We chose this cruise for the Sail Dates and the Destinations because our kids 14 and 12 were on spring break. We also had our 17 yr. Old Niece with is us. This was our 2nd. Cruise, but first was with Carnival. Our first cruise was with Disney. (Disney pampers you!) First of all, Embarkation went really smoothly. When we finally got in our Room U-88 (SUITE) we found that the room was not as clean as it should have been, we mentioned it and it was taken care of right away, the room steward (Nancy) was so sweet, but she shed tears over the missed mess and explained to us the she was training New crew and she was sorry for not double checking! Training seemed to be an issue ship wide, as Sensation must be a training ship. Older crew training younger crew. As I said before we had 3 teenagers with us, not much for them to do, sure they had their Camp Rooms to go to; if you want to go to very small, crampt, stuffy rooms. The swimming pool is also really small (Don't trust pictures) and loaded with kids and so were the 2 hot tubs. The adult only section was also really small with no pool only 2 hot tubs. Needless to say too small of areas for the amount of people on ship. Food, okay I am kinda a picky eater, but to me their was not much to choose from other than Guy's Burger Joint. Sit down dinners were nice, but limited unless you paid more. The buffet lines for Breakfast and Lunch were extremely long and the food was not a warm as it should have been. 24hr. Pizza was okay, if you want paper thin pizza and somewhat burnt! If you want better breakfast go to the dinning room and order from the menu vs the buffet; no lines and made to order food! 24hr. Ice Cream was also okay if you like soft serve (Ice milk) not scooped. You only get scooped in the resturant. Bottomless Bubbles, not really worth it, if you want soda from a can and flat tasting. And you can only get 1 glass every every 15 mins. We are not drinkers so the Cheers package need not apply. As for other drinks, the water that was available was okay, but kinda musty tasting. They also offered self serve Lemonade and Iced Tea, no other juices were offered! The entertainment was good, but 1/2 hr. To 1 hr. Shows. Could have been longer since there was not much else to do! Overall, we had a good time, but what we takeaway from this cruise would be, do more research on the ship and it's amenities. Read Less

With this being my best friends seventh cruise and the first for myself and our two daughters we chose sensation because it was reasonably priced. After reading other reviews it sounded like the best choice for spring break fun for a family with teens. We had an amazing time! The overall experience was a great one. Everyone we encountered on our five day cruise from staff to other passengers were all friendly and engaging. You read a lot of reviews regarding the food but with so many options between the dining room and lido how can one complain?.. I will say by day two we skipped the sit down dinner because we were occupied with other things. Our two teens enjoyed circle c club so much that we had to force them to catch a show or two with us. Although I have no other cruise to compare my experience to my best friend said sensation was by far her best experience. The cabin isn't huge but heck if you're spending that much time in there you're not having enough fun. We made it work with two teen girls lol.. Two twin beds and the two pull down bunks suited us just fine. Ship, cabin and food areas were kept immaculately clean which was a huge relief because that was my biggest fear. We purchased sea bands on amazon and never once experienced sea sickness or nausea which was fear #2 lol..Amber cove was nice and Grand Turk was nothing short of amazing. If you are trying to decide on an excursion the horseback ride in the ocean is a must! Overall I have nothing but positive things to say about carnival sensation if you are considering it go for it! This was my very first cruise and it did not disappoint. I loved the crew on board, the shore excursions, the ship itself, the entertainment, the food, etc. We ate in the buffet-style restaurant for breakfast and lunch, and then in the main dining room for dinner every night. We chose Your Time Dining, and had to wait for a table for maybe fifteen minutes maximum one night. On the other nights, however, there really wasn't a wait at all. The food was delicious and there were many options on the menu each night, including certain meals specific to the ports and cultures we had visited that day. Side note: I highly recommend the Carnival Melting Chocolate Cake, which we made sure to have every single night. It is easily the best dessert ever and SO delicious! Each night, the dining staff put on a performance and line danced/sang in the dining room, which was so fun to watch. They were always very quick with the food and offered pleasant/friendly service. In terms of entertainment, we had Orlando and Deon for cruise directors. Both guys were extremely friendly, upbeat, high energy, and outgoing. We went to the Hasbro Game Show, karaoke, the 18+ scavenger hunt, a trivia game in the atrium, and two comedy shows, just to name a few -- all of which were great experiences. There were multiple opportunities offered for most of the events, so it wasn't like we had to plan our entire schedules around a certain event we wanted to participate in. We chose the smallest (aka cheapest) stateroom option possible, and there were three of us sharing the room. It had all of the necessities and was very clean. The beds were comfortable and the shower was bigger than we had anticipated. Overall, the cabin was comfortably small, and not in a claustrophobic way. The stateroom crew was incredibly sweet and helpful, especially our personal stateroom crew member Andrea, who made the experience all the more wonderful. She made the effort to learn our names and greet us every time she saw us. The only con of the cabin was that there were only two outlets- one next to a bed and the other in the bathroom. It made things difficult for the three of us to alternate usage of the outlets while charging phones, but we made it work. Although there were four hot tubs and two water slides, there was only one pool. I had expected there to be at least two pools and was surprised that there weren't more. Surprisingly, the single pool didn't get too crowded considering the fact that it was the only one. I was happy that two of the hot tubs were 21+ because the other two hot tubs by the pool were almost always filled with kids. In terms of shore excursions, my friends and I went to the Blue Hole in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, where we jumped into the swimming holes and waterfalls and then tubed down the White River. I highly recommend you bring water shoes for this shore excursion because you will need it. The tour guides were super friendly and nice, as was the bus driver, who locked our belongings on the bus while we did the water activities. Our tour guide at the Blue Hole, Javier, offered to hold my prescription glasses for me when I jumped into the water so that I wouldn't accidentally lose them. Overall, they were very accommodating and informative about local culture. The second shore excursion we did was swimming with turtles and stingrays in Grand Cayman. That morning, there were high winds that made it difficult to dock in the original port, which delayed our ability to get to shore. However, because we booked our excursions through the cruise line, the cruise staff made sure that we got the full shore excursion experience, and it was well worth it. We had an incredible time and, once again, the tour guides were the greatest! It was really hard to leave the ship, but I'm excited to take another cruise some time soon! I really can't emphasize how wonderful the crew onboard was, and how much that made for such an incredible experience. Read Less

This cruise checked all the boxes. The week I needed, I wanted at least 5 days and the ports of call were a bonus! It was just my daughter and me this trip. We had a fabulous time. We just let things happen. We had scheduled our fabulous excursions and then just relaxed and did what we wanted to do. We really enjoyed the piano bar and a few of the shows that we saw. We ate in the MDR every night and had excellent service and for the most part, the food was excellent. We also did the Chef's Table. I cannot recommend this enough! What an education! We will do it again. Next time we will only "try" the first courses and save more room for the rest of the meal! The food was FABULOUS! I would not want to do another cruise shorter than 5 days. We felt that 5 days was just right, 7 might be perfect! I can't say enough about the staff. AMAZING! We truly left with new friends, crew and guests. Also I want to mention that when we embarked, we were rushed. My daughter laid her brand new $1,500 camera down in order to get her passport out or her purse. Wouldn't you know, she left her camera. We had just pulled out of the port when she realized she had left it. We went to Guest Services, and they had the camera!!! This was just amazing!!! Great Job Carnival!! Read Less

I read so many negative things on here about the sensation. Its an Old ship. We had a blast. People always pick on the decor and carpet. who cares you are not working, you have people waiting on you. Enjoy life and that what I did. The food was ok not terrible like everyone said .There is something you will like, salmon was good, ceasar salad was excellent. Pumpkin soup was awesome.Chocolate melting cake was the Bomb. Ive had better food for sure. The longer the cruise the better the food for sure. Lots to choose from. The Mexican place and Guys burgers were great!! The pizza was ok .The deli was really good. We went to all the Comedy shows they were really good even the PG. If u dont like R shows dont go cause it was R rated. They were really funny. The piano bar was ok not great .He was slow.We left. The casino bar (the smoking area) has the Best Band ever!!! It was very smokie. The casino is always a Blast. I lost my butt though. Super slow on getting your drinks though esp. if there free. The serenity deck (adult only) was really nice. !st stop key West Im from S. florida so ive been many times. It was fun.We didnt have long it was chilly and early u really dont feel like drinking at 730am .We went on a Trolly ride all around town,u ca get off and on when ever u want. It was nice and scenic. Best Conch fritters around and Key Lime pie. We left Key west around 130 pm and headed to Cozumel that was a blast. We took dune buggie tour and snorkel/lighthouse and island tour. wwwcozumelcruiseexcursions.net we did it on our own not through Carnival. It was a blast Lunch was included. This was our 8th cruise, all on Carnival. So we were excited to cruise on the Sensation after hearing of the renovations. However, it was the most boring cruise we taken on Carnival. 1. The large TV in the pool area, played only pictures of fish swimming. They must have forgotten we were at sea. Not one music video was played. Just fish swimming. Maybe a new cruise director would be helpful. 2. The DJ played about 20 minutes at a time. Once a day 3. There were not that many shows. 4. Drinks consisted of ice, ice and more ice. 5. The ports were very nice (it's the carribian) 6. Our steward was very very nice and attentive. We couldn't wait to get off that boring ship. This was echoded by many others. We will continue to cruise with Carnival but NEVER AGAIN on the Sunshine again. I do not recommend this ship. Read Less

We selected Carnival as we wanted a fun, family friendly vacation with our two sons (age 15 & 20). We were very happy with the ship, our stateroom (small but manageable and amazingly comfortable beds!), the entertainment, and the wide variety of food options. The staff were so friendly - Orlando the cruise director was hilarious and our room attendant Shawn always had some clever quip for our teenage sons and was a pleasure to chat with. We missed out on the Cays as we could not tender safely but our other ports (Nassau and Grand Turk) were fantastic and we loved our excursions (two-reef snorkel/tour and Open Air Jeep island excursion). When we had an unexpected "at sea" day the staff worked hard to put together a fun day with extra activities so although we were disappointed to miss out on the beach day we still had a lot of fun and it did not negatively impact the cruise. I was really impressed with the food - so fresh, lots of variety, and the dining room dinner was a special experience each evening. Guy's burgers and the sushi were highlights. Our oldest loved having "second lunch" and "second supper" on many occasions! Haha! Oh to be a teenager! The ship was large enough that we could always find something to do but not so large that we couldn't find everything or spent too much time wandering. I loved the funky purple decorations/lighting and we all thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. Definitely something for everyone! Read Less

Early March may not have been the best time to cruise as the ocean was wavy and many people did not feel well. However, the following issues had nothing to do with the swaying. 1. Ecstasy dining late - was slow and seemed to have no busboys. The food was okay but even underrated for Carnival. The fruit soups were divine. The new almond dessert on the first night was a dud for our entire table. The molten chocolate cake was either too runny on Formal night or not runny enough on Day 1. 2. Cabin on E60 had excellent service. Although, we tip on first day so we have ice. They did bring me a hairdryer as the cabin did not have one. The normal middle drawer on the dressing table was not there on this ship. 3. There were elevator problems every day - unsure if due to ship movement or kids jumping. 4. Note the ship did sway and it was noticeable but all activities were held. However, we missed Half Moon Cay due to water conditions with the tender and ship - safety first. Therefore, this cruise had 2 sea days. 5. We paid for Faster to the Fun so embarkation and diembarkation in Miami would be smooth and it was. Read Less

We chose this cruise because this was the only cruise that worked out for a quick getaway for my husband, myself and our friend who had never cruised before. Prior to the cruise I read a lot of negatives. I was a little worried but, I didn't let it bug me. YES, this is an older ship, its smaller, and it does not have tons of flash like per-say Harmony of the Seas, or newer Carnival ships. This is a great quick getaway or a first time cruisers boat! My first cruise was a Fantasy class like this one and it brought back fond memories of that cruise and what began my cruise addiction! The ship itself was always clean, all areas that I was ever in was super clean and in tip-top shape. We had a balcony cabin on Upper (6th floor) and it was immaculate in cleanliness. The balcony was also spacious for a room like this as well. Dining was OK, I have had better, but it is what it is! Breakfast - was eaten at the buffet except for sea day brunch. Breakfast buffet was always packed so I mainly got a bagel and some fruit. Sea Day brunch was excellent. Lunch - mainly eaten at the buffet or deli, my husband and our friend has the Cantina and Guy's burgers once and said it was delicious. Buffet lunch was typical and just ok. I did enjoy the deli many times for a sandwich. Dinner - we always ate in the dining room and the food was always pretty solid. My husband did get chicken one day and said it was pretty bland. Everything else we had was great and service was excellent. Service was excellent throughout anyone we encountered. Wait staff was fast and friendly - this was the case in any dining area. We had the Cheers package so spent a lot of time at the Mirage bar. I will note that Simona and Nancy at the Mirage bar, Loachim at Alchemy bar, and the bar staff in the comedy club were always on their game and some of the best groups of bartenders I have ever encountered! On top of that they are great people as well and so nice and friendly! If you go on this cruise search them out, they will do you right and you will never be waiting for a drink! Entertainment - The bands that played across from the Mirage bar - Jack Milligan and another band that covered 80s, 90s and modern songs were just top class. Excellent singers and performers and on top of that probably some of the best I have seen on a cruise ship in a long time. We only went to comedy shows by Tim Young and they were hilarious and he is on top of his game. We did a few trivia games, and Bingo as well. The cruise director Mike Pack is excellent and I suppose his excellent service is also why he will be the new CD on Horizon. He is funny, charming and really helps everything flow well! I was very pleased with the entertainment! As far as ports we visited Key West and Cozumel. Have been to both before and was pleased to go again! The weather was wonderful throughout the entire cruise and made our port days a blast. As far as excursions I will leave those reviews where they go but we did the Conch Train and La Casa En La Playa - both EXCELLENT! Would I go on this cruise again? Sure! For a quick getaway and great times I would go again in a heartbeat! Read Less

Great 5 day Caribbean Cruise on the Sensation. Yes this is a smaller ship, but I actually preferred it over ships like the Oasis of the Seas. Much more laidback, do as you please type of attitude. Entertainment- could have had more show options, and could have hosted the Deck Parties longer. After a couple songs, the Fun Squad disappear. We never had an issue getting on/off ship. super quick process. Dining- Blue Iguana for Breakfast, Guys Burgers for Lunch....both are great options!!! Lines always moved fast. Also, Pizza was always good. Main Dining- Good, im a picky eater, but could find something. Appetizers always good, Entrées hit or miss. Dessert always good. Staff- all very nice, bar staff were all good, great bands playing near Casino bar. Loved singing along with Rohan in the piano bar. Good times :) Grand Turk- got off ship, walked down the beach to the left of the ship to Jacks Shack. Beach is not rocky there. Had a few local beers. Then walked back closer to ship for Margaritaville. Great day. Also small space shuttle exhibit, to the right side area of the ship about John Glenn and his visit to the area "via" splashdown ! Cute to get pics of the monument. Half Moon Cay- get off the ship and enjoy the best beach :) go up to the top of the pirate ship for a good view and picture stop. Nassau- got off the ship start heading down to the right, where the Ferries are for Paradise Island. $8 roundtrip per person- the ride is beautiful and entertaining- may better than being in a cab. Walked thru the Atlantis Marina village, and then head to the free public Cabbage Beach, one of my favorite beaches. The waves here are strong, makes it fun, but be cautious. Got 2 chairs, and 2 unlimited coconut drinks, for $60 Good getaway, met expectations for the price! Read Less

Easy embarkation. Faster To the Fun meant our rooms were ready when we boarded at noon; luggage arrived not long after. A maintenance issue delayed our departure over 6 hours. I was very disappointed that there was no announcement about it until we were already eating dinner. It also meant that our visit to Grand Turk was even shorter than planned. Sensation is a small ship, definitely dated in its decor! It smells of smoke in many different places. Our balcony room was fine (U210). The bathroom was quite large and the bed very comfortable. The service was just ok. We definitely noticed a decline in quality in the dining room from our last cruise 4 years ago on a newer and larger ship. But we ate well. Our wait team was outstanding...friendly, fun, attentive. Stops at GT, HMC, and Nassau were all very smooth and enjoyable. We noticed a change at GT, locals are now charging for loungers and umbrellas. The shows were good, especially the Comedy Club. Casino was fun and never overly crowded...very smoky, though. The other passengers were really friendly and fun. It was a good balance of ages, too. The entertainment staff were the best I have had. Disembarkation was fine; however, we waited a long time for our luggage because they had the wrong numbers up! You can't go wrong with any cruise, but I don't think I'd choose Sensation again because it's age is definitely showing. Read Less

We booked the Sensation without reading reviews as we general have not worried about that. After booking I decided to check out details on the book and reviews. Let's just say, the reviews did not make me excited to go and made me worry about how the cruise would go. First off, our experience was the complete opposite of the negative reviews. Yes, the ship is older but the crew was always, always cleaning it. There was never a moment that the ship felt dirty! Way to go crew! Yes, the ship had an older smell to it but older house have a smell too - this is very, very minor! The water did have a smell at times but nothing that ruined our fun. ALL of the crew, ALL, was amazing, friendly, kind!!! Not once did we encounter a rude crew member! Every single one of them were there to help! Plenty of things to do, plenty! Shows were awesome, comedy family show as great! So much to do we didn't get to enjoy everything! Music was on point and great! There were times on the Lido deck that the bars got busy and people were having a little too much fun but we just enjoyed other areas of the ship during that time, no biggie! It is a smaller ship but plenty of space to go to other areas and enjoy!! Because it is a smaller ship you do feel more then the bigger ships, the first day was very rough but this is by no means the ship's fault - it's mother nature and this is not to be held against Carnival. The pool was nice, two hot tubs by the pool and one in the adult only area - only during one day was the pool busy, but hey that is what it is there for. I feel like people are complaining about things that shouldn't even matter. Awesome experience, would book this ship again. The cruise director is amazing and did an awesome job! We are not fantasy people - this cruise was perfect for us. Great for the money! If you want to be whined and dined and want a five star fantasy ship and treatment, then book elsewhere, this ship is for those who want to go on vacation, have not worries, and just want to relax and have a good time because that is just what we did! Thank you Carnival Sensation! Read Less

So first and foremost the ship is not consistent with customer service. There are a few that went above and beyond but if you say hi to most people they are not friendly. Why do I have to wait in line at a buffet. Royal has many buffets and don’t feel that I would have to wait. I mean specialty shops guys blue iguana I can understand the wait. Pizza took forever just make em they will go. Ice cream 24 hours loved it. I’m relaxed watching the sunset and I’m told I have to move because they are about to clean. I’m sorry I was in your way. The men’s bathroom around the ship had mostly only one stall. The cruise director Orlando and Heidi ho Dion were magnificent. I met Keasha accidentally loved her. We had a waiter one night, first night Dennis who was outstanding. He was just covering for one night. The rest of the cruise we had a dud but the helpers were amazing. Overall this is my first and my last Carnival ship. They prey to much on the party ship but not the customer service piece. I have been on five previous cruises, all with Carnival. I have travelled on the Fantasy class and several other ships in larger classes. Let's just say that if you don't enjoy a cruise, you have no one to blame but yourself! The value you receive for what you pay is great! My husband and I cruised out of Miami which was a first for us. The port was extremely organized. I believe Carnival has made some changes to their embarkation process which was very efficient. We were checked in and waiting to board within minutes of arriving at the port. Our cabin steward was the best we ever had on a carnival cruise. The ships in the Fantasy class do not have hairdryers in the rooms and I didn't bring mine so our steward made sure I had one within minutes of the request. Also, he knew I liked ice in my room for my soda and he made sure that I had a fresh bucket once a day, if not twice! I have stayed in many different cabin classes on ships too. I wanted an inexpensive vacation this time and decided to stay on the Riviera Deck (4) with an ocean view, mid ship. The cabin was very clean and we didn't have any trouble with noise in the halls. I think that the food was the best I've ever had on a cruise. Of course Guy's burgers and fries was as great as usual. The tacos were amazing! Fresh tortillas were made in front of you with either shrimp, chicken, beef, or pork! The dining room food was also great. I highly recommend the ceasar salad because the dressing is made from scratch. The chocolate melting cake never disappoints. Also, the vegetarian lasagna was fantastic! French onion soup was very good too. We've been to Nassau before and the weather wasn't so warm that day so we decided to stay near port and shop. Our next stop was Half Moon Cay which is a private island owned by Carnival and I believe, Holland America. I was somewhat unsure of what to expect but was pleasantly surprised! You have to take a tinder boat to the dock but that wasn't an issue. We were the only ship that day and had the entire beach for just our ship. Carnival also provided lunch at a pavilion which included jerk chicken, hamburgers, salads, fruit, cookies, etc. It is somewhat of a walk to the "Bar-B-Que" but there is a shuttle should you need one. The island is beautiful! The comedians were funny and the shows were enjoyable. I probably won't take another cruise on the Fantasy class but not because they aren't great. It is just because I prefer the larger ships because I think the ride is smoother. Read Less

Crew always happy and greeting you Orlando very funny and friendly,Bujan our stateroom steward very nice always happy, smiling and our room clean with fresh towels and we loved the animal towels on our bed. Food and drinks were great there was so much to pick from we never ate in the dinning room. Entertainment was also good we went to a family friendly comedy show, juggling act my kids thought that was fantastic the girls made carnival build a bears that was fun and a great keep sake. Islands were very nice did the shallow water excursion with the dolphins in Atlantis that was another amazing thing. Half moon cay was our favourite beautiful and very relaxing. My January, 2018 cruise aboard Sensation was the worst cruise I have had to date. The problems began at embarkation. Even though we had FTTF, we had to wait at the terminal over 2 HOURS to board. I can't imagine how long we would have had to wait if we had not had FTTF and got "priority boarding." Once aboard I was immediately struck by how shockingly dated the decor is on board. It screams 1970s and 1980s. I ended up getting used to it by the end of the cruise, but it was very jarring for the first couple of days. I felt like I had stepped into a time machine. There also was some cosmetic wear and tear on the ship, such as visible rust. Our interior cabin was horrible. Even though we were a party of 2, they put us in a cabin with 2 bunk beds. When closed, the top bunks overhang the bed and my husband and I both bumped our heads several times. Rather than a piece of artwork, there was a curtain over a "fake" window (nothing behind it but plastic wall). Who do they think they are fooling? I'd rather have the artwork. The room was extremely small and cramped and there was NO refrigerator. That was a big deal to us. We had to constantly have our steward refill our ice bucket - which wasn't big enough for the drinks we had pre-purchased to have delivered to our cabin. The shower water temperature and pressure were very good. The worst incident that occurred was when I was injured in one of the lounges. The lounge had tables with glass tabletops that were NOT secured to the table legs. I was drinking water all night - no alcohol - and slightly leaned on the table to stand up because I have osteoarthritis (and have never had a problem before doing this.) Due to the defect of these tabletops not being attached to the legs, it slid off and shattered, injuring my foot which was bleeding profusely. My foot had been stabbed by broken glass in many different places. But that wasn't even the worst part. The worst part was the horrible customer service I received at Guest Services when I reported the incident. I was told point blank it was "not Carnival's fault," rather than the "we are so sorry this happened to you" I should have received. There was no empathy or express of concern whatsoever. As for whose "fault" it was - that should have been up to a manager - not a low level customer service agent, and he should have gotten a manager to speak with me. The defective furniture was the reason this happened, which I think clearly makes it the fault of Carnival - but regardless, they should have at least not been rude in response to my injury! This was the first cruise where we had to wait to be seated for dinner (my time dining.) Then, once seated, service was extremely slow and the food was lukewarm instead of hot when it got to us. What made all this worse was the lack of dining options aboard for dinner. The best alternatives - Blueiguana and Guy's Burgers, closed early so we could not eat dinner there! The Serenity deck was a joke. People who clearly appeared to be under 18 were allowed to stay, one of the jacuzzis and a third of the deck were closed, and it was completely packed and noisy most of the time. There was nothing "serene" about it. The entertainment did not appeal to us at all. It was mostly game shows, expensive bingo, kids events, and other things that didn't interest us at all. The production show we went to was okay, but no where near as good as the production shows we'd seen on other ships - even other Carnival ships. One of the comedians was surprisingly good though, and I usually don't like comedians. The rest of the trip went a little better, but I still left the ship determined never to sail on Sensation again and planning to still go on the future Carnival sailing I already had booked but not planning on booking any more. I do not recommend this ship to anyone unless they like terrible cabins, poor customer service, injuries, and lots of waiting around at the terminal. Read Less

I am not much of a detailed review writer, but my best recommendation of this ship is that I would go back on it in a heartbeat. Loved the band 6 of a Kind, probably one of the best I have seen on a ship. They played most nights and usually 4 sets of 45 minutes and returned after a 15 minute break. Main shows very good too. Food was EXCELLENT. Service was attentive. Many of the crew learned and used our names. We were invited to a food tasting in the kitchen. It was very clean and orderly. Wish they had a big movie screen outside but none of the Fantasy class do. They did show one movie in the main show lounge we went too. There are 4 hot tubs, 2 in serenity. They are kind of small, probably fit 8 - 10 max, but we were able to get in one when we wanted to more often than not. Did notice they had someone watching the pool most hours. Did not allow jumping in, that sort of thing. That is new. Nice gym, very clean. Casino kind of small. Everything is between decks 7 and 10, so we did not even bother with the elevators. Have been on 17 cruises, 13 with Carnival so definitely have some basis for comparison. Bottomline, i loved it! Read Less

Everyone is looking for something different in a vacation. I like a good return on my financial investment, and for that reason, I give our cruise 5 stars. The seas were terrible the first night and our first port of Princess Cays was cancelled due to weather, which was cold and cloudy most of the trip. But you know what? Those things can happen. We would not go on cruises if we were not prepared for this. The cruise contract very clearly states ports can change, and this has happened to me before on other lines, and we still had a great time. I normally don't get seasick, but I do bring Bonine just in case, which I did need. Just part of the reality of cruising, which is not for everyone. This ship is not for people who avoid shopping at Walmart due to the crowds of regular people, because they are exactly who you will encounter on this ship. You see, those people are me and mine, so we're perfectly at home. There are plenty of much more expensive and exclusive cruises available for fancy people. The décor is bright and crazy looking like an old Vegas casino, dominated by not one but two shades of purple. The two shades actually kind of clash with each other and are often found together. I think this is the reason why so many people belly ache about the decor. Now the fact is, I like color but would never put this on my walls at home, so it's a nice chance to enjoy the fun of a fun, garish atmosphere. The pool and waterslides were closed much of this cruise due to cold temps and high winds. At one point we faced 54 knot headwinds! I would have liked to get a little sun but it was just not to be. On the other hand, back home my friends and relatives were enjoying several consecutive days of sub-zero weather to my '50's. There was plenty to keep us entertained regardless. We enjoy the goofy activities onboard. We watched 88 Keys, the big song and dance routine with a piano theme, on our second night. I see some people don't like the Playlist Productions shows, but we thought it was fabulous, as was Studio VIP with its disco theme on the last night of the cruise. Similar to the shows we enjoyed on Carnival Triumph on our March 2017 cruise. To partially compensate for missing Princess Cays, we went into Nassau early with an overnight. The next morning, we paid a taxi driver to take us to Fort Charlotte and back to the port. My husband really enjoyed the fort and could easily have spent a few hours here. On so called elegant night, we saw everything from the occasional tuxedo / evening gown couple to the family in jeans and hoodies in the main dining room. We were somewhere in between. I really hate dressing up, so this, too, was fine with us though I realize it would drive a lot of more refined humans completely up the wall. We had about 5 of our meals in the dining room, and the rest in the buffet, Guy's, Blue Iguana, the deli, or the Pizza Pirate. It was just quicker and easier for us, and seemed to fit our oddball schedules better than the dining room. We usually did this at off times so there was little wait. We were all very, very satisfied with the food. No, we did not get any lobster - that is a bit of a joke as a lot of cruisers complain that free lobster is no longer included on cruises of this caliber. Yes, 3 of us got the filet mignon at Sea Day brunch, which is a bit of a cruise hack, since filet is also no longer included for dinner (both are available for a $20 upcharge) but it is included at no additional charge during Sea Day brunch in the dining room. The last morning we were off the ship and at the car at 6:44 am, and in the tunnel from the port into Miami at 6:58. This was due to us having Faster to the Fun, which also saved me quite a bit of time the 3 or so times I went to Guest Services. We will probably always get this, but the upcharge is not worth it for everyone. In summary, with the rocky conditions the first night, we were off to a bad start and I was feeling very disappointed with the cruise, but by the end we were all completely happy. It never got very warm, but the bright thing up in the sky did come out briefly here and there. I have pics of adults on the Serenity deck chairs in parkas and wrapped up in towels in full sunshine. The main pool occasionally opened but hardly anyone got in it, choosing to cram into the little hot tubs instead. I suppose these conditions infuriated some people, but I find every travel experience to be interesting and have learned to expect the unexpected and roll with it. We will absolutely continue to cruise with Carnival. I would consider the Fantasy class ships again. They are not perfect, and they do feel crowded when the ship is full as with this sailing, but we still had a really wonderful time. Read Less

The shows were not very good. There was an issue with the water on the boat where it was shut down for nearly a hour before dinner. The best parts were the cruise director and the taco restaurant. The gym is also a nice size. They really need to add more hours to the taco restaurant. The cabins are dated, as is the rest of the ship. I would not recommend this boat for any type of cruise that is very long because you will run out of things to do. The only real entertainment is lipsyncing hosted in the crowded atrium by the cruise director. There is also nowhere to escape children on this boat. With only one pool it is full of kids running and jumping and splashing. The adults only area has just a small hot tub. This boat is due for retirement or maybe just short cruises for a first time cruiser who might enjoy seeing what it is all about. Read Less

Let me begin with that I am probably not what Carnival markets to for their clientele. My wife and I have for years heard from friends about what a great time they have on Carnival. At the same time, we have predominantly been Princess patrons. This trip we decided to join another couple and take this short cruise to try out Carnival and also visit Key West. Earlier reviews forewarned of a ship that was old and showing her age even after recently being dry-docked last Spring. The reviews, as accurate as they were, could not have prepared for what was to come. The décor of blacks and purple felt like a scene out of a bad movie theater back in the 70s. Our balcony situated on the stern showed extensive rust along with sloppy applications of shellacs and poor attempts to paint over rust. I will say that the crew was outstanding from the cabin staff right up to the Guest Services desk. Quick note - TRY the Chef's Table for an extraordinary evening of fine food and fun with other adventurous guests. Well worth the $70. Read Less
