The Maiden Voyage of the Silver Muse was a major disappointment. She was touted as "Simply Divine" but she was "Simply Folly". You would have expected Silversea to bring their most experienced staff to work this ship. Alas, that was not the case. The service was substandard and there was "attitude" among some of the staff. There were times when we were offered wine and never received it; ice tea was not refilled. Food was ordered but not delivered to the table. We were controlled by the ship. Silversea was so proud of their new "most comprehensive dining experience at sea...Our main dining room is always open seating so you can arrive at your leisure." (from Silversea Silver Muse Travel Journal) We never found this "dining room" after 13 days on the ship as it did not exist. This is the first ship we have been on where dining is a challenge and we have been on over 15 cruises. I called it the diet cruise. No reservation, no eating until after 9 p.m. in most cases. That is too late for us to eat with early activities the next day. We do not want to plan our meals ahead of time especially after a long day in port. The only place we could get into with regularity was Spaccanapoli but how much pizza and calzone can one eat. At least the food at this pizzeria was good and the service excellent. All the menus remain the same with no local offerings. How tiring is that?! Thank goodness the ports offered great restaurants where we met a lot of fellow cruisers who were also unhappy with the dining situation. Many passengers used "In Suite" dining so they could eat but we did not want to do this. The fun part of cruising is meeting fellow passengers and not being cooped up in your suite. The ports and shore excursions were the only things that made this cruise worthwhile. Embarkation and disembarkation went well. The cabins were comfortable and relaxing. Stay clear of this ship until they get their act together, if they do. Silversea certainly had the opportunity to turn things around during this cruise as there were many complaints but all remained the same. Poor service, average food and the worst dining concept on a luxury ship. Read Less

Having travelled with Silversea on numerous occasions we had high expectations from this Brand New 6 Star Luxury Cruise Liner. But the reality was Guests were used as 'Guinea Pigs' and treated with disrespect. We were never made aware that the policy in relation to Dinner Reservations was different to other Silversea Ships, all restaurants had to be booked well in advance or reservations recommended. The Dress Attire was dictated by the restaurant, truly a bizarre set up! This policy contradicted the information outlined within 'Travel Journal' which stated that the Main Restraurant is always open seating' We were placed on a 'Wait List' (5 / 8 Nights) awaiting a call from the 'Restaurant Manager' to confirm if or when you could eat, totally outrageous! . Several times we had to have our main evening meal in our room. Sometimes you got a telephone call just 20 mins before a slot in any restaurant was allocated, so it was very hard to plan/adhere to the require dress code. (Totally flawed system). The quality of the food was below average, even in the 'La Dame'. Meat tough, and courses on the menu were not offered or delivered. On numerous occasions food was served incorrectly, cold, undercooked or overcooked! The waiting staff in general went beyond the call of duty, this cannot be said of the Maitre D's or Management who seem to hid away from their guests and the mayhem which was going on. In fact overall you were made feel that it was a privilege to pay to be on this ship. In actual fact when we complained to the 'Maitre D's in 'La Terrazza' and 'Atlantide' they were not in the least bit 'solution minded' but took exception to the fact that we had actually complained to point out that the quality etc was not of the proper standard. Unfortunately we were blacklisted by these Maitre D's when tried to get a future booking of any kind, this was very childish to say the least. Internet access was Deplorable! Silversea the Muse (6) Star, we feel that the rating for this ship would be (3) Star, which would be a much more appropriate rating. We are 'Venetian Society Members' and it made no difference, we were treated so badly and we felt very undervalued as returning clients, we were totally gutted! We would not have been totally surprised to see 'Barbra Windsor' or 'Sidney James' on board as the main cast for 'Carry On Cruising' !!!!!! We are very sorry to say that this brand new 'SilverMuse' Ship is Soulless, how very, very disappointing!! :0( :0( :0( Read Less
