This was our first time cruising so we really had no idea what to expect. We chose NCL because they offered the Denali land tour. We chose to park at SEATAC and take a shuttle to Vancouver.
i will try to break my review into sections:
My husband and I booked this cruise for our honeymoon and found a good deal on it through USAA. For a first time cruiser I found many things that I enjoyed and some that were not my favorite.
-Very friendly staff
This cruise was picked by a travel agent. We found some really good wait staff, but most were not good at all. Some bars we could to get waited on at all. We sat in the aSports bar for 10 minutes with wait staff walking passed us or ...
Crew and staff were very friendly and helpful throughout the cruise. We enjoyed the band "Innovations" and danced the night away with guest and some crew members. Enjoyed other Entertainment and Stage shows... Met some ...

Debarkation: Vancouver, Canada
Ports: Icy Straight Point, Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan

As this was our first cruise, I did some research and had some concern; hidden charges, draconian rules that some lines impose, and being swamped with thousands of people on the ship and ashore None of these turned out to be a problem on ...
We spent the night prior to departure at the Accent Inn Vancouver, had to be at the airport at 4 am and the shuttle was ready for us and got us there early. We flew Vancouver to Seattle to Anchorage on Alaska Air and then we took 5 days ...
We have always wanted to see Alaska and this was a great way to do it. We had great weather, better than even we had hoped for, so it did add to the experience.
This is 5th cruise and 3rd on NCL. We had a balcony, cannot imagine this ...
Long story short, while I had fun on this cruise, the lack of enjoyable activities on the ship and constant presence of sales pitches makes me feel no desire to ever book with NCL again.
Cabin: Nice. Small room, but organized well ...
My husband and I live in NW Washington and try to cruise to Alaska if we can swing it every summer, usually in early June. I booked this cruise on the Sun over 1.5 years out because we wanted to try an aft balcony, and I think we are now ...
Love Alaska cruising. Convenient departure from Vancouver. Bright clean ship (although some threadbare carpet) with friendly, happy staff. Food was as good as on any of the 20 ships be have sailed, but the entertainment was abysmal. No ...
We are one of those lucky one who have been cruising since 2003, 10+ more weeks visits of Alaskan ports, 5 weeks on Norwegian Sun. Now you know why we were not excited about this trip.
Cruising is about having a good time meeting ...
We chose this cruise because we have never been to Alaska and this cruise offered additional stops in British Columbia at Prince Ruprt and Nanaimo. There were 8 ports of call so we knew we would have the opportunity to see a lot. We ...
We chose this cruise for the opportunity to see San Francisco and Vancouver with extra days of travel at both ends of an Alaskan cruise and were not disappointed. The Sun is a beautiful yet small ship with a great crew and staff. As ...
Alaska was a lifelong dream. The ports were good; weather unpredictable (it was, after all, Alaska in May). Icy Strait Point was our favorite! Not touristy and saw dozens of whales. We loved Skagway and Sitka.
Our ship was another ...
The NCL Sun is fighting the aging of the seas quite well. Public areas are kept up to high standards, though some might consider them dated. Cabins, quite the opposite. The dating shows, and only major remodeling will fix some of the ...
Had been to Alaska before (Princess) and wanted to go again. Booked this cruise on Norwegian because it was longer then Princess and less expensive. Now I know why its less expensive, because you get less. It starts with boarding in San ...
This was a 14 day NCL cruise to Alaska. The Norwegian Sun is one of the smallest NCL ships and I really enjoyed not being so overwhelmed by crowds both on and off the ship. The Sun visited several ports I'd not visited on my two previous ...
We joined the ship at San Francisco for the Alaska cruise and in spite of having an arrival at the pier time we had to queue for about forty five minutes outside the terminal. Being a hot day I was not too happy about this. Once inside the ...
The overall cruise can be regarded as average.
Positive points :
Entertainment : excellent shows, presentations and overall activities throughout the cruise
Cabin service : the cabin steward kept very clean all the time.
The crew is very professional and accommodating. A few of the ship's interior spaces have recently been updated but the overwhelming majority of restaurants and bars are very worn and are in much need of modernization.
While much of ...
We thought the value was good for a 20 day cruise and haven't been to some of the ports in Chile, Peru, etc. The itinerary was great. Ending in San Francisco was a real treat for us to explore wine country. The balcony cabin was nice ...
This was our sixth cruise on NCL and by far the longest at 20 days travelling as it did all the way from the port of San Antonio, Chile to San Francisco, CA, a distance of over 6,000 nautical miles aboard the Norwegian Sun, one of their ...
Interesting route up the west coast of South America, really enjoyed crossing the equator.
Great ports to visit and arriving under the golden gate bridge is historic for me. Thecship was old but in great shape however the food was ...
