I chose this cruise for my one year anniversary with my girlfriend, with the intent to propose to her on the cruise (she said yes!) and overall I had an absolutely fantastic time. I was a bit nervous after booking the cruise since I hadn't read any reviews and saw some people posting negative reviews about the ship but for the most part I couldn't find a lot of their issues. Our cabin was nice and the Stateroom Steward was amazing at getting in to clean the room after we were out (we slept in most days so it was nice not to be bothered right away in the morning!). The best parts of the cruise were the comedy club (Dean Gaines and Macio were hilarious) and our Cruise Director, Orlando. Our second port of call was supposed to be Grand Caymen but because of the sea conditions we couldn't tender and Orlando was quick to have his team plan out a whole day of activities and events for the unexpected day at sea. The worst part of the cruise was the service in the restaurants though. We liked to stake out a table to relax at away from the noise on a few of the days and unless we moved empty glasses or plates to an unoccupied table, the staff were never by to clean up! And the brunch service on the last sea day was immensely subpar. We waited nearly an hour and they got both of our orders wrong. The ship could also use a little bit of TLC. The minigolf course had patches missing out of several of the holes and they had all of 15 golf balls that could be used. But even with that we had a great time and Jamaica was incredible to see and experience! Read Less

Went with friends who had already book with Carnival. I've never been on a cruise so was curious about the experience. Pluses: Great service and lots to do depending on your inclinations Food is good and again, great service. Sailing the ocean is a wonder Minus: The initial cost of the tour is just the tip of the financial ice burg you'll be running into. Got tired of being hit up for photos and things to buy. Lots and lots of people, lots of noise and sometimes too many kids for my taste Excursion: Our tour to snorkel was canceled the night before so I was just going to amble around Cozumel's only town and hopeful see some local sites. Unfortunately Cozumel and/or the cruise lines decided to build the new cruise ship docks about two miles out of town in the middle of nowhere and put a tourist trap on land. I mean trap literally because unless you paid for a tour you were confined to the rows of stores, bars and restaurants built for the cruise tourists. I ended back up on the ship. Read Less

We choose this cruise because of the Date it was sailing and that we could leave from Miami. We arrived to Miami 2 day prior to our cruise due to cheaper flights and were able to explore the city before embarkation. When we arrived at port our bags were quickly gathered from us and we stood in the line waiting on our 11am time frame. It was simple and easy. We got on the ship and the buffets were open and ready to go, ship was very clean. We were able to get into our room before the time that was stated to freshen up before dinner. Our Cabin was small but all we needed we do not spend a lot on the cabin because we are hardly in it to enjoy it. Dinner in the dining room all 5 nights was delicious. We did your time dining and it was the best choice we made. We got to sit just the 2 of us at every dinner. Our waiter knew our name after the first night. We did a couples massage in the spa and that was definitely worth the money! We were so relaxed we didnt want to move. I also got a shampoo and haircut on the ship as well. So friendly and relaxing. The entertainment was amazing! Loved all the shows, BINGO, Casino, Trivia, musicians. We found ourselves sitting in the lobby listening to music drinking daiquiris. I even got to be apart of one of the shows when they asked for volunteers. The best part of the entertainment crew were the comedians. The PG and Adult shows were so funny and left us talking about them throughout the evening. Our service was perfect! The Steward asked us if we wanted Morning or Night or both for cleaning and service. We choose evening, during our dinner time. We were always up and around the ship at the time. We did leave and extra tip because the service was so good. We did 2 shore excursions on this cruise and both were great. We did the glass bottom boat in Freeport and Atlantis in Nassau. We loved the glass bottom boat, very relaxing and informational. We got some amazing photos while on that boat. We toured the aquariums at Atlantis and were able to go on the beach. Food was really good at Atlantis. Read Less

My first cruise. Chosen for a girls trip for 20 girls. Chosen on price being cheap. Everything was great. Only complaint I have was service was slow for obtaining a drink. Also pretty limited dining choices. Only one pool as well. However entertainment was incredible. Waiters and staff were super nice. Room was very clean and comfortable. Casino was huge! Getting on ship was easy and fast. Getting off ship a little slow but not terrible. I loved the Mexican food place! Drinks were super yummy. Loved the serenity deck as well. Spa was way overpriced. Fitness area had scheduled classes and many were cancelled which was disappointing. Port stops were really fun and easy to get on and off ship. Trivia games were fun! Birthday cakes were brought out for birthdays which was nice as well. Maps on ship were a little confusing. Overall fabulous cruise for the price paid. Read Less

The staterooms were comfortable but only had one electrical outlet. Not enough power outlets for 2017 times. Sensation seems to be an older ship. Showers need renovation. General overall renovation suggested. Paint on cabin windows chipped. Outside windows very dirty. Inside Ship was kept .clean. Families with children on board need to monitor their children at all times. Too many kids running up & down halls at night. More security needed .. Entertainment & activities staff need to reflect more ETHNIC DIVERSITY as part of overall cast of theater performances at night. Overall quality of service(s) was generally good. Ports of call & Shore excursions were good.. Offer more things to do at more reasonable prices. .Island tour in Freeport was very good & reasonable. Sherwin & Riz in Ectasy Dining Room were the best. Guests should be assigned to the dining room closest to their staterooms. Ours was all the way across the ship aft.; cabin was in front. Too far to have to trek for a good meal every day. Elizabeth in Guest Services was very nice & did her job well. Steel drum player-fantastic! Comedian = NO. Half Moon Cay Island was NOT ACCESSIBLE 4 .persons with disabilities. Too far to walk. Never got food or to see the beach there. Need to run shuttles from ship to food & Beach. Read Less

This is the worst vacation i’ve ever had... I honestly would have enjoyed myself more at home, seriously... Where do I begin... First let me say i’m not a picky person i’m very reasonable and quite understanding but my experience on sensation was terrible. They lost my infant son’s luggage, which contained his diapers and formula. So I found myself going deck to deck looking through hundreds of bags trying to find my son’s bag which was not a good start to my vacation. all in all, they said the tag on the luggage came off, which is not surprising considering I saw baggage claim literally throwing luggage multiple feet off the cart onto the floor. Secondly, the entire ship smells of cigarette smoke, even in our room, to the point it makes your chest hurt. In addition to that, the elevators are terrible, I have a stroller because of my son and believe me when I tell you, I carried that stroller up multiple flights of stairs everyday because of how bad they operate; Waiting 20 plus minutes for it to come to your deck. The food on sensation not good, it’s like the food you received when you were in middle school, most of it is cooked and frozen then reheated, milk cartons, and the only juice they have available that’s free is lemonade and ice tea which are filled with so much sugar you have to dilute it to drink it. the sheets in my cabin smelled really bad, Its like they have sheets cycled through circulation for a few years. also the smell of water is really bad as well. 100% true no lie, I was washing my son’s bottle in the bathroom sink and my wife had flushed the toilet, all of a sudden i see yellow liquid come through the bathroom sink.... i couldn’t believe what I was seeing, I can’t make this stuff up, it’s so bad it’s almost funny. lastly, I was charged a mandatory $65 gratuities. they took it off my sail and sign card automatically, I was never warned or informed, I just check my balance and see $-9 balance, not one employee cleaned or entered my room during the entire week on the cruise, and every meal I ate was self serve, let’s just say I was not a happy camper. In conclusion, this was a terrible experience and i’m contemplating ever cruising again. because this week has brought me more stress and aggravation then if i was home working, I mean the very review your reading I wrote on my last day on the cruise, it’s very boring to say the least. Food sucks even in the main dinning (over cooked or under cooked - most employees suck with few manners with the exception of a couple of them - the serinity area is very noisy because it sets under the dining balcony and the water park area - the casino is horrific with smokers and way to small for a ship casino - just not a lot to do on a full day of sailing other than to lay out or swim in the small pool - shows are boring with no namers as headliners - the cruise director inaudible Steve from Canada sucks at his job as the cruise is lacking in quality entertainment schedules - so unless you are an alcoholic, a habitual gambler or a addict shopper this is not a cruise to go on - the shore excursions are good and enjoyable but I could have flown to those and had just as much fun - this is my second cruise with carnival and most likely my last unless a better company buys them in the future Read Less

Our first experience with Carnival will be our last. Our daughter chose this cruise for her beach wedding in Nassau. While I had read a few bad reviews, we thought "it's a cruise, how bad can it be?". How bad? Only good things were: smooth embarkation and disembarkation; Stefan the manager on board at Pixels; dining room staff; room steward; Catherine and about 3 other bartenders. THATS IT!! The boat is old-needs to be retired. Room was dirty. Dust on lamps and glass shelves. Carpet was disgusting. Room smelled like mildew. Had a Grand Suite, but grand it was not. Balcony door did not latch properly and the make shift lock they placed at the top did not secure it. Food was horrible. I actually lost eight pounds! Buffet was a joke. Food was dry. Dining room was not any better. Burgers were dry and tasteless. VERY little on board activities , especially for our 23month old granddaughter. Ports were fine, organized. Fairly smooth on and off at each. The boat is small, dirty, old and was actually leaking in places. During the art auction in Kaleidoscope, the roof was dripping. My daughters room had brown water coming from the faucets. Daughters officiant's room had the bathroom floor come up with the towel after a shower. This was the most disastrous experience EVER!! There is still so much that was wrong, but will save that for later. NEVER CRUISE CARNIVAL! SENSATION IS HORRIBLE! Read Less

My husband & I saw a good deal come up for this cruise after I just did the same ports with my girlfriends in May. We both LOVE the Bahamas and Grand Turk, so wanted to go back for some sun and beach. I am Platinum VIFP with Carnival, so embarkation went very smooth. We arrived around noon. Everyone else seemed to be moving right along also in the Miami terminal. The workers there were very helpful in pointing everyone in the right direction. First thing was to hit Guy's Burgers - our favorite! So delicious! The fries and chipotle mayo are the BEST! And the workers there are always smiling and friendly. Then we changed into our swimsuits to go sit on the Serenity Deck in the aft. No one was there! We had it all to ourselves - maybe two other people showed up to use the jacuzzi. We chose early dining in the Main Dining Room (6pm). Sat with 4 other couples at a big round table near the very back. Our head waiter, Donovan, was wonderful! My husband & I really enjoy the food at dinner. I always look forward to the BBQ ribs, the pumpkin soup, the pork chop, mashed potatoes with brown gravy, etc...and of course, the warm chocolate melting cake!! And the couples we sat with were as nice as could be. - The comedians were very good. We especially liked Mark Hawkins. - The cruise director was great - "Steve from Canada". Very friendly and happy. PORTS: Nassau - We took the #10 jitney (local bus) past Cable Beach to Sandyport Beach. Again, we had the place to ourselves! A good escape from the cruise crowds. Softest sand and beautiful water! Half Moon Cay - Caught the first tender off the ship around 8:25 in the morning. Walked down almost to the ship (bar) on the beach and put our stuff by some beach lounger chairs. Took a walk along the path past where they take tours to see the stingrays, and along where they do jet skis. Circled back to our stuff and jumped in that beautiful turquoise water! Swam, enjoyed the sun, got a soda at the ship bar. By the time lunch started up (11:30) we were one of the first people to get there. Try the Jamaican Jerk Chicken!! It's SO good and spicy-delicious! To avoid the lines to the tender getting back to the ship, we walked right on one at around 1:45 or 2:00. Grand Turk - had been cancelled due to destruction from the last hurricane, which we had been told already at least a week or two before our cruise. Freeport (Grand Bahama) - was supposed to be our substitution, which we were excited about, since we've enjoyed great snorkeling there before. But the captain decided it was too windy/rainy/bad weather that morning to pull into the port. People all seemed disappointed, but there's nothing you can do about the weather. Those are the chances you take when cruising during hurricane season. So, we hit the water park on the back of the ship (Deck 11 or 12). Tried out both sets of water slides. The tall twisty one is not very fast. But it was still fun and refreshing. There's a straight, short double slide where two people can race down. That was fun. * We just really enjoy cruising. And we keep coming back to Carnival because the price is right, the ports are great, and the service (of all the people we come in contact with) is outstanding! Even my Carnival travel consultant, Sherell, is on my Favorites List in my Contacts! HA! Read Less

My first cruise was with Royal Caribbean. This was my second cruise and I don't have any complaints. I had one issue and it was resolved very quickly. Everything was a blast of fun from the food/drinks, entertainment, all the activities to enjoy, the clubs, shopping, comedy clubs. Never a dull moment. You will be entertained from the time you get on the ship every hour; you will have to force yourself to go to bed because there is sooooo much to do!!! I will always cruise with carnival in the future because I had soo much fun. The name is accurate "Carnival the Fun Ship" you will not be dissapointed. The staff is always cleaning or making repairs and making sure the ship is presentable. The food was the best, omelets, desserts, fine dining every night. Clubs and fun with DJ Fiji on deck. Pictures were great as well. Read Less
