Just returned from a 7 day cruise on the Marella Discovery 2. It was without doubt the best value we've had to date. The entertainment staff were close and personal throughout, with the daily shows all having a different theme which was very enjoyable, as the ship is of a medium size, there was no need to book to visit places on board and we very very rarely queued for anything. The food was ...
My partner and I chose Marella Discovery 2 as I had previously been on a smaller cruise (formerly with Thomson) and as it was his first cruise. Also we wanted to do something special/memorable for my 50th birthday. The price was reasonable, and we split 2 cruises over 2 weeks which made the choice of locations more interesting. We also wanted to see different places rather than just spend 14 ...
Wanted to visit Havana and limited in choice as not a fan of MSC.
Liked the Tui dreamliner flights in premium economy.
Pleasantly surprised at how good the condition of this older ship was.
Great staff and cruise director made it very relaxed .
Food was very good and drink package covered most tastes.
Only £50 to upgrade if you want top brands.
Would definitely book with Tui ...
Our reason for booking this Tui cruise was that we booked late and needed a disabled cabin, Tui were the only cruise line that could accommodate this at such short notice.
We are not “seasoned” cruisers, this was only our fourth cruise in total and we have only sailed with P&O previously. We were nervous reading the reviews but have to say from the outset that we did enjoy our seven nights ...
We booked this cruise totally for the length and the ports of call. We were not sure of the quality Marella would provide but the whole experience was much better than anticipated from some reviews.
Flights arriving throughout the day which meant embarkation was staggered and went very smoothly. Cabin was available straight away and luggage arrived timely.
The ship is a medium sized older ...
Been on Discovery 2 before, nice ship, food ok, staff lovely always smiling, especially Philip he is a credit to Marcella. Ports of call very good, weather in Europe not so good, we were in a force 12 gale one day, but we survived it. Entertainment from Headliners excellent, didn't see comidiens so can't comment. 4 Tunes very good but did not like Jon Asher. Pleased Captain didn't say it's going ...
We were on the same cruise but in reverse back in April this year.. weather for first week from Corfu through the med to Canary Islands was terrible but staff managed to keep everyone amused and jolly.. A lot of staff have been moved to other ships which was a negative as a lot of staff in live lounge and atrium had none of the zip and bounce that the originals had except two..There was Shevroy an ...
been on this ship before , assistant cruise director very good,Ted is his name .4 tunes group excellent the guitar player was like a Jimmy Hendrix.show team a bit like a high school end of team thing. Boys had good voices but the girls ,dreadful!.
staff in restaurants brilliant ,Vladimir,Jason,Romaine in fact all of them.
Not enough chairs in bar areas,A bit like a booze cruise for ...
This was our first time cruising and we wanted a smaller or mid sized ship with a balcony. Discovery 2 fits that bill. My wife and I, both in our 60s, would thoroughly recommend this cruise. Cabin 7006 with balcony was excellent in every way. In particular it had plenty of power points. One USA, one European and three USBs, one under each wall light.. We ate largely in 47 degrees the main dining ...
Our problems with Marella Cruises started just after booking: we didn't realise that when we booked through the cruise hotline we were automatically diverted to a store location (which was nowhere near us). Not only were the staff at Stockport ill-trained, but their computer system didn't even link up with the Cruise dept. I later had to give up adding an additional week hotel reservation because ...
