Travel Agent recommended by a friend & cruise recommended by the Travel Agent. Brilliant cruise experience, no issues will definitely do it again with Royal Caribbean & this ship. Only downside were the onboard prices, the WiFi is not included & @ $12.99 per person per day is very expensive, the photos were great but again very expensive @ $19.99 for just 1. The Spa has fantastic treatments but again is very expensive e.g. file & polish $22 dollars. The staff, service & food were all great, premium drinks at great value with the Deluxe Drinks Package. I paid gratuities up front when booking but would not do this again, it seems better to speak to Guest Services on day 1 of the cruise & ask them to remove any service charges throughout the cruise, then you can tip who you want as much as you want as & when you want to. The onboard movies are promoted as "recent movies" but they weren't really e.g. Mama Mia there were 6 shown & they were repeated throughout the cruise so by week 2 we were . The other onboard activities were fun I particularly enjoyed the Dance Exercise sessions, the Aqua Zomba & the Crew & Passengers pool volley ball. The entertainment in the evening was really good, the orchestra & headline shows were very enjoyable, the ice show was also very good. The various lounge, poolside singers etc. were great particularly the piano man in the Schooner Bar & The Vendettas. Lots of passengers were saving seats in the theatre, tables in the dining room & sun loungers they were also some videoing the shows which was not permitted & in annoying this needs to be monitored much better & dealt with as it can cause arguments among other more considerate guests. we have been regular cruisers with Royal Caribbean, indeed we were on Navigator in 2016, but this vessel has changed since then. It is long overdue it,s refit in January 2019, and gives the appearance of a well used 3 star hotel. The corridor and cabin carpets are worn to say the least and as there had been a virus outbreak on the previous cruise deck 7 and 8 had an interesting aroma of vomit as did our bathroom despite the deep clean. The dining was of the usual high standard as was the excellent service and friendliness of the hard working waiters and room stewards. The itinerary is excellent , although Palma on a Sunday is a ghost town. Entertainment and activities were the standard fare, the in house dancers and singers good. the visiting artistes , several of which we had seen before, were also very entertaining. The Ice show spectacular. The main problem is that there appears to have been a loss of "cruise Experience" the ship is tired, the dress code rubbish, high charges and blue towels spread on empty sunbeds. We had booked Navigator again in Autumn but are having serious doubts about stepping back on board. Boarding in Southampton is so easy and the staff are very informative. Unfortunately there had been an outbreak of norovirus on the previous cruise but staff gave us all the advice we needed for us to stay bug free for the 2 weeks cruising. Once on the ship, it was obvious she was looking very tired and in real need of a facelift. We had a stateroom on deck 7 where the corridors absolutely stank of must and damp, thankfully this didn't extend into our room. The carpet on deck 7 had definitely seen better days, there were lots of sections that had been cut and patched and in several places, it was clear passengers had been sick which had stained badly. Not the sort of thing you really want to see after paying so much money for a dream holiday. Our room attendant, Iwayane was amazing, he worked so hard all of the time and was pleasant, friendly and always there to answer any questions. Our room was clean, tidy and perfect for our needs. The balcony was perfect for the warm evening nights. The food in the dining room was beautifully presented and tasted delicious every night. Our 2 waiters, Iputu and Sorrin made our mealtimes fun and interesting. They bent over backwards to cater for anything we wanted, they stood and chatted a lot and we learnt lots about their lives. We did a galley tour and it was incredible to see the workings of the kitchens onboard, it was also great to see just how clean the areas were. The entertainment onboard can only be described as lazy and lacklustre. Acts that we had seen 2 years ago did the exact same show again. The tribute acts were poor (in my opinion). The RC dancers and singers did an amazing job and showed a lot of commitment, their voices were incredible. The comedian Josh Daniels and the ventriloquist who had won Americans got talent were the highlights of the trip. The theatre unfortunately smelt musty and in places, we swear we could smell urine. Not pleasant. The ports we stopped in were beautiful and everything was perfect, we didn't book any excursions and just wandered off to explore by ourselves. As far as I could see, the ship excursions were extremely expensive. Overall, the staff onboard did an amazing job to make everybody feel happy and relaxed. Most chatted when they passed you and when we stopped in the bars or shops, the staff made us feel like we were very valued customers. Lied to us about a compensation agreement and have even changed it again since . Very dissapointed overall as have always praised RC Going back to P&O for next cruise Not worth booking with RC again even with compensation voucher as we would have to spend almost double just to get a few quid knocked off . RC seem to have made everything about money rather than quality . Again , very dissapointed . We have been on Royal Caribbean before and have always found the ships and service to be fabulous. This cruise and this ship were neither of these things. The ship looks tired and dated and the obvious ‘cutbacks’ are the talking point of the passengers. On arrival in our stateroom,the usual toiletries have been replaced by a pump of shampoo in the shower, and a couple of slim soaps on the sink. No shower caps, no lotion, no shower gel. No pillow chocolates (although they are not missed) in the bars, no nibbles provided, and no water when going ashore (there was some availabe on a couple of ports, but it had to be paid for or pass card swiped if on drinks package) we had a ‘spacious’ balcony cabin on floor 10 which proved to be a mistake, as the decks were power washed at 1/4 to 1 in the morning and woke us up with (a few times) by a blooming loud horrible racket. The ship was fully booked and the windjammer for breakfast and lunch was not a pleasure. Queues, waiting for tables, irritable diners was the norm at both services. Our real bugbear was the ‘towels on sunbeds’ that was blatant on sea days and port days. The pool staff did absolutely nothing about this, even when they were told, and shown beds that had towels, hats glasses etc on them for hours without anyone using them. There were arguments and nastiness with many people and it made the whole relaxing aspect of the holiday a joke. Royal Caribbean have lost their mojo, and this cruise felt a bit like ‘Butlins at sea’. We won’t book with them again. Read Less

Great ship, excellent food, very friendly stuff, great service, interesting activities. I felt very comfortable on the ship and they offer a wide range of great activities such as different dance classes, karaoke, lectures etc. Food is excellent: The Windjammer is a buffet restaurant where one can eat as much as they wish. For breakfast one can also eat in the more elegant Saphire restaurant. Each guest also gets a dinner time to choose for the Saphire restaurant with very kind waiters. My favourite port of call was Gibraltar, which offers amazing views and the monkeys are also a great attraction. However, make sure you buy tickets in advance for going up the rock or walk up there if you are sporty, because otherwise you will have to wait too long in the queue. I would have liked to spend more time there. Lisbon was the second most interesting port of call for me and is an interesting city. Read Less

Choose RC as the service and ships are very good, everything you need for holiday. Plenty to do on and off ship with great itinerary. We found this to be the best value for money and bing our second cruise it didn’t disappoint, staff, food, cleanliness and experience was excellent. Embarking and disembarking was very smooth with RC very organised. Only thing we were unhappy about was lack of room in bars and entertainment venues on navigator of the seas, can be difficult to get a seat later in the evenings. Pool, dining rooms, windjammer, all excellent. Didn’t uses any speciality restaurants as the main dining room food was very very good, didn’t see point in paying extra when such god food is on offer. Kids deck was busy as to be expected and very good, I would have preferred a slide to the flow rider but that could be just a personal choice Read Less

SUNBED: the sunbed/towel situation is out of control. No where near enough beds for the amount of guests onboard, resulting in guests 'reserving' sunbeds from sunrise; even though they have no intent of using them for hours (sometimes reserving them, whilst they go off ship!). Staff should stick to the apparent rule of beds not to be reserved for more than 30 minutes; and actually remove the towels. FOOD: Food excellent although I am gluten intolerant and options for me were quite limited. DRINKS: Very affordable deal with full drinks package free; well worth it. BALCONY: Balcony is a must as there is very limited room on deck, with little space and limited sun beds for the amount of guests on board. Balcony provides your own space. All in all, a good holiday but Royal Caribbean can improve. Read Less

Impossible to get a sun lounger due to people reserving all day(and security doing nothing!). Also the photographers are very aggressive, grabbed my child when he was on his own and made him quite apprehensive of them. Royal Caribbean have to sort this out! Unacceptable! Also the shore excursions state that kids are allowed on them but when trying to book some of them we found out they’re not. Suppliers insurance apparently. Say this on tge brochure. Arcade is a rip off as half the machines don’t work yet accept money. Why do you have to go through arcade to kids club? Its like sweets at supermarket checkouts! Positives. Great waiting staff in main restaurant. Friendly room attendant. Quick action from security on noise complaint of someone playing loud music. Read Less

Honeymoon ... not that any staff recognised this. Having sailed on The Oasis previously, this cruise was way below the Oasis standard. Embarkation and disembarkation were good and fast. Cabin was good size but balcony a bit small. Sheets not changed in the 2 weeks we stayed but was kept clean. Dining in main dining room was excellent, food service was outstanding thanks to our waiter Omar. Mixed feelings about speciality dining ... Chops Grill was exceptional the first time we visited but the second time almost inedible due to the massive amount of salt used in everything. I asked for orange sorbet again the second night and was told they only had ‘rainbow’ sorbet ... this had chunks of ice in it and was quite obviously all the bits of left over tubs mixed together ... not pleasant! There were not enough staff at pool bars and quality of drinks was variable ... staff worked exceptionally hard but had no time to talk or prepare frozen cocktails properly. The worst issues we experienced was the lack of sun beds available. People were leaving towels on them from early morning and not returning for hours! Little enforcement made by staff to remove said towels and we therefore were totally unable to find any sun beds in the sun ... we walked the ship for over an hour one dat trying to find 2 beds ... exasperating!! Headliner shows were OK but nowhere near as good as The Oasis and the crew shows were terrible! On board musicians were excellent and on the whole staff were helpful. Guest Services not as helpful and queues often of over 30 mins. The behaviour of children was often poor and unchallenged ... frequent charging up and down stairs and pressing lift buttons on all floors and often in jacuzzis until midnight! We had the same films showing for the whole 2 weeks. We did our own trip Dolphin Safari in Gibraltar which was excellent and did RC Cádiz Flamenco trip which was also outstanding. In Lisbon we took our own Tuk Tuk which was also brilliant. Palma was a delight and we loved the fact we were there overnight. Cagliari in Sardinia was our least favourite...scruffy and not much to do. Read Less

We chose this cruise to celebrate the 70th birthday of my wife's aunt. Staff was fantastic. Could not fault them one bit. Food at Windjammer was good. Food at other restaurants was average to good. The ship is starting to show clear signs of age and being tired. And cruises like ours that was full of teenagers and kids doesn't help. The behavior of most teenagers was disgusting. Some were even having sex after dark on sunbeds. And kids would scream, run riot and press all the buttons in the lifts. Drunken or smoking Mums were ignoring their kids. It's a cruise, not a bloody creche. Ports and Shore Excursions were good. I went out on every port. We felt let down by the Spa a bit. They tried to charge us gratuity despite us having paid gratuity upfront. The entertainment and activities were good. Generally, the ship is starting to show some signs of age. Carpets need replacing. Wood in lifts needs changing in a few lifts. There are some areas with minor rust. I feel like I need another holiday to get over that one. Read Less

This was our first cruise and we loved it. Royal Caribbean staff were all very good and focused on ensuring we had a great time. We arranged our own travel to and from the ship which went well. The check in process was fairly seamless inc our bags being taken from back of taxi to our cabins so we could immediately enjoy and explore the ship. The cabins (spacious ocean views) did feel spacious. We were on deck 9 and right at the front of the ship which was great for seeing where we were. Dining experiences in the main dining room were on the whole superb. We didn’t see the value in paying for speciality restaurants. The ports were good with highlights being Lisbon ( the RC Land and Water excursion was superb), Cadiz ( we simply walked off the boat and had a lovely walk along the promenade and then through the narrow city streets - a beautiful city), Gibraltar ( don’t pre book - we simply paid a taxi driver for a 90 min tour of rock and caves and then were dropped back in town. Much cheaper) & Palma ( we did RC Drach Caves tour which was very good). The shuttle bus is a rip off! 20 euros each to get you out of the port!. We thought Sardinia was very shabby and wouldn’t return. Finally, we did RC tour to Guadalest in Alicante which was very pretty. The post booking info could be better and would be the main thing I would want improved. You get a link to log into cruise planner which has options to buy things like drinks package that we had already bought. The information for cruise virgins was poor, especially when you then watch information on tv on the ship that explains all the things you wanted to know before you left! Read Less

Ship was in generally good shape. Some wear but upkept well. Clean roomy ship, bright and cheery. Easy on, easy off. Well organized and pleasant staff. We traveled with mostly folks from Great Britain (we’re from Chicago, USA) and they were terrific. Courteous and friendly. Main Dining. Generally, I enjoy eating at the dining room. I like the formality of dressing for dinner, accompanied by good food and service. However, the quality of the food in the main dining room has deteriorated in all cruise ships. Food is hit or miss. Had oso buco and instead of a full, meaty oxtail, braised if a rich sauce, was served a curled piece of thin cut of beef, curled and brown. Our main waiter was below average. Still learning his job. World disappear for long stretches and could not be found. Assistant server, top notch and attentive. Our steak and shrimp combo dinner came without the shrimp. Our waiter didn’t notice or didn’t care. We had to bring to his attention at which point he would try to correct. I’m sure good help is hard to find, and it shows. Our waiter gave us the feeling that he was hoping we would just leave him alone. Buffet: Better than average. I detest most buffetts but this one was good. Good abundant selection, good variety. Ate here often for quick satisfying meal, mostly breakfast but also lunch an dinner a few times. Clean and well presented choices. Specialty dining, very good. Chops food and service fantastic. Great appetizers, bacon, shrimp cocktail, Caesar salad, bone in rib eye, filet and desert. Top notch food, good wine selection and great professional service. Ate at Giovanni’s table. Also very good but not great. Kids really liked Johnny Rockets. Entertainment was world class. Great shows, talented staff, enjoyed main theater almost every night. Comedians, hypnotists and the ever-talented singers and dancers very enjoyable. Ice show was fun. Enjoyed casino, every night. Not enough poker. Went to yoga class, used steam room, sauna. Kids hung out at teen club, nice athletic activity center, rock climbing wall, plenty to do. Pools nice but never enough chairs. Went to cigar lounge, enjoyed a quality cigar. We played bingo, lost. My son won the Star Wars trivia contest. Also, won 2nd place in archery contest. The itinerary was out of this world. Gibraltar (wife attacked by apes—she’s ok) , Alicante, Spain (beach, reat tapas and gelato winding through narrow city streets), Mallorca overnight (beach, party like a Mediterranean), Sardinia (great coffee in historic villa) Cadiz (walled city, beach and cathedral) Lisbon’s, city tour on foot) Good value trip in exotic, less traveled western Mediterranean beach cities. Time of year and amazing destinations we have never experienced before. Most were easily explored on our own. Great weather may for memorable sunsets and good use of the balcony. Travelling under the Great Belt Bridge with 1.5 metres to spare at midnight was thrilling. We enjoyed the itinerary so much we would repeat the experience one day. Would have liked to call into Stockholm but was not on this itinerary. Entertainment was pretty good especially the pianist in the Schooner Bar which had a great atmosphere. The ships orchestra were brilliant and much enjoyed also as trios at other times. The dining experience was the only thing that let it down - the queues were enormous and sometimes we decided to go without a dessert or we would have missed a show. The service was slow arriving from the kitchen to the table. The food was great when it came but when you are sitting on a table for two it was a long wait and when you are sitting on a larger table we sometimes run out of conversation! We initially wanted to sail ona Celebrity Cruise as we had sailed with them on several occasions before. This time the dates did not match our schedule and so we chose Royal Caribbean instead, to give it a try. This is our first cruise on Royal Caribbean and we were not disappointed. Although some parts the ship looked dated it was fairly clean. The food in the Sapphire dining room was surpruisingly very good. The dining room staff were very attentive to our needs and regularly solicited feedback. They went out of their way to please us, all the time with a cheerfful smile. We appreciated the excellent service of our waitress Ruby capably assisted by her assistant Shivnath. Another pleasant surprise was the lunch salad buffet spread in the Sapphire dining room. Here we could dine in fairly intimate setting away from the hustle and bustle of the Windjammer Cafe. We also appreciated the fact that the ship was able to receive satellite TV programmes and screened the World Cup matches each time the matches were beng played. I only exercised in the gym twice. Each time I noticed that used towels and wet wipes were left uncollected. I felt that this could have been improved. Regarding the entertainment, the ship's orchestra was superb. We enjoyed the dancing and singing shows although not so much the comedian as one had to get used to his humour in order to appreciate it. The magic show and the skating shows were great. We were particularly appreciative of Raffy the pianist. His skills were really excellent. I felt that he should have been a soloist with the ship's orchestra. We made many nice people on board and this greatly enhanced our memorable experience. Read Less

In the last 8 years this would be our 11th cruise, 7 of which have been RCI. We chose this itinerary mainly for the overnight stop in Saint Petersburg and that it called in Oslo, Tallinn and Copenhagen. With a free Deluxe Drinks Package and Free Gratuities, the price for an outside accessible cabin (one of our party in a wheelchair) was quite reasonable. Over the years we've come to expect a certain standard from RCI, the food is normally great, the entertainment some of the best we've seen on land or at sea and the itineraries and arrangements very good indeed. Boarding in Southampton, we were not disappointed, at most 20 minutes from parking the car to boarding the ship. Rooms were ready so we were able to drop our hand luggage and straight off to explore the ship and grab a snack in the Windjammer. My first thought during the Muster Drill was that it seemed very disorganised. In fact, normally there would be a tannoy announcement about the mandatory drill happening at N o'clock, but we heard no announcement, only saw crew stood in stairways with hi-vis jackets and screens advising to proceed to your muster station. One kind crew member took a look at our cards and directed us to the Forward Starboard area where we would find our muster station. When we got there, we actually noticed on one of the way finder screens, that actually our muster station was on the Port side and to the rear of the ship! Our first experience in the dining room was that once again, even though we book a wheelchair accessible room, the table we were allocated for dinner was right at the back of the dining room, off to one side, probably one of the most awkward places to get to. We don't mind, but the other guests tend to get a little annoyed when you're trying to squeeze past them, interrupting their dinner. The menu on night one was ok, nothing special but we had to wait a considerable time as the waiter for our table was alone, and it was his first day. We didn't eat in the main dining room on night 2 as the menu had nothing on it that any of our party fancied, but we accept that this sometimes happens, so just went to the Windjammer, which worked out well as we also wanted to catch a show which would have made dining in the Main Dining Room a rushed affair. As we had purchased a speciality restaurant package for 3 nights and booked the Mystery Theatre Dinner, we ate in Chops grill on night 3, Giovanni's on night 4 and due to a long day ashore, the Windjammer again on night 5. We checked the MDR menu every night and apart from Spaghetti Bolognese or Strip Steak, there was hardly anything that all of us would eat, so we largely continued eating in the Windjammer or Chops. We did return to the MDR on two more occasions, the first of which was again an acceptable meal, but nothing special. The second I actually could not finish my main meal as it was incredibly salty and actually made me feel ill. I had the Strip Steak and honestly had i not ordered it, I'd have thought it was gammon instead of beef!. Entertainment on board was more or less what we expected from RCI. A few guests were not impressed but largely people seemed to enjoy the shows and guest artists. We mostly did our own thing in all the ports as most docked within a short walk to the main town or attractions. The only exception was Saint Petersburg where an organised tour was needed unless you had an independent visa or other escorted tour organised. As a first time in that port, we opted for the safety of the RCI tour, which was a most enjoyable two days, but did feel a little rushed in places. It might have been better to visit a few less churches or museums to have more time in one or two churches and museums, but we still enjoyed it anyway. I am not going to go in detail about each port as everyone has their own taste and can find out a lot of information by googling the locations or looking at sites like Trip Advisor. All I will say is I was not disappointed by any of the ports of call and would certainly return to all of them. In summary, I really enjoyed the cruise and the ports and the features on board the ship, but... RCI are clearly cutting costs, mostly in staff. Bar waiters were lacking, ending up going to bars ourselves to get drinks otherwise we'd be waiting until we were about to leave to get a drink. The food in the Windjammer was largely good with a wide selection for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and we never struggled to find a spot to sit for our group of 4. The Main Dining Room menu has gone downhill in our opinion. The ingredients are simply too specific so people who do not like or are allergic to certain ingredients, such as mushrooms, had a limited selection to start with and nobody really wants to eat a Strip Steak every night for 12 nights! My incident with a salty meal aside, the service was pleasant enough but it did not feel special, or even like a top class restaurant. Chops Grille was as good as always. On the quieter nights the food and service was exceptional, more like that we'd expected in the Main Dining Room, but on the last night, it was very busy and they seemed to struggle to cook consistently good food in the same efficient manner. Once again it seemed that another waiter or two might have been needed, and probably another chef. Our room attendant "Dexter" was great. Very pleasant and helpful and took the time to get to know us and our routines so we was both visible but invisible too, if that makes sense. Finally, I was disappointed that for the first time on any RCI cruise, there was no "The Quest" gameshow put on. This has always been a really great night and something we look forward to, but it simply did not happen. I would certainly look at a baltic cruise again and would consider the Navigator, but I can't help feeling a little disappointed in the experience this time. We chose this itinerary as we had never been to this part of the world before and love RCI. Embarkation/debarkation was flawless and quick. We chose a promenade cabin which was fine, quite quiet and kept clean by Adams. Couldn’t fault the food in the Windjammer, Chops Grille or the MDR. All the staff were very friendly and efficient. Everywhere was kept lovely and clean, all the toilets were spotless always. 2 sides to the entertainment; the first comedian we had do 2 shows was really funny, the 3 tenors were amazing, as was the ventriloquist. Toni Warne was very good too. Unfortunately we didn’t rate the ships singers/dancers very much, they weren’t awful, but not particularly good. They seemed too loud. We also didn’t rate the Queen tribute band, quite a few people did walk out and the comedian on the last night wasn’t too funny (only the last 5 minutes). He seemed to shout too. This is personal taste and only my opinion. The ice show was wonderful, very professional and enjoyable. Wish they did more than one! The shore excursions were good, though St. Petersburg was extremely busy being July, but we did the 2 day tour with RCI and our 2 guides were amazing. Only problem, which we’ve experienced before, is the Americans on our coach pushed to the front for everything, so rude some of them, one nearly knocked me over to get on the coach before me. Why? We all have a seat on the coach and are going to the same place, but they just barged straight to the front of any queue. Urgh! Overall this was an excellent cruise and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I have just returned from a 12 night Northern Europe cruise with my partner and was rather disappointed by the whole experience. The Navigator of the Seas was a very dated and poorly designed ship, and overall the cruise offered little value for money. Cabin We booked an outside cabin (standard with a window). We weren’t expecting to be in the lap of luxury but in all honesty we felt like we were staying in an old caravan. Faded carpets, and worn, poor quality furniture meant that we wanted to spend as little time as possible there. The cabin itself was tidy but unclean – despite the fact our stateroom attendant turned down the bed every day. We had to ask on three separate occasions for stained bedsheets and pillow cases to be replaced. There was dirt in the drawers and thick layers of dust in many places. Not great. Satellite reception on the TV was also poor (shows would regularly freeze or cut out half way through, though I’m not sure if this is common to all ships). Dining A mixed bag. The food itself was decent but not spectacular. The Sapphire Dining Lounge, which is the main a la carte restaurant included in the cost of the cruise, was very pleasant, and had a hint of luxury with a nice winding staircase and chandeliers. The menu each night had a good variety of choice and our waiters were friendly and attentive – couldn’t fault them. However, we still experienced a number of issues. The dining room and bars ran out of a huge number of drinks very early on – we ended up on our fourth or fifth choice of wines about halfway through the cruise and number of cocktails were unavailable owing to a lack of mixers such as ginger beer. We reported this to both the dining room manager and beverages manager, and were assured that extras supplies would be taken on board at the next port and the menus updated accordingly - this didn't happen and communication between the dining room and beverages team was poor. Royal Caribbean knew exactly how many people were on board and what the demand would have been given they have run this route for some time, so this was inexcusable. I also did not understand the dress code for dinner. Royal Caribbean requests that gentlemen wear collared shirts and trousers, yet there were people walking around in football shirts and shorts and no-one challenged them. In and of itself this isn’t necessarily a problem, but if a company sells its experience based on certain rules and standards, then it should at least implement them. By far the most unpleasant experience of the whole trip was the main buffet restaurant, The Windjammer. A piece of advice: if you cruise on the Navigator of the Seas, avoid going here at all costs. It was like the Wild West – so overcrowded you’d be lucky to get your food back to your table without bumping into someone and spilling it all over them. And that’s if you were lucky enough to get a table. It was so busy that one particularly unpleasant individual literally took a chair from underneath me as I was about to sit down. I kid you not. We braved it on three occasions, at different times, and it made no difference. Part of the problem is that dining options are very limited. The Sapphire Dining Lounge is open most days for breakfast and dinner, but it is lunch that is the problem. It was only sporadically open for lunch between 11.00-1.00pm. Ridiculously inconvenient times. Aside from the Royal Promenade Café (open 24 hours but tiny and offering only a limited selection of snacks), the only option for lunch was therefore The Windjammer, and this meant that the whole ship piled in at the same time. Horrible. There are plenty of speciality restaurants on board but you have to pay extra for these and this therefore does not make them an option for many people. On board experience As a whole, absolutely terrible. Our cruise was not sold out but the ship felt horrendously overcrowded. If you wanted a seat in a bar you would have to shark around or loiter until one became available, but this would often take a while. The result was that we spent a significant amount of time wondering around the ship simply for somewhere to sit or to enjoy a drink. The Navigator should be a big enough ship to accommodate its passengers yet it was always an uphill struggle to find a place to relax. The reason for this is that a huge amount of space on board is taken up by a hideous ‘Royal Promenade’ – a mini shopping mall with shops selling perfume, alcohol and garish fashion watches – a huge Casino that was largely unused, and a significant number of speciality restaurants that were half empty most of the time. In short, when designing the ship, Royal Caribbean prioritised taking up space with means of travellers spending as much money as possible, rather than being concerned about their comfort or on board experience. Very disappointing. On the subject of spending money, we constantly got the hard sell from staff to pay for extra activities. It’s not particularly pleasant to be enjoying a quiet drink at a bar, only to have someone shove an ipad in your face and hassle you to dine in a speciality restaurant. Furthermore, by the end of the cruise our cabin bin was full of enough paper encouraging us to spend money to fill a library. There are a range of free activities on board but not enough to meet demand. If you wanted to do a quiz you needed to get there an hour in advance otherwise there’s no chance of getting a table. We tried a simple bean bag tournament on one sea day and it took an hour and a quarter because of the amount of people participating. A key source of frustration was that when you’re on holiday, you like to be able to do what you want, when you want. That was impossible on the Navigator. Costs Opinions on tipping may vary but to my mind, Royal Caribbean’s approach to tipping is excessive. There is an 18%(!) gratuity included in the price for ALL drinks and this cannot be removed. There is also an additional $14.50 gratuity per person, per day added to your on-board account. By the end of our cruise this amounted to over $300 – madness. It can be removed at guest services but the staff serving you will know, so expect a frosty reception if you do. We did this and opted to pay tips in cash…and when we tipped our stateroom attendant, the following day we had an envelope in our room with a list of suggested tip amounts because he felt we hadn’t tipped enough! Disgraceful. Embarkation/disembarkation The highlight of the cruise. Royal Caribbean are very slick when it comes to getting you on and off the ship hassle free. Not once when we embarked or disembarked did we have to wait a long time. The process was incredibly smooth and well-managed. Can’t fault them there. Summary The ports we visited were all great and worth seeing. The only exception was Helsinki, which didn’t have a huge amount to offer. Unfortunately, the brilliant destinations on this cruise were overshadowed by a terrible ship that was dated, overcrowded and expensive. Even the (mostly) pleasant staff and decent food couldn’t redeem it. We will not be sailing with Royal Caribbean again. Read Less

We choose this cruise because of the stops and total days. This was a great way to see other world cities and have a great time doing so. It was our 3rd cruise with Royal Caribbean, a great cruise line and very well organised. Never a dull moment. All the shows were great and the comedians were quite funny. A great variety with dancing and singing by some of the best performers on any ship. The whole crew did an awesome job from housekeeping to dining and other activities. I personally liked the artwork for sale. The variety and quality of art would make any collector happy to attend any or all auctions. The Park West personal were very knowledgeable about all works of art and artists. Adrian and his crew were more than helpful. They even had raffle giveaways which included free art work and even bottles of champagne. All of this is a bucket list must do. Read Less

Chose this cruise for the itinerary and we weren't let down by this - a good selection of ports, places we wouldn't necessarily want to spend a lot of time in but wanted to visit. Boarded at Southampton and cannot fault the efficiency of the staff and check in process. Once on board we were very disappointed with the decor of the ship and the so called 'state room' which looked more like a very poor quality caravan. In fairness, it was clean which was due to the hard work of our cabin steward but was dated and shabby in appearance - had clearly seen better days, probably in the last Century! We dined most of the time in the Sapphire Dining Room which was probably the only spectacular part of the ship. Food was of a high standard but not outstanding, waiting staff, however, were outstanding and very friendly. We had a big problem with a number of wines not been available after the first few days and on a couple of nights our meals had arrived a long time before our wines. Another issue in this dining room is that the dress code is not upheld. I realise this was during the world cup but, even so, we do not need to see a myriad of football shirts, people chanting on their way in and others arriving in shorts and T Shirts. People,where are your trousers? We also visited the Windjammer Restaurant, a big mistake - 'hell on earth' at busy times. The staff do their best to provide good service but are completely overwhelmed by the number of people. At best, it resembles a busy motor way service station. Food here was good but if you got your food first it would be cold by the time you found somewhere to sit. This was largely due the lack of other seating areas on the ship which made people reluctant to move from tables once they had found a seat. Once you left your table to go and get another course you were in danger of losing it. Drink prices on board are very expensive, Royal Caribbean International (RCI) add an 18% service charge to ALL drinks purchased. If that's not bad enough a daily gratuity charge of $14.50 per person is automatically added to the room account. There is no evidence that this is actually distributed among staff. We chose to have this deducted from our account and tipped those staff who had provided good service to us - wake up RCI it is not up to your customers to pay staff wages, tips are in addition to this and paid only if good service is provided! Some of the entertainment was of a good standard, the exception being the Queen tribute band and RCI troupe. The resident orchestra, however, were excellent. Very difficult to participate in quizzes or even get in to the bars as, due to the lack of seating, people arrived early and stayed. It seems that a large amount of the communal areas was taken up by the speciality restaurants, casino and the hideous shopping mall which could have been in any city centre without paying hundreds of pounds for the privilege. From the moment you board RCI seem to want to sell, sell, sell whether it be a shore excursion or your next cruise or even a tour around the ship. This was our first cruise experience with RCI and frankly, not one to be repeated. This did not live up to expectations so will look elsewhere next time. Additional costs made this a very expensive and unsatisfactory experience. Read Less

Navigator of the sea was different even though it was a larger ship it was missing the personal touch like the other two ships. it advertised a promenade which they said had entertainment on which during my stay only happened twice. and only lasted for 15 minutes. Yes there are two pubs on the promenade but if I wanted to sit in a pub I would of stayed at home. They only had the same amount of shops on board but had spread it out so it looked more.you had two formal nights so you got dressed up but had no were to go were as on the other ships they had an atrium and everyone went there had a waltz and a dance . The atrium was the heart of the ship and I feel this ship was missing that. it says you can dance the night away in a bar but the dance floor could only fit about 5 people on and went into the corridor of the ship. around the pool the other ships had a band and a disco during the day everyone got involved during the day but on this ship nothing you just sat there. the theatre could do with a refurb a bit shabby the staff were friendly but again I felt something was missing. I had recommended royal carrabean to my family and friend but would of felt embarrassed if I had brought them on this ship as it just didn't seem right. the promadande was a waist of space people used it as a walk way. it advertises ice skating and a flow rider but both were only open for about 2 hours for public use on the whole cruise Read Less

Hardly any hot water for shower and several broken items in our stateroom. The whole ship needs a revamp. The service in all areas was bad. Would not use the line again at the moment they only seem interested in making money. The drinks were expensive if you were not on a drinks package, and you have to buy 2 of these and as I don’t drink this wasn’t feasible. On the whole the service in the dining room was bad, the first night it took over 2 hours to finish our evening meal. There was nowhere you could get a decent coffee, I asked for a latte in a cup and was told they only use paper cups, awful. Not happy Read Less

Chose this cruise because of the destinations but felt let down by the company's dining experience in the main restaurant. Should have been a fine dining experience but the food was never hot. Stateroom was roomy and well serviced and staff all very friendly. Windjammer restaurant was great for food in mornings and any time during the day so why can't that be replicated in the main dining room. I was not impressed by the different prices charged on wines over the ship with prices in the Sapphire seeming to be higher than the Windjammer, still haven't worked out why. All in all the feelings were that we were a captive audience and RCI were going to take us for as much as they could which is a shame as it could have encouraged us to cruise more but it left negative thoughts rather than positive. Ship apparently has a refit due - hope they do something about the galleys on decks 3,4 & 5 and manage to keep the food hot once prepared. Read Less

Cruise chosen because of destinations. Dining and entertainment was excellent the variety and performers were top class. The service provided by dining room staff and stateroom attendant was excellent and the food was excellent too. The ship was well maintained, clean with first class hygiene standards. We found the excursion staff not as helpful as I would have expected and one or two were quite surly. While an airport transfer was not available on the RCI website in advance a transfer to Gatwick was available on board at $100 whereas National Express was £24 after a short taxi ride for £5. WiFi was $12.99 a day and one had to purchase 12 days. The WiFi was extremely slow and expensive. I would have expected WiFi to be free as it is on board Emirates flights and many coffee shops, airports and National Express buses. We found the ship to be too big and crowded and difficult to find seating in coffee shop, windjammer and lounges. The time ashore at some of the ports of call was too short and the excursions desk would not or could not provide adequate information as to alternative tour arrangements available dockside. On the whole though the cruise was enjoyable with 4 relaxing days at sea and well chosen ports of call. Read Less

We chose this cruise to the Baltics with the Royals as we have sailed with them before and chose this part of the world because we had not been before and don t like the weather to be too hot. We had a suite on deck 10 which we were delighted with so quiet and the view from it was amazing - beds were comfortable and had great sleep. Our Cabin attendant was delightful and looked after us all the time - thank you so much Imade Muliana. We had a delux drink package which would recommend and a five night dining package all the restaurants were exceptional - the Windjammer was also very good - no complaints with any of the food. The shows on board were also of an excellent standard - the activities were excellent something for everyone - what an atmosphere it was electric. The excursions - of which we did five were very interesting and organised exceptionally well. You would never know there were thousands of people on the Navigator it was never overcrowded anywhere you went on the ship. All the staff were 5 * nothing too much trouble and always with a smile anytime of the day or night. Our Daughter and son in law accompanied us on this cruise and they had a great time too. The next trip we go on will be to Alaska most definitely. So thank you Navigator of the Seas and her staff for a wonderful safe and exciting journey Read Less
