The evening shows have always been the weakest of the Silversea's offering followed by the tours which tend to be lame and very overpriced. On the Silver Muse just about everything else is sub standard as well. It would seem Silversea has had problems finding enough extra staff for this relatively new larger ship and as a result many of the barmen are incompetent and waiting staff untrained. The chef's too have some weird interpretations of well known dishes albeit this is not the weakest area. 8 restaurants is too many though, better fewer and less strange. Our cruise from Bali to Sydney was not full (it would have been even worse on many fronts if it had been) but even so they ran out of things. What was even more unacceptable was that people left and joined the cruise at nearly every port making it seem like an upmarket ferry. Some were on for just 2 days! Needless to say we were not given or told about this option having booked and paid long ago. Due to Silversea not doing well currently they are now offering all manner of incentives such as this, included tours and cabin credits to try and get bodies in beds. They are very keen during the cruise to sell future cruises to their captive audience but based on the above one must seriously question the wisdom of falling for this. The price may rise as time passes but so very well may the incentives! As for celebrating Christmas I would simply say that in my opinion Jingle bells and Rudolph the red nosed Reindeer are not carols. New Year was a little better being harder to get wrong. All in all this felt like a shakedown cruise which is not what we paid for. The private owners of Silversea sold 67% of it last year. They made a mistake - they should have sold 100% as the once very good Silversea is slipping down the rankings fast. Read Less

Friends suggested it would be a great vacation my first in over 20 years I saved up all year for this snd everything about it was a huge disappointment the captain snd staff did nothing to make me feel safe in the upcoming typhoon and I left the ship due to my great for my safety along with 8 other people in my group there was NOTHING remotely luxurious about this ship it looked old and in need of a makeover and the room was sad snd depressing and in need of an major update it was really shabby the crew and captain had. I plan for the impending storm and made all of us terrified instead of feeling safe I would never recommend this cruise line to anyone it isnot what is advertised and I lost a lot of hard earned money for nothing and had no vacation at all Read Less

Past experiences were very good on The Wind, Spirit, and Silver Galapagos. The dining service on the Muse was deplorable. The food was inedible (we even lost weight on this cruise). Having to make reservations was a chore and the Japanese specialty restaurant was so poor, we felt scammed at $60 per person. The men having to wear a jacket while dining alfresco in Italy during the summer is punishing. The dining offered during the excursions was equally deplorable. Pretty certain the veal was actually foal during the Slovenia excursion. Two days in Kofu Greece is two too many, and one day for Rome is two too short. Overall, the ship is too big to do it the way a smaller ship does and not big enough to do it the way a larger ship does. Quality food sourcing and preparation is a lot easier for 200 guests, than 600. Gym is way too small; not enough equipment for 600 guests. Casino too small not enough gaming fir 600 guests. Shops on board are too big and stocked with lower end products. Would serve them well to have a Bulgari Boutique, after all, they serve their bath products and have a captive audience. Seems like a wasted opportunity for Bulgari. Overpriced, under delivered. Read Less

Liked the itinerary and found the ports in Greece to be very disappointing. restaurants on board the ship disappointing overall food very disappointing cold food and poor options. Our Butler service was poor. Virtually no entertainment on board. The Ports in Greece were very disappointing to us. Disembarkation was the worst I have ever experienced. 2+ hours to disembark a ship of this size. For the cost of this sailing we could have helicoptered between our favorite golf courses in Ireland/Scotland. Rented a luxury home in Napa Valley for a month. Will not ever rely on Silversea quality again. We could not have been more disappointed overall. The quality of beverages we could order was crazy poor. The Pizza restaurant could not make a crispy pizza no matter how many times I sent one back. I asked for Don Juan Tequila they could not get any?? I feel like the breakfast buffet was the worst of all. Read Less

Choose cruise because the iteniary was interesting with stops in NYC, Newfoundland and Ireland. Ship is very lovely but the food services are TERRIBLE. The food preparation, service (never hot in serving temperature), quality and selection of food venues is the worst of any of my over 1000 sailing days on various lines. Basically only 2 inside restaurant choices for lunch daily. Both serving below average food in selection and quality. Do not open the Japanese restaurant nor the IndoChina for addition luncheon variety except on shore days, which makes no sense. Other than the IndoChina restaurant, menus remained the same in all the inside restaurants for an entire cruise. Not even Evening Specials. Think the only reason for keeping the Atlantide Restaurant open (the worst of all the eating places) is to drive passengers to the 2 pricey optional restaurant choices.....neither of which is outstanding. The best food is offered in outside venues with no enclosures for weather considerations. This is true of both lunch and dinner. The Grill serves hot food and good service. The Pizza Parlor is also excellent. The Italian restaurant, which you would expect to be outstanding due to the ship's owner ship is barely adequate. Menu does not include such staples as meatballs, sausages, Ceasar Salad or cannolis. Gravy ( sauce) is ok but not authentic Italian taste or quality. The bar service was very good as well as the nightly entertainment in the bar. Overall entertainment was amateurish with young on- board singers and dancers and a couple of guests. No professionals. Activities on the ship definitely designed for non-active seniors. The usual bingo, trivia games, etc. Cabins and the ship in general were clean, modern and very pleasing. Excursions were fun and well handled by the staff as were the post trip hotel accommodations and transfers. Read Less

Its impossible, in a few words, to describe just how bad this cruise was! The way the restaurants were run, the quality of food and service, was just disgusting. I have sailed with Silversea's over a 100 days, but never, never again. I firmly believe this company has now set its sights onto a totally undiscerning client, who will accept a much lower standard. Of the passengers I spoke to, not one disagreed with my complaints. This review site gives you tips on the subjects to write about, so I will rate out of 5, each one: Ship) 2 - No atmosphere at all, and badly laid out. The main bar was too big and lacked atmosphere. Its was Xmas, but the entire room had just one small Xmas tree, no other decorations. The service of canapes was virtually non existent and when they did arrive, usually very few left on the tray. Much less staff than you used to get. Non of the staff, including management, or indeed the Captain, had a smile on their faces. They walked about as if just trying to get through the day! One passenger commented that she thought they were actually virtual reality and not human at all! Cabin) 3 - Average, with some very poor design faults Dining) 0 - An utter disgrace, not helped by poorly trained, surly eastern European staff. The food had little choice, poorly cooked and invariably cold! Same menu for a week at a time, with everyone fighting to get a table of 6 or more. The restaurant management were never around to take complaints. I myself asked to see the food and beverage manager, which took from 10pm one evening to 11am the next to get to meet him. Entertainment) 1 - You get what you pay for. Second rate holiday camp entertainers. Service) 0 - The worst I've ever encountered on board a ship, and I've cruised for over 50 years! Shore excursions) 0 - Words fail!! In summary, Regent Cruises here I come!!!! Read Less

We chose this cruise because we love luxury travel and thankfully we are able to afford it. There is a saying you get what you pay for, well just not on this ship! Our family had 2 connecting suites. We were not able to sleep due to the very loud vibrating noises we could hear off and on throughout the cruise. We spoke to the Hotel Director many times about this but it was never resolved. We were told by other cruisers that they were having problems also. There is nothing luxurious about not being able to sleep and then being ignored! The food was good especially La Dame where the service was excellent. We did not try the Indochine because the food is spicy which we do not enjoy and when we spoke to other passengers they said they did not enjoy the food there. Our son enjoyed cooking his own steak on a hot rock at The Grill. The service and food was good at Kaiseki. Having to have advanced reservations for every restaurant was a hassle. Jovanna in the excursion office were great and extremely helpful! The decor of the ship is boring and the art is awful. But everything is new and the crew did a great job keeping it spotless.
