The horror began with cancellation of the originally scheduled trip, February 2018. On 26 April we were advised the ship would be taken out of service, at the peak of vacation season to install a Japanese Specialty restaurant. As our group consisted of 12 people, rebooking at a good time was impossible. So, we were forced to book a trip for 10-17 MARCH. This was during spring break for a lot of schools which resulted in an extreme amount of children on the ship. They were no provided with their own separate section so they were at the main pool area during the entire cruise. In addition, RCCL built a "kiddie pool" with a water slide immediately adjacent to the main pool. Another side result was that one of the two main pools were shout down for 3 straight days due to "accidents", requiring draining, cleaning and sanitizing of those pools. Cuts were obviously made to staff as our dinner, easily took 2 hours plus, to complete every night. It was obvious that there was insufficient staff. We purchased the unlimited drink package also. It was really a marginal decision as my wife and I are not heavy drinkers but the package included fresh squeezed orange juice, so that made the decision easier. Unfortunately, the orange juice was not available 3 of the days pf the cruise. Upon arrival, we asked for Pina Coladas but they were not available. One of our group members cabins had a water leek the last 2 days of the cruise. Fortunately it was not sewage water but still an inconvenience. To top of the experience, my wife and I incurred $1000 in fees and increased fare costs from the change of airlines and were advised we would only be reimbursed $400, leaving us $600 in the hole. We are Diamond Class members with over 20 trips under our belt. We returned to RCCL due to their quality cruise package in earlier years. As I told RCCL rep, it is ironic that the lack of quality in recent years will be the reason we WILL NOT ever return to their line. Read Less

We have several previous cruises on RCC as well as all the other competitors. Our very first cruise was with RCC and we had an amazing vacation. Regretfully, every sailing on RCC since has been a huge disappointment. The March 24, 2018 Caribbean from San Juan was no exception. First, I must credit our stateroom attendant and wait staff as they were wonderful and a pleasure to have serving us. They were a lot of fun and they would go out of their way to assure we had a great experience. However, aside from the individuals assigned to my family of 6 (3 state rooms), the lack of customer service was evident on many levels. Our issues started when we booked this trip. RCC canceled a previous cruise 24 hours before the scheduled sailing because of a hurricane. While most would reasonably understand the need to cancel for a hurricane, RCC delayed their decision until the last possible minute when Disney, NCL and Carnival canceled their departures 3 days prior. This had forced us to travel into an area expecting a category 4 hurricane, taking away needed hotel rooms and other resources for those living in Florida. RCC would not, even with travel insurance refund the cost of the cruise should we choose not to sail. Rather, the only way to get a refund is of they canceled the voyage. Therefore, not wanting to risk several thousand dollars, we rolled the dice and ended up sitting in a hotel room for 4 days as RCC first delayed the 4-day voyage by one day before canceling all together less than 24 hours before the original sail time. To compensate for the "inconveniences" RCC issued $100 stateroom credits for an upcoming sailing. A rather paltry gesture considering our losses in hotel rooms and airline change fees. Getting the credits applied is another headache which judging by other reviews, has become rather common practice with RCC. Before making the booking, I phoned RCC to verify the credits. I was told the $100.00 stateroom credit would apply to "all guests" in my party. Since there would be 6 of us in three staterooms I explained this and the agent verified all would receive the credit. I called a second time and was given the exact same information so I booked the cruise which was just under $5,000 In order to have the credit applied, I needed to call another department along with the reservation number. This is when the problems began. RCC suddenly changed their position and not would only apply a credit to my wife and I. Since I recorded both my discussions, I know the agents whom I spoke along with the date and time called making it very easy for RCC to listen for themselves what was promised. However, RCC refused nor did they have any intention in honoring this. Back on Adventure of the Seas. The food was inconsistent from day-to-day. One night it would be prepared well and the next evening it would not. We are not very picky and did not feel the need to send anything back. My only point is the quality of food seemingly decreases each time we sail. Windjammer is a typical buffet. We typically love to eat in the restaurant for breakfast as compared to the buffet but after the second day, we could not be bothered. The woman who would ask how many was in your party was nasty, unpleasant and if your entire party was not together, would refuse to seat you. One morning our daughter was in the rest room just outside the restaurant and we were refused seating until she presented herself. Long waits to get the food and it appeared RCC cut back on staffing for breakfast. Since this is never the fault of the servers, we certainly would not complain to them. This is a leadership issue. Probably the most frustrating component to the entire vacation was disembarkation. As stated earlier, there were 6 people on our reservation in 3 cabins. However, we were given 3 different times to disembark. 7:45am, 8:15am and 9:15 am. At 7:45 am we were told the entire party would have to wait until 9:15 am. Since I had arranged for car service to drive us around Puerto Rico for the day, we scrambled to contact the driver who patiently waited 1.5 hours until we got off. A Porter grabbed our bags and assisted through Customs. It was not until we were loading luggage into the car I realized my Travel Pro suitcase had an 18" rip down the side of the bag. Not the condition I left it the evening prior outside our cabin. I immediately called RCC from the car and after explaining the details, I was told without me returning to the cruise terminal and completing a damage report there was little they could do. So I asked "After spending $5,000 on the cruise and another $2,400 onboard expenses, you are going to tell me that after damaging my bag there is nothing you can do?" "All this over a $350.00 bag?" The agent walked his position back a little and said to take pictures and get a replacement cost so he could "go to bat" for me. Upon getting home, I found the exact same bag on sale at Macy's for $258.00. I sent in all requested images and pricing. The response I received was "Well, I cannot give you the $258.00 so please what you believe is fair." My response was "What is fair is you replace what you damaged. What is even more fair is I found the same bag almost $100.00 off on sale. But in the interest of putting this matter to rest, I would accept $200.00. Two weeks and three e-mails later, I finally received the credit to my account along with a message of how RCC was doing me a favor without the damage report. I would not recommend RCC. In fact, our favorite cruises have always been on Disney. You cannot beat their customer service and when you need anything or anything resolved, the level of service you receive cannot be compared to RCC. In fact, we have placed Carnival well ahead of RCC as well as NCL. Read Less

Wow, the phrase: "You Have Got to be Kidding" came out a lot. This was our first RC cruise and didn't know what to expect. For starters, the RC website was cumbersome to use, having to log in multiple times on one session was annoying. I uploaded id photos a number of times and looks like they finally were accepted, only to have our pictures taken again at check-in. We really liked the touch-screen maps on the ship, they were helpful. I wish they had rolled out the app for all of their ships, it's a great feature on the Carnival ships. The major disappointment was the food we received in the dining room, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Our dinner table mates, who have taken RC before, also mentioned the food was bland and not up to their usual standards. Breakfast on the first sea day, the buffet/a-la-carte was new to us and we did the a-la-carte. the server gave my wife a hard time, because she ordered things that could be obtained from the buffet, why have a menu? We're on a nice cruise and didn't want to deal with a server giving us attitude, we can get that at home. She was giving others a hard time too. The first three dinners the food was BLAND at best (color, taste, texture), we expected to be blown away by the food. A highlight was the Cafe Promenade, it was quick and everything but the pizza was good. Though we only ate lunch in the dining room once, it was equally sad. It wasn't until the fourth night that we actually got a good meal, we got in late due to recuperating from a shore excursion, so we did the my time dining and got a great serving team. Karl helped us order off menu and we got the Indian vegetarian meal that the crew gets. It was the bomb and ordered the Indian vegetarian the rest of the trip (definitely not bland). The fitness center was great, one downside was if you showed up at 6:00 am, you couldn't get a locker until 7:30. Also, there wasn't any water to take to-go. Had to go, all sweaty, to the Cafe Promenade on deck 5 to get a glass of water. Also enjoyed the skating show and the piano bar. We were very pleased about the clientele, especially since it was spring break. we appreciated the way the ship manages children's entertainment, it was much better than expected. The food and food service really put us off, there was A LOT to like about the ship, but the dining room experience was a huge disappointment. Read Less

I haven't sailed with Royal Caribbean in a number of years and was anxious to try one of their newer ships, Adventure of the Seas. I had not been to 3 of the 4 destinations before and that was a factor in choosing this particular sailing from April 7-14, 2018. I had not been to St. Kitts before and was excited to check out the best possibilities for excursions that would interest me. I found one on their website that offered a 30 mile round trip train ride around the island for $109 pp. My friend and I took the excursion, and were surprised that the van driver told us the train portion had been reduced to 18 miles and a partial island tour due to the fact previous customers complained they got back to the ship and missed lunch. One woman narrated from the top of the first railroad car, attempting to tell people in five cars what we were seeing, but due to the loud creaking of the railcars, and the poor quality of the audio system, we couldn't hear anything about St. Kitts. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. When I approached the Shore Excursion Desk and requested a refund, I was told I could get a 20% discount but not a refund. Freddy wasn't a bit concerned about my situation and neither was his manager. A reputable company would have handled this situation differently instead of protecting a vendor who doesn't provide what's paid for. The food in the dining room was never warm. Our waiter made numerous mistakes the first night and kept apologizing to the point where he was annoying. The food at the buffet wasn't much better with kids touching and putting back food items. An ideal buffet would be like Holland America where staff doles out portions of food and guests don't touch anything. Activities were geared toward younger families and children with not much to do for seniors. The theater was large with comfortable seating, but we were surprised that not one show was even close to being half filled. The only good show was the ice performance. It will be a long time, if ever, that I'll sail with Royal Caribbean again. Read Less

I was counting down the days until this cruise was over. I brought my 2 year old daughter with me, as well as, my mother. Getting on the ship would have been good but we dealt with some rude people telling us to "hurry up" and putting us in the wrong line and so on.This cruise ship is very hard to navigate with a stroller, wheelchair, etc. Hardly any activities for 2 year olds. The one thing she could do was swim in the kiddie section on nice days but it was too small and too crowded. On cold and windy days it was very hard to find something for her to do. Some staff members were amazing, while others were down right rude. I had tried the flow rider for the first time and the female staff member "helping" me was getting annoyed with me because I was struggling. Most of the staff in the windjammer were great. Food was okay. Seemed like the same food everyday just about. They misplaced my luggage on the last day. I waited a good 45 minutes before they found it. All while trying to keep my daughter happy. I would not recommend this ship. Read Less

We choose this cruise for the affordability and because we have been wanting to try Royal Caribbean. The service from our state room attendant, Byron, and our waiter in the main dining room, Michael, were excellent and very attentive! The ship was clean and we enjoyed the shows. We were disappointed with the food - it lacked flavor and tasted like it was mass produced. The crab cakes were made with imitation crab and the pasta was undercooked. Dessert presentation was beautiful but the taste was artificial, with the exception of the apple pie which was delicious. The lamb and the beef were excellent. My husband enjoyed the roasted chicken. Breakfast in the Windjammer was the highlight. We were disappointed in breakfast in the dining room. The hollandaise sauce on the eggs Benedict was flavorless and the eggs were overcooked. The hash brown was soggy underneath a grilled tomato. There was only one small place to get food after 9:00 and the line was very long. The pizza was soggy and tasted like cardboard. The frozen drinks were inconsistent - we have several that were very good but for the most part they lacked flavor and tasted watered down. We did not have a drink plan and found that we did fine with water, lemonade, and iced tea. That being said, we spent a lot for one alcoholic drink and expected it to be flavorful. We enjoyed the shows on board. There was good variety and the performers were very talented. Embarkment was smooth as was disembarkation. The muster drill was tough - had to stand in rows through explanation in 2 languages. It was hot and if in the back part very clausterphobic. Would suggest dividing people by language if possible. The spa was nice but they try to sell you stuff when you leave. I had a great massage. My husband's was not as good and he was in a room where he could hear door closing and talking from other rooms; not so relaxing. We received an anniversary special for $50 off a spa treatment but it was a port day only and we had already had our port day! So it was useless. Read Less

Cruise was overcrowded to the point that you have to waited over a 30 minutes everywhere in ship even in the pool which is ridiculous. The ship had 6 hot tubs all of them overcrowded and children under 7 years will not allow adults to get in it cause it was a small pool to them to jump and play around and stafff will not remove them or said anything to them. Children were running around the ship until 1AM or later. The Food was plain and not Flavor or neither taste in the windjamme. The main dinner time due to overcrowded prior reservation to the cruise were not accepted therefore you had to do a reservation everyday by12 PM if not you have to wait for over an hour to eat dinner which was ridiculous. I was disappointed at the overall service specially I never found so many nasty atittude bartenders in a cruise ship - I have experienced. If you going into this trip make sure you use the casino bar - it was the only bartender who was attentive and courteous. Due to all the waiting around the ship, we had to take the elevators continuously in order not to waisted 30 minutes to get to a different floor. Read Less

We chose this cruise for a celebration of birthdays in my family. We cruise 1-2 times per year on a variety of cruise lines. I have been on rccl only on chartered trips for company conventions and it was a totally different experience then. This cruise left NJ which was actually great. Nice weather heading out. BUT as day one went on we began to realize how poorly this ship is layed out. The rooms have been jammed with passengers and there is nowhere to put them all. Our room (a balcony) has three people and the pull down is over the main bed so we smack our heads every time we sit up. You can’t get a table, a chair or a place to sit no matter where you go. Even dinner reservations have us waiting 50 minutes in line. The only main dining room is Sapphire and it is always a wait. Any time dining is not any time. You still have to make a reservation or you wait hours. They don’t tell you this and in the first night we ended up with nothing but the buffet for dinner unless we waited until 9 with a child. None of the show times coordinate with anything else and you can’t make any of them. The only dinner time we could get for the week was 7:30 and the shows are 7 or 9 if any. The performers are great, but do the same thing every night. No comedy clubs or variety like other cruise lines offer. The public washrooms are almost always half out of order and gross. Every toilet on the ship stinks of old pee, including in the staterooms. We have a drink package and there are only two pool bars. The waiters hardly ever come by and the bar lineup is always insane. Every night at some point we are given a cheap wine which isn't what we ordered. You can't get near the pool bars most of the time without waiting 15 minutes. Port Canaveral is the worst port that I have ever been to. We attempted to get off and discovered that without a $50 cab ride there is nothing at the port. I mean nothing. It is literally a cruise terminal in the middle of nowhere. CocoCay is beautiful. We had bad weather when we were there so we didn't get to enjoy it much, but it was excellent. Nassau was amazing as always. Disembarkation was brutal. We chose the self serve walk off because we drove 9 hours to the port and wanted to be able to get on the road (without a flight they had us scheduled at 9:30 to disembark). They were unprepared for the crowd who chose self service and started moving everyone down a floor without telling them that they would then have to get upstairs again to get off. We all waited stuffed like sardines for over an hour to get off. People were yelling at each other, it was awful. Huge let down unfortunately. This is my 12th cruise (3rd with Royal) and first disappointment. Will not do Royal Caribbean again after this experience. Read Less

I chose Royal Caribbean because I have been on many cruises before and I never had a problem. This cruise was different......the weather was horrible( not Royal Carribean fault) It was Mothers Day and we were not told children cruised for FREE!!!(to many kids) I chose my time dinning and was treated different. I was asked where I sat the night before??? Why? The entertainment was far and few. On Deck 11 I sat on a lounger ( one of the two sunny days we had) and was told I could not sit in that section unless I had a GOLD card. I told the gentlemen I was a platinum card holder. He told me I could not sit there unless I had a gold card. Almost all of thoses seats remained opened all day. There was a charge for Johnny Rockets food. I only had to pay for the soda and milk shakes before. The casino had so many machines that were not working and since it was raining everyone was there. Needless to say you stood in line to get a machine. When I disembarked I went to the floor I was told to go. When I tried to leave the elevator there were so many people standing there I could barely get out. No one was around to instruct people where to go. Very frustrating!!!!!! Read Less

I have sailed on RC before..... it was great. This time, food was HORRIBLE, filthy public bathrooms, short staffed, ran out of vodka to take home, inconsistent air conditioning, areas of the ship smelled like a cesspool, no ventilation in elevators, no coffee etc by pools, had to walk soooooo far for a coffee or iced tea etc., waited 10-15 minutes to get a drink at the bar at dinnertime. When I boarded, they gave us the wrong room and I spent the entire first day online at guest services trying to straighten it out. But I still CANNOT GET OVER HOW BAD THE FOOD WAS. The only positive I can think of is that the staff was wonderful, polite, cheerful and very accommodating. I will not be sailing RC anytime soon. Celebrity or even Carnival for me. It seems they are cutting amenities so they can save money to build new ships. Read Less

After going on one of RC's biggest ships, it is tough to go back to a smaller ship. Embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly. Room was adequate. Steward was nice. Had a not-so-nice experience at last night's MDR dinner (waiter failed to inform me that the fish of the day had been changed and placed the new fish in front of me without offering me a chance to re-order my dinner - I was not pleased when he tried to blame the kitchen instead of himself). Now I know why people avoid dinner in the MDR on the last night. Food and service at Windjammer was better than expected (should have had dinner here on the last night - Mongolian grill). Spent most of the time at the FlowRider. Advice: Do not bring a power strip / extension cord - they took mine away at security. Could not do anything at Port Canaveral without taking transportation (nothing walkable). Coco Cay was boring as it was too windy to enjoy the beach. Nassau was nice to walk and shop. Based on this cruise, I would not cruise RC again. Read Less

Food was good, service was awful. Room service forgot our items more than once. Starbucks employees extremely rude. Cleanliness was terrible at Starbucks. I would not recommend Royal Caribbean adventure of the seas. The ship was too small. It was supposed to be refurbished but our bedroom was not done, shower was peeling and the windjammer had peeling wall paper all around. The best part was having dinner in the sapphire room. Service was good and food was delicious. From start to finish there were problems. From embarking the ship, the crew not advising us where to go, to the lousy service. We had high hopes for this cruise. I heard a lot of good things. I hope who ever reads this has better luck than us. I’ll learn to never compare cruise lines again. I wish now that we had gone with Norwegian cruise lines. Sorry for the bashing. Read Less

We are frequent cruisers on RCI. The nightly entertainment was sub-par with the exception of Men of Culture and the piano man in the Schooner bar. All other band entertainment failed to engage the crowd and didn't even look to be enjoying what they were playing. My Time dining seating was terrible. We were twice placed next to the service station, so I felt like I was sitting in the kitchen. When I complained I was given an attitude and reluctantly moved. Second breakfast in the main dining room service was terrible. Failed to bring part of my order and then never returned to ask if we wanted more coffee or anything else. The mattress in our room was horrible. Experienced back and hip pain all week. The stateroom attendant tried her best to improve the situation but only had limited options, which were not sufficient. Chops was disappointing, as I ordered the lobster at an additional $21.00 and it was small and over cooked, making it very dry. Both my husband and myself were sick after eating at Giovanni's. I would not recommend this ship to any one. Sorry RCI, but this was our worst trip ever. Read Less

My wife and I decided to try a cruise. The Good: great food, suprisingly well equipped fitness area, and the staff was super friendly. The Bad: Prepare to pay additional costs for anything and everything. See Details Below. We spoke to an older couple at dinner early in the cruise who indicated they had been on countless cruises since 1984 and they assured us this is the worst they’ve been on so far. This confirmed our concerns about our own poor experience. Our first cruise experience and probably our last. We stayed in room 2343. Not a suite but not really a room either. The bed was hard as a rock. The room smaller than any hotel room we have ever stayed. Barely any TV except the massive array of royal Caribbean commercials and channels trying to sell you Royal Caribbean cruises and sponsored products. There are only two electrical outlets in the entire room so you may have to take turns charging devices. The food: Is delicious if you don’t mind waiting in line regardless of reservations. We didn’t bother trying most of the specialty dining restaurants as they are all additional costs on top of the already expensive trip. Internet package: Don’t bother. I understand the limitations of wireless at sea. However with the amount they charge per day per device, you would expect to be able to reliably stay on the internet or load a webpage. Don’t expect to stream anything. With so many people on the ship even simple web browsing is impossible. It might be cheaper and less frustrating to talk to your cellular provider if they offer international or roaming options instead. Beverage package: Don’t bother. You get a cup that you can fill up with soda or water in only 2 locations despite there being 14 decks (The Windjammer dining area and the 5th floor). You get no bottled water in the room nor is it available without paying. They really want you to pay the 3-6 dollars for bottled water or even more for other beverages on a cruise you could have sworn you already paid for in full. The worst part is the mandatory 18% gratuity on everything. We can understand that tips are essential to service personnel and having it automatically included ensures a consistent pay for all employees. However, we prepaid the service gratuity per day before embarking. The crew does provide good service but you’re asked if you will leave an additional tip on top of the mandatory 18% on each item you buy on the ship. Not only did you prepay for service tip, everything on the entire ship has 18% automatically added as an additional fee (that 3 dollar coffee is 3.54). Don’t be shocked if the crew gives you a look when you don’t put a tip. Overall, I don’t know if we will be back on a cruise. If we want to throw away money we’ll go to Vegas. Read Less

Adventure of the Seas was “just OK” this cruise. The ship itself was clean, and well maintained. What was lackluster was the dining in both main and windjammer dining rooms. The menu never really changes, and service was extremely slow. Waiters never remembered our names, or what drinks we ordered everyday. The waitstaff seemed overwhelmed. No music in the dining room gave a gloomy feel while there. Windjammer selection never changed, and quality of food was less that Golden Corral. It seems as though Royal Caribbean is driving you to pay for the alternative dining of Chops Grill or Giovanni’s. The main theatre entertainment just OK. Some performances were canceled and substituted- coming off as unrehearsed. Entertainment brought on to the ship - illusionist and comedians very good. Cruise director really trying to get things going, but never really did. Cabin was very good, and stateroom attendant was excellent. Lizbeth was friendly and always available. I would not choose Adventure of the Seas again. Read Less

My family and I have been on 15 cruises but this was our first with RCCL. I really have no idea how this ship or cruise line gets high ratings on anything. The food in the buffet was the worst I’ve ever had. They really like curry and you better hope you love it too. We winded up eating burgers and hotdogs every time we ate at the buffet. Absolutely nothing appetizing there. No Asian station. No desserts only weird custards and puddings. Almost broke a tooth on a macaroon. Three times no lettuce to even make a salad. Please just stay away from the buffet. The main dining room was ok but not that much better. There’s nothing to eat after 9:30 so you better not be hungry after that. Ran out of cherries for drinks. Ran out of mix for pina colladas. Ran out of cones for ice cream machine which closes at 9 so no ice cream for you after that. I really can’t stress enough how bad the food was in the buffet. They want you paying extra in specialty restaurants so I think they make it as disgusting as possible. Shows were not that great. Boring and lackluster. I think a lot of these cruise lines are going downhill fast in all categories. Staff seems uninterested and not helpful. I did enjoy the spacious junior suite. Was roomy with plenty of storage and worth the little bit extra. Room was hot though as most of the ship was. Felt like they were trying to save money and not use air conditioning. Dining rooms and casino felt hot too. Overall it was a meh vacation for me and I wouldn’t book another cruise with RCCL. Read Less

I am very disappointed in the ship and the cruise. I’ll list out my issues one by one. 1. There’s too many passengers on the ship. It was remodeled, but it seems they just added rooms. Days at sea are filled with fighting for elbow room with fellow guests. Long lines precede every single activity. With the exception of the gym after the first day, everything was packed. 2. The amenities are so-so. Flow rider? Rock climbing? Ehhh. Nothing spectacular. The pools are small and the hot tubs needed some maintenance and will ALWAYS filled. 3. Service was hit or miss. Stateroom attendant and 1 waiter were awesome. The rest was either bare minimum or rude/incompetent. The arcade featured nearly half of the games broken. When I asked the worker to fix the toy dispenser you use your tickets on so my child could get the toy they wanted, he said “Jesus Christ” and angrily fixed it. 4. As mentioned, the arcade had nearly half of the games broken and unavailable. 5. Food was just OK. Was handed dirty silverware in the windjammer cafe one day. They have one soft serve ice cream station on the whole ship and the line was always ridiculously long. 6. The trip left little actual time at the destinations and too many days at sea on that horrible ship. 7. The gym was nice. That’s about it. Would never cruise with RC again (I had over 20 years ago and the ship I was on was better then). I may not ever cruise again that’s how bad this was. Read Less

My wife and our adult daughter sailed on Adventure of the Seas on July 6 to the Bahamas. This cruise was our birthday gift to our daughter, who had never been on a cruise before. My wife and I have been sailing almost exclusively over the years with Celebrity. We gave our daughter the choice of a Celebrity cruise to Bermuda or a Royal Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas. Both were for one week and both were on older ships. Our daughter chose the Royal Caribbean cruise because of the itinerary. She and my wife shared a balcony cabin. Some observations, courtesy of my wife: 1. The public restrooms were filthy. There were no attendants to clean them during daylight hours. The bathroom floors on the pool deck were wet, slippery and dangerous. 2. Hand sanitizers which should be ubiquitous on all cruise ships were no where to be found. Sinks at the entrance to the Windjammer buffet restaurant were not used by all passengers. My wife had to actually ask for hand sanitizers and she was told on one occasion that none were available. 3. Overheated passengers returning to the ship from shore were not offered cold face towels or cold drinks to refresh themselves, and of course, no hand sanitizers were on display. Clearly, cleanliness was not a priority on this ship. 4. My wife described the vaunted on-board entertainment, allegedly a Royal Caribbean strength, as nothing special. 5. On a number of occasions the staff was slow clearing dirty plates from tables in the always crowded Windjammer buffet restaurant. 6. Even though disembarking at the port of Coco Cay (Royal Caribbean’s private island) is a ritual the ship performs on a weekly basis, you would think the crew would have learned how and known better. Thousands of impatient passengers were trapped in small, narrow, overheated, confining exit ways for 90 brutal minutes before being allowed off the ship. There were no water fountains at hand. Not surprisingly, under these extremely uncomfortable conditions the mob of passengers became unruly. My wife said she’s seen better organized riots. 7. My wife noted the door frames in their cabin shower were rusty. Same with the floor surface on the balcony. Curiously, these features did not appear in the Royal Caribbean cruise brochure. 8. Although she was Diamond class by virtue of her past cruises on Celebrity, my wife had to actually ask for basics like a shower cap and lotions and a robe. The cabin had no carafe of ice water. 9. Having purchased a soda package, my wife had to continually ask for straws, which the crew were stingy to hand out allegedly due to environmental concerns — but they were ever present on more expensive alcoholic beverages. 10. To be sure, and in fairness to Royal Caribbean, there were parts of the cruise my wife did enjoy. Contrary to her low expectations, my wife said the food was decent, though selections on the MDR menu were limited. She said her cabin attendant and MDR server were very good. But maybe because we booked this cruise late, the fare was no bargain compared to what we pay on Celebrity (where we normally book early) — and yet she received a lot less for our money. For years we’ve heard Celebrity described as an upscale version of Royal Caribbean (they are both owned by the same parent company), but until my wife’s upsetting experiences on this cruise we were unable to appreciate what upscale really means. I have wanted to go on a Royal Caribbean Cruise for many, many years. I was extremely disappointed and had much higher expectations especially with Royal Caribbean. My biggest disappointment is with the food. I imagined it was going to be much better than Carnival (in which I said I would never travel with again) since the prices are so much higher and I have heard good reviews from friends. We traveled with a family of 7 and booked two rooms but part of a family reunion which was part of a bigger group of 30 guest in total. We wanted to dine together therefore most of us preferred to use the buffet Windjammer to accommodate our large group for breakfast & lunch and the big dinning room for dinner. The buffet food was repetitious from day one in which we got tired and lost interest in it by day 3. Dinner was better but not by a long stretch. There also wasn't much options for those seeking a healthier meal therefore leading to a lot of G.I/stomach issues throughout the week. The thoughts I had of indulging in some seafood while on vacation became just a fantasy. However we was very impressed by our service/staff who extended themselves to please all of us (including our children who was the most difficult). Louis, Sallyann and Ravenraj specifically not only displayed professional service but their kindness, passion and even love they provided us added to our vacation and great memories. We looked forward in seeing them on a daily basis. The Mystery Dinner Hubby and I had alone as a date night (Wedding Anniversary) was also over priced and again disappointed with food. Limited menu options and we both didnt care for our food. We both left hungry since we practically ate anything but had no where else we could go to have a meal we would enjoy. Ahmad provided the service to our rooms, he did a fantastic job making sure he cleaned after us several times through out the day regardless of the challenges our boys would leave behind. Although looking under the bed and behind the night tables in search of a missing toy we was surprised on how must dust was found, it made us wonder if that contribute to the constant sneezing our boys had that clearly only took place when inside our cabin? Upon arrival my in laws had no working A.S, the fridge was hot (upsetting since important meds needed to be quickly refrigerated after being out so long boarding the ship. and there was workers fixing the bathroom that made it uncomfortable in the tight space. The issue was resolved later that day. The ship itself was old, and very out dated compared to what is usually advertised therefore not what we expected. We found musty smell in many different parts of the ship. The shows were great, my personal favorite was "Love and Marriage" (hysterical), hubby & in laws enjoyed the casino (smaller than they expected). Our boys loved the kids club (especially Gaga ball) Mini Gulf, and the Water Slides. Ice cream/ Artic Zone was everyone's favorite! Seating was always challenging to obtain by the pool (with our towels & chairs taken often by other guest causing conflict on a few occasions). The massage was ok, not a lot of techniques used other than pressure and circular oil rub. I have received much better but also a lot worse. It was pricey therefore I refused to have anyone spent any additional money there even when offered to me as a treat for a mediocre massage. The day we got to Coco Cay was a complete nightmare! The long waiting, the insane line's and tension with guest arguing with each other to exit off the ship was ridiculous, completely unorganized, and made me wonder how the staff could handle an emergency (not a good feeling at all). It was brutally hot on the island and we made the mistake of setting up at the further end of the beach that had no drinks, nor food nearby. My 9 year old over heated within the first hour and nearly passed out. I had to seek assistance from the life guard for transportation to get him hydrated but took nearly 20 min under the sun with no shade to finally get someone to drive over. Luckily he recovered once we got him into the shade and hydrated. My in laws had to sit inside the Tiki bar for the remaining of our stay to stay cool. Father in law got attacked by the seagulls when he attempted to bring food over to my diabetic mother in law who was too tired & hot to walk any more. No staff to help. As for the food, I was looking forward to something different to eat but instead got dogs, burgers, ribs and the same food type from the ships buffet. Very, very disappointing! To add to our list of our not so good experience, we got charges for drinks despite using our prepaid drink packages! Speaking of charges our bill/charges at the end was disgusting when it appeared to have multiple charges made by error and we was expected to pay for the WiFi package that only worked for a portion of the time. The trip to Atlantis Bahamas was a lot better without any hiccups. We did our best to make the most of this trip with all of our family & friends and create special memories (especially with having to deal with the recent life altering events made when our son was diagnosed with leukemia). This is why I gave this survey this rating.. After this experience, I believe we are done with Cruising (Well we may plan a Disney Cruise if possible, at the request of our son).I will not recommend anyone to go to Adventure by the Sea, but having the port nearby was convenient. We had a large group of 34 fanily memebers. None of them were happy with this ship. They have been on about 25 cruises and this ship was the worst. Games in arcade were out of order. Elevators were out of order. Refrigerator in our room didn't work. Bathrooms were out of order. Air conditioner in our room didn't work 2 nights. The line to get off the ship at Cococay Bahamas was not controlled and it took 2 hours to get off the ship. There was almost a physical altercation directly in front of us because the line was not controlled. People were coming down the elevators and steps and cutting the lines. We had made reservations in the main dining the very first day we boarded. One of the nights, they gave our table away so we didn't get to eat with our family. Aside from the kids club, some of the crew members are not kid friendly. I would absolutely never spend the money we spent to get on this cruise ship! Read Less

I was very disappointed overall entire cruise . The food was average . The lack of choices of women could go without having to pay to eat was minimal . The cleanliness of the ship was disappointing .My state room bathroom had a terrible smell of urine the entire time which my state room attendant tried multiple times to clean but he was unable to rid this smell. There was only one ice cream machine on the entire ship and many times when we went there it was shut down for service . The when jammer which was it a fair shot down by 9 o’clock at night there’s really no place to go get food if you want to late night snack other in the promenade which had very limited selection of food . our first day of getting off the ship the lines were insane and took about an hour and a half to get off there was no organization . I felt there was no direction or information regarding any of the excursions been trying to get help and the shows and entertainment in my opinion awful . Have been on more than seven cruises on various cruise lines and this by far was the worst . Also my son was eating a piece of chicken and a piece of toothpick was in the food and got lodged into his throat . The one thing I do need to say all of the workers were very pleasant and very nice . Many people who I spoke with on the ship who had sailed on Royal Caribbean prior said this was the worst Royal Caribbean cruise they had been on so I don’t know what happened on this particular sailing . also felt like they just tried to get additional money out of you at every corner you turned . Ship look like other than the main promenade that he just needed to be upgraded and renovated it looked worn down and just was not maintained to a cleanliness standards that should have been . We did 2 perfect cruises in Europe with RCC but the Behama cruise was not good. 8:00 in the morning all the chairs at the pools were taken by bleu towels. Policy RCC: The reserving of deck chairs is not permitted. Items left unattended on deck chairs for more than 30 minutes may be claimed at the towel stand. (shield on all the pools). We have seen a family of 4 with 8 towels taking 4 chairs in the shade and 4 in the sun. When complaining...RCC personel did not react. Even people put there towels before they made an excursion. Formal dinner evening. Policy: No shorts or slippers are alowed. First man in the line had schort and slippers to go in te main dining room. No problem, nobody said anything. Policy? None. Food in the dining room not so refined as in europ. 5 of 10 items returned nearly everyday. Mash patato was part of a lot of dishes. In comparison with the cruises we did with RCC in europ was this a bad experience with a lot of undiciplined Americans and there children loading up mass food, take a few bytes and left the rest. I was ashamed in there place. Imaging what the Indian staff must think. In there country are still people starving. In my opinion RCC is going backwords in not holding on to there own policy and except everyting from ther guest as long as it brings money everyting seems to be allowed. Taking drinks in the pool? No problem. Drinks in the jacusi? No problem. Shorts with formal dining? No problem. I don't think we wil choose RCC ever again. Read Less

We chose this cruise because our normal cruise line did not have the dates we needed. Will never go on a Royal Caribbean again. Lots of stuff trying to be sold to you. It was not a celebration at all. No music or DJ poolside. At one point people started singing themselves because it was sooo boring. We usually cruise Norwegian and from the moment you leave port it is a celebration. Private island felt not completed. We watched people fall or almost fall over and over again in the pool area. Stone used was much more for looks then for safety. There was no one at the boat to meet us coming back from excursions. The one day the weather was horrible and everyone came back soaked. We were met by security people only and no one from the ship came down and offered towels or assistance. Shocked that they still allowed smoking in the ship without a ventilation system of some sort to pull some of the smoke out. Also smoking on deck with no separation so if you were on the opposite side of the deck you still got hit with smoke. Read Less

We came on this cruise for a Family Vacation. We traveled with 18 family members. My family members are the reason that I had an amazing time on this cruise. I traveled on Royal Caribbean three years ago for the New Year's cruise and had a wonderful time. In this three years, I think Royal Caribbean has really gone down hill. First of all the quality of the food and the ship have decreased. On the third day I decided to only eat the vegetarian meals and they were much better. The ship was very rundown. We booked this cruise because the ship was supposedly refurbished. Well, I don't believe that. The elevators were never running, some of the rooms were smelly and moldy and many areas just looked old. My mom, aunt and daughter stayed in a toxic room that made them sick. We complained several times. Finally on the third night they agreed the room smelled and moved their room. In my opinion they should have received an upgrade at that point. They offered 10% on a future cruise. WHAT? Finally they gave them 25% on a future cruise, but this deal has many limitations. I still don't think this is fair. My mom is a diamond member and has traveled on 40 Royal Caribbean cruises. They could have done better for her. The final and most important reason, I felt disappointed in this cruise is that I felt nickeled and dimed to death. Every little thing costs more money. The dining hall even charges for some items. You have to pay for umbrellas at their own island. That is just plain dangerous. Royal Caribbean overbooks these cruises. There are way too many people and lines everywhere. Thank goodness I was with the most fabulous family. They made my time wonderful and enjoyable. Royal Caribbean, you need to do some work!!!!!!!! Read Less

Royal Caribbean's quality has really taken a dive. I have cruised with them multiple times in the past; my last cruise was six years ago. I came back from this cruise last week and what a huge disappointment it was. The food quality has diminished a lot, the selection wouldn't change much from day to day, there were a few stations that would be exactly the same choices during the entire cruise. The alcohol is watered down, (very cheesy), the room, and ship in general, show wear and tear. The have cut down in staff and the current one is so stressed out affecting the pleasantry of their interaction with the guests and the timely manner in which they provide their services. The rooms' furniture show age, the sofa had stains on it so did the carpet. The towels were so thin from been used and washed so much. The were no real shows, only one ice skating show that can be described as amateur at best. Too much of the activities are designed for the passengers to spend more money. I'll be trying a different cruise line next time. Read Less
