By way of background this with my first cruise with Royal Caribbean having previously cruised with P&O and Disney. I am a Brit (relevant as we are never as effusive as our US cousins) and travelling with my Mum on a girls holiday. The trip was 12 nights to the Baltic from Southampton. Ship I know that Navigator of the Seas is due for a dry dock but generally the ship was in good repair even if some of the décor is a little dated now. The ship is of a good size and easy to navigate. I found the boards at the lift (elevators) both useful and informative. This did not of course prevent me regularly walking up the wrong corridor to reach my cabin! Cabin We had a Grand Suite (15654) on Deck 10. This was of a good size (particularly the bathroom) and was kept spotless throughout by our cabin steward Joseph who was friendly and keen but due to limited English we didn't exchange much more than pleasantries in the corridor. The suite had a sofa bed as well as the main bed which worked well for Mum and I giving us both separate sleeping areas. Before cruising I had read a lot about uncomfortable beds but both of us had no issues at all and slept very well. Suite Benefits I know there are a lot of questions about the benefits of a suite and whilst there is a generic list I think there is variety in practice. By way of summary we had: Priority Embarkation Concierge Lounge with canapés and drinks from 5-8pm daily and continental breakfast Breakfast service in Chops Grille Dedicated Seating Area in Metropolis Theatre Reserved Seating on Deck by the Main Pool Priority seating in Anytime Dining Priority Disembarkation from Vintages with Patricia our concierge Dining This is one of two areas where I had issues. We had anytime dining. Firstly if we hadn't had priority seating with our gold card the wait would have been untenable. I heard reports of well over an hour waits. On previous cruises the majority of our dining was in the main dining room at night however due to a mixture of quality of food and menus that held no appeal whatsoever other than 3 nights we dined in the Windjammer. Other guests in the concierge lounge reported long waits and cold or poor quality food on main dining. In one case dinner took 3 hours due to shocking waits between courses. Onto more positive aspects of dining, Chops Grille was fantastic for dinner and the Windjammer was consistently good and often had many of the choices from the main dining room. As there seems to be an obsession with Lobster on the boards I would highlight that this was only available once in the main dining room (second formal night) and as I dined at Chops that night I can't comment on whether it was also available in the Windjammer. Entertainment and Activities First the good: the Soul group that headlined the first night and Tenors Unlimited were excellent. I can't comment on the comedians or musician as we didn't attend those nights. Darren Day was also on the cruise as a headliner and whilst I didn't see the show I think the term headliner is stretching the term. Outside the main theatre the ice show was enjoyable and the guitarist playing on board was always pleasant to listen to. Onto the bad: the ships own performers who did 3 shows (I saw 2) were awful. The quality was frankly embarrassing. With a couple of exceptions the dancers were untalented and disinterested and the singers were decidedly average. We voted with our feet. Service In our cabin and the concierge lounge service was faultless. Elsewhere on the ship there was the usual mix of great, good and fair service. I don't make any particular demands on the staff so can't comment further. Ports and Shore excursions We predominantly self toured with the exception of St Petersburg where we took 3 ship tours (Hermitage (and Gold Room), Peterhof and Fountains, and, a folk evening at the theatre). All ship tours were well organised and the folk evening in particular was fabulous. Slight niggles: the ship could organise disembarkation at St Petersburg better as it was a melee and we were delayed over 30 minutes when 5 from our tour got stuck in the queue which had just stopped moving in the immigration hall. Oslo was visited on a Sunday and it was shut. Unfortunately the same could be said for Helsinki as it was the Midsummer holiday and all shops and some museums were shut. Internet The internet merits its own comments. The speed was particularly poor and in no way could you stream. Embarkation and Disembarkation Both were extremely easy with no issues whatsoever. Summary We have had a wonderful trip and would cruise again with Royal Caribbean. Read Less

Boarding as always with RC very easy and slick. Great cruise destinations although four port days with the two middle days being St Petersburg was very tiring as we had booked the two day tour of St Petersburg which i0 hours each day. It was also quite crowded at the main attractions, but the world cup was on so that didn't help. Food and service in the main sapphire dining room was poor we had five night speciallity dining package which was good so only had five nights dining in the sapphire dining room. the other two nights we spent in the windjammer which was better by far then the main dining room. We were on Navigator in December 16 and the main dining experiance has certainly got worse. not that it was that good then either. The entertainment was also exactly the same as December 16 vertually word for word and dance for dance. Read Less

We have visited the Baltic before and realised that there is much more to see and do than one cruse can cater for. We were in a Grand Suite on deck 10 which was roomy and clean. The suite attendant was efficient but we would have expected a resupply of fruit on a 12 day cruise. The MDR was a disappointment from the start. The two of us were assigned to a table for ten and no one else showed up! Nevertheless it still took almost two hours to get served and the food was mediocre and lukewarm. The next night (a formal evening) we went to Izumi where the food and service was excellent. The following night we did not like the menu in the MDR and ate in the Windjammer. Our actions prompted both the maitre’d and concierge to interrogate us as to why we were not using the MDR. Judging by the amount of people in the Windjammer we were not alone. We spent the rest of the cruise dining in the Winjammer, Izumi and Chops Grill. All were good but the service in Izumi got very slow towards the end. With the exception of the Ice Show, which was excellent, the production shows were poor. There was no spectacle and the songs were by and large unknown. The cast seemed disinterested and just went through there paces. To make matters worse much of it is mimed. By contrast the ice dancers really look like they are enjoying themselves and as a result so does the audience, The featured performers were average to good. The shore trips organised by RCL were very good with excellent guides. In St Petersburg we participated in the 2 day exclusive tour. As There were only 16 participants the guide was able to get us around quite quickly without the need to be constantly round up stragglers. This meant we had more time in locations. I do not think we could have seen more in the two days. Embarkation and disembarkation were effortless in both cases taking less than ten minutes. Read Less

This is the first time for me to travel by cruise, it is an excellent experience. The ship and stateroom are very clean and nice. The stateroom attendant was very efficient and did a good work. The staff on the cruise are very friendly and helpful. Especially the wait persons were very attentive and friendly. We had couples days in the ships cruising and there were lots of things to do during those days, and you would not feel bored in the ship. The environment in the ship was very nice and comfortable. The maintanance of the ships was excellent. Food was very nice and lots of different cuisine and variety to choose for. The menus was slightly different everyday so that you could have different food everyday. And there were some other special restaurants which is worth to try. I would definitely recommend my friends and family to go with this trip with Navigator of the seas. Read Less

We wanted to visit St Petersburg and considered a number of cruise lines but chose RCI as we thought it was a premium brand. How wrong we were! First the good areas; the “spacious ocean view” cabin and bathroom were very good - probably the best we’ve had on ship or in a hotel for a long time. Very friendly staff even when dealing with the problems below. However, the overall service provided was poor due to the lack of attention to detail, insufficient space for so many guests, getting it right first time and poor ‘systems’. 1. Our first evening meal was in the self service restaurant which was absolutely packed, very noisy and an unpleasant place to try to relax. It’s fine if you want to eat as much as you can in the shortest time possible and then get out. The second night, also a formal night, we tried the main restaurant but had to queue for 30 minutes despite having a reservation time. The meal then took 2 hours to complete for just a starter, main course and desert with 40 minutes waiting for the next course. The waiting time between courses seemed to be the main reason for the queues outside which were bizarre as we could see empty tables presumably for guests with later reservations. A complaint via Guest Services resolved the problem and we received prompt attention for the rest of the cruise. The waiting staff were NOT the cause of the problem as we could see how hard they were working. 2. Excursion tickets missing - quickly resolved by the excursion team but why did it happen? 3. Poor excursion description. A 3 hour Local Life tour that advised guests should be able to walk 2 1/2 miles over rough ground / cobblestones (which is what we wanted) was only a few hundred meters and included a non-advertised 1 hour visit to a coffee shop for cakes. My wife needs a gluten free meal and we would not have taken this excursion if we’d known about the coffee & cake shop. On another excursion, rated as 1/2 mile over rough ground involved 3 hours of walking around a (fabulous) palace. The disabled guests on the excursion found this very challenging. 4. There are far too few public spaces for guests whilst at seas, including the self service restaurant - possibly because so much space is given over to ‘extra cost restaurants’. When I mentioned this to Guest Services the reply was basically “there’s sufficient when we’re in port and guests spread their time using the facilities”. ‘At Sea’ time equaled one third of the whole cruise time. We found ourselves back in our cabin because there was nowhere to sit and relax. 5. Beware of unknown charges on your account. Whilst staff are meant to swipe the on board “credit card” for purchases inc bar service, they can also enter the cabin number. We had over $160 of restaurant bar charges on our account that were not ours. Obviously no one checked the signature against the name on the receipt. We’ve cruised 7 times before with P&O, MSC, Thomson and NCL and never had this much to say about quality issues. It’s a shame because, as I said, the staff (as individuals) were great and tried to sort things out - it’s just the way it’s managed. Read Less

I always wanted to go to Scandinavia and st.Petersburg.iheard review from other People about the Royal Caribbean ships how wonderful they are. I had a really wonderful time on the cruise and the food was great!!! The ship was fabulous and the service in the whole was good. The only thing that was bad was the cabin which I feel was falsely advertised and too small meaning four of us had to sleep on bunk beds in a cramped environment. I hit my head a few times and the rest my family found this arrangement really uncomfortable. We did complain to customer services however the ship was full capacity and we couldn’t get an upgrade. In the end we were only given a complimentary meal. Make sure you check your cabin size as this will ruin your holiday! The tours were also really good however I feel there was not enough to do on board on the sailing days. A good holiday despite the above but make sure you book with a travel agent as the website is really misleading. Read Less

We wanted to see Europe and the ports that Royal was traveling to. The ship looked great when we were looking to go. The weather I’ve there in the summer was supposed to be amazing. So everything lined up to go on this cruise for a family vacation. We didn’t know they we would run into so many problems with our stateroom. The formal dining was great! I just wished windjammer would change up the food chooses for the day and added so different things. It seem like we were eating the same thing over and over. Not much difference day by day. We wish the cruise had a pool table that was fun on serenade of the seas. Over all the ship needs a big upgrades. The staff was super nice and formal dining was always on top, they had so many different food to try and always was willing to explain was something was. Or even brought it out for us to try! We had a lovely cruise vacation experience. The crew and staff on board did a great job, working very hard to make sure all your wishes and desires are accommodated. We did only shore excursions through RCI some of which were better than others, times in some of the ports felt very short and lead to feeling rushed on some of the excursions. Really heavy traffic in some of the ports of call also lead to some discomfort and resulted in delays. Cruising is becoming increasingly popular and it seems that the smaller ports of call cannot accommodate and handle the amount of ships and guests flooding their shores. These were minor issues and I believe ultimately it's what you make of every situation. If you go with an open mind and a bit of patience your vacation experience could be just as great. The variety of entertainment was also very good. Some of the shows were a bit load and some events resulted in the promenade getting flooded with too many guests. If you don't mind to stay clear of over crowded areas while activities are happening then you should be in good shape. Read Less

The cruise was good, as was the food and entertainment. Cruise ship staff were excellent. If I have a criticism it would be the distance the ship was docked from the the town/city we were visiting, also the length of time we were allowed to spend on shore at some ports of call was not enough. Food/Dining Cabin Entertainment we all excellent I would go again, but would necessarily go shore at all locations. Tallinn and Saint Petersburg were the highlights of the cruise and would highly recommend visiting them. I did the one and a half day St Petersburg trip. This was very good, but don't expect to see everything, at the places you will be visiting as the museum's and the crowds, are huge. This makes it difficult to get around. Also the is very little time for shopping. Except for one place they take you to, which, is quite expressive. Read Less

We chose this cruise due to the itinerary and destinations and had never been on a cruise before. After this cruise I have to say that we're now complete cruise converts. Such an easy way to travel from check in, to ports to departure. The ship was beautiful with a great choice of bars and restaurants. There was always something to do even on the days we were at sea. The only thing that could potentially have been improved is that at some of the ports the departure time was early so we didn't get that long to explore. We did a couple of the excursions which were fine, but would prefer to explore ourselves so not to be hanging around waiting for other people and this was easy enough to do. The service was second to none and we would have no hesitation in booking with Royal Caribbean again. Read Less

Wanted to visit St Petersburg and do it with family. Overall a very positive experience but not sure if cruising is for us. It’s campervan all the way now because we’ve just bought one. Royston excursion manager excellent and well organised, plus getting on and off board smooth. Security checks slick and organised. I had researched a number of ports so new what I wanted to do. We wanted to experience the midnight sun. Cruise compass daily magazine informative and useful. We would have liked a short talk about ship soon after boarding so that we could become familiar with layout and what to expect. State room attendant very friendly and efficient. Parking at port efficient and made embarkation easy as luggage boarded for you the same goes for disembarkation. Drinks package a must and worry free if you want to enjoy the large variety of drinks. The cruise itself was very enjoyable. The staff were great. The food not so great. A lot of the time the food was lukewarm and the vegetables almost raw. Not very nice. The prices of drinks in the bars/restaurants is extortionate. $40 to $70 dollars for a bottle of wine. A can of John Smiths $8. You could not afford to have many drinks on this cruise. The entertainment again was not as good as we have seen on other cruises but I suppose its up to the individual. The ship itself is very big and very nice but very crowded with over 3500 passengers. On a sea day with inclement weather you could hardly move anywhere as everyone was inside. There was nowhere to get a quiet place to read as music is blaring out everywhere you went. We certainly will not cruise with Royal Caribbean again. Rate 5 out of 10 Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the amazing destinations. Traveling through the Baltic, stopping in Denmark, Norway, Estonia, Finland and finishing up in St.Petersburg in Russia. The destinations did not disappoint...but the food and entertainment were abysmal. The ice show was spectacular...but if all went downhill from there. It was similar to a 70’s holiday camp type entertainment with British themes almost every night...think Butlins....not what you’d associate with international entertainment. Quizzes about British tv programmes...one night the entire main promenade was decked with Union Jack flags and the English national anthem blasted out....then came the entertainment staff similarly decked out in Union Jack clothes singing...it’s nice to be proud of your nationality....but on a Baltic cruise to St. Petersburg amid people from ALL different nationalities it was quite odd and inappropriate. We hadn’t booked a British knees-up for a holiday....or so we thought! The first day I got a hair in my food in the main dining room...they replaced the food quickly but it was very off putting. The windjammer had chips, a new type of meat pie every day, burgers, hot dogs, curry and rice and one roast meat option every day...same all cruise. Pie and chips...again, not what we thought we had booked a cruise for. Our cabin was grubby and had a little hole in the wall through to the next door cabin. We stuffed it with tissue paper. The whole ship could do with an upgrade with regards to decor. Disappointing all in all. The destinations were beautiful but what a shame about the time-deaf entertainment choices and uncreative food offerings. On a positive note, the shore excursions in St. Petersburg were brilliant...and the staff onshore on our way to the ship were great....super helpful. Would recommend the destinations...but maybe think twice about this ship. Didn’t have ONE complaint about the Brilliance of the seas last year...but the Navigator was very different...and not in a good way. Read Less

In my experience, there are four things that make or break a cruise – the ports, the staff, the food and wine experience, and the ship itself. Ports = We rate the ports as 5 out of 5 for this Baltic Capitals cruise. Great cities to visit, every one. Staff = The staff gets a 5. They did their best to make us happy, especially our waiter and cabin steward. Food and Wine = Except for the first night, the food gets 4, consistently good. The wine experience a 2 at best. The first night's dining was a disaster. It started with the wine, or lack of it. On our 16 or so previous cruises, we have always been able to purchase one of several wine packages at dinner with 3, 5 or more bottles of wine, usually selected from a wine list and usually discounted for multi-bottle purchase. When we asked for a wine package our wait staff had no idea what we were talking about. They offered the drinks package, which includes wine, but not what we were looking for. We finally got someone from the wine staff (??) who went into the back and brought back his iPhone and a picture of five bottles of wine which was reported to be the five bottle wine package. The picture was of a poster and the price had been scratched out and a new price added with a black marker. You could not tell from the picture what the wines were, red, white or rose, and could certainly not read the labels. We were told there were 2 whites and 3 reds, which works for us. Fool that I was, I ordered it. Turns out they were inexpensive Italian wines that cost $50 a bottle in the package. We could have done much better ordering from the wine list or from the wine shop on the Promenade. (More to follow.) First course for dinner was escargot which was served lukewarm without a fish fork or bread. Second came the fried calamari which was also cold and greasy. The French onion soup was very hot but baked until the cheese on the top was burned black. The pork chops were tasteless, the strip steak served medium well when ordered medium rare. All in all, a very poor start to our cruise dining experience. At our request, we moved from late to early dining after the first night. We were assured our wine would follow us to the new table. And it did, at least the opened bottles did. Our waiter had to track down the person who sold us the wine package to find the other 3 bottles. By that time they arrived, night two dinner was almost completed. And it had become clear there is no longer any such thing as a wine package on RCCL. Ship = The ship rates about 2 out of 5, mostly for the things that are no longer there. We have sailed on her before and looked forward to doing so again. It is a beautiful ship with some great activities and entertainment. This time, however, there was a constant and disconcerting vibration throughout the ship, most noticeable in our cabin where everything had slight quiver. RCCL in obviously being run by the financial people who have done away with many small things that were previously available. For example: Want to make a note in your cabin? Bring your own pen and paper, because there is none provided. Body lotion or shower gel in the bathroom? Bring your won. Bar snacks when you order a drink? Only if you ask, and only in the Schooner Bar. Room service for breakfast? Was free last time, now it's $8 pp. Sommelier to help with the wine? If there was one, we never saw him/her. Need a place to drop stuff in your cabin? The oval coffee table that previously was between the dressing table and sofa is gone. We moved the balcony table inside. Next day our cabin steward provided a small, well used round table in it's place. Worked find, but what happened to the tables? Want to place or add money to your cabin card for use in the casino? Now there is a fee of 5%. Want a cappuccino after dinner? Be prepared to pay for it. Daily two page newspaper with major news items from around the world? Not anymore. Fish forks for shrimp cocktail or escargot? No longer available. Larger ships once provided support for organizing bridge games on sea days. Now it's available if you do it yourself and bring your own cards. We were once able to tour the galley for free, just sign up. Now it's $89. We did enjoy the cruise, and the ship. But it is disconcerting that RCCL continues to chip away at the small things that add to the pleasure of cruising. Next time we probably go back to Holland America. Read Less

The highlights have been with the tours we have chosen. With the cruise tours been to expensive with went with Alla Tours and I have to say they are the best we have ever had from a cruise ship. From the ease of booking and dealing with them, to the expert and friendly guides. I would highly recommend them. Our cabin was spacious and clean with a extra large balcony at the rear of the ship, sometimes sute did lodge outside but room attendant kept it cleaned. The ship was just the right size for us not to big and not to small. The main theatre had two shows a night which were very good. Read Less

Needing a wheelchair adapted balcony stateroom this was the only cruise available 9 months ago. My husband and I have cruised with RCI many times and deceided that as we had never been to the Baltics before we would give it a go. Much of the ship is looking a bit tired however Navigator is due for a re-fit soon. The stateroom was ok the cabin steward very attentive without being intrusive. We refuse to use the main dinning room (Saphire) due to a bad experience last time with the service. Windjammers, offers a buffet style dinning option that is, in our opinion, far superior although the downside is you don't get to dine with the same people each night. The shows are generally great yet if you've sailed within the last 12 months expect some repitition. Oslo was a lovely clean place. Great people and the food at Olivias by the harbour was reasonably priced. Slight difficultly with drop kerbs in some parts which limited us as to what we could reasonable manage. Copenhagen was a bit tramatic due to the lack of drop kerbs at the drop off, but once in the centre was easy to get around. We ventured to the Tivoli gardens only to find no wheelchair access. Again not the cheapest place to grab a bargain or enjoy a reasonable priced coffee but hey your on holiday. Tallin we opted for a shore excursion as I knew that the old part was cobblestones. Even in the coach it was a nightmare. The amount of tramlines and potholes making it a very uncomfortable journey. My advice would be to save your money, walk off the ship and take a look round the stalls at the harbour. St Petersburg private tour which was amazing fabulous can't wait to return. Our driver stopped every time my husband wanted to, got him off the mini bus, loaded him back on. Our guide, Yulia was terrific and promptly brought out an ipad for the bits that my husband couldn't get close enough to. The Hermitage was totally accessible, they have a wheelchair stairlift at the rear then lifts to the floors above and disabled toilets. The Church of the spilt blood was just as accessible. Hell sinki - waste of time! Took the Wheelchair Adapted tour. Held captive for 1.5hr thought it would never end. Absolutely Not Suitable for Wheelchair users unless you like to be thrown about and go up and down side steets, see Marks & Spencers, H&Ms and a Post Office. Several people complained and were given complimentary meals. Skagen A pearl of a place. Probably took 20 mins to walk in to the centre but very flat and lots of drop kerbs. Quaint place with lots of shops and galleries. Stunning! Shops on the ship are a bit rubbish. Despite the 50% off flash sales you can generally get the same goods cheaper on shore. The connoisseur club (cigar, smoking room and bar where good conversation is had without background music) had the best crowd of people you are every likely to meet. Up to 20 of us made our own entertainment each night. Sandor our bar man was brilliant. Such a shame this room is being abolished. Not everyone smoked but had come to join the ad hoc singing, laughter and conversations. 1st time we've been to the Spanish Tapas Sabor food was authentic and very delicious. Staff were attentive. Previously visited Chops and Giovannis which I would also recommend. Would def go back to a few places. But as they are getting rid of the smoking room (my husband doesn't smoke) we're heading back to P&O in 2019. Read Less

We have just returned from an amazing Baltic Cruise Experience. We thought that the ship was wonderful - it was very clean. The staff are first class could not fault a thing about any of them - special shout out to the Activities Manager he does a brilliant job. The food was incredible- we ate mainly in the Dining room and food and service was incredible. We thought that the food in the Windjammer was excellent too but it was a bit of a scramble at peak times to get a free table even to share. The itinerary was fabulous we loved every port of call but the highlight for us was Russia St Petersburg it was breathtaking. The bars around the ship do fill up quickly and if you are on a late dinner service by the time you have eaten around 10pm the bars are packed and it can be difficult to get a place. If there was a big bar around the size of The Star Lounge where you could chat etc with or without entertainment that would be great but we usually found a place but it just took a bit of walking around. The entertainment was very good we loved The Ice Show, there were shows in The Metropolis each night, there was daily entertainment along The Royal Promenade too. Plenty of quizzes , karaoke and lectures. Our cabin was spacious and we had a very big port hole letting in a lot of light. It was kept immaculately clean by our attendant who was there twice a day. Chose the cruise because of good price for the balcony cabin. Very nice cruise. Enjoyed a lot. I tried many other cruising companies and this was my first cruise with RCI. My expectations were high and ibfigued out that there is a tiny difference to other companies. In some issues RCI were slighly better (MDR), in some NCL was better (shows), in some MSC was better (design) and in some Princess were better (for children). But usually RCI are the most expensive so value for money is not the best. Anyway, if find good price would choose RCI but only new ships as this one showed its age. This cruise was tailored especially for British guests. So fifty percent of shows were some UK comediants that were not so interesting for non UK guests like us. Moreover, looks like RCI just copied PnO entertainment program. So instead being RCI the ship tried to be PnO. The real difference is in a very high level crew members and very good MDR food. Our third cruise aboard a member of the RCI fleet this, we think, proved to be the best so far. Although Hamburg, Oslo and Bruges don't perhaps have the tropical appeal of our earlier voyage on Splendour, this itinerary, with a day at sea in between each port of call proved both very interesting and delightfully relaxing. Check-in at Southampton was busy but smooth and our cabin up to the usual high standards. The ship looked great and the facilities on board were excellent and accesable even on this sell-out, half-term voyage. The food in both the Windjammer and Sapphire dining room was excellent and, of course plentiful. The service was prompt, polite and friendly and, as we have learned over the years, we were glad we had pre-booked a drinks package so we could have as much or as little as we wanted. Nice to see the freshly squeezed orange juice is now included in the drinks package as opposed to the add-on it has been in the past. The entertainment was of a high standard in all venues and there was always plenty going on for the party animals on board. Our one slight niggle was the level of the piped music played in the Sky Bar which was just a little too loud for those seeking a quiet corner during the day to chat or chill. I'm not saying there shouldn't be any background music but this was not really in the background but dominated the room to such an extent that my wife and I left to find somewhere else on one occasion. A minor niggle but one that is probably worth resolving. Overall we had a wonderful week and returned to Southampton rested and revitalised. We will be back on board the RCI fleet soon! Read Less

The overall cruise was great. The ship is amazing considering it's a floating hotel. The room was adequate but slightly dated and showing signs of wear and tear now. The staff were all amazing, the restaurant staff make all the efforts to serve you with what you need and want at all times and are very friendly and helpful. The excursions were overly expensive and the bookings teams are obviously geared to get you to book with them rather than necessarily giving the most appropriate advice. E.g. in Oslo there was an excursion to the statue park by coach which I forget the exact price, but was expensive. We chose to do a bit of research and used Google maps. We walked there which took around 45 minutes and got a team back to the harbour which cost £3.50 or 350 nok. In Bruges we were informed the local buses were infrequent and expensive. However the booked excursion cost $52 each and was only for 3 hours in the city. As soon as you got off the boat However, local coach companies were there offering coach travel, to the same car park as booked ones for €20 each which ran every 30 minutes. Do a bit of research for where you're going before you get there would be my best advice. Also the provisions for under 3s were abysmal. The room was small and offered a few toys on a soft play mats. The activities which ran at 9 am on cruise days were a joke. One day it was bubbles, this consisted of a few bubble wands, most of which were too big for the tiny cup that had the hand soap and water solution in. Needless to say the children were bored in around 30 seconds. The second was story time, which was 2 books on a table. Also, we weren't informed before we travelled , but children who aren't potty trained and would normally wear a swim nappy are not allowed in the pools. My daughter is 2 and shouldn't really be allowed in the pool, but there is no way I could take my water baby on holiday where she could swim almost every day, and say no to her. So you can fill in the gaps. Read Less

Chose this cruise due to half term holiday, and great things on board for the teenagers to participate in. Ports of call were also places we haven't been before so that was also a bonus. Overall the ship is very comfortable, however some of the shows are difficult to get to see due to timings, and the ice show was limited in numbers due to the size of the venue. we missed our cabin slot so didn't get to see it. Don't expect them to cater for any food allergies without a major discussion as despite filling out dietary requirements before boarding, it was not observed and the selection of food was more limited and sometimes difficult to obtain! We got off in oslo and hamburg, both cities have a lot to offer and we had limited to time so were able to get to a few of the attractions in each. Didn't get off in Bruges as been there before I would cruise with royal caribbean again but will be having very strong words with them about their ability to cater for dietary requirements first. Cruising with friends and family.6 in the party all adults. Had a great time . the weather was great , we was round the pool area on sea days . Very comfortable , great laughs from Daniels entertainment . Of the headliner shows Bobby Davro and Jack Pack and Mick miller were excellent shows. Ricci Jay was rubbish . All staff were so helpful and always smiling . The room was cleaned twice a day , and towels changed. Very good service . The food was wonderful in all the resturants , especially in sapphire evening dining. All waiters were great. We all liked a drink and the bar service was fantastic in all the bars .the waiters were so quick with the drinks . Smoking room was a godsend for me aswell . Karaoke was a bit of a let down , not enough songs to choose from and was only on once for the adults, but daniel was a great host. I wasn't happy paying 52 dollar to get to Bruges that was a bit expensive , and went on the 8am bus and when we got there nothing was open till 10am , very disappointing . Bruges itself was beautiful. Overall a great holiday . Read Less

For my husbands birthday which RC never acknowledged loved the entertainment the cruise director and team all worked so hard The cabin was great but the condition on balcony was dirty and had splaters of paint everywhere had to be washed down with my sterile wipes. In general the curtains didn’t not fit let the light in think they had shrunk The condition of the ship was generally dirty the sun beds were filthy I had black stripes on my body for the dirty slats on the chairs. Have photos litter around the decks to. Maybe due to lack of staff or half term very busy cruise .? The food was not up to the standard of previous RC cruises very everyday menu boring by the end of the week in the restaurant The self service was not enough cold fish for buffet All in all the entertainment made up for the issues raised everyone works so hard on board One point on the daily planner it would be helpful to put down what time we are leaving in big letters and wher to next!! We chose this cruise because of the deal. Buy one get second half price and Deluxe drinks package included in the price. Embarkation was smooth and efficient and very early! This was our first time with Royal Caribbean and we very very impressed. The layout of the ship was impressive, not too big but with plenty on offer. Balcony cabin was spacious and maintained beautifully by the cabin attendant Andy. Food was excellent, we had previously booked the 4 night a la carte dining package but the food in the main restaurant was really good so next time we will probably only book 2. However Sabor, the Tapas restaurant was superb so we went twice! We also booked the Chef's table which was worth every penny, a truly memorable experience. We took 2 RCI excursions and one outside company for Oslo. They offered a longer tour and cheaper price which was fabulous.Hamburg with RCI was only OK as the roads were very busy at rush hour in the morning, but the RCI Bruges tour by coach and boat was really good. Last year we were on the P & O Ventura which we enjoyed but the Navigator experience was much much better. We are hooked now on RCI but not with the newest biggest ships, they will be too big for us! This was a great cruise, but a problematic second experience with Royal Caribbean. The ship is still beautiful but is undoubtedly starting to feel it's age. Some of the areas are looking tired especially the staterooms which have elements that have chipped surfaces and broken drawers. That being said most areas of the ship are in great condition considering the age of the ship. The entertainment also poor compared to last time, but did pass the time. The dining experience on the ship was far below the standards set by our first Royal Caribbean cruise last year. Despite being on the same ship, the food this time was abysmal and the team struggled to accommodate some basic special dietary needs. The dining service was terrible, our waiter was disinterested and spoilt the experience. Our assistant waiter, however, despite the first day of this cruise being his first ever day with Royal Caribbean, shone through merely due to this effort, but was certainly not supported by our waiter or head waiter. Shore excursion embarkation is very slow; we spent nearly an hour after our 'meeting time' waiting for our number to be called. The wifi also was very slow and didn't work for 24 hours of the cruise and there was a lack of variation in the activities. Overall, it was still a great cruise but Royal Caribbean need to start investing more into both their standards of fleet and staff in order not to be overtaken by the competition. Read Less
