5th visit to Marella cruising and this was the poorest of all.
Staff were few and far between and distant compared to the previous cruise staff who were always friendly, polite and very attentive.
Entertainment was repetitive and boring quite frankly.
Service was poor at best and did not recognise next in line for drinks at each bar. Had top go to the bar as waiting staff were non ...
I have been cruising for nearly 60 years and been on countless cruises but I will give Discovery a fair review.
Firstly if you want a 4 or 5 star cruise book another cruise line. If you are looking for an easy going, relaxed dress code, decent food and cabins cruise book Marella.
The pool deck was horrendous, loud TUI reps not interested in cruisers just themselves. This deck was like ...
First Marella Cruise ,It started badly with a cabin move despite booking a deluxe balcony cabin September 2021 we were moved to an alternative deluxe balcony cabin minus sofa coffee table and fridge offered £50 compensation, for cabin change and £50 per person for missing furniture all added to our ship board account ( on an all inclusive cruise ) which we found very difficult to spend. The food in ...
we chose Marella as we liked the itinerary of the Caribbean islands offered on this cruise. we arrived 4 hours late due to a flight delay. when we arrived at our cabin we were disappointed to find our refurbished cabin had discoloured rusty ceiling panels above our bed. when we reported this they were disinterested. on the second night at midnight we were woken by very loud noises banging and ...
Really enjoyed this 2 week cruise from Barbados good ports of call, Grand suite cabin was fantastic the best room on 20+ cruises, huge balcony with lots of room for everything in the cabin. main restaurant food was really good buffet was ok but had better with other cruise lines, poolside entertainment team were very good, unfortunately one of the poolside acts was a piano player I think his last ...
The Trip
We booked this cruise having sailed Marella previously so we knew roughly what we were getting. The main objective was the variety of ports on the itinerary which included Puerto Rico, St Thomas, St Croix, Bequia and originally Guadeloupe , especially for my “Death in Paradise” TV show crazy wife. Having booked and paid in full, about a month before sailing, Marella changed the ...
It's probably common knowledge but in case you don't know - Marella is part of the TUI Travel Group.
We first booked a Marella cruise for spring 2022 as the itinerary included Guadeloupe ("Death in Paradise"). As Marella made several changes to the itinerary for 2022 we were able to change our booking to a 2023 cruise which again included Guadeloupe. Unfortunately, and to our great annoyance, ...
Rounded up from 2.5:
We have cruised with Marella in the past and have enjoyed the experience, this time however there were a number of significant issues which marred the experience:
- Before we even left the country, we received an email to say that the cabin we had had reserved for 18 months was no longer available so we would be moved. The email was very unhelpful, didn't explain at all ...
Our first cruise and it wont be our last, well organised at Birmingham Airport greeted by the Tui rep given our flight boarding pass suitcases taken from us and not to be seen again until outside our cabin door onboard ship in Barbados, we upgraded from an inside cabin to a Junior Suite with balcony No 8520 we were well pleased, very impressed with the ship it had undergone a major revamp 2022 ...
Went with Marella to the Caribbean because they included Xmas day and New Years Eve which other cruise lines did not. There was chaos at Birmingham Airport as there were two Tui flights flying to Barbados within twenty five minutes of each other, queued over one and half hours to check bags in. Poorly organised. This then caused queues at Security and on top of that flight nearly two hours delay ...
