Spring break girls cruise with daughter and granddaughter was everything we hoped for and more. Cozumel is beautiful and a tourist driven economy means they go the extra mile. We never felt unsafe and we cruised almost the entire island in a Dune Buggy. Very fun. The cruise director Deon and Fun Squad (Andy) just made the time on board an absolute blast. The food was good and always something available, from pizza to Guy's Burgers, burritos and made to order sandwiches and the Buffett was real good. The show was entertaining and the comedy club a lot of laughs. The Captain and Officers even came to Lido for extended photo op and waited until everyone who wanted pics with them had a chance to do so. The Wi-Fi worked most of the trip and the Carnival Hub was really helpful. If you have a bad time on this cruise it's on you! Would recommend and go again in a heartbeat. Read Less

I absolutely love my Carnival Cruises. You get a warm welcome as soon as you embark on the ship. Everyone is smiling and waiting to answer your questions. We traveled to Cayman Islands and Jamaica with 2 days of sea days. Our stateroom steward was very friendly and I love how he memorized all our names. The cabin was clean but there when my husband took a shower the bathroom floor flooded. There was a hole on the floor and they had duck tape to cover it. They should do a better job with repairs. I signed my 12 year old daughter for camp but she refused to attend it. I think they should have more entertainment for teenagers. We went to our sit down dinner every night and the food was really good and the service was impeccable. Carnival does an outstanding job making sure their employees provides outstanding service and that is important for me. We did not do excursions at Cayman Island or Jamaica, however, we did get off the ship and took a taxi to the nearest beach at both destinations.Disembarkation day was horrible. The ship was unable to dock in Miami at the scheduled 8:00 am time because of rough waters. This delayed our disembarkation by many hours thus leaving us to sit around waiting for them to call our cabin floor. Once we got off the ship we had to stand in line for about half an hour to go down to get our luggage and go through customs. Overall, the service of the employees was outstanding. I know that these people leave their countries for months without seeing their families and they work diligently all day and night to service us, the customers. I appreciate each and everyone of them and you can best believe that my next cruise will be with Carnival !! As a matter of fact, I booked a cruise to Cozumel on Carnival Paradise in May!! I'm almost shocked at some of these reviews.. Knowing I was on the ship at the same time as some of the people who gave negative reviews! I never smelt sewage on this ship, I went between all floors, and never smelt it once. I promise you I am very sensitive to smell and would have noticed. This was my first cruise so i cannot compare this ship to any others. I 100% enjoyed myself and having been back for only 2 weeks I am already trying to find people to book another trip with. The only bad experience I had was Jamaica. The people on the island who harass you ruin the experience. Not the ships fault, but I would never go back to Jamaica for this reason. My family could not even talk to each other due to getting interrupted every couple minutes. My room was always spotless and the cleaning staff remember your name and address you every time they see you. The food was acceptable. The burger place was the highlight of the food options. My daughters booked this cruise for themselves and several college friends and I tagged along. I was reading the reviews after she booked and got very worried! We've been on Carnival cruise before but never this ship. I literally imagined I was going to be stepping into a sewage filled, awful smelling, very very very old, dated ship with disgusting food and boring entertainment. Let me ASSURE you~ this is NOT the case! 1st off- embarkation was a breeze. We were at the Miami port. We selected a 12;30-1;00 arrival time but decided to get to the the port early- hoping there was a slim chance they'd let us on early. We arrived at 11:15, were immediately sent through the line, checked in and ON the ship eating lunch at 11;45. Super easy, fast, friendly process. We stayed in inside state rooms (1st time -had ocean suite before) - 3 of us in each room. We stayed in R59 and R63. I was pleasantly surprised by how much room we had. Tons of storage space - 2 huge closets with a safe and suitcases all fit nicely under the beds. Rooms very clean. Beds were very comfortable and made up every night -I slept on the twin trundle that pulled down. I'm not sure I'd ever spend the money on a suite again as it's double the price. We were never in the room anyways! Dion was the cruise director and this guy is truly passionate about his job. He is highly entertaining, engaging and hilarious in every single aspect. Thank you Dion!! Hidy Ho~ I gotta Go! The buffet food was plentiful and tasty~ Im not a huge fan of buffets but so many choices- never had a problem finding something I liked. Pizza open 24 hours. Guys Burgers were a big hit with all the teens. The sit downs were fabulous- some of the best salmon I've ever tasted. The only complaint is that the portions were very small in comparison to our last cruise. A few nights, we ended up scarfing down pizza about an hour later because we were still hungry! The game show was a riot, the comedians were fabulous and the other shows were fun too! We chose the express check out- carried our own luggage out so we could get off ship quickly. Left at 7:45 am. Took about 15 minutes from leaving our room to stepping into our shuttle back to the hotel. This is a fantastic cruise for the money. I would highly recommend it for 1st time cruises or if on a tight budget. The ship is clean, the staff is amazing, you will get so much bang for your buck. Read Less

We choose this cruise as we wanted to go on a New Year's Eve cruise. It was a little pricey for 5 days, but for this time of year it was expected. I had read the reviews about the ship, so I was a little concerned about the wear and tear. I was pleasantly surprised, our room was fine and the décor & seating around the ship looked good. The place that really needs a lot of attention is the windows, a majority were very dirty. We had an ocean view room and you could see the build up in the corners. Our stateroom steward, Leo, was very attentive to us. The quilt on my daughter's bed had a mark on it and he changed it right away. Our cabin was perfect for us and very clean. For the entertainment, our cruise director, Deon, truly made the trip enjoyable. He is so energetic and made us laugh with his quick wit. The events at the atrium bar on the Empress deck were the best. I hope he will be the director on our next cruise. For the food, it was good. There were a couple of nights we ordered surf and turf from the speciality menu ($$) as the nightly options and standard menu did not have choices we liked. Our hospitality crew was great. Arnel, our head waiter, was fantastic!!!1 For our port stop in Ocho Rios, we did an ATV excursion booked through Carnival. I wanted to do something that my husband would enjoy. This was the best excursion, we all had a great time, the ride was about an hour and a half through trails and back roads. Prior to heading out, they offered us the option to pre-order lunch (jerk chicken) that arrived shortly after we returned from the ride. As this is a staple in Jamaica, we got it. It was really delicious and I suggest getting it. Another fun part of the excursion was the jump off a cliff into the ocean. My daugther did it 3 times. She loved it. If we ever go back to Ocho Rios, we would do this excursion again. Remember to take tip money with you as we had 3 guides with us. I would recommend to have small bills as there is a store where you can buy drinks and souvenirs, but she didn't have much change. We also stopped in Grand Cayman, where we walked around the town and got lunch on the water. We love this port. Overall, we loved everything about this cruise. It was a little pricey for only being 5 days. Read Less

Boarding was as smooth as could be I swear it only took 15 min and we were onboard. The staff was all so friendly and helpful. A few stood out tremendously. Milton and William were amazing bar tenders at the Blue Iguana bar! Our room stewardess Okra was always available and kept everything so clean. Our cruise director Kevin was so funny. He really kept the crowd entertained! Also all the live music, comedy shows and nightclub was so much fun! Our favorite musician on board was Sam Fisher. He’s a must see! Uriel assisted us at the medical center and was very helpful. The food was great and are cabin was bigger than expected. We had a large ocean view window room. The day at sea was also very enjoyable with lots of entertainment! I would highly recommend this cruise ship! Also I recommend getting the Cheers package of you drink it was worth the money! We had a great cruise. Some things we normally receive have been discontinued, chocolates on pillow, smaller portions in MDR. We had a great time. Kevin the Cruise Director was great, Adrian our favorite bartender never let us down. Juno was an excellent waiter in the MDR. This was our second cruise on Sensation, and the ship is older but still had a blast. Staff was friendly. Husband and I are both Veterans and went to the Veterans Service on Veterans Day and it was great. So many amazing veterans on the ship. Bang Bang BK was great as Bingo caller and as part of the entertainment staff. Will definitely continue to cruise with Carvnival Curise Line. We like to cruise on the smaller ships so we will just have to deal with the older ships with less of the modern services. All in all Carnival still gets our vaction dollars. Read Less

I've booked on carnival in the past but this was by far one of the best experiences I've ever had on board. I planned this cruise as a great getaway for both my husband as well as myself. We got on board and was immediately welcomed by the staff on board as well as our stateroom steward Mr. Pierre. Every night when we would come back to our room everything was clean. Our beds were made every night. The shower was clean, the bathroom was clean and sanitized. Mr. Pierre made sure that we felt right at home. The crew worked very hard, and they accommodated us very well. The omelets on the Lido deck were my favorite, and there was so much to choose from day to day. I couldn't speak more highly of my service team in the Ecstacy dining area, they were phenomenal. Special thanks to Mr.Nelson(Headwaiter), Mr. Setiawan, and Mr.Besim. You guys were awesome! Next time I book it will be back on this same ship, and I hope that I meet these same wonderful people. Read Less

No lobster offeredto on regular menu unless you paid extra. Service was really good. Love Carnival but not the Sensation. It needs some major renovations. It was also hard to get around...confusing floor plan. This was our 13th cruise so we had a lot to compare it to. Love our ports of call! Nassau, Half moon cay and Grand Turk. The entertainment was ok. Really wished they did more around the pool such as the 1 dance party. Did not really feel the Cruise director Kevin interacted with the guest that much. Only time we saw him was during actual events for a short time. Really like how easy embarkation and disinformation was. Great improvement over other cruises we have done. Read Less

We have been on different cruise lines and different Carnival ships and to my shock, this was the best cruise I've ever been on. This was a cruise for just myself and my son to celebrate his college graduation. This was a hurricane season trip so for one, we took a gamble because this was a great value. Secondly, a few days before sailing we were offered an upsell from our deck 5 mid ship ocean view to an Empress Deck balcony. The price wasn't bad and I took it. So glad we did. We typically always book balconies but since my wife wasn't going I originally booked an OV because I figured we would save the money since it was just guys, We flew to Ft. Lauderdale the morning of the trip from Cleveland. Everything from a travel standpoint went smoothly. We prepaid for Carnival transportation to Miami and that went smoothly as well. I appreciated being able to check in at the airport alleviating the need to stand in line at the port. When we arrived at the port, we walked right on the ship. We had to wait until 1:30 to access our room which wasn't an issue. A burrito from the Blue Iguana and burger from Guy's and we were ready to get to our room. This is one of the oldest ships in the fleet and the staterooms are where you feel it the most. Our stateroom was configured oddly since we asked for separate twin beds. This stateroom also had optional pull down beds as this was set up to accommodate up to 4 passengers. I wouldn't want to cram 4 people in there. For the two of us we had plenty of storage space. It was a small room compared to the other ships we had been on, but the balcony was a great addition. I love sitting on the balcony at night and listening to the sea so this was a great upgrade. We chose YTD for this trip. We packed light for this trip and did not bring clothes for formal nights. If you must get anything on day one, get the strawberry cake pops from the buffet. Those are a definite guilty pleasure. We ate in the MDR each night except formal night. We were never disappointed in the selection or quality. We have in the past had spotty service in the YTD MDR on previous trips. The service on this trip was spot on from the beginning to the end. We also ate in the MDR for seaday brunch. Many stacks of pancakes later we were stuffed. Kevin Donohue was our CD and for the first time ever an CD made a difference in our cruise. Kevin was fantastic. He was fun and entertaining without being over the top or obnoxious. He seemed to genuinely enjoy the interaction and kept the fun going every day. I was impressed with how he dealt with events and people. So much fun. Kudos to Kevin for being the best we've had. We attended the love and marriage show (awkward and hysterical). We went to the towel folding demonstration. This was my son's idea, but surprisingly fun. He won at trivia so he was happy to have his ship on a stick. Carnival had no choice as to what the weather would be, but the weather was perfect each and every day. You can't complain with 85-90 and sun every day. We did a private all inclusive in Nassau and enjoyed it. We missed Half Moon Cay on our last trip and was able to go this time. I absolutely love HMC. It's the softest sand and crystal clear water. It's a bucket list beach. We knew there would be a seaweed issue in Grand Turk so we booked the Snorkel and Stingray excursion through the ship. We had 24 people on this excursion and had a blast. If this excursion had 50-60 people it would have been chaos, but 24 was manageable. I just could not believe how much we enjoyed this cruise and this ship. We went off peak so there were minimal kids, no crazy rowdy parties. Just people having fun. Having only one pool meant the pool was shoulder to shoulder people. If you wanted a chair by the pool get there early. The chairs weren't being hogged, they were being used. If you don't mind an older ship this was a great option for us. Relax, chill and have a good time. take a chance on an off peak trip. We would definitely do this again to go back to HMC. Great time had by all. Read Less

So we were looking for a quick getaway and happened upon this cruise, got a great deal. As it got closer, we were reading other reviews on this site and got really nervous. However, we needn’t have worried!! Everything about this trip was great. We had a Junior suite, so not sure if that had anything to do with it, but our Embarkation was the easiest we’ve come across in over 10 cruises. Disembarkation was also very smooth, although we had another excursion planned in Miami so that may have helped as well. We enjoyed the food, the entertainment, and the excursions. The only downside was that on day 2, a shipmate apparently vomited in the pool amd the pool was closed for probably 48 hours while they drained and cleaned it. We had planned to stay on the ship and enjoy the pool while docked in Nassau (been there multiple times) but the pool was shut down, so that was disappointing. The fan in our bathroom did not work which was really not a problem until we took showers too closely together and set the fire alarm off with the steam. The fire crew was very nice :) the Blue Iguana Cantina was fantastic, breakfast is served out there in the mornings as well, so instead of fighting the crowd in the big buffet, we ate by the pool every morning. The shows were all very, very good!!! They do not advertise the content of the shows, so go to them all so you don’t miss anything! One of the shows was 70’s era music and it was fabulous. Half Moon Cay was AMAZING, we booked a 9:00 excursion (horseback riding) so were first off the ship and able to secure beach chairs no problem. Half Moon Cay easily the best stop on this cruise, hands down. All in all, we were not disappointed at all. No smell that I’d read about in other reviews (believe me, i would have noticed!) the food was great, never met a steward/waiter etc that wasn’t smiling and greeting me. Dining staff greeted us by name and knew exactly my preferences by dinner #2. Same service I’d experienced on Royal Caribbean, just a more casual atmosphere. Loved every minute!! Read Less

I chose this cruise due to the length, ports of call, and price. I did a lot of research before the trip and knew what to expect. I think any cruise (just like life) is what you make it. If you are a negative person who finds fault in everything, then you probably won't enjoy this ship. Otherwise you will have a great time. There were five people in my party and this was a girls trip. Ages ranged from 18-47. Everyone in the group had a great time. Embarkation and debarkation were quick and easy. Great food options were available. The food was very good for the most part. Drinks were great. We loved the main dining room (Fantasy), Guy's Burgers and the Cantina. Buffet is typical buffet. There was always something that appealed to me on the menu. There were only a couple of dishes that I didn't think were fantastic. If you choose Anytime Dining, ask for Horace's section-he and his assistants were fantastic. We found them on the third night and requested their section for the remainder of the cruise. There are plenty of activities to stay busy if you want. There are also quiet places if you prefer. It's a small ship and there are a few decks where you can't go from bow to stern, but that's not a big deal to me. Even though this is an older ship, there were always people cleaning and I never encountered anything but cleanliness. The inside cabin was great. There were three of us, so it was a little tight with a trundle, but manageable. There is plenty of storage and the bathroom is a good size. The staff was the best part of being on the ship. Everyone was professional and pleasant. They worked very hard to make the cruise experience great. I would definitely go on this ship again. Port Reviews: Nassau is not my favorite port, mainly because there are always several ships docked and it is very busy. However, there is a variety of shore excursions to pick from and you can explore on your own. This time we did a walking tour of downtown and it was great. In addition to seeing all of the popular tourist sights, we found a few surprises along the way. Everyone we encountered was friendly (we stopped several people and asked for directions) and we felt safe, even in the non-touristy/rundown section we passed through. Half Moon Cay is the BEST beach ever! Totally perfect. We rented a cabana and it was worth every penny. Even if you don't have the money to get a cabana, you can find plenty of shade farther down the beach. This was my first time visiting Grand Turk and I can honestly say that it isn't one of my top favorite ports, but we had a good time and I would visit again. The people we encountered were very friendly, even though the area outside of the Cruise Center is very rundown. We rented a golf cart-it was very slow-and toured about half of the island. We stopped at a couple of beaches and then went to Jack's Shack for a late lunch. BEST fried grouper ever (and I am from Florida). Great food, drinks and people there. The dogs are the most polite beggars I have ever met. lol Read Less

Not sure why people would complain, I thought for the money it was a fantastic cruise, my family had a blast and I would have had fun even without the excursions. It was very relaxing from a stressful business life, tanning, eating and simply just standing looking out at the blue water having a drink was therapy for me. My kids went crazy with those cheese burgers at Guy's and the burrito bar was awesome. Every morning having a breakfast buffet with my family was great considering we never have time to do that these days. I truly can't wait to take our next cruise next year, this time it's for mommy and daddy. The crew did a great job accommodating us with all requests, they even remembered my name after one day. With this being my best friends seventh cruise and the first for myself and our two daughters we chose sensation because it was reasonably priced. After reading other reviews it sounded like the best choice for spring break fun for a family with teens. We had an amazing time! The overall experience was a great one. Everyone we encountered on our five day cruise from staff to other passengers were all friendly and engaging. You read a lot of reviews regarding the food but with so many options between the dining room and lido how can one complain?.. I will say by day two we skipped the sit down dinner because we were occupied with other things. Our two teens enjoyed circle c club so much that we had to force them to catch a show or two with us. Although I have no other cruise to compare my experience to my best friend said sensation was by far her best experience. The cabin isn't huge but heck if you're spending that much time in there you're not having enough fun. We made it work with two teen girls lol.. Two twin beds and the two pull down bunks suited us just fine. Ship, cabin and food areas were kept immaculately clean which was a huge relief because that was my biggest fear. We purchased sea bands on amazon and never once experienced sea sickness or nausea which was fear #2 lol..Amber cove was nice and Grand Turk was nothing short of amazing. If you are trying to decide on an excursion the horseback ride in the ocean is a must! Overall I have nothing but positive things to say about carnival sensation if you are considering it go for it! We just let things happen. We had scheduled our fabulous excursions and then just relaxed and did what we wanted to do. We really enjoyed the piano bar and a few of the shows that we saw. We ate in the MDR every night and had excellent service and for the most part, the food was excellent. We also did the Chef's Table. I cannot recommend this enough! What an education! We will do it again. Next time we will only "try" the first courses and save more room for the rest of the meal! The food was FABULOUS! I would not want to do another cruise shorter than 5 days. We felt that 5 days was just right, 7 might be perfect! I can't say enough about the staff. AMAZING! We truly left with new friends, crew and guests. Also I want to mention that when we embarked, we were rushed. My daughter laid her brand new $1,500 camera down in order to get her passport out or her purse. Wouldn't you know, she left her camera. We had just pulled out of the port when she realized she had left it. We went to Guest Services, and they had the camera!!! This was just amazing!!! Great Job Carnival!! Read Less

YES, this is an older ship, its smaller, and it does not have tons of flash like per-say Harmony of the Seas, or newer Carnival ships. This is a great quick getaway or a first time cruisers boat! My first cruise was a Fantasy class like this one and it brought back fond memories of that cruise and what began my cruise addiction! The ship itself was always clean, all areas that I was ever in was super clean and in tip-top shape. We had a balcony cabin on Upper (6th floor) and it was immaculate in cleanliness. The balcony was also spacious for a room like this as well. Dining was OK, I have had better, but it is what it is! Breakfast - was eaten at the buffet except for sea day brunch. Breakfast buffet was always packed so I mainly got a bagel and some fruit. Sea Day brunch was excellent. Lunch - mainly eaten at the buffet or deli, my husband and our friend has the Cantina and Guy's burgers once and said it was delicious. Buffet lunch was typical and just ok. I did enjoy the deli many times for a sandwich. Dinner - we always ate in the dining room and the food was always pretty solid. My husband did get chicken one day and said it was pretty bland. Everything else we had was great and service was excellent. Service was excellent throughout anyone we encountered. Wait staff was fast and friendly - this was the case in any dining area. We had the Cheers package so spent a lot of time at the Mirage bar. I will note that Simona and Nancy at the Mirage bar, Loachim at Alchemy bar, and the bar staff in the comedy club were always on their game and some of the best groups of bartenders I have ever encountered! On top of that they are great people as well and so nice and friendly! If you go on this cruise search them out, they will do you right and you will never be waiting for a drink! Entertainment - The bands that played across from the Mirage bar - Jack Milligan and another band that covered 80s, 90s and modern songs were just top class. Excellent singers and performers and on top of that probably some of the best I have seen on a cruise ship in a long time. We only went to comedy shows by Tim Young and they were hilarious and he is on top of his game. We did a few trivia games, and Bingo as well. The cruise director Mike Pack is excellent and I suppose his excellent service is also why he will be the new CD on Horizon. He is funny, charming and really helps everything flow well! I was very pleased with the entertainment! As far as ports we visited Key West and Cozumel. Have been to both before and was pleased to go again! The weather was wonderful throughout the entire cruise and made our port days a blast. As far as excursions I will leave those reviews where they go but we did the Conch Train and La Casa En La Playa - both EXCELLENT! Would I go on this cruise again? Sure! For a quick getaway and great times I would go again in a heartbeat! Read Less

I have been on five previous cruises, all with Carnival. I have travelled on the Fantasy class and several other ships in larger classes. Let's just say that if you don't enjoy a cruise, you have no one to blame but yourself! The value you receive for what you pay is great! My husband and I cruised out of Miami which was a first for us. The port was extremely organized. I believe Carnival has made some changes to their embarkation process which was very efficient. We were checked in and waiting to board within minutes of arriving at the port. Our cabin steward was the best we ever had on a carnival cruise. The ships in the Fantasy class do not have hairdryers in the rooms and I didn't bring mine so our steward made sure I had one within minutes of the request. Also, he knew I liked ice in my room for my soda and he made sure that I had a fresh bucket once a day, if not twice! I have stayed in many different cabin classes on ships too. I wanted an inexpensive vacation this time and decided to stay on the Riviera Deck (4) with an ocean view, mid ship. The cabin was very clean and we didn't have any trouble with noise in the halls. I think that the food was the best I've ever had on a cruise. Of course Guy's burgers and fries was as great as usual. The tacos were amazing! Fresh tortillas were made in front of you with either shrimp, chicken, beef, or pork! The dining room food was also great. I highly recommend the ceasar salad because the dressing is made from scratch. The chocolate melting cake never disappoints. Also, the vegetarian lasagna was fantastic! French onion soup was very good too. We've been to Nassau before and the weather wasn't so warm that day so we decided to stay near port and shop. Our next stop was Half Moon Cay which is a private island owned by Carnival and I believe, Holland America. I was somewhat unsure of what to expect but was pleasantly surprised! You have to take a tinder boat to the dock but that wasn't an issue. We were the only ship that day and had the entire beach for just our ship. Carnival also provided lunch at a pavilion which included jerk chicken, hamburgers, salads, fruit, cookies, etc. It is somewhat of a walk to the "Bar-B-Que" but there is a shuttle should you need one. The island is beautiful! The comedians were funny and the shows were enjoyable. I probably won't take another cruise on the Fantasy class but not because they aren't great. It is just because I prefer the larger ships because I think the ride is smoother. Read Less

After reading the reviews i was a little nervous to go on this cruise with my family as i planned everything and did not want to disappoint anyone for our first time cruise. IT was amazing! It was not super fancy a little old but that was perfect for us, it was very clean, service was great no complaints at all. Crew always happy and greeting you Orlando very funny and friendly,Bujan our stateroom steward very nice always happy, smiling and our room clean with fresh towels and we loved the animal towels on our bed. Food and drinks were great there was so much to pick from we never ate in the dinning room. Entertainment was also good we went to a family friendly comedy show, juggling act my kids thought that was fantastic the girls made carnival build a bears that was fun and a great keep sake. Islands were very nice did the shallow water excursion with the dolphins in Atlantis that was another amazing thing. Half moon cay was our favourite beautiful and very relaxing. Grand turk was nice a little busy did some shopping and went back on the ship girls wanted to hang out at the water slide. Read Less

I am not much of a detailed review writer, but my best recommendation of this ship is that I would go back on it in a heartbeat. Loved the band 6 of a Kind, probably one of the best I have seen on a ship. They played most nights and usually 4 sets of 45 minutes and returned after a 15 minute break. Main shows very good too. Food was EXCELLENT. Service was attentive. Many of the crew learned and used our names. We were invited to a food tasting in the kitchen. It was very clean and orderly. Wish they had a big movie screen outside but none of the Fantasy class do. They did show one movie in the main show lounge we went too. There are 4 hot tubs, 2 in serenity. They are kind of small, probably fit 8 - 10 max, but we were able to get in one when we wanted to more often than not. Did notice they had someone watching the pool most hours. Did not allow jumping in, that sort of thing. That is new. Nice gym, very clean. Casino kind of small. Everything is between decks 7 and 10, so we did not even bother with the elevators. Have been on 17 cruises, 13 with Carnival so definitely have some basis for comparison. Bottomline, i loved it! Read Less

Everyone is looking for something different in a vacation. I like a good return on my financial investment, and for that reason, I give our cruise 5 stars. The seas were terrible the first night and our first port of Princess Cays was cancelled due to weather, which was cold and cloudy most of the trip. But you know what? Those things can happen. We would not go on cruises if we were not prepared for this. The cruise contract very clearly states ports can change, and this has happened to me before on other lines, and we still had a great time. I normally don't get seasick, but I do bring Bonine just in case, which I did need. Just part of the reality of cruising, which is not for everyone. This ship is not for people who avoid shopping at Walmart due to the crowds of regular people, because they are exactly who you will encounter on this ship. You see, those people are me and mine, so we're perfectly at home. There are plenty of much more expensive and exclusive cruises available for fancy people. The décor is bright and crazy looking like an old Vegas casino, dominated by not one but two shades of purple. The two shades actually kind of clash with each other and are often found together. I think this is the reason why so many people belly ache about the decor. Now the fact is, I like color but would never put this on my walls at home, so it's a nice chance to enjoy the fun of a fun, garish atmosphere. The pool and waterslides were closed much of this cruise due to cold temps and high winds. At one point we faced 54 knot headwinds! I would have liked to get a little sun but it was just not to be. On the other hand, back home my friends and relatives were enjoying several consecutive days of sub-zero weather to my '50's. There was plenty to keep us entertained regardless. We enjoy the goofy activities onboard. We watched 88 Keys, the big song and dance routine with a piano theme, on our second night. I see some people don't like the Playlist Productions shows, but we thought it was fabulous, as was Studio VIP with its disco theme on the last night of the cruise. Similar to the shows we enjoyed on Carnival Triumph on our March 2017 cruise. To partially compensate for missing Princess Cays, we went into Nassau early with an overnight. The next morning, we paid a taxi driver to take us to Fort Charlotte and back to the port. My husband really enjoyed the fort and could easily have spent a few hours here. On so called elegant night, we saw everything from the occasional tuxedo / evening gown couple to the family in jeans and hoodies in the main dining room. We were somewhere in between. I really hate dressing up, so this, too, was fine with us though I realize it would drive a lot of more refined humans completely up the wall. We had about 5 of our meals in the dining room, and the rest in the buffet, Guy's, Blue Iguana, the deli, or the Pizza Pirate. It was just quicker and easier for us, and seemed to fit our oddball schedules better than the dining room. We usually did this at off times so there was little wait. We were all very, very satisfied with the food. No, we did not get any lobster - that is a bit of a joke as a lot of cruisers complain that free lobster is no longer included on cruises of this caliber. Yes, 3 of us got the filet mignon at Sea Day brunch, which is a bit of a cruise hack, since filet is also no longer included for dinner (both are available for a $20 upcharge) but it is included at no additional charge during Sea Day brunch in the dining room. The last morning we were off the ship and at the car at 6:44 am, and in the tunnel from the port into Miami at 6:58. This was due to us having Faster to the Fun, which also saved me quite a bit of time the 3 or so times I went to Guest Services. We will probably always get this, but the upcharge is not worth it for everyone. In summary, with the rocky conditions the first night, we were off to a bad start and I was feeling very disappointed with the cruise, but by the end we were all completely happy. It never got very warm, but the bright thing up in the sky did come out briefly here and there. I have pics of adults on the Serenity deck chairs in parkas and wrapped up in towels in full sunshine. The main pool occasionally opened but hardly anyone got in it, choosing to cram into the little hot tubs instead. I suppose these conditions infuriated some people, but I find every travel experience to be interesting and have learned to expect the unexpected and roll with it. We will absolutely continue to cruise with Carnival. I would consider the Fantasy class ships again. They are not perfect, and they do feel crowded when the ship is full as with this sailing, but we still had a really wonderful time. Read Less

What a fantastic cruise. My congratulations to the Celtic Thunder, Rose Tours and Carnival Cruise Lines for the awesome cruise we were on. My mom, who is 87, had a great time meeting all the members of the Celtic Thunder and all the other groups that were onboard. My thanks to Barbara from Rose Tours for all of her help before and during the cruise, she managed to get my mom (who is handicapped) and I some of the best seats in the main theater. There was so much entertainment on the ship that we had a hard time getting to all of the shows. We were very happy with all the shows that we did see, which was probably about 90% of the shows. The crew on the Sensation did a fantastic job of cleaning up the ship after the prior cruise passengers who were partying 24 hours a day on their cruise. As always on any Carnival ship the crew was great, the food was very good and disembarkation was the best I had ever seen. I loved the way the members of the Celtic Thunder were always walking around the ship and would always stop to talk or sign an autograph. The guys are awesome gentlemen and truly great people. They have awesome voices and put on great shows. It was a pleasure to meet Elaine from Ireland who works in the merchandising and ticket sales departments, she is another fantastic person. Being a VIFP Platinum member with Carnival, I know what to expect from Carnival and the onboard crew and was not at all disappointed. Awesome from shows Celtic Thunder, well organised concerts and events from Rose Tours and a great staff on Carnival Sensation made this a cruise to remember for a lifetime. Thanks to all involved and I can't wait for the next Celtic Thunder Cruise. Bob Read Less
