We were supposed to go to Puerto Rico over Christmas and New Years but after Hurricane Irma, we needed to change our plans. I have been on many Celebrity Cruises and I wanted to go to Patagonia. After looking at the Itinerary,I felt this was a good option. The reviews of this boat were mediocre and that was completely accurate. The ship should have been drydocked a LONG time ago and upgraded. It had no pizazz, no life to it. The carpeting was brown and yellow and that pretty much describes the boat. It was like a Howard Johnson's. Old and Boring. I cant understand why Celebrity didnt fix this boat up! I didnt mind that there were some area with paint chips or the cabinets had some loose hinges. But the carpeting was BROWN! Embarkation and disembarkation were long but I could deal with that. We chose flexible dining and that was a big mistake!! Everyone came down to eat between 8:00 and 9:00 so there was often a long wait to get into dinner. The food was OK. bottom line is everything on the boat was OK. Nothing was great. There was no WOW factor. I would never ever go on this boat again. I am not sure I will go on Celebrity again Read Less

As repeat Celebrity guests, we were happy to be able to select this “Holiday” cruise for its itinerary. Little did we know that the concept of Modern Luxury would exist only in Blu on this sailing. This review will lead with the blunt, honest, negatives about our sailing, then lead to and end on a more positive note. Celebrity is not known for being a “family sailing”cruise line, but this cruise was, clearly, for families. Family groups of 10plus people took over tables at the buffet breakfast and lunch, eating and then staying for the day to play cards, games, or whatever. It was close to impossible to get a table at Cafe al Bacio, as the same situation would occur. The staff made up cards, requesting that you give other guests a chance to enjoy the area, and offering the tables at Qsuine for card playing, but, no luck..the families just stayed and played. The 450-500 children onboard also made their own rules..taking wheelchairs and racing them in the hallways, hanging out in the Library til all hours-4 am!-, running everywhere, playing with soccer balls in the Ocean View Cafe and Constellation, sleeping and hanging out in the stairways..”egging”the elevators, throwing pizza at the elevator doors, wet bathing suits, no shoes, etc. in the OVC.. Adult activities, such as a 10 p.m. Silent Disco, became a children’s party, with children, as young as 6 running all over, wearing the disco headphones. The Constellation Lounge was booked for a 5 a.m. New Years Day event with Mickey Live, to watch sunrise over Ushuaia. When we arrived, the lounge was still in use as a disco, with cigarette butts, leftover food and party items all over the lounge and the outer deck. Clearly, Celebrity did not exert any control at all. What a mess! These are just a few of the negatives we experienced during our trip.. In terms of our Aqua Class cabin, it was dated and showed it’s age. The WIFi was lousy, and our room was right outside of the iLounge! The television reception and choices were sparse, at best. Now, for the positives....THE STAFF!! Wonderful service, wonderful people. Mickey Live! This guy is the greatest naturalist I have ever had the pleasure to meet. His informative and fun lectures made this trip! The adult guests whom we met while dining in Blu..great people, exactly what we expect when we sail Celebrity The ship was clean, in spite of some of the guests’ lack of decorum. The staff was always working to clean up after them. The entertainment was typical Celebrity fare..the dance troupe onboard works so hard and their production numbers were fun. (The Captain had to request that children NOT be seated in the first three rows in the theater, as they would run onstage!) All in all, we enjoyed our South America cruise. It was a once in a lifetime trip for us and we were able to see so many wonderful and exciting things. Will we sail Celebrity again....YES.....would I recommend this trip at Holiday time...NO.. Would I sail Infinity again..NO.. Sorry to post such a negative review, I have never, ever done this before. Read Less

Off 2,000 passengers, 500 were children on Christmas break and summer vacation and totally unsupervised. Running thru the halls all hours of the night, across the dancefloor, blocking stairwells, spilling food on carpets and chairs, sliding down bannisters, etc. Our room stewart and dining staff were outstanding. Many of the bar staff were less than friendly. Buffet containers of water were empy several times, and coffee dispensers were cold. The Captain's daily morning announcements were mostly to encourage everyone to book shore excursions with the ship or to book future sailings. There was a lack of sea day activities that were not somehow related to selling a ship product or service. When I got off the ship at one port and asked a Celebrity officer where are we? He said just a minute, I will go ask. The entertainment in the evenings was generally good. The quality and service of the food was very good at dinner in the main dining room and the Tuscan Grill. This cruise had been a long-standing bucket-list item. We have always dreamed of visiting South America and had wanted to do this itinerary for some time. 2017 was the year and we chose the holiday sailing to coincide with allowable vacation time from our full time jobs. Positives: Itinerary - fantastic! all our dreams came true. South America is magnificent and we are so blessed and grateful for being able to see all the scheduled ports of call. I will cherish the memories made in each port. Cabin - it was good, we had AQ2 9038 which had an extra large balcony that we enjoyed. The room was OK - needed some updates/repairs (we had to prop up the TV so it wouldn’t wobble and fall over - first world issues). BLU Restaurant - after sailing our last 5 cruises in Suites, I was a bit apprehensive of AquaClass - but BLU more than made up for it. Maitre’D Tanya and her staff were incredible. Memorable Staff Members: from stateroom attendant, to BLU staff, to our amazing Sommelier, to Captain’s Club hostess, and GRM - we always felt “special” on board ... that was the “saving grace” of the cruise (see below) ... Cons: here it is ... my apologies - I am usually rah-rah cheerleader for Celebrity - but ... I have to be honest. This holiday cruise was a bust when it came to Celebrity - I don’t even know where to start ... uhmmm, maybe the 500 unruly kids on board that destroyed everything in sight. Ripping Christmas decorations off cabin doors, egging elevators, throwing pizza and ice cream on walls, teenagers having late night parties in the Solarium until 04:00 AM (which our cabin was beneath), body-checking guests as they raced down hallways. It was unreal and the depth of the problem can never be conveyed in words. Then, there was the smoking ... holy ***** - a total disregard for safety and rules. Staff members would *only* do something about it, IF you said something, otherwise, they would walk right by the offending smoker. Between unruly kids, RUDE parents, and renegade smokers on board - this cruise I would aptly label as “uncontrolled chaos”. My DH will never do another Holiday Sailing again - which is an utter shame. I’m sure not all holiday sailings are like this - but this one ruined it for us. For the *first* time ever, we also began googling other cruise lines and I thought I would *never* doubt my loyalty to Celebrity. If you are looking for a “Celebrity” cruise (behaviour, respect for other cruisers, enjoyment) - do not pick this one ... it was, as mentioned above, uncontrolled chaos. Read Less

Typical Celebrity basic cruise features with descent cabins, consistent service from cabin attendants, main dining room menu depth, and commercial entertainment offering. I have sailed on better Celebrity ships and operations particularly with Solstice Class. A few major flaws to note. Atrocious tender operation wherein we had to wait over one hour in early am to go to shore. No excuse for this. On XMAS night, dining room had a meltdown from 8-9:30 pm due to volume. No apologies for long seating waits and confusion offered...bad form. Selling over the top. This cruise featured amped pricing on all service items such as specialty dining and spa services. Thought we were on Carnival on a few occasions. NCL offers more variety and superb entertainment. Specialty dining depth with newer ships sets them above Celebrity Infinity. On the positive side, they did have an underutilized M Life resource in Mickey Live. A very enjoyable speaker and presenter who is extremely knowledgeable. But they only featured him sparingly in our view. Read Less

Disappointed with the Infinity- one of the older ships, dated decor and I believe due to be de-commissioned later this year to make way for the new Celebrity range. Cabin was clean but small with basic balcony. The cruise was ruined by unruly kids whose parents took no notice whatsoever of them running wild- through the restaurants including climbing the trellis, barging through the middle of the dance floor and eating burgers in the Jacuzzi. My husband pointed out to the waiters who seemed powerless to intervene. The resturant was immpossible to get into without a 2+ hour wait unless you wanted to eat at 5.30pm. The reason given was so many Spanish families had booked on this cruise and liked to eat late. The first eve we ate at 11.30pm deapite the resturant supposedly closing at 9.30pm One of the main reasons for out S American adventure was the Chilean Fiords. Unfortunately it was impossible to hear the speaker due to microphone malfunction plus having an open bar with many people talking and children running around. Totally ruined our experience Lastly I think it is important to realise that over xmas there will be a lot of families with children running around. On this cruise over 1/3rd were under age 21yrs. This was never explained to us by our travel agent and something we hadn't anticipated, and certainly will be something we will take into consideration going forward This cruise was marketed as a six star cruise. That it is certainly not. Forget gala balls and new years dances- more like turn up in ripped jeans and baseball hats. There wasnt even a xmas cracker or party hat on the table Very disappointed and will be crossing Celebrity off our list of further cruises Read Less

I chose this cruise because I wanted to be away over Christmas and the new year and the itinerary from Buenos Aires around the Horn to Chile really appealed to me. That did not disappoint at all. The only downside of going at this time of the year was that the ship was full of children running around all over the place and there was no where quiet to escape to. So I would go to my cabin. The Celebrity Infinity staff said it was unprecedented to have so many children at once, I was told there were about 40 groups of about 15 family members in each group. I must say the Celebrity Infinity staff were wonderful and went out of their way to make my cruise very special. I really enjoyed Mickeylive’s presentations, they were extremely informative and amusing. I learnt a lot about each port and the wildlife. He is very knowledgeable. Read Less

I wanted to see South America and I had been pleased with previous Celebrity cruises. I did not expect total mayhem. Anytime dining meant waiting 1/2 to 1 1/2 hours to be seated because they were reserving too many unoccupied tables for large families. Children running on stage during performances. When we boarded, there was an error. Over the next 3 days, I had to be at the main desk 4 times. Because of the long lines and the many errors for other passengers, this meant over 3 hours of my vacation time wasted to correct the original error otherwise I would not have been able to get on and off the ship. They never fully corrected the benefits that I was due to my having been on 4 previous Celebrity cruises. In order to get a table, we had to eat at 6:30. The person seating us had a hard time finding our table because everything had been rearranged to accommodate the large families. Some of the waitstaff were so flustered that it was difficult for them to get the proper food to our table. When it finally came to us, it was not always cooked properly. The sushi restaurant ran out of items on the third day of the cruise. This specialty restaurant was overtaxed and the food was no better than your corner home town restaurant. I wonder how they justify charging extra for this. The tours would come back at the same time. If you were not an Aqua or Suite or Concierge class passenger and the ship was tendered, you would have to wait over an hour in line to get back on board. The cruise staff was flustered because many of the parents did not care to supervise their children and they were scared to upset the parents. Activities were missed because of bad communication. We selected this cruise because we had never been to any South American countries and wanted the positive experiences and appreciations that travel to new destinations can provide. The cruise offered a nice balance of port calls vs sea days, although the only minus was that two port calls were to Montivedeo and Ushuaia on public holidays and both were “closed” (except for tourist shops). Perhaps with planning, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day could have been ‘at sea’ so we could have experienced the two port calls when fully working. Not a big issue though. Embarkation: We were in Concierge class and embarkation was a quick and smooth experience. I am in constant awe how Celebrity turns the ship around so quickly, although note that the staff have very long days on embarkation day. Cabin: We had a GREAT cabin steward ever - Richard. Our veranda cabin was kept spotless. He didn't bother us when the do not disturb sign was on but managed to clean it when we were out. He was professional, courteous and very efficient. Activities: There was plenty of activities for all tastes and ages- enough to keep busy. I enjoyed the lectures but some were way too early - 9 am! It would have been cool to have the lecture on the night sky up on the rooftop terrace in the evening. We participated in a few activities, We did the watercolour painting workshop with Ronnie - a bit too rushed but I enjoyed it. We used the gym every day - very nice but crowded. . Well equipped and everyone using it was very considerate. Carlo was a great gym director and was generous with his advice and help. Dining: We had select dining although needs to pre-book an evening dining time due to the high demand and late dining habits of the Latino guests 1800 of the 2100 or so guest total. The food and service was generally fine although on a 15 night passage, the Trellis menu was becoming tired and at times repetitive. But hats off to the staff who turned around such a large clientele night after night. hit or miss. We dined at Tuscan Grill on New Year’s Eve - attentive service, flavoursome food - just too much of it. Our waiter did a great job managing all of us. Of the Trellis staff, the standouts were Ali on, Shinde, Schubert, Asep. All are fantastic people, friendly without being obsequious, professional and genuinely nice. They made dining in the Trellis a “ look forward to” experience. Al Bacio. Without doubt, Cafe Al Bacio was our favourite place. From the 0700 hrs first coffee and Berlina’s ( in our PJs! - no one cared!!!) throughout the day and night. The staff made this experience the best and our heartfelt thanks to Daniela, Chitra, Lucky, Melissa and the baristas. Also Taz across the way in the Gelatoria/ Cocktail bar. All these fantastic Ambassadors should be praised the the Celebrity Board of Directors as great ambassadors of the company. Down Side. Like most long duration activities, there are likely to be downsides. For us, it was the large number of Latino teens and children who were rude, obnoxious and behaved in a self entitled manner ( where actually none existed). They would be demanding and ungrateful to staff, queue jump, be pushy and intolerant. Worst, they often roamed and partied in the corridors up to 0400 hrs each night being thoroughly noisey and totally inconsiderate of sleeping guests. Complaints to them and Celebrity fell on deaf ears. There was no evidence that their parents had any influence on these miscreants and actuall, we experienced some parents who led by example. They should be thoroughly ashamed, but I guess that’s their culture and breeding. WARNING. I recommend that future guests avoid the South American cruises when Latin school holidays are on. Final Thoughts: You will encounter glitches when travelling, but if you don't make the best of it, then you will ruin your vacation. Putting the down-side of Latino boorish behaviour to the side, on balance the cruise was everything we hoped for. Our experiences in South America were rich and rewarding and the cruise enabled a wide spectrum of opportunities.. Read Less

I do love every ship and Infinity is no different. Yeah she is a little bit older but that does not bother me. I like the movie area up on Deck 12 - although most of my cruise "Around the Horn" was too cold to enjoy it. I also love the sunset bar on Deck 10 aft. I was staying on Deck 11 and was able to take a stairwell right down to that bar. Finally with the cruise I was on - I spent most of the time in Constellation Lounge looking out at the beauty ahead of me. Service on this ship was great! Especially in Blu! I was blown away by the service there. And the food in Blu was fantastic. Martini bar is a blast and I completely enjoyed trying some new ones. Solarium was super nice for this particular cruise as it was always nice and warm - which was needed for about 50% of this cruise. Overall - had a great time and I would not hesitate to cruise on Infinity again. Read Less
