Returned home from off the Star yesterday. It was my first ever cruise (for my 40th) and I have now got the bug! It was just me and my Mum - no kids or husbands!
Overall we loved the Star and a lot of things exceeded our expectations (to name a few -those heavenly iced towels, Mykonos and the cabin - 10222, sailing through Venice past St Marks out and then back in again at dawn and the vast ...
We choose this cruise because of itinerary and timing.
The locations were wonderful but in every case there was not enough time on shore.
If you didn’t book an excursion you could be delayed 2hrs leaving boat when you only had 4-5 hrs total.
We had to line up at 5am to get a tender ticket to get off ship at 8am that day, and people were lining up at 4am to get these tickets.
So when we ...
It was my first cruise and I was so excited... felt so important at check in with the priority class and getting on the ship with everything that I was told that the ship had and the marketing materials made me so excited not to mention what friends had said about cruising... our suite was wonderful from a location, size and amenities it offered as far as private staff. Our suite is what we have ...
As we have been on 3 cruises before, we chose this particular cruise because it went to destinations that we have never been to before... Montegnegro, Santorini, and Dubrovnick (as well as Corfu Town and Mykonos). Our tour company was 'flightsandpackages.com', and we booked our excursions beforehand directly from the NCL website... easy to do, and sves the hassle onboard.
At Montegro, the ...
A Little Bit About Us First
This is my first ever cruise review as it was my first time cruising.
I am a young widow with 2 children aged 9 & 8 who works hard balancing both a demanding job and family life. Holidays are the most important feature of our year as a family so I like to research and consult with the kids on our holidays of choice. The idea to cruise was my daughters who was only ...
This was our first time in Europe & first cruise. Overall our experience was ok and could have easily been better.
My first tip is to arrive at least one day before embarkment or 1-2 full days before/after the cruise to really enjoy Venice. At the Venice port we had to walk all the way from the port entrance to the embarkment area in the unbearable heat. Because of the terrain and the long ...
Was in Venice for 3 days before boarding. Enjoyed the time and the sites and self booked Tours of Italy attractions. Freak rain prevented the gondola ride.
The embarkation saga starts with the boat ride from the Hilton to the ship port. No problem short 10 minute ride. Then dragged the 50 pounds of luggage up two ramps from the boat dock almost a mile to the embarkation point. No ...
This was as group cruise of about 30-45 people.
The excursions were handled as best as possible. The first day out was a disaster with not enough tender boats available to transport everyone back to the ship. Folks were left waiting out in the rain. Drinks and wet towels were provided which was welcomed.
Food in the main dining rooms was sub-par at best, desserts were horrible. First ...
This was our sixth cruise with Norwegian and our first time on the Star. We’re big fans of the NCL vibe - freestyle dining, no dated “formal” obligatory dress code etc. and this cruise certainly hasn’t put us off Norwegian!
Embarkation and disembarkation in Venice were the easiest we’ve ever experienced on a cruise, despite the ship operating at maximum capacity. Bags were swiftly delivered on ...
Having booked the cruise late and after having researched which cruise lines were good for families, I booked the cruise on the Star. At the time of booking NCL were advertising that there was a childrens pool with slides on board. A few weeks after booking, I received an email stating that the latter facilities were being removed. They must have known about the proposed removal at the time ...
