I chose this ship because it was near my relatives place and because it was only a 3-day cruise. I upgraded to a suite because it was inexpensive, and I had never had a suite. It was FANTASTIC, but don’t expect lots of “bling”. It’s an older ship with character (like me lol). DATE: July 14-16, 2019 US: We were 2 ladies: 67 & 73 FOOD: The Buffett is average, dinners were great. ENTERTAINMENT: Surprisingly good SIZE: It’s a smaller ship, only 1100 passengers, meaning not so many lines for everything; easier to get around in a smaller ship; easier to meet people. STAFF: nice and accommodating CABINS: we had a suite on deck 10 with a balcony, which was 1 of 19. Total cabins were 658. The bathroom was huge with 2 sinks. The living room is separate from the bedroom with pocket doors; and a huge wooden balcony - no plexiglass. Gorgeous sunsets. My only complaint was the noise on deck 11 above us, but would put up with that for how big the cabin AND how close to everything we were. Didn’t have to run marathons to get around the ship. EXCURSION: We “swam with the pigs” on Crystal Beach!!!!! The highlight of the cruise. It was magical. For $65, you got a lounger and umbrella on the beach, towels, we had a picnic bench with umbrella we shared. The place has a large hut that has food, drinks, and bathrooms. I found out later, you could have purchased a waterproof camera on board. It took about an hour from the port with a bus driver that was also a tour guide and left us stop & take a picture of The Blue Hole on the way to the pigs. You swim about 45 minutes after you hear the instructions. SO SO CUTE PIGS. PROS: so many and next time I will purchase the cruise & stay package where you get to stay a few night in Freeport. CONS: Just that little noise from deck 11 TIP: It was the CALMEST CRUISE I HAVE EVER BEEN ON!!! it’s only 58 miles from West Palm to Freeport so they go slow, and on the way back, they actually stop for 4 hours (I guess to let another ship in, not sure) (I know there are some negative reviews, but don’t expect the Ritz, just be flexible, have fun and make memories.) We took this cruise for mr daughter-in-laws 21st birthday. Valet parking was $40 for the trip. We got to the port around 2pm there were no lines to get through security and onto the ship. There are stations set up before you embark to set up your dining preferences and purchase drink packages. Ten drink coupons are $75. Ten coke coupons were $21 and unlimited non-alcohol drinks is $32. The room was larger than the newer ships we’ve been on with a huge porthole to look out of. The food in the dining room was better than any of the 3 Carnival cruises we have been on. You can upgrade to steak or seafood for a price but we didn’t find a need for that. The Classica has a Dolly Parton impersonator that looks like her, talks like her, and sings like her. This is her 20 years ago, excellent show. The main show was just as good. The pure talent of the singers and dancers more than makes up for the low cost production and the acrobatics were amazing. Don’t expect a lot of fancy lights and props but you will be entertained. Especially the two lead singers, they are world class talents. I would love to see them do a Micheal Jackson set. The only bad time was long lines going through customs but that’s on all cruises. Having a passport definitely helps though. Also, the bartenders were great, there are no weak drinks here and the DJ in the nightclub was very good as well, although being older we didn’t hang with the youngster too long. Read Less

We just came back from a four day cruise to the Grand Bahamas. It was our first cruise and we could not have asked for more. The food was excellent. The service was impeccable. The ship itself was a fun experience with adventures on each deck. It was a truly eclectic crowd and very friendly. Everyone will fit in here. What was unexpected was the high quality of the entertainment. We stayed on the island and were pleasantly surprised by its cleanliness and clean beaches. Totally safe and uncrowded. The camera does not lie and we have many photos of the wonderful experiences. To see the sunrise at 6 am from the cruise ship over the calm blue and turquoise waters was unforgettable. After all it is ultimately about the experience of getting close to Nature. The price is so low that I know we will be back whenever we want a quick escape. After all the Bahama Mama is calling. We took this cruise because of the special two-night deal. Outstanding experience. The musical shows were dynamite. The beds very comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful. Food excellent. Well-organized, well run. Ship and all amenities very clean and maintained well throughout the cruise. Lots of activities to pursue aboard ship. All events were held on time and stuck strictly to the time allotted. Ate at Yellow Elder. Outstanding food, service, and atmosphere. The only fly in the ointment was when we returned and were disembarking. We filled out the online passport papers, which gave us an edge on early debarking; however, as I was leaving, I was told to speak to the information desk. Long lines to wait for my turn, while my companions were ashore waiting for me. Finally, got to the counter only to be told that everything on my account was okay and I was free to leave. That was totally unnecessary. Other than that, thoroughly wonderful experience that we will do again in the future. Couldn't find any comment cards to fill out before we disembarked. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it was short and the price was really good. There was a different main show each night, the first night was Soul well done and so enjoyable. Then my favorite was the Blitz,, (the 2nd night), it was absolutely fantastic. All 4 of us loved every bit of it. In the lounge we saw Sax and songs which we enjoyed and the next day we saw Tina Turner Experience and loved it. The food at the restaurant was truly delicious, The waiter, Alexander was superb. The buffet had everything we could want to eat and unfortunately I made a pig of myself when we boarded and lunch was waiting for us. We never had to leave the ship cruise this time and had a wonderful time. The staff every seemed pleased to be there for us. They were friendly, helpful and did their best to please us. Before leaving the ship when we got back, we ate breakfast at the restaurant and was not disappointed in the least. When the coffe was low in my cup, they were there. We will be going again and again. Great job crew of the Grand Classica. Read Less

Took this cruise as a quick family getaway. We live locally yet we have never tried this ship. We are experienced cruisers having taken all the major cruise lines at some point. Check in (shoreside) was a little bit on the slow side (they were having issues using their tablets to take pics of our passports) but once that was done we grabbed a boarding picture, confirmed our dining table and we were onboard! I recommend getting your drink package online when you book. This will save you time. Staff will try to hound you about buying a drink package once onboard but all I had to say was I already purchased one. Booked a Suite which was worth the extra money. The room was large, clean & cold a/c. The ship herself is old school and in a good way. Beautifully appointed, attentive staff, nothing looked worn or beat up. She felt like a mega private yacht than a budget cruise ship....my feelings anyway. Meals were excellent. Good variety in the Buffett. Food was flavorful & hot. Main dining room & staff took pride in their service. Dinners were excellent. For an extra charge I ordered a small Filet (steak) which as good as any major steakhouse (Capitol Grille, Mortons, etc). The pizza is really good even though charges apply. Our family likes to game and we found the Casino to be clean and staff pleasant. Both nights we would take over a Blackjack table prior to the show and then afterwards. And reasonable prices. They offer $5.00 & $10.00 minimum tables. Try finding that at Hard Rock.....yeah, good luck! The onboard entertainment was suprisingly very good. Both nights we enjoyed an excellent show. I think the only way that could have topped their performance is if they had a live orchestra but you'll be hard pressed to find one even on the major lines nowadays. I won't really comment on Freeport since my focus is the ship experience. The area is still pretty beat up from Hurricane Matthew back in 2016. Since we (wife & I) booked a Suite we were invited (they later allowed my entire family...13 persons total) to visit the Bridge while we were docked at Freeport. Then to top it off they allowed us to remain on the Bridge while we maneuvered out of our slip and proceed out the main channel. Captain Hansen was a riot doing pull ups on his chin up bar that is welded to the ceiling of the Starboard bridge wing!.....no joke! He was completely professional but also didn't take himself too seriously. He loves to entertain. He made sure we were involved and had a great experience. He even made my Aunt press the ship's horn ( 3 times for astern) when we backed out from the dock. It was an incredible. We all left the Bridge feeling like celebrities. If nothing more book a Suite for this experience alone! Especially if you're a ship buff like myself. Overall our experience was an excellent one! Our expectations were more than met. As a result we are looking forward to a return trip in January 2019. Kudos & accolades to the ship, her officers & crew for providing outstanding service. So, if you're even slightly interested in going then go! Read Less

First off let me say I was set on not liking the ship because I love her sister ship the Celebration. However with that said she sure did change my mind. I brought 3 of my granddaughters along with their boyfriends and we were originally going to sail on the Celebration. So this was not my first choice and I didn't think my girls would like it. But I was wrong. I purchased the Concierge package for everyone and it worked well as it always does on the Celebration. Ok back to the Classica, the food, we tried all the upcharge restaurants. We went to the wine tasting which was part of the package so they had samples of the pizza and it was to die for. So we did the pizza in the afternoon. The best pizza and I am of Italian heritage and I can't say enough good things about it. We tried the Rock Grill and that was a dining experience into itself. Great tender steaks and seafood. They do a presentation and the kids loved it. So now I have to critique the Admirals Club that was somewhat of a disappointment and here is why. On the Celebration the main dining rooms Stellar Prime and the Admiralty Club are very nice. Dark wood paneling, frosted glass dividers and big picture windows. First off the Admirals on the Classica is way too small to accomodate the concierge people and the overflow went to the Yellow Elder. Neither one of the dining rooms were nice looking. I am shocked because the rest of the ship is so elegant. They need to move the Admirals Dining Room to another part of the ship and make it as special as the Celebration dining rooms. Another criticism is the suites. The marble bathroom is beautiful and so it the balcony but the suites themselves are shabby looking at best. Unless they redecorate the suites, the next time I sail on the Classica I'll just take a regular cabin. I highly recommend this ship. I will sail on her again. I know this cruise line listens to their passengers and I know they will make the improvements I just mentioned because they probably have heard them before. One last thing, when they owned the little ferry ship the Bahamas Celebration, there was a cruise direction name Steve Zimmerman. Well, he was the greatest and they in their infinite wisdom brought him back as their comedian. They need to make him the cruise director again because I don't know who their cruise director is but I sure know Steve Zimmerman. Great time and can't wait to do it again. Read Less

They have great deals which is less than if you were to book a hotel, restaurants and entertainment for a quick getaway. People are always in a fun and festive mood. It seems like the crew is encouraged to make sure everyone has a good time. The bed was very comfortable. The ship is older without the bells and whistles of the newer ships, but the cabin with ocean view is very comfortable. Dining can be freestyle if you wish. We like the buffet which has good variety and an outdoor grill. Parking is only available at the port as there are no other parking areas around. The valet parking is very convenient and $17 per day ($34 total). Read Less

Cruised on the Grand Classica 9/10/2018 to 9/12/2018 WoW! That basically sums it up. My wife and I have completed 70+ cruises. Every cruise line on the South East coast of Florida except Disney. 5 years ago we tried the Bahama Celebration and it was terrible to say the least. It changed ownership and the Grand Celebration went to the Bahamas to be a hotel for the hurricane victims. Then it went to the yards for a makeover. What a change. This cruise was on the Grand Classica and WoW again. Two totally different decors. Grand Celebration is lively with lots of marble shiny floors and a lot of brass. Beautiful! These ships are very old and have been upgraded to beauty. The Grand Classica has the old ship charm of a lot of wood. Beautiful wood varnished railings vs brass and the floors entering the buffet are varnished wood. So clean and shiny. Wood used beautifully everywhere. Yes there are marble floors also, but to a minimum. Even our bathroom had a Teak looking flooring. So nice. Not plastic. As for the bath room. Much more roomier that normal cruise lines. What was excellent was the pocket door for the bath room. So going in and out you have no worry about hitting someone with a normal swinging door. The sink counter top is marble and very large. As is the sink and the nice faucet. Hot water almost instantly. It is not a squeeze cramped space at all. Our room was an ocean view with a very nice large round porthole window. The bed and linen was very nice. The towels are extra thick. Nice gold yellow color. If you look out the window on other ships you will see a lot of rust. Not on this ship. Yes there are sections that need a bit of work. But considering the age of this ship. It almost looks brand new. Looking on the out side. The ship is so shiny white and I saw no rust as on many other ships. Every day everywhere there are crew members cleaning everything. Non stop. At the buffet there was a person posted outside of the bathroom. Constantly making sure it was spotless and it was. All the public bathrooms were very, very nice. Colors were excellent and new looking. Now the food. Very good buffet and grill. Burgers are super big. Several selections of sausage not only hot dogs. What is nice about the buffet are the small narrow containers for the food. Not much in them but many next to one another and the food stays hot. Because they are small. Fresh replacements happen a lot faster than on other ships. Breakfast is standard and very good. Complementary dining is very good. My wife had the salmon, so big she could not eat everything. She loved everything. The second night I ordered the NY 12 oz. strip steak. It arrived fast and perfect. I really think it was 14 oz. it was so big. Delicious and very tender. $18.00 + 18% but well worth it. As for the crew. Unbelievable on both ships. So wonderful, helpful and smiling. Could not have been more pleasant. Many other cruise lines need a crew like they have. That is what makes the cruise wonderful. The two shows were good but the magician was fantastic. So many things to do while at sea. Not much on the ship to do in port. Relax, do the hot tub or pool, get some sun. Bingo was almost a wash out. Mon-Wed cruise only 250 guests. Casino, lots of new slot machines that are NOT on other ships. Nice to see different games. Two pools and hot tubs. Very nice and clean. Lounges everywhere. I mean everywhere. Before paying to see the comedian I strongly suggest you hear him at the two shows prior to purchasing tickets. Getting on and off the ship. Super fast and easy. One suggestion was a shuttle at the island dock to take you to the other side of the dock where all the action is. Otherwise you walk. It is a little distance, only thing if it starts raining. At one time they docked on the other side. The live music was excellent, singers were excellent and the drinks are super strong. Worth the price for sure. Those that will be cursing for the very first time. Read, read, read everything on their website so you are not blindsided on the extra charges. Most ALL cruise lines charge close to the same. One thing to remember. Your gratuity for each one in the cabin is NOT just for your room steward to turn down the bed. Remember, that is not all he does for you. The room is spotless for you. He makes up the room and makes sure you have clean towels for the next day. Turns down the bed that night and brings you all the papers you need for daily planning. It is for everyone that takes care of you on that ship. It is divided. Also in the buffet and dining rooms. If you request ice. He will make sure you have it full at all times. A small price to pay to be treated like royalty. I do recommend these two ships. A great price for a great experience and enjoyment. Usually you get what you pay for. In this case you get more than what you pay for. Most of the time they offer great deals. WE are only one hour from the port. So we will e doing more fill-ins with these two ships for sure. Happy cruising. Bon voyage. Read Less

Chose the trip as a first cruise for my wife. 2 days on the water is a safe way to determine if a longer Alaska or Eupopean cruise would work. Everything from the booking process through the disembarkation was smooth. The ship is older and has been refitted so it looks and feels modern. The cabin was nice, I jab a lower deck outside cabin that had a HUGE round port hole window. Queen sized bed, side tables, and a small TV (for what?) were in the room. The fridge wasn’t up to par and the head of housekeeping offered us an ice chest but we settled on a constant supply of fresh ice and that worked well. We ate at the Admiralty on the first night, which was an upgraded dining option but checked out the Ocean Buffet which looked substantial on its own. Night 2 we ate at the Rock Grill, on our next trip I’ll try to finagle the Admiralty both nights. The shows are so-so BUT the Adult comedian on our trip (Lou Remy) had the audience rolling in the aisles. If you’ve been to Freeport and hit Port Lucaya then there’s no need to spend anything on the excursions. I’m already planning our next Grand Classica trip. . Read Less

As a Cancer patient my doctor prohibited me from flying and taking long road trips. I saw a commercial for this cruise line and decided to give it a try because it was only two nights. It was the best decision for me. I enjoyed the same amenities from the big cruise lines, without the large crowds. There was no waiting in line. I enjoyed the room accommodations, the pool area and the restaurants. Loved the food and their drink packages with and without alcohol. I enjoyed the entertainment particularly the Tina Turner interpretation. Don’t be fooled by the price. I enjoyed myself to the point that two months later, I scheduled another get away with their sister ship the Grand Celebration. This was also an amazing experience. Don't believe the bad reviews it never ceases to amaze me how people write such bad reviews and then after I been on a Cruise, a Hotel, or a Destination I think what were they talking about? This boat is very nicely built in Italy and it shows. It is just a little more elegant. The Food was fantastic in the main dining room as was the service. Our waiter Jaquim I believe his name was was at our beck and call we wanted for nothing. The cabin (We had a Port Hole view) was good sized as was the bathroom and the port hole was large. The entertainment was very Good we especially liked the Diana Ross/ Tina Turner singer she was great as was the show in the Main Theater. The show changed and we went both nights and both of the shows were great and very different. We even opted for the Adult Comedy show the second night and Laughed so much I almost hurt myself. I strongly recommend an excursion if your are on this boat or any boat for that matter that stops at Freeport. Unlike most of the Bahamas Freeport/Grand Bahama Island is not just for Tourists but is Half Tourist and Half industrial. Unfortunately the Port is in the Industrial section a good half hours drive from the Lucaya Tourist Area. So if you want to get off ship it pays to do an excursion and enjoy the free bus ride. The excursions were plentiful and reasonably priced with choices ranging from a Day at a Resort to Para sailing, snorkeling, Feeding Sharks, etc. etc. Lots to chose from. They offered drink packages for alcoholic and non drinks, this is a great way to save money. The kids club was also great. Our kids were excited to attend and didn’t wanna leave. To be honest I didn't have high expectations for this cruise and after reading some reviews, I knew to go in with an open mind. I will say, I was wrong. The Grand Classica was an incredible experience. The embarkation process was simple and the attendants were friendly and helpful. There were a large variety of foods available and everything my husband and I tried tasted good. The complimentary seating restaurant has delicious. My personal favorite was the Cajun Broiled Fish Fillet and Shrimp. Just thinking about it, my mouth salivates. Our cabin and ship was clean and there was always someone willing to help answer questions or guide us in the right direction. While on the cruise, there were tons of entertainment and activities available. One of my personal favorites were a Latin band playing meanwhile guests danced. When we arrived to the Bahamas, we decided to spend the day at the all inclusive Wyndham Grand Lucayan. The food was delicious and the alcoholic beverages were good quality with premium alcohol. We spent the day enjoying the pool, hot tub and the beach. The weather was wonderful, warm waters and sunny skies. My overall experience was great and I would highly recommend this cruise if you are looking for a relaxing weekend gateway. Read Less

I have cruised 13 times with RCL, NCL, Celebrity, Holland, & now Paradise. Exceptional experience for three peaceful days on Grand Classica! Easy embarkation & disembarkation with a passport. Fast valet parking only $19 day. Sailed 6/6/18-6/8/18. Spectacular ship, spotlessly clean, huge public areas, and beautifully decorated. Inside room 4067 was large and refurbished nicely. Comfortable beds. -Food on buffet was good and better then expected for lunch. Staff was always cleaning. Deserts good. The Zitti pasta was a surprise. -Yellow Elder dining was fast for anytime dining. Wait staff was quick to adjust to your needs. Waiter brought us extra entrees with out us asking (Impressive for two males!) Delicious food. Great deserts. You have option to purchase lobster or rib eye for additional price. See no need to pay extra since the included meals were great. ( Ok some one complained rolls were a bit stale. I did not care, since eating rolls was not my primary food option) - All staff always smiling and gracious. Any questions were answered with a smile. You always see staff cleaning. Every area of ship shinned with pride from staff. - Drink package that was a great value. (Do not want to get bartenders in trouble, but they always added extra alcohol!) -They have a nonalcoholic drink with cucumbers and limes that imitated a mojito!!! Was afraid first to try because of the cucumber. This drink is the "Bomb"!! I hope I can find this drink on land!! -Two separate pool areas were nice with abundance of lounge chairs.(They were in process of refinishing teak pool deck. Ship will then sparkle as a ten star) _ "THE BEST PART" The two shows in Legend Theatre with magician Neil Crosswell. Singers were of Broadway quality. Choreographer created an original show that was not "cruise ship funky". ( If you cruise regularly you know what I am talking about!) I would pay $60.00-$100.00 to see this show on land. Neil's magical act was incorporated into the music. Yes he pulls off some tricks that will leave you speechless!! Singers were beyond exceptional!!! _Tina Turner & Donna Summer tribute singer Sharon Johnson, Latin Band Azucar, DJ in the pool area all exceeded expectations of live high quality entertainment. -Grand Classica, Paradise Cruise Line offers a relaxing cruise for a incredible price. I do not work for cruise line. I was so impressed with the quality of this cruise I wanted to take time to share my wonderful experience with a cruise line that is really trying hard to give you a value cruise on a budget!!! I read through a lot of reviews before deciding to go on this cruise with my 2 kids (ages 10 & 15). I tried to prepare for any potential issues brought up by other reviewers. It turns out I didn’t need to! This cruise was great! I will preface my review by saying I have sailed in Carnival 5 times before. I needed something that would fit my budget and time schedule and this 2 night cruise on the Classica was perfect! Embarkation was a breeze. We were greeted warmly and everything went smoothly during the process. A delicious lunch buffet was waiting for us when we got on board. The selections at this and all meals were great. Our room was a spacious inside cabin for three. If I had to say one thing bad it would be the shower size could have been a bit larger. There were plenty of on board activities to occupy our time with. We dined in the Tellow Elder for dinner and breakfast and the food and service was wonderful! We caught both big singing and dancing productions and LOVED them. We also caught some of the other entertainment around the ship and they were all great! I loved this cruise and look forward to doing another one! Read Less

This cruise was great. I was a bit hesitant because of the reviews but it worked timewise for me. I cruise alot! I've been n many ships with different cruise lines. This cruise exceeded my expectations! It was clean. There were always cruise staff immediately available for whatever I needed. They had numerous activities which were so fun. The shows were awesome. The food was great It was any worse than any other cruise I've been on. I upgraded to the specialty steak house first night. Got filet mignon. Main dining second night was very good and server Dan was awesome! They have an adult pool I went to alot, although there weren't many kids on the cruise. It was quiet and the hot tub was great. I enjoyed it thoroughly! For the price it's well worth it! I'll be going again soon! Kudos Bahama Paradise! Highly recommend. Don't hesitate. Read Less

I booked this cruise as a very last minute inexpensive trip with my significant other. I have cruised frequently and just needed a quick getaway. I new 2 nights was not a lot and we would not do as much as on a normal cruise, so there were things we missed. I had read the nightmare reviews and even up to embarkation was fearing the worst. Embarkation was super quick. We were on the ship within 30 minutes. There was a severe thunderstorm so all of the passengers where inside. Once on board, I noticed friendly staff everywhere, assisting everyone like myself who was completely lost. We proceeded to deck 7 to check out the room. I was fully expecting a musty mildew mess of a bathroom with worn carpet and old towels. Nothing could be further from the truth. All of the linens and towels appeared to be brand new. The "MOLD" that people may be thinking is mold on the shower floor where it meets the wood is actually a black rubber epoxy that seals the pan from the wood. Our room steward checked in a couple times a day. I always saw crew cleaning and asking passengers if they needed help. Classica is in excellent shape for her age. I looked for the dingy carpets and old decor. I saw none of that in the interior public areas. The carpets on the stairs and in my cabin looked new. The ship is not fancy but it was decorated very tastefully. We spend most of our time at the Lounge listening to live music and having a couple cocktails. The drink package was more than enough for the two of us to share. We even had coupons left over. 10 drinks for $69.99 plus gratuity Once onboard, we went to the dining room Yellow Elder to make our dining reservations. After perusing the menus (which can be found on their website) we decided to eat in the included dining the first night and splurge on the Admirality Club the next night $33 pp. The food was probably the best I have had in any main dining room. The bread selection was warm and delicious. We each had a salad. I had the Mustard Rubbed Petit Beef Tender and my other half the Cuban BBQ Chicken Breast. My dessert, Chocolate Crocante was heavenly. It is white and chocolate mousse on a rice krispy type wafer. Peach Cobbler was also very good. The Steakhouse was to die for and well worth $33 a person for the 4 course meal. We were so stuffed we could not even finish our entrees - but still ate half of our desserts. We never made it back up to the pool deck, as I stated, it was a terrible thunderstorm on Night 1 and on Night 2 after being on Freeport 8 hours, we were exhausted. We had dinner and went to take a nap, but never made it back out. We were not able to see any shows - but the things we did see in the live music venues were pretty good. I am already planning on coming back on board soon. Read Less

Well this was my first cruise ever and it was a blast. After doing some research and reading about cruises of all types I went into this with a completely open mind. I did not have anything to compare it to but I do understand the basics of traveling anywhere. Getting onto the boat was no issue at all, just a few minutes and we were in our cabin. Once on the boat it was VERY clean and easy to get around. Our room was clean with fresh linens and fresh towels. The halls, foyers, elevators everything was very clean. The staff was AMAZING! Super friendly, smiling and helpful. At NO time during our cruise was the staff ever grouchy or rude. The wait staff was attentive and timely and made you feel like you were on a 5 star gold liner flagship. The entertainment was vegas cheesy but a lot of fun! The drinks were solid, with several bars throughout the ship and all of the bartenders were fast friendly (and generous!) The drinks were cold, tasty but not watered down. The food was restaurant quality ( Chilies or Applebees) nothing "gourmet" but nothing bad. The restaurants were nice, quite and again clean. We stayed with the choices that came with our tickets and did not try any of the upgrade restaurants. The other travelers were working folks like us and we had not problems with anyone. Lots of families, lots of children, grand parents, young couples, retirees-a mixed bag of people. Everyone seemed to be having a great time and many commented that this was a repeat trip for them. All in all I would say for a quick affordable getaway weekend this is a perfect trip. We spent a couple of days sipping drinks on pool deck with a day on a tropical beach in between. It was Independence Day and the ship anchored about a mile off of Palm Beach that evening so we could see the fireworks all up and down the Florida-it was really cool. This was a great little cruise, we got to enjoy a couple of days on the water, some fun entertainment, we ate, drank, slept , visited and are looking forward to this trip again. If your on a budget but want a nice weekend getaway this is the perfect cruise. Read Less

Took this on a lark since I had an unexpected 3 day weekend. The key to this experience is to set expectations accordingly. This is from start to finish, and by the line’s own admission, a party cruise. For folks like me who just want a ship, clean room, view of the ocean, place to read and sunbathe, and a helpful crew it’s perfect. For folks who expect an experience comparable to any of the big 3, you’ll be disappointed. Boarding: efficient for US passport holders. I appreciated the ability to book shore excursions and make dinner reservations while waiting, I’m surprised more companies don’t do this. Ship: a classic, in a good way. A former costa ship (with lots of relics from its past) that has been reasonably refurbished. In a lot of ways it was actually a pleasant change from some of the more pretentious newer ships I’ve been on. I’m low maintenance though and it checked all my boxes - a well-equipped fitness center, plenty of lounge chairs, and enough quiet spots to read a book. Cabin: clean, basic, showing it’s age but given the turnover they go through (new passengers every 2 nights) unsurprising. Attendant was, well, attentive - regularly checked to make sure I had enough towels, etc. Dining: basic but sufficient. Again, for what it is they try hard. Food quality was what you’d expect at this price point (I’d say comparable to an Applebee’s). Which isn’t to say it’s bad, just not at the same level as the majors. One highlight - Indian food in the main dining room was quite good, as it tends to be on many ships (given the proliferation of workers from South Asia in the marine hospitality industry). Additionally, was able to sample drinks from several bars onboard; contrary to other reports of weak cocktails I found them to be stronger than average. YMMV. Port: Freeport isn’t anything to write home about, as anyone who has been there will attest. Took the shared taxi ($5 each way) to Taino beach, had lunch at the Stoned Crab (recommend) and a couple drinks (also recommend). Their loungers and umbrellas were included with lunch, space is great, and service lovely. Avoid the chaotic Pirates Cove next door. Crew: unfailingly pleasant, and trying the best with what they’ve got. Many have worked on other ships before and it shows. Fellow Passengers: most are locals and, as one would expect on a party cruise, here to drink, tan, and unwind. If Carnival attracts the Walmart crowd, this is the Dollar General crowd. Manners, speaking volumes, and attire follow accordingly. The old adage applies: you get what you pay for. Given the frequent ridiculously low fares on Bahamas Paradise it is fair to say this winds up being a good deal for folks who want a quick getaway and love to be on a ship. Read Less

We just wanted 3 days away with no phones ringing. I really was thinking this was going to be the worst cruise ever after having been on Carnival and Royal Caribbean. Wow! What a shocker. There were maybe 300 people on board. Never more than 10 people nearby except at meals. We had the sports bar, library, hot tub, and most of the decks to ourselves. The interior cabin was a good size, the food was fine, a little too fancy and the buffet is small and not open for dinner which was different. The port was a breeze, but the valet parking is $20 a night, no other option. We didn't go to any shows, we were asleep early but at 5 am there was no one outside on the deck with us. And clean, wow, amazing. Polishing the handrails, picking up cups, attentive staff and they interacted well with each other and looked happy to be there. An enormous change from a 2000-4000 passenger capacity. And the option to get off and stay for a few days is fantastic. We went Wed-Fri and got back to an email for an upgraded room (an ocean view) for $129 with 5 free drinks, onboard credit and decided to book again. They have 2 ships. We were on the Classica and now want to try the Celebration, an old retired Carnival ship. The best relaxation I could ask for. Read Less
