This was our first cruise as a family, and it won't be our last. Kids had a blast (9 + 6), and we found the perfect mix of family time and date night time. The kids enjoyed the evening sessions at Adventure Ocean. Service was wonderful, particularly in the MDR. Common areas of the ship were in great shape. State room was showing it's age but not in a way that made a difference for our overall experience. Kids loved the rock climbing, and our daughter enjoyed the Flowrider. Entertainment was good, particularly worth seeing the Ice skating show. Although it was difficult to find a chair by the pool at peak times, it didn't feel nearly as crowded as I expected given it was a sold-out cruise. We had a balcony room, and ended up using the balcony far more than anticipated. We'll be doing an Oasis Class ship for our next cruise, but we wouldn't hesitate to sail on this class again in the future. Read Less

The decor was inviting, a little above average. The room was as expected, same decor and size as most ships. The staff was above average. Very efficient, polite, everyone greeted us. Service was very quick and friendly. We were impressed by the service We didnt partake in any excursions so no comments here The entertainment on the ship was pretty good, not mind blowing, but you could tell they made an effort to keep us entertained especially on sea days. One exceptional thing on the ship was the ladies that took care of the youth programs. AMAZING WOMEN. My daughter never wanted to leave. The only part of the cruise that my wife and I were really disappointed was the quality and variety of the food, especially in the Windjammer buffet. Felt more like the Unjammer at times. Food was very mediocre, and the choices were limited. Dining room was ok but the menu needs more choices. I would recommend themed night, like Italian or Mexican, those are always fun Overall, the cruise was average. What you would expect nothing more. Nothing to blow your mind. This was a good cruise for a family vacation, or couple of college kids with little cash who just want a fun week together. Read Less

My hubby and I each needed 4 more points till D+ so booked a 5 day to Mexico (but stayed on the ship). We arrived at the port of Miami at 11:30am and were on board by noon. This was our first time on Navigator which was pretty much the same as Explorer. This cruise was during spring break so there were over 1,000 children on board which was 25% of the passengers. However they were involved in age appropriate activities so we were never bothered by them. We never ate in the dining room. I purchased the Specialty Dining BOGO for the first two nights. First night was Chop’s Grille where we both had steak medium rare. It was done perfectly. Second night at Giovanni’s and again the filet was perfect. Third night at Izumi’s where we cooked filet on hot rocks. Yum! We ate all breakfasts and lunches in the Windjammer as well as the last two nights. I especially like the Asian food on the buffet at lunch. The Windjammer was very crowded except for the port days, so we always got there when they first opened for lunch to make sure we could get a table. We never went to any of the production shows as they are pretty much the same on all cruises and hold no fascination for us. However we did go to the Ice Skating Show the first night. It was very good. What talent those skaters have! We also went to a couple of movies since we don’t go to many at home. Every evening we went to the Diamond Club where we made new friends. The concierge was very friendly and attentive and the service of the staff was superb! We were in balcony cabin 8334. It isn’t as large as the junior suites that we normally book, but was still roomy enough for the two of us. Our cabin steward Henrique Took good care of us. As far as debarkation, everything went very smoothly. We were off the ship by 8am, went through customs in a flash and were on our way. We have Global Entry cards so were able to go through customs in a very short line. All in all, a very nice cruise! We love Royal. Read Less

Cabin was nice, spacious. no complaints Entertainment....Headliners, comedians were awesome and super funny. The band was really great but the horn players were excellent!! There is always something to do esp in the evening. The service was really good. Honestly great except one particular woman "cashier" in the Casino but not going to let that efect the overall experience. Bartenders are all great!! friendly and fast service. DO your homework on ports of call before you get on the ship. I rented a car on Curacao and Bonaire so we could explore the beaches and snorkel. If you know in advance the best beaches you will save time trying to figure out last min while driving. RESERVE your car rental in advance. It took almost 1 and half hour in Curacao to rent a car, remeber its island time and they dont have many employees. Just one usually who checks you in, then brings you to the car then goes back to the next person waiting. Plus they will usually sell out of cars before you even get to sit down. You can do tours with the ship or walk around and find your own for less cost but you should book ahead of time (at home) before you arrive. DON'T Sleep in when at port. There is not enough time to explore and shop, eat ETC if you are taking your time. Don't be late getting back give yourself ATLEAST 30 mins spare time before you're supposed to get back incase of traffice or unforseen issues. My son is 12 and luckily Royal Carribean pts them in the teen group. So 12- and up. HE LOVED IT!!! so many kids and they have so much to do including their own dinner nights. Its not the same when you have a 12 year old who has to go in 12 and under group like some other cruises do. Let them be young adults and have fun!!! I met most of the kids he hung out with and they were all just happy to kinda do thier own thing when you let them. This was our 6th cruise and our first with Royal Caribbean. We traveled with other immediate family, adult children and friends. We booked this cruise based on the length of cruise and especially the destinations, which were all wonderful. The ship was beautiful and spacious and offered numerous activities. Our stateroom attendant and our Sapphire dining head waiter and assistant waiter were all fantastic. The Sapphire dining food menu was repetitive on numerous nights and some of the food wasn't as tasteful as I would have expected for a main dining room. The open buffet dining in the Windjammer was Very Good and (with the exception of the lobster meal)was much better. This 9 day cruise had 3 days at sea which we chose to spend primarily at the pool areas, and specifically the adult pool / hot tub area. Only once at anytime on this entire cruise was there a roving bar server that actually took and delivered our drink orders for us, which has not been our experience on any of our other cruises. We also felt that there were many services / activities that required additional payments vs being included in the actual package price of the cruise. Our group always looks forward to the headliner shows / entertainment on board and on this ship it was mediocre at best. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the itinerary. We had never been to the ABCs. We had a nice JS on the hump just 33 steps from the Concierge Lounge where JJ and Harry took great care of us. We had my time dining but sought out Mr. Russia and Sun Yang for every meal. They were excellent. The ship was very clean, especially since the Navigator in going in for refurb soon. We had a very active roll call on Cruise Critic which organized a cabin crawl, poker run, slot pull, and pub crawl. We enjoyed Labadee where we did the zip line. We used outside operators for great excursions on the islands, We loved the ice dance show and the Love and Marriage game. All in all, we loved the Navigator and her friendly, helpful crew. We will look for a chance to sail on her again in the future. Read Less

I've only been cruising for a few years, and I'm rather young compared to I think the average age here, but Royal Caribbean has provided a very consistent experience onboard Navigator and their other ships. Service has been excellent, and while I cannot recall a specific moment of outstanding work, I was never once disappointed with a staff member on board. The facilities on the ship were well maintained. I do miss a proper running track (Navigator's takes a weird bend on it that makes it ill suited for actually running laps) and the Gym was predictably clogged at peak hours. Still, everything was clean and orderly and I think the fixtures in my stateroom were probably the best they've ever looked without a chip or dent in sight. Dining was predictable. Main Dining room service was on point, and damn, do those pumpkin seed buns taste good. Server was courteous and professional which is all I ask for. Windjammer was a zoo at times, but so long as you know what to expect, it serves it's purpose well. We did an upgraded dining experience at Sabor that was, well, upgraded, offering interesting and unique meals. I do not know if there was enough variety to justify going back however. Portion sizes were a little large, but I hardly think that's something to complain about. One thing I'd like to bring up, is that there has to be a better way to seat small couples for main room dining. Three different couples we talked to had a nearly identical experience at being seated at a 8 or 10 person table filled with a large family and them being the odd ones out. I'd really rather prefer to be seated with several other groups roughly our size. C'est la vie. The shows and entertainment were the highlight I think. Without fail every one was well produced and some of the talent on-board (especially the ice show) was incredibly impressive. The Bands produced music for all tastes (although there was an unpleasant amount of country music for my liking). They were all highly professional, with few exceptions. I found a few good shore excursions that matched my tastes and they were fun and exciting. Biking around Bonaire was the highlight for me. As expected, the beaches were pristine. We got very good value for our money on this nine day cruise. For what we paid (roughly $2,000 per person all told), I did not expect nor could have asked for a more pleasant experience. Overall, I have to say, there wasn't anything that absolutely wow'd me onboard Navigator. What I got was a consistently great experience with few worries or concerns. Dito, dito, dito, dito, dito, dito, dito, dito, dito dito dito dito dito Now is the time for all good men to come to the rally and seek the word of the good lord. This ship/voyage could have been better. No one seemed to car when approached about concerns. Serve food before dinner vs drink orders before dinner? Pool area bad and dress code not enforced. Shorts on men allowed during business casual and formal nights. Outstanding dinner servers as they were following poor protocol in serving. Pepper shaker was not working entire week. No offer to get new .....Head waiter not very good! Complained to him first couple of nights to no satisfaction. Butter was not first class as service in packets vs soft in bowls. Same menu almost every night. Charged for Steak twice which was no great serviing ? Not appreciated! On board 18% is too high. Holland of America charges 15% and serves dinners first class, and enforces dress code for evening dinners. Read Less

This was a nine night southern Caribbean cruise with three days at sea. The ship is in good shape although it is scheduled for a major dry dock early next year. The ports of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao are less visited than the eastern and western Caribbean. I had not been to Bonaire before and picked up a tour on shore for $25. It was great and I highly recommend a tour of the island this way. Half the price of the ships tour. Weather and sea conditions were near perfect this voyage. There is a belief on this ship and some other Royal ships that no one is having fun unless the volume at all venues is set so loud that it is painful, even though people were complaining and leaving due to the extreme decibel levels. When the cruise director was advised of the problem he was sympathetic, but no change was in evidence. Deserts in the Windjammer remain poor, with no Key Lime pie in sight. Ran out of grapefruit days before the cruise ended. No regular coffee or toast five minutes after opening on more than one morning. Saw no bananas the last morning. Pretty basic items to be having such problems with. The production shows are not the best and the ice show is the weakest of the six or so I have seen. Alex Jane in the Schooner Bar was one of the best pianests ever at that venue and her singing was a big plus. And her show was one that had a suitable volume level. Proabably helps explain the fact that the bar was full when she was performing. The ships orchestra was very good with the jazz concerts in the Royal Promenade and backing the performers in the main theatre. The salsa band lacked a percussionist thus it was not very good performing that type of music. The calypso band seemed to be more of a soul group and lacked the necessary steel drummer. I can't say much about the guitarist in the pub because the volume there was the loudest ever. Surely an OSHA violation for the workers there. The front desk people, Diamond Club, Concierge Club and cabin steward were all excellent. But I will not soon rush back to this ship due to the easily avoidable problems mentioned. It is funny how some ships in the same line are ones you warm up to and others not. Sadly this is one that doesn't create that warm feeling. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the date and itinerary. We were traveling with our older kids, in their 20s. Embarkation was OK, but it always feels a bit disappointing when there is no one to even great you as you walk on board. If you are a new cruiser, you don't really know where to go, what to do. There was no one on board as we walked in. We proceeded to the cabins as they were ready. The highlight of my cruise was my junior suite. I absolutely loved it. Our kids were in an Oceanview. The Navigator is looking a bit tired. It was my 3rd time on it. I am a diamond member on RCL but recently have mostly been sailing Celebrity. This cruise reminded me of why. What was most disappointing was the fact that in the afternoon, you can't get food anywhere, except the promenade cafe. Between 3:30 and 6:00 pm. So pizza, for which there is always a huge line up and they are constantly running out, or pre-done sandwiches. My daughter is Vegan and unlike our recent celebrity cruises, feeding her was a challenge. I asked if we could get a sandwich that would suit her, but we were told yes, but we would have to come back the next day for it…. Main dining room was also a challenge for her. On day 4 of 9, after I complained, we finally got them to acknowledge her diet. Drink service was slow. The first 3 nights we were never offered coffee or tea, and not until after dessert. On the 4th night, I said, I really like my coffee WITH my dessert. They brought it to me, but never offered anyone else. Service got better around day 6. I must say that I believe this was due to poor leadership from the head waiter. He was so unpleasant, and creepy that I can't imagine the staff working under his guidance. He would come to our table and hover, stand there, and really not helpful at all. Entertainment was good, the ports excellent. The staff at the front desk very helpful. our cabin attendant, was very moody and as a result, I reduced the tips. I rarely do so, but up until the very last minute, she was up and down. Disembarkation was a disaster, but this was due to issues in there terminal building. Although, I do hate being yelled at like a piece of cattle in the morning. It was really unpleasant. I know the staff does this day in, day out, but it's their job and the staff that would greet you as you got off the elevator were really rude. It's early, everyone is carrying stuff, it's the end of the vacation and being treated like this really takes away from the good vacation memory. Read Less

Have been a loyal Royal Caribbean Cruiser for many years now, and I always boasted to friends and family that they live up to their name and recommended them highly; but can't do that anymore. Cuts in personnel and changes to service and benefit standards on the ships have made Royal now below average. First start in the dining room, we were moved to 3 different tables and only got adequate service with the head waiters hovering over the table. Cold food, hour to get appetizers, wrong orders, bread in baskets with no tongs so people I don't know pawing through it...health hazard. Second, the casino, Blackjack tables now pay 6 to 5 with no equal pay for blackjack if dealer has an ace. Spend a lot of money in their casino, and changing these odds made me not play. 3rd front line employees not happy, pay changes, staff cuts, have made the staff no where near as happy as they used to be and it shows. We talked to many high level Loyal Royal Caribbean cruisers and did not find one person that enjoyed the dining room. Most said they are going to look at other cruise lines now as am I. I have 2 other cruises booked with Royal and am considering canceling and looking elsewhere. Read Less

Booked this cruise very last minute (about 3 weeks before departure) as a much-needed getaway. Chose to stay on boat at Labadee, as we have been there many times. But thoroughly enjoyed the stops on the ABC islands, as we had never been to any of those. We chose to walk off the ship in Bonaire & Curacao and directly purchase our own tours. Both islands have fairly small ports so it is quite easy to walk off and go to the tourism area and find tour guides, etc. We were very pleased with our choices as we were able to tour each island then be dropped off at a beach to enjoy. On Aruba, we chose to book a snorkeling excursion through the ship and thoroughly enjoyed the day out on the water, although our last dive spot of the day at a shipwreck was so filled with snorkelers, we felt like sardines...too crowded. Very nice mix of sea days vs. port days. Enjoy this size class ship on RC...not too big, not too small. Entertainment in main theatre was not always the best, but thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the Schooner Bar listening to a wonderful pianist/singer named Alex each evening. She was definitely the most talented musician on the ship! Noticed a few slight changes by RC to save/make money (things like now charging on-demand fees to watch movies that used to be free on the TV). Also noticed a few things that needed repair, like missing thresholds or broken tiles. Overall, would do this cruise again. Read Less

Navigator of the Seas was the right size. Not too big but not too small. Felt comfortable. Plenty of room to move around. Great atmosphere. Clean. Remember washy washy! My cabin choice was ideal. It was interior but I highly recommend getting an interior room over the promenade. It makes the room seem so much larger and has the feeling of freedom. The dining experience would be that the choices of food remain the same with each and every cruise I have taken with Royal Caribbean. Not to say that the food was bad, just saying they are predictable but I still appreciated the taste and flavor. Entertainment on board is great. I especially enjoyed the ice show. A must see if offered on your cruise. The service is friendly and always with a smile. Have yet to have negative experience. Plan excursions early! The good excursions get picked over early. We booked this cruise October 2017 with the RC UK doing BOGO Half Price plus free all-inclusive. It was a no-brainer for us as we loved the ABC island previously visiting them with Carnival. Plus it was a good opportunity to try the competition. After two cruises with Carnival and a couple with the European Cruise Line TUI, we think that we will be future "Loyal to Royal" cruisers. We got to Port of Miami for about 1030 and was on board for 1110, very quick and easy. We were some of the first people on board. Making full use of the All Inclusive! I have to admit the ship is outstanding! the biggest ship we have been on to date, we often looked down the Royal Promenade and thought how does this float? The ships main areas such as the dining room, promenade and Atrium still look pretty fresh and up to date, however in the rooms you can see slight age and wear and tear. The sofa, in particular, has seen better days and the dated 00's woodwork also shows the ships true age. The main thing for us was that the room was clean, which it certainly was by our steward Raul. I understand the ship is due a dry dock refurb next year so I will look forward to the result. Food was pretty good on the ship and this along with the service is basically was has swung us to Royal. Windjammer was the usual buffet food, nice mixture of everything. Food looked fresh and well presented. The crew were always about asking if you wanted tea, coffee at breakfast and cold drinks at lunch. Only thing I didn't rate was the breakfast, no eggs Bennie was a gripe of mine at the Windjammer as we don't usual have that served much in the UK. We often went to Cafe Promenade for a quick continental Breakfast along with a iced coffee (AI) The main dinning room was fab, the decor centered around this amazing chandelier was wonderful, our waiters Elvis and Igor made our holiday. We were a 8pm sitting and where the only ones at a 8 top table, fortunately for us we were treated like kings and made a fuss over. Both were very down to earth and attentive. Igor had a promotion one of the nights and told us he was getting promoted to Waiter from Assistant. Good Luck to him! Entertainment was a bit of a let down apart from the Ice Skating show which was outstanding, a true highlight of the 9 days. The Royal Caribbean production was such a let down. Especially the Ball Room fever... by any means I am not hard to please, however it was that bad we walked out, as did others. We heard people joking in the elevators about the two male singers, they were awful. The dancers were pretty good but. We had a juggler and a Comedian. We stayed away from the RC productions after this. Carnivals Entertainment was far superior. Cuddy was ok, he seemed very scripted, I know this is the norm with a cruise director but you could really tell he was saying the same jokes for the last three months. It sounds very blunt but he didn't really add anything to my cruise. People who have been moaning about this ship, cannot take away the fact that this ship has had some of the friendliest crew members I have ever sailed with. We loved Boleros, the guys and gals were wonderful, always smiling and making up drinks for you when you wanted something new. Everyone from the bar staff all the way to guest services was great. I cannot comment on the officers and we did not see any of them once in the full 9 days we were there. We once seen the captain on the Carnival Liberty with his kids at the buffet at night, along with others. Carnival seem to be very actively meeting guest or at least be seen. All the ports of call where what we expected as we have been before, except Labadee which was pretty awesome. Very pretty and relaxing. Overall I don't have any major complaints about the ship or service. We have been looking at RC next year and are considering one of the Oasis class ships. Hopefully they will bring back the free All Inclusive upgrade for 2019. Read Less

All of the staff was friendly and most of them had a smile on their faces! If you get the chance to see May San Jose and Yue in the main dining room, they are the best!! so friendly and cheerful! we spend the first 2 nights in chops and the Italian restaurant. by far the BEST steak at the Italian place! there was always something to do on board, and almost had to not sleep to do everything we wanted. we got the drink package and it definitely was worth it! we did a shore excursion for each port and that was the way to go. we did tours for 3/4 ports and i loved learning a little bit of history of new places. The ship is in bad need of any refresh. The decor is very old. Broken railings, Lights not working, elevator buttons not working on several decks. Having been on several HAL, NCL and Disney cruises, the food overall on this RC sailing was by far the worst. Daily menu only rotated three dishes each night with most of the appetizers and deserts staying the same night over night. Simply lacked creativity. Insulting to have additional dishes listed on the menu but with a charge. Filet Mignon $20 charge in the main dining room. In what fine dining restaurant do they list Tilapia (farmed) as the catch of the day (on two of the 9 nights). Even our servers shook their heads and were embarrassed. No wine packages on RC. They have a sign that you can purchase sets of wine at their vintages shop which will be brought to your table. Discounts offered with the more wine purchased. After three attempts to get it worked out - gave up. Dining staff has no idea how it worked. Vintages staff admitted that it's better to go to their shop on the way to dinner to pick up your selection and take it with you to dinner. So, select the wine before seeing the menu? Didn't try the specialty restaurants. Based on the poor quality of the food in the main dining room along with the classless up sell to get a good dish, we decided not reward RC for that tactic. Although the quality of the food was comparable to a hospital cafeteria, the service was good. Nice people with great stories and conversations. The windjammer was simply terrible. 80% repeated menu day over day. You guessed it Tilapia every day. The activities were fun. The kids enjoyed the wave runner. No waterslides, but the pools were nice. Movies out on the deck would have been nice except the layout is very odd and only a locations have good views of the screen. Odd that they offer no snacks like popcorn and sodas during the night movies like they do on other lines. Not a big deal for us but something to note is the onboard shopping was weak. You know your duty free selection is bad when Disney has a better liquor selection than you. Read Less

Wanted to finish our exploration of the Caribbean with going to the ABC's. Cruise was great though lots of complaining from crew over recent changes and it is showing up in their service. Dining and casino staff has been cut back, couldn't even start playing Texas Holdem because they didn't have a dealer available, so we the customers had to wait! Poorly scheduled timing of shows with dinner times!! The first finale show we went to where the dept heads and captain couldn't even attend. They instead showed a pre-filmed sequence showing just how CHEAP they are getting. Half the times we ordered room service which now you have to PAY for, it didn't show up. Though we called to complain and received it for FREE for being so late! This was our 9th cruise on RCCL and maybe our last............ just to many other choices out there right now. Yes you can have the biggest and newest ships out there but if you can't give a good experience, people will go elsewhere!! Read Less

Horrible food wasn't even up to basic sanders i had raw chicken served to me and uncooked fish i had informed my waiter and nothing was done from the raw food to the hard donuts i was so disappointed on this ship this dosent include the brown water that was coming out of my faucet . I was on the 12th floor when i brought it to there attention there responce was we take showers with black water and we are ok. Really grose i will never ever cruise on royal caribbean again. I almost forgot they would put random charges on your bill hoping for you not to catch it. That might work with spring breakers but not me . so beware spring breakers not worth a dollar so beware save your money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Read Less

This was our first Royal Caribbean Cruise, and it will likely be our last. It's not for lack of trying from some of the staff, however. We had a GREAT head waiter who worked hard to rectify my complaints, a fantastic room steward and very good service desk personnel. The problem is that I had to complain about anything on a cruise. The major problem my family experienced was with the organization and availability of food on board. If you're used to a 24 hour availability and ease of obtaining food, this is not your cruise. That's not to say it doesn't exist, it does in a small cafe called the Cafe Promenade. But it is a SMALL cafe, and there are 3,800 guests. The other 24 hour option is room service, but beware...it comes with a $7.95 delivery charge and an 18% gratuity. On the week we sailed, it was also a spring break week. These kids were hungry, thirsty...and LOUD. The largest dining room on the ship, the Windjammer Cafe, closed at 9:00 p.m. How foolish with so many kids on board. Pizza, hotdogs and hamburgers should've been on speed dial. In general, food service seemed to suffer from poor organization and lack of preparation. In addition to these concerns we also experienced a late room service delivery with the incorrect order. Our Cabin Steward was also top notch...great guy who kept us supplied with ice and quickly responded to our needs. But again, we had them. Overall our room was very clean, but we did experience one curious event. We received a note that our balcony was to be painted while we were in port. That was okay as we were "in port' and out of our room the entire day. When we returned, our balcony railing had been varnished. It was beautiful...but we noticed what appeared to be blood droplets across our bed linens. We couldn't figure out how they got there...I presumed one of the workers had cut him/herself. But we'll never know. Steve (our steward) quickly changed all of our linens. The entertainment on board ship was hit or miss. LOVED the ice show (Ice Dancin')...saw it twice. We experienced two of the big production shows: one centered around ballroom dancing and the other was also a musical review called "Backstage Access." All three were sort of period musical reviews and could've benefited from more variety. I wasn't impressed with the Latin band that played throughout the various venues. They were talented enough, but none had an overabundance of personality. The same can be said for the majority of the staff on board. Most were pleasant, few were effusive. Nur, Roy, Nuron (these were our Sapphire Dining wait staff) were wonderful...as were a few other folks I met along the way: Wilbur, Christian and Cuddy come to mind. This was my daugher-in-law's first cruise experience. She enjoyed it. It was my sixth...I did too, but not enough to heartily commend Royal Caribbean to someone else. Read Less

This is my 18th cruise on RCCL ships since the 1980's, and now as a "super senior" cruiser, I can reflect upon the recent changes in the RCCL cruise experience. This cruise was on Navigator of the Seas, Sunday, March 11, through March 16, 2018, out of the Miami cruise port. GETTING THERE: Booked airfare independently from RCCL's Choice Air, arrived at Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport on SWA. Purchased RCCL's round trip ground transportation (bus) to the Miami cruise port. If you do fly into FLL in the morning anticipate arriving at the Miami cruise port after 12 noon or later. EMBARKMENT: Once you arrive at the port, you luggage will be off loaded and porters will take your luggage to be transported to the ship. Getting into the cruise port building is somewhat chaotic, they first check you sea pass and passport, then up the escalator to go through the metal detectors, then you get into your designated lines dependent upon your cruise level status (I am at Diamond level) so the line wasn't that long. They take you information and credit card take your photo and present you with your seapass key card which is your on board charge card. Getting on the ship after that was quick. ON BOARD: Once on board, time to hit the Windjammer Buffet on Deck 11 aft (rear). The presentation and quality was okay, not great, but not bad. It will be crowded. The staterooms opened up shortly after 1:00 pm. YOUR STATEROOM: more details below, I was greeted by my cabin steward, they are now called "stateroom attendants", which sounds like a downgrade, I prefer to use "steward". My steward was Rupesh Kimar, who asked if I had any request, and I had only two a bucket of ice in the evening and only a evening bed turn down as I sometimes nap in the afternoons. ROAMING THE SHIP: This was my second trip on Navigator of the Seas it has a very nice promenade with the shops and where the sea day merchandise "sales" are located. Be prepared to be bombarded with the ship's staff trying to up sell you to the "dining" package/specialty restaurants, spa treatments, liquor and soda packages. MAIN DINING ROOM (MDR): I selected the "my dining time (MDT) in the Sapphire main dining room on deck 5 at 5:15 pm. I was seated at table 615 and received excellent service from Galwin and Mohammed through out my cruise. I dined in the MDR four of the five nights. I have noticed a streamlining of the service, the assistant waiter used to present you with a tray and serve you rolls or bread, now there is a basket of bread and rolls on the table (self service). The menu selections have been "standardized" on one page for the appetizers, main course and desserts. The dessert menu used to be on a separate menu. The quality of the food in the MDR is fine, not large portions but adequate to satisfy your hunger. There is a vegan, pasta, meat, poultry and fish selection with some daily offerings. On the appetizers, escargot was offered only three nights, it used to be served every night, but not too many people like snails. The shrimp cocktail is only four minimum sized shrimp, you can order two if you like. During this cruise, they did NOT service lobster tails, but did have prime rib on the menu on the last evening. Overall the quality of the food was average. ENTERTAINMENT: Production shows, music from the ship's band and a comedian, were fine, its not Broadway or Las Vegas. BEVERAGES: Mixed drinks are expensive, cocktails go for $10+ and beers ate $6.75 for a 16 oz aluminum bottle, specialty drinks are about $10, this plus the 18% tip can add up. It almost encourages you to purchase the drink package, but then you may have a tendency to drink to excess. THE CASINO: The casino has a variety of older generation slot machines, and quite frankly, during the entire cruise, I did not hear of any big winners, but alot of passengers who lost money in the machines. It now takes $5 to get ONE POINT, towards the quest for a free room under the casino program. To get a free interior cabin it takes 2400 points, an ocean view it takes 3600 points and for a balcony it takes 4800 points, so to get a interior room, you have to run about $12,000 through the slot machines. On the table games, I gambled about 20 hours for the entire five day cruise at the $5 minimum bet on Ultimate Texas Hold'em, which amounts to $20 a hand, and only "earned" a $300 cruise discount off a future cruise which must be booked within 30 days of this cruise. THE CROWD: Like I mentioned early, this was a college spring break cruise, so the ship was loaded with college aged "kids" (young adults). For the most part these "kids" were well behaved, there was enhanced ship security, which took care of the few minor problems. If you travel during the NCAA "March Madness" tournament, expect the pool bars to be packed five or six deep, as most of the "kids" get the drink package on these short cruises. Beverage waiters are few and far between by the pool on sea days as most of the young passengers get their drinks at the pool bars. SPA and SHORE EXCURSIONS: I did not do the spa or any shore excursions, as I have been to Mexico on several occasions and been there, done that. LIQUOR and SPIRIT PURCHASES on board: For the most part, you do get a deal on liquor and cordials from the ship's store, however, I have noted that the prices have increased about $5 a bottle for my Jack Daniels sipping whiskey. But you can still get vodka and amaretto for about $20 a bottle which is still a good deal. DISEMBARKMENT: Is a breeze, you can eat in the Sapphire Dining Room or the Windjammer Buffet. In the Windjammer, avoid what tastes like powder scrambled eggs, it is dry and tasteless. The last morning buffet ibreakfast is scaled down. Getting off the ship, once you tag number is called if you do not do the walk off with your luggage took only about 15 minutes, you go into the cruise terminal and pick up your luggage and go through customs. The whole process took about a half an hour. A final TIP: if you book via RCCL's Choice Air expect a very early flight on the day of departure and a very late flight on the way home. Consider booking via Choice Air to get to te ship, take the ground transportation, then book the return flight independently with RCCL's ground transportation to get a early afternoon flight for your trip home if it is offered by our airline of your own choosing. This was our tenth ocean cruise (Seabourn, Cunard, HAL, Celebrity) and first on RCCL. Based on previous reviews, we expected a ship needing some refurbishment, mediocre service and disappointing food in the main dining room. None of this was our reality and we were very pleased, We chose the cruise based on timing and length of cruise (5 nights during my wife's spring break [she works at a college]). Embarkation went smoothly in Miami and we were surrounded by college students, some families with young children and a few middle age/early retirement couples which met our expectations for a March Caribbean itinerary. We did arrive early in the boarding window which may have helped. The ship is in great shape and very appealing. Perhaps there is too much glitz, but not as much as one would experience in Las Vegas. Were there a couple things to tidy up on maintenance? Minimal to none that we saw. And the crew did a marvelous job of keeping things clean and tidy. No rumors of significant illness, other than a likely epidemic of hangovers for 18 year olds. The lines at the bars were significant, but fellow cruisers with RCCL experience said that was unusual. Cabin 8640 (balcony) was perfectly located just aft of the stern stairwell. Three decks up to the pool/buffet/fitness center and 3 decks down to our MDR level. Perhaps a coffee table would have fit, but the space was open and the storage was exceptional. The only better storage space we have experienced are walk in closets on Seabourn ships. Great design! The expected small bathroom of course. Of note, bar soap and shampoo was provided, contrary to other reviews. Our steward was efficient, friendly and unobtrusive. We had excellent service in the MDR for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The specialty restaurants (Chops and Giovanni) were very good and probably worth the up-charge. Our only gripe/disappointment was the lack of adherence to the dress code. Should adults, adolescents and children appear at dinner in the restaurants in shorts, t-shirts and sporting baseball caps on their heads? At the risk if being old fashioned, I say NO! It is discourteous to fellow dinners and is insulting to the staff. If RCCL has a dress code (yes), they should enforce it. Otherwise, drop the pretense of a dress code. There, our only real disappointment was fellow travelers. This sloppiness was not restricted to college students, more the shame Entertainment was fair to good, except for an excellent, do-not-miss ice show. Really, it was spectacular despite a couple falls and near falls. Great performers, stagecraft, lighting and music. If you travel on a RCCL ship that offers this show, make a point of seeing it. Cruise Director was nearly invisible other than production shows and daily announcements. We were fine with that, he was uninspiring. The DJs, as usual, played the music way too load. Do you need to strip the paint off the neighboring ships with your pool deck speakers? This is not unique to RCCL, so sad to say. We did excursions in both ports and booked them independently. Our Mayan guide at Costa Maya was exceptional. Finding your way out of the fake port of Costa Maya is a real challenge, sort of like trying to get out of a Las Vegas casino. Just keep going left past the pool. Cozumel, with 8 ships in port, was crowded but surprisingly the Playa Mia beach resort was not real busy. We learned to make salsa there and had a great time. This was the least expensive cruise we have experienced, so the value was very high. With tips and not including air fare and independent excursions, we paid less than $200 per person per night. We bought 2 bottles of wine and had one or 2 additional drinks (no beverage package purchased) each night and still came under $200. Based on our experience, we may very well cruise RCCL again. I was expecting a one time experience, but they have won one me over as a potential repeat traveler. Read Less

We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 day cruise on the Navigator Of The Seas. Our stateroom experience was fabulous, which was enhanced by our attendant, Dextar Delpesche, who was friendly and most accommodating, who clearly deserves a 10+. Our dining room waiter, Diomedes Livingston, and our assistant waiter, Johann Arif Safii, were very professional, and went out of their way to please us. They both earned a 10. The biggest disappointment was the absence of the traditional lobster dinner on formal night. We also took note of the lack of photographers that came around to our table during dinner. This is the only cruise we've been on where there hasn't been any photographers at our ports of call when we leave the ship. We booked a private sitting at the black and white portrait studio, and had purchased over $500 worth of prints. Regrettably, the ships printer had a malfunction, and all of our photos were printed out with coloured lines down them. We were originally supposed to be first off the ship at 7:45 am, as we had a 30 hour drive back to Canada to look forward to, but due to the reprinting of the photos, we didn't end up leaving the ship until 10:30, without our purchased prints. Fortunately, they were able to send the pictures to our home via FedEx. In the Windjammer, staff members Sebastiano and Louis Legrand were friendly, hard working, and knowledgeable. Being loyal cruisers with Royal Caribbean for the past 9 years, we have always been thrilled with the exceptional service and social aspect of the staff in the Windjammer. However, this cruise, we were greatly disappointed with the lack of communication and friendliness from the majority of the Windjammer staff. It felt like it was their first days on the job. They didn't make any effort to serve us, or acknowledge our requests, and didn't offer us so much as a smile. We recognize we cruised over the first week of March break, but the number of students onboard was overwhelming. Their language, attire, behavior, and alcohol consumption on the pool decks were incredibly inappropriate, especially considering the families with young children onboard. Overall, we enjoyed our experience onboard, and would recommend it to our friends. However, we would suggest cruising at an alternative time to March break. Read Less

This was our third cruise with RC, our first on Navigator of the Seas, our first time leaving from Port of Miami. We picked this cruise to spend time with friends attending Pool School on board. We live near Tampa and we decided to drive to Miami port that Morning. If you are driving in, consider driving down a day before and stay at hotel near the port to avoid concerns about traffic/flight tires/car issues etc. If you are flying in, fly in a couple of days earlier and enjoy Florida. Avoid meltdowns from airplane delays by giving yourself a cushion. Also, when you return, make sure you give yourself time to make your flight. Traffic is bad in Miami. Use Self Assist (you carry own bags) and leave at 7:45AM to beat the crowds. We did and were very happy with the experience. Our Drive to Miami port was without incident. We found departing terminal G, got our bags to the porter, and parked at the parking garage. The garage parking costs $20 a day, and they take cash or credit card payment when you leave. I like the convenience of being able to walk to the car when returning from the cruise. Getting our seapasses only took a few minutes. Tip:If your set sail docs indicate "Suite" make sure you get into the Suite line. We had a junior suite and an inside cabin. Junior Suite was sweet, if you can afford to splurge it is worth it. We got on the ship around noon and the ship was gorgeous. There were 16 of us in the group we travelled with, so we never had a dull moment at dinners. We ate at three upcharge restaurants : Sabor (Mexican), Giovanni (Italian), Chops Grille (Steak). The other two nights we ate at the Sapphire Dining Room. Chops was my favorite. Great Ribeye, excellent Mushroom soup. I splurged for the lobster. It was tasty. Our wait staff were from Turkey and they were awesome. Big compliments. Teşekkür ederim!! Everyone on my party liked Sabor, I am not big Mexican food fan, so I defer to my family and friends who were with me on the cruise. Great service. Giovanni's kitchen service was slow and the entree's were brought before the pasta, which was somewhat irritating, and we requested the entrees be sent back and the pasta be served prior to entrees. It would behoove them to consider serving the pasta family style to speed up service. On a good note, the filet was excellent and the staff was very kind. It would behoove the manager to come to the table and check on things. Our Waiter Mr. Singh was King in the Sapphire Main dining room. He made a point to learn our names and the service a superlative. He and his assistant were superlative in service. धन्यवाद (Thank you./Dhantavaad). I hope we meet again, I was honored to meet Mr. Singh. Foodwise at Main Dining, the quality appears to be reflecting the push to get people to eat at the upcharge restaurants. The "Jumbo Tiger Prawns" were anything but jumbo and the shrimp cocktail had small shrimp. All my entrees were delicious, The Lamb Chops were great. When anyone at our table requested something else the food appeared with friendly service. As an aside I wish they brought back Lobster night. My friend from work went on the Carnival Magic and enjoyed lobster. That being said, the cook staff have a daunting challenge daily of preparing so many delicious meals and I applaud them for doing so successfully night after night. Köszönöm!! Breakfast was available in the dining room and windjammer. Both were good. The hash browns in dining room and the diced potatoes in Windjammer need some work. Eggs Benedict were good but I wish the eggs were more Poached and less soft boiled. The mushroom omelet is good. Service was very good. We ate at Johnny Rockets for lunch Monday. It was good but the upcharge is now $10 and used to be $5, and does not include shakes. Also, the drink packages do not apply there. Just a caveat. Service there was great!!! Дякую!!! There are three drink packages (Soda, Soda/Coffee/Smoothies/Water Bottles, Alcohol plus Soda/Coffee/Smoothies). If you order ONLINE before you arrive the price is cheaper. Whether to choose a package and which one is based on your personal preference. Café promenade on deck five had pizza and tasty snacks. Pizza was poor the first couple of days but last day was much improved. You can get Ben & Jerry's ice cream or shake for a small charge. I purchased WIFI to be able to text others in our party. I was not terribly impressed as I stlll was unable to text from time to time. This may have been user error, your results may vary. Our Steward was attentive and very courteous. धन्यवाद (Thank you./Dhantavaad). We ate late so we did not attend the shows. Our three kids did not participate in the youth programs this time. We had two ports of call, in Costa Maya and Cozumel (Mexico). Both were tourist spots with plenty of shopping and food/drink. Both places accept USD and charge US style prices, . Margaritaville in Cozumel made the Guacamole to order at your table, my compliments. At Costa Maya, some in our party swam with Dolphins. Photo packages were pricey. In Cozumel we met Moses, who took us to El Cid Hotel next to port and 10 of the 16 went on a snorkeling trip while the rest of us stayed at the hotel beach. We were on cruise during spring break, so the hotel pool was full of fun and bubbles and they had a DJ playing enthusiastic music. My compliments to the boat service as they took care of our people and got them back early so we could all return to the ship on time. Overall a great trip. My only caveat would be that due to our cruise being during spring break, the pools and jacuzzis were full on sea days. For our family we had a great time and I met some very nice students from Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, and Florida. The ship was very clean and the staff attentive and courteous. I compliment the crew for its hard work. I will return to cruise. Read Less
