We wanted this cruise to visit a part of Europe not yet seen. Scenic offered such an all inclusive cruise choice we felt it was the one to try. The itinerary to was great.,we saw so many beautiful castles and half timber towns it was amazing. Our cabin was well appointed and we love our sunroom balcony which was lovely to sit on,warm and cozy as we floated along. The rest of the cabin was well planned and had lots of storage for both of us. Food was excellent. So varied and well prepared. Especially considering the petit galley they were working from. Wine selection as well offered all of our friends their particular favourites. The staff on the ship was well trained and attentive. Things asked for would appear in short order always with a smile . We had lots of fun with several staff who had fun senses of humour and we looked forward to seeing during our days. Shore excursions were also nclud d and offered many choice see as we moved along. My husband and fri nds especiaal enjoy d their bike ride on the electric bikes. Entertaining intervals were a glimps of the local talent Germany has in abundance. We enjoyed several evenings as well as a couple of afternoons in the lovely lounge. I hope I haven't missed anything. I did save the best for last. Our cruise director Richard Grey was without a doubt the most outstanding part of our trip. He was not only the most organized fellow ,but the most entertaining. He made our cruise the best time ever. Read Less

A friend we were traveling with found Scenic and we just took his recommendation. The ship was excellent and the crew were superb. The only disappointment was our butler, who did very little and for the the odd time that we asked for something he still didn't come through. Otherwise, the entire experience was excellent. The shore excursions were very well organized and we were very pleased that all the gratuities were included. The motor-assisted bicycles were also a great amenity. We used two of them on one occasion and thoroughly enjoyed them. They were also very easy to learn to use. The meals were outstanding and the chef took great pride in his craft. The selection of wines was mediocre but sufficient. The bar selection was likewise very good and the bar staff carried the torch for service excellence. Overall, we had good value for our money and will likely cruise with Scenic again. Read Less

We experienced our first river cruise two years ago on a 7 day Scenic River Cruise 0n the Danube. We enjoyed it so much that we decided to go on another 7 day excursion Scenic river cruise on the Rhine, and this time with a few family members. The service and the attention to details was exceptional. Everything was included in the price of the cruise. Food was exquisite and all you could eat. Ports and shore excursions were planned to the T with no issues. There was local entertainment every evening in the bar area which was enjoyable. Also included was an evening out to a concert just for the cruise members in Strasbourg, France. The ship was easy to get around and the sun deck was great for gathering and enjoying the scenery when cruising. There is an elevator for access to all decks except for the sun deck. Plan to do another Scenic river cruise in the future. Read Less

This was our first river cruise. We spent 2 days in Amsterdam, which we thoroughly enjoyed, before connecting with the river cruise. Our cabin was excellent (junior balcony) and was spacious for a cabin, especially the bathroom. The lounge and dining room were beautiful, and because the weather was so nice, we spent quite a bit of time on deck. Our crew could not have better and the food and entertainment were wonderful. If I am permitted, I would especially like to thank three staff who stood out: Costi, who looked after the dining room, Margaret who served our drinks, and of course Kurt, the cruise director. We especially enjoyed the excursions. Our only regret was that we wish we could have had more free time to explore the places on our own after the guided tour, but we realize that schedules could not allow this. The cruise exceeded our expectations, and we will definitely do it again. While this was our first river cruise, so I have nothing to compare, we felt we were totally looked after from the time we left our home to when we returned. I also very much appreciate that this cruise was totally all inclusive. Read Less

We had lots to celebrate this year and decided to do our "bucket-list" trip . . . a European river cruise. Scenic was recommended to us by our travel agent. We went into the trip with high expectations, and I can honestly say that all our expectations were exceeded! The ship was beautiful. Being only two years old, it was shiny new and pretty. The staff in every area were all top-notch (cruise director Kurt was exceptional); the food and beverages were excellent; every excursion was fantastic! We enjoyed every single minute of the cruise. It was well-organized, relaxed, and a lot of fun. Scenic paid attention to every detail and we felt really well looked-after. The transfers were smooth and seamless. Embarkation and Disembarkation were organized and pleasant. The guides on all of our excursions were very knowledgeable and very passionate about their city. The pace of the excursions was perfect. Entertainment was varied and very enjoyable.Fellow travellers were all very friendly. One of the highlights for us was cruising down the Rhine gorge on a beautiful sunny, warm afternoon and seeing mile after mile of castles, vineyards, and churches. We felt like we were in a storybook! Read Less

We were interested in learning about Holland, Germany and Switzerland and discovering what a river cruise was like -- the best and most relaxing of all the cruises we have taken! Our meals were fantastic, breakfast, lunch and dinner. We enjoyed having dinner entertainment. Margaret and Gigi looked after us with our favourite alcoholic drinks during our meals and on the sundeck as well as the lounge. Costin, the head of food service, always made sure that our meals were what we expected and were always available. Kurt, the cruise director, was fantastic and did a super job of making sure everything was going smoothly and made Harley laugh like crazy during the "German class" and as a result, Harley has signed up for conversational German to start Sept. 18! The tour guides for the canals of Amsterdam and the bus tour were exceptional. The tour guide in Koblenz was knowledgeable and showed us the best of the city with his love of the city and his flair for writing, he made the city come alive. The Mechanical Music Instrument Museum was fascinating and the ride up the side of the mountain on the cable car gave us an overall view of the vineyards as we reached the Niederwald monument at the top. We have no words to describe the experience at the Baroque Palace, complete with drinks and hors d'oeuvres before the classical concert - we were overwhelmed with the beauty of the room and the wonderful performances of the two opera singers and the piano accompaniment. The visit to the Black Forest area was somewhat of a disappointment but Schnapps and the Black Forest Cake made up for it! We found going through the locks fascinating and we were very impressed when our cruise got delayed by a mishap in a lock but we admired the way Kurt managed to rebook everyone at the right times on each bus so that we could catch our flight out of Basel airport. This was our first cruise with Scenic. Their arrangements before, during and after the cruise were excellent. Everything which was under their immediate control worked superbly - Scenic cannot be blamed for the fact that there issues with the locks on the Strasburg to Basle section. The Scenic Opal is a beautifull well appointed ship, the food is very good and the service even better.Cabins are reasonably spacious and certainly way better than just adequate. The organised trips were extremely well guided with knowledgeable local guides who were well versed in their subjects and, because they were obviously experienced, made their guides both informative and entertaining. Talking of entertaining, the varied programme of evening entertainment in the ship's lounge was really good. In fairness, it is not a cruise which is suitable for children - it is definitely tailored for adults but even those who were more advanced in years than others coped with the tours very well. Not a cheap cruise but, as Scenic advertise, EVERYTHING is included - no surcharges for anything! Would have no hesitation in going with Scenic again. Read Less

Had a great time with them. Definitely would use Scenic again. It was a experience of a lifetime. The scenery was amazing. Tours where great. Having everything set up for you with a daily schedule was great. Having an all inclusive cruise is the best way to go. Get you eat and drink as much as you want with everything included. Only had to have money to do shopping while on shore. All tour guides were great and very knowledgeable and entertaining. I highly recommend going on a Scenic cruise. You will not regret it. This trip was recommended by our travel agent as it fit into a meeting that I attended in Basel. All aspects of the trip were delightful - it was busy however with daily excursions. We were blessed with good weather for most of the trip. The staff and especially the cruise director made the trip fantastic. The ship captain and crew lended to feeling of security and safety. The fellow travelers were for the most part compatible and easy to make friends. There were ample opportunities for excursions and often two or three choices at each port. There was a large bicycling group aboard that had their own agenda and apparently had a very nice experience. Three gourmet meals a day, including lamb chops for breakfast. The separate dinners were enjoyable, and the dining crew made us feel as family. There were no children on the ship and this was most appreciated in that river boats are not large and capable of entertaining youth! Read Less

New experience having never done a river cruise before. The Rhine was lovely and everything about the ship was wonderful. The only thing I didn't like was getting up reasonably early every morning to go on a trip. Having said that we did see a lot of lovely places. All the crew were excellent and very friendly. The on- shore trips were well organised and everything went to time. The special private concert we went to see was a new experience and most enjoyable. Would like to have seen a few more of the passengers making more of an effort to dress up a little more formal for such a special event. Our flight to Basel was only slightly delayed and because it was an afternoon departure from Bristol we only just made the ship in time before it left at 17.00hrs so maybe an earlier flight would have been better. We did not see anything of Basal. Read Less

We just returned from a one week cruise on the Scenic Opal. Overall, we had a wonderful time, with a few disappointments. We were told that they would only pick us up at the Zurich Airport, so we stayed there overnight and arrived at the designated meeting spot at 11:45 as directed only to be told that we would not depart for Basel until 2:00. When we arrived at the ship, the welcome lunch was long over. I suppose we could have ordered room service, but we were not fully aware of what was offered, and no attempts were made to serve us lunch. To be truly honest, there is always some type of light food available in the bar area, and often the pastries there are far superior to those offered in the dining room. Our room was small, as expected, but very nicely laid out. The bathroom was modern, and everything worked effortlessly. My only complaint was that that there were two sliding doors, one for each closet, but one had to be fully closed before opening the other one. This caused all kinds of confusion as my husband and I tried to get dressed at the same time in the small room. Other than that, the room was very nice and the bed was very comfortable. Scenic’s unique sliding glass balcony worked very well and gave us an unobstructed view of the surrounding countryside. Our cabin stewardess was wonderful. We rarely saw her, but our room was always made up quickly twice a day. We saw our “butler” the very first day, but then only saw him tending the bar, working in Portobello, etc, leaving him little time to do anything for us. Some people seemed to have been able to order room service for breakfast, but there were no forms left in our room. The food was one of the lower points of the cruise. Breakfast and lunch were very good, but dinner often left something to be desired. Waiters rarely encouraged you to order breakfast or lunch from the elaborate menu placed on each table. Our “special” dinner at Portobello, was just terrible, watery minestrone, oddly flavored mushroom soup with foam, horrible “osso buco” and polenta, marginal tiramisu. It is very easy to cook excellent Italian food, but if you can’t, please leave it off the menu. The cannelloni was also terrible, and was offered more than once as a vegetarian alternative on the main dinner menu. I also felt that the pastry selections, of which there was usually only one at dinner, could have been a little more imaginative. A horrid rhubarb tart was offered as the only dessert on the final night. The other three choices were usually some sort of ice cream, a cheese plate or a fruit plate, that usually included too much apple and unripe melon and few berries of any sort. I was extremely disappointed with the dinner selection and quality on the Scenic Opal, although all of the staff were friendly and accommodating. Tours were well organized with excellent local guides, but I wish they didn’t all start at or before 9:00AM or earlier, causing a rush to eat breakfast and leave the ship. There was nothing offered in the afternoon, even though we often remained in port. I have to agree with a previous reviewer who said that the seats on the sundeck were so uncomfortable, it was almost impossible to spend much time up there. Kurt, the activities coordinator was wonderful, very accessible and organized everything beautifully, right down to our departures, which were well planned to the minute. We even had someone meet us at the airport to help with checking in. All in all, we had a very nice time. I just wish that there were afternoon tours offered and that the food in the dining room at dinner would have been better. Read Less

Loved my trip on the Rhine highlights tour... from beginning to end...we had such a good time and were sad to leave at the end of the week on board the Opal. The staff were superb, food and drinks plentiful, itinerary good, only critisim would be the early starts for the trips. The trips were informative and well conducted. The staff were fantastic and had an excellent rapore with their guests. The cruise director a great tonic and a real character with his matching shoes and ties. The captain of the ship was approachable and encouraged people to visit him on deck. The deck was pretty and the hot tub fabulous. The electric bikes and hand held devices were both an additional bonus to the trip. I would have no hesitation in recommending this cruise to any fellow travellers. One of the best experiences ever. Chose this cruise because of its top reviews and attention to detail. From the moment we were picked up at Amsterdam airport, Scenic took care of everything. The cabin, food, cruise director, Richard, and the entire staff went above and beyond to make sure we were constantly taken care of. The chef was very friendly, experienced and a great chef. He provided several options at every meal, and made sure we had a taste of every region we visited. The bar staff went above and beyond to make sure there was always a drink available. We can't compliment the staff enough, from the housekeepers to the skipper. Adding the four extra days in Switzerland was definately the highlight of the trip. First class hotels, tours and meals were excellent. All tours and activities were thorough and there was time everyday to have on your own. This was our 3rd trip on Scenic and we will continue to stay with them as the service is impeccable and the inclusive theme is wonderful. The food is varied with something for every taste & great wine selections as we traveled down the river. All of the excursions were well thought out and as they are early in the day you get to miss the rush of tourists and then spend the rest of the day either floating down the river or exploring a town on your own (using the tailor made device that gives you information about where you are). The cruise director kept it lively and all activities went on without a hitch- including the first and last days. If you want a vacation the takes you away, mixes you with interesting travelers in a small number, I would definitely recommend river cruising in general and this company's fleet in particular. Most of us chose to give additional tips to those who really went out of their way to enhance our experience, The staff was wonderful! Cruise director Richard was delightful and engaging. Our butler, Alex, was wonderful and anticipated our every wish. The shore excursions were top rate. The destinations were beautiful and historic. Food and beverage were excellent and the service was also terrific! I highly recommend doing this cruise with friends. Embarkation was SO easy. Chose this river cruise on Rhine River per a suggestion from a family member. This was our first river cruise, after being on several ocean cruises, outstanding experience over larger ships. Boat is limited to 80 cabins (160 customers) which allowed for more personal service to your want and needs. Tailoring to more experienced travelers. Cabins were very spacious and comfortable, enclosed balconies with full glasses view of river with ability to power down upper half of window to enjoy river. Having this extra balcony enclosure gave cabin more room even in poor weather. Meals and food was outstanding all of which were healthy choices. I would recommend Scenic river cruises to anyone who is looking for a relaxing vacation. I was not impressed with special commication devise "TailorMade", not only was it large & heavy it was very unreliable! Batteries would not hold a charge, not easy to use, which caused us to miss most of information of sites along the river. It was designed to work off GPS and beep when ship came up on a site to tell You about history, great idea but failed to beep. You could always scroll though list of sites, but then we had to rely on map to figure out where you were to seek out information. Suggest looking for modern technology, smaller in size, no bigger than cell phone, to hang on neck all day during land tours. I would have agree with another review, the sun deck furniture was uncomfortable to sit in for any length of time. Since there was little bar service provided on sun deck, we were forced to run back and forth to bar on 3rd floor. The few times we did see a bar service personnel on sun deck, they would not always ask if you wanted a drink. Bar service was slow at all times, only one bar on ship and at most two bartenders at any given time. Bartenders seemed overwhelmed and at times you could feel their frustration when you walked up. The staff were amazing but cruise director should have given us 7 day detailed iteniary right from get go. Trips started at 9 am so no hope of a holiday sleep in. They said it was to avoid crowds but the towns were empty even at lunch time. Very badly organised and wouldn't cruise with scenic again. As you can tell...food very very very BAD! I had better food at a old pub. Other than that, really nice. Staff really tried to please everyone. Tour guides were also very good and very knowlediable. Butlers are very concerned to make every need you have for filled. Great vacation but the food was practically unediable. Scenic should've done a better job of vetting their chefs because so many passengers were complaining about the food . Even though there was only 1 kid. We sailed on the Romantic Rhine and Moselle. We flew into Amsterdam and there was a Scenic transport person awaiting our arrival as we exited customs. They whisked us away to our hotel, Hilton Double Tree. The hotel was very clean and its location made it easy to step out the door and explore Amsterdam. We only stayed one night and the next morning we had a very delicious complementary breakfast. We checked our luggage with the Scenic representative in the lobby and they would transfer it to the ship. We went out for a mid-morning stroll. They boat is docked very close to the hotel. If you didn't want to take motor transportation it is a very short walk. So that is what we did. We boarded the boat around 12:00 noon. We were greeted and escorted into the Opal Lounge and then into the front of the ship's restaurant River Cafe. We had a light lunch and the cruise director, Richard Grey, was making his rounds greeting everyone. He was very friendly and very organized. The clients aboard this vessel mostly 60 and older. A few younger passengers were aboard and one teenager Richard did a great job making sure everyone knew what the physical ability levels were needed at each port. In my experience, every port was flat and easy to walk. As all over Europe, most sidewalks are streets are, as Richard said, cobblie, cobblie, cobblie. Most days they offered a gentle stroller group that took things a bit slower as to cater to guest who needed more time. All tours were well organized, interesting and the guides and coaches were great!!! Most tours only took a couple of hours then you had some free time to visit a pub or shop. We did both! Every evening before dinner, they would give a port talk to discuss the next days adventures. Always informative and brief. Dinner was open seating which was great...however, food taste...not so great, well actually awful. The dinner would start off with a choice of three appetizers, which was two bites. Then a choice of two soups one was always a no flavor consumme and the other a cream soup. The a choice of three entrees, usually a pasta selection, fish selection, meat selection. The portions were so tiny. One evening I ordered the lamb. It was three slices that were about .5 cm high by 7 cm long and NO TASTE. It was accompanied by a spear of potato and 2 florets of broccoli and 1 floret of cauliflower. Every night my husband ordered the always available steak and the entree of the day. Some evenings he would order all three entrees. Believe it or not, the desserts were even worse. They seem to be mass produced in a factory somewhere and frozen and thawed. Horrible! The regular chef was on vacation and we had a replacement, so maybe that is why it was so bad...who knows? The waiters were either great or aweful. We moved around until we found one who knew what was going on. Most night dinner lasted 2.5 hours. Waiting up to 30 plus minutes some evenings between courses. Ridiculous! The lounge staff was great always ready to get you a drink. The entertainment was okay. I think they need to have some type of entertainment every night. Kind of boring on nights they don't have acts coming aboard. Overall we liked it a lot. However, I think my opinion would be different if we were not traveling with other people. We kept ourselves entertained. The public spaces were clean and new. There was an outbreak of sickness on our cruise and in my opinion, it wasn't handled correctly. It spread throughout the boat and about 80% of the people became ill with a terrible cough. That was the downside, the upside is the ports of call were fabulous and the locks were interesting. I would recommend it, but I would say, travel in a group because it is a little boring at nighttime. Read Less

15 Days of Unabated Luxury Why Chose Scenic? My wife and I booked the 15-day “Romantic Rhine & Moselle” cruise with Scenic departing Amsterdam for Basle (Switzerland), leaving the UK on 19th July 2017, which coincided with my 70th birthday. We have enjoyed more than 40 ocean cruises, including: Regent, Seaborne, Silversea, Hebridean International and Sea Dream. This was our first taste of River Cruising. We chose Scenic because we wanted an all-inclusive luxury cruise on the Rhine and Moselle rivers. The reviews and UTube videos on Scenic were just excellent - and we wanted to avoid the stress of air travel in favour of rail. We were not disappointed. From Home to Scenic Opal & Return. We were collected by car (operated by Trident) from our home and driven to the Renaissance Hotel St Pancras, where we had booked an overnight stay in one of their “Chamber” suites. This offer, (not booked through Scenic) included a VIP transfer to our Eurostar Coach with fast track through immigration and security without having to lift a bag. A change of trains at Brussels on a Thalys train to Schiphol (with food and drinks!) was straightforward and were met by a local Scenic driver on arrival for a quick transfer to Scenic Opal. The next time we saw our bags was in our (BA) Balcony Suite. We received a very warm welcome and were shown to our suite following a welcome glass of bubbly. Our Butler, Gabriel, introduced himself and showed us around out suite and explained the room facilities. The return journey was equally painless with just a change of station from Gare de Lyon to Gare du Nord Eurostar and home by limousine from St Pancras. All very painless. The Staff, Bar and Meals. Our housekeeping lady was Milanka from Serbia who gave us outstanding service throughout the cruise. All the crew were from Europe, mainly the Former Yugoslavia with some from Poland, Hungary and Portugal. Only 8 crew were “Nautical Crew” with the remaining 50 or so being hotel staff. Bar service was excellent with a large variety of cocktails available in the extensive bar menu. Bar service was swift, friendly and attentive. The food on board was varied and could not have been better with 14 chefs operating in such a small kitchen/galley. Service in the main restaurant, River Cafe and Portobello’s was swift and friendly for all meals. Breakfast and lunch mainly comprised a huge buffet selection with some options provided from the kitchen. The Captain and Chief Engineer both provided briefings during the cruise. Entertainment & Tours. All the briefings and entertainment were organized and introduced by Richard, the Cruise Director with the following day’s programme being briefed the previous evening. Because of hearing difficulties, we chose not to use the “Tailor Made” GPS devices, which were made available to all guests. Every lunchtime and throughout the evening music was provided by Antonio who has a great voice, large repertoire and plays the piano and guitar. In addition, several other excellent entertainment acts we brought onboard, including a disco, classical trio, musical show time group and fantastic bell-ringers. All the tours we took advantage of were very well organized and included some of the very best guides we have experienced. The tour of Koblenz was outstanding and included a cable car ride to a hilltop fortress followed by German accordion and singing with wine and refreshments. We voted Richard the very best Cruise Director we have seen. Onboard Facilities. If you want to remain on the ship then the vitality pool (heated to body temperature and with bubbles) is excellent with lots of sun deck space available if you want to sit and relax and watch the other vessels pass by. Coffee, tea, ice creams and snacks are available throughout the day together with a full bar and room service. There is also a small library onboard. Conclusion. We tried very hard to find fault with Scenic; we failed. This was the best holiday we have enjoyed for many years. We are about to book with Scenic for another river cruise next year. Read Less

Although this is a beautiful ship with a generally terrific crew, we cannot recommend Scenic. The Rhine/Moselle itinerary is interesting and the excursions offered were adequate although we often chose to tour independently to avoid the rather lengthy bus trips. The Cruise Director, Richard Grey, was generally excellent, but he was somewhat handicapped by the continually changing arrival and departure times dictated by lock schedules and river traffic. There were about 144 passengers (not quite full capacity), and the ship's main lounge and dining room often felt very crowded. Cabins are cleverly designed in order to make up for the tight space and were comfortable. We were in Suite 201, a Junior Deluxe Balcony Suite, which is one of the larger suites and still small. Butler service is provided and was well performed by an enthusiastic staff. Everything was kept spotlessly clean. One of our suitcases was misplaced on embarkation due to improper labeling by the crew. We advise putting your own cabin number on your tags. The bar staff is very young, enthusiastic, and totally incapable of mixing standard cocktails. Pre-port lectures by the Cruise Director every evening before dinner were informative, but the overcrowding in the dining room directly afterwards caused the restaurant staff to be severely stressed. Even though there is open seating, tables for four were not always easily located and no Maitre'D was available to help. After dinner entertainment was minimal, but not unexpected for a river cruise. Now for the food, which was largely inedible! Thin, watery soups, insipid salad dressings, awfully prepared meat dishes, baked potatoes that were hard as a rock...I could go on and on. There are buffets for breakfast and lunch, which did not change much from day-to-day. The same stale bagels, watery scrambled eggs etc. kept appearing. Very good made-to-order omelet station is available. Lunch could be scary, with mystery meat and gloppy dishes put out. Dinner was no better. Steak, chicken and salmon was always available as an alternative and was atrocious. Desserts were not much better. Think Army mess hall quality (or lack there of). Bottom line is that this food will not please American tastes. The ship's passenger contingent was largely Australian, with others from the UK, New Zealand and Canada. Some appeared to really enjoy the heavy meat and potato offerings as they were seen going back for more. Curiously, the Table la Rive, Portobello and Captain's Dinner tables did have edible offerings. If they were able to produce those results, why not for the standard meals in the Crystal Dining room? We are disappointed in the value and quality that Scenic offers. If you are looking for luxury and good value, you will not find it here! Read Less

We have done a number of sea cruises but this was our first river cruise. We wanted a 5* all inclusive cruise and that is what we got. The staff were amazing and Richard, the cruise director was the best cruise director we have ever had. The ship was relatively small compared to the ocean going vessels but adequate. The gym had a great treadmill although overall it lacked a variety of equipment (I only wanted a treadmill so I was just fine). The food was usually excellent with one or two minor exceptions. The variety of eating venues for a ship of this size was excellent. On-board and onshore entertainment was super although we lost our resident pianist half way through the cruise (due to sickness) and he was not replaced (a minus there). Cabins were kitted out with some marvellous technology (including a great automatic guide machine) although I would have appreciated at least another 5m2 of space. The balcony with its' "up and down, electronically controlled window" was brilliant. Overall I would definitely cruise with Scenic again but I might also look at other 5* lines. Read Less

Firstly, the Romantic Rhine Mosel cruise is about the scenery, and we were not disappointed. The Scenic Opal is a well appointed ship, with staff that are attentive to any request. My wife's gluten free requirements, such as bread service and varied pasta alternatives was efficient and was varied with all meals. Occasionally, her bread service was already at the table when we arrived. Portobellos option is one to book for sure. Upscale food and wine selection will impress. Good job. The availability of different types of seating options in the lounge, hard/soft and or couch/chair provides a good alternative for any seating need. The availability of a public 24 hr coffee maker, for up to 6 different coffee choices is a plus. Varied tea selection will also satisfy most needs. The choice of available excursions, is varied and will satisfy the needs of most seasoned travellers. It is great they are all included and no additional charges apply. This was a special 10th Wedding Anniversary cruise, so we purchased the most expensive Royal Panorama Suite, #336. We were hoping for the best experience of our lives. I would have rated my experience 5 stars if this cabin was deserving. See cabin review below. Read Less

We chose this because it was sailing on the Moselle, one of the few rivers we hadn't yet sailed on-we've taken many river cruises. we had been told that Scenic were good and so wanted to see for ourselves. it was a well-priced cruise.. The ship was always beautifully clean, the staff were all excellent and attentive, and food was generally of a good standard.. The on board pianist was the best we've experienced- he had a great singing voice, engaged well with the customers, and also played guitar. Most of the excursions were really good, with excellent local guides. We appreciated the fact that it was truly all-inclusive, with a wide range of drinks on offer at all times, including champagne, and a variety of gins and single malt whiskies. Gratuities had been built into the cruise price. The cruise director was excellent, and dealt well with any issues. The one disappointment was having to take buses to the places on the Moselle because of lock maintenance. This made for some long journeys. Read Less

Although a late deal, this holiday was chosen to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary year. Embarcation went smoothly though we had to wait a short while for our cabin to be ready. The food was superb, plenty of choice from fish and vegetables for a non- meat eater. The waiters looked after our every need courteously and with good humour as did the bar staff. The entertainments provided were very good, mostly featuring younger, very talented entertainers, though we did not see all of them. I was happy with the excursions and choices provided apart from the problems right at the start of the cruise caused by a damaged lock at Antwerp and lock maintenance on the Moselle. Otherwise everything else was as planned and worked well. The Cruise Director's enthusiasm and commitment was boundless. The staff on board gave every appearance of being a happy, professional team. This was for us a quality holiday which had the added bonuses of being truly "all inclusive " with all tipping included in the initial cost which saved a lot of hassle at the end of the cruise. We may do another River Cruise in the future to a different destination. Read Less
