The only saving grace of this cruise was the entertainment. The live Latin band, and nigh time shows are amazing! Other than that: 1- The poor quality food is bland, unhealthy, and bad tasting. The quality of the drinking water is horrible ( it tasted like if it has been poorly stored - not fresh). These comments apply to breakfast, lunch, and dinner! 2- the are no adult planned activities during the day. 3- the ship itself is very old and it shows it. The pool is smaller than the pools in most Pam Beach residences 4- the drinks are overpriced and poorly prepared. 5- the pictures were poorly taken, and overpriced. 6- this was a new year's cruise. There were no fire works!!!!! A disappointing anticlimactic moment! 7- the ONE glass of champagne distributed on New Years eve was served on slim plastic cup. The "champagne" was bitter and cheap. My wife and I choose this short cruise to Freeport, The Bahamas for this annual Christmas getaway. We were not looking for fancy or extravagant - just a quick getaway. It's a two night cruise. The ships are somewhat older, having been purchased from another cruise line and then refurbished. You are not going to get the glitz of the more established cruise lines. BOARDING AND DISEMBARKATION: The only parking I saw approaching the terminal was valet parking at $19/day. Boarding went smoothly. The only interesting note was that we were told we could not take our weekender bags onboard with us - they had to be delivered as the crew did not want suitcases in the dining area which was open. Of course, we went to eat lunch and promptly saw people rolling their luggage through the dining area. Disembarking was more "interesting". As we had a suite, we were supposed to have a priority exiting the boat. When we arrived at the designated area, we found a large crowd formed into three lines with little direction from the crew. Once the signal to leave was given, it was every person for themself as all three lines attempted to converge into one line. So, I was happy I had not purchased the priority boarding/disembarkation package. ROOM: We had a suite. There are 10 suites on board - 5 to port and 5 to starboard. The room itself is decorated in dark wood paneling and is rather dark until you turn on the lights. The seating area is separate from the bedroom by virtue of two sliding doors. The bed and sofa were both comfortable but low to the ground. In addition to the sofa, there are a couple of hard wooden chairs. The TV only had about 7-8 channels. The balcony was reasonably sized and comfortable. The bathroom was nicely laid out. FOOD: The buffet food was neither great nor poor - its buffet food. The first night we ate in the steak house and the food was outstanding. Our waiter, Milan, was very attentive. The second night we ate in the main dining cabin and the food was very good there. ON BOARD SHOPPING: The duty free for cigarettes, cigars and liquor was well stocked. The jewelry and watch shop was less well stocked with a very small selection of Invicta watches, a larger display of Seiko watches and a modest display of jewelry. The general store stocked items which you would typically find ashore during the excursions. ENTERTAINMENT: There was a tribute to Motown the first night which featured a talented group of entertainers singing and dancing various Motown hits. The second evening we attend a Tina Turner tribute showcasing a young lady who had a awesome voice and was good at getting the audience into her show. The adult comedy show ranged from corny to funny (I'm glad I had not paid extra to see this guy - I would have been annoyed). I should note that seating in all of the entertainment areas was very comfortable. All in all, if you are looking for a quick and inexpensive getaway to Freeport, this is an excellent value but you need to remember that this is not the Queen Mary. The food is good, the accommodations are comfortable and all of the crew members try very hard to make sure you have a pleasant experience. With that caveat, I could recommend this cruise line to friends. Having been to Freeport two years in a row, I doubt I would do this cruise again but note that this is more due to my familiarity with Freeport rather than dissatisfaction with this cruise ship. Took this cruise as part of a cheap package that included hotels stays from a travel agent that also included a timeshare tour for a low price. The only parking at this port is valet parking for $19 per day. It was handled well, but that is your only choice as no other parking appeared to be in the area. We arrived at the port around 1 PM and embarkation was pretty fast as it seemed that most people arrived at the 12 hour when the ship started boarding. We had an accessible cabin 6116 because I had to take a mobility scooter. The cabin layout was different. It was a wide door that opened out in to the main hallway where normal cabins opened inwards to the cabins. The room was narrow with a path leading to the toilet and shower in the back of the cabin which turned out to be wider than the cabin area itself. The bathroom area had ample room for the facilities and provided plenty of room to turn the scooter around and use the path to the cabin door without having to back up out of the cabin. The cabin area had a desk and closet to one side of the path and the two beds against the wall on the other side of the path. All acceptable cabins will be interior and this cabin (6116) only had one 220V European plug which kind of makes it hard to charge a mobility scooter ion the cabin and no other plugs in the interior cabin. However after inquiring with guest services to have something work for me, they did provide an adapter and power supply that was 115V to charge the scooter and provided a USB plug for charging electronics. From what I understand all cabins only have one plug and the regular rooms have 115V outlets but I did not see that first hand for myself. It is an older ship and it was pretty well maintained with cleaning and painting. The ship was easy to navigate between areas and there were 8 working elevators. The elevator limit was rated for twelve people, but I doubt that you can get more than six or seven people in them at one time comfortably. The ship was decorated for Christmas. The band during this cruise was very good and the main theater had a very good show during both of our nights. Both nights also included a family comedy section as well as the main show. We opted not to see the adult comedy show because it was a $9 charge. The main dining room was clean and the service was very good. The complimentary menu choices are a limited, but tasted good. You get an appetizer, main course and a desert. We had the braised beef rib the first night and the sirloin flat steak the second night. There is no assigned seating and when the door opened at 6PM everyone in line entered at the same time. The staff lead you through the dining room and you were seated as a family or party of how many and given the option of a table with others so you can make new acquaintances. The buffet area is smaller than most ships but had plenty of seating. The food areas appeared to be clean and the food was good. Hot food table, fruit and salad area, and a desert and beverage area. The only major complaint with the food and beverages was the water. It had a strange after taste as if they added something to it or the distillers need to be replaced. It was just not good tasting. The easiest way around it was to get the lemonade or ice tea and shove some food in your mouth after taking a gulp. The buffet was open for breakfast, lunch, diner, and a midnight snack. Typical breakfast was eggs, bacon, toast, corned beef hash, cereals and fruits. Lunch and diner included a carving station, meats, cheeses, sides, salad bar, and deserts. Midnight buffet was tacos and gyros. There was a poolside BBQ on Sunday before we left the Bahamas. The service was good and the staff were all friendly. The activities staff always seem to have something planned around the ship and they definitely try to be in character to make things fun with costumes and off the wall wearing of items such as a one peace pajama or some wild tug along toy and even a guy dressed as a panda with a tutu during the sail away party at the pool. They played a few cash game bingo sessions and even had poolside karaoke at night. And also had a beanbag toss competition for two top prizes to get $25 and $50 dollars removed from your on board account I had seen many reviews about extra fees of room cleaning or making you try and make an up scale purchase and I had my reservations about that as well. When we boarded the ship they had have areas to get you to upgrade meals and get bar drink packages, but we were able to go by those without a hassle. We did not see a room cleaning fee as others have posted, but the do have a set gratuity of $13.95 per person, per day. That is not much different than any other cruise line I have traveled with. We did have two other additional charges that I am not used to seeing from past cruise lines I have sailed with. The first being a cruise terminal fee of $1 per person, and the second being a Fuel Surcharge of $18 per person. Most cruise lines say the fuel surcharge is possible but this is the first time I have ever been accessed that fee which is a turnoff to me. It is not like there was any big fuel shortage at a massive price increase. During this sailing the price of fuels has even dropped compared to recent months. It's almost like saying that they don't think the fuel should be part of the operating cost and they just want to get more money from you. If I didn't have to pay that fuel charge without knowing it ahead of time I may have rated this cruise 5 stars. But it wasn't till we closed out our account that we were notified about it on the billing statement. Everything is per person instead of per cabin and for two people that's an extra $36 you didn't expect. We did not do any shore excursions The main section of the port was closed on Sunday being that no other ships were in port. We only went to the pier to pick up a few t-shirts from the limited local vendors that were open. Disembarking was just as easy as embarking on the cruise with the exception of the line for customs. That seemed to go a bit slow and the line tended to get long from it in the terminal. As far as leaving the ship it was pretty fast getting off the ship , just the terminal wait was lagging in movement. Once outside the terminal they had plenty of people getting the vehicles up to the curb for you to load up and leave the port. Read Less

I booked this cruise to try out solo cruising. I was pleased that they do appeal to solo travelers and do not charge a single supplement for oceanview staterooms. I was accidentally charged for double occupancy but this was quickly resolved by their online customer service chat. Embarkation And Disembarkation: The embarkation was a breeze, I was met with very friendly staff that assisted and directed me through the embarkation processes. I do like the fact that they offer valet parking at rates lower than what it costs to park yourself compared to other ports such as the Port of Miami. There was an area where you can pre-book your dining, shore excursions, and spa before boarding. The staff was not that pushy. Disembarkation is simplified, either you can get off early or get off late. I would recommend getting or using your passport as I was able to breeze through the customs line with a passport while others with birth certificates needed to wait in line. Cabin: The cabin was clean and spacious. It had some wear and tear but nothing worse than what I have experienced on other vessels that operate for the bigger cruise lines. The biggest issues I had was with the firm bed, the cold air conditioning, and no phone directory on the phone. If you do have multiple things to charge, it would be wise to bring a power strip with you as there is only one outlet in the room. I read other reviews prior to going and brought my own power strip. The Ship: I found the Grand Classica ship to be in very good condition with some minor noticeable wear and tear. The public areas were kept clean and I noticed the staff and crew was very quick to remove any rubbish that was found on the floor. The ship could use better quality signage as the some of the directories that were plastered over the old ones were beginning to peel off. Service: I found the service to be excellent. All the staff and crew that I interacted with was helpful and addressed whatever questions or needs that I had. I did have an issue with being charged for a bottle of water that I did not consume from the room and being charged for a bottle of water and a carrying case when I only purchased the bottle. This was cleared up at the purser's desk prior to disembarkation. Dining: Breakfast: The selection and quality compared to the bigger cruise lines like Carnival and Norwegian was about equal. I did not have to really wait in line for an omelet. I stuck to the outdoor grill area in the back as I enjoy eating breakfast in the quiet area with some fresh air. Lunch: I did not really try out the lunch buffet food as I was not in the mood for anything offered on day 1. Instead I opted for a burger and fries. Not bad. On day 2 I ate lunch on the island instead of on the ship. Dinner: On night 1 I tried out Admiral's Steak and Seafood. The $33 cover charge gives you 1 appetizer, 1 soup/salad, 1 entree (some premium items cost additional), 2 sides, and 1 dessert. The food was very good and well worth the money. On night 2 I tried out the Yellow Elder dining room. I was surprised you only get 1 appetizer, 1 entree, and 1 dessert. I sometimes like to order other items on the menu to try out. Nonetheless, the portions were proper and the food was very good. I left satisfied and not hungry. I was surprised to find out that the eating dinner in the buffet was not an option as I would have loved to try that out if it was offered too. Entertainment and Activities: I did not have much of an opportunity to try out many of the activities. I did see both shows which I thought were pretty good. The acrobatic pair featured in the shows was amazing. Freeport, Bahamas: I booked the Crystal Beach swimming with the pigs shore excursion. The beach the excursion goes to was a small and well kept hole-in-the-wall off the beaten path that was not loud and overcrowded. The food and drinks were a bit pricey and it took a while for my order to be made. The pigs were brought out halfway during the excursion and we got to spend some time with them. Final Thoughts: Comparing how this cruise line operates versus the big league they seem to strive to operate at the big league level. They do some of the things a bit differently with their booking (couldn't look up existing booking or make reservations online), embarkation (could reserve dining, shore excursions, and spa right before boarding), dining, and disembarkation. There was a little bit of a learning curve as I have been used to sailing on the big league lines and on the newer and larger ships. It was refreshing to finally sail after all these years on a smaller vessel and not have to do a ton of walking to get to the other parts of the ship. The cruise was not fully booked, so the ship was not crowded and it was nice to not have to always wait in long lines or wait for a deck chair or dining table. While I feel there is still some need for polishing and improving, I felt what I paid for was worth it and for the most part I did have a pleasant cruise. I might consider coming back on this cruise line at a later time. Given that they now operate two ships, I would also be interested if they also offered 3 and 4 day cruises going to either Nassau, Key West, Cozumel, Havana, or just an extra day at sea. Read Less

(A little about the reviewer: A long-time cruiser and cruise fan. Disney Platinum, Celebrity Elite, Royal Caribbean Diamond, MSC Black, many cruises on Carnival, Norwegian, also cruises on Holland American, Costa, Princess and several other cruise lines/ships.) Embarkation process was quick and easy. The Port of Palm Beach provides valet parking for all guest making parking a breeze. The luggage personal was friendly and helpful. Check-in was quick. The whole process from arriving to check-in was about 15-20 minutes. After check-in, there is an opportunity to make dinning reservations, book shore excursions, register children for the children’s programs, get spa information and make other arrangements. This setup is convenient. Cabin 7096 was in a good location and was a good size. It made for a good solo traveler cabin. It had lots of storage, both hanging space and drawer space. The bathroom was an average cruise ship size with storage under sink and plenty of counter space. There is one European style electrical outlet. (Be sure to bring your converter.) The steward was attentive and did a good job. Dinning was a pleasurable experience. The servers were attentive and made sure you had all you needed and wanted. The leadership team was always around to take care of the guest and their staff. The Yellow Elder is an attractive dining room and has nice views. Buffet food was good. The Oceanview Buffet is small in size but proportional to the size of the ship. The smaller buffet area means fewer choices but what was provided was good. An ice cream machine is located in the buffet area. Just aft of the Oceanview Buffet, The Rock Grill provides good omelets for breakfast and hamburgers, hot dogs, etc. for lunch. The buffet crew provides good service and good food. Entertainment on the Grand Classica was good and is on par with other major cruise lines. The production shows in the Legends Grand Theater were of high quality. The preforming groups in the Encore Lounge were enjoyable and relaxing to listen to. The Crow’s Nest Sports Bar & Grill has the best views on the Grand Classica. It also has electronic games (air hockey, darts, basketball, skeeball, car racing, a pool table) and about a dozen TV’s to watch games. Bar service crew was attentive and quick. Guest Services/Reception Desk was always helpful and courteous. Disembarkation was smooth and quick. Guest can get off the ship starting at about 7:30 or at their leisure up until about 9:00. Once outside the terminal, the valet brings your vehicle to the covered area quickly. Exiting the cruise port area is simple. Bottom line on the BPCL Grand Classica is a positive +++ recommendation. The Grand Classica is a classy classic ship. Just remember this is a $129.00pp cruise and not a $2000.00pp cruise. I plan on booking it again soon. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it was short and the price was really good. There was a different main show each night, the first night was Soul well done and so enjoyable. Then my favorite was the Blitz,, (the 2nd night), it was absolutely fantastic. All 4 of us loved every bit of it. In the lounge we saw Sax and songs which we enjoyed and the next day we saw Tina Turner Experience and loved it. The food at the restaurant was truly delicious, The waiter, Alexander was superb. The buffet had everything we could want to eat and unfortunately I made a pig of myself when we boarded and lunch was waiting for us. We never had to leave the ship cruise this time and had a wonderful time. The staff every seemed pleased to be there for us. They were friendly, helpful and did their best to please us. Before leaving the ship when we got back, we ate breakfast at the restaurant and was not disappointed in the least. When the coffe was low in my cup, they were there. We will be going again and again. Great job crew of the Grand Classica. Read Less

We went in th grand classica, the moment that you get your cabin cards the are trying to sell you stuff and if you say no they get mad and push you to buy things. They wanted us to buy the dinner for $33 per person per night which we didnt buy because it was the same food that was included in the cruise fare, they want to sit you with someone else for dinner however if you ask to be sitted alone they accomodate you. The food was extremely bad like I’ve never tasted and seen such bad food in my life. The excursion of the jeep was amazing and very worth it and the deal of 10 drinks for 70+taxes was good. The drinks itself are not that good tasted kind of bad and more water and ice than alcohol. Also they did not have buffet 24 hours, the dinning included in the cruise fare the waitresses were not helpful at all and not interested in making the experience comfortable. The only thing I can say I feel it was worth paying and that I enjoyed to the fullest was the Jeep excursion it was amazing every bit of it. As per this cruis I will definitely NOT be coming back. Took this cruise as a quick family getaway. We live locally yet we have never tried this ship. We are experienced cruisers having taken all the major cruise lines at some point. Check in (shoreside) was a little bit on the slow side (they were having issues using their tablets to take pics of our passports) but once that was done we grabbed a boarding picture, confirmed our dining table and we were onboard! I recommend getting your drink package online when you book. This will save you time. Staff will try to hound you about buying a drink package once onboard but all I had to say was I already purchased one. Booked a Suite which was worth the extra money. The room was large, clean & cold a/c. The ship herself is old school and in a good way. Beautifully appointed, attentive staff, nothing looked worn or beat up. She felt like a mega private yacht than a budget cruise ship....my feelings anyway. Meals were excellent. Good variety in the Buffett. Food was flavorful & hot. Main dining room & staff took pride in their service. Dinners were excellent. For an extra charge I ordered a small Filet (steak) which as good as any major steakhouse (Capitol Grille, Mortons, etc). The pizza is really good even though charges apply. Our family likes to game and we found the Casino to be clean and staff pleasant. Both nights we would take over a Blackjack table prior to the show and then afterwards. And reasonable prices. They offer $5.00 & $10.00 minimum tables. Try finding that at Hard Rock.....yeah, good luck! The onboard entertainment was suprisingly very good. Both nights we enjoyed an excellent show. I think the only way that could have topped their performance is if they had a live orchestra but you'll be hard pressed to find one even on the major lines nowadays. I won't really comment on Freeport since my focus is the ship experience. The area is still pretty beat up from Hurricane Matthew back in 2016. Since we (wife & I) booked a Suite we were invited (they later allowed my entire family...13 persons total) to visit the Bridge while we were docked at Freeport. Then to top it off they allowed us to remain on the Bridge while we maneuvered out of our slip and proceed out the main channel. Captain Hansen was a riot doing pull ups on his chin up bar that is welded to the ceiling of the Starboard bridge wing!.....no joke! He was completely professional but also didn't take himself too seriously. He loves to entertain. He made sure we were involved and had a great experience. He even made my Aunt press the ship's horn ( 3 times for astern) when we backed out from the dock. It was an incredible. We all left the Bridge feeling like celebrities. If nothing more book a Suite for this experience alone! Especially if you're a ship buff like myself. Overall our experience was an excellent one! Our expectations were more than met. As a result we are looking forward to a return trip in January 2019. Kudos & accolades to the ship, her officers & crew for providing outstanding service. So, if you're even slightly interested in going then go! Read Less

First off let me say I was set on not liking the ship because I love her sister ship the Celebration. However with that said she sure did change my mind. I brought 3 of my granddaughters along with their boyfriends and we were originally going to sail on the Celebration. So this was not my first choice and I didn't think my girls would like it. But I was wrong. I purchased the Concierge package for everyone and it worked well as it always does on the Celebration. Ok back to the Classica, the food, we tried all the upcharge restaurants. We went to the wine tasting which was part of the package so they had samples of the pizza and it was to die for. So we did the pizza in the afternoon. The best pizza and I am of Italian heritage and I can't say enough good things about it. We tried the Rock Grill and that was a dining experience into itself. Great tender steaks and seafood. They do a presentation and the kids loved it. So now I have to critique the Admirals Club that was somewhat of a disappointment and here is why. On the Celebration the main dining rooms Stellar Prime and the Admiralty Club are very nice. Dark wood paneling, frosted glass dividers and big picture windows. First off the Admirals on the Classica is way too small to accomodate the concierge people and the overflow went to the Yellow Elder. Neither one of the dining rooms were nice looking. I am shocked because the rest of the ship is so elegant. They need to move the Admirals Dining Room to another part of the ship and make it as special as the Celebration dining rooms. Another criticism is the suites. The marble bathroom is beautiful and so it the balcony but the suites themselves are shabby looking at best. Unless they redecorate the suites, the next time I sail on the Classica I'll just take a regular cabin. I highly recommend this ship. I will sail on her again. I know this cruise line listens to their passengers and I know they will make the improvements I just mentioned because they probably have heard them before. One last thing, when they owned the little ferry ship the Bahamas Celebration, there was a cruise direction name Steve Zimmerman. Well, he was the greatest and they in their infinite wisdom brought him back as their comedian. They need to make him the cruise director again because I don't know who their cruise director is but I sure know Steve Zimmerman. Great time and can't wait to do it again. Read Less

Out the door price was just under $400 after taxes, fees, and tips for two of us. We were expecting much worse. If you want a 5 star cruise then you need to pay 5 star prices. If you are looking for a short and cheap cruise to the Bahamas then I would suggest this one. Bur please remember that you get what you pay for. Do not expect a 5 star cruise with 5 star dining and 5 star amenities. The only negative (not the cruise-lines fault) was a couple that were arguing very loudly late at night. But after a call it was dealt with quickly. They had upgrades available for dining and beverages like every other cruise line. Read Less

It seems like the crew is encouraged to make sure everyone has a good time. The bed was very comfortable. The ship is older without the bells and whistles of the newer ships, but the cabin with ocean view is very comfortable. Dining can be freestyle if you wish. Cruised on the Grand Classica 9/10/2018 to 9/12/2018 WoW! That basically sums it up. My wife and I have completed 70+ cruises. Every cruise line on the South East coast of Florida except Disney. 5 years ago we tried the Bahama Celebration and it was terrible to say the least. It changed ownership and the Grand Celebration went to the Bahamas to be a hotel for the hurricane victims. Then it went to the yards for a makeover. What a change. This cruise was on the Grand Classica and WoW again. Two totally different decors. Grand Celebration is lively with lots of marble shiny floors and a lot of brass. Beautiful! These ships are very old and have been upgraded to beauty. The Grand Classica has the old ship charm of a lot of wood. Beautiful wood varnished railings vs brass and the floors entering the buffet are varnished wood. So clean and shiny. Wood used beautifully everywhere. Yes there are marble floors also, but to a minimum. Even our bathroom had a Teak looking flooring. So nice. Not plastic. As for the bath room. Much more roomier that normal cruise lines. What was excellent was the pocket door for the bath room. So going in and out you have no worry about hitting someone with a normal swinging door. The sink counter top is marble and very large. As is the sink and the nice faucet. Hot water almost instantly. It is not a squeeze cramped space at all. Our room was an ocean view with a very nice large round porthole window. The bed and linen was very nice. The towels are extra thick. Nice gold yellow color. If you look out the window on other ships you will see a lot of rust. Not on this ship. Yes there are sections that need a bit of work. But considering the age of this ship. It almost looks brand new. Looking on the out side. The ship is so shiny white and I saw no rust as on many other ships. Every day everywhere there are crew members cleaning everything. Non stop. At the buffet there was a person posted outside of the bathroom. Constantly making sure it was spotless and it was. All the public bathrooms were very, very nice. Colors were excellent and new looking. Now the food. Very good buffet and grill. Burgers are super big. Several selections of sausage not only hot dogs. What is nice about the buffet are the small narrow containers for the food. Not much in them but many next to one another and the food stays hot. Because they are small. Fresh replacements happen a lot faster than on other ships. Breakfast is standard and very good. Complementary dining is very good. My wife had the salmon, so big she could not eat everything. She loved everything. The second night I ordered the NY 12 oz. strip steak. It arrived fast and perfect. I really think it was 14 oz. it was so big. Delicious and very tender. $18.00 + 18% but well worth it. As for the crew. Unbelievable on both ships. So wonderful, helpful and smiling. Could not have been more pleasant. Many other cruise lines need a crew like they have. That is what makes the cruise wonderful. The two shows were good but the magician was fantastic. So many things to do while at sea. Not much on the ship to do in port. Relax, do the hot tub or pool, get some sun. Bingo was almost a wash out. Mon-Wed cruise only 250 guests. Casino, lots of new slot machines that are NOT on other ships. Nice to see different games. Two pools and hot tubs. Very nice and clean. Lounges everywhere. I mean everywhere. Before paying to see the comedian I strongly suggest you hear him at the two shows prior to purchasing tickets. Getting on and off the ship. Super fast and easy. One suggestion was a shuttle at the island dock to take you to the other side of the dock where all the action is. Otherwise you walk. It is a little distance, only thing if it starts raining. At one time they docked on the other side. The live music was excellent, singers were excellent and the drinks are super strong. Worth the price for sure. Those that will be cursing for the very first time. Read, read, read everything on their website so you are not blindsided on the extra charges. Most ALL cruise lines charge close to the same. One thing to remember. Your gratuity for each one in the cabin is NOT just for your room steward to turn down the bed. Remember, that is not all he does for you. The room is spotless for you. He makes up the room and makes sure you have clean towels for the next day. Turns down the bed that night and brings you all the papers you need for daily planning. It is for everyone that takes care of you on that ship. It is divided. Also in the buffet and dining rooms. If you request ice. He will make sure you have it full at all times. A small price to pay to be treated like royalty. I do recommend these two ships. A great price for a great experience and enjoyment. Usually you get what you pay for. In this case you get more than what you pay for. Most of the time they offer great deals. WE are only one hour from the port. So we will e doing more fill-ins with these two ships for sure. Happy cruising. Bon voyage. Read Less

chose this cruise for price & quick getaway being local. Food was not bad for cruise food. While the buffett was closed due to the low passenger rate they wouldn't even give us the courtesy of a cookie. We basically had the ship to ourselves being only 200 passengers on this cruise. Room was very clean & ship was being cleaned every minute 24/7. We did get the massage specials since we chose to not debark in Bahamas. $68 special was well worth the experience. Only complaint was we were inconvenienced first night due to no air conditioning. While our steward called maintenance 3 times no one showed up. Going to the desk to change rooms we wasted more time for this missing the shows for first night. Belen at customer service was not the least bit interested to compensate us with an room upgrade (which would have been good business since there were only 200 passengers & 450 rooms) or at least a drink coupon for our trouble. This left a bad taste considering …… The shows were actually very good for a 2 night cruise & very sorry for the performers that there were so few people aboard to enjoy them. I would definitely take this cruise again due to being a local & looking for a get out of town to relax. Read Less

The ship is old but it’s been done up to have modern features, however the cabin my boyfriend and I were staying in was located above the engine so when we were docking at both ports we were unpleasantly woken by the engine noise at 5.30/6am. The entertainment was awful, apart from the comedian which we were charged an extra $9 to see - even he was joking about how ‘crappy’ this ship is. We were unable to sit on the top deck without being constantly harassed to buy an $80 drink package. Eventually, after seeing that an 18% service charge is added to each drink, we gave in and decided to get the drinks package as it seemed better value. However we misunderstood the deal and it turned out we would get a lot less for our money than it seemed so my boyfriend asked for a refund which they finally unwillingly gave us. There’s nothing to do on the ship and the day we got to the Bahamas there was a tropic storm so we only spent 20 minutes exploring before having to seek shelter in a shop for the remainder of the day. The food is ok but only one of the restaurants is free to eat at and so it was overcrowded and lacked good service. A bottle of water cost nearly $5. Our room was really clean and the shower was surprisingly powerful. We were charged just over $50 each for gratuities including housekeeping and FUEL CHARGE (!?) Lastly, we had to wait an hour and a half to get through U.S customs when we got back in Florida (although this is nothing to do with the ship). If you are planning to go on this cruise then be prepared to spend A LOT of extra money and be charged for everything. You are better off paying for a more expensive cruise line because you will probably end up spending the same amount on this ship. Read Less

Much Older but refurnished vessel. It’s clean and staff is very friendly. The Staterooms were larger than expected. The dining hours and locations are confusing. The entertainment on deck is kinda lame. I found myself constantly comparing them to Carnival and Royal Caribbean. It’s such a downgrade, even the comedian called this cruise line the “Greyhound” of the Sea. The comedian and magician were the best acts, we witnessed. We experienced a Tropical Storm in Bahamas so spent the day on the ship. Which was tough, not much to do with two 16 year olds. I won’t travel on Paradise Cruiseline, ever again. The port offers absolutely NOTHING.. industrial area in Freeport. And it’s lacking a variety onboard, from food, activities, and etc. You get what you pay for!!! Spend the extra money to have more options and better entertainment on and off the cruise vessel. Please and Thank You! Read Less

This was the worse cruise ever. My husband and I decided to take a 2 day cruise with our children so they xould experience whats it like being on a cruise. My children had a horrible time and was crying ready to go back home. I felt awful because it was my childrens first time cruising and I wanted them to enjoy this cruise. When we first arrived the lunch meal was ok very bland but ut was ok. ALL the drink was horrible. The next norning the breakfast was horrible seemed like they was serving us old food. Everything was pretty much hard and stale. The lunch was horrible the burgers swimming in grease, sausage and hot dogs swimming in grease, the fries and ice cream was pretty much the only thing good. Dinner was horrible as well. The first night I ordered salmon and rice with vegetables the rice was sooo mushi. The second night i had the steak and spinach tomatoes with steak fries. The steak tasted like beef jerky, just hard and dry. Forgot to mention when i first got on the cruise and ate when they said our rooms was ready hours later my husband and i and our 3 kids one being in a stroller got stuck in the elevator for about 20 mins with another passenger my kids was crying and scared and me and my youngest baby cant be in tight area for long periods if time so u started having panic attacks smh and was sweating. They gave ne a bottle of nasty wine but all the other drinks on board was horrible. I did buy a sprite here and there but when i seen them adding 18% for each drink i just was like wow this is crazy drinks are akready $2.95 as is. Then i had a card issue i forgot to mention to ny bank i was going out of town so i guess when they tried to take 147 out my account for gratiuluties on my account my bank messaged me asking me was i aware of the charges then we got to deep in the water i lost service. Front desk was kinda rude abiut the situation telling me all i have to do is take out money from the atm its onky a 8.00 fee like no that is entirety to much money. The guy at the desk was more worried about just being paid smh. I had to get 2 rooms because of it being 5 of us. 1 of my rooms bathroom smelt so horrible we had to smell that for 2 days. That same room my sheets had sooo much hair and crumbs on my bed, ehich is just nasty. I called guest services they did come change my sheets but still thst should have been done before i arrived. Now my other room had someones boxers that must of got kicked under the bed and here my 1 year old bringing them to me smh i just freaked out smh thats nasty. Its not much for the kids to do on the cruise so we pretty much stayed in our room. The food was horrible the cruise was just horrible i spent over 1,000 and i just feel like this cruise was a huge scam. They chatge for everything. That 147 gratuity they took out my account they should have just left in my account the room was not ready and nasty so it was pointless for them to take the money out and im a believer of everyone getting tipped for there hard work but this was just nasty. The food was the worse but the fries and icecream so thats what my family pretty much ate. Very very disappointed. I had a few friends talking about going but i will tell them to stay far away.. It’s was a nightmare. Getting harassed to buy a drink package we didn’t want . Every 5 mins until you finally buy at 80 dollars then your charged 3 dollars each time you get a drink. the staff is incredibly rude and incompetent no one wants to do their job and staff does not look happy to be there. as soon a i got on the ship they where giving us the run around we added a credit card just for them to constantly asking us about information on the card then one lady said cash only so they took 200 of our cash and still used our credit card for over 400 dollars after they said they wouldn't charge our card. then when it came to the excursions they told us to meet at the top deck once we got there they staff told us to go back down wrong floor (they made an mistake) and we almost missed our tour bus and we were extremely late holding everyone else up the staff got made at us and started screaming when in all reality it was there fault!!! comedy show and entertainment show was boring as hell there nothing to do on the ship. we paid and extra 50 dollars for a queen sized bed and it was two twin beds push together we could barely sleep together on our anniversary! the staff was no helpful and very very rude we sat at dinner and couldn't even have an conversation the waiters rush you to eat and a wine guy in pushing his wine package on you we told him no several times and he continue to harass us. customer service there is no help there loss their themselves the ruined what would've been a great cruise for our time anniversary dont book oh and the charge 60 dollars for two room service and they didn't even clean the room! and the charge to get on and off the ship every little thing they charge for! restaurants are nasty 0 stars if i could Read Less

I'd seen a lot of negative reviews before going, but I always take reviews with a grain of salt, usually disregarding the 5-stars and the 1-stars and concentrating on the middle range. I would put this ship/cruise solidly in the 3.5-star rating leaning towards 4. It was an exceptional deal for 2 nights away, especially as a solo-traveler, I can't say that it would have been the same if their had been 2 people going, since that borders into more nights on most other lower cost lines. But I got a clean well kept ocean view cabin for ~$210 including taxes as mentioned by u/ravrnorl, this was over the weekend so there was plenty of partying to do, there where also plenty of places to escape the party and just relax if that is your preference. The cabin was clean and had all the amenities a similarly priced room on land would have, though I do recommend taking your own shower stuff, its a single pump all in one gel there. But I tend to take my own personal items wherever I go, so it wasn't an issue to me. The entertainment is well fairly entertaining and lots of different options, definitely worth checking out if you're bored with the activities going on up on the top decks. As mentioned the buffet is, a buffet.. its a lot of quickly made food to serve a lot of quickly lining up people, but the MDR and Admirals room are both really good, with excellent service and friendly helpful staff so I definitely recommend it over the buffet when it fits into your schedule. Freeport itself was pretty fun, though I didn't like the trip to the Lucayan Resort.. it was fine aside from the parents yelling at their kids for "causing a scene" when all I actually noticed was the parents causing a scene #ghettolife, but its not like that doesn't happen everywhere something is cost effective. I did enjoy the market there, and wandered around the docks/market for most of the day after I left the resort. Personally if you want a tour and something to do, I'd schedule the tour ride to the market and just skip the resort option. There are more excursions available on the docks that will still have you back in time to get to the ship by 4:30pm. Onboard, I met a bunch of really cool people and we talked about a varying spectrum of interests, all in all everyone was pretty friendly and interactive. Cons: In the end the only real big "Con" for me was that it is definitely short (2 days afk is not really enough), and there are some people that expect too much from their low cost cruise and/or treat their kids like poorly but again that happens everywhere and isn't exclusive to this cruise line (or life on land for that matter). There was definitely an issue with the tap-water (which is used to make all the mixes in the buffet area too) .. It's terrible. It doesn't taste like it's unclean, but more like it's over-cleaned.. that being said, its exactly the same flavor as the tap water in West Palm Beach, so I'm thinking that's due to them just using the city water to fill up and not adding any additional filtration. So I definitely recommend paying the $4 it costs for 32oz of bottled water. Read Less

We booked this cruise through a travel agency group at a great deal of $79 dollars per person. We thought that was a great deal so we jumped on it. It was ok really and for a test cruise which is what we used it for, to see if we could do a bigger cruise, it in itself was ok. But, the food was not so great. The better food was an up charge of course. Everything cost extra on the boat. Not much for kids to do there. A pool so small that I thought it was the hot tub at first. My son got to play ping pong on one of the two tables there one time before it was taken over by a large pack of 20 something kids that were rude and unruly. We saw a room where kids were playing video games, my son is 9 and asked if he could play but was told no because the games were for 13 to 17 year olds. I said why not shut the door then so other kids can’t see it? The smell of marijuana covered the entire ship pretty much anytime we left our room. I asked a staff member if anything could be done about it, but was told that he did not see a problem with it. My husband is a truck driver and is drug tested regularly, there was definitely a problem with it. We did an excursion to the Grand Lucayan resort, that was the best part of the whole cruise. The resort was beautiful! We had an issue with the on board cruise bucks where they closed our account which took an hour to resolve because of the language barriers between the me and the staff member at guest service desk. All in all, we made a good time out of it given what we had to work with. I will definitely not be back on the Grand Classica. Here’s to hoping our next cruise is better!! Read Less

Chose the trip as a first cruise for my wife. 2 days on the water is a safe way to determine if a longer Alaska or Eupopean cruise would work. Everything from the booking process through the disembarkation was smooth. The ship is older and has been refitted so it looks and feels modern. The cabin was nice, I jab a lower deck outside cabin that had a HUGE round port hole window. Queen sized bed, side tables, and a small TV (for what?) were in the room. The fridge wasn’t up to par and the head of housekeeping offered us an ice chest but we settled on a constant supply of fresh ice and that worked well. We ate at the Admiralty on the first night, which was an upgraded dining option but checked out the Ocean Buffet which looked substantial on its own. Night 2 we ate at the Rock Grill, on our next trip I’ll try to finagle the Admiralty both nights. The shows are so-so BUT the Adult comedian on our trip (Lou Remy) had the audience rolling in the aisles. If you’ve been to Freeport and hit Port Lucaya then there’s no need to spend anything on the excursions. I’m already planning our next Grand Classica trip. . Read Less

Price This was a perfect getaway cruise. I originally saw it as a groupon offer but by the time I made up my mind... sold out!! anyway I went to the source and found that a solo traveler did not have to pay the total cost of the room. Interesting . . . so I made that my choice. There was also a free $50 on board spending voucher that I received. Nice!! And yes I traveled alone. Alone but not lonely, It was a getaway trip after all. Embarkation The embarkation process was ok. Not a big hassle, I bought the drinks package. It did not make sense because you get a small glass at a time and the cost does not compute since there are drinks provided otherwise. Would not buy that again. I might as well buy just the one or two that I did end up drinking. The rooms are not ready until around 2-3 pm but you can choose to have the included lunch until the rooms open up. If you checked your bag, it will be delivered to your room after around 3pm. I would still pack a change of clothes or whatever I may need to use once I get in the room in my backpack next time. Staff/ Crew/ Service The staff/ crew were excellent in their customer service. Friendly smiling faces. I did not need much, but I was constantly being offered assistance. Food/ Dining I chose to take the offered dining choice included. Yellow Elder Dining Room. Very nice room. The bread was cold, they did warm it up for whoever chose that. The food was ok, not great, but I would not complain about it. The omlettes in the morning were the bomb tho. Entertainment Cannot speak on that. . . I did not partake. There was however always something to do. Most times for a price. I took walks around the ship, took in the views and that was fine for my getaway. Return Trip? Absolutely yes!! . I would absolutely go again. It is what it is and I enjoyed the experience. The cost was good, especially for a single traveler who wanted space. I thought an ocean view room for the price of one was great! Read Less

Please read the entire review, ignoring my age my what i say is entirely true. I choose this cruise because I and my family found a discount on Groupon for it. The overall price was about $800 for my parents and my sister. Embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly. The ship was tiny. The pool is so small that at first, I thought it was a hot tub. There isn't much stuff for people under 18 to do. I am 12 years old, and when my family was away, I had to stay at a kids club. It was horrible. The ages are 3-6, 7-12, 13-17. I couldn't go to the 13-17 club because they were mostly 17, and the 7-12 club was mostly 7-year-olds! It was such a depressing time. The room was so cramped. When I went, all I did was blow a balloon, draw a face on it, and pop it, watch a movie and that's it. I hated it. I made sure I didn't go back there. Also, the cabins were okay. They were pretty small on the most part and the ocean view was very tiny. My suitcase was bigger than the window. The bathroom was also okay. Very small. The shower was so small, that all you had room for was yourself and a washcloth, which I guess it the purpose. Also, DO NOT BE FOOLED by the squares you get in a package that says "deodorant." its actual soap. The soap dispenser in the actual shower is shampoo. Dining could've been better. All the food tasted bland, except for taco night. The rest tasted like old chewing gum. I would suggest dining at the Yellow Elder if you want some quality food. Entertainment is mostly reserved for adults and the service is awful. The only thing that was on the menu for room service was a Turkey Sandwich. Seriously?? Excursions were too expensive for the product. I went to Lucaya beach in the Bahamas and that was fun. There was a pool on a cliff right next to the beach and a DJ. The marketplace in the Bahamas was confusing. Many people had the same products at different prices. When you start walking away, they start lowering the prices, begging you to come back. Make sure to get what your money is worth. I don't plan on coming back at all. That's all I have to say. Peace out. Read Less
