Never again...I booked this trip because my sister was coming with me and she was a newbie, she was not sure whether she was going to get sea sick so we did a short term cruise just in case. Right from the get go they canceled Cayman island with some stupid excuse that even them do not believe and add it costa Maya port instead. The food on the ship was NASTY, NASTY, NASTY chicken nuggets for the love of god, why would I want to eat that crap, for that I will go to McDonalds. The station inside had the same horrible food every single day, the Chinese food they served outside we could not get to it cause the line was so big we never had a chance. The ship looked old and dirty all the time, toilets did not flush. The Pool, OMG we could not get to it, that is how many people were there and even if we did it was disgusting. Costa Maya never happened according to them it was too windy to dock and they never add it another port after they simply said sorry and that was it. I will never EVER EVER AGAIN book another carnival cruise in my life. It was DISGUSTING. Read Less

Chose this cruise for my wife as she has always wanted to see Grand Cayman. Boarding was good but that was the only thing good about it. This ship had one engine down so the ship could not cut thru the waves this made walking very rough. First 3 days it was hard just to keep your food on the table, that is if you could get service to order. First stop was supposed to be Grand Caymens but due to technical issues we would visit costa maya instead. We did not visit either of these ports as the ship did not have enough power to get into port. on the 3rd day we blew another engine so we just kind of floated around, air conditioning on and off food was bad, cold, no flavor. 4th night sewage back up all floors smelled, no water for several hours rusty water for a few more. The compensation was a $25 on board credit to spend on the ship. I felt this ship was not safe to begin with had we known about the first engine being down we would not have taken this cruise but with two engines gone it was down right scary. This was our 3rd carnival cruise each time the cruise seems to get worse, this is my last cruise with Carnival. I would not recommend Carnival to anyone it is a waste of hard earned money. When we got back to land my wife called corp. and was told there was nothing they could do. Carnival is in the customer service industry but they lack the customer service what a shame. Save your money and fly or take a different cruise line. Mind you I purchased two tickets for friends they say they wont ever cruise again. Read Less

Paradise needs to dry dock this boat immediately. Terrible experience. $25.00 for changing a port is a kick in the teeth. $12.90 for missing the port because of weather was pathetic. 2 engines were down is the cause of not being able to go to Grand Cayman. Having 2 engines down was horrible. They should have just put us all in row boats if we wanted to feel all the waves. It was hard to walk and heels were out of the question unless you wanted to break an ankle. The day we were supposed to dock in Costa Maya we couldn't because the port was closed because of the winds. I get that. But that morning we woke up to no water ship wide! Then when we walked out to go to breakfast and the sewer smell was so over powering to the point you would throw up. Sewer line broke! No compensation for that other than opening all the doors and piping in air freshener to try to cover the smell. Did not work. Brand new luggage was damaged worn through on one side from them dragging or it rubbing on something before it got to the room. Faster to the fun is a joke. Your luggage is supposed to be in your room when you get on. Nope. Lucky if you get it by dinner. When you get off the boat at the end of your cruise you think that this is the first time that they have ever did this. No coordination. If you have a cruise booked on this ship change it to another ship or cancel it. Read Less

I went on a Bahamas cruise 2 years ago and had a great time. This time my wife wanted to go to Grand Cayman so she chose this cruise out of Tampa which required us to drive 10 hours from South Carolina. Less than 18 hours before we started our drive, we received an email telling us that due to mechanical issues we would be going to Costa Maya instead of Grand Cayman. So much for our planning and research over the cruise we wanted. We decided to make the best of it since we had not paid for cruise protection. Should have known it would not get better when we were a couple hours late just leaving the dock. I was so disappointed to find out it was spring break and there were never any lounge chairs, pools or whirlpools available. Cozumel was fun but then Costa Maya. Not quite sure why we couldn't disembark there as the crew gave us conflicting information on the subject. The onboard replacement plan was terrible. Not sure why they couldn't add in a few more comedy shows or show Doctor Strange again since the lounge sat empty. On the fourth day, the sewage smell trying to be covered up with deodorizing chemicals throughout the Atrium was enough to turn anyone's stomach, Plus the lack of water for about 5 hours (no coffee) was not good with the other stuff going on. This was also the same day that they had areas blocked off "due to high winds", but it was the nicest of the days. Four days at sea and coming home with snorkeling equipment and a bathing suit which never got used and was terrible. This was a cruise planned out for our 25th wedding anniversary. We could have done alot of things, but we made this bad choice. Carnival seemed so proud that they gave us the $25 ship board credit for screwing up our celebration. They like to say that it was beyond there control, but the mechanical issues with the ship which kept us from following our initial itinerary was under there control, so I do not accept their answer. I also can't guarantee that the engine issues were not also the cause behind our rough ride. On a plus side, the staff was fantastic but they were quick to tell us that Carnival wouldn't do anything for us. Read Less

I chose this cruise specifically for the Grand Cayman port. 5 days, departing out of tampa, two ports. Sounds great! Two days before departure, I received an email that the Grand Cayman port had been cancelled due to technical issues with the ship's speed capability. The port was replaced with Costa Maya. Even though I was disappointed, I have been to the Costa Maya port with a prior Carnival cruise and enjoyed it. However, we never got to go to Costa Maya. The swells were deemed too large for us to debark at Costa Maya. Rather than going back to the Cozumel port (30 min away allegedly) or another port, it was decided that another "fun day at sea" would be added to the itinerary instead. Carnival gave us $13 back for the "Port fees" that were not spent since we never docked at a second port. I brought a friend who had never been on a cruise before and this was a nightmare of an experience. I was so embarrassed that I had given her such high expectations of a cruise experience. There were so many people on the cruise who were seasick. I too, have been on multiple cruise ships and multiple cruise lines and have never experienced the bouts of motion sickness that occurred on this trip. Our drink glasses were sliding across the table at dinner! While I understand that Carnival cannot be responsible for mother nature, one can only wonder if the ship's speed had anything to do with feeling the excessive motion due to a slower speed. As though things could not get worse, on the fourth day, brown water was coming out of people's water in their cabin. Parts of the cruise ship reeked of fecal matter and sewage! The shower and the sink had brown water! This resulted in the water lines being cut off for a couple of hours! That evening, I showered, and I now have green hair! They must have "shocked" the water with chlorine because I had not smelled the chlorine or had green tinted hair for any of the prior four days and then all of a sudden the ends of my hair were green! While the cabin was bigger in comparison to other cruise ships I have been on, keep in mind there is ONE outlet for charging/plugging in hair tools, etc. The entertainment was sub par, all based on 70, and 80s rock and roll. One of the shows the cast members didn't even dance they just sat on stools. They said it was because the ship was rocking too much! The dining experience was ok. Food was ok each night. But, don't order the creme brûlée! It was not edible! Hard as a rock in the middle! Wrong consistency. Just not good. The only good thing about the cruise was getting off the ship in Cozumel and renting a Jeep for the day. We went to a couple of different beaches and shops and restaurants and had a great time that day, but spending $500 per person on a cruise just to go to Cozumel and turn around and go back! NOT WORTH IT. I expressed my displeasure with Carnival corporate office and the representative told me that no compensation would be offered. I think it is despicable and will not use Carnival Cruise Line again in the future. Read Less

Carnival Paradise. WORST CRUISE EXPERIENCE EVER. Don't ever take a carnival cruise, ESPECIALLY on the carnival paradise. I just returned from what was supposed to be a 5 day western Caribbean cruise to Cozumel and Grand Cayman. For starters, the day before our cruise, we were informed that there was a problem with the engines that affected the maximum cruising speed, and we were no longer going to grand cayman. We were only given a 25$ onboard credit for this. Instead, we were to go to Costa Maya and were given more time in Cozumel. Trying to be a good sport, I stayed positive and was sure we would have just as much fun. Well, oh boy was I wrong!! This cruise was a nightmare!! Due to this broken engine, the boat was no longer able to break the waves, creating extreme rocking on the boat. My friends and I were all severely sea sick, and spent most of the first two days at sea sick. (Rocky to the point that food actually flew off the table at dinner one night) anyways, still trying to keep good spirits we booked an excursion for costa maya. The morning we arrived to costa maya, the captain came on board and announced we couldn't get into the port at costa maya due to weather! The best part was that the waves were calm and it was bright and sunny that day, not to mention the other ships sitting in the port that morning. Basically, we were told by an engineer that without the sixth engine, we didn't have enough strength to push into the port through the high tide. Carnival has refused to give us any money back, despite that we spent four of our five days miserable at sea! They even made people pay for the sea sickness medication, which is usually free! In addition to this, we were also told by an engineer and other passengers that carnival has known about this faulty engine for months, but doesn't inform passengers until it's too late to cancel for a refund. We have proof of other trips from December and January that also couldn't make it to grand cayman due to "weather". I will add that carnivals policy is that they have to refund passengers when the issue is under their control i.e mechanical (faulty engines), but will not refund when the circumstances are out of their control i.e. Weather. The next miserable part of this cruise was the food. The food was nasty, inedible.. so fake. It made me and my boyfriend sick! The only edible things were pizza and fries, which isn't something you want to be eating for every meal. Meat was questionable and cooked poorly, vegetable were plain, desserts were gross.. my boyfriend ordered a "prime rib" one night and it looked like a big ball of fat and soy you would get in a public school lunch. Finally, another terrible part of this trip was the smell and the condition of the ship. The hallways reeked of sewage and poop all day and night. It was so disgusting! The smell would leak from the sink and the toilet, I was concerned for the cleanliness of the water. In addition to this, I found every aspect of this ship to be dated and dirty. Cups and plates weren't properly cleaned, and neither were the elevators and floors. I will say that the service and workers in this ship were the friendliest and nicest people I have ever met. They were helpful and knowledgeable and went out of their way to help you. I was really upset to find that the only compensation people were receiving was the 64$ per person gratuity fee. Carnival corporate would rather punish their hard working employees that refund all the passengers that deserve half of their money back for this awful experience. I have never been so infuriated and upset after a trip, and I will make sure that everyone knows to never book a cruise with carnival or the carnival paradise!!!! Read Less

I chose this cruise because my friends were taking this cruise, and it was reasonably priced. We were initially supposed to land in Cozumel and Grand Cayman for a day each, and most of us specifically chose this cruise because we wanted to go to the Grand Cayman. We were also supposed to be meet up with other friends when we landed in the Grand Caymans. Instead, Carnival cancelled the stop at Grand Cayman and substituted it for Costa Maya two days before the ship was supposed to leave so we wouldn't have the time to plan any other trip for our break. The ship was pretty choppy for a lot of the days at sea, and a lot of people were having sea sickness issues, especially on the second to last day (I know there isn't much they can do about this except for have a bigger ship). Aside from that, the trip went as planned up to Cozumel, and after that they cancelled the stop at Costa Maya. This resulted in 4 days at sea for a 5 day cruise, which got pretty old, seeing as how there is only so much that you can do on a cruise ship. Carnival also tacks on numerous additional mandatory gratuity fees, including $65 for room service, so the lower price tag that you see on the site is not indicative of the actual cost. On the last day at sea, there was also an issue with the ship that caused a strong sewage smell throughout the ship (bringing back memories from the cesspool on a hot summer day in Kandahar). For all of this, Carnival only grudgingly refunded $25 for the Grand Cayman change and the pretty much negligible port taxes for the cancelled stop in Costa Maya. I would've much rather just headed back a day early and received a partial refund. In hindsight, I definitely wouldn't have wasted in the money on this trip or paid money to a company with terrible customer service, like Carnival. I would not recommend this ship or cruise line to anyone. Read Less

The Carnival Paradise boat absolutely sucks for any ages. The boat is old and needs drastic updating. The rooms are nasty and the beds are uncomfortable. For my experience in particular this week on this cruise ship much has happened for me to say "hell no" to carnival if I would ever be asked to go again. Firstly, a day before we drive 9 hours to Tampa to board the ship we become informed by the cruise line that the boat has engine problems which decreases the maximum speed for the ship. For that reason, the cruise line sent an email stating that we would not be going to the destination we booked months for. However, they did say that we would get $25 each back and would go to Coasta Maya instead. It turns out that we did get the $25 but did not port at Coasta Maya at all. This means that out of the 5 days we sailed, we were only allowed off the boat for 12 hours in Cozumel. EVERYONE on the boat was sea sick due to the slow average speed we were progressing because of the engines that were broken. On top of everything else, a water pipe busted, which left the ship with an awful smell and brown water for hours. Hours after the captain had announced the water was fine, I decided to brush my teeth.. well the water was still solid brown. The food on this boat was absolutely disgusting. The dishes were not properly washed. Out of the dozens of people who went to complain every day to guest services, no money was ever given back. So this review wanted to know if I would ever go back... well I'm pretty sure everyone who sailed this week has the same answer as me & its HELL NO. Next time I will go on a Royal Caribbean cruise. I had been to both Cozumel and Grand Cayman before and wanted to take my mother and daughter along to see the Mayan ruins. I was looking forward to spending time on the beach in Cozumel but the port stops were cut so short we were rushed through our excursions. I did enjoy the stops but there was barely time to experience anything before we had to be hurried to stand in a very long line to get back on the tender boats in Grand Cayman. I would have loved to shop at all of the jewelry stores we saw there but we were threatened with being left if we went anywhere outside of our excursions. While on the ship there was not much to do during the day and the pools were so crowded we took lots of naps. I will not ever go on this ship again if I go with Carnival at all. The service on the Carnival Paradise was horrible! We cruised from 8/15-8/20/16 I paid extra for the Faster to the Fun but was never able to take advantage of it except boarding which really wasn't any earlier than other people who just arrived early. I was so furious at Guest Services condescending attitude that I resorted to posting on Facebook to Carnivals page to get a response. I posted earlier in the week on Facebook about the Fun Finds books and the only resolution I was offered on the ship (after posting on Facebook) was a bag with some cheap trinkets. None of that made it worth the $50 I spent on those books. The books were sold to us with the understanding that we could shop in port and save using them. We didn't even get time in port to shop and they knew this but refused to take the books back! Not to mention the rude staff at Guest Service when I asked to return them because our stops were shortened and we barely had time for our excursions. We have made Carnival cruises an annual thing for the past 4 years. Every cruise before this was great. This ship was awful and smelled like poop- literal poop. The A/C did not work in one of our rooms and had to be fixed but we had to spend a night without it after calling for service. The next morning we had to call again because they never returned to fix it. The shower in that same room stopped working and had to be repaired by a plumber. All of this was on top of the fact that there was an engine fire and everyone was woken up in the middle of the night and the port stops had to be cut short. But somehow we still made it back or Tampa for the next departure to happen on time. I guess since we've paid our satisfaction no longer mattered. We paid $426 for excursions in Cozumel through Carnival and the excursion was supposed to take 8 hours- we weren't even in port 5! We were rushed through and parts of it were canceled but do you think Carnival offered to do anything about shorting the guests? NOPE. I even called Carnival after I arrived home and was simply told thank you for your feedback. Read Less

This was our first trip and if we didn't have friends with us that had gone on numerous cruises that advised us this was their worst trip and the others were much better. We probably wouldn't ever cruise again. Pros: The staff for the most part were very friendly. We enjoyed dining in the dining room and choices. Enjoyed the shows. Cons: The shower overflowed into the bathroom and the hallway of the cabin. Got bites around my ankles at night in bed as did my daughter (hopefully not bed bugs). The top comforter Very out dated ship with many flaws. I had heard about the fact we could eat at any time of day or night. This was not the case. Most buffets shut down early and had the same old food (hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken tenders.) There was a small pizza place open that had one person working it and he couldnt keep up. Had to wait 20 to 30 mins for 2 pcs of pizza. It was a $20.00 sur charge for lobster and some other higher end steaks.(my friends said this was a first for them that usually its included. Bars didn't have enough bar tenders therefore it took a while to get a drink. Had conflicting stories from the ship personell about what could and could not be placed on my drink pass. Lastly, we were supposed to be going to Cayman and Cozumel but due to a medical emergency we had to return to the Cayman island. Therefore we spent two days there which is too much . The prices are awful on the island. While we understood why we didnt go to Cozumel we felt taht we were owed something but all we rec'd was 9.95 back. One drink in Cayman is that much . Will NEVER cruise on the paradise ever again. May never cruise Carnival again Read Less

My friends and I chose this cruise as a girls getaway, thinking it was decently priced. However, we were very disappointed. One friend was not able to make it due to a family medical emergency, and Carnival would not allow any person to take her place. Embarkation was very easy, but once we entered the boat we were unimpressed. The ship is very outdated. Once we got one we went to go get our buffet lunch and it was not good in any way. We had dry chicken nuggets, but the other choices were burgers, hot dogs and french fries, the french fries and cheese dip we also tasted and they were nothing special. The food the rest of the trip was not good, and we could not wait to get off to have some decent food. The only good part was the free, unlimited ice cream. As for the pools, there was only one main pool with one slide and it was above ground and about as big as my neighbors underground pool. There was a tiny hot beside it that could hold about 4 people. On another deck there is one more pool, but it is even smaller and is crowded with more that 15 people in it, and it is also above ground. Beside it is one more hot tub that holds about 5 people. There only 2 more hot tubs and they are located on the Serenity deck, the 21 and over section. We were on the lowest floor and our room was tiny and super outdated, along with the bathroom. There was also only one outlet in the entire room, which became a pain, not only for phone charging but also getting ready with hair straighteners and blow dryers. The only positives on this cruise were the ice cream and the staff was very friendly, hence the one star. I would never recommend this ship to anyone. As for embarking, disembarking, ports, and shore excursions I have no complaints. Overall, the ship was very outdated, the food was disgusting and the pool was not nice and it was tiny. Read Less

First time in all cruises I've been on with Carnival that I felt like I wished I never went and wanted to just get home!! We choose this cruise because the port of Tampa is a 1 1/2 hours drive from home. We have cruised several times. This was the worse. Room was tattered and ragged. No ice bucket, room service menu, no blow dryer no mini fridge. Room stewart did the best he could with what he had to work with. Food was either almost raw, over cooked or too spicy. Only had one decent evening meal the whole trip. Hamburger bar at lunch was fairly good, but had to ask them to put it back on the grill. Blood was running out. Had to call security to the next room. Loud partying, slamming of doors all night, every night. Could not sleep. Entertainment was at high school level at best and the comedian told jokes the my grandmother use to tell. It sucked. The Serenity area was taken over after a rain storm with a musician and his electric guitar for a private party which left me with no quite place to go but back to my room. The was a party cruise from the get go. Do not, I repeat, do not take this cruise unless you want to deal with the drunk rowdy young people. I made a complaint to Carnival and all I got was an I'm sorry. No suggestion of looking into the matter so I guess the is the way they like to run this ship. We will never cruise with them again. On Saturday, January 30th 2016 my wife and I and our three children, ages three, seven, and eleven drove to Tampa Florida to board the Carnival Cruise ship Paradise and set sail the next day on February 1st 2016. On Monday February 1st 2016 we boarded the Carnival Paradise, and our nightmare began. We went to our stateroom on Deck 5 and placed our luggage with plans to visit Deck 10 so that we could see the dining areas and eat lunch at the buffets, which were supposed to be available. When we arrived at deck 10, many of the buffet food lines were closed, and we immediately noticed that the food that was available was not decent to eat, much of which was not suitable for children. One particular buffet line we visited three separate times over the course of three days at 5pm, 11pm, noon, and it was only open on the last day of the cruise, even though staff assured us it was supposed to be open every day. The carpet in our stateroom was sticky and dirty, and there was evidence of residue that had dripped down the walls and had not been properly cleaned. My wife had to put clean towels down so that the children could walk barefooted on the floor without sticking to the carpet. In all honesty, the condition of the room would easily compare to a Motel 6 or other low quality motel. During the course of this trip, our children experienced spoiled milk, and frozen milk that was undrinkable, and overall, an irregular food availability. The Cruise line offered lemonade onboard, but it was so sweet that it was undrinkable, and it had the consistency of syrup. The tea was bitter, and at no time was plain water available. When we ate at the Elation Dining Room, we inadvertently found out that we were scheduled to eat at a certain time without the availability of any exceptions. In this dining room, we experienced hard pancakes that were difficult to cut with a fork, very tough French toast that was unpalatable, and in general, food that was very bland, old and not fresh, or all of the above. On the second night of the cruise we were never informed that there was to be a formal dining dress code on that evening, and we were turned away because I was wearing khaki shorts with a collared business casual dress shirt. My wife was wearing a tie-dye shirt and sweat pants, and we were told because she was a female that her attire was acceptable, yet mine was not. We were then denied access to the dining room, having to look for food elsewhere aboard the ship, and again had to deal with the issue of other food areas unavailable or shut down. The schedule for this dining room was never explained to us, shown to us, or clarified when we asked questions regarding its availability. On the third night we ordered a steak at the dining room, and it was so tough it was unable to have been eaten. All of the food on this ship tasted as if it were from a package, and not fresh, let alone made to order as promised when we made our reservation. We addressed many of the issues with the on board staff, including the Maître’ D, which in turn sent the Chef to our table, who then gaffed off our concerns. Carnival Cruise Lines advertises that they have “Guy’s Burger Joint”, a “Seafood Shack”, and a Blue Iguana Cantina, all of which NONE of these were available on our ship. Only two other restaurants were available with limited dining times, and each had a bar or casino, in which children were not allowed access to these areas. On the fourth night, my wife ordered stir-fry vegetables that were not only tasted really bad, but were spoiled and inedible. French fries for our children were soggy, cold, and bland. The ice cream was water based, and inedible. On the third night, the potatoes served to me were grey in color (evidenced that they had been in the kitchen for several days and not stored properly prior to being prepared), and when I addressed this with the kitchen staff, it was shrugged off as “no big deal”. On this same night, my son (who is 11 years old) ate his evening meal, which made him incredibly sick, resulting in him puking from 2am to 6am that night (food poisoning). Carnival Cruise Lines assured us that their room service was all-inclusive, and offered exceptional service with wonderful food, all available at any time of the day. Room service only offered cold lunchmeat sandwiches and chocolate cake. Lunchmeat was slick and should not have been served. Fruit was never available as part of the services from room service, and juice was never available after the a.m. period. No vegetables or fruit on this ship were fresh, as all immediately appeared under-ripe or expired. Carnival promised us when we made our reservation that there would be plenty of activities for children; however, when we got onboard the cruise, activities for or involving children was minimal and almost non-existent. The ship had an area called “Camp Carnival” which the reservation representative assured would have arts & crafts, and fun daily activities for children of all ages. When we tried on four separate occasions to use this service and put our children in this area so that they could participate in these activities, the only activity offered each time to them was either video games or TV. When I took my three children swimming in the open deck pool, there was significant amounts of disgusting, soft, soggy, plastic debris that came in contact with our bodies. As we were unsure what these plastic items were submerged in the water, we quickly got out of the pool. Read Less

I recently got off the Carnival Paradise and everything was not up to expectations or what you'll think it is. On every deck there was at least two broken elevators. On lido deck (10 top) there was a sink with a out of service sign and it worked properly. Our cabin E36 toliet didn't want to flush at times. You had to wait and press and then wait and press until it worked. When we first got there the pullout beds were both dirty. My luggage was all scratched when I got it back and my mom's had a hole that it never had before. The lights in our cabin flickered on and off. Everything is out of date and when we ask for a wake up call on the last day 08/27/15. They told us is in the computer and we never got the call. On deck 8 they try to get you to get off the boat and buy jewelry if you go to the Sophie Shopping Expert Show. She'll make you get your free stuff so you can buy a Tansanite bracelet for $5000 and tell you how cheap it is. The Michael Kors watches on the boat had a sign for 10% off on one the displays and the store manager doesn't give them to you. He'll blame it on someone else and got mad at us. They put old shows in the Normande Theater, and play the same one every night. We bought rum and the bottles when we open the box were on top of each other like they were thrown in the box. In the study/game room there games were all broken and old. As for the Elation we had the best service. Serviced by Win, Christopher, and Asep. They knew what we wanted and were very attentive to us. Kind and charming waiters. But what didn't make dinner complete was the forks always had old food on them as the dishwasher was not washing them right. But other than that my waiters were the best. On deck 9 there was the arcade that cost a $1.25 or more to play one game. And the arcade was the smallest I have ever seen. The clud O2 for 15-17 was mostly boring. They had no games to give importance to like the circle club. Other than Andre a nice guy who you can spend time with and he'll teach you how to dance too. In the casino, all you smell is tobacco. But before I got on I was told it was a smoke free cruise. Which clearly was a lie because it smelled mostly like tobacco. Even ones you get in the back entrance from lido deck 10. And then the photographer wants to make you take a picture but you say no thank you and they continue. The only show that was Interesting and funny was Alex Ortiz The Punchliner Comdiean. Who is very humble and is a recommend show. On Lido deck 10, they had 2 pools which were to tiny they all were full of people. Hot tubs were full we never had a chance to get in. The Paris Buffet was open for breakfast to lunch but closed until 11:30pm and they only have nasty pizza and soft serve ice cream to eat. The sliding doors don't open until you are really close and they take to long. The bar lady Kwee doesn't assist you if she doesn't want too. The goft course and everything was to tiny. Back on deck 7, I got hurt walking stairs because the elevators take to long they wanted to charge you for a bandage when your bleeding all over. We made it to Grand Cayman they limit the people of the boat. And at the end you rather stay on the boat because we took the best 10 tour and we went to about 6 places and one was the trash mil. On are way to Conzumel in the middle of the ocean 10 hours away from Conzumel and 8 hours away from Grand Cayman a man got intoxicated. And the captain told someone else to tell us the boat is going back to Grand Cayman. Everyone when downstairs to talk to the captain but he didn't dare to show his face as his excuse was he is driving the boat at 7 or 8 pm. He already turned the boat and the captain never showed up. We got to Grand Cayman hours before but the captain dropped of the Man and started to go around the island. He was going fast to Grand Cayman but he couldn't drop the guy off and go fast to Conzumel. No one wanted to go to Grand Cayman. They gave us $10.04 per person for Conzumel ( we had insurance and they closed there lines for carnival.) And everyone was disappointed. If you are not Vip diamond you aren't treated right. The cruise is not modern or redone as they say. On the last day the there was 3 guys to fix one light. And everything else is broken. Read Less

This was my 14th cruise - 5th on a Carnival ship. I received a free cruise voucher after a previous cruise in the Spring and decided to take advantage of it and treat myself to a mini vacation. I knew that this ship was older and smaller than most of their other ships, but wanted to use Tampa as my departure point as I have kids in the area and could get in a visit with them as a bonus. I was highly disappointed with my entire experience. I have no complaint with any of the staff. Everyone was friendly and did their jobs well. I was quite disappointed with the poor quality and variety of food. Presentation was lackluster. Lido food was limited to whatever "theme" they had each day. Desserts were tasteless and boring. Lines for the Grill and Pizza were always long and crowded due to their location. What I was most disappointed in was the behavior of a great proportion of the passengers, Granted, Carnival is known to be more oriented to younger guests, but I was a little (or a lot) annoyed by the attire, particularly in the eating areas. Although there are signs posted that people should wear cover-ups or shirts over bathing suits the dining area was full of young women with thong type suits in the food lines. Bare chested men( and never the buff ones, only the hairy, pot belly ones), and women of all sizes in bathing suits. I can't remember when I have heard such offensive language in all the common areas, as well. F- bombs seemed to be flying everywhere. I am by no means a prude, but I was grateful that I did not have children with me to hear random off-color language. Overall, this was just a poor experience in a cruise. I have given Carnival more than enough chances, and will avoid them in the future. Hope others had a better experience. Read Less

I have sailed on four different cruise lines of a total of over 10 cruises. This is was my first time sailing Carnival. I knew going in the ship was older (Paradise). Since I booked last minute, I got a cabin on deck 4 the last room before the employees only door in the very back. So that being said, no hallway runners or no yelling fellow passengers (Positive). Being that the ship was small, a few nights we felt the ship rock, but I don't get seasick and found it to be fine. What I didn't like was the staff did not keep the ship tidy. I always saw dirty cups, plates all over the place. Even in the elevator someone left their used cup. What I also witnessed was several staffers walking past trash and not picking it up (major pet peeve). It shows they don't care about their ship's appearance. I traveled with 12 other women. They were not able to accommodate our dining sitting arrangement so that we could all sit together. When we complained, their solution was to put us in back to back booths that sat 6 of us with a wall partition between us. Hello, women like to talk and after going our separate ways during the day we couldn't even catch up at dinner. Also, I was so excited about my prebooked under cavern river excursion. Once on board they left a note in our cabin that they canceled it. They decided to credit my cabin and not my credit card that it was charged on initially. Makes no sense to me. The last thing I'm thoroughly disgusted by is one of the mom's twenty something daughter was assaulted in her cabin. They somehow got into her cabin and rubbed her stomach. She described the male's attire as having a grey vest (sounds like staff). They said they would forward this to the Tampa Police once we got back. I will never cruise Carnival again. I only went because my younger sister recently passed away and my friends thought I needed to get away for some rest and relaxation. Read Less

After family problems we decided to take grandchildren on this cruise (from hell) unable to use half cabin due to upper bunk being down, food disgusting same every day children can't eat kids food unless you register them to eat it. Had to wait for 20-30 mins for elevators and many times not working or full of staff. Toilets nearest buffet. Restaurant no soap whole cries, no hand sanitiser at destiny dining room, waiting 10 minutes for food to come out after other family embers food has arrived, even getting part of your veggies arriving 15 minutes after course has arrived. Having tickets for smokey Robinson concert we took children up to kids club only to be told that. The baby couldn't attend until 21:30 super stuff the show started at 21:30 on the dot so we had to take her with us. 20 mins wait for bar service and once no bar service at all. Breakfast dibarcal cold coffee 3 mornings, food swimming in grease and generally unappealing and anything that was served to you was miserly potions and once the staff member put 3small pieces of sausage on plate which didn't even equal one whole sausage turned her back when more was requested. Best part of the cruise was the end so happy to get off and back to a hotel for a decent sleep with adjustable aircon and no noise and swimming pool which you can actually swim in. Read Less

Seeing that this was our first cruise, our family of four decided to go a shorter cruise out of Florida. Our cruise departed on a Thursday with one stop in Cozumel and arriving in Tampa on Monday morning. We picked a cruising vacation over a resort vacation because everyone we spoke to said "you can't beat the food on a cruise". I should have know what we were in for during check-in. Loads of loud obnoxious people! I thought, once we get on the boat, it'll be better. It was not the case. The entire four days we were surrounded by loud drunken individuals from early morning until late at night. We were disturbed every night by people partying in the halls outside of our cabin. We called security but it didn't do much good. It was extremely frustrating especially with two kids. We did not get any sleep. It was really bad because you couldn't get away from it. Secondly, embarking the boat in Cozumel was a joke. There was no crowd control whatsoever. Drunk people throwing up beside us and budding in line. "It was a spectacular scene for my kids to witness!" Not one member of my family wanted to get back on the ship. Thirdly, the pool facility was not adequate. We spent a lot of time at sea and the tiny pool was full constantly. The second pool was the size of a hot tub. The hot tubs that they did have were either full or closed for whatever reason. Last but not least, the food....where do I start! The worst food I've ever had. The food was served cold, the chicken was rubber and I can go on. You had to pay extra for a decent cut of meat or seafood. The one night they offered lobster, it was cold and had a rubber texture. It was truly gross! The food was absolutely horrible. I have nothing positive to say about the dining room except the staff was lovely. They were very friendly and attentive. The kids raved about the soft ice cream. On a positive note, the staff was just so great. The nicest people ever. Our cabin stewart was an awesome guy. I'm not sure how they keep a smile on their faces considering the rude and obnoxious people they were serving. Read Less

Pool and hot tubs were cold. Toilet overflowed twice and they tried denying it and leaving us in a stinky nasty room and still never let us switch rooms. Also we watched the cabin stuart across the hall from our room going through all the peoples stuff (even one of their phones ) while the people were gone so we refused to have them come clean our room unless we were right there. Most entertainment especially the musicians were brutal to listen to. Staff were unfriendly much of the time. They just want tips before they will acknowledge you. Pool deck was very slimmey and slippery . I fell once on it . It was like walking on ice at times. Most of the food was ok but could have had a better salad bar ( like there was no lettuce). Pizza was suppose to be 24 hours but not true. I tried to get a pizza at 5 am and they said they don't have pizza at this time. I could go on and on but have been on other cruises and very much enjoyed them . This one was just aweful in comparison. Read Less

Ok, I'm not a hard guy to please, actually I'm the type that would just take the piece of hair out of my food and roll with it, BUT this cruise got worst by the day. First night, after my eldest son all of 6'4 was attempting to pull out the sofa sleeper in the GS Suite we called room service to make sure we wouldn't damage anything, our response was after 9:00pm they couldn't assist, we would need to wait until tomorrow. First night at dinner (Elation Dinning Room) I ordered a glass of wine and was changed for an entire bottle. I informed the waiter that i didn't order a whole bottle of wine because I purchased a wine package after boarding the ship; therefore I have a entire bottle of the wine they opened in the restaurant, in my room. The waiter insisted that i stop eating dinner with my family and good to my cable (U117) to get the unopened bottle I purchased and swap it out with the bottle they opened. I actually thought about doing it, BUT after thinking about the bigger picture ( A GLASS of WINE ) I was like no. Then after really thinking about it the next day, I spoke with the manager of Elation and was informed the they credited the $40 bottle off my account. The bigger issue here was the way the waiter insisted that I get the un-open bottle from my cabin in the middle of eating dinner with my family. On top of this issue the food in this fine dinning restaurant was cold and pre-prepared. My daughter asked if she could order a item on the menu without the mushrooms, the waiter said, no it comes pre-cooked. This was my families first cruise and from this experience I'm sure it will be our last. We'll continue to fly to our destinations. Cruising is not for us especially on the Paradise. Read Less

Recently, my boyfriend and me took a Carnival cruise on the Paradise during December 22-27 , 2014 . I was thinking , it's would be a perfect little vacation getaway. Usually we book balcony cabin, but this time we had inside cabin( booked cabin 2 weeks prior cruising) . Instead my boyfriend got very sick ( we think , from poor air circulation and mold ). We complained for 3 days, that it's very hot in the cabin, only on day 3 did the technician finally unscrewed the air vent, witch was full of mold and solid black in color. In fact, most everyone staying on the empress deck was sick and coughing like my boyfriend. With regard to what is supposed to be the reason we all cruise (the superb food) Carnival Paradise's food was simply awful. Specifically the eggs were not real (seemed to be made from powder), the coffee and tea were not brewed. They both were made from syrup and water and tasted horrible. The juices were not made from juice. They use Vitality which is more like a juice drink full of added sugar. The ship was dirty and proper sanitation procedures were not used. Servers not wearing gloves and taking dirty plates away and serving food right after without cleaning hands or wearing gloves. Needless to say we would not recommend the Carnival brands and will never book with them again. They want to charge full price and provide 2nd class service. Read Less

I just returned from this trip and it was one of the worst weeks I have ever had. The food was unacceptable and disgusting. I spent the whole week trying to find one thing that was good enough to just eat till we returned and did not find anything. Even the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches were awful. The cigarette smoke from the casino seeped down throughout the boat and by the end of the cruise, my floor at the bottom was even overpowered with it. Everyone on the boat was wasted, even 12 year old children. The staff is poor and there are only 12 americans out of 900 cruise members. The rest speak poor english. The ports are so americanized that it feels like you never leave the USA. The entertainment is awful. The shows were poor and the comedy show was so vulgar for no reason.  They get you by making you think its cheap to get on the boat but we still racked up a hefty bill just with the necessities like drinking water. The free water throughout the boat is so chlorinated that you are forced to buy alcohol for approx $12 a drink or $5 water bottles. The announcements were awful and Carnival was so disorganized, nobody ever knew what was happening. Read Less

We were quite disappointed with this experience. As mentioned by most reviewers, this ship is 'tired' but clean. I think that you get what you pay for....think of a Motel 6 experience. Unfortunately, we must have had a large number of smokers on board because the 'activity' decks reeked of stale smoke the entire trip. We also had some bad weather-and there seemed to be a perpetual smell of vomit in those same areas...maybe from seasickness, maybe from too much partying. 95% of the time the staff was fantastic--our room steward kept everything tidy for us and was very helpful and friendly. We did run into a couple of grumpy staff--in guest services of all places! Food: forget it. This was some of the worst food I've ever tried to eat, especially in the Lido deck buffet area. The dining room options were better, but again, you are getting what you pay for so don't expect the best meals of your life. Room service was quick and courteous, same quality of food. Faster to the Fun: BUY IT! (this is why I've given 'embarkation' 6 stars). This is worth the cost. One fee per cabin and you get priority boarding (zip right through-we were less than 25 minutes start to finish), tender, and disembarkation when you get home. You do have to make sure you ask how to make it happen--the crew was NOT good at making sure we knew (for example we were sitting waiting for tender, and the emcee actually ASKED if anyone had 'Faster to the Fun' but then did not tell us we needed to be in a different area of the ship to get priority tender. We only found out because we approached her and asked.) Overall, this is a good, very cheap option for a short get away...just keep your expectations low and you won't be disappointed. Read Less
