We chose this cruise because of our long history with Silversea. Our last cruise on The Wind showed us a very aging ship and amenities that worried us about Silversea's commitment to excellence. The Muse was a wonderful experience although the lack of intimacy of the smaller ships could be felt. Looking to our future cruise selections, we may need to look at competitive lines to maintain the small ship experience. We appreciated the additional restaurant selection and the food quality was improved. The casino was very small but appeared to meet the needs of the ship. As mentioned, more should be done to help passengers with limited mobility to explore ports of call and there should be a selection of "no cost" excursions to help explore the ports without additional fees. These can add up quickly and bring the cost of the cruise into non-competitive range. We were offered an upgrade to a Silver Suite which did cost us 2000.00 but we felt this was well worth the price. We did not received any ship board which in talking with other passengers, was unusual especially the British guests who seem to fare much better than we did. Most of the entertainment was scheduled for 10pm.. way too late when morning excursions start between 8 and 9. Earlier shows allow you to enjoy the entertainment then to dinner and then off to bed. The Silver Muse is a gorgeous ship - if you are looking for 'new' and modern then this is it. The cabins and decks and corridors have a very modern feel which I really liked. The cabins are very spacious and the bathrooms are large (with separate bath no less). Good sized balconies too. We had a night in Barcelona beforehand which was great (can recommend the Ohla hotel ... and try their Sangria in the restaurant, a knockout) - then embarking the ship was a breeze and absolutely seamless. Pluses of the ship are: - spacious and modern cabins (we were deck 8 and it was great) - great choice of restaurants and top quality food (I particularly recommend Indochine for beautiful Asian flavours and Spaccanapoli for fabulously good pizza) - plenty of space on decks and in restaurants, with only 600 passengers - have a coffee in the Arts café in the morning, it is a little hidden gem which is fairly empty but does the best coffee on the ship! - have a pre- and post-prandial in the Observatory on deck 11 - another hidden gem - butler service was great, we didn't use our butler a lot, but we had a birthday celebration onboard and our butler Edmondo brought champagne and birthday cake and, yes, sang happy birthday! - self service laundry facilities on each level - very handy - and, of course, drinks any time of day or night, freely flowing, no need to order and pay (we now realise we do not want to cruise any other way). - TIP for Cannes - absolutely MUST do the 'Cannes by Segway' tour - it was unbelievably easy to learn how to use a Segway and we segwayed our way through the town and even an indoor food market. Best excursion I have ever done. Other tips and info: - there was NO problem getting into any of the included restaurants even without a reservation (we did not try the pay extra ones, but did not need to as the included restaurants were so good) - the age of people on board was much younger than I had expected, quite a few children as well, possibly because it was a summer cruise - dress code was very casual during the day, and only really got to a level of neat informal in the evening (while a few men wore suits, many wore jacket and tie and still others were dressed more informally than that which took me by surprise). So no need to bother with your dinner suit gents...although my man did and he looked gorgeous! - pool area was the most populated area during the day due to warm weather - grab a deck chair away from the pool area if you want to read, waiters will come by and see if you need a drink - entertainment was possibly the only disappointment on the ship, there isn't much of it ... if you are used to cruising on a larger ship with high level entertainment in the evenings and lots of options during the day, you will be a tad disappointed, so be warned. Overall, in my opinion, a 5 star ship and we look forward to cruising on the Silver Muse again. Read Less

I wanted an ultra luxury one week cruise for my first cruise. I travel a lot. Always stay at five star hotels and resorts. Examples include Peninsula, Mandarin Oriental, Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton. My Silver Muse experience was five star in every way. I had very high expectations and they were exceeded. I highly recomend Silversea. The suite I had was superb. As good as any suite at the hotels I mentioned above. The restaurants were also superb. I have been in the restaurant business for almost 50 years. I have owned five star restaurants. So I am a very tough judge. But all of the restaurants had excellent food and simply superb service. My butler service was also superb. Mark was my butler and he could give a course on how to be a great butler. And now for the spa. Wonderful. I was shocked at the quality of services which actually included Jaciara who did chinese acupuncture. She really helped my aching knee. Aching from dancing too much each night. In all a great experience. Read Less

Cabin was fine but not luxurious. Average compared to other cruise lines with a balcony. Entertainment was poor and boring. No music at the pool and servers did not come up to us and ask us if we wanted a drink. I had bought an excursion for a total of $258.00 and messed up my day so we missed it. I couldn’t get a credit for another excursion and for the price I paid for the actual cruise I was disappointed they would not work with me. I didn’t like having to pay to dine at two of the restaurants. Food was good but I’ve had great food on Norwegian, Holland America, princess and holland. Was disappointed there was not an omelet station and that I would have to order one which took a long time to get. Breakfast was mediocre. The ship wasn’t gorogeous like I expected for a luxury cruise. I did like the size of the ship. The excursions were very pricey. The wait staff was nice and our room Butler was exceptional. Our stay in the ports were pretty short and didn’t like how we ended in Rome but there wasn’t any time to visit the area unless we booked a hotel. Read Less

The Butler service is amazing! The Food is fabulous! And such variety!! They had food from the areas that we were visiting at the restaurants. My 22 year old daughter was with me, and if she did not want the food from one particular restaurant, they were only too willing to get what she wanted from another restaurant on board! All the drinks you can possibly want at any time of the day very good quality liquor. The staff was always checking to see if you were hydrated, or would like a drink! The excursions are absolutely wonderful - but you will have to take some time to figure out which one you want to do. There are many to choose from - but every one we did was educational, well planned, thrilling, historical, artistic and DOABLE... whether or not physical agility was required. You will LEARN about the WORLD! They make you feel very special - wonderful entertainment - great dancers and singers. Everyone of the staff knows your name! Read Less

We chose the cruise because of its itinerary and as we get older, the idea of packing and unpacking has become far less appealing. The size of the cruise ship and the number of passengers was very high on our list of priorities. Having been to Venice previously, we kept our exploration to a minimum in the general vicinity of our hotel, the Monaco and Grand Canal. The transfer from the airport to the hotel was seamless, as was the transfer to the cruise terminal. Embarkation went smoothly, as did disembarkation. The fact that we did not have to wrestle with our luggage was a convenience. Our cabin was a Classic Verandah, pretty much midship on Deck 6. The bathroom has both tub and shower, with plenty of water pressure and hot water. The cabin had plenty of storage and was spacious, as was the verandah. The only issue that we had with the cabin was the lack of USB ports and power outlet on one side of the bed. Our butler, Chetan, and Suite Attendant, Christophere, were both wonderful. There were more than sufficient dining options, and we tried them all. Breakfast in La Terrazza was excellent, albeit a little chaotic sometimes, especially with the timely delivery of coffee and toast. Several times we had breakfast in our suite as we had early departures for excursions. It was always delivered on time and sometimes even ahead of time! One evening, we just wanted a hamburger and this was kindly ordered for us from the room service menu when we were in Spaccanapoli. We felt that there should have been more entertainment options (danceable music) for baby boomers earlier in the evening (maybe 9 p.m.) not at 11 p.m. Service was always excellent. We took excursions in every port and they were mostly excellent and informative, except for the one on Corfu which was all day and had us spending far too much time on the bus. We have already booked our next cruise on Silver Shadow next August. Read Less

Past experiences were very good on The Wind, Spirit, and Silver Galapagos. The dining service on the Muse was deplorable. The food was inedible (we even lost weight on this cruise). Having to make reservations was a chore and the Japanese specialty restaurant was so poor, we felt scammed at $60 per person. The men having to wear a jacket while dining alfresco in Italy during the summer is punishing. The dining offered during the excursions was equally deplorable. Pretty certain the veal was actually foal during the Slovenia excursion. Two days in Kofu Greece is two too many, and one day for Rome is two too short. Overall, the ship is too big to do it the way a smaller ship does and not big enough to do it the way a larger ship does. Quality food sourcing and preparation is a lot easier for 200 guests, than 600. Gym is way too small; not enough equipment for 600 guests. Casino too small not enough gaming fir 600 guests. Shops on board are too big and stocked with lower end products. Would serve them well to have a Bulgari Boutique, after all, they serve their bath products and have a captive audience. Seems like a wasted opportunity for Bulgari. Overpriced, under delivered. Read Less

We truly expected a lot more from a Luxury cruise line. The cruise itself was nicely decorated..all beige, but the glamour that you see on other cruise lines for half the price was not there to be found. Forget about a grand lobby!. The entertainment was poor. The show - three ladies and three gentleman- had great voices, but my goodness, they were soo fake, we only went to the first show and never went back again, which was the case of others as well. The casino area is as small as a bedroom, I understand that the cruise only allows 600 guest, but no more than 20 people could fit on that casino. The nightclub with a DJ..dear Lord! He sure knows how to clean a club..empty! after a few songs everyone left! Even thought the average age is 70's, he played music for teenagers. WE all told him to change the beat, I even went as far as to give him a list of great dancing songs -I'm a dancer and love a great time!- but his repertoire was very poor. He was not paying attention at the age of the audience, that even though they were in the late 60's and much older, they all wanted a great time, but not jumping up and down on the dance floor! The cruise had a party one night around the pool - it was the night of the eclipse- and the party was very good! everyone was having a great time! The common areas were very nice, the pool area was great, big and ample space for everyone, but again, the trio that played in the afternoons was horrible. We had to let them know our hearts were still beating, to stop playing funeral music.. and they did!!! everyone applauded and we all had a better time. The restaurants... so, so. They have a hibachi, which we didn't try, we didn't want to come out smelling like food, they have a Japanese restaurant, a bit spicy, but ok. The restaurant called Silver Notes, have a very small menu, they don't offer salad, and only two choices of dessert...but they have a great piano player and a great singer! The Atlantide restaurant, was the biggest and with better choices, but when you are on a cruise for 12 days, and have to eat on those restaurants at least 10 of those days, you expect a change in the menu at least once. We didn't participated on the shore excursions, we arranged those on our own. Embarkation and disembarkation was great, very smooth and orderly. The cabin was the best..and I'm leaving it for last! We had the Grand Suite, and OMG! what a beauty,! with LR, DR and 1.5 bathrooms. The bedroom was huge, with make up area, big closets and ample bathroom. The balcony, wrapped around was the best view coming into every port. Our butler was a 5 star! He was always there for us when we needed him and he went out of his way to always keep us informed of everything and provided our room with our needs. Would we travel with Silverseas again?...Must likely NOT. It has even killed our desired to travel on another cruise period. Read Less

This was out third trip with Silver Sea and the best so far. In all candor, our experience last year was not what we had hoped for but when we shared our concerns with Silversea, they handled it like a luxury brand should and that is what enticed us to come back again. Wow, are we glad we did! This was our first time on the Muse and it lived up to our expectations. It has a very modern, clean, and bright feel which were all very appealing. We had a room on the 5th floor which was perfect. Our butler, Edmondo, accommodated our every need and Mark at the 5th floor bar took great care of us. The food on the boat was excellent, with a significant number of options. We loved eating outside at La Terrazzo and Matel, Milo, and Antonio all made sure each dining experience there was top notch. We also enjoyed our meals in Silver Note, Atlantide (Emman was the perfect waiter for us!), and La Dame. The pizza on the deck was also really good! Our group is not one that spent much time with the onboard entertainment but we spent a lot of time in the casino where the entire staff was really good. There always seemed to be a fun group of people around the blackjack table and we built a nice camaraderie. Delia and Emiliano were a lot of fun there. Most of our evening were spent on the Panorama long on the 9th floor. Talk about incredible service! We never had to wait for drinks. Alex and Dinesh poured them while Jorge, Inna and Luis brought them to us time and again as did the rest of the staff there. We met up with a lot of fun people and while we were mostly outside, there were plenty of people dancing inside as well. As far as the ports we visited went, we really liked all of them. We were fortunate to be in Croatia for the World Cup Final which was a once in a lifetime experience. It would have been a bit more ideal had we arrived in Venice a few hours earlier than we did, but we were there 2 years ago so it was fine for us. We didn't really do many of the excursions from the boat (we made our own separate plans which works out great if you know where to go) but did hear some mixed reactions. My guess that is always the case with these kinds of trips. Overall, the highlight of the trip was the incredible level of service provided by the staff. We were made to feel like VIPs wherever we went. We are an easy and fun group and you can see that the staff really enjoyed interacting with us. There is no doubt at some point we will be back! This was our first cruise ever and we wanted to go “first cabin” all the way. We had a superior room on the 9th floor next to the Grand suite (so the front of the ship, up high- Very nice!) I was advised by my AMEX Platunum Travel expert that Silversea cruises were among the best. I chose a Silversea Cruise as the Muse ship was only a year old and advertised as an “Ultra” Luxury Cruise.” The cruise ship was gorgeous but the food was AWEFUL and the other guests we spoke to thought the same. The first night we ate at the grill and were served prawns that were freezer burnt. It was bad! They brought out an exchange but they were the same. Smushy and disgusting! The cruise check in went smoothly and receptionist, Maria, was outstanding as was our Butler, Catalino. We felt SPOILED! Honestly, the big issue is the preparation of the food and a lack of QUALIFIED CHEFS/COOKS are evident. At Kaiseki (this is tepanyaki style) they half cooked and pre-cooked the Lobster and fish and then over cooked it upon serving it. The WORST FOOD EVER (probably have to overcook in order to kill the bacteria that it accumulated sitting around.) Fortunately, we managed not to starve, being ultra selective of what we chose to eat. The swimming pool was too small and was SO salty and I felt disgusted because so many children swam in the pool and it seemed as though they used the pool as a toilet. You have to rinse off right in plain sight in front of everyone (clear glass shower right next to the pool.) So if you’re a little body conscious you’ll never use it. I only used the pool once and that was a disappointment! I honestly think that luxury cruises should only be for adults. Overall, the cruise experience was good as I had an amazing travel partner and we enjoye the ship and excursions immensely. Read Less

Dining experience was excellent in Atlantide, la dame and la terraza. Head sommelier is knowledgeable. All other restaurants were good. Indochine still had a lot of room to improve. Entertainment and activities were ok. services were excellent from butler to restaurants . Every one were very polite and helpful. Spa is below my expectation. They had a whole page of questions for me to fill in before the massage. Very professional health questions. But not the case while during the massage. For the excursions team, I did not feel that I was in a luxury cruise while talking with them. The attitude they talked with me and handled my problem made me feel uncomfortable and mad. That had ruined my days at the cruise. I came to relax, but not to have the excursion staffs to give me stress. No more detail that I wanted to mention about them. All other staffs were excellent. My wife and I along with another couple just completed our 3rd Silversea cruise on the Muse and we all think it was the best so far! Our previous cruises have been on the Spirit which was a beautiful ship as well but the Muse was definitely a step up. What made our voyage on the Muse so special was the service the crew provided. The crew acted like they were proud of the product and happy to be on the best boat in the med. From the top down the crew made the trip. For example: We showed up at La Terrazza after the mid cruise menu change and noticed one of the dishes with a delicious sauce was gone. Antonio Mendez, the restaurant manager, explained that the prep for the sauce would take some time and to let him know when we would return to La Terrazza. A few nights later when we returned Antonio had the sauce made and served the dish as an added course to our party of 6. Nice touch! The maître d's at La Terrazza, Milo and Mattel knew that we only wanted to sit outside and every night they had a table waiting for us with a breeze and a view. When we wanted to add 2 to our party of 4 outside my wife called La Terrazza and got "no problem you know we will always accommodate you". They looked after us like we were regulars at a neighborhood bistro. There were so many great people on the crew it's hard to mention them all but I have to mention the ones that made our voyage a solid 10. Mark and the staff at the bar on 5 provided great service. Mark would always walk our drinks to dinner for us. Jorge, Alex, and Inna were the servers on 9 and took care of us every night. Emiliano, Delia, and Marilyn in the casino kept us entertained and quenched. We even ran into Emiliano on land in Sicily where he greeted us with a big hello and offered some tips about his native land. Emmon at Atlantide was such a fantastic waiter we ate there a second night and requested him as a server. Yoanne at La Dame made sure we had a perfect experience. Bruno and the guys on the pool deck kept the beverages and food flowing. Daniel in the boutique was very helpful and had a perfect demeanor for the position. As you can see we formed personal relationships with this easy going and helpful crew. They knew why they were there and were happy to serve and even happier to see us enjoying ourselves. Every request we made was met with YES and that's what you want out of a luxury product! The muse is modern, spacious, and offers so many comfortable places to hang out morning, noon, and night. Some of the spots we liked were the arts café on deck 8 that has a barista making great coffee one cup at a time. During the days at sea we opted for the sunbeds on 11. The ship is so spacious there were beds and chairs available all day. At night the place to be was the panorama lounge on 9, until you are ready for the casino of course. The venue is an indoor outdoor club with a DJ inside and plenty of lounge like seating outside for conversation and fresh air. The back deck on 10 with double cabana loungers and a hot tub was the perfect place for an afternoon nap and a sail away. Our cabin, which was the same set up as the Spirit, was huge and had everything we needed including Rommel the best butler at sea. He was always there for us like a personal assistant. He would make or cancel reservations, clean your sunglasses if you left them out, or our favorite perk, bring your breakfast at a precise time and set it up on your balcony. What a wake up call! When we did our after cruise land portion we missed Rommel and our 365 square feet of living space. Most hotel rooms in Europe are considerably smaller at about 250 square feet. Dinning this year on the Muse was outrageous. The service as explained already carried right through every dinning experience. The new venues that have replaced the large open seating restaurant that is on the Spirit is a nice change. The new spaces are modern with sleek bars and not unlike what you would find in any cosmopolitan setting. There was more caviar and lobster (both Maine and Caribbean), on this ship than the previous 2 cruises we have taken. If you were torn between the lobster and the lamb no problem the servers can bring you a custom made surf and turf. If you liked a salad you had at one of the other restaurants, no problem they would have it made for you. The service at dinner was so good we almost couldn't believe it was happening. We felt like the 4 of us had a $750 dinner every night and that's how you want to feel on a luxury cruise at this price point. The ports that are visited by Silversea are unusual and mostly only accessible on a ship this size. In fact most of the ports we visited we were the only ship in port that day. The ports we visited were not over run with tourists. In fact our stop in Santa Maria De Lucca ( the heel of the boot) was the first time a cruise ship had ever stopped there. The mayor even came out for a special ceremony. Unfortunately we missed the ceremony because we took a 15 minute cab ride out to one of the most beautiful beaches we had ever seen. Powdery sand, crystal clear water, local 5 star lunch, and we were literally the only Americans there. We all felt lucky to have been there! Only Silversea can transport you to such amazing places while providing luxury service. Overall we loved our cruise and can't wait to join Silverseas again! Read Less

We had a great experience on this ship last year and were very excited to be back but unfortunately something has changed. The ship is as beautiful as ever and very comfortable but the level of service was not as good and the food was generally quite poor. We loved Atlantide and because the others were not very good tended to eat there all the time which became quite boring. Indochine and terrazzo were the worst. Breakfast on the deck was chaos with up to 20 minute waits for coffee. There seemed to be far less staff and so expect waits for drinks especially at panarama. There were a lot of young children who were allowed to do whatever at the pool including using the jacuzzi which the rules said was not allowed. We didn’t enjoy the entertainment but this was not a problem for us. Likewise we didn’t do any excursions as we were happy to do our own thing and they are ridiculously expensive. Our butler however was very good. This year they gave us free internet, ours worked but most people complained about it. Read Less

We heard that Silversea was a top notch ship and it definitely met our expectations. We have taken other cruise lines in the past and felt that we were 'nickel and dimed' and this was not the case with Silversea. We chose an itinerary that went from Rome to Barcelona and was port intensive because we like to cover the most territory we can while on a cruise. The stateroom is well laid out with a walk in closet and plenty of storage. Dining venues were all fantastic and we never had a problem getting a reservation. Navigating the ship was extremely easy as there was always someone around to ask directions. Embarkation and port visits were extremely smooth and we never had to wait in a line with only 600 passengers on the ship. The ship sponsored shore excursions were wonderful and a good value for the price, and the shore orientation seminars were excellent. Read Less

*Warning Do not book Silver Suite Cabin 932*. This suite is located directly under the only pool bar and the bar storage and dish washing operations. They start up at 8 am and end at 11:30 PM and you hear clanking banging, door slamming, things that are dropped and basically every noise from a very busy bar and back bar reverberate through suite 932. This is the only suite on the ship that is effected by a very busy operation directly above your suite and you will be very unhappy if you book this suite. We complained within one hour of moving in about the constant noise in our expensive suite and after a few days the cruise line gave us a $3,000 credit if we booked a new cruise. Appreciate the offer from them but Silversea really needs to disclose this suite defect to all future people who will be unfortunately booked into this suite. Its not cool to charge an expensive suite rate and then get the worst cabin on the ship. After a few days on board Silversea admitted this cabin was a real problem with noise. Two hours after moving into the suite I went online and Googled Silver Muse suite 932 and to my horror I saw the previous review by some passenger who had the same experience that we did. Note to self, always Google search the cabin you are assigned to. We could have avoided this unpleasant situation if we did. Having said all the bad things about cabin 932, I must say that everything else on the cruise was excellent. The ship is new, the food is amazing and the staff was all very nice. These things helped but it did not overcome the fact that my wife and I would leave our suite before we wanted to and were hesitant to come back to our suite until after 11:30 PM and when you were in the room it was very aggravating. Very unfortunate and frustrating experience when you book an expensive suite and are on a nice Med cruise with your family. The purpose of my review is to hopefully get the word out that the Silver Muse is a great ship but NEVER EVER book suite 932..... Read Less

Had a great time on prior Silver Muse of Eastern Mediterranean, Rome to Venice and wanted to experience the Western portion, Athens to Barcelona. The excursions were well thought out, had excellent guides and were well rated as to difficulty. All needs were supplied by and excellent staff. Traveling as a couple, we met many others who became friends. Entertainment was varied and professional. Food was outstanding. The small numbers contribute to a more personal experience. Definitely more focused on mature adults, although the children that we saw and interacted with appeared to have a good time. The scope of their trips can appeal to all interests. We are looking forward to our next cruise, to the Antarctica and also have scheduled other future trips with Silver Sea. Will hopefully see no negative impact with their association with the Royal Caribbean Line. This is our favorite cruise line and we will continue to travel with them in the future. Read Less

We liked the itinerary. We liked that the ship was new.The breakfasts were good but with no "assigned" waiters it was chaotic on sea days. Lunches--were excellent. Dinners were "OK". We ate dinner at 2 restaurants that didn't require reservations but like La Terrazza (Italian) best although pitifully refrigerated. The decor as just "OK"--you can't please everyone's personal taste. We used your hand sanitizers each time--but sadly my husband caught a cold anyway from someone--and I caught it from him..a few days after disembarking.Ultimately it had bad consequences for our return trip which was delayed 10 hours--then an 11 hr fight etc..(Sadly I ended up in the ER upon returning--and had to cancel many plans)."Bad luck". Anita was very helpful with disembarking...because there are ridiculously limited with cabs. Our favorite guide was in Rhodes-- excellent--but we were caught in a bad downpour (the guide said rain was forcasted)! We were given clear rain ponchos--but umbrellas would've been better. We bought one eventually. My favorite day was in Capri but way too short as we discovered the last boats leaving were already booked! The room was well thought out and felt actually "roomy". Our butler was very nice and attentive. But again your air-conditioning was a problem in the room (didn't go above a certain temp to warm it) and especially after escaping from the chilly hallways . Liked the itinerary and found the ports in Greece to be very disappointing. restaurants on board the ship disappointing overall food very disappointing cold food and poor options. Our Butler service was poor. Virtually no entertainment on board. The Ports in Greece were very disappointing to us. Disembarkation was the worst I have ever experienced. 2+ hours to disembark a ship of this size. For the cost of this sailing we could have helicoptered between our favorite golf courses in Ireland/Scotland. Rented a luxury home in Napa Valley for a month. Will not ever rely on Silversea quality again. We could not have been more disappointed overall. The quality of beverages we could order was crazy poor. The Pizza restaurant could not make a crispy pizza no matter how many times I sent one back. I asked for Don Juan Tequila they could not get any?? I feel like the breakfast buffet was the worst of all. Read Less

The ship is new and is beautiful! But we have been on many other ocean and river cruises and, aside from the ship, the price point is not justified. We did not see our butler until we called him to the room and hardly saw him after that. While some meals were outstanding, in general the cuisine was not any better than what we have experienced on Uniworld and Tauck river cruises at far lower price points. We found the experience at The Grill restaurant to be underwhelming. The cuisine and service in the main restaurant was at times great and at other times poor. The best experiences were at the breakfast and lunch buffets. The onboard experience was also a bit lacking. There was only one show nighty, usually at 10 PM, which is a bit late when the morning tours start at 8 AM. The performances were less than impressive. We all took tours at each of the stops and found that more than half of them were not that good; especially for the price points charged for each of them. Read Less

We were on the Silver Muse last year, Monte Carlo to Lisbon & enjoyed the Cruise, so thought we’d book again and we liked the itinerary to the Greek Isles. We did visit interesting ports, we especially liked Spetses & Hydra, 2 of the smaller ports. A lot of the larger ports were very crowded, as there were other Cruise ships docked. Santorini was extremely crowded & it was pretty inefficient getting down in the cable car to the the Fira port where the tenders left from. We waited in line over an hour. Ephesus was remarkable & one of the highlights. My BIGGEST beef w Silver Sea on this Cruise was that less than 48 hours before we were to fly to Venice, our travel agent was notified that we had been moved from the Grande Bretagne which we had booked & paid for months in advance, a five star hotel to the St. George Lycabettus which I would rate as a three star hotel after staying there. It’s really beat up & needs a lot of work. We had to go to her office on Saturday before we left on Sunday to pick up a new Cruise ticket. Even she didn’t know why they did this, but in my opinion we should get a refund for the difference in the 2 Hotels. And we realized we were the only people from the Cruise this happened to, although the Silver Sea rep told our travel agent differently. Silver Sea should have guaranteed our reservation, & I hold them responsible. And it’s why I wouldn’t trust them in the future. It’s too bad as it was a good Cruise & all the staff were courteous & very accommodating & the ship itself is lovely. On the whole the food was quite good, although I wish they’d change the eve menus more frequently, & I think the wine selections that you are offered could be improved. I was disappointed to learn that Silver Sea has been sold to Royal Caribbean. I think it will loose some of its charm. Read Less

We selected Silversea based on a previous cruise, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed in this cruise. Silversea had sold nearly one-third of the ship to an insurance company as an incentive award for successful insurance agents and brokers. As we were leaving Venice, we went to the Panorama lounge on the stern for a view of the city only to find that the lounge had been reserved for a private reception of this large group. Either this group didn't understand the dress code or didn't care. On formal night, there were people in the theater in shorts. People were in jeans in the evening and one night a man was going up stairs in jogging shorts with no shirt. This group was much younger than the normal demographic of Silversea and it completely changed the ambiance on the ship. Rather that experiencing the luxury and elegance of Silversea, the ambiance was much more like Norwegian Cruise Line. Because members of this group ate together (which is to be expected) restaurants at lunch were often too crowded to get a table. Furthermore, large groups at dinner tended be loud as people shouted down the table to talk to friends. The more wine they drank, the louder they got. People who wanted to use the pool found it almost impossible as large groups would take over the pool, again creating a loud environment that made it difficult to read and relax, None of this is a reflection on the ship, service or staff of the Silver Muse. The ship is beautiful, the wine selection is fantastic and the food is delicious. Our only complaint about the food is that the menu didn't change frequently enough. In fact, La Terazza, our favorite, didn't change the menu for the entire 10 days. On our previous cruise, the menu changed every 3 days. La Dame was solidly booked during the entire cruise and it was impossible to get a reservation. We took two shore excursions and found both of them lacking, so we cancelled the rest of the tours we had booked and we arranged our own. We found this much more enjoyable and a much better value. We will book again on Silversea but we will find out first if there is a large group on the ship. If Silversea continues this practice of selling to large groups, we will seek another luxury cruise line. And, of course, we are watching closely to see what will happen as a result of the Royal Caribbean aquisition. Read Less

Having cruised with other lines before this was our first trip with Silversea’s. The ship has a very modern hotel feel to it , nothing that makes you go WOW tho . Bland staircases nothing that stands out as being opulent it’s very good but that’s it . Some of the service around the ship is very average for this kind of trip you can’t come back and say it’s fantastic because it’s simply not . The entertainment was pathetic , one good night throughout the whole trip is not enough . The Dress code NO- ONE adheres to it , why bother having one ? On the Captains night no more than 10% were in Dinner jackets , it made you feel out of place to be in one . Only 50% of people ever wore jackets for dinner . The whole experience is very average . We certainly didn’t come away thinking let’s re book with them , more like who should we try now . I think that says it all Read Less

I did a lot of research about various cruise lines and looked at several different itineraries before choosing Silversea and the Silver Muse. I hit a home run! The ship was beautiful and clean, the cabin was spacious, the crew were top rate and professional. There were about 600 people on board, but it never felt cramped. With several different dining rooms and multiple sitting areas, there was plenty of room to have privacy, but also plenty of opportunities to mingle with other guests. We enjoyed meeting and talking to people from many different countries. The food was quite good in all restaurants with lots of variety. The service was superb. The ports were all places I'd return except for Sarande, Albania. The Amalfi Coast was fabulous, as were Sicily and the 2 stops in Croatia. I wish we had spent more time in Split and its surrounding islands. Highly recommended! Read Less

We chose this particular cruise due to the fabulous starting and stopping points: Rome and Venice. Staying 2 extra nights in Rome before and 1 extra night in Venice after the cruise really enhanced our experience, and the hotels where we stayed associated with Silversea provided great access to the sights of those cities. We want to particularly commend the Silversea staff in Rome, who were so very helpful when we had a situation requiring issuing a new passport. Without their help, we might not have been able to even go on our cruise. The ship staff's main goal seemed to be ensuring we enjoyed our cruise. From Mario the maitre d' at La Terraza, to Jimmy the Cruise Director, to Christy and Katarina the International Hostesses; all wanted to make sure we were having a good time. Sumit our butler was especially attentive when my wife wasn't feeling well and helped her make her stay more comfortable. The Voices of Silversea were not only very talented, they were also outgoing and friendly. We appreciated the number of options for dining, from casual poolside to upscale. All the food was exquisitely prepared and delicious. One drawback was our inability to get a reservation at Silver Note. It would be helpful to inform guests to make reservations well before the departure date for the restaurants that fill up quickly. Dubrovnik was definitely our favorite port on the cruise, being so picturesque and impressive. We took a Game of Thrones tour not available from Silversea, and feel this option should be made available as their are likely fans of the show who take this cruise. We did take excursions to Pompeii, Olympia and Diocletian's Palace in Split. All of the tour guides were very knowledgable and responsible in ensuring the group stayed together. Read Less

Our friends chose this cruise and, based on reputation of the line, we decided to accompany them. The ship was lovely and kept immaculately clean. The service, without exception, was exceptionally professional and friendly. The first cruise, in our opinion, lacked enrichment talks which would have added a lot. The second cruise included talks which were appreciated. The only down side was the food. It seemed to be hap-hazard and disappointing in its total lack of local cuisine. We ate ashore 13 times to sample the local fare. It seemed unfair that reservations were required except in the main dining room . We didn't know this on the first cruise so had little variety. Also, not knowing beforehand which nights were formal, we found ourselves at an informal restaurant in formal dress. The Indochine restaurant seemed to be under-utilized as once was enough for many. It was fascinating to visit Albania, Croatia, and Montenegro. We were ill-informed about them before the cruise and it was delightful to visit them. They were highlights. Overall, we thought the cruise was lovely and would recommend it to our friends. Read Less
