This was our ninth cruise in the Caribbean; the entertainment on the ship was fine, a good crowd overall friendly and inviting. The meals in the dinning room were of decent quality with excellent service. The buffet was the same cheap offering daily low quality meats with cold "warm meals" it was the same offering every day with no change, although we found breakfast and the evening meal to be enough. All the ports were very good and the weather was great. The excursions we chose were well worth the money spent and we enjoyed each one. Our Balcony room was clean and well maintained. There are too many areas where "smoking" is permitted and it was a problem, On the pool deck area they allow smoking along the one side of the ship so if the wind is blowing the wrong way the smoke goes everywhere. There are bars where you can't walk by because the smoke is so heavy and the Casino in one large blue cloud of smoke with open entrance ways at each end where the smoke travels freely as well as the staircase up to the promonode where the smoke just wafts out to the cafe area. It seems that Royal Caribbean does not have a concern with the fact that " second hand smoke kills". Read Less

My husband and I decided to surprise our friends who were already booked on this cruise. As walking around the ship to find where everything was, we walked through the casino and could not believe the smell. It was overwhelming like 25 people were smoking cigars, but the casino was closed. We went to the Windjammer for lunch and after walking around it a couple of times, the only thing I looked appealing was the salad bar so I made a salad. Big mistake. I had pains in my stomach and spent the next 2 hours in the bathroom. I am used to passing crew members who always smile and say good morning, beautiful day, etc. The staff was very unfriendly. The food in the main dining room was horrible. Presentation lacking, mashed potatoes every night no matter what you ordered and 2 pieces of asparagus or two slices of zucchini. Seriously? Who gets chicken parmesan with mashed potatoes? Toilets in several cabins didn't flush, paint peeling, rusty bottom of ship, no air conditioning in certain rooms, shows boring, comedian not funny except when he interacted and picked on passengers. Activities at the pool was minimal and basically the same each day. Not very creative. The gym was actually the best part of the ship but who wants to go on a cruise and spend the day in the gym for entertainment. I have cruised many times and the food by far was the worst. They need to retire this ship. Read Less

We chose Royal Caribbean for our honeymoon and were incredibly disappointed. As a platinum member of Royal Caribbean, I was excited to board a ship I hadn't experienced before, and for a once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon experience with my now-husband. First, our stateroom had an odor outside of it that was awful, which we later overheard from the housekeeping staff that an animal had died outside of it recently. So there was that. There was also black marks in the toilet, and mold in our light in the bathroom. Not a little mold, but big grey visible mold. Cleanliness aside, we mentioned our honeymoon to our travel agent and Royal Caribbean when we booked, and nothing was done. There was "no record" of it being our honeymoon. There was also "no record" of a cruise voucher we had called about placing on our account when booking in November/December. I could continue, but I don't think it's worth any more of my time than I've already spent with Royal Caribbean. As a loyal customer for many years, I am very disappointed and do not plan to take a cruise with Royal Caribbean if I can help it for a long time. Read Less

we chose this cruise to go with friends , we booked at the last minute which left us with an inside room. we have had an inside room before, but this was just awful ! The couch was dirty, stained and smelly........the beds smelled like old sweat. overall it was just the worst. the entertainment was poor, and we left most shows after about 10 mins.......the exception was the ice show, we enjoyed it. The food was only ok in the dining room, but the service was excellent ! The food in the windjammer was very good. we tried the specialty restaurants and the food was excellent. DON'T waste your money on the internet service ! We couldn't even text each other ! Overall this ship is showing her age, but the service was excellent.......IF you can put up with really dirty and smelly cabins ! DON'T book inside cabin # 9557 !!! Read Less

Cold, impersonal staff and crew. Cold, undercooked food. Few activities. Crowded activities because there were so few. Poor scheduling of events. Rude cruise directors. Thankful that it wasn't my first cruise because I'd never cruise again if it were. As it is I'll never cruise Royal again. This was our second Royal cruise and the first one was bad too when it came to the personality and professionalism of the staff. But since that was a new ship we gave them the benefit of the doubt because they were still learning the ins and outs of that ship. But the second time showed us that it has nothing to do with the ship, but with how the crew are trained in customer service. Smiles and hellos go a very long way, but we almost never ever saw a smile and only one staff member ever said hello to us first. With everyone else, we had to initiate a greeting. And don't get me started with the eye rolls and sighs of the people that work Guest Services. The nice staff were the ones cleaning the rooms. The ones that were actually supposed to interact with the passengers left a lot to be desired. And the water pressure in the shower was very poor. It took 6 minutes for the hot water to come up. We were a group of 13 people, traveling together for the New Year's cruise on RCCL Navigator of the Seas. From the moment we checked in, we were disappointed in the service we received. While our cabin was beautiful, and our concierge was very accommodating, the whole cruise experience was disappointing and stressful. From dinner on the first night (our dinner table was occupied by other passengers, and the cruise line had a hard time finding a place for us to eat dinner,) to the poor quality of food in the main dining room (NY strip steak was inedible, not even sure it was beef.) This was our second RCCL cruise in 2017. We had cruised in July to Alaska with our kids and grandkids. The cruise line did not confirm our return flight with the airline, and it was cancelled, leaving us stranded in Anchorage, AK. Repeated calls to the cruise line did NOTHING -- the recording stated to contact the airline. The airline said they could not do anything, as the cruise line purchased the ticket and needed to confirm. BOTTOM LINE: DO NOT PURCHASE YOUR AIRFARE FROM RCCL. We ended up buying ANOTHER plane ticket to return home, at a premium price, of course. We have called and emailed the cruise line multiple times, but still have not had a response or a refund for the unused flights. We will not cruise on Royal Caribbean again. Ten years ago, they were wonderful, but poor management, probably starting at the top, has brought this cruise line down. Read Less

Recognition for outstanding service to the Diamond Lounge Concierge JJ. She was such a delightful person and truly the only highlight of my cruise vacation. She made us feel at home at the diamond lounge and was soo attentive to our needs and concerns. She was the best and only good thing we had on this cruise. Now I would like to bring up certain issues I have regarding this cruise vacation: 1- The cafe promenade. I observed the person in charge and she was rude and unprofessional towards the other crew members. It is not right or fair for her to talk to them in a bad matter in front of the guests. This is not acceptable and needs to stop. This is something I have observed going on as a trend on all my previous vacations as well. If a crew member needs to be counseled it needs and must be done behind close doors and not in front of the guests because that is just not wrong and it reflects poorly on Royal Caribbean as a company because it allows individuals like these keep on doing the wrong things. 2- The policy of chairs at the pool deck needs to be seriously looked at. I had to fight and struggle to get a chair to lay out in the sun but no chairs were available since other guests would leave their belongings or leave a towel and they would return way past the 30 minute rule established by Royal Caribbean regarding not reserving chairs. This is a big issue that NEEDS TO STOP!!!. It is unacceptable that I can't even enjoy some sun because I can't find a chair. I should not be going in circles walking all around the pool decks searching for a chair. 3-The dress code at the diamond lounge needs to be fully enforced. It is not the concierge's fault that some guests decide to not follow the rules already set regarding what is appropriate to wear at the diamond lounge. Some guests truly love to take advantage of their status and what I saw people wearing in the lounge was just disgusting and unacceptable. Just because of your crown and anchor society status it does not mean you are free to do whatever you want. Royal Caribbean NEEDS TO REALLY BE FIRM ON RULES!! not fair for me as a diamond member to see other guests dressed like they are going to a beach outing. 4-Minors should not be allowed at all at the diamond lounge. This is a rule that has always existed but on this voyage once again many guests would bring their entire family to the lounge. NO MINORS ALLOWED!! This needs to stop and must be enforced. And this is not at all the diamond lounge concierge because guests truly make things difficult for the concierge and as a great concierge her role is to make things good for everyone regardless. So please do not even think of blaming the concierge because she is phenomenal and amazing. Guests just love to make things complicated which affects all other guests as well. If guests are not willing to follow rules then their crown and anchor status should be revoked or suspended. 5-The food selection at the windjammer was terrible. There was no really good food for me to truly enjoy and eat. I had a terrible time eating and it was terrible. The sugar-free desserts were minimal and once they were gone that was it which is soo disappointing and it should not be this way. It felt that everyday the food selection was the same and nothing truly new or attractive for me to eat. I have never ever been soo upset with the food selection and quality as I had been on this cruise. Royal Caribbean needs to seriously upgrade their food quality and selection and honestly stop being cheap about things. As a loyal cruiser to Royal Caribbean after 17 cruises all with RCCL it is sad to see what is happening and all this scaling back to cut corners truly does not payoff in the end 6- For being a Christmas cruise there was not much of a christmas feeling onboard. It felt that all the hype was all for nothing. There was barely a tree and some basic decorations on the promenade. What I was expecting was more of a winter wonderland but that was not the case. Yes there was a Santa parade but even that was poorly done and many other guests as well were upset with the lack of christmas feeling on this voyage. 7- Room service charge of $7.95 WHY??? This is soo not right and not expected. It caught me by surprise when I saw on the room service menu there was a charge even for lunch items. WOW!!. I can understand if food is ordered after midnight but for lunch and even for breakfast to charge for food like SERIOUSLY ROYAL CARIBBEAN!! For the first time ever after 17 cruises with Royal Caribbean I am very disappointed in the service and product I received. What I paid for does not come not even an inch close to what I received on-board. Read Less

Traveled with my family of 6 and extended family of 20 for our 3rd cruise as a group. Food was sub par, not good at all. Many times served cold and most times was not good. Charging for room service delivery is a disappointment. Coffee or something small on balcony was something I looked forward to. Entertainment was high school level at Best. Service was not as good as years past. RC has def cut back. Would NOT recommend this ship, but more importantly would not recommend Royal Caribbean to anyone. I would consider RC the Walmart of cruise lines. Carnival and Norwegian are with out question much better food, entertainment and value. Traveled with large group, waiter seemed inconvenienenced to get things, entertainment director is very low on talent and the shows and choice of shows was not good. Can’t say enough how disappointed I am, poor management has ruined this cruise line! Read Less

Honestly, this trip was a huge wash for my wife and I. We went here to celebrate our Honeymoon with her family, and we couldn’t be more disappointed. Let’s start at the check-in and boarding process... In effort to ensure no sick individuals are boarding the ship, RCI has everyone fill out a health form. This is great in theory; however, it wasn’t consistent across everyone who checked in. In fact, it was so inconsistent that I’m currently sick with a flu (cold) along with my wife, her brother, and someone else we met on the cruise. We’re 99.9% sure that the person who got us sick was the little kid in the elevator on the first night of our cruise. Glad to see the forms actually worked. (/s). Once we were boarded, we found a gecko crawling around our room. The staff was very quick to point fingers and say we brought it in with us on our luggage. (Which, never mind the fact we dropped it off with the porters, it was apparently OUR fault). It took nearly five contacts with the front desk and our stateroom attendant to finally have the gecko removed. After that, it took an act of congress to even be considered for moving to a new room (which we didn’t for the next reason)... The overall cleanliness was a joke. Our couch was stained, and the floor was very worn. The smell was faint of mildew and the balcony door was nearly impossible to operate. The alternate room we were offered reeked of foundation and makeup, to the point where I could taste the foundation in my mouth. The overall ship’s cleanliness was below other lines - dust collected all over various fixtures, and it was very easy to see through the glass elevators. The only person at guest services who cared the slightest was Lisa Vale. Lisa went above and beyond by offering us one free dinner at a premium restaurant. She mentioned she’d let the cruise director know we were honeymooning and we’d see what they’d do. (Spoiler: nothing). The elevators on this ship are a complete joke too. They need to reprogram the elevators hard core. Currently, the elevators operate in a “first in - first out” approach. Meaning, if you’re on floor four going up, the elevator coming from one to ten will not stop at your floor unless someone has hit four. Bad design, needs reprogramming and overhaul. All in all, I have nothing nice to say about the ship. The food was mediocre, the sanitation was a joke. The cleanliness was laughable, and the overall experience was horrible. I will never book with RCI for any reason, period. Read Less
