Have traveled to Alaska quite a bit to ski/coach at Mt. Alyeska. Never really had a chance to see the rest of the state, thought this would be an excellent way to do it. Friends suggested Viking, was not disappointed. Cabin, food, work out facilities, tours, all top notch. Did I mention the food? Damn. Pretty incredible.
Did local kayak tours as well as a few other excursions, the local tour ...
We chose this cruise because the ship was smaller than others and not as many people as other cruise lines. We hadn’t been on a proper cruise and don’t like the thought of those mega ships which look like floating cities. Additionally, we had heard that Viking provides good service, but actually we found the service to be GREAT! They had knowledgeable speakers explaining about the sea life or ...
We chose our cruise late, we literally got the very last room available, 4000. It was gorgeous and roomy! The stewards, dinner servers, and whole crew team were extremely pleasant and friendly! Since we signed up late, we were unable to obtain any paid excursions and expected to be disappointed on the “included” excursions. Boy we’re we wrong! We were welcomed on shore by lovely students who ...
Excellent trip, accommodations were great and the dining was exceptional. The Chef's Table and Manfredi's dinners were excellent; the dinners at the Restaurant were very good. Having real good weather during the cruise was a bonus - we were very fortunate to take in all of the great views.
The excursions were a mixed bag, in the sense that some expectations were not met. For example, we were ...
Everything about this cruise was first class. Our suite, an Explorer (number 5000) amazing. Restaurants all amazing. Staff amazing. Talks fantastic, silver drinks package superb. Sometimes we felt like the only people on the boat and the staff treated as such. The ship is just the right size. 900 guests, and despite Covid causing some issues with staffing levels, we were superbly looked ...
Our 50th anniversary and great reviews. We have taken over 25 cruises and Viking was highly reviewed. The ship was very nice and very accessible. The service at dining was below expectations. We were able to eat at Manfredis one night before my wife contracted Covid. She returned her steak twice trying to attain medium rare with no success. We were confined to our room for 8 days even though I ...
After having our Princess Alaska cruise cancelled for 2020 and 2021, we gave up on Alaska and booked a Viking river cruise on the Danube for May, 2022. When the war in Ukraine broke out, we decided we didn't want to go to Europe right now, so we cancelled that cruise and had to find another one to use our vouchers on... We found this Alaska cruise that was almost the exact same dates, so we ...
After 5 Viking river cruises, we were ready to try an ocean cruise. Alaska has always been on our bucket list, as was the Rocky Mountaineer. We decided to combine the two, with a post trip in Denali National Park. It just ticked so many boxes.
We had spectacular weather and that made everything even better. We got to see the Glacier Bay glacier, which was pretty unique. Every shore excursion ...
Always wanted to see Alaska, and felt very comfortable with Viking's Covid protocols. I've done several longboat river cruises but was curious about the difference in quality with the (small) ships. I was even more impressed with the sense of intimacy and personal attention experienced on the ship! Having worked as an entertainer on large ships in the Caribbean in the 1980's, I was thoroughly ...
Overall this was a wonderful cruise and we had a great time. For me this cruise could have have been 5 stars if the embarkation was improved. First of all, having to go thru Vancouver definitely complicated matters. We had met all the pre-cruise Covid testing, but my wife was randomly selected for another Covid test by security in Vancouver; not a huge deal but a hassle none the less. We were ...
