We took the cruise to see Cuba. The first stop was Key West, which was great (as always) but way too short of a stopover. Cuba is a beautiful country and most of the people we met were quite nice, but guarded, The tour guides could hardly speak English and were propaganda robots for the Cuban government, but the Taxi driver was great (and he got a big tip). My biggest problems were the following: (1) the Cuban Government rips off Americans on the money exchange ($86.00 back per $100.00 getting off the boat and another charge to redeem the CUCs for Dollars); (2) the Cuban Government says Americans can't use Dollars and charge cards, but we saw numerous places and tourists who accepted them or paid with them; (3) We tried to do an evening cabaret show excursion through Carnival (for $75.00), but when we tried to board the bus, we were refused entry because we wore dress shorts; the ticket did say no shorts but the print was so small it was unreadable and had a line through it, which in legal terms should have meant it did not apply; the bus agent would not give us time to go back on the ship and change, even though we were told by friends the bus waited 20 minutes more for other people (of course, there was no refund for the excursion); and (4) even though Carnival sells onshore excursions in Havana after 8:00 PM, and knows the money exchanges close at 8 PM, and there is no way to exchange the CUCs upon returning to the ship because Carnival refuses to provide this service and leaves port before 8:00 AM. I wonder if Carnival gets a percentage of the rip-off. Overall, the Carnival dining experience has gone way down from past years (at least on the Paradise), and the company does not give a hoot about how its passengers get ripped off for money by being able to exchange CUCs for Dollars after coming back to the ship after an evening excursion. Also, what we saw of Havana was mostly very poor; there are many old classical buildings with great architecture, which have either collapsed or are in the process of collapsing because nothing has been done to preserve them. Bottom line: Save you money and tour another country - preferably on another cruise line. Read Less

I chose Carnival because (1) I have never sailed on Carnival and I had been on 7 cruises prior and (2) because Tampa port is close to home so I didn't have to spent money on port parking or a hotel the night before. I read the reviews and was already aware of the dry dock this ship had gone thru recently so I figured it couldn't be so bad with all the renovations. I'm not even sure where to start. This review isn't about the ship itself but all about the running or operations of this floating asylum. BARS: and this is for the bars or clubs that were actually OPEN, since most of the time when we were out and about a lot of space was not being used. The bars that were open, were crowded of course (United Stated Bar which is just outside the casino, the Atrium bar, pool bars (Rum bar and the tequila bar) and only had ONE, that's right 1 bartender. And that ONE bartender made no habit of scanning the bar from one end to the other to see who has walked up outside of his straight forward line of sight. So if you're standing off to the left or right for several minutes and someone walks up directly in front of the bartenders eyes, they are getting service first. FOOD: worst ever on all of my 7 cruises. The "buffet" was a joke in itself. There are literally approximately 20 food items on this buffet (one on each side), lacked any taste whatsoever and were cold by the time we sat down, which tells me they weren't even warm to begin with up there. And FYI Carnival, probably not a good choice to leave out BOXES AND BOXES of frozen "shrimp on a stick". At least give us some hope that the food is being prepared SOMEWHERE and not just thrown into a microwave. And how do you even get shrimp in the shape of stick anyway? SALAD BARS: constantly out of food items, including the caesar salad, that's a big NO NO! It's salad, not something you need to spend 20 minutes chopping and dressing. Open up another bag, make it look appetizing, and bring it out. CARNIVAL DELI: ate there twice. Once for breakfast because I was sick of the same old breakfast items so wanted some eggs over medium. What I got was overcooked FRIED EGGS that were as crispy as they bacon on the buffet. The other time I visited was for a sandwich, because low and behold the buffet was CLOSED. What? Where is all the endless food they rave about on cruises? Don't look for that on this boat. Anyway I ordered a, Arugula, Pepper and Mozzarella on Ciabatta sandwich. Why was I surprised when I was told, "out of Ciabatta and no Arugula". WTH is it on the menu for then? PIZZA PIRATE: OMG stay way. If you a Royal Caribbean cruiser, please DO NOT think you are getting Sorrento's service here. One person behind the counter, they ask the first couple people what kind of pizza they want, disappear to the back for like 5-10 minutes, probably to put the pizza in the microwave or toaster oven, come back and deal with the next two or three people in line. I'm used to having a variety of pizzas already out and waiting and more coming out every minute or so that you don't have a line of 50 kids waiting for pizza that gets wasted and thrown out anyway because kids are just that, wasteful! Terrible system here. Oh let's not forget about GUYS Burger joint and the taco/burrito bar outside on the pool deck. Just FYI these places are not open all the time. Guys is open until the "so-called buffet" inside starts serving which is 6pm I believe. So if you want a burger and fries after 6pm you are OUTTA LUCK! Even worse, the taco/burrito place next to Guys closes at 3-3:30, so don't look for any of that for dinner. And if you are an early dinner eater, like some of the older folks, your only choice for food will be the dining room (yuk) starting at 5:30 or the burger joint (I've had way better burgers at Five Guys) which is open until 6. And speaking of dining room, check the menu and then check the buffet. Don't be surprised when you see some of the same items on both. SMOKING! on all cruises I have been on there are designated smoking area. Outside on one of the decks, and that is not a designated deck of your choice, smokers! And also in the casino, which is disgusting all together. You really limit the people who are willing to drop money in a casino when you allow smoking. Carnival also has a bar just OUTSIDE the casino that allows smoking at one end of it. Well, that's make total sense now doesn't it? Now forcing the non smokers, who want to keep their lungs healthy, down to other end of the bar (that has one bartender who doesn't look beyond their forward line of sight)! ENTERTAINMENT: not to what I am used to. The singing was something off of a talent TV show and the dancing, well lets just say wouldn't make it past auditions for So You Think You Can Dance. I just don't know where else I can take this review other than getting personal about the 90% of type of people that choose Carnival, so I will end it here. I tried it and can honestly say you get what you pay for. And for those that say Carnival is the cheaper route, do your research. Read Less

I didn't choose this cruise i went with a sick friend whom wanted a companion. I don't even enough strength to even go into how miserable everything was from the accommodations to the food to the service. Absolutely low low class. No air conditioning in room, no coffee pot, shower sprayed all over the floor, do i need to go on? I guess i do. The food was horrible. The same food everyday. Lots of mashed potatoes. If you love potatoes, you'll be in hog heaven. Do not expect gravy on them mashed potatoes though. Half the elevators were out of service. 30 minutes just to get ice. Had i been able to get a flight out of one of the islands, i would have gladly paid the extra money just to get the hell off this ship. Torture Read Less

This trip was unreal!!! First day the water in cabin sink was brown. Over a 2 day period the water went from brown to yellow to clear. After the water runs clear, the sewage odor lasted for the remainder of the cruise. We sailed through Hurricane Michael, on the eastern side of the storm. The seas were rough about 18 hours, other than this the cruise was smooth on the water. I conclude that Carnival has no standards or ethics as exampled by women walking Promenade deck in thong bikini, men going to lunch buffet with no shirts, and children running the aisles after 11PM playing and racing. Cruising with Carnival is not about relaxing. Constant marketing schemes in your face. For example I walk the inside Promendade deck, and Carnival personnel constantly in my face to take a photo. So I spent most of my time saying "no thanks". Now tell me how this is relaxing??? Another issue is if a cruiser does not do a ship excursion, you can forget about getting jetty service to the port. We waited over 2 hours to get to Grand Cayman, just because we did not do a Carnival excursion. Overall cleanliness and service was satisfactory. I know Carnival has passengers fall over deck. I understand because I saw multiple cruisers stumbling and falling in halls after 11PM. I need not say anymore. Carnival will never see me again!!! Read Less

We chose this cruise specifically for the waterpark, which was a huge let down. Not only was it much smaller than expected, with only one big slide that was super slow, it was closed for almost half of our trip. I felt the quality of the food was poor with limited choices, mainly fried, tons of oil, imitation cheese on eggs, SPOILED foods, extreme lack of healthy options. Our cabin was unclean, all of the lines, towels, sheets, bed spreads, as well as dirty fridge, and commode. I found some of the staff to be rude to customers as well as other staff, especially men towards woman, as noted in the Effy Store. Items were lost...the list goes on. I found budget entertainment some of the evenings, as well as silly day time and evening pool side events that were not always family appropriate. I found their sales pitches disguised as fun, free gift give away events that endured for 2-3 hours with Sam and Lauren extremely annoying and disrespectfully a huge waste of guest's vacation time. We have cruised in the past with Carnival and had a good experience, but this ship, this staff, I found added to just an overall negative cruise experience. Considering the above, as well as the exuberant amount of money spent, I will not sail again with Carnival, especially on the Paradise. The shore excursions booked through Expedia (and not Carnival) were amazing! Read Less

This ship is awful. Our 9th cruise, we know what to expect. Guest relations were terrible. The people on this ship just didn't want to help. From guest services, to house keeping (one day our room wasn't touched) to the cruise director (when is it funny to make fun of people who get hurt). The app we paid for didn't work on half my parties phones, so 4 of us could text each other, the other 4 couldn't. The a.c. didn't work while the ship was moving, I've never been so hot in my life and I'm from Florida! I was injured and needed medical services, wasn't able to move my left leg at all, crying in front of the Dr. Asked for her notes to give to my PCP, in there she lied and said "patient had full mobility and was in good spirits." I just don't trust carnival. The food was so bad my teenager, who eats ANYTHING didn't care for it. The pool is tiny and always full. The slides were closed on our trip, so no use of those. The Jacuzzi was cooler than bath water. The entertainment didn't start until 6. No live karaoke, only regular karaoke during dinner time. There was trivia and Hasbro games during the day, but everything else were high pressure sales during the day. Definitely NOT the best cruise. We're gold members but we're leaving carnival. The best part about the whole cruise was the magician. They're awful, and I hope you do too! don't waste your cruise like I did! Read Less

This was my wife and my 45th anniversary present to each other. We should have stayed home, went out to dinner, and saved 4 grand. If you are looking for a low budget frill cruise, an over crowded ship, school cafeteria food, and poor service then this cruise is for you. First the over crowded, dipping your toes in the pool or even finding a lounge chair, unless it’s raining, was impossible. In addition we arrived in Key West with three other cruise ships, and in Cozumel with 4 others. Shoulder to shoulder shopping, no seats to sit down to eat, and over-priced trinkets. The only things to do on the ship for the middle aged was to listen to music, no ‘60s or Country; drinking if you could get service; gamble if that’s your thing; and eating if you don’t mind what you put in your mouth. The dining room food tasted like school cafertia food. The only thing we found palatable in the food court was a hamburger and fries, for 5 days! Carnival also must go to great lengths to train their staff not to do anything special for their guests. My friend asked to taste a thimble full of the reminents of a mohito blender mix and was told that they would lose their job if caught giving anything away. Instead it was washed down the drain. Why aren’t soft drinks free, gotta be $$. Service was poor everywhere. Carnival seems to pride themselves on having over 50 nationalities on their staff. I wouldn’t care if I was served by a baboon if the food was good and service was friendly. This was my first and last Carnival cruise I have disembarked for the last time. Read Less

I have cruised 5 times with Carnival and this was the most disappointing experience I have had. The reason I chose this cruise is because I wanted to see the Cayman Islands and always had a good time on Carnival Cruse Lines, but this was a big disappointment this time. We only saw our Steward once at the beginning of the cruise and never saw him again. Although, the rooms were kept cleaned. The entertainment was good. The food in the dining room was not that great and the waiters were not that friendly. The best food was on the Lido deck. The casino was very small and the machines were too tight for winnings. The most enjoyable times were when I got off the ship at Cayman Islands and Cozumel. In the future, I am going to try a different cruise line other than Carnival and compare the two. Read Less

So many things wrong!!! When we got in our cabin it was not set up so we did it ourselves and found that the carpet was disgusting under the beds. The very next morning we woke up with flea bites - multiple times to Guest Services only got us a quick "Go to Medical". We bought the drink package and found that it was a waste of time as there were only a handful of bartenders on the deck at any given time. Most of the time it would take over 30 minutes of standing at the bar to get a drink. No one walking around! Our shore excursion was awful - billed as the "Great Race" all it had us do is walk around the worst parts of Cozumel - the snorkel part of it didn't bother to offer us a place to change into swimsuits so we didn't get to do anything. Incredible waste of money. Meals were mediocre at best - at one time only one elevator worked on our end of the ship. Painful as my mother is in a wheelchair and we had to use the elevators. One floor had construction so lots of noise. Not much to do - my grandchildren were totally bored as they are pre-teens and there isn't anything offered for them except sitting in a game room. This was absolutely the worst cruise I have ever been on. It was so bad I'm not sure I will ever take a cruise again. Read Less

Our group chose this cruise because our travel agent suggested it. From the Tampa port where there was mass confusion on the part of the attendants. Four of us with walkers had to wait 20 minutes while the elevator was being fixed. After 20 minutes, I flagged down an official looking person and told him of our plight. He looked over and said the elevator is working and asked who told us it wasn't. I pointed to the attendant who saw me pointing and then she took off. You only get one time to make a good impression and it was lost. We found our rooms but had to collapse the walkers to get in. Doors not wide enough and not ADA compliant. Announcements could not be heard in the cabins. If you heard the ding before an announcement, you had to go to the door and open it to hear what was being said. Speaking of that, the guy who had most of the announcements had such a strong Australian accent and talked so quickly that it was very hard to understand. I saw many people talking right through his announcements because they could not understand him anyway. Definitely the wrong person to give announcements. I do have to say that the food was good in the buffet and the attendants were wonderful. Top notch service. We found a small outdoor deck area aft of the buffet. Nice tables and chairs. Best part of the cruise. Peace and quite. The pool area music was so loud that I saw people yelling at each other to be heard. The dining room food was OK. Never saw the same wait staff again. Several people in our group told of shower backups and overflowing drains. Walking from mid to forward area on deck 4 there was a strong smell of sewage. Too many ships in port at the same time. Crowds were horrible. Long walks through vendor areas to get to something to see. To sum it up I was so glad to finally get back to Tampa and get off the Paradise. If I ever cruise again I will probably stay on the ship and enjoy the peace and quiet after everyone leaves. Read Less

This cruise is like Walmart compared to Macy's. Was not impressed. Not to mention the hours we tried getting a hold of a competent person due to us missing the cruise because of our a mechanical failure at the air port. Lack of entertainment, The 3 days (2 nights) we did get to enjoy the cruise there was hardly any entertainment. The entertainment done was done with hardly any enthusiasm and at one point we got to watch an actual fight due to lack of professionalism by the staff working the karaoke. Food is sub-par, no need to say more. This ship needs to be retired, It is in no way appeasing to the eye. I wont even get into their phone staff. Not helpful at all and very obviously reading from a hand book. Only plus, Their staff does a good job with the people on the ship. Their captain was great with getting us through customs. Unfortunately, I Have no desire to cruise carnival again. This was my first time with Carnival, not my first time cruising however. Norwegian set the bar to high I suppose. Read Less

Upon choosing Carnival Paradise - 5 Night Western Caribbean Our cruise itinerary was almost immediately changed on the first day and our primary desired destination was removed from our trip which was the Cayman Islands. The problem was declared as "unexpected" mechanical problems, yet upon research this was an identical "unexpected" problem causing the same destination changes a few months earlier. Both of these scenarios occurred on the same Carnival Paradise ship. Almost every couple we spoke with on the trip was highly unsatisfied with their cruise. Passengers were only refunded a mere $25 cruise cash for the missed destination. We also had a confrontation with the 2 guest services representatives due to a simple misunderstanding. This was a scenario where the customer wasn't "always right" or kindly spoken to at all. You expect to go somewhere and have a great time when you pay for a trip and this was not the case with Carnival. Finally, the food and entertainment quality and availability where "ok" at best in comparison to any of the other cruises we have experienced. I would like others to be aware of this before planning a trip with this cruise line. Myself and my wife agreed that we will never be traveling with Carnival cruise lines ever again. Read Less

We chose this cruise specifically for my husband's 50th birthday. He always wanted to go to the Cayman islands and wanted to go to Mexico as well. We researched for hours. This cruise went to the Cayman Islands and Cozumel Mexico so we booked it for that reason. Cayman Island being the main reason. We booked the most amazing excursions, we were so excited. We departed on Monday and then Tuesday afternoon the Captain announced due to a mechanical failure of the engine, not being able to go fast enough, we would not be going to the Cayman Island.Instead we would be going to Costa maya Mexico. He then announced we would each be getting a 25 dollar credit. We were so disappointed and wondered why it took the Captain 24 hours to realize his engine was not going as fast as it should. Weather you can understand. This was suspicious. So we booked an excursion for Costa Maya and we arrived the next day. There were shops and we found a pool, not much to do so we were happy we booked an excursion. When it was time to go on the excursion, ours and a lot of other passenger's were cancelled. We said we will go to the beach and they said the beach was sold out.Other offers were made to us we could go to a waterpark the 4 of us, myself my husband and our kids for 400 dollars!.Talking to other passengers they said that this ship has been diverting from the Caymans since March. They did the same thing to a passengers brother, gave the same reason. Engine would not go fast enough. Costa Maya could not handle such an influx of people on such short notice. Cozumel was beautiful. I wish we would have gone there for 2 days. Everyone on the ship noticed after the announcement of how the ship would not go fast enough , not long after that ship didn't seem to have any problem with speed. it was rocking significantly. On Day 5 just a boat day we donated 100 to st jude for cancer and I did a little dance with everyone with my sandals off to the side of the stage, jumped in the pool to cool off came back for my sandals within 5 minutes and they were gone. Broad daylight 1pm . I reported it to the crew that was on stage and they looked and asked for my room number if they found them they would bring them to my room. I had to purchase a pair of sandals from the cruise shop and asked if i could get a discount if my shoes were stolen and I was told I was lucky a passenger on the last day had everything he had stolen. the crew member told me sometimes people just come on cruises just to steal. I went to the lost and found later to see if my shoes turned up, they never did. i was told if i wanted to complain to call the 1800 carnival number. I did. After waiting 30 minutes to speak to someone. I was told i should have read the Terms and Conditions I signed. The Captain at anytime can change the itinerary at any time due to weather or mechanical failures. I replied, The Paradise has not been going to the caymans since March! She replied not every time since March. She said we were given the 25 dollar credit and that was the only refunds that would be given. I told her how costa maya could not handle that many people on such short notice and how all the excursions were cancelled. She didn't care. I told her about my shoes going missing and she said that Carnival was not responsible for the passengers personal items. I asked what are all the cameras for? What is your security for? I told her about what the crew member told me about that passenger that had all his belongings stolen. She said that was not true because she would have known about it, those complaints go through her. She was abrasive and rude. She asked if she was helpful and i told her absolutely not. I and my family feel so taken for granted. This was our first cruise and will probably unfortunately be our last. I would hate to see this happen to anyone else. They entice(bait) you with the promised destinations and switch to suit their financial gain. The Carnival corporation gets your money and do whatever they feel and then tell you there is nothing you can do about it. Shame on you Carnival! Read Less

Being my first cruise, I was not familiar with what things to look for; lets start there. I had a specific time frame in which I could travel and I live in the Tampa Bay area, so I decided to go with Carnival Paradise. I quickly learned after speaking with people that is was an older ship but I had read reviews and despite this, the mostly positive reviews gave me hope. I was very disappointed to say the least. My family of four only goes on one vacation a year, and I am saddened that this was my choice. The boat was to be desired. The pools were so old and small (and the five day cruise, there was one pool closed for maintenance or the slide wasn't open for some reason throughout the days). The one day that they were all open, my family was up on the top deck and OIL from the top engine area sprayed out and showered all the guests, forcing them, to once again, close the entire top deck. This was disgusting....along with the water that came out of our room faucet on one day that was the color of dark urine. The water provided at the drink stations on the Lido deck often had a brown color to it as well. There were several buckets with caution tape around the ship from leaking areas as well as the bench that was around the pool breaking the last day and again, having caution tape around it. I could go on and on. The boat is dated and known to be dry docked in February of 2018 I believe, but it really should be dry docked now, as it was a complete and utter disappointed and I am beyond disgusted that this was my annual vacation of choice. I wish I could upload photos that I have of the water in our room and other disturbing photos but they are on my phone and I do not have that linked to this computer Read Less

Tacky ship filled with tacky people. We usually don't stay at hotels where these characters stay. I do not think I could have designed uglier decor if I had set out to design the ugliest interior possible. Some areas were attractive, but the over-all Neo-Egyptian theme was more than a little off-putting. The food was the best part. Restaurant table service ranged from excellent to inattentive. The music was perhaps appropriate for teenie-boppers, except that it was excessively loud. It was hard to find a place to carry out a conversation without shouting. Elevator service was intermittent, and there was a noted lack of directional information, making it hard to find our way about the ship. Information for passengers was confusing at times. We were given two different places to assemble to disembark, and then were sent to the gangplank in a different order than first announced. We won't be back. Read Less

I can’t tell you how disappointed we are that Carnival changed the port of call from Grand Cayman to Costa Maya! The trip cost us over $4,500 and to change to a port we did not want to go to is disappointing and unacceptable. We were locked into the sail date and had no choice to change the date or ship. We would have had to postpone the trip for another year and would have lost money as well. Costa Maya is not comparable to Grand Cayman and the $25 pp credit was insulting and unacceptable. If the change of port wasn’t bad enough, repairs to the ship were being made the whole time we were on board. • While eating lunch on the back rear deck, we watched workmen replacing light fixtures while standing on the table top. • Several Atrium walkways were closed off due to sanding and staining of handrails. • A workman left a used paint brush on our desk in the room. • One of the elevators in the Atrium did not work the whole cruise. • The water was shut off for two hours to make repairs while in port. Part of a response letter from Carnival Thanks for letting us know your thoughts concerning your cruise experience. We’re truly sorry for the change of itinerary and for not meeting your expectations. Yes, we extended a $25 per person onboard credit and empathize it was insulting and unacceptable; however, Carnival is not offering further compensation. In regards to maintenance and repairs being done, we apologize for any inconvenience. Please know your feedback is very much appreciated and will be shared with the relevant departments. We assure you, your comments will be used to improve our service. Once again, we apologize for any disappointment this may have caused you. Please don’t let what happened this time around tarnish your entire opinion of us. We’d love to welcome you back soon! I have no words..... Read Less

i would advise against purchasing the soda package as u will not be given anything but canned warm soda. There are no soda fountains on the ship and they do not cool the cans in advance . It was awful to say the least. All the ships we have been on recently give you a tumbler with the package. I had to pay extra here for one and had i known this i could have brought one from home! The food in the diding room was not empressive either. All and all this ship need to be dry docked and refurbished . If you are a senior there is little to do on board, but drink, gamble and people watch. Never ever again and we are platinum cruisers with them .we only came on because of some friends were going and that was about the only thing good i can say about this cruise. My electric plug in the cabin even shorted out so i had no power for my pc or phone for a day! Read Less

We chose this cruise to get away for a long weekend. What a mistake. Food was bland and we found hair in our food TWICE! Yes, we reported it. Drunk people running up and down the hallways at 2am every night. This is what happens when you have the Cheers program, I guess. We had to call security twice, as our neighboring cabin decided to throw a party and had a boombox. Our walls were vibrating. Someone was smoking pot and it wafted through to our room every night. At least it masked the sewage smell! The sewage smell came from our toilet. We tried flushing it multiple times, filling the bowl with water and keeping the toilet lid shut. Nothing seemed to help. I was hoping that keeping the toilet bowl full of water would keep the sewer gas smell at at bay. No such luck. Staff was nice. Ship is in dire need of rehab. Worn out carpet, walls are beat up, everything looks very used. Kind of like living in your first apartment with hand me down furniture. There are no real amenities on this ship. No steak house, no red frog pub, no blue iguana. nothing.... Read Less

I have been on the Paradise twice before and several other Carnival cruises as well as other lines. Never have I experienced so many problems. The wait times for anytime were worse than a chain restaurant on a Friday night and the meals other than 2 were some of the worst food ever on a cruise line. The sad part is the last time were on the Paradise was a completely opposite experience. The guest services always had a line when we walked by which is never a good sign. Before leaving we were already in the process of booking another two cruises including one definitely on Carnival. I will probably be retiring my Gold card at this point even though a few more trips would have got us to platinum. The public bathrooms were constantly a mess. It was very hard getting a drink at the bar with very long waits. The Aft pool literally had plaster lining falling off and yellow underlining completely exposed. It is like Carnival just gave up on this ship and it's customers. Very poor experience overall. Read Less

This was my first cruise and probably my last. The number one problem with this cruise is the struggle to get a bottle of water! When you are in warm weather and enjoying adult cocktails water is important. It was a complete hassle to get bottles of water on this ship! 2nd the boat rocked consistently- they say due to a motor being out, also the reason we went to Costa Maya instead of Grand Cayman. This ship is out date and should defiantly be retired. The Costa Maya stop was very trashy garbage littered the streets and the resort they suggested was just as bad! Service was OK sometimes, and the food was blah. The only part i really enjoyed on this cruise was the comedy club and the live music playing. The 16 yr old we traveled enjoyed the kids club. If your a first time cruiser this will ruin your sailing future!!! Read Less

This was a girls trip for Spring Break, a much anticipated week of relaxation away from work and our husbands. Unfortunately, Carnival did not deliver. *Carnival HUB Chat didn't work most of the week *Several areas of the ship smelled like sewer consistently *Never once saw the Taste Bar open *Bars were not consistent with drinks; you could order the same drink and get it in a different size glass depending on which bar you went to. (we had purchased CHEERS) *Repairs were being done while we were in Port; loud machines all over the ship no matter which deck we layed out on; one of the hot tubs covered in Serenity so only one available. Nothing Serene about Serenity while in Cozumel or Costa Maya, I can assure you. *While in Cozumel, the main pool was drained and repaired and painted so it was closed all day and night! We were looking forward to using the slide that day while most of the kids were off the boat, unfortunately, it wasn't open. *hot tubs were not hot in Serenity *5 minutes in between drinks (CHEERS); I understand in between alcoholic beverages, but what I don't understand is why you can't get an alcoholic beverage and a water at the same time? *Why only large bottles of water in the dining room? (CHEERS) *Pool bar on the side where the towels are was closed most of the week. When it was open, very poor service. The pool bar on the other side was excellent. *Attire in the dining room was appaling. What is the point of having a dress code if it isn't enforced? We made a point to dress appropriately only to show up and see guests in gym shorts, tshirts, ball caps, tank tops, and sweatpants. Unacceptable. *Spa-2 announcements made while trying to enjoy a massage. When we inquired about it, we were told announcements aren't supposed to be made in the Spa. Well, how am I supposed to relax and enjoy my massage when I keep getting interrupted? *Talking with other guests, we discovered different credits were issued for the changed itinerary? Everyone was not issued the same amount? *We bought Faster to Fun, when we boarded we went right to the bar. We were told we couldn't get a drink because the system was down. After checking into our room, which was ready, we decided to check with Guest Services. They were able to see we purchased CHEERS and put the sticker on our card so we could get our drinks. We were told the bar should have just served us and they could have adjusted our bill later. *Food was below par, with the exception of the Chocolate Melting Cake. *Julius and Imade our waiters were wonderful! This wasn't my first cruise with Carnival and I've cruised with Royal Caribbean before as well. I can tell you there won't be another Carnival cruise in my future unless it's free. I was extremely disappointed in a vacation I had looked forward to for so long. How on earth are you able to relax when crew members are sanding, drilling, etc.? It is absolutely unacceptable. Shame on you Carnival, I work too hard for my money and my vacations are dear to me. Read Less
