We have we have been on many cruises in the last ten years with different companies but this company they Was no entertainment on the ship what so ever for age group under 65 . Many guest complaining about all sorts of things, mainly the lack of entertainment through Sea days and evening entertainment .Drinks very very expensive , excursions also very expensive , we had to complain about drinks ...
We have not cruised with HA since 2011. In the interim we have cruised with Oceania, and HA suffers in comparison.
We chose this cruise because of the itinerary - we wanted to visit several ports in Indonesia. Apparently we were not the only ones who felt this way - the cruise was fully booked. When we booked the stateroom level were interested in was booked up. We made our booking for a BB ...
We chose the cruise for 2 reasons. To experience the Brand with a view to using them again and to see the destinations on this trip. That was - Hong Kong down to Indonesia. The ship is dated and the air con is ferocious everywhere. People were in the show lounge each night with outdoor coats on. Whilst some people do stick to the dress code, it is not encouraged and there are people in the ...
Usually, when we get off a cruise, we wonder how we will endure everyday life without a room steward or all those wonderful meals that magically appear. After this cruise, 14 days on Holland America’s Volendam from Hong Kong to Singapore, we didn’t find the transition back to day-to-day life difficult. For the most part, we found nearly everything okay on the cruise along with a few glitches. ...
We are a 3 star Mariner with Holland America working towards our 4 star. We go away every winter and liked the itinerary of this cruise. We were on for a total of 42 days.
We like to listen to the piano and violin entertainment with a martini before dinner. Adagio, Andreea and Alexandru were fantastic.
The food on this ship has slipped. The worst French Onion soup I have ever had. The ...
My Volendam experience overall was positive . The Indonesia and Far East discovery cruise was perfect length of time to experience the flavour of SE Asia. As a single traveler I found the itinerary and the price reasonable. This was my second HAL experience and it was a great way to embrace cruising in a safe and interesting way. I cannot comment about the ship other than to say it was clean ...
Last January I traveled from Hong Kong to Singapore on the Volendaam. I have thought long and hard about this review, and I tried to contact someone at Holland America to talk about it, but I got no response better than a brush off "You reported a sharp zip", which is an untruth. It is possible that they did act on my correspondence; if so, they gave no indication of that, so here it is.
My ...
We chose this cruise because of the price,
Stayed at the Ascot hotel great price great room, Singapore can be expensive.
Can be skipped in my opinion.
Getting on and off the ship was very smooth
The Ship is Older however the cabin we had on the second level midship window was in very good shape, the ride was one of the best we've had smooth and quiet.
Dining is still very good (for ...
The itinerary was the main reason for choosing Hal, and my last cruise with them was 2003. So the rose coloured glasses came off pretty quick the first day when half the food choices for us were quite ordinary. At night some of the menu items were also suspect, but we quickly came to pick thru the choices, so most of our meals then were wonderful.
The decor of the ship was top notch, and the ...
We have previously completed HAL cruises to Myanmar and Hong Kong from Singapore. This Indonesia cruise was the missing link. We have been to Singapore many, many times. Stayed at Sofitel So. The only highlights were the Telok Ayer Food Market next door to the hotel. and the Botanic Gardens.
Most ports of call were forgettable with heavy traffic. Shuttles only went to shopping malls. Lombok ...
