We chose this cruise for three reasons. The itinerary offered us a chance to see the peripheral sites of the British Isles without changing lodgings frequently. We wanted to avoid the large cruise ships. We also wanted a cruise that offered a wide selection of shore tours. Viking offered all of this at a reasonable price.
The flexible dining options were also a bonus. We preferred the ...
This is my honest (and LONG) review of our first ever cruise. We have traveled extensively on our own. The only organized tours we have done were with the American company Rick Steves. We travel to make connections with other cultures, to expand our understanding of the world and the issues it faces; and to have fun doing it.
This particular Viking cruise was not a good match for that. ...
Room Service was terrible. The luggage forwarding, my name brand clothes are stolen by either the luggage forwarding company or port crew. Not enough activities for the world cruiser. Very disappointed with this cruise, was expecting the service to be outstanding. Some bartenders are good and some are disappointing. The Head Chef is excellent but when he left for vacation the food was not ...
To supplement the Inaugural World Cruise.
There still is too little emphasis on preventing the spread of colds and respiratory diseases: Very little sanitation of exercise equipment in fitness area (need signs IN front of each pieces of equipment, not the dinky signs too small to read and need staff enforcing wiping down equipment and the 20-minute use limit), very little enforcement at the ...
We choose the British Isles Cruise because we have always wanted to experience all that England, Scotland and Ireland. This was the best way to see them all! We plan on going back to each country! The tours were great and each tour we took offered accurate facts and the stories were filled with interesting stories.
Our cabin was on the 6th level and had a spacious balcony and the room was ...
We chose this cruise because we wanted to learn more of the long history and varied cultures the United Kingdom, and experience the land and peoples without having to drive or figure out train schedules. Norway was an added bonus. Loved the cruise and remember aspects of it daily. We felt Viking went "over the top" in considering every detail to enhance our cruise experience. Here's a ...
We signed up on a previous Viking Sun cruise (the inaugural round-the-world cruise) and it was so great we wanted to 'do it again' even though this was a different route. Actually, this was not a 40-day cruise (per the review title) but the 126-day Treasures cruise, from London to LA via Patagonia, which was the first half of Viking's "Ultimate World Cruise".
As expected, everything about the ...
Recommended by family members who traveled with us. This was their 4th Viking Cruise! My husband and I will definitely sail again with y'all. It was truly a magical adventure. Everyone aboard from the cleaning people in the bathroom, to the bartenders, to the waiters in fine dining, to the people serving the food in the buffet line, to the Viking Vocalists, to the cruise director: every single ...
We had not cruised the north atlantic, Great Britain, Norway, Iceland, Greenland, Canada and the Northeast states before, so we were looking for new lands to discover. We found Viking Sun in the same place that we left her 18 months before, moored in the Thames at the Cutty Sark: all spiffed up and ready for a new group of explorers and energetic crew and staff. Like coming home again. Various ...
This was our first cruise ever and our expectations were modest. We enjoyed the entire experience, from our no hassle transfer from the Bergen airport on. Viking provided for our every comfort, even on the excursions: bottled water, snacks, and umbrellas--which you are likely to need in the British Isles.
We signed up for nearly all of the inclusive tours and added an optional tour most days. ...
