the visiting artistes , several of which we had seen before, were also very entertaining. The Ice show spectacular. The main problem is that there appears to have been a loss of "cruise Experience" the ship is tired, the dress code rubbish, high charges and blue towels spread on empty sunbeds. We had booked Navigator again in Autumn but are having serious doubts about stepping back on board. A pity such a great cruise line through cutbacks and money , money , has on this vessel gone too far? Read Less

BAD POINTS Cabin - misleading description and dated Entertainment - very poor overall Seating for party of 5 almost impossible especially in entertainment venues On board prices - ludicrous Return journey deliberately made slower , if normal speed had been maintained it would be possible to fit in another stop . Lied to us about a compensation agreement and have even changed it again since . Very dissapointed overall as have always praised RC Going back to P&O for next cruise Not worth booking with RC again even with compensation voucher as we would have to spend almost double just to get a few quid knocked off . RC seem to have made everything about money rather than quality . Again , very dissapointed . GOOD POINTS The majority of the general Staff were excellent , The food was amazing as always and Dining Staff were phenomenal . Big Thank you to them Read Less

The was not a classy cruise. More like benidorm on sea! And some of the tattooed specimens on board would have been more at home there. Far too overcrowded. Impossible to get a sun lounger due to people reserving all day(and security doing nothing!). Also the photographers are very aggressive, grabbed my child when he was on his own and made him quite apprehensive of them. Royal Caribbean have to sort this out! Unacceptable! Also the shore excursions state that kids are allowed on them but when trying to book some of them we found out they’re not. Suppliers insurance apparently. Say this on tge brochure. Arcade is a rip off as half the machines don’t work yet accept money. Why do you have to go through arcade to kids club? Its like sweets at supermarket checkouts! Positives. Great waiting staff in main restaurant. Friendly room attendant. Quick action from security on noise complaint of someone playing loud music. Read Less

Honeymoon ... not that any staff recognised this. Having sailed on The Oasis previously, this cruise was way below the Oasis standard. Embarkation and disembarkation were good and fast. Cabin was good size but balcony a bit small. Sheets not changed in the 2 weeks we stayed but was kept clean. Dining in main dining room was excellent, food service was outstanding thanks to our waiter Omar. Mixed feelings about speciality dining ... Chops Grill was exceptional the first time we visited but the second time almost inedible due to the massive amount of salt used in everything. I asked for orange sorbet again the second night and was told they only had ‘rainbow’ sorbet ... this had chunks of ice in it and was quite obviously all the bits of left over tubs mixed together ... not pleasant! There were not enough staff at pool bars and quality of drinks was variable ... staff worked exceptionally hard but had no time to talk or prepare frozen cocktails properly. The worst issues we experienced was the lack of sun beds available. People were leaving towels on them from early morning and not returning for hours! Little enforcement made by staff to remove said towels and we therefore were totally unable to find any sun beds in the sun ... we walked the ship for over an hour one dat trying to find 2 beds ... exasperating!! Headliner shows were OK but nowhere near as good as The Oasis and the crew shows were terrible! On board musicians were excellent and on the whole staff were helpful. Guest Services not as helpful and queues often of over 30 mins. The behaviour of children was often poor and unchallenged ... frequent charging up and down stairs and pressing lift buttons on all floors and often in jacuzzis until midnight! We had the same films showing for the whole 2 weeks. We did our own trip Dolphin Safari in Gibraltar which was excellent and did RC Cádiz Flamenco trip which was also outstanding. In Lisbon we took our own Tuk Tuk which was also brilliant. Palma was a delight and we loved the fact we were there overnight. Cagliari in Sardinia was our least favourite...scruffy and not much to do. Read Less

We chose this cruise to celebrate the 70th birthday of my wife's aunt. Staff was fantastic. Could not fault them one bit. Food at Windjammer was good. Food at other restaurants was average to good. The ship is starting to show clear signs of age and being tired. And cruises like ours that was full of teenagers and kids doesn't help. The behavior of most teenagers was disgusting. Some were even having sex after dark on sunbeds. And kids would scream, run riot and press all the buttons in the lifts. Drunken or smoking Mums were ignoring their kids. It's a cruise, not a bloody creche. Ports and Shore Excursions were good. I went out on every port. We felt let down by the Spa a bit. They tried to charge us gratuity despite us having paid gratuity upfront. The entertainment and activities were good. Generally, the ship is starting to show some signs of age. Carpets need replacing. Wood in lifts needs changing in a few lifts. There are some areas with minor rust. I feel like I need another holiday to get over that one. Read Less

this is the 3 cruise we have been on with Royal Caribbean Vision of the seas and Rhapsody of the seas. We thoroughly enjoyed themtwo ships and would give them 5 for the everything they had made use of the space on the ship and the staff were excellent. Navigator of the sea was different even though it was a larger ship it was missing the personal touch like the other two ships. it advertised a promenade which they said had entertainment on which during my stay only happened twice. and only lasted for 15 minutes. Yes there are two pubs on the promenade but if I wanted to sit in a pub I would of stayed at home. They only had the same amount of shops on board but had spread it out so it looked more.you had two formal nights so you got dressed up but had no were to go were as on the other ships they had an atrium and everyone went there had a waltz and a dance . The atrium was the heart of the ship and I feel this ship was missing that. it says you can dance the night away in a bar but the dance floor could only fit about 5 people on and went into the corridor of the ship. around the pool the other ships had a band and a disco during the day everyone got involved during the day but on this ship nothing you just sat there. the theatre could do with a refurb a bit shabby the staff were friendly but again I felt something was missing. I had recommended royal carrabean to my family and friend but would of felt embarrassed if I had brought them on this ship as it just didn't seem right. the promadande was a waist of space people used it as a walk way. it advertises ice skating and a flow rider but both were only open for about 2 hours for public use on the whole cruise Read Less

We were allocated a room on the 2nd deck, even when the engines had stopped there was a continental weiring all the time, made it very hard to sleep. Hardly any hot water for shower and several broken items in our stateroom. The whole ship needs a revamp. The service in all areas was bad. Would not use the line again at the moment they only seem interested in making money. The drinks were expensive if you were not on a drinks package, and you have to buy 2 of these and as I don’t drink this wasn’t feasible. On the whole the service in the dining room was bad, the first night it took over 2 hours to finish our evening meal. There was nowhere you could get a decent coffee, I asked for a latte in a cup and was told they only use paper cups, awful. Not happy Read Less

Chose this cruise because of the destinations but felt let down by the company's dining experience in the main restaurant. Should have been a fine dining experience but the food was never hot. Stateroom was roomy and well serviced and staff all very friendly. Windjammer restaurant was great for food in mornings and any time during the day so why can't that be replicated in the main dining room. I was not impressed by the different prices charged on wines over the ship with prices in the Sapphire seeming to be higher than the Windjammer, still haven't worked out why. All in all the feelings were that we were a captive audience and RCI were going to take us for as much as they could which is a shame as it could have encouraged us to cruise more but it left negative thoughts rather than positive. Ship apparently has a refit due - hope they do something about the galleys on decks 3,4 & 5 and manage to keep the food hot once prepared. Read Less

This was supposed to be really good value, including a full drinks package and all tips. Not sure that the price we paid was actually that good compared to others. Evening entertainment was very average - only three shows from the troupe in 12 nights. A Comedian and a Ventriloquist - the 70's called - they want their entertainment back. Darren Day really? The 3 tenors style show was great singing, just not my cup of tea. The Access All Areas show was good. Ice Dance show was good. Quizes good, but they really need to get the answers right, too many mistakes. Food quality generally excellent, but the lack of seating in the Windjammer was quite wearing. When having dinner with your partner, you usually want to eat together not one of you get the table and then separately go for your food. Our table in the Sapphire (474) was garbage, no view, dark and dingy stuck in a corner by the managers office. Tours - we didn't use the company tours, booking our own was much, much, better. However, scheduling stops in Norway on a Sunday (everything closed) and Helsinki on Solstice Day (everything closed) is just plain stupid. Red Sun Tours in St Petersburgh were fantastic. Choice of films was a bit limited, but just about acceptable. The bars were ok, as was the range of drinks and beers. The piano player Anthoiny and the singer Ian were both good. the others were competant but not really my thing. The two theme nights seemed to be enjoyed by most people. Cosmopoloitan was the best bar. Library was a joke, nowhere to sit comfortably and read. I really dont understand how a casino cruise has an activity of Bridge, but bring your own cards. Really? the casino cannot afford to put some old cards out for the card players? This has come over a a bit moany and thats maybe not a reflection of my overall enjoyment of the cruise. Both of us enjoyed it, but really hoped for a bit more. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the destination/ ports of call. Starting in Southampton, embarkation was very quick and smooth, staff were friendly and helpful. Staff on board the ship were friendly, helpful and never had any problems apart from when going into the next cruise area to enquire about something and I think it was because it was not about booking a cruise onboard that the gentleman concerned was very rude, apart from that no problems. Our Cabin Steward Stanley was very good without being intrusive. The Dining room staff - Resteraunt Manager, Head Chef and table staff were all very good and tried to solve a problem that we had. Our cabin 6514 was at front and was very large as was the shower room, plenty space in both areas. I have a bad back and found the bed to be not comfortable but our Cabin Steward sorted that out by laying 2 folded duvets under the sheet to make it more comfortable and it worked a treat, no fuss an no bother. The balcony was in need of maintenance and the door was quite hard to slide open and shut. Entertainment on board was a bit hit and miss. The Ice show was fantastic and a couple of the other shows were ok but not anything to shout about. We visited the casino 2 nights but can see how easy it would be to get hooked and spend spend spend and come away with a very empty wallet. Dining was a bit of a problem for us as we are both vegetarian. In the main dining room there is only 1 vegetarian option every night and if you dont like curry or spicey food then its not going to be a good experience. My gripe with this is that if you pay xyz for your holiday and the person in the next cabin pays the same, he has a varied choice of what he can eat, fish, steak, chicken, pork with all the trimmings but you are stuck with a half hearted not very inventive dish on a nightly basis. We brought this to the attention of the Diningroom manager and chef and they did their best to sort things out for us. The food in the dining room never came out hot until the last night. The food in the Windjamer is very good, hot, and plenty of choice. We ate in Giovanni's which was lovely and also Sabor Tapas and that was very good too. Port of Call - Oslo, lovely clean place but we landed there on a Sunday and not much open, we went to the Olympic Ski Jump which was interesting. Copenhagen, went on a trip with RCL. I have a major gripe with these tours, you only get 30 mins free time which is not nearly long enough and this seems to be the norm in all the organised trips in all ports. Did one of the palaces and Tivoli where we had an hour... Tallin, The old town is lovely and worth a stroll through Helsinki, We booked a tour but it was cancelled due to not enough people so landed doing the hop on hop off bus, to be honest it was quite stressful as we got off in Market square and then got back on, the bus took us back to the ship and then to another side of the port to another ship before heading to the rock church which we wanted to see, we arrived back at the bus stop which had several frantic people worried that they would not get back to ship on time as you have to get a shuttle bus from Market square, we were not informed about this when we had to take this as a trip, it turned out that the hop on bus is the shuttle bus, all very confusing, we made it back just in time. St Petersberg, Organised tour of The Metro, Market and Shopping - Metro was an experience but not what we thought it would be and we had researched it before going on holiday. The market that they took us to was awful and every one complained, we were walked through a food market at great pace and the stall holders were none too friendly. We were taken to a cafe/resteraunt for tea and russian pie and got coffee and pancakes........ then we were taken to a shop off the beaten track with 30 mins to use the toilet, get some tea and shop, very rushed, a 3 hour trip lasted 5 hours due to the traffic. Day 2, Church of the spilled blood and river/canal boat trip. Church was so crowded and visit was hurried, boat trip was a disaster as the coach could not get to the river because of traffic and we had to walk some distance on not to good pavements with traffic all around. The river was high therefore we could only go on one canal and was a bit of a let down. The sights and sounds in St Petersberg were good to experience even if most of them were from a coach. Skagen, My favourite, what a lovely place and the weather was superb, we spent about 3 hours just wandering. The Ship, Nothing much to complain about, it is a lovely ship, yes there are things that need to be done and will no doubt be done when it gets a refit but all in all it was good. Read Less

We wanted to visit St Petersburg and considered a number of cruise lines but chose RCI as we thought it was a premium brand. How wrong we were! First the good areas; the “spacious ocean view” cabin and bathroom were very good - probably the best we’ve had on ship or in a hotel for a long time. Very friendly staff even when dealing with the problems below. However, the overall service provided was poor due to the lack of attention to detail, insufficient space for so many guests, getting it right first time and poor ‘systems’. 1. Our first evening meal was in the self service restaurant which was absolutely packed, very noisy and an unpleasant place to try to relax. It’s fine if you want to eat as much as you can in the shortest time possible and then get out. The second night, also a formal night, we tried the main restaurant but had to queue for 30 minutes despite having a reservation time. The meal then took 2 hours to complete for just a starter, main course and desert with 40 minutes waiting for the next course. The waiting time between courses seemed to be the main reason for the queues outside which were bizarre as we could see empty tables presumably for guests with later reservations. A complaint via Guest Services resolved the problem and we received prompt attention for the rest of the cruise. The waiting staff were NOT the cause of the problem as we could see how hard they were working. 2. Excursion tickets missing - quickly resolved by the excursion team but why did it happen? 3. Poor excursion description. A 3 hour Local Life tour that advised guests should be able to walk 2 1/2 miles over rough ground / cobblestones (which is what we wanted) was only a few hundred meters and included a non-advertised 1 hour visit to a coffee shop for cakes. My wife needs a gluten free meal and we would not have taken this excursion if we’d known about the coffee & cake shop. On another excursion, rated as 1/2 mile over rough ground involved 3 hours of walking around a (fabulous) palace. The disabled guests on the excursion found this very challenging. 4. There are far too few public spaces for guests whilst at seas, including the self service restaurant - possibly because so much space is given over to ‘extra cost restaurants’. When I mentioned this to Guest Services the reply was basically “there’s sufficient when we’re in port and guests spread their time using the facilities”. ‘At Sea’ time equaled one third of the whole cruise time. We found ourselves back in our cabin because there was nowhere to sit and relax. 5. Beware of unknown charges on your account. Whilst staff are meant to swipe the on board “credit card” for purchases inc bar service, they can also enter the cabin number. We had over $160 of restaurant bar charges on our account that were not ours. Obviously no one checked the signature against the name on the receipt. We’ve cruised 7 times before with P&O, MSC, Thomson and NCL and never had this much to say about quality issues. It’s a shame because, as I said, the staff (as individuals) were great and tried to sort things out - it’s just the way it’s managed. Read Less

We wanted to see Europe and the ports that Royal was traveling to. The ship looked great when we were looking to go. The weather I’ve there in the summer was supposed to be amazing. So everything lined up to go on this cruise for a family vacation. We didn’t know they we would run into so many problems with our stateroom. The formal dining was great! I just wished windjammer would change up the food chooses for the day and added so different things. It seem like we were eating the same thing over and over. Not much difference day by day. We wish the cruise had a pool table that was fun on serenade of the seas. Over all the ship needs a big upgrades. The staff was super nice and formal dining was always on top, they had so many different food to try and always was willing to explain was something was. Or even brought it out for us to try! The prices of drinks in the bars/restaurants is extortionate. $40 to $70 dollars for a bottle of wine. A can of John Smiths $8. You could not afford to have many drinks on this cruise. The entertainment again was not as good as we have seen on other cruises but I suppose its up to the individual. The ship itself is very big and very nice but very crowded with over 3500 passengers. In my experience, there are four things that make or break a cruise – the ports, the staff, the food and wine experience, and the ship itself. Ports = We rate the ports as 5 out of 5 for this Baltic Capitals cruise. Great cities to visit, every one. Staff = The staff gets a 5. They did their best to make us happy, especially our waiter and cabin steward. Food and Wine = Except for the first night, the food gets 4, consistently good. The wine experience a 2 at best. The first night's dining was a disaster. It started with the wine, or lack of it. On our 16 or so previous cruises, we have always been able to purchase one of several wine packages at dinner with 3, 5 or more bottles of wine, usually selected from a wine list and usually discounted for multi-bottle purchase. When we asked for a wine package our wait staff had no idea what we were talking about. They offered the drinks package, which includes wine, but not what we were looking for. We finally got someone from the wine staff (??) who went into the back and brought back his iPhone and a picture of five bottles of wine which was reported to be the five bottle wine package. The picture was of a poster and the price had been scratched out and a new price added with a black marker. You could not tell from the picture what the wines were, red, white or rose, and could certainly not read the labels. We were told there were 2 whites and 3 reds, which works for us. Fool that I was, I ordered it. Turns out they were inexpensive Italian wines that cost $50 a bottle in the package. We could have done much better ordering from the wine list or from the wine shop on the Promenade. (More to follow.) First course for dinner was escargot which was served lukewarm without a fish fork or bread. Second came the fried calamari which was also cold and greasy. The French onion soup was very hot but baked until the cheese on the top was burned black. The pork chops were tasteless, the strip steak served medium well when ordered medium rare. All in all, a very poor start to our cruise dining experience. At our request, we moved from late to early dining after the first night. We were assured our wine would follow us to the new table. And it did, at least the opened bottles did. Our waiter had to track down the person who sold us the wine package to find the other 3 bottles. By that time they arrived, night two dinner was almost completed. And it had become clear there is no longer any such thing as a wine package on RCCL. Ship = The ship rates about 2 out of 5, mostly for the things that are no longer there. We have sailed on her before and looked forward to doing so again. It is a beautiful ship with some great activities and entertainment. This time, however, there was a constant and disconcerting vibration throughout the ship, most noticeable in our cabin where everything had slight quiver. RCCL in obviously being run by the financial people who have done away with many small things that were previously available. For example: Want to make a note in your cabin? Bring your own pen and paper, because there is none provided. Body lotion or shower gel in the bathroom? Bring your won. Bar snacks when you order a drink? Only if you ask, and only in the Schooner Bar. Room service for breakfast? Was free last time, now it's $8 pp. Sommelier to help with the wine? If there was one, we never saw him/her. Need a place to drop stuff in your cabin? The oval coffee table that previously was between the dressing table and sofa is gone. We moved the balcony table inside. Next day our cabin steward provided a small, well used round table in it's place. Worked find, but what happened to the tables? Want to place or add money to your cabin card for use in the casino? Now there is a fee of 5%. Want a cappuccino after dinner? Be prepared to pay for it. Daily two page newspaper with major news items from around the world? Not anymore. Fish forks for shrimp cocktail or escargot? No longer available. Larger ships once provided support for organizing bridge games on sea days. Now it's available if you do it yourself and bring your own cards. We were once able to tour the galley for free, just sign up. Now it's $89. We did enjoy the cruise, and the ship. But it is disconcerting that RCCL continues to chip away at the small things that add to the pleasure of cruising. Next time we probably go back to Holland America. Read Less

This was a great cruise, but a problematic second experience with Royal Caribbean. The ship is still beautiful but is undoubtedly starting to feel it's age. Some of the areas are looking tired especially the staterooms which have elements that have chipped surfaces and broken drawers. That being said most areas of the ship are in great condition considering the age of the ship. The entertainment also poor compared to last time, but did pass the time. The dining experience on the ship was far below the standards set by our first Royal Caribbean cruise last year. Despite being on the same ship, the food this time was abysmal and the team struggled to accommodate some basic special dietary needs. The dining service was terrible, our waiter was disinterested and spoilt the experience. Our assistant waiter, however, despite the first day of this cruise being his first ever day with Royal Caribbean, shone through merely due to this effort, but was certainly not supported by our waiter or head waiter. Shore excursion embarkation is very slow; we spent nearly an hour after our 'meeting time' waiting for our number to be called. The wifi also was very slow and didn't work for 24 hours of the cruise and there was a lack of variation in the activities. Overall, it was still a great cruise but Royal Caribbean need to start investing more into both their standards of fleet and staff in order not to be overtaken by the competition. Read Less

We chose this cruise line because of the EUROPEAN EXPERIENCE AND LENGTH OF CRUISE. I expected a more Royal experience, but found staff to be overworked and ship understaffed making staff very short in temprement. The 24 hour food experience is totally overated. Lacking in quality and variety. Beverages available are water coffee and iced tea during meals, forcing cruisers to buy the overpriced beverage packages. The specialty restaurant packages again are very expensive and food is mediocre.Entertainment was of the same but nice and well put together. SCHOONER BAR experience was far the most entertaining and fun. The specialty stores have merchandise that is over priced and can easily be found in the USA at lower cost. I would recomend that they add metchandise that is genuine to the counntries visited. Italian leather, spanish and Portugese products, French products. I found that the fashion jewelry is the thing that I can purchase at my local JC Penny. T shirts jackets clothing is extremely expensive, that is why it probably does not sell. At some point they had a sale of Russian Artifacts that had nothing to do with the destinations that we visited. It seemned as though somebody pulled this out of their sleeve last minute to get rid of past merchandise. Very little attention to detail as far as I am concerned. Read Less

We recently took a Transatlantic Cruise on RCL Naviagator of the Seas. We booked an aft cabin (6388). Having cruised many times before in aft cabins we like the ability to see behind us - it makes for great pictures, particularly when leaving a port. Nowhere in any brochure or online does it state that this cabin has an obstructed view. We could not see directly down to the water as there was an extended inaccessable deck outside our balcony which had railings and poles and a crew access deck directly below us. The cruise was completely booked so we could not change our cabin to a regular outside balcony. Upon returning from our cruise I contacted RCL to let them know that overall we were happy with the cruise however our cabin was not was it was advertised as. I even sent them pictures. Their response.......if you can see the horizon of the water, it's not obstructed and therefore should not have interfered with the enjoyment of our cruise. It most certainly did. Our Travel Agent was in agreement with us and will warn potential cruisers of this misinformation. Buyer beware! Remainder of cruise met our expectations. Dining room staff was very good and extremely accommodating. I’m a fussy eater but they always made sure there was something for me on the menu or they made me something special. Couldn’t have asked for more. Loved the fact the Customs was aboard the ship so the day before we docked, we went through customs so upon arrival in Southampton we could quickly depart the ship. For a vacation to relax, we took our dance shoes with us, normally on RCCL, there is dance (ball room) music before dinner and after dinner and if you are lucky the bands can play later too ball room music. On the Navigator of the Seas this time, pre recorded music, dancefloor was too small. The big band can play jazz very well, but no ball room music, the waltz was too quick, rumba too quick, only the cha cha cha went well. the other bands was more for latin lovers. We were very disappointed even wrote the Hotel director Cary Davies to draw his attention to this fact but after calling the last day guest service, why he did not answer our letter, it seems that he lost our letter (we gave this letter personally to him, on the Diamond and above event) a lot of excuses, but it was the last day so no ball room for us, only excuses. Overall the food was very good. The ice show was spectecular we enjoy two times one show was specialy for diamonds and above. The ping pong tables were situated on a bad position, only one table was used the whole day by a group they played with 4, so waiting time was more than one hour while the rule is half an hour, this was bad organized. not sophisticated and certainly not sportive to fellow guests. From Southampton nothing was organized to go to the centre 15 minutes walk, no bus shuttle, only taxis. 1608 atlantic cruise no sun shine on the balcony be aware. Read Less

I traveled with my husband, no children. We arrived in Miami the night before to explore. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Port of Miami. The area was cute but not alot of stuff to do. There was alot of construction and run down buildings in the area. The embarkation and disembarkation processes were a disorganized mess. We were hit with high pressure sales pitches for drink packages, spa days etc as soon as we got on-board. Our safe was malfunctioning when we entered the cabin, it was fixed after I waited on hold for over an hour for guest services to report this issue at the instruction of the guest services desk. I wound up hanging up and our room attendant showed up and he was able to call someone to fix it. Food was lackluster and uninspiring in flavor, variety and cooking quality. Some people at our table in the dining room had clam shells in their pasta. Some food was overcooked or not cooked enough and had to be sent back. Dinner in the dining room felt rushed. Crew and staff were nice and helpful. Labadee was full of sketchy people selling stuff. The lunch on the island was good but the ice for the drinks was in a open tub with no lid, people had to scoop the ice out with a cup and their hand and flies were landing on it. We missed Aruba due to weather but they took us to Nassau instead. The other ports were ok but nothing special. the casino had no smoking signs but people still smoked.. I have cruised with Royal Caribbean before and this trip fell way short of others. The boat feels tired and needs to be dry-docked and refurbished. The pools close way to early in my opinion and need to be cleaned more. Jacuzzi's were dirty as well. Deckchairs were extremely hard to find. People would reserve them and not come back to them for hours even though the rule is for 30 minutes. Movies played at night were good but were repeated way too many times. Bed was extremely uncomfortable. We had random charges for wine on our seapass account from the dining room the last night even though we ate at the windjammer and drank no alcohol that day. Staff removed the charges after i got hung up on once and arguing with the second person. The bus to the airport was overpriced and disorganized and the check in woman was short and rude. Read Less

We booked this cruise so we could be with friends, new and old, from previous cruises. Getting on in Miami was not a good experience. Getting off was just a bad, took forever. The ship was clean but needs refurbishment and a lot of it. The cabin was same as usual and bed comfortable. The food was OK in main DR, good in the Windjammer, and good in Promenade Cafe, although the sandwiches were almost empty. Not as good as before. Shows were good as usual, Service was OK although our cabin attendant was very unattentive. We were disappointed in our cabin person as he didn't respond to our requests. We asked for ice twice a day and sometimes we got and sometimes not. Also, this ship was going on to England after our cruise on the Navigator of the Seas and our cabin attendant starting bringing things for the next cruise passengers into our cabin 2 days before we were getting off. I felt that was wrong as we paid for the cruise until the last day and he was putting things like cups, tablecloth, coffee pot, etc into our cabinets before out things were even moved out. The food on the ship was not as good as earlier days and sometimes came out almost cold. We did not do any shore excursions as we had been to these islands several times before. Didn't make it to Aruba as there was a bad storm heading there and the Captain decided not to chance it. Instead we went into Nassau and many people got off. We did not as, again, we had been there many many times, No children were involved, only those with other people. Most were unruly. I don't thing we will take any more cruises during April, too many kids. We are diamond plus and we will continue to cruise RC but will be looking for different kinds of itineraries other than Caribbean. Looking forward to going on the new ships. Read Less

This was our first time on Royal Caribbean - have cruised on Carnival and Holland America before. We had a great time with friends on the Navigator of the Seas however both the food and the nightly entertainment were very disappointing. Normally I'm excited for the shows each night. This time there was only 1 show that I really enjoyed. The waitstaff in the Sapphire restaurant were really great it's just the food was pretty much the same each night. I had to order eggs every day for breakfast as the rest of the food was not good - pancakes were cold, french toast was covered in sugar, toast and bagels were cold and hard as a rock most times. We thought if we went into the Sapphire restaurant for breakfast at least the toast would be fresh - it wasn't. There was a large variety for lunch in the Windjammer restaurant however it wasn't all that great - even the pizza tasted like it was a frozen pizza. I really liked how Deck 5 was laid out like a city street. We spent many evenings there since the entertainment wasn't very entertaining. There were a lot of deck chairs so we had no problem getting them each day whereas on other ships that was an issue. While my teens didn't like it, I really liked the 1 am curfew for anyone under 18. They also spent a lot of time on the sports deck as there was always something for them to do up there. The staff at guest services were always very helpful Most cruises you are bombarded every evening to get your photo taken - not this one. So I did like that. I also liked the photo gallery concept - they have several kiosks where you can digitally see you photos. However it was closed every time we went to see our photos. on the last night we finally found it open only to have watermarks all over the photos so it was tough to see if it was a good photo or not - therefore we didn't purchase any. Let me start with the food..so very bad! Red Snapper in the dining room you could not cut with a knife, steaks like leather, dry flavorless desserts, rotten baked potato, risotto made with a mystery grain that was nasty and that is just the dining room. We ordered room service one time, and the quesadilla was delivered cold without the garnishments stated on the menu and was so bad we didn’t eat despite the $7.95 service charge (which is a serious rip off but we were hungry). I must mention that the wait staff did a good job, however, the food was so bad in the dining room we only went 4 times during our 9 days on board. Pool chairs were impossible to get since people marked them at 7am and never returned and staff did nothing about it. I moved one towel for my BIL after the chair was marked and left unused for 2 1/2 hours. They came back after a total of 5 hours later. Service in general was rude and I felt like assisting guests were an inconvenience. Going back to Princess! Read Less

We left the hotel around noon and was on the ship by 1 pm so boarding was handled very effectively. We had lunch and windjammers never disappoints but then went to the room and noticed the cleanliness of the room was horrible. This is the last thing I'd think I’d need to worry about on a cruise with RC. The chair in the room and the bathroom had body hair all over it. The couch and the bed sash had these gross white stains and the sheet had some sort of stain on it. I get they have to turn the ship around quickly but still. At least Elroy our room attendant escalated it quickly for us and cleaned up what he could. He arranged to have the couch shampooed and they eventually gave us a bottle of wine to make up for it. What a nice man he was so much so that we chatted with him daily about his family and even wished him a happy Birthday. The one thing that made the ship lose points for me is that they had no access to self service ice or the free drinks. You could only get ice from Windjammers, the bars or having the attendant bring you some. Elroy kept us well stocked and Nigel Brown in windjammers also gave us ice first thing in the morning. It's probably nothing to most but a huge thing for me. The good: The food, itinerary, Solarium pool (lots more kids than I expected so this was a huge benefit) Promenade and Centrum, Windjammer, Sapphire Dining (shout out to Moses), Shopping, Hamish the Trinidadian Singer, the Singers from there theatre shows, Spa. The Ok: the gym (plates were rusting), Ice Rink (always too packed to get in a see a show. They should split up between early and late dining), sports court (always wet first thing in the morning when it was cool) The bad: Hours for gym and Windjammers, lack of staff at guest services and excursion desk, no snack bar on deck 11, pool attendants moving towels of people who saved spots - I could understand moving it after an hour but my wife stepped away to go to the bathroom and they wanted to clear her stuff when I was there and her chair was right beside me. It caused a lot of fights and anxiety. This isn’t something I should have to worry about on vacation. You snooze you lose...don't expect to come late and find a spot. The towel police shouldn't be bailing lazy people out. Overall: It wasn't a bad or great experience. Just average compared to other RC ships I've been on as well as other cruise lines. The hygiene of public areas like the spa and bathrooms were really poor. I made it a mission to find the out of the way bathrooms that didn't smell. The Service is what held it all together.
