I have just returned from a cruise round the Adriatic with my daughter and her husband. Normally for this I would book a double room with balcony and a cabin for them with balcony for single occupancy for myself. On this occasion booking with Marella/TUI they would not accept single bookings (for obvious reasons). I found however that by booking through another agent (Iglu) I could have the ...
I thought I’d share with you all our thoughts from our First Marella Cruise. It’s a long one as I’ll simply re-post to TripAdvisor and Cruise Critic. I also shared lots of pictures and videos on both Instagram and Tiktok so feel free to search for Explorewithethan2021 for more information.
We had a fantastic time and travelled with my disabled sister and toddler. We’d absolutely book another ...
We booked this cruise a week before we went to be away for my husband’s birthday. We are frequent cruisers but normally with Princess and for the last several years, with Celebrity. When we read the reviews on this site about the Marella Explorer, we were quite anxious about what we would experience but we were pleasantly surprised. The Explorer doesn’t have the finesse, space or luxury that we ...
This was our 1st cruise with Marella, but have been on other cruises, mainly Celebrity.
The organisation was very good, from the flights to the transfers and embarkation all went smoothly, as did the reverse part at the end of the cruise.
The ship was lovely, well maintained and it didn’t feel like an old ship.
MDR could be hit and miss with regard to quality but the marketplace was ...
Had great food on this cruise and the entertainment was first class too. Shame about the cleanliness. Had to call the domestic staff in to address the issue and still fell short of acceptable. Have left the feedback for the cruise line and they haven't bothered to respond. I would travel with them again but I would be prepared to clean my own cabin next time. With covid and norovirus I think we ...
I have been with marella a few times. Never glamorous but used to be functional and efficient. Not now. The food in the main restaurants would appear to have come from a 1970’s prison ship and we had mild food poisoning after 2 nights. I know they are cost cutting but the cooking was amazingly bad. Maybe the worst I have ever seen in a commercial setting. The deep fried long hair in the calamari ...
Oh dear. A disappointing experience. The ship is kept very clean. The balcony was large and the hammock was a nice touch. Muster drills are now on video and are faster than before. But:
Tui/Marella has now sunk so far downmarket that I am surprised they don’t market this as a submarine. The ship is now so mediocre and lacking in character, charm or features that it now resembles a floating ...
We realize that: "You-pay-for-what-you-get" and the total package price of an inclusive cruise (incl drinks & tips) may not be compared to other cruise lines where you pay double or triple cruise fares, excluding drinks or tips. So the overall experience we felt was: very friendly staff (and do anything to make you comfortable) and the ship looks clean and well kept.
Than what did we miss ...
My husband and I decided to go away for Christmas, our travel agent recommended this ship,as she had just had a good holiday on it,we decided to make it for two weeks over the new year as well. From stepping on the ship I was emmediately impressed, not only by the fabulous Xmas decorations, but the friendliness of staff,it was plain sailing to our cabin on the 9th floor, with a lovely welcome from ...
We have been with TUI many times before but this last trip has been the worst.
From the start the Covid pass checking process was a shambles, you couldnt here the safety video and the whole thing took to long.
The standard of food on offer in the buffet has gone down in my opinion, from the meat selection to the standard of cooking, even the vegetables were not cooked properly, the selection ...
