We chose this cruise because we had dreamed of spending our 30th anniversary in Hawaii. Never having been there we really didn't know which islands we would like to visit. This cruise gave us the opportunity to visit several islands and see the different cultures at each location. The ship was a comfortable size in that it's neither too big or small. We were able to see some of the same people ...
We had never been to Hawaii and decided to take this cruise that left from Honolulu and went to 5 islands in Hawaii. We went two days early and stay on the big island and went to see The Punch Bowl and found my husband cousin on the MIA wall during WWII. The next day we went to Pearl Harbor. It was amazing and very emotional. We stay over night on two of the Islands. The ship was very maintained ...
This was our 13th cruise with RC and our second on the Radiance. The ship was in good condition (NOT a rust bucket as one person described it). The cruise can be divided into three phases. #1 Getting on the ship in Hawaii was very stressful after flying over from the east coast but it was not RC's or the ships fault. Boarding was delayed by our wonderful Govt. agencies that wanted to assert their ...
we were in cabin 1588 on tenth deck. The Radiance has been done over and everything is so new in the cabins. The Embarkation was really bad but no fault to the crew. Disembarkation in Vancouver was horrible. Trying to get 2000 people upstairs using one elevator People coming on to the ship were coming down same elevator. There should have been security around to help with crowd control.
But ...
The Cruise Director, Steve Davis, was over the top good. Still can't believe he taught 40 passengers to do Michael Jackson's Thriller zombie dance, which they actually performed to the music as a coordinated group in costume and makeup in the central plaza on the last night. Bravo.
I liked the ship's performance of Piano Man in the theater. They had an outstanding pair of tenors. The Brazilian ...
The destinations and sea days appealed to us. Having cruised the radiance many years ago, we had no qualms of using the ship again. Our first encounter with our cabin came as a shock with worn and badly patched curtains and an over all shabbiness. The smell coming from the drains was terrible, our wonderful room steward was unable to help with the smell, the origin of the odour became evident ...
Big plus--It offered more time at sea and visited ports on our "bucket list".
This trip has lots of high points and some that were rather mediocre. The service was excellent and we became on a first name basis with our waiter and assistant waiter, Anil and Diana (Liying). They were a delight. Our cabin attendant, Butu, was also very friendly and kept surprising us with towel animals. The ...
As per normal boarding was easy and well organized.
While there are parts of the ship that do need some attention I have to say it was a great cruise.
Of course the norm now is to smash you at every turn with drinks packages, Rest packages and now even ship tours.
The other regular thing that seems to be the norm is price increases and it never ends.
We were on this ship in Feb and did ...
We were advised by our travel agent to take a relocation cruise to enjoy a lot of extra cruising time, plus the bonus of having a few days in Hawaii before flying home. Sounded like a great idea. My daughter and her husband, both aged in their 20s joined us. We had only done one other cruise which was fabulous. Royal Carribbean was sold to us as a 'cut above' and more pitched to adults than ...
Specifically chose this cruise as a means of visiting French Polynesia (Tahiti, Morea and Bora Bora).
Booking, registration and embarkation all handled with ease - somewhat disappointed with the tired and dated condition of stateroom - corridors smelt musty and rooms were drab with brown curtains and dated timber furniture.
Our particular stateroom also had a bad drainage smell which ...
