Holland America may be attracting a younger passenger...that's a good thing.
"Just wanted to get away on our 17th cruise and thought why not try this new ship."Music Walk" is a nice concept of three places to hear music, generally alternating every 30-40 minutes without skipping a beat in the evening...."Read More

Quite Disappointing

Review for Holland America Rotterdam to Caribbean - Southern

We were on the Rotterdam VII for 21 Days (January 25 to Feb 15) for the Seafarer & Wayfarer Collector Cruise. Let me first say that: I waited to write this for a month - so, I could consider all the issues that we had dispassionately. I’ve tried to be as hones as possible - hopefully it doesn’t come off as some sort of “get off my lawn” rant…. We are 4-Star Mariners - these were our ...

Luxury cruiser enjoys Pinnacle Suite on Rotterdam Caribbean cruise

I usually cruise luxury lines, however all but one have been disappointing me since Covid. I was thus absolutely delighted to have a wonderful 10-day Caribbean experience on HAL's new Rotterdam, with an old friend. I booked everything online, without a TA, and never had to speak with anyone at HAL pre-cruise. We stayed in the 1200 square feet beautiful Pinnacle suite on the 7th deck (Schubert) ...

We last sailed with HAL from 1993 to 2004. Since then it's been mainly Cunard's Queen Mary 2 and a couple of other lines of no particular import. The Rotterdam itself is a beautiful vessel. The decor is mid-century modern, and also has a significant musical theme, too. I have an interest in MCM, so photographing the interior of this ship was very enjoyable. Our cabin was much smaller than ...

Relaxing Holiday Cruise

We have been on 18 cruises but this was our first with Holland America. We chose Holland America for the more quiet, relaxed atmosphere on the ship. We felt so good and recharged after the week long sail on Rotterdam 7. The holiday cruise exceeded our expectations. The ship was new and attractive, food selection good, staff was absolutely great, friendly and professional. The cabin was very ...

MS ROTTERDAM: traditional ship design.

MS ROTTERDAM. The newest in the HAL fleet. In design and build In the beautiful traditional ship design. Although all the Pinnacle class ships are similar in design each with its own interior style design, the Rotterdam’s main design change is its single funnel not the usual double funnel. Like all the other HAL ships it is not glitzy! It does have a subdued WOW and it’s traditional Dutch ...

The Good (Dining), Bad (Ports), and Not at all Ugly (Ship)

After enduring HA’s Rotterdam on one of its last voyages in late 2019, we eagerly booked a 10-day southern Caribbean trip for this December on its namesake successor. I’ve seen lots of reviews of the ship that you can access on these boards, and won’t bore you with redundant insights here. Will, however, say that the almost-new Rotterdam is an enormous upgrade — sleek, understated, and truly a ...

Beautiful ship, that's it!

We wanted to get away after being cooped up for 3 years during covid. We really wanted to have a great time. The ship and the crew were great. The food was AWFUL.. and the entertainment was basically nonexistent. We are used to Celebrity ships where you have good shows every night. On this ship there were no shows like that at all. There were a few mediocre entertainers with shows that lasted ...

We are a retired couple who have cruised regularly since 2000 in the Caribbean, Mediterranean, transatlantic, Scandinavia and Asia. We have cruised with several cruise lines but mainly Celebrity Cruise line/ RCCL. After Celebrity redesigned their Solstice ( Equinox etc.) series introducing more suites with their own deck space we found it difficult to find a quiet space on deck , something we had ...

Very nice experience

From the moment we entered the boat, we noticed that it was not the usual environment as in other lines, but a little more sober, something that I liked because I am a lover of differences. Everything was top notch, I just want to comment that several people of Dutch origin sailed on that cruise, a group that believed they were the owners of the ship and shouted, jumped into the pool and broke ...

We chose HAL, in our experience, they smaller ships, less noise and excellent food and service, no big production shows. Food: Food stale, low quality, very small quantities for some items, ran out of some items, fewer selections, many of which were fake meat, repetitive menus, instead of always available there were items you could pay extra for, premium restaurants charged more for a salad ...
