This was a dreadful ship. Money money - wanted all the way. Popcorn for the show was $2 Mattress was terrible not one good night's sleep - told the mattress would be replaced at the end of October. Nothing to do for 65+ on the ship but play trivia. Except for 2 good headliner shows the entertainment was BAD. Food terrible the whole cruise. Good service in my time dining - this did not make up for poor food and almost the same menu every night. Speciality dining no better Giovannis had worse food \cooking than the dining room. Johnny Rockets was a joke!!! Some shore excursions were good. No help for anyone with walking difficulties getting on and off the ship. Disembarkation was a joke. Walked up and back through the ship. Any simple requests needed to be approved by a Supervisor e.g. Wanted a kettle took a few days to get it. Or the response was"that is not in my job description". When requesting sharpen pencils in one of the few craft activities. I will no longer be Loyal to Royal!!!! Read Less

STAFF Many of the staff unfriendly, and not helpful or not willing to help. Never answered phones when calling because of long lines at the customer service desk. I have never seem so many employees not willing or able to make a simple decision. I am not a needy person. I own a business and thought about if this was my business. Except for the states room personnel, all employees; food, managers, service, etc., seem to be unhappy and clearly it affected their jobs. It is clear that giving tips automatically has hurt the service on these cruises. INTERNET Internet worthless. They print material saying fastest internet at sea (Voom). Did not work two days, completely down, struggled to load a simple web page, and instead of refunding paying customers for the days not working, hours in line to negotiate refund for lost days. Employee handling my refund looked around to see if any other customers were looking to show me what he was taking off my bill. They clearly did not want to do the right thing and simply refund their customers for something they paid for and did not get. I spent at least two hours on the first day trying to credit a stupid credit that should have been given in the first place. The second time the internet went down, the line as two hours long for the same damn thing. I call the service desk and said I would not stand in line. They said someone would call me back. I said the last time it took two days. I told the service person to call themselves and give me the refund. I received the refund several days after the cruise. DINING We purchased upscale dining. Employee setting times had not clue what he was doing. Arrived at Izumi for a 7:15 reservation at 6:50. Nobody in restaurant and they would not seat us until 7:10. Ordered at 7:30 after asking to be helped and left the restaurant at 8:10, no food, late for show. Employees eating there sat down after us, ate, and left withing 20 minutes. Manager threw the server under the bus and blamed him and our complicated order (we ordered off the menu) as the reason for the mess. After the show we decided to eat at 10 PM at Johnny Rockets. They charged is $12.00 per person. After many, many conversation with the manager, hours wasted, they finally refunded the Johnny Rockets and our up-charge for the fine dining. Food was good at the other two restaurants, but the menu never changed. Just go once or twice and not purchase every night. Moral of the story, find another cruise line! Read Less

Cabin 7232 ..size of balcony was very nice. Lots of storage. But no special soaps and stuff like I'm use to. Windjammer (buffet) ..no service everything was self service and the choice of foods were limited . I only went here 2 times when forced . Promenade restaurant did a great job on pizza , also at breakfast had a small variety. But the food tasted good. Main dining, the service was great!!! Breakfast and lunch were good. Dinner had very little change from night to night, also was were most of our group had problems with the food. Fish really smelled. If you are vegetation or Vegan you will have a terrible time eating. The Promenade was dark , I always felt as if it were night. Lacked in shows. They didn't repeat the movies under the stars on the tv. I did like the new registration process. All the people working on the ship was amazing!! You could smell the smoke from the casino on deck 5 (casino is on deck 4) Don't leave anyone that is disabled down on the port .. Our friends were forgotten and had to work their way onto the ship. I think that is sad. Read Less

As a frequent cruiser, I have maintained that Royal was my favorite line. Not so after this trip. The balcony room that I had, had a thermostat that did not work, toilet that never would flush without manual assistance, and mattress and pillows that were so hard that some cruisers purchased "egg crates" is Quebec City to improve the condition . I repeatedly had to request tissues and toilet paper. Also, there was an adjoining room that made it impossible to block out light and conversations and wake up calls were audible. Also, two of the main elevators were inoperable for the entire trip. The entire ship was without limes, raisins, Pino Grigio, Jack Daniels and paper bar napkins for the last eight days of the cruise even though we had harbored in Portland and Boston. Exiting the ship in Saint John and Bar Harbor was very poorly organized and time consuming. On board I expresssed my concerns to front desk personnel and was told that it was as it was and there was nothing to be done. Upon return, I sent a letter defining my concerns to Mr. Bayley, CEO of Royal, and in a response from a member of the Executive staff, again, none of my concerns were discussed.I was offerred a $50.00 OBC on a future cruise within the next year. With such a dismissal, do they really expect I would cruise with Royal again when there are so many options. Read Less

Don't waste your money. Ship crew could care less about you having a good time. They just want to suck as much of your money as they can while your on ship. Areas of ship are not available to most customers unless you have special sail and sign card, which you get by going on many cruises. Private dining restaurants take up room, leaving less room for dining and sitting and relaxing and you have to pay extra for their services. Forget trying to get chair poolside, people save multiple chairs and signs about saving chairs put out by Royal Caribbean are ignored by staff when asked to enforce rules. Areas of the pool deck are cordened off for guests with gold sign and sail cards while people who paid thousands of dollars to be on ship have to walk and wait for hours! Royal Caribbean costs to much for what you get. I will not give this company another penny of my money. If Royal Caribbean cared about current customers being future customers they would change their policies. I spoke to customer service and was told there was nothing they could do! I've cruised on three other cruise lines and was not treated the way I was on this cruise! Don't waste your money! NOT WORTH IT!! Spent last two days in room tired of standing waiting for place to sit! I sit here now, in room sending this review! I'm glad I waited to buy that $1,200.00 watch. I think I'll buy one back home. We were looking to go to Canada/New England. But was highly disappointed with Royal Caribbean. The food in both the Main Dining Room and the Windjammer were the same food everyday. Basically no variety even though on the website and on ship it states that there is different food everyday. Not on this cruise. The pool area: the pool and splash area closed at 6 pm everyday. Kids on the cruise were very disappointed with this. The flow rider and the slides were not open when you think they would be. Therefore when they were open very long lines. My son was very disappointed with the kids club. The kids club put all kids together on port days, which is understandable but also was the perfect opportunity for the younger kids to be bullied by older kids and my son was. Told staff about but nothing was done. One elevator was broken entire cruise, never fixed. Couple sets of stairs where closed off during the cruise, which made it even harder to get around. Should of had maps of ship, but none were available. The scavenger hunt was joke. Instead of looking for items like you would think you would do for a scavenger hunt, the contestants were handed items from their friends/family. So don't do this hunt unless you have a huge group with you. The chairs by the pool were always reserved by people getting towels or other items and putting them on the pool chairs very early in the morning, every day. Even though it says it is not allowed and items will be removed if left unattended for more than 30 minutes, Hours went by and the items are never removed, So much for even posting a sign about it. Also, certain table by the pool have a no smoking sign on them but people still smoked in that area and the workers just left them do it even though people had little kids that were coughing due to smoke in their faces. Staff did nothing about it. We did have the greatest waiter and assistant waiter, Janeta and Pavlo were the best. Read Less

We cruises as a couple, mid 50's with many cruises on Royal. Booked for the itinerary & ship as we were excited to have a Voyager-class ship back at Cape Liberty. We live within a short drive. Check in is amazing. Quick, friendly, and we were on the ship very quickly. We were in a junior suite, mid ship. Our cabin was clean albeit since she is so recently out of dry dock and refurb we were both kind of surprised to see so much rust on the inside of our bathroom door and on the rails for the balcony doors. Our steward was very good- friendly, attentive and kept our cabin clean. But, when we arrived, there was a pair of socks in one draw, and halfway through the cruise, when we moved a chair, there was a pair of mens shoes under it. There was a plate of cookies upon our arrival (D+) which we quickly gave to our steward because I am allergic to nuts and the cookies had nuts. Note: seems like the whole allergy thing is not handled as well as it should and could be. Others I spoke with after the cruise said they had trouble with gluten allergy. Food; food is subjective. We had breakfast every day in the mdr in the D+ area, and the service was excellent. But, the food, well, it was okay, we can't complain, but by no means it is top notch or excellent, its acceptable. Night one we ate at Shops Grille, it was very, very good. Night 2 Giovanni's and a complete and utter fail. Again, allergy issues. We told our waitress I was allergic to nuts- the bread has pesto, she brought that out. We ordered Mozzarella and tomato, she brought it out with the pesto, we ordered the plank she brought it out with the mortadella. Obviously she took it away when we brought it to her attention, ordering us new, without nut dishes, but she had already put in our meals? (So, they sat for a very long time under heat lamps keeping warm, totally making them almost uneatable- except for my husbands shrimp, my branzino and our shared mushroom ravioli were bad. The evening was a fail. Plus, no Italian would every add nuts to a Cannoli- Royal you should get this right it is not tough. So, after coffee, after 30 minutes we needed to get up and ask for our check because our waitress was overwhelmed with other tables. Special restaurant= not so much. Our Concierge desperately wanted to make it up to us and sent us there 2 nights later complimentary. It was much better, but things can be improved here for sure. The 2 nights we went to the MDR we were disappointed. What happened to the Escargot? It was GRITTY and the absolute wrong texture = disappointment. So, back to Chops we went (Yes, RC, we know this is what you want to read because it equates to revenue). Izumi- by far the best thing on all your ships. We saved the best for last but ended up kicking ourselves because we should have eaten here most nights. Chef Travis deserves a raise! A personal thank you to him for letting Izumi staff know I am historically and typically a positive brand ambassador for Royal Caribbean for many years. Even Johnny Rockets changed----- is it so difficult to bring out the fries and onion rings before the burgers/sandwiches, Like you used to? Yes, it is the little things that you change that take away from the guest experience. Entertainment: This is the first time in well over 15 years that I can say I was disappointed with the singers. While voices were great, they were paired with the wrong music. A great operatic voice just does not sing 60s and 70s and 80s Pop music very well. Again, this is also a subjective area. During the promenade disco party, the water-tight door sirens sounded and the doors began to close- we were on deck 7 over looking the promenade with a dozen or more others. Panic ensued. Within 5 minutes this rectified itself, but people around us were not happy that there was never an announcement made,. and we saw but one security guy just poking around us on deck 7. When asked, he made light of the situation. No one found this satisfactory. Disembarking via tender= folks need to know that lines are very long and you can need to stand waiting for almost one hour- even when you go at the avoid-the-long-lines recommended time- So, the night before our tender port of call, the CD made a statement that to avoid long waiting lines to arrive 10:30 or after, which we did. The line was still a 45+ long line and there is absolutely NO accommodation if anyone needs for medical reasons unless they are in a wheelchair. So, if you can't stand for any period of time, you will have no choice but to not get off, so to get around this you should probably book a RC excursion, otherwise they will not even listen to you. Guest relations manager was borderline cruel in his response to me and wouldn't even acknowledge that i wanted to show him medical cards. Lastly, there was a savannah cat brought on board. We were told that RC cleared this animal as a service animal for seizures. Do your own research on this type of animal, make your own decisions on if it is a pet or can be a trained service animal. The owners told people to not go near it because they didn't know how it would react. It is an angry animal that growls and hisses at you. For a brand that I adore I am disillusioned and sad. Disappointed. But we will enjoy our upcoming 16 night Royal cruise and continue to enjoy our X cruises (4 currently booked). Questions? Just ask. Read Less

Very dirty stained furniture in cabin! Very limited food available after 9 pm, bring you own snacks! Many elevators broken and not working causing issues for passengers with walking issues and could be dangerous in an emergency! Menu for dinner in main dining room very limited and repetitious night after night, menu for breakfast identical every day! Workers doing paint chipping before 8 in the morning waking everyone! Buffet area floor dirty wet and slippery, clean up area used on entering buffet not being maintained!Overall it was very hard to believe this ship had just gone through a yard overhaul in February of this year. This was our first and last cruise on RCL and would not recommend RCL! We are experienced cruise people with over 35 past cruises and definitely would rare this cruise as very poor. On a positive side the ice show was exceptional and the production shows were very good. we found very short lines for all the water slides and rock wall which was great for our grand kids! Read Less

Cabin- Workable, several non-functioning items. Cabin Steward was great. Dining services- We were a group of 10 which had arranged to eat together, and had confirming e-mails. When we got there we were split up. We waited at dining services on the 5 floor which sent us to guest services, which sent us to dining services on the 4th floor, which sent us to dining services on the 3rd floor, where it was recommended that we go to guest services. One manager later, and we were no closer to eating at the time we were told, but we were able to eat at the much less popular, late dining time. Sit down dinners were of good quality and the wait staff were friendly. The buffet (the Windjammer) had different food types every day which was nice. The breakfasts were of very poor quality, with the pancakes and french toast being inedible. On board activities- Varied, but not as plentiful as I've seen on other cruises. We pre-purchased arcade credits, but were unable to use them due to technical difficulties. This was refunded, and we were able to play games on board, at a higher price. Guest services- Useless. They really weren't able to fix any problems, and had no concept of service recovery. There were several ways to fix our problems, none of which were pursued. This was our first and last Royal Caribbean cruise. We have been on 10 cruises total, and this ties for the worst (NCL is the other). Read Less

Very little kids activities, one kid movie at night the entire cruise, other R.C. ships have Shrek and other characters but not this cruise line. Guest services was horrible, second time for this issue. R.C. should take a page out of Disney and Chick Fil a's regarding customer service. Guest services on R.C. clearly do not care or want to be there. see pictures for little play area which the slide does not allow kids under 42 inches and the smaller area does not permit kids that are not in diapers. Sucked for my 40.5 inch five year old. Too put this in perspective, my mother-in-law had just got back from a cruise with a friend of hers the week before our trip. She was on one of the newer ships with R.C., Harmony of the Seas. There was so much more to do. She has been on 7-8 cruises with R.C. over the past 12 years and was severely disappointed in this cruise. So much that she is thinking of looking into other cruise lines. This is shocking to me because she has sworn by R.C. for over a decade. I would suggest looking at other cruise lines or a different R.C. ship if you have young travelers. Even though when you book through an R.C. travel agent they recommend Adventures of The Seas for kids, which only frustrates me more. We spent a lot of money on this cruise and to get back from a seven-day cruise to have our kids say the best part of the trip was the hotel in New Jersey prior to boarding the ship is disheartening. Embarkation was not a problem and neither was our cabin - we knew what to expect in terms of size and location, plus our room steward was excellent! We have cruised 5 other times (1 with Carnival, 4 with Norwegian). FOOD: The food was horrible. The food at the Windjammer was cold, old, and they always had several stations closed. Presentation was ugly too. Expect to stand in long lines. They also had a lot of Indian food, or meals with curry for lunch and dinner. We were expecting variety. The food at the main dining room was not much better either. For example, the pasta advertised as having "blue cheese" really had ranch dressing. Lobster tail over cooked. Not tasty; nothing was. No late night snacks besides horrible pizza - expect to make a long line for that too. Make reservations for the main dining room or expect to stand in long disorganized lines as well. Room services had several options but not good either. Lemonade had no sugar. I guess it makes sense if they're trying to sell you their soda package. STAFF: Not really friendly. At first we thought 'this person must be having a bad day' but we began encountering more and more unfriendly staff. They were not rude, just not friendly, no eye contact, no smiles, no 'good morning.' Cruise Director was not really around. In fact, he was our least favorite from all our ships. ENTERTAINMENT: Again, the staff was just not into it. It was boring. The comedian was okay, but I am sensitive to the word "retarted" and didn't find those jokes funny, especially since there were several cruisers with disabilities. If you want to see the ice skating show, make the line 45 minutes before it starts and expect a lot of disorganization that the staff did not address. However, that show was amazing! So was the magic show. You can tell they are truly professionals. Entertainment by the pool was also boring. Make sure you are up by 7am to get a towel because by 9am there might not be any and all the chairs will be reserved. OVERALL: Not worth it. Maybe it was our ship & crew. Other cruisers agreed that something was off. We had a good time because we made an effort to overlook those things. Not sure why they made fun of Carnival (the Walmart of cruise ships).... RC is not any better. Plus food in Carnival was delicious! My husband and I felt it was important to share our experience. If this is your first cruise you should be fine but if you have a bad experience share it because it's the only way RC will make changes or modifications. Read Less

I been to many island but this would be my first to the Bahamas. This was my second cruise. I really enjoyed the entertainment, food and service on my first cruise on Carnival therefore, expected the same if not better experience on Royal based on others feedback. This ship was boring! The band spent more time setting up and breaking down the equipment than actually playing music by the pool. We had to miss the private island because of weather and instead stayed on the ship where a movie was played! No entertainment! I do not go on vacations to watch movies! The customer service was terrible! No empathy and could careless that the experience was less than satisfying. Our money was wasted on this trip! Nothing really handicap friendly. Especially the ports! And if I had known kids were going to be everywhere I would have changed plans. Have to watch for kids cruise free next time! But I doubt there will be a next time! Way too costly for what you get! I was embarrassed by staff in front of other guests because I had a power strip in my suitcase. Did not know it was contraband. And then had to lug my suitcase up to room. They would not deliver it! Elevators were long to wait for! Communication was not the worst. Most of the crew could not speak good English to passengers. Embarkation and disembarkation went well. The ship definitely needs to be updated. Cabins look so outdated. This ship should not be rated as 4.5 stars. The most disturbing thing is that staff was very unhappy and not trying to please customers at all. This made my experience with RCL Adventures of the Sea very bad. I knew that their job is hard, working non-stop 11 hours a day and 7 days a week. However, they chose to work in a entertaining industry, they have to be positive and make people feel welcome and happy. I did not feel welcomed and happy to be on this ship. In addition, entertaining was as bland as the food in the buffet. Furthermore, my stomach could not handle their food despite of my world travelling experience and globally trying different food . I felt bloated and burped out the greasiness of the food everyday . Pasta and spaghetti were left on the warmer for so long that it felt like baby food, melting in your mouth and not "al dente" at all. In addition, cruisers use serving utensils and threw them back on the food with the dirty handles. I was very worried at this sight and luckily that there was nothing happened this time on the ship. Adding to the insult, dishes were not cleaned properly; stains and left over food were visible from the "clean" dishes and cups. It was not hygienic at all. Food in the dining is much better. However, I could not contact reservation in order to book for my time of choice unless I wanted to eat dinner at 9pm???. I saw a cleaning staff who was on the phone non stop. I meant non-stop every day. I do not think that I want to sail again with RCL again. Read Less

We had heard about RCCL and decided to try them. Very disappointed in EVERYTHING. Food was sub par, service extremely poor, friendliness of the crew and service staff. The dining room was a complete nightmare regarding food and service. Windjammer poor service, dishes sat on tables for 15 minutes and only removed when we called attention to the manager. I have been involved with McDonalds Restaurants for over 30 years and sent a letter to the president regarding Quality, Service, and Cleanliness and was given the "royal" brush off. My concerns were from an industry standpoint and it seemed like they really didn't care. The entertainment was awful and what little shows they had overlapped one another. It all seemed like a sideshow of numerous inane acts. We have cruised on other lines. We are not new to cruises. We were offered 20% off next cruise. Hardly warranting another trial. Read Less

Bed was very comfortable, rooms temperature controls worked very well. Beautiful dining room, 3 stories. Chef table. Food was very good, better than last year. Better beef (prime rib, steak, lobster). Breakfast had cook making fresh omelettes. Easy over eggs made to order, HOT and delicious. Great variety. Our stateroom toilet did not work for 4 days. Had to go down 2 floors to use the public restroom. Our stateroom phone did not work for 4 days. Glad we didn't have an emergency!! Extremely poor customer service from gentleman at desk regarding these issues. 150 words would not be enough to describe my dissatisfaction with how these issues were addressed, not to mention the poor quality of cleaning of our room.(and only 2 towel animals, which I line up on every cruise I am on and take a picture of them all on the last day. This is a petty thing I know but still worth mentioning) This ship is in need to attention. She is tired looking. She also needs more staffing to attend to the needs of her passengers and also the needs of her public areas. The women's restroom but the pool deck was especially horrible. On a positive note I enjoyed the entertainment provided on the ship. The cruise director was wonderful. The meals were very good and the main dining attendants were excellent. I was SO excited to book this cruise. My husband and I's first honeymoon was a disaster, so this was supposed to be a "make-up" honeymoon. This was almost worst than our first one. He had never been out of the country, so this was a big deal for him and I was so excited to travel with him, and this cruise quite literally embarrassed me!! I'm not even sure where to begin.... 1. FOOD IS HORRIBLE - The worst meals I have ever had. Windjammer buffet was disgusting, always the same exact choices. We got food poisoning two nights in a row from this place, so we tried Chops Grill. EVEN WORSE. $80 for rubbery tasteless steaks and a terrible waitress. Our best meal on this ship was Johnny Rockets, and that's SAD. Even there, the drains were having issues so there was dirty water all over the floors. The main dining room's food was below average. The steak had zero flavor and was clearly soaked in pepper to try to add to the taste. Nasty. We couldn't wait to get home and have a decent meal that didn't make us sick. 2. BAR SERVICE SLOW - 50 people in line for drinks and 2 bartenders working??? Ridiculous. We prepaid for our drink packages that included tips and stopped getting drinks two days into our cruise due to the slow service. It's not even worth it because by the time you get your second drink, the even little bit of a buzz you would get would be worn off. Not to mention there were only 3 bars...with over 3800 people... doesn't add up. 3. ROOM WAS GROSS - We were extremely appalled with the room in general. The stench was overbearing (and we couldn't even figure out what the smell was), old, musty, nasty! The bed was virtually useless. Lawn chairs by the pool were more comfortable. My back ached every morning from sleeping on a rock. Our toilet never flushed. Had to call maintenance within the first hour. Water in the room tasted foul and old, and warm. Had to go all the way to a bar to get a bottled water because I couldn't stand to drink it. I will say that our steward was awesome. Very friendly and attentive. But even he couldn't help make this room worth the money. 4. STAFF WAS UNFRIENDLY - Besides our steward and one of the bar staff by the pool. The staff never smiled, had rude responses, and acted superior to us if we had a question. Then they EXPECTED an additional tip. Ridiculously entitled. Made me not want to tip them at all! When we got off the ship in Puerto Rico, some man loaded our suitcases into a taxi (that is ALL he did), and demanded me to tip him!!! He put his hand out in front of my face and everything. He didn't even DO anything. We could have put our suitcases in the trunk by ourselves. This instantly turned me off about this city. 5. WINDY AND WAVY - I know this isn't the cruise ship's fault, just a warning to future cruisers that plan to go in February -- DON'T. The motion never ended and fellow cruisers were telling us that they had never seen it that bad before. It was SO windy, that my drink was literally blown out of my cup as I was walking back to my pool chair. 6. When getting off the boat in your last port, they designate specific times that you have to get off. People who book shore excursions with the ship get the priority and get to get off first - very unfair. I had booked an excursion outside of the ship and they would not honor it- so I had to cancel. We had to be out of our staterooms at 8am and could not get off the ship until 10:30, so many people were sitting there waiting doing nothing. Pools were closed. Bars were closed. We waited for hours with nothing to do...When we FINALLY got called to get off, our cards declined (the bank never put them through), but we went to guest services and paid it the night before and was told that we were "all set". WRONG. They wouldn't let us get off the ship until we went to guest services and fixed it. The line wrapped around the ship, we waited for over an hour. Take my advice, choose "cash" not "card" and pay your bill the night before so they have no reason to decline you. 7. PORTS WERE THE BEST PART - St. Thomas and St. Maarten were absolutely gorgeous (even despite just being put through multiple hurricanes). The locals here were so friendly and welcoming (a drastic change to the ship). We didn't want to get back on the boat. Next time, we will be booking a hotel and staying in one place. I have never wanted a vacation to be over. But after this, I couldn't wait to get home. Overall, it was a very poor experience. Most likely will not return to RC if we book another cruise. I hope this helps future cruisers. Read Less

We booked this cruise because we loved Royal Caribbean and all of our previous 5 cruises with them. This particular cruise was disappointing, to put it politely. Fellow cruisers were rude, obnoxious and, at times, out of control. Seasoned cruisers at our dining table made these same observations and, were discussing other cruise lines for their future cruise experiences. Entertainment was subpar from the “magician to the Beatles.” After the first two days of this cruise, we chose to eat only in the main dining room as the Windjammer was full of the same rude behavior that was exhibited throughout this ship, from the guest hallways to the main pool area. Take my advice and pick another cruise line and a much different port to depart. We enjoyed our cabin steward and our dinner waitress. The bartender in the adult only pool area was also exceptional. We chose to do no shore excursions and chose to stay on the ship and enjoy it while other guests disembarked. That was the best part of our day. Read Less

I always read bad reviews thinking that that person must always be angry or hard to please and I truly never thought I would ever have to write one. Unfortunately, the ship and level of service were just in too bad of condition to not speak up. Below are some selected items I wanted to review: Overall cleanliness of the ship was poor. Furniture was very worn and the carpet has possibly never been changed. Almost every window was dirty. It might sound petty, but these are the kinds of things that make you feel like you are on a B class ship. Service was definitely lacking. Snail pace dining room service for breakfast and dinner. Most crew were seemingly not happy or interested in being there. I'm sure that many of the crew were fantastic, but I can only speak to the ones I came in contact with. Several bartenders were great especially in the Schooner bar and off the Promenade. Bussers in the Windjammer were very nice as well. Our floor (8th) and stateroom smelled like a gym locker room and our stateroom attendant only did the bare minimum in cleaning and communicating. Blood stains on sheets and pillow cases, tears in the bed sheets, wet bed sheets (no luck with sheets as you can tell) mold in the shower, tea colored hot water from sink just to list a few instances of the quality of stateroom. I purchased the romance package (champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, rose petals and a card) which was supposed to be in the room before we arrived as a surprise for my wife, but instead there was a note stating they could not satisfy the order because they were out of roses and wanted to know if I still wanted the romance package. My wife read the note and therefore surprise was blown. Just make a decision and deliver the champagne and chocolate covered strawberries! Dining room had poor service and seemed a bit chaotic. My wife would order dishes marked gluten-free only to be told thirty minutes later they were not gluten-free. This happened the first half of the trip until we started eating in the Windjammer. The dinning room food was good, but the Windjammer was actually better. We were pleasantly surprised by the Windjammer all week for breakfast, lunch and dinner and did not have to worry about the slow service. Giovanni's table was outstanding and gets high marks for food and service. Entertainment was lacking, but that doesn't weigh too heavily in our review. Schooner bar had the best entertainment of the trip. Piano player, instrumental guitar, trivia, etc. Ports of call are a mixed bag. Reviews as follows: St. Kitts - $60 round trip cab ride for two to an OK beach. Relaxing, but not much going on there. Antigua - we did the catamaran and Lobster lunch which is a must! Excellent excursion. Martinique - nothing much to do within close proximity to the ship. Wouldn't recommend getting off the ship. St. Lucia - COSOL tours excursion was wonderful. It's a full day but you get to see all of this beautiful island and are well fed and liquored up with rum punch. Highly recommended. Barbados - Beach hop Island style was very nice. I recommend that excursion or just driving over to Carlisle Bay for the whole day. You can't go wrong with a Barbados beach and the locals are super friendly. Most the ports were stellar which really made the trip. I just feel like Royal Caribbean pairs this ship with great ports to offset the poor conditions. I highly recommend Antigua, St. Lucia and Barbados, but can't recommend you get there on this ship. Read Less

This was my "BIG 60" birthday cruise and honestly I thought that it would have been cancelled due to "foreseen" bad weather conditions. I picked this particular cruise because 1) I would be on the ship on my birthday 2) I don't like being on the water constantly (port stops are very important to me) 3) I have always preferred Royal Caribbean cruises until now. The food was excellent, activities weren't much, service was patronizing, some people you could tell were just going-through-the-motions, my cabin was average, I got locked out and waited nearly 1/2 hour to be let in, entertainment was wavering, some funny comedians caught my attention, but that was about it. I was thoroughly disgusted and disappointed.#stillam The cruise was not cancelled even though they knew the storm was coming and we were on the water quite a bit. I did not see any of the ports I chose, and I had to pay a WHOLE lot of money for this cruise trying to make it special for my birthday. DIDN'T HAPPEN!!! Other than Christmas, this is the only other time I celebrate big! So I REALLY needed it to be special...DIDN'T HAPPEN!!! I haven't heard a word back for the Cruise line although I have been sending emails and trying to contact them. My cruise was in September 2017, It's now February 2018. Shame on ya'll treating people this way. You could at lease respond!! Totally disgusted and disappointed Read Less

Because after several times cruising in the Caribbean we had not visited these islands in the Southern Caribbean. Also we were on a cruise in June 2017, with Royal Caribbean in Alaska, and booked this cruise. The cruise was scheduled to depart from Puerto Rico on the 16th of September. Days before the hurricane IRMA brushed Puerto Rico. We could see by the weather forecasts that Maria was forming in the Atlantic. We asked Royal Caribbean if we could cancel. The answer was NO. IRMA hit ST. Martin. That port was than taken off the cruise ports itinerary. I understand that decision. So now we are on the cruise and heading straight towards Hurricane Maria. Most passengers are concerned. Not a very good way to spend a vacation. The Captain was great in letting the passengers know of the situation. But that caused more anxiety with passengers. Now we are told that we we be arriving at St, Kitts, but only for fuel and supplies. We can't get off the ship and must leave in just 4 hours to race away from the hurricane. Full day and a half no sailing to Aruba and BonAire. 800 miles out of our way. Next day sailing until 3pm. Arrive at Aruba and now will stay overnight. No excursions planned or researched by us, so not really enjoyable as planned and paid for a different trip. Leave for Bonaire and start to hear about the damage from Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico (this is the port we are suppose to return to on Saturday). We are now told that we will not be able to return to Puerto Rico and must dock in Florida. All travel plans such as airfare, car rentals, hotel reservations etc. must be changed. Also we will have to be on the cruise for an extra day. I have been on 13 cruises and this was the worst by far. Royal Caribbean will not refund or compensate for any of the cruise. I understand that it was not RCI's fault but it was also not our fault. We should share in the financial loss. Read Less

Some way we did not go to any of the ports on our schedule, because of Hurricane Maria. We paid for 6 we got 3. The real problem is that there were no options presented. Some of the wait staff were so busy having fun they ignored the guests. (Most were nice, friendly and accommodating though) The Flowrider was the best part of the experience. Alexandra and Levi and the rest of the team Scott, Joao the Ukranian and Romanian were delightful. These guys were patient. They worked with each person individually. The entire line was also encouraging to people participating on the thing. I'm surprised more people did not take advantage. Don't cruise with 3 with a balcony. The 3rd bed is hard as a rock. You'll have back problems. The shower head was great though. The shower is a bit tiny. As far as the food goes it's okay. But the best night was Caribbean night with oxtails, jerk chicken, peas and rice. Read Less

Sorry but no....the guests did NOT all agree. We had no choice but to go - Largely a "plug" for Royal and a complete write off. They had other ships from those cancelled cruises that could have come and taken an entire boat full of people. The supply they dropped was a JOKE. Our itinerary was changed before cruising to an overnight in Aruba, no St. Maartin. Ok, not a problem and we scheduled things to do that night and an excursion on the second Aruba day. We were checked in, on board, when the captain said there's a "slight" change. Going to St. Maartin, not spending the night in Aruba and Bonaire is changed to the last day. THERE WAS NOTHING SLIGHT ABOUT THAT CHANGE AND NOT ACCEPTABLE AFTER I'M CHECKED IN. People all over were rushing to cancel/change plans and excursions. Dropping down to the carpet with credit cards in hand hoping to get phone connection. I will never sail with them again. One of the pools was broke for a day, elevator was broke, air system broke in the promenade, buffet was gross (and I'm NOT a picky eater) and a good portion shows visible rust. Today I called to ask if what Royal is doing about this problem. - Bottom line, I missed a day, in (or not in) St. Maartin. The lady answering left me believe she had NO CLUE what I was talking about and said there's nothing in the system for compensation. I've been on about 15 cruises and I WILL AVOID this line if I can. One last thing. There were places that were GROSS. I celebrated a 40th birthday, had a bottle of champagne and a cigar from Cuba. The smoking table where we sat was disgusting, ALL AROUND US. Bottles, butts, wrappers, glasses, etc. I NEVER would see that on Celebrity!! Read Less
