We cruised on the brand new Opal on her third cruise. We selected Scenic because their Rhine/Mosel cruise is 14 nights and includes several ports other lines do not. Another reason was everything is included -- all tips, drinks, shore excursions with multiple excursion choices offered in each port. The ship is gorgeous and incredibly "high tech." Most of the shore excursions were outstanding including ones to Zollverein coal mines, the Delta Water Works, the Arnheim Airborne Museum, and shopping with the chef. Scenic included several special events -- a cocktail reception and concert in the beautiful Rastatt Palace, cocktails at the Ehrenbretstein Fortress in Koblenz, and dinner at a choice of local restaurants near Veere. These were outstanding. The service from our butler and cabin attendant was super. The service in the lounge and dinning room, not so great. Food was a disappointment. Breakfast and lunch were buffets. The breakfast was the same every morning. We learned half way through the cruise you could ask the waiter what the breakfast special was (one example French toast). Problem was getting the attention of a waiter. While lunch on other lines were buffets, I do remember alternative cooked to order options. The only really great lunch was the "asparagus" lunch. Dinners in the dining room were boring. A choice of two appetizers, two soups, three mains, and two desserts. The meat always seemed to be overcooked roast, pot roast types, or stews. Definitely not high end food! Service was uneven. Portobello, the fine dining restaurant by reservation had excellent, innovative Italian food with good service. The ship also offered light breakfasts -- rolls and fruit and lunch--premade sandwiches, pastries, and pizza in the River Café section of the lounge. These were good. Fortunately the ship spent lots of time in the ports, so we often chose to eat at restaurants on shore. The uneven service might have been because this was only the third cruise. Included alcoholic beverages and wines were good. The ship made an effort with entertainment -- often bringing onboard local groups. Would I travel with Scenic cruises again? Absolutely. All my expectations were met except for the food and service in the dining room. I would just expect a four star experience with three star food. Read Less

Can not fault anything on this cruise and the staff were fantastic. Lovely to be on holiday and understand everyone as the main tourists are Australian, Kiwis, American, Canadian and British. The average age is about 65-70 but this did not bother us as everyone so friendly and we were by far the youngest. We had a balcony suite which was sufficient - all toiletries included and everything in your mini bar - plus refilled every day. The ship was only three weeks old and has a well thought out layout. There is even a little dipping pool on the top deck which was 40oc when I got in but very pleasant. A lot of the other scenic boats do not have one. The dress code - quite casual. Nobody got really dressed up for dinner. Food - good selection but they will also make whatever you want. Drink - all free-husband made full use of it!!! On board there are electric bikes - these are put on shore when docked for you to use-great fun and worth a shot-free to use. Our scenic rep Gary who stays on board was full of fun and information - he organises all your trips, entertainment, deals with any problems etc. There was only one hick-up he had to deal with-in each cabin there are two commentary electric guides for your tour information-these kept loosing signal but when we left the ship they were getting all check out and reprogrammed. Would definitely recommend:) Read Less

3 years ago we did Budapest to Amsterdam and enjoyed, this year we did the reverse and would recommend doing our first option. The hotel and cruise director great. The Opal is a new ship and very nice. The only fault we had was at the buffet, breakfast and lunch, the food was not hot or warm. The meat was still red and we would have preferred it to be At least pink when cooked. Leaving from Amsterdam, we felt that the excursions were rushed as it was afternoons and the ship had to sail. This is our personal opinion. The trip was fantastic all in all. Read Less

Brand new ship, the Scenic Opal did not fail to impress. Small ship (123m long by 11.5m wide) we found it very comfortable, crew were very friendly and accommodating and food was very good, especially the evening at Portobello's (restricted to 1 reservation per cruise unless availability permits extra sitting). The dining room food was varied, portions perfect in size (4 course dinner) and well presented, as you could expect in any high end restaurant. Or you could choose a simple steak or burger & fries if that's what you felt like. Entertainment on board was varied and interesting. Local artisans came on board while we were in port and showed us there craft/skill whether it was glass blowing, musicians playing a local instrument or local dancers. On land tours were very informative, guides were interesting or you could do a 'guide yourself' tour so you weren't restricted to a group tour. Overall, an excellent cruise. Read Less

We travelled from Budapest to Nuremberg!! as 2 couples and chose Scenic because we had been told it was the best. The ship was changed a few days prior to travelling because of the water levels being low on the Danube. Apart from one stop our cabins, 212 and 214, looked directly into the cabins of other boats which were docked alongside us. This meant the balcony was completely non functional and also we had no privacy making showering in the evening very difficult. The cabins were in darkness the majority of the time because of this. The food was, to say the least, below average. We dined on fillet steak and chips when we were looking forward to fine dining each evening. The only decent meal we had was on the one night that we were allowed to dine at Portobellos. That was delicious. The tours were very well organised and well orchestrated. We felt that everything was geared towards the Americans and Australians on board. No breakfast after 8.30am and dinner was7.00pm latest. One night it was 5.00 pm. The cabins were excellent, comfortable beds, spotlessly clean and well equipped. The "butler" was conspicuous by his absence. The only public areas were the restaurant and the lounge so there was nowhere to go to get away from the "entertainment " provided. After returning from our tour of Salzburg we were informed that the boat could go no further as the river levels were too low so the excursions were altered accordingly. Overall, we were very disappointed. It is not a cheap holiday and we felt that we did not get value for money. Read Less

This was our first cruise of any description, so we decided on a week. We joined the ship at Budapest but because of low water in the Danube we had to move upstream, so didn't get to see anything a Budapest apart from an evening cruise downstream before turning round - although we did see what had inspired us - the Parliament Building - we were moored directly opposite. We stopped for two days in Vienna and explored there, but then we only got as far upstream as Passau, again because of low water levels. The ship, captain and crew could not be faulted. Our cabin was perfectly adequate, kept clean by our cabin steward, and morning tea served by our butler - luxury! A large walk=in shower with plenty of hot water. The amenities on board were plentiful, a good sized lounge/bar area which, I would think, could seat all the passengers at one go. The food was very good, always a nice selection on the buffet, or you could choose from the a la carte if there wasn't anything you fancied - which we did a couple of times. The passengers were mainly Canadian, Australian, American and a few English people, all very nice and pleasant. A variety of entertain was enjoyed in the lounge in the evenings - local dancers, etc. All in all we enjoyed our cruise, it was just a pity we didn't get up to Nuremberg as originally planned, but we were at the mercy of the water - no rain in Germany! When we were in Prague as an add on to our river cruise we received a note in our door that the first 3 days the ship would be operating out of Passau (a 3.5 hour bus ride away) and that the excursions would be bus tours from there to Nuremberg (2.5+hours) and Regensburg (1.5+hours) each way. Also the boat was now the Opal rather than the Jasper. We were not aware of this either. We were very unhappy as were all the fellow cruisers to whom we spoke. One of the joys of river cruising is, supposedly (as we never found out) sitting and watching the world go by. Instead we were stuck at a dock in a small cabin with a useless sunroom and with another boat rafted beside us. Therefore we had no light, no view, no air and no privacy. We then sailed to Komoron which is 2 hours outside of Budapest and has absolutely nothing to do or see. I would rather they had changed the itinerary to include cruising to some other part of the river rather than sit in port. Or, as other river cruise lines did, transfer us to boats in major ports on our itinerary and at least cut down on the hours of driving on a bus that smelled like urine. For the entire week we cruised during the day approximately 6 hours. The rest of the time the boat sailed at night or we remained rafted in our little dungeon. It would have been nice to at least use the hot tub but it was out of commission for all but the first day. Then there is the food. Definitely not five star in my opinion. Over cooked pork, raw chicken, soggy seafood and beef, overcooked vegetables, cornstarch filled soups with no flavour or substance, dried bread, cheap wines and very little flavour for everything. The seafood buffet held at one lunch time was all that I believe was satisfactory, although as mention the soup was tasteless except for the flavour of cornstarch. The cruise was run like a cheap bus tour. No sit down breakfast after 830, short lunch and dinner whenever the buses got back. The beer and wines were okay but not 5 star as were the drinks. No caesars to be found. The entertainment was limited and very disappointing. The cruise director and staff were not helpful when trying to book alternate excursions such as the hop on hop off bus. It stopped right outside the boat in Vienna but we didn't figure that our until we followed their recommendations to take a taxi into Vienna to book it. Which we did. Then found that the itinerary included a dock side stop right in front of our boat. We brought the brochures (from the booth outside of the ship at the bus stop) to the staff for further reference. As mentioned, included excursions required usually over 2 hours of bus time each way. The sundowner (happy hour) excursion included cheap white wine, no red wine or beer and a long walk from the bus(which was not mentioned) We had no problem with this but many of the other cruisers did. Also the night of so called elegance for a classical music concert at a palace in Vienna involved a long bus ride and then a long walk through the city on cobblestones so those that made the mistake of wearing the recommended "elegant wear". The so called self guided town and river devices did not work at times and they were very cumbersome. Also be aware that they asked us to leave the ear phones so they could be recycled (they were only cheap plastic for one ear). The overall lack of respect from the cruise director and the constant misinformation or lack of any information was disappointing to say the least. None of us on the cruise, that I am aware, had any prior information related to the changes. Also there appeared to be no attempt on behalf of Scenic to alter excursions or practice to improve the experience. We did not start the cruise where we were promised. We did not finish the cruise where promised. We do not believe we received 5 star service. However we believe that we had the most expensive 1 star bus tour to be had. Read Less

I recently took the Scenic Opal on the Danube to Budapest. Although not a fault of Scenic, the river level was very low and limited the ship to only one day and a couple of nights of sailing. We were bused into Budapest from Komaron. However the reason I am compelled to write this review has nothing to do with the river. It has everything to do with Scenic and their awful customer service. Not once did any of the staff even apologize for the unfortunate situation and how the customers would now have to be bused several hours each day to the various land excursions. They were rushed and acted like THEY were being put out by the situation. The food quality and varieties were awful and the "special" dining options for the Portebello and La Rieve dining was disappointing to be generous. The entertainment was virtually non-existent and the views from the balconies was nothing more than other ship parked a foot outside your window. To call this a luxury cruise is completely false and I would not recommend Scenic to anyone seeking a river cruise. There are other options and to pay a premium for what is below average at best makes this a terrible value. The true test is the follow up by Scenic. After you leave the ship, they could care less about how they performed. This speaks volumes about their appreciation of the customers. Do not take Scenic. Read Less

We recently took a Scenic Danube cruise, the water levels on the Danube were low as the industry states, the operators and travel agents don't want to discuss your river cruise could end up as a bus tour, an expensive bus tour. We spent about 20 hours on buses which shortened our visits to each city. We only had one day on the river cruising the rest was spent on buses. Scenic was a long way from a luxury cruise. The best part of the cruise were the local tour guides. FOOD The food was certainly not 5 star, it was buffet average food. BUS DRIVERS The bus drivers were rude, mind you with all the extra driving it would have been tough taking passengers on long day tours then driving to the next port. VIEWS When at port boats are tied together so keep your drapes closed. They concert we looked forward to at Palais Lichtenstein however it was switched to another venue at the last minute. I guess if we were given any of this information we would have chosen not to take a $1,500 a day river cruise on Scenic. Buyer Beware!! Worst 7 day vacation of my life. Thank you Scenic, I will never travel or recommend you to anyone. Read Less

We booked this cruise with a number Navy Supply Corps Officer who had cruised on a different line in 2014. We cruised from Amsterdam to Basel and it was our first river cruise having done more than 30 ocean cruises primarily on Celebrity. Our experience on the Opal from the time we boarded until they dropped us off at the hotel in Zurich could NOT have been any better. We ere treated royally by everyone whether it was onboard the ship or on one of their all inclusive shore excursions. We saw all of the ship's officers more than once a day and Milan, our butler could not have been any more helpful or attentive Goran (First Officer) and Patrick.(Cruise Director) were everywhere and along with the Captain handled the luggage getting us off of the ship. We got a tour of the galley and I have no idea how Walter (the head chef) and his crew could turn out the great variety and quality of meals they served. The ship itself had plenty of space and our cabin had lots of room. We loved the up-down window that allowed us to view the passing scenery with an open or enclosed balcony at the push of a button. The lounge and dining room had plenty of seating and great staffs and top side had plenty of seating and a hot tub. There is also an exercise room that I used daily and my wife took advantage of some very friendly and expert salon services that were vry reasonably priced. I would take a Scenic cruise any chance I got and most especially on the Opal as it is hard to imagine a better crew on any ship. Read Less

We were on a special charter by the US Navy Supply Corp Officers. It was our first time on Scenic. I was disappointed in the service. it seemed as if they were short staffed and the dining room service was very slow and sometimes just plain poor. The staff was not well trained in serving, on the wines or on keeping in touch with the tables to make sure you were given what you needed. Many times had to go get coffee from the machines in the lounge on the next deck because the wait staff never asked if we wanted any. The buffets for lunch were very repetitious - there seemed to be very little variety. The dinners were just OK except for the specialty dinner in Portobello restaurant. This was Italian cuisine and it was excellent. There was also an 8 course special dinner for people in suites and it was quite nice but not to my taste because I am particular about certain foods. They had the habit of pushing the wine selection of the ship and not on the wine list that was available. Read Less

The ship was beautiful and the crew very attentive and gracious. Our cabin was very nice with comfortable beds and an ample bathroom. The food was very good. A great selection of entrees at every meal, plus places where you could get food, coffee, tea, etc. at any time. The off ship tours were interesting for the most part with knowledgeable guides. The crew accommodated our request for a cook out and did an outstanding job. Great bratwurst! The best part of the cruise was the staff. From the Captain to the Cruise Director to the Hotel Manager to every one of the cabin crew and wait staff. They all tried their best to make the cruise a memorable experience. No request was too small for them to jump on. Our butler Milan was a standout. We would definitely do a river cruise with Scenic again. Read Less

But, it was the staff that made this trip so memorable, fun, and amazing. It was like being at summer camp with a very enthusiastic counselors! They remembered names and preferences. They were engaging and fun. We spend time in both Amsterdam and Zurich, before and after the cruise. We enjoyed our time in both these cities. Embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly. Such a good impression of Scenic Cruise lines. Our cabin was lovely. It was nice to unpack and then cruise from city to city. We loved the window that rolled down to the railing. Several days we were able to sit in our room and get fresh air off of the Rhine River. Our butler, Milan, was helpful and very sensitive to our wishes. The food was great. (We enjoyed the chef's tour of the kitchen!) We loved all of the options. Especially the seafood! The all-inclusive aspect of the cruise was very important to us. We enjoyed all of the shore excursions and took advantage of tours every day. Getting the port talk the night before was helpful and lots of fun! Read Less

Food and bar service outstanding. Cruise Director, Patrick, was super as were all of the crew. Particularly like their Scenic Free Choice tours and the opportunity to wander off on your own with their GPS headset system...found it particularly great while transiting the Rhine and. getting great info on the historical sights on either side of the ship. Every one of our local tour guides was well informed and entertaining. Liked not having to tip guide and bus driver...definitely a plus! Really appreciate all inclusive tour...hate signing chits for everything and having to pay for "extra" tours. Mini bar in cabin was always kept stocked. Had a small party in our cabin and the butler arranged for champagne and hors d'oeuvres. Will definitely pay the little extra to sail with Scenic again! Read Less

After seeing this cruise promoted on Getaway TV program we liked the route. Also we thought we were going to be getting food at a level we are used to on Seabourn and Silversea cruises. Unfortunately the food was the major let down. warm to cool for whole cruise even though many people complained. Answer was to get the plates hot. Also first nights buffet was worse than you can get in ordinary pubs in Melbourne. Food was all the same taste, slow cooked meat, very insipid. People that had cruised late last year on the sister ship to this were the first to complain as they said it was well below what they had had before. It was only the second cruise the boat had ever done with a new crew and only a week to get it sorted. Staff were nice and tried hard but lack of English did not help. How you translate White Russian cocktail into glass of Champagne on two nights running i don't know. Also if you ordered any variation to the menu i.e. leave something off plate that seemed almost impossible to comprehend. Also the layout of tables in the dinning room was ridiculous. So cramped waiters could not get past without bashing the back of your chair all the time. And in the case of the buffets you got bashed from everyone keeping getting up to get food. This is terrible especially as these cruises are aimed at the aged and on that basis lots of people with reduced mobility. Also the seating in the lounge was much the same, interior designer gone mad. One poor lady did fall on her face trying to manoeuvre through a maze of chairs and tables of all different types. On board entertainer was like a wet fish. Should have just played muisac through the speakers, would have been just as good. Sound system was awful and he obviously had no clue how to work it. Crew entertainment and crew disco night was best fun. They seemed to be able to get the sound right. Also there were quite a few people on board who had had cruise dates cancelled due to late delivery of boat and so were already a bit angry with Scenics response to all their replanning. Think this is possibly a case of a company expanding too fast and not able to keep a handle on their quality. Only river cruise we had ever done was with Avalon and the food quality was far higher than Scenic provided. Cant say i could recommend scenic and won't bother to pay this sort of money again. My travel agent recommended Scenic because it was all-inclusive (no signing your way through the cruise!), excursions were covered, ships are new, etc. We went with her professional opinion and were not disappointed at all! The service was second to none. I looked forward to Patrik delivering my morning coffee with a smile. Stefan in the Opal Lounge was very attentive - always taking good care of us. The food was outstanding. We also took a tour of the galley - spotless. We particularly liked the personal touches and the wonderful fellow passengers. We made some great friends and hope to do this again soon. Although the weather was less than pleasant, Scenic and their amazing team made up for the lack of sunshine. They were hospitable, accommodating, entertaining and personable. Without hesitation, I would recommend Scenic be everyone's first choice for European River cruising. Read Less

This was our first river cruise after numerous ocean cruises. I was very pleased with our choice of itinerary (Rhine Highlights) and with Scenic Cruises. The Opal is a lovely ship, and I would highly recommend it. Our cruise was during a very high (as in flood stage) waters on the Rhine and Scenic emailed us two days before the cruise telling us of a change in embarkation port and the various options available for a complimentary transfer. It was a long day but we arrived at the ship just fine. River cruises have their own set of challenges with water levels that ocean cruises do not. You have to be flexible and "go with the flow" and hope your line reacts favorably, which the Scenic captain did! We enjoyed the ship very much, the public areas are very well designed and very functional. The upstairs outside deck was lovely but other than the walking area and the lovely large hot tub it could not be used all that much due to less than desirable weather. Our cabin was a standard cabin with a window, we decided not to spend the extra $$ on a balcony and had no second thoughts. The room was small, but adequate storage, a wonderfully comfortable bed, nice bathroom and great interactive TV. The staff on the ship all were exceptional and very helpful. Food is subjective, we absolutely loved the breakfast and lunch buffets. A great variety of foods, nicely presented and very tasty. You can also order off a menu, which we did not do as the items on the buffet were so good. Dinner features several choices of daily features plus an "always available" selection of entrees and salads. Some of the daily items were unusual but most were quite good. All alcoholic beverages are included at Scenic, and we enjoyed some great drinks during the day and with meals! We also loved the tours. The variety was good, the tour guides were excellent and they used very comfortable motorcoaches. The two special evening events, one a private opera concert at a castle and another atop a mountain overlooking Koblenz with a German band, beer and pretzels were very memorable events. Transfers provided by Scenic were also handled flawlessly. Evening entertainment featured some local performers and one night was a fun disco night with the crew and captain. We also very much enjoyed interacting with the other guests who were from a variety of countries in the world, all of whom seemed to be enjoying themselves as much as we did. In summary, I would not hesitate to book another river cruise and would definitely use Scenic again! Read Less

We chose Scenic as our preferred cruise option on the recommendation of some friends who had completed a cruise last year. Apart from having to wait in the hotel in Amsterdam for a few hours (could not get out due to the weather) the embarkation went very well. With the cruise ship Scenic Opal being only 12 months old the facilities were first class and the service provided was excellent. Our stateroom was very good and the service provided by our butler and cabin attendant was of the highest quality. The dining on the cruise ship was excellent with the provision of "fine dining" quality food and beverages. Apart from one item, the entertainment provided on board was excellent, especially the "crew shows". Shore excursions were very good and as this was our first time in Europe, we managed to see places we had never been to before. The only issue we had was that due to very high water levels, we were unable to cruise the Moselle River. However we must commend our cruise director for his efforts in organising coach excursions to various parts of the Moselle river area. Cruise ship staff travelled on the coaches with us to ensure the excursions guides were on hand and that we were well looked after. Our disembarkation was well organised and our cruise director went out of his way to make sure we got to our hotel in Zurich as soon as possible. Read Less

we chose this cruise because we had already done Amsterdam to Budapest (twice) plus a few of Scenics other river cruises and wanted to see something different, different it was. We spent a pre night in Zurich at the Schweizerhof Hotel a very nice hotel, from here we taken by coach the following day to Basel to board the ship, as usual the meet and great was great with a cool drink and a rose for the ladies. If you cobblestone streets and beautiful old towns you'll love this tour, Colmar, Cochem, Maastrict, Antwerp and of course who doesn't love Rudesheim and the famous coffee. Of course there were many other places that name escape me. There also many excursions offered all included in the price, including Luxemberg, Heidelburg also Airborne Museum which is dedicated to the Battle of Arnhem in 1944, I had never heard of this battle so found it so very informative. The crew aboard the Scenic Opal were fabulous nothing was to much trouble, the food was near perfect thanks to Chef Walter, Cruise Director Patrik who did a wonderful job, always on hand if you needed to speak to him and his Port Talks which we had every night were a great way of letting us all know what was happening the next day. The cabin was really very nice, bathroom was larger than normal of other cruise ships. Pillows and mattress on the bed was very comfortable. The Butler service was very handy. I think you can't go wrong in choosing any of Scenic's River Cruises. Read Less

My friend and I wanted at least 10 nights onboard, and the dates had to fit in with her work commitments. We also wanted a better than standard cabin. Scenic's Rhine and Moselle fitted our criteria, and we had heard good reports from friends who travelled with them. The Scenic Opal is less than 2 years old. It is a really beautifully appointed and laid out ship. Our cabin (203) was classed as a Junior Balcony Suite and was well worth the extra money - great layout, spacious, plenty of hanging and storage space (2 women travelling together !), fantastic bathroom with a decent sized shower. Our personal butler Patrick was wonderful - nothing was too much trouble. Indeed all of the staff were excellent, always on hand, would do anything asked of them with a smile on their face, and always enquiring that everything was ok. The cuisine was first class. All of the activities we did we thoroughly enjoyed, and best of all they were all included so there was never any worry about getting in, or the cost. It was great to have electric bikes available so you could go for a little ride around if you wanted to do your own thing. In fact doing your own thing when you felt like it was so easy - our Cruise Director, Patrick, was always available for advice, provision of maps and local knowledge, suggestions and encouragement. And when we returned, he was waiting at the head of the gangplank to see if we'd had a good time. All alcoholic beverages were included (Moet champagne for breakfast !), and one of the unexpected highlights was sitting on the sundeck of our ship one evening while docked in Maastricht and being able to listen to the Andre Rieu concert taking place outdoors in the town square, while sipping an after dinner drink and watching the sunset. There were several ports that I really knew nothing about prior to the trip - but I enjoyed each and every one of them, sometimes just walking around and soaking up the local scene, having a coffee or an icecream, going to the local market. Wonderful. This is not a cruise for children, or those that want lots of nightlife and entertainment. Our pianist, Tim, was excellent, and you could sit with new friends, listen to familiar songs and music, and enjoy a drink - all that I wanted. Would I go again ? In a heartbeat, and definitely with Scenic. Read Less

We chose this particular cruise because of the destination - Rhine and Moselle Rivers. The length of the cruise was also what we wanted. Scenic is Australian owned. We heard good reports from people who have previously cruised with Scenic. We liked the idea that it was all inclusive. We thought the on board service and meals were first class. The Portobello night was excellent as was the La Rive dining. Nothing was too much trouble for the crew. The variety of excursions was excellent. The cabins were spacious and the ship itself was kept spotless at all times. Our Cruise Director, Patrik, was exceptional as were his organisational skills. He kept us informed at all times and his information sessions were very useful. The e-bikes are a great concept and made cycling easy. We feel the free WIFI needs to be improved and the on board entertainment needs more variety. Read Less

We just returned from a 7 day Rhine River Cruise on Scenic Opal for our 30th anniversary. This was our first river cruise and one of the newer ships in the fleet. I have nothing but positive feedback for our experience. We arrived a few days early in Amsterdam and spent a few days exploring on our own. Day of embarkation, we arrived at the boat a bit early but were welcomed on board, processed in and taken to our rooms right away. It's a beautiful ship and the rooms (deluxe balcony) were luxurious and plenty of storage and room for everything. We loved the balcony where you could open the patio window. Every meal was top notch and everything was included, (mini bar, wine, champagne, beer, excursions, everything). The staff was outstanding, and always friendly and helpful. It was truly relaxing to sit up top and watch the villages and castles go by. We did an excursion most everyday, and the organization of these and the local guides were all very good. There was time at most stops to be on your own to walk around of ride bikes also. Read Less
