This was my first cruise ever. 30 years old, surprised my husband for his 30th bday this week. Decided to take my 5 yr old along with us. Trip was Miami to key west to Cozumel and back to Miami. I’m surprised I’m the first one to review because we just got off the ship today but it was a hell of an experience! Being my first cruise I didn’t know what to expect. But we traveled from NC(13hr trio to Miami) ONLY because I didn’t want to go to the Bahamas through Charleston. I purposely drove the extra 10hrs to go further south. Well Key west was ok. Just shops and restaurants. Second day should have been Cozumel but we were woken at 6:30am with an intercom call that we had to reroute to Nassau due to a crew member being hurt and needing no to be airlifted. So Nassau was the last place I wanted to visit, hence the drive to Miami. Nassau was dirty, boring, much cheaper trip than a Cozumel trip, so I believe I should be refunded in some way. But the kicker is...we were woke up at 3am this morning by people yelling “fire!!!” Outside our room. Ship was on fire on our hallway, the whole floor 6 was evacuated to the Lido deck. I had to wake my 5yr old up, with lifejackets fearing for our lives! They handed out blankets and we were made to wait. We were there til 5:30am so of course we didn’t get a bit of sleep to begin this 13hr trip home. Our room smelled horrible of smoke and our kid has lung issues so we should have never been sent back to the rooms. (Had to get luggage and had three hours to kill til we docked). Then when leaving, floor 6(who was up since 3am due to a fire!) was not priority to get off the ship. We should have been pushed first because we have had a terrible night, no sleep...but I felt like we just got kicked to the curb and were made to sit on the deck waiting for our floor to be called. Rude. Being my first time cruising, I will prob never go thru carnival again. Ever. Unless they apologize in some way and offer some sort of compensation for one of the worst experiences of my life! So let me start off by saying if this is your first cruise it will probably exceed your expectations because you have nothing to compare it to. However this is my third cruise and the third cruise line I’ve taken . In the past I’ve taken royal Caribbean and Norwegian. Carnival cruise line came in last place. I’m going o review the cabin, staff, food, and activities. The cabin: (3/5) The cabin space is a decent size. It does not have a couch or refrigerator. It does have a lot of closet space, a safe, and a normal size bathroom with shampoo and body wash. The things I didn’t like the bed which is 2 twin beds pushed together to create a king bed kept sliding apart from each other. There is nothing to hold the beds together. I also did not like the tv program was recorded shows and movies that kept playing over and over again the whole cruise. For those moments I wanted alone time in the room It was grueling watching tv. Staff: (2/5) The majority of the staff were awful. They had bad attitudes and acted like they did not want to be on board. I actually had a incident where a manicurist was talking trash about her client in front of me to her coworker. The manicurist called her client classless. I had another incident where I was asking a staff a question about the shi. he was so rude he interrupted me mid sentence, he was in such a panic so I told him to relax and asked him to let me finish. All he was doing was cleaning tables at the lido buffet room along with the 5 other staff , so I’m not sure why he was so rude. If you ask any of the other staff a question they either don’t know the answer, give you the wrong answer, or give you the right answer with an attitude. The staff was very lackluster. The only staff that I had a good experience with was our housekeeping, room attendant Rita and Deon the cruise activities director. Rita was very kind and helpful and Deon was fun, energetic and kind. The housekeeping made sure to smile and say good morning. Food: (2/5) The only food that was good was guys burgers. The lido buffet and fantasy/ecstasy dining room food has no flavor or seasoning. Activities: The activities onboard were average. The comedy was entertaining, comedian was funny. The music and show trivia was the best especially the ones the Deon hosted. Embarkation: This was a smooth, easy, and fast process. No problems here getting on or off the ship. Excursion: we did Damajagua waterfalls adventure through carnival. This was one of the most exhilarating and adventurous excursion we have done so far. Me and my partner jumped and slid down waterfalls into a river. First WARNING: there is a 40-45 minute hike uphill. This hike was so VERY difficult for someone like me who is not in shape however it is so worth it and it was a great way to work out. The first jump has 2 options to jump or take the ladder down into the river . 2nd WARNING ⚠️ The water is very cold. One lady went into shock when She went into the water she panicked because of the water temp and the floorless bottom of the water. We had life jackets so no one would drown. It is required to have water shoes they have rentals for $8 which were probably professional water shoes. I wish we would’ve rented versus buying them at Walmart. The tour guides are extremely helpful and they pretty much carried the terrified women down each waterfall. The tour included 7 slides and there was a guy who took pics and videotaped the adventure. At the end they sold the pics and video for $50. Read Less

I absolutely love my Carnival Cruises. You get a warm welcome as soon as you embark on the ship. Everyone is smiling and waiting to answer your questions. We traveled to Cayman Islands and Jamaica with 2 days of sea days. Our stateroom steward was very friendly and I love how he memorized all our names. The cabin was clean but there when my husband took a shower the bathroom floor flooded. There was a hole on the floor and they had duck tape to cover it. They should do a better job with repairs. I signed my 12 year old daughter for camp but she refused to attend it. I think they should have more entertainment for teenagers. We went to our sit down dinner every night and the food was really good and the service was impeccable. Carnival does an outstanding job making sure their employees provides outstanding service and that is important for me. We did not do excursions at Cayman Island or Jamaica, however, we did get off the ship and took a taxi to the nearest beach at both destinations.Disembarkation day was horrible. The ship was unable to dock in Miami at the scheduled 8:00 am time because of rough waters. This delayed our disembarkation by many hours thus leaving us to sit around waiting for them to call our cabin floor. Once we got off the ship we had to stand in line for about half an hour to go down to get our luggage and go through customs. Overall, the service of the employees was outstanding. I know that these people leave their countries for months without seeing their families and they work diligently all day and night to service us, the customers. I appreciate each and everyone of them and you can best believe that my next cruise will be with Carnival !! As a matter of fact, I booked a cruise to Cozumel on Carnival Paradise in May!! Can't wait !! Read Less

Husband and i took this trip as our first getaway kid free. We booked this particular one as they were places we hadn't been and at a great price... plus was just the right amount of time away. I was a little nervous after reading some reviews, but we had a great experience! The staff were friendly, room was always clean(outside room with picture window), the ship was clean, food and drinks were good, and the cruise director Deon was amazing! It is a smaller ship and older, so there is less.. but we always found things to do between shows and other things going on around the boat. Deon was awesome about letting everyone know what was happening and keeping everyone entertained. Our ports were Ochos Rios and Grand Cayman. Getting off the ship was a bit of a hassle at both ports, but have had the same experience on other ships. we would absolutely go again. Read Less

I'm almost shocked at some of these reviews.. Knowing I was on the ship at the same time as some of the people who gave negative reviews! I never smelt sewage on this ship, I went between all floors, and never smelt it once. I promise you I am very sensitive to smell and would have noticed. This was my first cruise so i cannot compare this ship to any others. I 100% enjoyed myself and having been back for only 2 weeks I am already trying to find people to book another trip with. The only bad experience I had was Jamaica. The people on the island who harass you ruin the experience. Not the ships fault, but I would never go back to Jamaica for this reason. My family could not even talk to each other due to getting interrupted every couple minutes. My room was always spotless and the cleaning staff remember your name and address you every time they see you. The food was acceptable. The burger place was the highlight of the food options. I’ve gone on four cruises including this one. This is my third ship; i went on the Carnival Victory twice and on a Royal Caribbean ship once. I enjoy carnival’s friendly staff and excursions and affordability. This was the best value trip around this time of year considering number of nights, ports, and total cost, according to a spreadsheet I had put together. The cruise director, Deon, was great. Very energetic and friendly with an infectious joy. The staff were all pretty friendly. I like that they make the effort to remember your name and smile and say hi when they see you. The ship itself is in poor condition. There is a very distinct smell of sewage at decks 3 through 7 in the hallways. There are only two laundry rooms with 3 W/D combos and 2 ironing boards each. The ship’s body has a lot of rust and old water stains. Our bathroom had half its lightbulbs out. There is only one outlet in the room we were in (interior double porthole), as well as one outlet in the bathroom that will only work if you have the light switch on. The shower water pressure is good, and the water gets hot almost instantly. It’s pretty difficult to get drinking water. There aren’t any water fountains of any sort. You can buy bottled water for $3.75 or go to the dining halls, or drink the water from the sink. Activities on the ship weren’t too varied. Karaoke, live music, and shopping took up most of the docket. I was happy to see the love & marriage show in the schedule, but wish there was also a battle of the sexes game and some other games with audience participants. With three of our five days being at sea, a better variety of hands-on events and not just performances would have been more stimulating. The excursions we took were amazing! Dunn’s River Falls and Zip line in Ocho Rios Jamaica was adventurous and fun. Rides to excursion weren’t too long. The Kayak and stingray City was absolutely the highlight and my favorite thing out of all cruises I’ve taken so far. We kayaked at a leisurely pace through the mangroves and saw lots of iguanas and even got to hold a jellyfish. We had ample time in stingray city. Everyone got to hold the stingray and take pictures, with time to spare. Be prepared to bring cash to tip your excursion guides and drivers. Despite the great excursions, the poor quality of the ship really brought down the experience for me. I’m not a seasoned cruiser quite yet, but in comparison to the three others I’ve taken, this is the worst ship by far. I just couldn’t get over the smell. They also didn’t have any staff performances at dinner time, which was always my favorite part of the carnival cruises. Any time we had to disembark the ship, it took almost 30-45 minutes and it was hectic and unorganized. They could easily have cut the time in half if they had opened another line (which they definitely could have—there was a whole lane just not being used) for onboarding and offboarding. I hope they retire this ship soon. Dining options were good. Our server always forgot my soda whenever I ordered one, though. They would charge me and then I would have to ask for it again halfway through my main course. I personally don’t think the soda package is worth it unless you drink 2+ sodas at lunch and dinner. You have to go to the bar to get sodas for lunch. Other ships I’ve been on had Coca Cola Freestyle machines to dispense soda at your own leisure. Read Less

This was my first cruise. As we entered the ship, everything seemed alright. When we became more accustomed to the ship, I started noticing things. The chairs on the main deck with bird feces on the side and parts around the main deck smelled like sewage. Very disgusting. The buffet food was mediocre and best and the crew rarely smiled. The stench of weed engulfed the hallways, just to paint a picture of the type of people were on board. Everything was overpriced from $25 dollar mini sunscreens, $270 massages, and $3.75 waters. It was definitely not an “all inclusive” experience. When we docked to go to Jamaica and the Grand Cayman Islands, we had about 3 hours to acutually enjoy ourselves as waiting in line and disembarking took a lomg time as well as returning back on the ship. I will say that the cruise director Dion was very energetic and engaging with the passengers as well as the cleaning crew who did a great job. Overall, if this is what cruises are like, I’m never going back on one again. Read Less

My daughters booked this cruise for themselves and several college friends and I tagged along. I was reading the reviews after she booked and got very worried! We've been on Carnival cruise before but never this ship. I literally imagined I was going to be stepping into a sewage filled, awful smelling, very very very old, dated ship with disgusting food and boring entertainment. Let me ASSURE you~ this is NOT the case! 1st off- embarkation was a breeze. We were at the Miami port. We selected a 12;30-1;00 arrival time but decided to get to the the port early- hoping there was a slim chance they'd let us on early. We arrived at 11:15, were immediately sent through the line, checked in and ON the ship eating lunch at 11;45. Super easy, fast, friendly process. We stayed in inside state rooms (1st time -had ocean suite before) - 3 of us in each room. We stayed in R59 and R63. I was pleasantly surprised by how much room we had. Tons of storage space - 2 huge closets with a safe and suitcases all fit nicely under the beds. Rooms very clean. Beds were very comfortable and made up every night -I slept on the twin trundle that pulled down. I'm not sure I'd ever spend the money on a suite again as it's double the price. We were never in the room anyways! Dion was the cruise director and this guy is truly passionate about his job. He is highly entertaining, engaging and hilarious in every single aspect. Thank you Dion!! Hidy Ho~ I gotta Go! The buffet food was plentiful and tasty~ Im not a huge fan of buffets but so many choices- never had a problem finding something I liked. Pizza open 24 hours. Guys Burgers were a big hit with all the teens. The sit downs were fabulous- some of the best salmon I've ever tasted. The only complaint is that the portions were very small in comparison to our last cruise. A few nights, we ended up scarfing down pizza about an hour later because we were still hungry! The game show was a riot, the comedians were fabulous and the other shows were fun too! We chose the express check out- carried our own luggage out so we could get off ship quickly. Left at 7:45 am. Took about 15 minutes from leaving our room to stepping into our shuttle back to the hotel. This is a fantastic cruise for the money. I would highly recommend it for 1st time cruises or if on a tight budget. The ship is clean, the staff is amazing, you will get so much bang for your buck. Read Less

As I first boarded the ship, I wasn't prepared for how small and aged the ship was going to be. Being my 7th cruise, this was the smallest ship I have cruised on. The overall decor of the ship was outdated (carpets, walls, signage, etc.) and everything was purple. As far as entertainment on board, the broadway style shows and comedian acts were both fantastic. Our cruise director, Deon, was funny, energetic, and new how to keep a crowd entertained. The food quality on board wasn't terrible, but I have had better food on other Carnival ships. The selection of food was great though with many different options at both the Lido deck buffets and in the dining rooms. The dining experience in the dining room was great. All of the staff are friendly, remember your name and food preferences, as well as put on some good entertainment during dinner. I have always been a fan of Carnival's drink selection and quality of drinks. I highly recommend the Cheers Program if you are going to have more than 5 drinks a day. The Alchemy Bar is my favorite bar on board. They have the best quality drinks and the bar staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. The ports that we went to were Princess Cays and Nassau, Bahamas. This was my first trip to Princess Cays, which is one of Carnival's private islands. You are able to get off the boat and find a beach chair right by the water. The food on the island is included so you don't need to go back to the ship for lunch or buy lunch like at most ports. You are able to buy drinks from the bartenders that will come right up to your chair and charge them to your stateroom and not have to worry about having any cash. As far as Nassau, I must say that I am not usually a fan. You have to take a taxi to pretty much anywhere you want to go, there is not much to do right when you walk off the ship. This is definitely a port you want to book an excursion at so that you have something planned getting off the boat. Overall, I thought this cruise was a good value for what you pay for. Staying in a suite made the trip better. Having our room accessible very close to the Lido deck was great. Having priority embarkation/debarkation as well as priority getting on the water shuttles was well worth it as well. Read Less

I was invited to join a birthday group traveling to the Bahamas. We cruised on the Carnival Sensation. The staff was quite friendly, I must say! Our steward was very outgoing (the three times we saw him), our dining room service team of Alex, Soe, and Karla was magnificent, and the cruise director Deon kept the party going! Those were the very best parts. The cruise ship is kept pretty clean. I could not rave about our housekeeping team or our steward, who was never available by the direct line that he offered to us on the 1st day. Bathroom was not kept clean or stocked until day 2/3 or so, which was disappointing. Regarding the food...the reviews on this site are accurate in that the buffet, IMO, is terrible. I chose to stick with Guy's Burger Joint (surprisingly delicious), the Blue Iguana (tasty taco bar), and the Main Dining Room fare. I really wish that there were other dining options; I got pretty tired of having burgers and tacos almost every day for lunch. The main dining room was the best bet (brunch/dinner only). The portions are tiny, considering the limitless dining offering (you can enjoy as many dishes as you'd like--the entire menu can be had for dinner). We chose open dining, too, which was a nice flexible option. We also enjoyed the Cheers alcohol package, which I HIGHLY recommend. The bartenders are pretty slow-moving, and not super friendly, unlike the rest of staff...however, the package pays for itself in 5 drinks or so throughout the course of the day. The cruise ship director Deon made a BIG impact on this trip. He livened up every night (and day) with his beautiful singing voice, great sense of humor, and vivacious personality. My sister is booking another trip solely because of him, so...there you have it! The nightly entertainment, games, and shows were available almost everywhere, so there truly is ALWAYS something to do. There are also quiter activities like board games in the library, yoga/morning stretch, gym time, and more. The ports-of-call were delightful. Princess Cays was beyond beautiful. Nassau was more authentic, but I found it to be a lot less clean than expected. The straw market was full of repeated stalls, but I was able to get great, "handmade" gifts well within my budget. I also especially enjoyed a vendor in the promenade near the Tortuga store (where I also tasted some great rum and cake, and the ladies were so friendly). I would have liked to have traveled off the main thruway, but was nervous about going it alone. I also voided the jeweler's row that we were encouraged by the cruiseline sales team to visit; it was not for me. Overall: a nice and relaxing trip with the girls. You could not beat the options for "fun," for which Carnival is known. There are activities abound and a lively spirit brought about by the Cruise director and friendly staff. The affordability, as well, probably can not be beat. I would like to try cruising again, perhaps on another line or a nicer ship (the Sensation is outdated, apparently), as I would love to have more dining options. I looked forward to eating well on this trip, and was a little disappointed. I enjoyed my vacation nonetheless. Read Less

The fee for wi-fi is outrageous. Fresh clean drinking water is a rare commodity. The water you get from the soft drink dispenser taste like sewer water. The only soft drinks they offer after breakfast is lemonade n green tea. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT WASTE TIME CRUISING TO PRINCESS CAYS. Its an island owned by Carnival, n there is nothing much to it. Just another way to get u to put money in their pockets. Some of the halls smell like straight doo-doo. The staff is great. The seem over worked but still pleasant. The rooms r small n beds r uncomfortable. Plenty of activities for everyone. From comfy shows to karaoke to night clubs. I wish they were more strict on smoking. Read Less

This ship is old and needs to be taken out of Carnival's fleet. When I walked into our cabin it smelled like raw sewage. I thought that maybe the staff had used the bathroom right before we came into the room. We had an interior room and the bed for me and my husband were twin beds (a top and bottom bunk). The chair and bench in the room were dingy and torn and I had to put a towel over them to sit down. I went to Guest Service and informed them of the smell and about the bed. They came and sprayed the bathroom and brought in another fold out bed and put it beside the bottom bed. The mattress was so soft (just not a good bed). I didn't smell the sewage smell anymore in our room, but did smell it in the hallway. The towels were dingy and hard. There were sink holes in the hallways and in the staterooms. The lunch and dinner on the Lido was not good (breakfast was good). It took us over an hour to get our food in the Ecstasy dining, so we stopped going. Deon, the Cruise Director was great and the entertainment was great too. I will not cruise on this ship again and wouldn't advise other people too. Pay a little more money for a better ship. We choose this cruise as we wanted to go on a New Year's Eve cruise. It was a little pricey for 5 days, but for this time of year it was expected. I had read the reviews about the ship, so I was a little concerned about the wear and tear. I was pleasantly surprised, our room was fine and the décor & seating around the ship looked good. The place that really needs a lot of attention is the windows, a majority were very dirty. We had an ocean view room and you could see the build up in the corners. Our stateroom steward, Leo, was very attentive to us. The quilt on my daughter's bed had a mark on it and he changed it right away. Our cabin was perfect for us and very clean. For the entertainment, our cruise director, Deon, truly made the trip enjoyable. He is so energetic and made us laugh with his quick wit. The events at the atrium bar on the Empress deck were the best. I hope he will be the director on our next cruise. For the food, it was good. There were a couple of nights we ordered surf and turf from the speciality menu ($$) as the nightly options and standard menu did not have choices we liked. Our hospitality crew was great. Arnel, our head waiter, was fantastic!!!1 For our port stop in Ocho Rios, we did an ATV excursion booked through Carnival. I wanted to do something that my husband would enjoy. This was the best excursion, we all had a great time, the ride was about an hour and a half through trails and back roads. Prior to heading out, they offered us the option to pre-order lunch (jerk chicken) that arrived shortly after we returned from the ride. As this is a staple in Jamaica, we got it. It was really delicious and I suggest getting it. Another fun part of the excursion was the jump off a cliff into the ocean. My daugther did it 3 times. She loved it. If we ever go back to Ocho Rios, we would do this excursion again. Remember to take tip money with you as we had 3 guides with us. I would recommend to have small bills as there is a store where you can buy drinks and souvenirs, but she didn't have much change. We also stopped in Grand Cayman, where we walked around the town and got lunch on the water. We love this port. Overall, we loved everything about this cruise. It was a little pricey for only being 5 days. Read Less

My fiancé and I were invited to go on this cruise with close friends and their family. We had never cruised with Carnival before, but did enjoy the ship. There were a few things that stuck out to me as odd: 1. There was a strong odor of sewage that either was in our room or on the main decks. 2. While there were activities to do, the activities that did not cost extra money lacked. There was only one ping pong table, and it was mostly hogged by younger kids. 3. The pool was small, and packed in by many adults and kids. Although they offer a “serenity area” (21+), it only included two hot tubs, about 40 beach chairs, and no pool. They also have a dress code for the serenity area which seemed strange to me. Besides those three things, it was a great experience. I would cruise with Carnival again, but not on the sensation. I believe there are a few kinks they need to work out. The dinning room was beautiful and the food was fantastic, especially for the price in comparison to other cruise lines. We chose this cruise solely based on price. We've been on dozens of cruises with all the major cruise lines. We knew going in that it was an older ship, and mainly just wanted a nice few days away from the cold weather. There were some things about this cruise that pleasantly surprised me and other things that were disappointing. Embarkation The embarkation was one of the easiest we've ever done. They let you schedule a time to arrive at the port. Miami is a pretty easy port to navigate. We walked right up and a woman scanned our pre-printed tickets and directed us onto the ship. There was no waiting or anything. They said our rooms wouldn't be ready until around 2pm so we went to the buffet. At around 1:15pm they called out to everyone and said our rooms were ready. Stateroom There were 2 of us in an interior stateroom. The room is definitely dated, but looks pretty much like every other interior stateroom on every cruise ship. It was cramped and tiny but I thought it was somewhat larger than other ships we've been on. The beds were pretty comfortable. The bathroom also seemed slightly larger than on other ships. The towels seemed kind of old and had stains on them. There was a handheld shower faucet and the pressure was pretty good. The walls are pretty thin so we could always hear people talking and kids running around outside. Entertainment/Activities The cruise director's name was Kevin. He looked kind of like Gordon Ramsay. He was pretty funny, but he made way too many announcements over the intercom. Every 5 minutes we'd have to stop our conversation to listen to a long announcement about bingo or whatever. We didn't really go to many of the shows. The guy in the piano bar was great. He played a wide variety of stuff (not just Piano Man and Sweet Caroline). They have a number of bands throughout the ship and I thought all of them were fantastic. We played trivia a couple of times. It's not the typical trivia but more geared towards pop culture (e.g. Friends trivia, etc.). Food The food was excellent on this ship. They have a 24 hour pizzeria and deli which had great fresh pizza. There was also a 24 hour self-serve soft serve ice cream machine. The buffet had a different theme everyday (e.g. Italian, French, Caribbean, etc.). On the whole, the food there was decent. They also had a great mexican place with really good tacos and burritos. And then there was a Guy Fieri burger place. Aside from the constant Guy Fieri catchphrases blasting from the TV, I thought the food there was excellent. The food in the main dining room was a little underwhelming in my opinion. Not the greatest quality, but not bad. They seemed to seat everybody at giant shared tables. I find on most other cruise lines, they tend to have smaller tables where you can have a private table. They did have smaller tables upon request but they seemed very reluctant to give them out even though they always seemed to be empty. Ports Our cruise went to Key West and Cozumel. We arrived in Key West around 8am and left early around 1pm. I really like Key West and wish we had more time there, but it was nice to walk around and eat some key lime pie. In Cozumel, we arrived around noon and left around 9pm. Most of the beaches close around 5pm so there wasn't much to do there after that unless your into getting blasted at Senor Frogs. Overall Overall, it was nice cruise. The worst part of the trip was that the entire ship smelled of sewage (especially in the hallways and staterooms). It was super gross. I think they need to take this ship out of commission for a few weeks and fix their sewage problems. Other than that, I ate a ton of food, got some sun, and relaxed a lot. So I can't complain. The entire ship smelled like sewage, which made it hard to enjoy sitting outside at all. Our room smelled. I had a headache most of the time. The door to the dining room completely came off in my hand. There were spit balls on the ceiling of the room, there was a ring in the toilet the entire time as if it hadn't been cleaned, one of the lights in the bathroom was old and broken, the towel rack was broken and left on the floor by housekeeping, our toilet broke on several times which prevented us from flushing the toilet, the drain in the sink had a slimy mildew on it which caused the sink to stop up and drain slow. The towels had stains on them and were dingy. The carpets in the halls sunk in when you walked. It was a mess to say the least. I have reached out to their customer service department about this several times and I'm still waiting on a response. I even made complaints on the ship, and was never given the option to move. Went on this trip with my family and a travel group. My second time traveling with this group and had a lovely time. We left from Miami to Princess Cay Island which was lovely. This island is privately owned by cruise company and the you can use your room key to purchase here. Also Carnival provided lunch on the island. Next stop was Nassau, Bahamas we did a guided tour this time 20.00 per person which I could hear others saying different prices which varying from 20.00 to 30.00 pp. The guided tour was cool I got see a little more of the island. Food on this cruise was okay. Breakfast we ate at the omelet bar which was delicious with your your choice of fresh vegetables, cheese, bacon or ham. They also had a all you can eat side with pancakes, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, hash browns, baked beans, bacon, sausage and breakfast burritos. There is also a area that offers brunch where they bring the food to you. Lunch they had typical burger joint which I stuck with. They had a salad bar and a taco bar. Drinks we got the free stuff (I learned from my first trip I do not drink enough soda to even bother with the plan) orange juice, lemonade, cranberry juice and water. Side note: bring a travel cup so you do not have to make a bunch of trips to the ice machine. We often are dinner in the assigned fine dining Restaurant. On the last night we went in the casual dining Restaurant and I was not too happy with it dried out pasta with vegetables that I had to mix with another dish to give some life back to the dish. Wait staff was SUPER AWESOME my 6 yr old niece was having a moment and the waiter went over and beyond to calm her down. Each night he would show her different ways to fold animal napkins, he did magic tricks for the kid and us adults. The room stewart was awesome too! He was very tentative to our needs. My heads up is about if you have a strong sense of smell you might have a problem. We smelled what at least think was the smell of raw sewage twice on this ship. Once in our room and the other time was in the Restaurant where they did brunch. The smell greeted you at the door but not in the back. The staff faces looked like they could smell it too, you know the look where you hold your breath so you don't smell anything and putting your hand right below your nose so you can smell your hand lotion. Overall: the trip was enjoyable we made some memories and that is all that matters. Will I travel Sensation again: Probably not due to the smell issues only. Read Less

We had a great cruise. Some things we normally receive have been discontinued, chocolates on pillow, smaller portions in MDR. We had a great time. Kevin the Cruise Director was great, Adrian our favorite bartender never let us down. Juno was an excellent waiter in the MDR. This was our second cruise on Sensation, and the ship is older but still had a blast. Staff was friendly. Husband and I are both Veterans and went to the Veterans Service on Veterans Day and it was great. So many amazing veterans on the ship. Bang Bang BK was great as Bingo caller and as part of the entertainment staff. Will definitely continue to cruise with Carvnival Curise Line. We like to cruise on the smaller ships so we will just have to deal with the older ships with less of the modern services. All in all Carnival still gets our vaction dollars. Read Less

Just got back from this cruise. I am a platinum member. Worst ship in the fleet. Rooms was terrible. My friends had a hole in the floor in their bathroom. Walking around the ship there was a smell of raw sewage. The ship was dirty and rusty all over. Not like other cruise lines. Seems like Carnival doesn’t care about quality. They just want to offer a cheap cruise to the masses. Took the beach house excursion in Amber Cove. Staff never told us there was a resort area right in the port. Carnival did credit us for half the excursion. If you want to go on Carnival I recommend the Glory,Breeze,Dream,Vista or Horizon. Entertainment needs to be upgraded. They gave the same shoes all the time with entertainers that Simon would make fun of. Watching the shows is like pulling teeth. So stay away from Sensation and spend s little more. Read Less

The dining room was our favorite place to dine. The food was great and we enjoyed being waited on. We were not a huge fan of the buffet lines so decided dining was best for us. ALL of the staff we encountered were happy and helpful. The ship itself is old and felt dated but our overall experience was fun. We did beach excursions in both the Jamaica and Grand Cayman ports. I highly recommmend doing an excursion. You get to see more of the island and have an accommodating beach visit. The on ship entertainment was great. There was always something fun to entertain us. We loved the comedians! Being at sea was gorgeous so we equally just enjoyed grabbing a lounge chair and soaking up the sun. If you are sensitive to motion have your doctor prescribe a patch. My husband and I both wore them and we didn’t have any problems. I wouldn’t want to risk it and go without. Read Less

We picked up this cruise as part of a timeshare promotion. The travel dates were convenient to our work schedule and we were avoiding going to Mexico or Cuba. We upgraded to the porthole room. I was very happy with the porthole, as its primary purpose was to give us a daylight wake-up call. Last cruise we had a window, which we couldn't see out of anyway. We chose early seated dining. No complaints. Service and food were good. I was a little surprised that they nailed the jerked chicken wings. We really enjoyed the hot Jamaican coffee. The alchemy bar was cool, with neat drinks. The bartender could have used a personality infusion. Bar service on the Serenity deck was terrible and only went to 17:00. The entertainment troupe was good, far and away better than our last Carnival cruise. We booked the Ocho Rios excursion through Carnival, Bamboo Beach Club VIP. The VIP part of the beach was nice (plenty of shade), but it wasn't far from the rest of the beach. Not quite as loud. The staff provided constant food and drink service. No snorkeling at this beach. As a whole, I wish we had not booked through the cruise line. At Grand Cayman we did not book an excursion. We walked over to Eden Rock dive center and rented a locker. I count this as one of the better decisions in my life. We snorkeled until we became concerned about sunburn. Rinsed off and changed at the dive center then went shopping. This will now be our go-to stop in Grand Cayman, and I suggest anybody else interested in snorkeling or diving do the same. Read Less

I chose this cruise due to the destination ports of Jamaica & Grand Cayman & the low price. After reading previous reviews and comments, I really wasn't looking forward to cruising on the Sensation but decided to just have an open mind. Much to my surprise, I actually enjoyed the ship and cruise. Of course it is an older ship so theres obvious wear and tear throughout the ship. But nothing that made me uncomfortable or dampened my mood. The entire cruise I chose not to eat at the buffet due to the previous negative reviews and chose to instead eat at Guy's Burger Joint, Dining room(Breakfast on sea day & dinner nightly), and had an ample amount of pizza which were all better than expected. Never went in the pool because there was always a crowd since there is just one pool on the entire ship, but did hop in the Jacuzzi in the Serenity(21 & up) section quite a few times. Our cruise directer was Kevin, and he did a really good job and was enjoyable. All in all i enjoyed myself on this cruise, not saying that it was "the best cruise" or anything but if you just go wanting to enjoy your time and not worrying about nitpicking any and everything you see, you'll enjoy yourself as well. (Also the entire staff was awesome and always friendly and willing to help especially our room steward Sigit, who was AWESOME. Read Less

My husband, daughter, son in law, our 8 year old granddaughter and myself cruised from Miami to Key West, Cozumel, and back to Miami this year from Nov 1 thru Nov 5. The cruise itself was fun and enjoyable. There were some issues with some minor things- towels looking yellow instead of white, rusted toilet, beds uncomfortable, dining room service was good, but extremely slow getting food out. All entertainment was really good and my granddaughter really enjoyed the slides. It was the disenbarkment that was a nightmare. When we were all getting off the boat my husband and myself was rudely pulled out of line and we were told that my husband was being detained by customs and we were going to be escorted. We were so confused and didn’t have any idea what was going on. This lady that was screaming and pushing everyone out of the way to get us where she wanted us to go. She was screaming at me telling me I was to go outside and wait on my husband. Once we got to the point where we were going to be separated she pointed to another rude lady and told me to go “over there”. Once I got there this second lady told me I was in the wrong line and sent me back to the original lady and she began screaming at me and said “I TOLD YOU to go over there and to leave” I was trying to tell her I was trying to leave but I was sent back to her. After my husband was taken away from me I finally made it outside. Finally my husband game out and said that there was another person with his name that had a felony warrant out on him and they THOUGHT it was him. After having policemen surrounding my husband, finger prints, taking his picture, looking at his license, birth certificate they figured out he was the WRONG Person. This nightmare lasted over an hour. I was devastated and was scared to death not knowing where my husband was. I understand people have jobs, but what happen to the hospitality, professionalism, kindness with people? Carnival embarrassed not only us but themselves. This far from being over.... but I wanted to share this so you can be prepared if this happens to you. Read Less
