We learned about Viking Cruises from our friends who had taken two Viking River Cruises and had signed up for the Viking British Isles ocean cruise and asked us to go with them. The Viking Sun was a beautiful ship with a comfortable amount of passengers booked, not crowded like other cruise lines. Other things we liked over other cruise lines were no camera photographers, no children, no ...
We wanted a Nordic cruise, and Viking offered an excellent itinerary with "Into the Midnight Sun." This cruise offers a great look at the coastal cities and fjords of Norway, with later stops at the Shetland and Orkney Islands and then Scotland and England. We added a three day trip to Oxford that included visits to Blenheim Palace and Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey) and loved it!
The ship was ...
We chose this cruise to celebrate my husband's 80th birthday. We enjoyed it very much. We have taken many river and ocean cruises but not around the British Isles. The Viking Sun is a beautiful ship. The staircases are decorated with murals of the Bayeaux Tapestry. The place where high tea is served each afternoon looks like a forest. The Explorer's Lounge is a wonderful space for relaxing ...
We wanted to see the British Isles and this seemed to be the best way to do so. The Sun is a beautiful ship. The service was fantastic. The on board experience with Viking Ocean rivals the other top of the line cruise lines. However, unless you book in one of the most expensive cabins, by the time you are allowed to book shore excursions, which are booked on a priority basis, the best times for ...
We wanted to do a British Isle Cruise. It exceeded expectations. Loved the ship, excursions, service and food. The overview of the next port each day was really helpful. The Tour Guides for the most part really enhanced the trip. Guides in Greenwich, Dublin, Belfast and Bergen were especially memorable. The options at the World Cafe were plentiful and excellent. Loved the breakfast pastries and 9 ...
This was an excellent cruise. The ships journey was so great, ports and excursions were fascinating, as was the ship and accommodations which were so comfortable The food was terrific as were activities and lectures/shows. We loved it.
Every port had so much to offer and immerse in the experience.
All the cultural lectures were so interesting, The ones I particularly like included geneology, ...
We were invited on this cruise by relatives. We had never sailed with Viking before. We had read that ocean cruising was a somewhat new endeavor for Viking, so being experienced ocean cruisers, we thought that we would check them out. Boy, are we glad that we did!
The Sun is a beautiful ship! She's nearly brand new, and was a joy so sail on. It was a real gas to meet her, anchored in the Thames ...
We choose this cruise because of the fascinating itinerary. We really enjoyed the variety of ports and shore excursions. The included experts, such as the historian and archaeologist, gave intriguing talks about the ports of calls and then came with us on the excursions and made them even more interesting.
The food was delicious, with lots of variety and space to enjoy it.
The ship was ...
My wife and I had a long time desire to go to England, Scotland and Ireland and the Viking River cruise we were on 2 years ago gave us confidence to sign up for an ocean cruise.
The on board experience was similar to the river cruise, in that the service and friendliness of the staff was excellent. We never felt crowded or rushed. Never wanted to go somewhere on the ship and turned around ...
Viking Rep met us at the plane and helped us navigate Heathrow. Because we had a pre-cruise package, we were handed off to a limo driver, who was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay in London at the Conrad St. James.
The ship was all we hoped for, and more, We usually had breakfast and lunch at the World Cafe, because of its convenience, variety, and quality. Food and beverages were ...
