They say that there's no such thing as a bad cruise. You're not at work. You're healthy and fortunate enough to afford such a luxury. But there are levels to these things. In case you don't want to read a novel here's the summary: Come with realistic expectations. There's a reason Disney and Virgin Voyages charge a premium. There's a reason Carnival doesn't, particularly on this ship. Walmart or worse quality of service in most areas. We had a great time but the deficiencies in operations, maintenance and staff were glaring. Bottom line- you get what you pay for. Overall I would have traded the balcony room on this ship/cruise and paid the same for interior on NCL or Royal and had a higher quality experience. The affordability of this cruise opens up cruising to a lot of folks, and that's wonderful. Unfortunately the bad experience may leave anyone with an actual option of who to cruise with to never willingly coming back. For some background we've sailed Carnival before and also, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian and Disney. My wife and our 10-year-old daughter stayed in an AFT extended balcony room on the 7th deck and were on the 4 night Caribbean to Key West and Cozumel. We'll start with the positive and go downhill from there. The Best Hunter Deblanc at Piano Bar. Hands down, most entertained I've ever been. We're from Vegas. We have no shortage of fun places and entertaining things to do. Hunter was biggest highlight of this cruise. If I we were on the fence between two cruises in future and he were on one of them, I'd pick that one. He's that good. Not your mother's piano guy. At least not after 1030pm. Extra awesome was the fact that he was making extra sure that the server Suresh was being taken care of and treated well by patrons. Outstanding in every way. The Pretty Darn Good Gym. Overwhelmed. Clean. Well stocked and exceeded expectation. Sauna being free, albeit aged, was also a plus. Adult's only deck area was nice and enjoyable, when the slide line wasn't full of kids that is. Above Par- Oswi & Ace our servers on our next to last night were the only meal time service that was above par. They were excellent. Everyone else was Walmart or worse. These guys stood out like a sore thumb they were so good and attentive. More Oswi's and Ace's and this cruise is a different level. My wife had two treatments at the Spa and said both technicians were excellent, particularly the massage therapist The Ok- Food options. For the price, the options of food was good. Not necessarily the quality, but the options were better than expected. Mind boggling Who puts a small sushi car next to the bar in a smokey casino?! The freshest, cleanest food available (for a $ too) and you stick it in an ash tray? We would have gotten sushi if it were anywhere else on the ship. Terrible decision. Busy lunch time as port time ended in Key West and there's one person at the very popular Pizza Pirate. A line of 10-15 people, myself included waited for 15 minutes without the lone employee so much as saying a word. A simple "I'll be with you as soon as possible" would have done wonders. This is the Walmart level stuff that was evident throughout the ship. The Bad Balcony glass was filthy. Like nasty. Beautiful ocean view only to be ruined by being seen through nasty, grimy lenses. Total shame. Curtains had holes and various questionable stains. Coffee, maybe a little blood. Who knows but they were nasty and since we had a balcony we saw the dirty curtains every time we stepped in/out to look at the dirty glass... I mean nice view. The Worse In hindsight I wish I would have said something at the time. After boarding we were waiting in Camp Ocean for our daughter to check it out and some middle aged white corporate lady with a British accent was belittling a camp employee. She made a comment about Carnival being a multi million dollar company while criticizing the employee. First off, you're saying that to a person making very little money during 9 month tour. Secondly, I've never reprimanded a subordinate in public. Doing what she did in front of customers who could clearly hear was very unprofessional. Left me with bad taste in my mouth. Read Less

A lot of staff members gave us wrong information. We paid for FTTF but were told to get in the regular line when boarding. After boarding, we were supposed to have immediate access to our room, but there were signs on the doors saying, "Do not enter. Rooms available at 1:30." I went to guest services and spoke to 3 different people explaining that I had FTTF and was supposed to be able to access my room. They didn't seem to know what I was talking about and kept repeating that my room would be available at 1:30. As a 1st time cruiser, I read all of the dress code rules for dinner and packed accordingly. However, the dress code rules are not enforced in the dining room at all. Most people had on flip flops, slides, tshirts, and basketball shorts. When I asked on the 1st night, i was told that it was because people hadn't received their luggage. However, people were dressed the same on the other nights, too. I could've saved a lot of room in my suitcase if I'd known. The safety briefing was also very stressful because no one could tell us where to go. We asked multiple crew members and was told something different each time. We went upstairs and then downstairs and then back up over and over again. Massage in the spa - don't waste your money. We were told no couple massages. My husband's massage room had no windows for views of the ocean. My room was right next to the hair salon, so the noise from hair dryers and people talking was not relaxing at all. The package included a mini facial but was told I had to receive it at the same time as the massage. Due to our assigned dinner time, I didn't have time for the facial and was not given any other option. Read Less

Have cruised Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian lines. To start off with we arrived early to board only to find mass confusion and long lines. We arrived at about 11:30 and did not get on board until close till 3:00. We then attempted to get some lunch after boarding but lines for the buffet were absolutely horrible.... If there was communication in regards to why such late boarding we did not hear or get it. Our frig never worked, even though we continuously asked about getting a different one. I had beers and water delivered so that we could enjoy a few drinks in our room but we could never get them cold... Our bathroom seemed to not have gotten cleaned because of the hair on the floor in the sink and in the shower. Super disgusting.. The remote for the TV also only worked after continuously pressing the buttons, removing batteries ect... when we asked about it we were told that it really wasn't the right remote that is why it didn't work correctly. um ok The food was probably the biggest disappointment. Of the cruises that we have taken I have never had such low quality food. Our evening dinners were NEVER even warm... and we are not that picky of eaters but even the buffet food was difficult to find something warm. We did like the fresh omelette station which doubled as a sandwich stop during the day too. The hamburgers were good also. But we did not go on a cruise to eat hamburgers.... We met several other couples that expressed the same feelings about the food. If I would have found a review previously on this I probably would not have selected this ship. As of now I would not ever go on another Carnival line cruise. Read Less

Going to list the overall cruise in sections: 1. Day 1 (Disembark) – Cruise launch was great no complaints. 2. Day 2 (Fun At Sea) – Nothing to say about this day. 3. Day 3 (Half Moon Cape) - I woke up by a loud banging and power drill noise from Deck 0 where the ship crew stay around 7 – 7:30 AM in the morning and continued throughout the day. Dismissed it because we had a good time Half-Moon Cape. Went to the service desk kiosk to check our sail & sign cards balance for our cabin and found a unannounced “Gratitude” fee for each person in the room which came out to $108 dollars. Talked with the service desk crew in this order: 1. First person we talked to mentioned that we had to pay this because the whole crew gets this tip (not true) for services rendered. 2. Second and last person helped us remove the charge entirely from our cabin. This shouldn’t take two attempts to remove this charge including if you’re already tipping the crew via cash already. 4. Day 4 (Nassau) – My wife and myself were both woke up by the loud bagging around 6:30 AM and I was not happy with this. Called room service about it and they said they will investigate it. Within a couple of minutes, I hear the intercom go off about two or three times for only the crew to hear without waking up all the guests on the ship and the noise stopped. Few minutes after that the room service manager came to the door wanted to investigate the room for the noise, told her that it already stopped and asked her if she called somebody about it because after a few minutes I got off the phone with her the noise stopped. She didn’t answer my question and said “Sir, it’s impossible for the crew to be working at 6:30 AM because they start working at 8 AM” and left which made me very not happy. Some time in the afternoon she called us back and said she was sorry about what we went through and gave us six $10 coupons for buying drinks which was nice, so we let it go. Nassau was a big disappointment since it’s all about shopping here or going to the amusement water park so didn’t have much relaxation or fun on this one. 5. Day 5 (Miami) – At 5:45 AM we got the loud noise once again which woke us up yet again. My wife was very angry and started stomping on the floor to make them stop which they did for a bit, but they started again in short multiple bursts so we couldn’t sleep at all. Got off the ship very tired. Overall – It was fun for a couple of days up to the Half Moon Cape but after that it was poor experience. Also, Randy Rose (Director of Entertainment) really needs to not reuse the same songs\ dancing routines in the Disembark Party & Nassau - Mega party…FYI…CHANGE IT UP. Another advise Randy, don’t dance in front of the guests while they’re getting off the ship on the last day from the long trip, the rest of the crew is maintaining a professional atmosphere saying goodbye to everyone except for yourself. We chose this cruise as it was reasonably priced to book. We took 7 other younger couples, many of whom were 1st time cruisers. The positives...most of the working staff are positive, energetic, enthusiastic, and service minded. The cabins were comfortable. The excursions were easy to book. Excursions taken by our group were very positive. Boarding and departure were simple. The food was plentiful and most of it...tasty. The onboard entertainment was good. The gimmicky raffles were fun even though they clearly existed to encourage you to spend more money. The negatives...most in our group purchased the premium internet package prior to boarding. It was useless. Everyone we spoke with said the same. And...forget about getting a refund. Customer service would NOT refund internet packages despite its clearly being an unacceptable service level. We purchased the ‘bottomless bubbles’ package prior to boarding. However, the staff has to swipe your card and you have to sign for every soft drink you ‘purchase’...which is a hassle. The bigger hassle was on the second day when they refused to serve us despite having paid for the service prior to the cruise. Reason? ... the credit card used to purchase all items prior to the cruise had to be re-swiped for all on cruise purchases...soft drinks included. Sure wish someone...anyone...told us this! After our 3rd visit to customer service, and waiting in the time consuming line, we then had to deal with an unpleasant and uncooperative customer service rep who rudely shared with us that we were the problem, not them. So...we decided it was time to share our experience with his boss, the customer service manager. She was delightful, empathetic and aware this was a frequent Carnival “problem”. Her ‘service recovery’ efforts were marginal, but because she was pleasant and professional, we let it go. Be prepared to spend far more than the cost of the cruise as nearly everything except the basic food/dinner costs extra. Seasoned cruisers know this. It was disappointing that so much nickel and diming goes on beyond the base cost of the cruise. Read Less

Most hot tubs and the better pool didn’t allow under 18. The ones that did were packed and unappealing. You get what you pay for (and less). Extra Charge for WiFi which doesn’t work. Pray there’s no emergency because muster drill unorganized, held on loud cramped deck so you can see or hear anything. Fitness center dark and weird, felt like you were working out inside a UFO. Cabins were comfortable enough, sit down dinner food not bad and waitstaff nice. Only other cruise I have been on was a Disney one which I now see was way worth the cost. No comparison between the two. While nothing terrible went wrong couldn’t wait to get of this boat- better to pay for higher end boat or cruise line for sure. Read Less

Missed our flight after an 8 hour delay with no apologies or compensation, disgusting! This is how a corporate company treats it's customers? Sad. We incurred $1000 extra of expenses for this and I would think twice about sailing Carnival ever again! The ship was chaos trying to get a phone line or internet, never did. Most people very upset as family and friends were waiting in Miami not knowing where the ship was or what happened. Carnival needs to do the right thing and offer each person on that cruise 50% off their next cruise otherwise people will think twice about cruising Carnival again. Everything else on the ship was great, sad they treated people like that on the last day. Condolences to the family of the deceased passenger. Customer service on the ship was very poor with regards to this incident. Not even sure why ship went back when the Coast guard was handling the situation. Room and dining service was good, liked the new menu. Cruise was good up until the last night. Read Less

Both my friend and I wanted to get away for a few days and saw a great deal with Carnival and jumped on it. Being that we both have sailed on Carnival before and enjoyed our time, we were definitely looking forward to our upcoming trip. Trip day finally arrived, got on ship and was given wrong information about bag tags, checking in and was told to go have lunch.. it ends at 3:30pm. We got to the buffet at 3:05pm and was told it was closed and will reopen for after embarkation. We were soooo disappointed because we were starving after the early start of the day we had. We got to the area of embarkation meet up and the Carnival reps. Seemed to be confused of where people should be lining up. We were given our location and stood there for close to 40mins. During that 40mins it was hot, confined and noisey. Being on the ship before the embarkation procedure ran a lot more smoother than how it was being done on this ship. I asked one of the reps why they changed how they did things they told us that it’s always been this way. A few of us that had been on before told her no.... we were in a bigger area. The area was so hot and confined that someone fainted and had to get medical attention. If you are a foodie... this cruise is not for you. The buffet did not have variety and food was tasteless. Sit down dinner was the same. Service took forever to bring your courses out. Ship was extremely cold. Pack a sweater or jacket. Only positive, met a few workers that we will never forget with heatring their stories about life. Again, very disappointed with Carnival. This is our third time and will be our last. Read Less

We booked this cruise after talking to a travel agent and weighing options. I have three children- 10 years, 7 and 1. We wanted something family friendly as we were traveling with a one year old. My kids love to swim, even the 1 year old and we knew we would spend our time at the pools and hot tubs. Well we learned when it was too late that if your kid is not potty trained they cannot go in the pools- even in a swim diaper! This was strictly enforced and the life guards stopped us before we could get in the water on day one. There were NO activities for our one year old. There was a playground he could play on but wasn’t made for kids younger than 5. He obviously played on it but we had to watch him to make sure he didn’t fall off the sides. The location of the playground was tough as it was on the side of the ship and windy which made it cold. Basically our family was divided the entire time as my husband and I had to take turns walking the baby around inside because our baby would cry if he saw water and wanted to get it and couldn’t. We spent a lot of time walking up and down stairs as my one year old found that amusing. We were able to do a Dr Seuss read along play that lasted 30 minutes maybe. There was baby sitting offered but for added money only and honestly I just spent a ton of money getting on the cruise and wasn’t going to pay more for him to sit in a room with someone he didn’t know and honestly this was supposed to be a family trip where we are together doing stuff! There was a kids playroom for kids to play that were signed up for their camp program and I asked if I could take my baby in there and stay and play with him and they told me no I couldn’t do that. I asked for options for him then as he couldn’t swim and couldn’t be in the playroom and they told me there weren’t any options. There were staff on the ship that didn’t know babies couldn’t enter the pool yet when I questioned the policy and why it wasn’t advertised better and the answer I kept getting was it was in the contract. Obviously fine print as many staff didn’t even know! My 10 and 7 year old had a good time as they swam literally as much as possible. They went to the night club once but mostly they wanted to swim so I can’t say too much about those services. One mom I did talk to said she was disappointed with the kids program as they didn’t take them to the pool to swim, just inside activities and her kids liked being outside. There was a walking track and shuffle board but it was at the back of the ship near the smoke exhaust and that didn’t seem like the best lay out. The kids club area and arcade were also located poorly where you had to walk through the casino and smoke to get there. The rooms were bigger than we thought they would be- the beds were comfy and the food was good. Staff were super nice. They kept things very clean. If we didn’t have small children I would rate this cruise higher but I feel completely mislead and taken advantage of. I believe it’s poor business practice knowing the ages of the people signing up and not going over the restrictions for those kids ahead of time. I don’t want another family to go through what we did! Wait until your kids are older before you book! Read Less

The crew is friendly but rather unhelpful, they never clarified any instructions and I was offered a drink maybe once in my several days by the pool. There was no one out taking drink orders and bringing drinks. The food at the formal dining was not great, and even upon sitting at the bar my younger sister tried to get the crews attention for over 30 minutes. I’m addition when we made it to our second stop we originally were told we could get off at 11, well going through customs has people still on the boat it’s alrwady 2 o’clock. Originally they also said we didn’t have to be back on the hot until 8, that has also been moved up until 6:30. This is the most unruly cruise I’ve ever been on, people are missing their excursions they paid hundreds of dollars for, and frankly it isn’t even worth it to get off the boat anymore. Simply ridiculous. All of this said, we were looking for a cheaper cruise but I feel even for the price it wasn’t worth it. Read Less

From the moment I stepped off the plane to check in for Carnaval transportation, Georgia, the lady that checked me in had an attitude. The fun did not start there. When I finally got on the ship I went right to the bar and sat there for 15 minutes while I was ignored by the bartenders. The fun did not start there. I flagged down a bartender and got a drink and started checking out the ship. None of the people that were working on the ship seemed very friendly. There were no Smiles. The atmosphere was not what I thought it would be. Waiters were very attentive until they found out we had the cheers package. Then we were ignored. If you chose to eat somewhere else other than during your dining time, the food at the buffett was poor quality. The little restaurants around served very little food and if you wanted something to eat that was a little more quality you paid extra for it. I was with friends that smoked so we sat in the smoking section a lot. You are very lucky to get waited on there. It was very difficult to find any waiters. When I finally did find one I asked if we could have music and we were told smoking section does not have music. OK then. I loved my excursion and that is why I gave this review two stars. Read Less

"VIP" excursions that were touted as small groups and a great learning experience but if you're a shopper, this isn't for you...the "small" group was one of dozens, we were given very little time to explore, they were so overwhelmed that the guides couldn't keep the undisciplined children from throwing rocks at the iguanas. the guide hawked stuff on the way out, the vendors at the site hawked crap, the return ride? Yet more junk hawked at us. The entertainment was so-so. The best of them was the magician. He was truly entertaining. The food was so-so, and I'm not a foodie. I want to start with the praises because the list is shorter. I loved our steward on the 10th floor although I didn't see him as frequently as stewards on previous cruises. I think they seemed short-staffed. He was sweet to replenish the ice in my husband's beer bucket without our asking. That was kind. I liked one of the comedians. I think Cee Cee was his name. Although his R rated show should have been an X. I couldn't imagine taking my 18 year old daughter in there but he was funny. The other guy was ok. I think his name was BT or something but he engaged too much with audience members doing improv more than sticking with a skit. Loved the gym. Descent, modern equipment with a great view and never had to wait to use anything. Usually just a few people in there. The process of loading and unloading passengers went smoothly and our waiter at dinner was nice too. This is where my compliments stop. I get that it is impossible for there to not be some glitches but having to turn off plumbing in the middle of the night was a hassle. The smell of smoke walking through the casino was disgusting. Need better filters. The piano bar guy sucked. That has always been my favorite part of the cruise. In the past, the piano guys were so engaging. This guy got off course, only took requested if you tipped, would say he would play certain songs and never play them, and instead would play weird "non piano bar songs". No one stayed longer than one or two songs. There was never more than 10people in there. The waiter took my husband's half full beer when he went to restroom and refused to replace it. The food gets worse and worse each cruise. It's obvious they are cutting corners on a lot over the years. I don't think I took more than a couple of bites of any of my food. The sandwich wraps from deli were edible (hard to ruin) and the fish tacos at cantina were descent. The pizza sucked. I even was disappointed this time in Guys burgers. The dining room was horrible. Every entree, side, desert or appetizer was mediocre at best. I tried to avoid the buffets because some patrons act like it's a competitive sport and it's like Survivor: The Golden Corral Buffet. I kind of get PTSD with some neanderthals acting like they have never eaten or will never eat again. Seems more and more family reunion situations which is fine I guess but it sucks when an entire family camps out in certain sections like the pool, hot tub, etc and they act like they are the only ones there, yelling at the top of their lungs being obnoxious. The walls are paper thin. We were under the gym. Not sure if we heard weights being dropped all night or what but it was noisy. I wish there was a way to put noisy party animals on one floor, and people who respect their neighbors all on one floor. It sucks when either the Captain, staff, or neighbors are all taking turns making noise. I think they have cut back on a lot. They charge now for room service after 10 pm and all the "upgrades" we would get are gone. They also seem short staffed. In the theater, a waiter was ignoring us trying to get his attention so other customers had to point us out. I was bummed because we wanted to take advantage of being one of the few left on the ship after docking in Mexico. I went to hot tub, it was cold. Went to steam room and sauna, turned off. I guess they shut these things down in Port. The floors of the lido deck and the attached dining area were always wet. I lost count of how many people I saw fall. I have bad knees and ankles so I walk especially careful and slow and I slid a lot. Even saw an elderly guy in a wheelchair fall and there wasn't a staff member anywhere. My husband had to flag him down. All in all, u get what u pay for. Some people probably really get their money's worth. For families on a budget, it's a deal. U get your lodging, food, transportation and entertainment. Our teens have always enjoyed all the activities in the teen club but my husband and I would never step foot on this ship if it was just us. Read Less

My family and I were apart of a 3 day cruise to the Bahamas traveling with a party of 65 people. My husband and I along with my 11 year old son and mother in law joined us. Let me first start out by stating that me, husband and son have cruised before on the Disney Dream several times. I must say that you get what you pay for. I talked my husband into going knowing his only point of reference for cruising is on the Disney Cruise Line. In my earlier years (20's), I've traveled on the Carnival Cruise before and I must tell you, I think that experience was far better back then. The embarkation was smooth however the one representative that I encountered was not as friendly and appeared to be very upset that our boarding documents were printed on the front and back of the paper. This was a huge no..no! I was scolded for that and had to wait in line while she printed a new ticket for me. Once that was done, we proceeded to board the ship. It was smooth sailing after that. While on the ship, we arrived to our cabin at 1:30pm. We had a balcony view cabin. We didn't enjoy it much because the windows of the balcony was so cloudy and dirty, we couldn't really get a good view of the beautiful ocean and sites. We stood up most of the time looking over the cloudy window. We could tell that they didn't clean the windows nor did they clean the floor of the balcony due to the accumulation of dirt in the corners of the balcony floor. Our bed was a King size bed that was pretty comfortable until I rolled into the center and felt the crease. I then realized that I was sleeping on two twin beds pushed together. That tells me that the lining used on the bed was either thin or missing. I made sure not to roll in the center of the bed avoiding the crease in the center. Our cabin steward was very nice and kept our room clean. I never complained to him or anyone on the boat as I didn't want to appear to be a cruise snob. The dining was nice, food was good not great. Waiters were nice and accommodating. I came down for dinner once, and I didn't have a good experience so I opted to have dinner in other places on the boat. Entertainment and activities for children were lack luster. My son begged me not to leave him in camp carnival as I had him registered. My son is 11 years old and when we arrived to camp carnival, we saw a few dinosaurs and lock blocks on the floor. Some monitors with no wifi and a few children younger than his age group. He slightly tugged at my shirt and gave me the look and I read his lips...PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ME HERE!. I knew why and we left. Carnival should have more activities and things to do for that age group. The Entertainment for adults were okay! The comedian on board was funny but other than that, the night club was overcrowded and the waiters there would take your order and swipe your card then go on break. We had to track down the only waitress in the place and explain the situation. She was so upset by her coworker's actions but she remedied the situation, brought us our drinks and apologized. The service at the Blue Iguana Bar was horrible as was the service at the Seafood Shack onboard the ship. The crew members that serviced those areas appeared to be over worked, bothered by taking orders and dealing with guest. They lack customer service skills and just out right rude. Ports and Shore excursions - well we couldn't wait to get off the ship and head for the Atlantis so we could spend the day there and away from the Carnival Victory ship and it's staff. I must say, this was a good experience for my husband to experience other cruise lines other than Disney Cruise Line however, I created a beast! We could never cruise with this line again with our son who was like his dad...vowed to never return to Carnival again. Read Less

Firstly when we got onboard it smelt like poop then go to the cab and there's no water they fix that then only cold water. The crew was not the nicest. The bartenders were kind of rude when you just ordered a Coke. The food was okay nothing great not much on the buffet to choose from if you don't like seafood. The cruise director and shows were great. The amount of marijuana that was smoked on the boat with a bit too much for my liking. People were smoking it in the smoking section as young children were walking by. The pools were always overcrowded and hot tubs. The Pizza Chef was very rude. The serving staff in the dining were awesome. The guest services Workers were always very rude when you went up there. The merchandise in the shops were good priced in my opinion they are very pleasant employees. Read Less

My first issue started with embarkation. I handed the rep my family’s documents, she mixed them up and then said there is a problem and had to send me to someone. I had to go straighten everything out in which I was told, there was no problem. All documents were there. The rep then asked if we had any food allergies, I informed her that I documented the information in my cruise portal. She informed me that I needed to let her know. So I did, we boarded shortly afterwards, I was getting excited. As we were walking to the Lido deck, we were ambushed with tons of staff in which were trying to sell us so many different services, get us to sign up for raffles, to take photos. I felt very uncomfortable. Although the cruise fee was inexpensive, I still felt as if I paid my money to enjoy myself and not to be harrassed on every floor, at every elevator. It got aggravating as this occurred the whole cruise. We finally get to our room only to notice, my daughters luggage was missing. We went to guest services, the line was toooooo long. So we thought to enroll my 2 younger children for camp, in which was closed, during the cruise they were closed more than open and when I was able to drop off the kids, I was given 1 hour to 2 hours to assure I pick them up. All day went by and no suitcase. I finally went got to guest services, I received no help there, but the staff was very pleasant. I returned back to my room before dinner and finally the luggage was there. We get to the Atlantic dining hall and again I was asked to repeat my daughters food allergy list ( I was asked every night, at every seating) I will say I do appreciate RICA ROSA, who memorized my daughters name and allergy list from the first day of the cruise, although she wasn’t assigned to be our wait staff, she visited us at every sitting to assure we were okay. ( we miss her). The second day my husband and I found out that carnival deactivated our account due to a mistake on their end. They finally apologized after 30 min of arguing and forcing me to contact my bank, in which my bank informed me that carnival was pulling funds from my account after the authorization of the $100.00 was held. They totally screwed up my account and fixed it after frustrating myself and my husband. I really wanted to go home after that. The pool bar staff was very very rude, as I purchased 2 bottomless bubbles package (1 for me and my daughter) and I’m guessing I was wasting their time asking for Sprites with cherries (I don’t drink alcohol). My 11 year old was allowed to purchase jewelry and charged it to the room, when I took the jewelry back I was told that they didn’t know how to refund the item. This became a nightmare on top of a nightmare. I did enjoy being on the water, and watching the sun set and the beautiful sight seeing however I really wish I would have chosen a different cruise line. The sales people, and being harassed to buy, buy, buy really put me in a funky mood. I literally was dodging sales people by maneuvering around the ship by walking the back halls. Ugghhhhhhh... I would not recommend Carnival to anyone!! Read Less

many of my friends was talking about the carnival cruise- so for my fiance's birthday- i suggested a cruise to the bahamas. here's a rundown of our cruise: 5/4: Tagging our luggage- very nice person- he informed us where to go and where to line up at- very helpful since we informed them that we were 1st time cruisers. Lining up at Guestcare- just so that we can put a credit card on file- which later i found out that we didnt need to put one on file. stood in line for 1 hour- no biggie- we were enjoying the scenery. getting on the ship: was cool- everyone was nice and pleasant to be around- we walked around until our room was ready. After 2.5 hours- we started to go to our room- per our sheet that we got from Guestcare- PROBLEMS: someone elses luggage was there- sheet that gave us iteneraries for the day- was not US- the room was supposed to be decorated with balloons and a drink for my birthday surprise for my fiance- WAS NOT THERE OR DONE. so.....thinking - it was simple mistake- we will find our luggage the decorations must have been an oversight- no problem- BUT- when we asked our stewards about our luggage- he was not helpful- said- "they were very busy and maybe 2 hours- we can get our luggage".... or " i can go to Guestcare- soo...we decided to go to Guestcare- where there was a line of people and long and behold- our luggage was sitting on the hallway- tag has been removed from porting- so there was no way of us finding out unless we look inside the luggage- which we did and thats how we find out that was our luggage. 5/5: we asked several for room service, since our room has not been cleaned- we asked for clean towels- only to be told that - they are on thier way to cleaning the rooms... 5/7: carnival DOUBLE charge my debit card- i had to wait until 5/9 to call guestcare and talk with them so that i can have my bank release the funds- in the meantime- my account in the negative for 2 days- no money until they released it- it was exhausting- Guestcare said that they failed to tell us about the hold- ...overall- the rest of the cruise was good- carnival pushes for Guestcare and how amazing they are- but we didnt feel- it was awful experience at first. we would like to cruise again- not sure if we will use carnival this time tho- but i really liked my carnival planner- greg- tho.. I love cruising and Carnival is my cruise line of choice. I try to do 2-3 cruises a year. I just returned from a weekend cruise (Apr 20-Apr 23) to the Bahamas. I traveled with my mom and my sister, 3 to a cabin. We have traveled this way several times but this time was awful. I usually get the sofa or bunk bed as the extra bed but this time it was what appeared to be a lawn chair without legs. It was described as a trundle bed but I have a trundle bed and this was not one. It is now two weeks later and my back still hurts. I literally slept on the floor...no cushioning, just the plastic weaving of the "lawn chair". Also the room was so tight we could not open a suitcase without putting it on a bed. There was not floor space even to walk except the hallway in front of the bathroom. So...if you book 3 to a room, on Deck 10, beware. It totally ruined my trip and I still haven't recovered. I have another cruise coming up in 3 weeks and I'm prayerful that the experience will be much better. If it weren't already paid for I would jump ship! I have to admit though that other than the sleeping accomodations the cruise was goid. The food choices are awesome. You have to try the Guy Burgers on the Lido Deck! Best burgers in the world let alone the high seas! Also the main dining is great too. The wait staff learns your name after the first night and make you feel like you are their only guest. The dining is elegant but you don't have to dress up. Just no swim wear, shirtless, etc. Also you can have as much as you want! You can have 1 of each entee, appetizer, dessert, etc. I gained 5 lbs on a 3 night cruise! I didn't do an excursion on this cruise but I have on many others. It is best to do an excursion because it is safe and you don't have to worry about getting back on time. I am looking forward to doing something exciting on the one coming up! Carnival truly is the "fun ship". The entertainment is top notch. Broadway shows, game shows, movies under the stars, shopping, etc. If I didn't have to sleep on what amounted to be the floor it would've been perfect but this time they fell way short! My next two cruises this year are with 4 in a room, (a quad) and they SHOULD be fine because we will have bunk beds...I hope! In spite of it all...I can't wait! Read Less

My wife, eight friends and I went on this cruise as a work trip. Our first cruise was 4 years ago on the Carnival Liberty and we absolutely loved it. This trip however, paled in comparison to that one and our second trip last year. I have absolutely no complaints regarding the boarding process. It was simple, and seamless, exactly how I remember it. The let down came our first night on the ship at dinner. We ate in the Atlantic dining room and I had the prime rib. I ordered it medium rare, which it was when I received it, no complaints about that, BUT it was cold. This, as I learned quickly would hold true for almost every meal I had on this cruise. My prime rib was cold as were all of my sides. The only food I ate on that ship that was hot were the burgers from Guy Fieri's Burger Joint and the fresh omelette I had for breakfast every morning. Even the breakfast sides(bacon, sausage, potato, french toast, pancakes etc.) were cold. I ate at the buffet only once because the first experience was no different. When I go on vacation, the food either makes or breaks the trip for me and in this case, the food definitely put a damper on my trip. It was certainly not up to the high standards I have come to expect from cruising. Another thing that really irritated me, perhaps more than it should have was the fact that the dress codes for the dining room was not enforced at all. On Carnival's web site, they state that the dress code for their dining rooms are informal and formal. On the informal nights you may wear long shorts and a collared shirt. No bathing suits and t-shirts. On formal nights, dress pants and a dress shirt. Every night we were in that dining room I saw people in bathing suits, t-shirts and flip flop sandals. Even on the formal night there were people in shorts and t-shirts. I asked our server, Conrad why this was happening and he said, "That's the way Carnival is going, catering to a younger crowd." I understand catering to a younger crowd, but either enforce your own rules, or get rid of them! Speaking of Conrad, he was one of the bright spots on the cruise. We sat with him every night and absolutely loved him. Also, our cabin steward, Husry was another bright spot. I feel that we got to know them both quite well. I have no complaints about the ship itself, or the cleanliness. Other than what I've mentioned above, the trip was so-so. If this is the way Carnival is going, then I've probably sailed for the last time with Carnival. Read Less

Depressing and old ship, the service was terrible the bartenders and one Asian guy serving the burgers who basically through us a food we don't understand how a person like that works in a cruise. Thank God our waiter at the restaurant (Mario) was very friendly because if it wasn't for him we wouldn't have anything positive to say about the service. The quality of the food in general is horrible. There was only one show (living in America) which by the way was very good. The Latin band not organized, always starting late and didn't have a program to follow they improvised all the time. The smoking areas were in the middle of the ship in the bar next to the casino an area too big and impossible to avoid. the pool area also people smoking. We don't recommend this ship to anybody and never returning to this ship again. Read Less

We chose this cruise as a special family celebration. The staff on board was OUTSTANDING! Never a complaint with the employees. However, the ship had just come out of dry dock and we were expecting clean, neat, issue free sailing. There were three rooms in our group. One of the three had major issues; flooded toilet, no working toilet for part of a day, and horrible smells, on multiple days, that had to be corrected when people were asked to leave the area. We didn't have hot water in our room. Thankfully, we were able to use the spa for a hot shower, but we didn't pay for a room with a shower to. To be able to use it. Several days, we did take a cold shower, or just leaned over the shower to wash our hair due to time. We called to have it fixed, and it was.....for one shower.... The line for guest services was always so long, we didn't complain, because that would have taken time away from why we were there. The slide was operational for a short time on only one of the five days. Multiple public bathrooms were out of order the entire cruise. We had an embarkation time, but once we got there, it didn't matter. People that had time after us, were let on before or at the same time. The main show was canceled and felt like it should have been announced there would be a change before we got there. The entertainers (singers) were far from great. Cheap entertainment at best. The music was EXTREMELY loud on the lido deck, at all times. We have been on two other Carnival ships, and you could at least carry on a conversation while on board those, but NOT on the Victory. This was definitely our least favorite cruise. We enjoyed the resort at Amber Cove, but not much going on at Grand Turk, other than the beautiful water. Read Less

I have am a slight handicapped passenger. i did not need a wheel chair. I had preregistered on line and the curbside support was great. the first dock people in the terminal were more interested in text on thier cell phones and not helping the passengers. when I asked what time I had to board she said its on my boarding pass. No zone was or number was on the pass that I made on line. I am a gold member and that meant nothring. I had signed up for a 12:30 boarding time and the not attentive two gate agents siad you wil jjust have to wait. when i was charging my phone I can what appeared to the supevisor or the gate area and she said I could have boarded already. We finally started the process of getting onto the ship. That is when all service disappeared. We go to the room after waiting and hour in the buffet area. the buffet line was over an hour wait. there was no assistance offered and I finally gave up and went directly to the salad bar. for a ship with over 3000 guest I would have thought more possible stations then the pasta hamburger and buffet areas would be open. the pizza was also an hour wait and the hambuger and pasta areas were also an hour wait. why the main dining rooms werent open I have no clue. When qwe got to the room. the 3rd wasnt there. We had expected a drop down bed but instead with had a trundle bed with a reaslly crappy mattress. No one was answering the steward line and no one was answering the service line. we finally went to the front desk another 45 min wait. Once I got the desk I was completely rebuffed with the fine print of the contract. if we had been told it was a trundle bed we would not have reserved the extended balcony for three. we would have gotten a standard balcony wiht the drop down ben. I asked for wheel chair assist and waited over 25 min. so my first 4 hours with Carnival were horrible. No food. room number ready and no wheel chair every showed up. when I gave up on the wheel chair another supervisor who was directing the traffic asked if he could help. My legs at that point had giving out and caused me to fall. Again no help from a staff to get up or get a wheel chair. then the continuous annoouncements. We douldnt understand and single word fo the announcements. if the ship needs to do this as load as they are it needs to be fixed. the announcements at 10 am and later should be eliminated and teh training load horns on the cozumel day were horrible. I thinki I load the hearing from laying out on the serenity deck. The food on the ship was about mcdonalds level of tastiness. poor soups, same deserts every night and the meat was 1/2 rate. this was my 11th crusie and 10th with carnival my gold level on this cruise ment nothing except the pin. no captains toast and nothing in docking etc. The service team needs to go to jet blue RCCL or southwest about service. our room steward was decent and no one got an additianal tip. I should have actually reduced all of the tips to $0 dollars. I was with 10 other men and trying to get carnival to get us onto a single table was like asking moses to party the red sea. We ended up with drunk lady that pissed off one of our guest who was celebrating his birthday and we ahd men at 3 other tables. The pizza was only decent. for the wait I would have expected more. It was basic but very greasy. I asked for vinegar for my fries and was told they didnt have any. IN all of my cruises on carnival I looked forward to different appetizer and never turned away a main because the pasta, sauce or meats were great. the sauses were average, the plate was filled with stuff that didnt look or taste good and the desert bar at the buffet was the same stuff each day. I guess the desert chefs have been allowed to serve substandard fare. I will not take the Victory again. I have had a ton better service on teh smaller ships like sendation and facination. and the ship we had in Alaska. I think we will use RCCL and celebrity for future cruises. Read Less

My husband and I have been on 19 Cruises with Carnival being the one we choose most of the time. In November of 2017 we were on a 5-day cruise to the Keys and Cozumel. I can honestly say I have been on a bad cruise until this cruise, this ship was terrible! Let’s start with our cabin. Our room smelled like the sewer off and on. I do not believe it was cleaned from the previous cruise. The floor was not vacuumed, there was chocolate on a corner of the sheet that drapes over the comforter, the couch in our suite that pulled out to a bed was sticky and the comforter on that had what looked like someone had eaten Cheetos and wiped their hands on it. The Kleenex box was empty the whole cruise and when I pulled one off from the bathroom shelf and placed it on the counter it was never put into the Kleenex container. On our second day when we went to get off ship I told the cabin person that our floor needed to be cleaned, he asked if we wanted our room cleaned in the am or pm, I said pm but the floor needed to be vacuumed now! I was a little confused because on all other cruises they have made up the beds in the morning and turned them down each night, why am I paying him at end of cruise if I had to make my bed every day which is what I ended up doing? On all the other cruises it is normal to see hand sanitizers all over the ship, not on the Victory, on the first night in the dining room we saw one when entering but it was empty. Also on all other cruises you always see people cleaning everywhere, not on the Victory. Now let’s get to the food. It was not good! We have had many conversations with friends defending Carnival's food. I personally do not like buffet food, no matter where it is so we always go to the Dining room and that is what we tell friends when they say "I heard Carnival's food is not good" but this time I can say it was not good. I am not sure if Carnival has changed their food, their cleaning policies or what or if each ship is managed differently but I am probably not going to go on another Carnival cruise until I find this out, you have no idea what you getting into until the boat is at sea and then it’s too late because you cannot get off. My obvious complaint is the fact that we had bed bugs. We had four people in the room and everyone had bites around their ankles. We complained about them and they said they would change the sheets. We accepted that as an answer, but I noticed they never did because the blood stain I had noticed when we first got there, was still there after they said they changed them. Overall the entire ship is old and run down. I think I've been spoiled by Royal Caribbean and you get what you pay for, but everything just seemed old and dirty. My only other complaint would be the portion size for dinner. They are really conservative with their food portions. I paid $20 extra for the surf and turf and got a small slice of steak and a small portion of lobster. Overall it was still fun, but the bed bug issues with the cabin really ruined the cruise for us and nothing was ever done to make up for it. Read Less
