This is my second, and most likely last NCL cruise. The first was the Pride of America in Hawaii. It was fantastic. I can't say enough good stuff about it. This Alaska cruise, completely opposite. I have been on 4 Caribbean cruises with Carnival and will go again in January.
We, 3 adults ages from 45 to 65, took the land and sea tour. Land tour gets all stars. Sea, not so much. It started ...
We chose Norwegian because of the limited choices of ships going our direction in our time limit in Alaska, offer of premium food/drink package, and opportunity for excursions. However, we will NEVER RECOMMEND THEM AS A VACATION CRUISE LINE!
1. The Ports of call Itinerary changed 3 weeks in advance. We found out via another company. We called Norwegian to confirm, and they lied to us. ...
Not sure why I chose Norwegian. I had only sailed on Carnival and really wanted to try another one. The views from our cabin AFT 9278 were spectacular. Whales, iceburgs, otters, eagles. You could not ask for better.
BUT - the food was nothing special. Yes, there is a lot of it. There was nothing that I could rave about. They had several specialty restaurants, that we didn't try. After ...
There were 9 people in my traveling party. We chose Norwegian because they offered a decent price for the cruise that we were interested in taking. We also liked the idea of not having a formal night as we knew that we were already going to have to pack heavy for Alaska. We had four cabins all together, three of which were mini suites. Although I had never sailed with Norwegian before, I was ...
To sum it up, this cruise was truly overrated. My family has been on cruises with this company three times, and this Alaskan cruise was definitely the worst. The ship kept breaking down, and we would be stuck in on the boat in one location for hours at a time. To top it off, we even missed one of the major highlights of the whole cruise; Skagway. And they only notified us about this change the day ...
I chose this cruise to see the beauty of Alaska and a lot of wildlife. I saw some of each. but two glitches made this a bad first cruise. 1) At the last minute our itinerary was changed. As a result, I missed Skagway and my excursion through the Yukon Territory. As you may know, the Sun has a smell problem in the aft, and the ship had to switch a stop to Sitka in order to repair the water treatment ...
The time we could travel corresponded to this Alaska trip, thus we were booked on the Sun. After we were booked I read several reviews some of which were favorable and some less so. Some mentioned a smell of sewage. I must report that there was a smell of sewage in our bathroom that persisted throughout the week. (We had a can of air freshener that made the situation more tolerable.).

We were originally supposed to take a two week Mediterranean cruise on NCL, but with recent events, we decided to change it to a land tour/cruise in Alaska. We had been to Alaska a number of years ago, but wanted to go back.
First the land tour. The land tour basically consisted of bus riding and train riding. 95% of the trip I would say. Didn't really get to see Fairbanks, or Anchorage. ...
We were amazed at the size of the inner stateroom we had. On the 9th deck, it had a king sized bed, a full sized sofa (that could be converted to a double bed), 2 closets, 2 sets of drawers. So much room we even had a place to put our suitcases away and out of our paths. Since this was one of NCL's smaller ships the food choices, although good, were a little bit more limited but we each gained ...
This was my very first cruise. I live in Florida so pretty much everybody I know has been on cruises. Nobody really recommended NCL. Ultimately, I chose this particular cruise based on price and departure port.
I didn't have the highest or greatest expectations. I just wanted to see Alaska and did not care too much about the cruise details. I did not expect a party cruise (I don't imagine ...
