I had a credit from COVID and had never seen Alaska.
Viking did a great job with everything. The food was outstanding - I only had one item I didn't love - the eggplant
cannelloni!
The guest lecturers were very informative and well-spoken. My only suggestion would be to move up the 6:30
lectures to 5:30 because I feel more people would attend.
The cruise director, Heather ...
This was our first cruise so we have nothing to compare this cruise experience to. We found the service to be great and enjoyed the cuisine.
We knew we wanted to cruise Alaska, but did not want to be on a big ship. The Viking Ocean ships have 920 passengers which is a good amount. We booked a basic stateroom veranda which was a great size. Would not have needed anything more extravagant. ...
We chose this cruise because we always wanted to go to Alaska. For the first time we had Viking book our air and unfortunately United Airlines turned out to be a nightmare. We had to fly to Anchorage and then take a two hour bus ride to Seward where we met the Orion. We didn't arrive until late afternoon and at that point had no idea where our room was since we were not assigned a room. At 4 pm ...
This was our second Viking Ocean cruise and we thoroughly enjoyed the shipboard experience and the excursions. It was a great way to experience Alaska while being treated to first rate care. I can’t say enough about the attitude of the entire Viking staff. Every member, from the housekeepers to the restaurant workers to the entertainers to the sailing crew, was cheerful and attentive every time ...
Viking, true to their reputation did everything right. From the flights to Anchorage, pickup at the airport and drop off at the hotel for the two night extension. There was always someone in lobby to assist. The breakfasts catered by the hotel and the curated excursions were great. It was nice to meet some of our fellow ship mates prior to sailing. The bus ride to Seward was beautiful and the ...
My wife and I in 2018 had a "best vacation ever" experience on the Viking Star and were eager to have an enjoyable experience on Viking Orion. After eating my home cooking for nearly three years during the pandemic, both my wife and I were particularly excited to look forward to eating the wide array of fancier and well-prepared dishes that we enjoyed during our time on the Viking Star. We were ...
Thank you, tfhmbr2, for taking the time to share your experience with us. Nevertheless, we are sorry to learn the voyage fell short of your expectations. Should you wish to continue the...
We chose this cruise because we had never been to Alaska before. We were very pleased with the Orion, as well as all the crew members. They took very good care of us, and our state room was kept very clean throughout the trip. The food was wonderful, and you can find a real mix of items to choose from. As for the trip, we enjoyed each of the stops along the way. I enjoyed the charm of Ketchikan ...
We had taken 2 Viking River Cruises and wanted to try Viking Ocean cruises. In general it was wonderful. We traveled with 2 close friends
Our cabin was large and absolutely dead quiet. We had so much room that we (true over-packers) had not used all the drawers provided.
Our two stewards were beyond helpful and the cabin was kept spotlessly clean.
We raved about the food. The quality of ...
I have enjoyed Viking River cruises. I enjoy no kids, excellent service, not having to show cruise card to order a drink, no casino, lectures and top-notch classical entertainment. The food was delicious and plentiful, including homemade gelato every day. The Viking buffet is much more varied than some other lines, with something truly delicious for everyone, including a daily Asian offering ...
The ship was nice and our steward was great. The bed was great for sleeping. Excursions were fairly good, but some were very poor. The food was average for cafeterias and restaurants. Manfredi's was a big disappointment. The Restaurant was the best experience overall for meals. There were a number of minor problems with coordination by Viking staff. But there was a big snafu during ...
