We were looking for a family friendly 4 day cruise and we found it! First time on Carnival Crew was very very nice My cabin was clean all the time Orlando our cruise director was a delite! Loved the dining was pretty good always a vegetarian selection Our kids enjoyed the kid activities such town animals, arcade, kids club - (although this was disorganized and s small fight broke out with several 10 years old in the kids club) yikes! Guys burger bar and taco bar by the pool was great! The winner for us was Alchemy Bar which mixed delicious martinis! Don’t miss this bar! Photo ops were everywhere so that was also a plus! Perfect amount of time on the cruise- Tiny bit sea sick due to boat going so slow- The Stufio VIP show on the last night was hysterical! Go to the comedy shows too If you a party this is your cruise! We appreciate Carnival Inspiration Crew for making our first family cruise a wonderful and memorable experience. Our steward Bernard was friendly and we appreciate his hardwork. We dined every night and it was a great experience for my two boys (8 years and 6 years-old) to try and enjoy a variety of foods. We thank the people who served us and we appreciate their hard work. We also enjoyed the dining entertainment- your crew can definitely dance! My boys also enjoyed the breakfast with Dr. Seuss and the family comedy shows. We will for sure cruise with Carnival again. Our excursion in Ensenada- La Bufadora was really great. Belen was our tour guide and was very knowledgeable and welcoming. I am glad that I booked our excursion through Carnival. Our day at Catalina Island was also fantastic. We enjoyed riding around with the golf cart. We appreciate that your price is fair and deliver and provide us a priceless experience!!! Since I live near the Port of Long Beach, the terminal is only about a 15-20 minute drive. Plus, the price was right for a four night cruise. I had never cruised with Carnival before and wanted to give it a shot. Having cruised with Disney, I didn't come in with the highest of expectations. The ship is older (one of the oldest in Carnival's fleet) and it shows. The main entertainment venue is a lounge--style theater instead of the more-modern broadway style. There are no speciality restaurants (this is made up for with upcharge options at dinner and chef's table). The ship is showing its age, but Carnival has appeared to have kept it in ship shape during dry docks. Hopefully the next one will bring some new life. I was in an upper/lower birth cabin. Having this does give you a little more room, since the bunk leaves more space. However, I'd have preferred this configuration with a balcony or even an ocean view. Unfortunately, Inspiration's balonies are only in suites. That said, no complaint on the room. It served its purpose well and was clean. Dining on the ship was amazing. We had anytime dining. Had the same server team 3 of 4 nights. The food was amazing. The "rare finds" are worth a shot each night. There is a nice mix of poultry, pork, beef, fish, and vegeterian/vegan items. On Sea Day, I did the brunch and the filet mignon melted in my mouth. The flat iron steak from dinner came very close to melt in mouth, but was tender and well flavored. The chefs know how to cook. I also loved the desserts, especially the banana cream pie. The Lido Buffet does a new theme each day, which is nice. Plus, you can't beat a Guy Fieri burger. Main show entertainment was pretty good, but given the loung style seating, I tended to just watch from the back on deck 9. I preffered the comedy acts the most in the Punchliner. BT was a riot and I went to two of his shows. Service was amazing. Carnival has hired a great diverse crew for this ship, from crew to staff to officers and everything in between. If you want great service, I have found cruises do it best. I'd most certainly recommend this cruise and I'm eager to eventually cruise with Carnival again. They are truly the Fun Ships. Warning to those who want the upscale experience, Carnival is not for you. If you like a relaxed, casual, fun atmosphere, this is the cruise for you. Read Less

This was my first cruise and I was treated like a king. I am from Las Vegas and I see service and hospitality issues all the time. But, I have never had so many staff members treat me so well. And, I am a low profile person. I went on the cruise by myself and loved it. I didn't want to be a part of a group and so many people wanted me to join there party. I was fine and I only did about 10% of the events offered. But, I still did too many things to keep track of. I loved it so much. I have planned 2 charity cruises already and I just got off of the ship 2 weeks ago. I will be back next January, at the latest. And another cruise that I may be on is in July. You rock!!!! The food was wonderful. The customer service was top notch. The choices of activities was endless. Now that my trip is over, I wish I had taken more advantage of the excursions and activities. Thank You Roxelle and Nanagn and so many other staff members of the Carnival cruise line team. And, thank you to the entertainment staff at the Playlist productions "Studio VIP show". I was part of the show. YEAH!!!! Do you have my video??? In closing. The staff made my first time the best travel I have ever had. And that gives me new dreams and goals to attain on the next trips I plan with them. Read Less

My husband and I sailed on the Legend for our honeymoon and loved it! Being on the West Coast, our options were limited for another sailing, and having heard others complain about these 3 and 4 day "booze" cruises on an old ship, we weren't sure what to expect. But the price was amazing and we decided to give it a shot. We're very glad we did. First of all, the November dry dock on the Inspiration was noticeable. Rooms looked very updated (compared to some other reviews we've read before the dry dock). Bathrooms looked practically brand new. Food was good throughout the ship. Didn't love the menu every night, but we were generally pleased with the food in the MDR. Service was good enough, and we enjoyed not having to cook. We really went on this cruise to relax, so found it nice to have options for entertainment when needed, but also were content just sitting around reading or playing games. Enough to do for a 4 night cruise. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't very good, which is no fault of Carnival. But, I was very impressed that the captain managed to get us a few hours of sunshine. Our itinerary got moved around, and I was convinced there was no way we'd actually get to Catalina with the storm and the need for tendering, but because of the move, we had sun on our sea day, a few hours of dry on our Catalina day, and nearly a full day of sunshine in Ensenada (all while Los Angeles was getting drenched). Very pleased that they were able to do it. All in all, a great cruise. We wish it were longer. While I want to try a mega-ship, we were very pleased with the Inspiration. Read Less

Convenient cruise- easy getting form the Long Beach airport to the cruise ship- & used the shuttle as only myself traveling, but if I was with a group would have used UBER to get to & from the ship . I wanted a short itinerary, to determine if I would enjoy solo cruising. Was great being able to have cabin to self, able to do what I wanted when I wanted & how I wanted. Totally enjoyed the sauna, steam room & gym. was well taken care of by my room steward, Supron - always had a full ice container, room cleaned as necessary Did the Chef's table & was impressed by all the food that was fixed & served, Learned many interesting facts about the food, preparation & many ingredients for the many foods that was served to us. Even learned some new things about different herbs & spices to combine with different foods. In Ensenada discovered a great place to go for a massage- Massage & Facial Wellness - within walking distance of the ship- and very reasonable priced, then did a chocolate class at the Maya Cacao- learning how chocolate is made form cacao beans- Did I mention that is all organic & they use the profits to support orphanages in the area Read Less

I think the band name was moccha sound. The MC was hilarious and always helpful. Our cabin was always clean. I loved the little details with the towels and towel animals. The excursions were so fun. Fiabola and Armando from the tour bus were funny and great to talk to. They gave us great recommendations. Felt safe with the tour vus as well. Ping ball ans miniature golf was so much fun. Swimming was fun. All staff on deck was excellent. Very sweet staff. I hope to see the dame staff there when I take another carnival inspiration cruise. Normally my husband and I prefer longer cruises, but this was the first time we'd taken our kids (ages 8 and 6), and we weren't sure how they would do. So we decided a 3-day was the way to go, just to find out how they liked it. The verdict is in -- they LOVED it and are begging to go back. Embarkation was ridiculously easy. Our time slot was at noon, and we'd left the Queen Mary hotel (next door) by 11, thinking we would need time dealing with parking in the garage. We were parked 2 minutes later. Because we had almost an hour left before our time slot, I suggested that we walk over to the water and take some photos. That killed another 10 minutes, so I decided to have us just go through the "early" line, hoping that the wait wouldn't be long. Ha! We literally walked right up. We were on the ship about 5 minutes later, and were relaxing with our lunches by the pool before our time slot even opened. The waterslide area never got crowded. Nor did the pool deck. Super easy to attend shows, too. Just walk right up and get a seat. If you wanted the front row right in the center, come like 5-10 minutes early. Both my daughter and I were contestants on the Hasbro the Game Show and we won consolation prizes. Son and husband got selected as characters in "Horton Hears a Who" reenactment for the Dr. Seuss storytime. Super fun! Daughter and I won the dance contest during the kids Halloween Party in the Rock n Roll Lounge (I was voted Best Mom Dancer and she was Best Girl Dancer). Food was AMAZING, especially the cold soups. That was my attempt at introducing my kids to fancy food. They had cold soups as an appetizer along with their chicken fingers or mac n cheese. Well, you can't win 'em all, right? Husband and I enjoyed the steak and seafood entrees every night. The surf was a bit choppy on our Sea Day, and our sea kayaking got cancelled during our port in Ensenada. No worries -- we'll just have to go again next year for Fall Break! I think we'll do the 4-day this time. Read Less

I was in charge of 5 people’s vacation for the week. After finding the perfect dates and given a budget I was able to book two Verandah suites aboard this ship. Being my first time cruising and hearing others reviews of the cruise I wasn’t expecting too much. Upon arriving and making it through customs (having the Verandah rooms give you priority access through some lines, by the way) we walked through the maze of the ship to find two beautiful rooms on the top of the ship with balconies waiting for us. 2 in one room and 3 in the other. We dropped off our bags and began to explore. The boat isn’t huge, but with amenities like a spa, gym, hair salon, multiple bars, restaurants, lounges, plenty of seating there’s always something to do! There’s pizza and ice cream available 24 hours a day and if that isn’t enough to get you there’s a Blue Iguana (Mexican) and Guy’s Burger Joint right next to the main deck where everyone hangs out. The staff on our boat were incredible I’d like to highlight a few of them. These staff memebers work so hard and tirelessly. I didn’t see a single one without a smile on their face. I Made was our steward on the Verandah cabins and made our trip absolutely incredible by keeping our rooms tidy and always checking in to make sure we had everything we needed—we received complimentary cookies and water from this sweet man and his staff. At dinner we met Ferdinand and Alex who facilitated the most fun and personalized dining experiences I’ve had the pleasure of having. They danced, sang, and remembered minute details about each of the people in my party. They went above and beyond to get us all the food we wanted and even treated us to some off the menu Filipino food from the chef on our last night in the Mardi Gras dining room. Without these 3 men I know our trip would’ve been a totally different experience (if you’re dining in the Mardi Gras room ask for Ferdinand, his section fills us fast and if you have the pleasure of having him serve you, you won’t regret it!) The shows were so much fun! PARENTS BEWARE OF STUDIO VIP THOUGH! There is an unannounced strip tease at one point and though there weren’t any kids in our group I would’ve assumed that there would’ve been some sort of a warning before one of the cast members on stage had his clothes ripped off his body. (Don’t get me wrong, it was great, but parents with kids just know this is coming at some point in the show). We opted to do the taste of Mexico shore excursion in Ensenada and got so much bang for our buck! Brenda, our guide brought us through the downtown shopping area, took us to the main square with some statues and explained the history of Ensenada. We were then escorted to the venue where we met Luis, our cooking instructor who taught us to make our own salsa, guacamole, enchiladas, and tortas. With locally sourced produce and an awesome and interactive instructor you will enjoy yourself! After learning to make 4 different types of food your are escorted Up the stairs to tequila tasting. 6 different shots are poured and included in this $50 food tour and it’s absolutely worth every cent. I don’t even drink and had so much fun watching my family take these shots with the rest of the tour! Go eat all the food, workout (or get some sort of movement into your day, and just enjoy your time on the boat! Tip: don’t buy the internet, you’re on vacation—unplug for the next 4 days. There are very few times you’ll be this disconnected and it’s wonderful. Read Less

We wanted a short getaway to celebrate our 40th Anniversary. This would be our 4th cruise for 2018, having just returned in June from a 3 week Oceania Tahiti cruise. We have cruise about 50 cruises, on almost all lines. What a difference a good cruise director can make! Connor was called in to take over- this was his first cd gig. He was fresh & so fun & excited, you just had to have fun! Verses some "veterans" who do the same tired lines for many years, and it shows. This was our 3rd getaway on carnival, plus many on Princess & RCI. True, this is a party cruise with alot of drinking, but with tight security I didn't see any problems (just a loud crowd!). Probably had more drunks on NCL with the "free" beverage package. Having just been on Oceania (know for their excellent culinary program) I wasn't expecting much, but was again pleasantly surprised. Some of the meals I'd compare with Oceanina, some obviously not quite up to Oceania. However, had some bad food on Oceania also. Was very happy with the menu choices, as most days had 3-4 things I really wanted to try. Had prime rib, salmon, stuffed mushrooms, escargot, shrimp cocktails & best crab cakes ever! As ship is older not many balconies, so for a short cruise the oceanview worked fine. Think our cabin had more storage space than our balcony cabin on Oceania. Room steward was just as attentive. Cabin & bathroom was very minimal. DH big complaint was no room thermostat- had to stand on bed to turn ac vent open/closed! Although it is obvious it is an older ship with alot of hard use, the maintenance program seems to be keeping it "ship-shape". Embarkation & disembarkation was easiest of any ship we have been on. Their new terminal (opened late Jan this year) really makes you fee like you are already on vacation. Not like Miami- where you are so stressed out by the time you get to your cabin it takes a full day just to unwind. Our only port was Ensenada, which is why we went. We like the winery tour- and it was almost a private tour- only 1 other couple on the morning tour! The guide at La Cetto spoke bad English, but answered all our questions. Tasting was excellent, as always. They have cleaned up the other winery, but it has not lost its charm. What a bargain- 1/2 day tour, 2 wine tastings, food at each, & a bottle of cab to take home- for $50! . Overall, if looking for value choose Carnival! If don't want to have fun- just relax & money is no object- Oceania is fine. PS- DH has mobility issues, and Carnival was exceptional in that respect also. Whereas on Oceania, as everyone had mobility issue- it was more of a hindrance there! Read Less

This was my first time ever on a cruise, I had the BEST time! I spent a lot of time researching the cruise line and reading the reviews of the Inspiration. I have to say there are a lot of mixed reviews out there. I went into the cruise ship with an open mind and ready to have my own opinion of it. I thought it was great. It may be an older cruise ship but I didn't let that stop me from having fun. Food - We had dinner every night in the Carnival Dining Room at 6pm, it was great. The best part was our server SARI, she was WONDERFUL! All the other crew that worked her section with her were just as wonderful as well. The food was great, although the portions are small, its doesn't matter because you can order as much as you want. I wont lie, we all ordered TONS of servings, pretty much one of everything and we shared it all. They even brought my husband and I a heart shaped chocolate cake with candles that said :Happy Anniversary" for us. Guys Burgers, AH-MAZING, the deli was okay, I didn't care for it as much, wish they would add a BLT to that deli menu. We made it to the open buffet only once for breakfast on the last day, it was great. Its the dining room with the weird purple tubes, LOL We never ordered room service so I cant tell you how that was. Drinks - I had a lot of the fruity drinks, a few Cran and Vodkas, they were all great. Our bartenders in the main lobby, Wi and Gerard, were absolutely the BEST!! We have made some life long friends with those 2. They remember our number for our drinks, gave us water when we asked, we got to know them on a personal level. If you have the time while you're having a drink I highly recommend you get to know these two. They were the best! We spent a lot of time in the main lobby bar because of them! Entertainment - My husband and I went to only one show, the Love and Marriage show, it was great. It was like a a real life game show, 3 couples on stage and answering questions about one another. The cruise director NONO was GREAT!! Always involved in all the shows, the entertainment in the main lobby, we had tons of parties late at night in the main lobby. The music was great too. The Casino bar had a great band as well. Cabin - Our cabin was E239, I thought it was fine, I mean do you really spend that much time in your room anyway? The bed was COMFY! We didn't have any noise, nice size. The only thing I would have liked was if the "fake" window was maybe painted to look like an ocean view or a garden, something other then a plain curtain covering nothing... The ports were great. It was my first time at Catalina Island and Ensenada. We rented a golf cart on the island, drove around for a good 2 hrs, stopped at a little Mexican shop and had a drink and tacos. Saw deer, tons of them! In Mexico, we walked around, shopped, ate and drank and ended up at Papas' and Beers....WARNING.....if you dance they get you.....all fun....try it.... Overall my experience on the Inspiration was AMAZING! We will be back again for a longer cruise. The staff was great! Read Less

I had such a wonderful and amazing time sailing with Carnival this past weekend with my mom!! We left from the port of Long Beach and when we got there the atmosphere was already fun! Nono was an incredible cruise director. I don't know how she does it. She has to do so many shows and announcements but manages to do it with inspiration and enthusiasm. Those 70's and 80's sing-a-longs were AMAZING!!! The water slides were fun and so was the pool. I loved ordering a cocktail alongside the pool. I didn't know it was salt water but that made it all the more fun. As far as dining goes, we were at Carnavale and had the first seating. Both Alejandro and Rogelum were so accommodating and so sweet!!! It was first class service!! They even gave me free wine for my birthday and they sang very well. They were attentive and everyone really loved them!! Additionally, when we went to Ensenada La Bufadora tour. Abner was our excursion tour guide and boy was he amazing!! He was so knowledgeable and really brought out the best in Mexico. I learned so much from him. I couldn't believe he was there for only one year. He was such a professional! Also, the burgers were really, really good and so was the fried chicken. Everyone was so nice and I had SUCH a blast with the amazing entertainment. They were incredible!!! Love, Michelle Read Less

I chose this cruise because a friend wanted to celebrate his 30th birthday and that we definitely did! The ship itself is definitely tacky, but it's a cruise so I did not mind any of it at all. The pool area was TINY. I knew this from looking at pictures and the map prior, but it is tiny. The bars were great. ALL OF THEM. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE BARS I ENJOYED. For obvious reason. The main dining room was hit or miss with all entrees. The buffet was hit or miss with most things. The room service was very much a miss most of the time. However, Guy's burgers was pretty delicious. I wish I made more of an effort to eat there more often. The only show we caught was the lady comedy show. The comedian was extremely vulgar and borderline racist, but it was absolutely OKAY. My tip for this show is to let go of all of your ethnics, morals, and values for this 15-20 min skit, knowing that is all for jokes and humor. And you'll have a great time! We went to the nightclub every night and had a blast on most. Not much to say here because there usually isn't much to remember. The worst part of this trip was certain interactions with other guests. You will have your fair share of super sweet, friendly guests, but we encountered a handful of guests who were indeed out of line. Granted they were most definitely inebriated but that does not give anyone the right to treat other people the way they treated some of my friends. I would go into specifics but for the privacy of my friends, I will not. Overall, I had a great time. I came back on a Monday. It is currently the Tuesday right after, and I am still tired. For a 4 day cruise this was fun. We are in our 50-60s . Took our 18 year old grandson and his friend. Catalina was nice, rented a golf cart and saw the island, snorkled on our own. decided not to get off at ensenada, had fun playing different trivia games. The food was really good, we did pay extra for the surf and turf and also attended the Chefs Table, which always is exceptional . Went on the Behind the Fun, they really dont promote very well, but really enjoyed seeing the ship from the workers eyes. Especially seeing the bridge and meeting the Captain. Shows were mediocre, Connor the cruise director was the best, just like the energizing bunny. Mijon our waiter in the main dining room was great. Gambled and won, not to bad with the smoke, people are considerate. Smoked cigars and had champagne on the top deck and had a blast with the music pumping. All in all for a short trip it was good. We are all seasoned cruisers and for the price it is a good deal. Positive attitude also helps :) oh and get the Fast pass, breezed through embarkation. Read Less

My husband and I have done this itinerary with Carnival before and decided to do it again. We just love cruising and love Carnival. Everything is easy going, fun, and relaxing. Ship: easy to get around, we really enjoy the water slides (even though we are adults with no kids!), food and drinks are available everywhere. The 1st day the pool was out of service, and it was actually REALLY hot, so we were kinda disappointed (especially since we purchased the faster to the fun and got on early). BUT it wasn't that big of a deal, plenty of other things to go see and do. :) Also, some bathrooms did not work, but they eventually got it fixed. My point is, things don't always go as planned, but they work really hard to get it back to working. Cabin: we had a porthole cabin. It was nice because the porthole gives a little shelf to store stuff = MORE SPACE! But the rest was just as any other room we have stayed in (window/no window). LOL, our toilet seat broke one day. But our steward replaced it right away and was super cool about it. Dining: everything was good. Food wasn't amaaazing always, but it was always good. Lots of options. And of course, the molten chocolate cake never disappoints. This was the 1st time we had "your time dining", and we won't do this again. There is less organization going this route, so be prepared to wait. One time we were sat and had to wait about 15 minutes till others were sat until we could even start ordering. They like to get the whole section ordered at the same time. Entertainment & Activities: We did our usual stuff, casino, trivia, mini golf, pool, comedy shows, karaoke and as usual they are all amazing and fun. BUT the funnest thing we did this time was the late night "Adult" scavenger hunt. This was the 1st time we saw it on a cruise and had a hilariously fun night. If you see it in your schedule, DO IT! :D Service: no complaints. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Take some time to talk to the staff, especially your room stewards. They remembered our name right when we were on board! Ports & Shore Excursions: Ensenada ... we didn't do any planned excursions. There is some shopping right when you get off the boat. You can get some trinkets, jewelry, etc. You can also sit down there and have a beer or drinks. We ended up getting on a bus, which was $4 roundtrip/each of us. Just keep your ticket to get back on the bus. Dropped us off in the shopping area, near Papas n Beer. Walked around, had some food, drinks, shopped. No kids were with us, but I really want to take my niece sometime soon. :) But there were plenty of kids on the ship, tons in the pool. But it is all good. For this cruise, we purchased the "Faster to the Fun" for ~$40 (it's good for anyone in your cabin). We got to get on board early, our room was ready (we got to the port around 12), there was absolutely no line at this time, flew by security, scanned bags, walked up and onto the ship! Literally less than 20 minutes. But the reason we purchased it was because I had to go to work the day we got back. It was GREAT!!! We had a special waiting area which had some pastries, coffee, water, juice. And we got to get off the ship 1st, again no line, no waiting! Definitely, the way to go. You also get priority at the ports, but we didn't use it then. We will definitely go again. We've been on about 5 Carnival Cruises now. We want to try others, but for now we're sticking with Carnival! Read Less

Crew - As always, Carnival staff are very friendly and helpful. Avidt at the Deli remembered us from our cruise in Jan and even remembered what sandwiches we ordered ... unbelievable!!! A quick get-away for my son's 21st birthday. Embarkation was so quick and simple, we never stopped walking from the parking garage until we were in the atrium. The remodeled dome is beautiful and streamlined. The Inspiration is beautiful, even for it's age (just like me!) Everything is clean and sparkling, comfortable, yet elegant. Our interior cabin was perfect for a place to get some rest, I was on a trundle bed and I was worried about comfort, but it was very comfortable. Our cabin steward, Bagus, made sure we had everything we needed, even though we rarely saw him. Out of 7 cruises, this is the ONLY one where I can say that the cruise director really impressed me. On other ships, the CD was either rarely seen or only mingling with the opposite sex! NoNo was great! She is full of energy, funny, and spent her time with everyone. I loved the music trivia. Stage shows were entertaining, and my son said the comedy shows were very funny. Bar and dining service was quick and all the servers were very friendly. The dining room meals were yummy! However, the buffet for lunch and dinner was hit or miss...but there is always, pizza, the deli, guys burgers, or burritos! Never was hungry. Had room service one night and it was quick, hot, and very good. I did not even see a crew member who wasn't working hard, smiling, and accommodating. Catalina is a beautiful port. My son and GF went parasailing, then we took a golfcart around the island. Having been to Ensenada previously, I stayed onboard while here. My son found a great little beach, walking distance from the port, then a couples massage at Ensenada Massage. Overall this was a fantastic cruise. We all had an amazing time and I am already planning another! (Maybe 7 days this time!) Read Less

Overall, this was a great experience for someone who’s going on a cruise for the first time. The staff were super friendly, definitely treated us like family, made us feel welcomed and valued . The food was alright, it was very nice to be able to have food almost anytime you craved for something. It would have been better if there were some more salad choices. The indidian chef at the grill never smiled, but certainly made the best pastrami sandwiches. Entertainment could improve a bit for adults. The ship itself was very clean and the people on it as well, all sophisticated and classy. It would have been helpful if the information about the cruise and the activities were provided to the cruisers in advance, so we could have planned things ahead. It was awesome when the captain and all the crew showed up on the last day, we felt very safe cruising with the captain. I was disappointed when my suitcase got delivered to our cabin on the first day after arrival since it was missing our travel pillow. We handed the carriers our suitcase on our way to the ship on monday afternoon, when they delivered it to our cabin later that day, the travel pillow gone. There’s one thing I would recommend changing 1. It would have been better if we could extend the time in Ensenada and stay there longer to be able to explore multiple places instead of spending a day at the sea. Read Less

This Cruise was perfect for a quick getaway and a party platform for my soon-to-married Uncle. This cruise is a little rowdy but knowing this HAVE FUN. I probably would not bring children on this one. The cruise was very affordable and Carnival did a great job providing top value for the price paid. My Uncle is 84 and the Bachelor party consisted of 35-48 year olds as well as my 84 year old UNCLE. -Check in at the Long Beach Terminal was a Breeze. No lines or Hassles. We arrived at 100pm and were immediately on board. However, the 710 fwy had a lot of traffic, south bound towards the port. -THe Ship is nice. Not the newest but all the amenities were adequate and clean.I was disappointed the pool was not filled until sail away. -The staff were very hospitable. -Our Room E116 was an Interior room big enough for 3. AC worked perfectly. Our room was ready immediately and something new-->Carnival now provides you the room keys outside of your room door in an envelope. -The soap and shampoo are of better quality from what I remember too. -The Food was very good. From Guys Burgers to the Mexican Station. WOW, KILLER SHRIMP and BREAKFAST Burritos. Sea day Brunch always impresses and Dinners were of quality too. I loved the Ceaser Salad and escargot ..The Cheesecake and Molten were awesome. -Entertainment was great. The night club and casino were fun. Actually the Casino paid out a lot this trip. (CRAPS!!!!). The energy was excellent. The Piano Bar, Comedy Club and Karaoke were very entertaining. We never saw a show--> NO TIME :) -Debarkation was extremely quick and what I always do is pack and go up and eat breakfast while the herd is vacating. -FINALLY, this was my first time buying CHEERS. Im too old to smuggle and how much do you really save on a 3 day cruise? I paid the $171 and I drank my money's worth. The Alchemy bar has the best drinks, probably worth 15 bucks plus at a great restaurant. Having 3 blue cheese stuffed Olive, Grey Goose Martinis a night, was a treat. Also being able to consume the Coffee house coffee and Irish coffee was fantastic. The Vitamin waters helped on the ENSENADA day. I really think Cheers is worth it. I debated on this but ultimately I am so happy I spent the money. Knowing all your non alcoholic drinks especially coffee are included was reassuring. I do not like the regular coffee upstairs. This is my 4 mini cruise on Carnival. If I had the time, I would do this monthly. Good job Carnival on providing such a great product for an affordable price. My 84 year Old Uncle ran circles around us. He was in Heaven. I appreciate the guests and employees for making his Bachelor party the BEST. Read Less

We have always flown out of Florida for our cruises, as the west coast did not have options we were fond of. We decided on a whim to try it out. * Embarkation - Great! So fast and easy - very different from Florida. * Ship - Beautiful! This class of ship has beautiful ships - they are older but have less gaudy decor and carpet. The Inspiration was very lovely! Our last day (sea day) was very windy: 30-40mph winds. This made for high swells and rocky waters. We *always* take Dramamine with us, just in case of these situations. You could definitely feel the boat moving. The top of the ship will be blocked off for safety reasons when there are high winds or bad weather. * Cabin - We were in R10. This is in the left (port) side front bottom of the ship on the Riviera Deck (level/deck 4). If you plan to do a lot on the upper decks (10 is lido with the pool and food), plan to use elevators or stairs. We liked this cabin because of the cost and the ease of getting back on the ship after port (embarkation is deck 3). We had two portholes - they are awesome to at least see daylight and know around what time it is. There was a slight odor in the bathroom (from the very first time we walked in). I am not sure if it was from mold or from a pipe. There were days we noticed it more than others. * Cabin Steward - Huge shout out to Dante! He did an amazing job keeping us comfortable and our cabin stayed very clean. He remembered our names (I always wonder how they do that) and always greeted us, and asked if everything was okay. He was very respectful of our times we didn't want the cabin cleaned. * Dining - We ended up having to go with Your Time/Anytime dining. We usually go with the early dining. We did not sit in the same seat/area twice (although I heard you can request this), and had different wait staff each meal. We ate breakfast and dinner in the dining room and were very happy with both. The staff did an amazing job and the food was wonderful! For dinner we ate mahi mahi, prime rib, spare ribs, salmon, steak tacos (Ensenada port of call on the menu); for breakfast we had omelette’s for most of breakfast meals, but had a good offering of sides (hash browns, English muffins, etc.). We are not adventurous eaters, they had a lot of seafood and at least 4-6 different options for dinner, plus options for those non-adventurous eaters. If you do not like your meal, let the waiter know and request a different meal. We ordered sides from other nights with no problems (even if they weren’t on the menu for that night). The wait staff was always happy to please and always took care of you. I was _very_ surprised and pleased when I heard of another member on board having a gluten intolerance - the dining room prepared her a full menu for each day – allowing her to order the night before so they could get it prepared for the next day. So awesome! * Ports – (Itinerary – Long Beach->Catalina Island->Ensenada, Mexico->Long Beach): ** Catalina Island: We LOVED Catalina Island. It was so quaint, cute and a pretty island. We rented a golf cart and toured the island – with no regrets. ***If you do the golf cart tour, reserve WELL in advance! For some companies, you have to just stand in line and wait for golf carts to return. They don’t have a wait list. People were very friendly and we highly enjoyed ourselves. The beach was beautiful, but the water was cold. ** Ensenada: Just as personal preference, this is not somewhere we would go again. We walked the city around 1st street just a few minutes from port and were hounded by little kids trying to sell items – to the point of them following us and walking next to us for ½ a block. After that, we decided to get on a tour bus to La Bufadora ($17/pp) with a stop at the Corona Distillery. The Corona “distillery” was very much like a tiny convenience store. Corona cans are under a dollar. At the time we went, the bathroom was inoperable. Then, onto La Bufadora. This shopping area is 45 minutes away from port. It is a street vendor/flea market. There is a least ¼ to ½ of a mile of both sides being filled with street vendors that are very pushy, direct and will yell out to you to come to their shops. There are a lot of free samples – we were offered a lot of free tequila shots. To give you an idea of pricing, we were interested in a Lucha Libre mask and were told it was $25.00. They asked us to make an offer – which we didn’t. We just moved on. We did not spend much time there. You do have to go through this flea market to get to the blow hole. Sadly, the blow hole was not very active when we saw it – it had a few small bursts, but nothing really big. If we go on this cruise again, we will stay on the ship for this port (again, just personal preference). Overall, we were very happy with this trip. We will go again someday! Read Less

We chose a 4 day to Catalina and Ensenada since this was our first time as a family of 6 and wasn’t sure what to expect. We booked 2 cabins next door to each other on the Riviera deck (4) so the kids (13, 7, 4, and 4) could be close to us. The embarkation process went smoothly. We purchased FTTF for both rooms. We didn’t need it because we arrived around noon and it wasn’t crowded but on the way out it helps avoid the lines. Either way I will always purchase it since you enjoy other perks like no line at the info desk, and no lines when getting on the tender to go to Catalina. Also, if there’s a long line to exit through customs be sure to grab a porter and he will avoid the line completely and get you right through. That was well worth $10! We had the most amazing head waiter named Arwin. We have some allergies and he was always very accommodating with a smile on his face. He was so nice that one of my twins got teary eyed the morning we left when he found out he wouldn’t be seeing him again. The food was good. There’s a lot of complaints on this site but honestly I am pretty picky and I liked the food. If there was something I didn’t like I just ordered something else! The burgers at Guys were really good. I only had it once and both my husband and I wished we had it more but we had so many other things to try. Their burritos and taco salads were delicious. Steak, shrimp, roasted corn, grilled onions, the works! Don’t eat the tacos. Not good. Even the buffet is decent. I had potato leek soup one day that was delish! I’m gluten sensitive and they did have gluten free bread, buns and pizza but they weren’t good but I was fine with all the other options they had. The kids loved the water slides, pool, and hot tub. The kids club was also a hit for movie watching and making new friends. We enjoyed craft cocktails at the Alchemy bar and there was never a wait. I think it helped that we were traveling mid week during spring break. The comedy club was fun as others mentioned and hubby won a little money in the casino. Overall, I would recommend this cruise for a nice easy getaway at a reasonable price. If you keep your expectations low you will be blown away. Read Less

This was my second time to Catalina and Ensenada but on a different cruise line....The other people that I was with was their first time....The crew was fantastic, very friendly and accommodating. Plenty of great food...This is a really good cruise if you've never been on one before for a couple of reasons...not too long out at sea and you get an idea if this kind of a vaycay is for you...The one thing I would do differently is take my own luggage on board at the beginning of the trip and at the end of the trip take your luggage with you off the boat instead of leaving it out the night before you pull into port. The excursion to La Bufadora was a little disappointing...we booked this through Carnival and the bus took us to this old casino before we went to La Bufadora and it was a waste of time. It also took up the time we could have spent at the open flea market looking at the crafts...we didn't have enough time to really enjoy the open market and surrounding attractions....The service on the ship was phenomenal...I would like to note that tips are always very much appreciatedI by all the staff on the ship...I would definitely recommend this trip to my friends!!!!! There are shows and games and plenty of activities and the staff is the best. I was surprised because the last two carnival cruises ... well the food left a lot to be desired but this one the dinner menu was just delicious. Since food is just a small part of cruise for me it didn't stop me from using carnival but again food was really good on this cruise Customer service a good experience also. There had been a small problem with my account and when I brought it to their attention it was fixed immediately and they sent a tray of chocolate covered strawberries to my room for the inconvenience. The ship and rooms clean as was the public rest rooms. Highly recommend the Inspiration... Read Less

Let me just preface this review with my age....71 and have sailed 25+ cruises. I prefer to sail carnival because of younger crowd. I have tried other lines and found when sailing with older cruisers dynamics totally different. I like the casino and their casinos are rocking way into the early hours and carnival has a lot of things going on .... again way into the night when younger patrons. I want to be entertained when on vacation and there is plenty to do.....took a cruise on HAL to Alaska and medium age was 60+ and there was nothing to do other than trivia and casino literally was closed by 9 because it was empty. I was very pleasantly surprised at food in dining room....the food has not been great on last couple carnival cruises but this boat had really good food in dining room and it was a nice surprise. I don't sail for food because I can always find something but again, good. Only stopped in Encinada but I highly recommend a local restaurant Guadalajara.....food so good and amazing. There were four of us and had tacos, large bowl of guacamole and coke cola and total bill $14. Cabin steward saw first day and never again but every time we requested something it magically appeared and room nicely maintained. There were a lot of shows and games for adults and children. Customer service very pleasant and because they had given me wrong rating on my card I received a plate of chocolate covered strawberries delivered to room.... Only negative I can come up with is glass elevators in atrium to working .... but who cares...I don't. Read Less

This is the first cruise for my husband and I. Because there was no phone or internet service readily available, it forced us to unwind and relax that we otherwise would not have done. I appreciated that actually. My husband unfortunately has stage 4 cancer and is not as mobile as he used to be. He doesn't like to draw attention to this so he uses no aides. The elevators not always going to the desired floor, but needing to go up a floor and then going to a different area to go back down was hard on him. If that could have been marked clearer it would have been helpful. The best part of the cruise for us was the delightful 2 people that assisted in the carnival dinning room. I can not say enough good about Dejan (I hope that is spelled correctly) and Yves. He and she, respectfully, was so kind and courteous. They are the memory I brought home with me. I actually wish I could have brought them home!! I enjoyed the craft portion of the day. I did not get the name of the girl who made the valentine cards, but she was amazing. She deserves special recognition. and the bubble of fun with the Aussie or British accent in the quilt a bear. She is the perfect personality for the public. Too bad that can't be bottled up and sold. I would really love to take this trip again. Dejon/Dejan asked me if I would be back. I told him no. This is because I doubt my husband will live much longer. However, if luck falls on my path, I truly would like to return. Especially if my favorite waiter is there. We was invited to come with a group of about 24, called the Lovers Holiday. BTW. Food was fabulous everywhere.. Especially the dinning room Read Less
