Chose this cruise because the itinery seemed to meet our rquirements. Unfortunately the captain took the decision not to go to Shetland due to bad weather. While we accept his decision we felt more could be done to make up for this. All the people we spoke to said this was the port of call they were looking forward to the most. Instead we had 2 nights rather than one at Invergordon (NOT a holiday ...
Chose this cruise so that I would miss the February UK weather. The ports of call were few and varied, however the european stops were very short and I felt were more for the benefit of the ship (eg bunkering) than for the passengers.
The food was okay (safe/boring) but the main dining room tried to mix buffet service with (if you were lucky) a menu service. The staff work hard but appear to ...
Location - we wanted to travel to Greenland and this cruise left from Liverpool which was reasonably convenient.
The itinerary (Iceland and Greenland with a short stop at Belfast at the end) was the decider.
Plus points -
Pleasant cabin
Very efficient cabin steward
Good food suitable for older conservative eaters (eating their body weight in smoked salmon)
Observatory lounge ...
We wanted to get away over Christmas and New Year. This cruise was ideal but the only one we could find.

The itinerary sounded interesting. Sadly, Norway was closed between Christmas and New Years! So nothing to see unless you bought a lot of tours. This was not mentioned when we signed up. The food and service were great. The entertainment was mediocre, usually provided by members of the ship's company. There was a very interesting lecturer from the air safety board but he was the only bright ...
Had to cancel our World cruise in August due to unexpected ill health. End of November all was ok but not able to rebook as no vacancies. Found this cruise and they had unsold cabins, decided to try them. Balcony cabins available but they allow smoking on them which we did not like. There was available a terrace cabin so after talking directly with Head Office were reassured it was one of their ...
My wife and I have sailed with Fred Olsen on the Boudicca before and enjoyed it, so thought we'd like to try one of Fred's other ships.
The cabin was just about adequate in terms of living space although storage and wardrobe space was fine. The one thing which spoilt the cruise for me was the vibration in our cabin which was persistent and very noticeable. I will come back to this later in ...
