Just got off the boat today. This is my 20th cruise (RC, HA, Carnival and Princess Past Cruiser) -Hot Food! Learn it, Everything was COLD This is my 11th Mexican 4 Day. Ive never seen such cold food. Quality's gone down a lot but... the price is cheap... -Music in ALL areas to damn loud In between a comedy show I don't like screaming at the people besides me and my waiter needs a written paper to understand what I am saying its SO LOUD. Took my kid to the Holiday "carol" in the atrium and it was so loud she wanted to leave. There was a show on Tuesday that woke me up in the atrium FROM MY ROOM. (E55) Yikes! Get your sound checked. LOUDER IS NOT BETTER. With that said our room guy was awesome. I couldnt belive they stopped cleaning rooms twice a day I cant belive that Lobster on Fancy Night is gone Trashy people on board: I can NOT Blame Carnival for this. The price is amazing. I literally witnessed a woman try and get money out of the ATM machine....trasshhhyyyy *checked it though she didnt use it*. I loved everything else. MY kids wouldn't shut up, all they wanted was to go to the kids club. The towel animals on deck were awesome. The Dr, Seuss breakfast was amazing. Read Less

Convenient cruise- easy getting form the Long Beach airport to the cruise ship- & used the shuttle as only myself traveling, but if I was with a group would have used UBER to get to & from the ship . I wanted a short itinerary, to determine if I would enjoy solo cruising. Was great being able to have cabin to self, able to do what I wanted when I wanted & how I wanted. Totally enjoyed the sauna, steam room & gym. was well taken care of by my room steward, Supron - always had a full ice container, room cleaned as necessary Did the Chef's table & was impressed by all the food that was fixed & served, Learned many interesting facts about the food, preparation & many ingredients for the many foods that was served to us. Even learned some new things about different herbs & spices to combine with different foods. In Ensenada discovered a great place to go for a massage- Massage & Facial Wellness - within walking distance of the ship- and very reasonable priced, then did a chocolate class at the Maya Cacao- learning how chocolate is made form cacao beans- Did I mention that is all organic & they use the profits to support orphanages in the area Read Less

Never going back--even if free So there are good things about this cruise. 1. SOME of the staff were very nice. The guy who cleaned our room was amazing-super friendly and always greeted us with a smile. The girls working the excursions. . BUT we had a few VERY BAD THINGS. 1. The FOOD WAS HORRIBLE across the board. It was like bad, cheap mall food and there was hardly any available. The food at dinner was a little better, but two nights, I didn't even eat because it was so yucky. Cold, soggy, smelled "off", and it was obvious that it was premade. In the Mardi Gras room, I tried to eat there twice with no luck. Bad service--one guy got really mad that I didn't want coffee and the next day the guy kept bringing me the wrong food. They tried hard, but it was bad. Room service was lackluster and they charged for everything. 2. There wasn't much to do on the ship except drink and since so much of the ship was filled with smokers, it was bad. 3. They didn't explain anything to us and when we asked we got yelled at. We were very confused much of the time (it was our first cruise)*** come back to this. 4. Excursions were very expensive and they were super unorganized--getting off the ship etc. It was chaotic. 5. The "safety" thing was just the cruise director taking roll and telling us what shows were coming up. And he mentioned that kids had armbands. We would have been screwed had anything happened. 6. Our stateroom was FREEZING. I had on three shirts, a sweatshirt, two pairs of thick socks, a hat, gloves and a scarf and got under the covers. There was no way to warm up. The shower was lukewarm. So we FROZE. It was warmer on the deck in the rain and 50 degrees. I caught a really bad cold and was coughing. It was so uncomfortable. When I asked the man who cleaned our room he said that was how it was. It was like camping, outside, in the winter. This was probably the thing that was the hardest to deal with. 7. The internet for $59 was super slow and you couldn't even access the app without it. Only one person can be on it. 8. The hallway and room smelled like rotting feces at all times. (E78) 9. We were by the atrium where they had parties and loud music and games from early morning til midnight or later. THE WORST WAS this one lady at the guest services. We asked her how to disembark on day three--we thought we should know. She started immediately yelling at us to "turn on the tv!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" when I explained that on the Carnival TV channel there was only ads and a cartoon explaining how to put on a life jacket she got more angry. She told us to TURN ON THE TV!!!! IT WAS ON THERE. Then I suggested that the rooms should have a book or something with information like hotels do---she got upset again. She demanded to know why we were confused. I said that for example we had no idea where to eat or anything and that's when she lost her mind. She literally said, "JESUS CHRIST!!!" and then called me a B**ch Then put her hand up and refused to answer any questions. We were then AFRAID to ask anyone anything. I was in tears at that point because I hadn't eaten all day (due to the lack of food choices) and just wanted an explanation of what time we could leave on Friday morning. There was no need to be nasty. I even explained that it was our first cruise. I left in tears. I asked a man in the hallway to see a manager and he told me that there was no such thing on Carnival cruises and that guest services were the boss. I explained what happened and he said that was up to them how to treat people. Then I said, "so you could verbally abuse me and no one would do anything, not even the captain?" He confirmed. I was crying. I went outside to sit on deck nine to calm down, because there was nothing we could do to get help. I got locked outside for 45 minutes. :( I don't know if I will get a lawyer because of he behavior, but honestly verbally abusing guests is UNCALLED FOR. Also she NEVER told us how to do anything. I went down there at 3 am and asked someone else. To end on a good note, the guys in the dining hall were amazing. Once we figured out where to go and went there every night at 8:15, they went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. Sadly this was our honeymoon and because the stateroom smelling like poop, being about 50 degrees, and being called names and cursed out. It ruined it for us. I am drafting a letter---the old fashioned way and mailing it to them. I hope they refund at least half or it, but even if they do, we aren't going back. It was really, really, really bad. PROS: some of the staff, and the people we met, the comedy shows were good, the entertainment shows were good. CONS: Food, some of the staff, freezing & stinky rooms, no hot water in shower, general confusiong, loud parties outside our room. Read Less

Last year I took a 3 day cruise with Carnival Victory. I’d have to say I was disappointed this year with Carnival Inspiration as I compare it to last year’s cruise because: The ship needs updating badly, there were not enough adult activities during the day, in the adult only deck section (which is extremely hard to find)- there was no bar, guest services was unfriendly along with several bartenders, the food was subpar in the buffet area, there were no areas where food was offered during non-meal times (which Carnival Victory had and I hear a lot of other ships do too), the safety check in Muster C was a waste of time because you couldn’t see the person on stage demonstrating or hear the overhead announcement for safety instructions, you also couldn’t hear the overhead announcements while in the cabins so if you’re not in the hallway or a common area- you don’t know what they’re trying to tell you. I would say Orlando (cruise director) and Alvin (Orlando’s assistant) did a PHENOMINAL job with entertainment. I wish they hosted more activities during the day for adults though, because there were hour stents when there was nothing to do but sit at a bar or on a deck (it was a bit cool, so we barely used the deck). Jodi (stand up comedian) was GREAT and had me laughing so hard that I cried. Mon (our housekeeper) was OUTSTANDING. Mon had great customer service and attended to our request quickly. I was also disappointed there was not a deal on he pictures. Not even the day we left the ship. There were just so many times that I didn’t feel there was adequate customer service. Next year, I’m not sure I would give Carnival another try because I hear so many great reviews about Royal Caribbean. I would like to express how great of a time I had during the horseback riding excursion in Ensanada. Jose was our guide and he did an AWESOME job. All the men at the horseback riding place were personable, made sure we were safe during the ride through the mountains and provided us an overall meaningful experience. Read Less

I have to admit, we had a great time!. My wife and I are in our 50s and usually go with Celebrity around Europe for 1-2 weeks, but this was our nieces birthday so her and all her 40ish friends wanted to go on this 3 day Carnival Ensenada cruise. We though well its not Celebrity, but its for our nieces birthday so what the heck lets go. Where to start?.... boarding was no problem, no wait. Passport or birth cert. and ID. We arrived, walked right on and to our suite at 1:30 and had lunch. The food was very good in all areas. Guy Fieries Cheeseburgers were very good, the buffet was very good as well, and the dining room had great food. I really like the thin crust pizza near the back it was amazing. All the employees around the ship friendly and got you pretty much whatever you needed. There is the LOUD pool area with DJ for those who want to dance and listen to that kind of music, not for us, so we went to Serenity in the back which is an area for over 21, light relaxing music and nice lounge chairs, best place to be if you are mid life and not trying to act 21 with a bathing suit you shouldnt be wearing. The shows on board were ok, a little cheesy, lip syncing dancing but OK if you are easily amused. The comics have 2 shows, early, no profanity and late with. The comedian was just meh. 3 different dance clubs, karaoke, etc.. they were OK if you are 21-31 and want to club dance and drink. The drinks were all good, we got the drink package and we didn't use all of it per day. 50 bucks a day per person per room. Oh... and EVERYONE in your room must buy the drink package. no getting just one and you get drinks for everyone in your room. Drinks are about 10 bucks so do the math if you like to drink. We upgraded to a suite to get a veranda. The only veranda rooms are suites. So if you are never in your room dont bother with a suite. Considerably more, but we had a nice sized room with a big veranda. About 21/2 times more per person but worth it I thought. The ship is a little dated but clean. We stayed on board in Ensenada I don't need any Chickletts gum or fanny packs. Ensenada is walking distance about 20 min walk. So contrary to many of these reviews, everything was 4-5 stars. I would do it again. I hope this was helpful. Read Less

Tried looking on Cruise Critic for information about the Carnival Halloween October but could not find any. Hopefully this review will prepare future cruisers as what to expect. This is a “Booze Cruise.” Lots of drinkers and smokers (not only tobacco). We have done this short cruise before and knew what to expect. However, there seemed to be more drunk people on this cruise. The cruise was hit and miss. For a 22 year old ship, the Inspiration is in OK shape. There is some interior damage to the decorations contributed to the type of guest the ship attracts. It was nice after many months, the glass elevators were working again. The first night, as we left Long beach, it rained and the roof above deck 12, near the atrium, leaked. Embarkation was fast. Your room keys are obtained on board the ship in a sealed envelope outside your cabin door. Both the embarkation, and debarkation, were smooth and fast. Parking at the port will cost you $20 a day. We were excited to hear the Inspiration would be celebrating Halloween all October like their web site said. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the Carnival Halloween Celebration. We thought the ship would be decorated for Halloween and the music selection would be seasonal. The decoration consisted on a single 12 foot statue of Patches (the Carnival Halloween mascot) and some orange and black plastic bunting in the atrium. As for the Halloween music, it did not exist (except for Thriller at a dance class). There was no Halloween themed food served and the costume party consisted of 14 people in costume. It did not help the costume party was held during the Late Dinner Seating. Thus, you either missed the party, or your assigned dinner time. There was a pumpkin carving contest on the day at sea where 6 guests competed again the Cruise Director and the ship’s Ice Carver. MarQ (the Cruise Director) and his team, tried their best, but the failure seemed to be on the corporate level. Unless you specifically looked for it on the Carnival website, the passengers were unaware of the Halloween activities prior to boarding the ship (thus the lack of costumes). A simple email prior to the cruise would have solved this issue. It seemed like Carnival was doing the bare minimum to call itself a Halloween Cruise. So, it you are looking for a Halloween fun, stick to the amusement parks. On a bright note, the Cruise Director, MarQ, was very friendly and went out of his way to talk to the guests. His team was energetic and worked hard. Albert, the Comedy Club Manager, also was friendly and a pleasure to talk to (congratulations on being employee of the month). Unfortunately, the comedians were mediocre. This is the first cruise we have ever seen empty seats in the comedy club. One comedian left the house light up and you felt obligated to laugh for fear of him singling you out. His “jokes” received polite chuckles only. The buffet was laid out well with four areas serving the exact same items. There was also the usual deli, pizza, burger, and Mexican food areas. The Chipole style Mexican food was the best food stop on the ship. There was no Asian buffet area like found on some ships. However, the Taste Bar is now a Sushi Stand which costs about $5 a roll. Never saw anybody buying the sushi. Although not as good as Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Princess, or Holland America, the food was as expected for a 3 day cruise. Although the 3 day cruise is a nice escape from reality, it is Booze Cruise. Not recommended for children. If your goal is to get drunk and party, this is the cruise for you. If you want a more traditional cruise, go with the 7 day cruises. If you want a starter cruise, go with the 4 day midweek sailings. Read Less

Time consistent Always making us laugh. Sang to us. Suggested great food and entertainmant. The musical shows were amazing. The band near the casino was phenominal. I think the band name was moccha sound. The MC was hilarious and always helpful. Our cabin was always clean. I loved the little details with the towels and towel animals. The excursions were so fun. Fiabola and Armando from the tour bus were funny and great to talk to. They gave us great recommendations. Felt safe with the tour vus as well. Ping ball ans miniature golf was so much fun. Swimming was fun. All staff on deck was excellent. Very sweet staff. I hope to see the dame staff there when I take another carnival inspiration cruise. I also loved the staff in the boutique store near the casino. Read Less

The price was good. But you know what they say, you get what you pay for. The drinks were watered down so I ordered "shots" instead. But let me tell you, I had 4 shots of (supposedly, PATRON Tequila) and after the 4 shots, I didn't even have a tiny buzz. They were very easy to go down, but even Patron has a bit of a kick. It tasted like water with a bit of alcohol. I am normally a lightweight. One shot and I feel a lil buzz. But after 4 shots? No, something was just not right. And the last cruise I went on, all the food was included, but this time, Room Service was not included and at dinner, if you wanted anything like steak or lobster you had to pay an additional $20 each meal!! That was crazy!! Regarding beverages, it use to be all included except Alcohol, which is understandable. But now, you have to pay for sodas as well... The rooms weren't always cleaned properly and I felt that our person who cleaned our room, was constantly in there. Moving our stuff etc.... we didn't like that too much. Read Less

Normally my husband and I prefer longer cruises, but this was the first time we'd taken our kids (ages 8 and 6), and we weren't sure how they would do. So we decided a 3-day was the way to go, just to find out how they liked it. The verdict is in -- they LOVED it and are begging to go back. Embarkation was ridiculously easy. Our time slot was at noon, and we'd left the Queen Mary hotel (next door) by 11, thinking we would need time dealing with parking in the garage. We were parked 2 minutes later. Because we had almost an hour left before our time slot, I suggested that we walk over to the water and take some photos. That killed another 10 minutes, so I decided to have us just go through the "early" line, hoping that the wait wouldn't be long. Ha! We literally walked right up. We were on the ship about 5 minutes later, and were relaxing with our lunches by the pool before our time slot even opened. The waterslide area never got crowded. Nor did the pool deck. Super easy to attend shows, too. Just walk right up and get a seat. If you wanted the front row right in the center, come like 5-10 minutes early. Both my daughter and I were contestants on the Hasbro the Game Show and we won consolation prizes. Son and husband got selected as characters in "Horton Hears a Who" reenactment for the Dr. Seuss storytime. Super fun! Daughter and I won the dance contest during the kids Halloween Party in the Rock n Roll Lounge (I was voted Best Mom Dancer and she was Best Girl Dancer). Food was AMAZING, especially the cold soups. That was my attempt at introducing my kids to fancy food. They had cold soups as an appetizer along with their chicken fingers or mac n cheese. Well, you can't win 'em all, right? Husband and I enjoyed the steak and seafood entrees every night. The surf was a bit choppy on our Sea Day, and our sea kayaking got cancelled during our port in Ensenada. No worries -- we'll just have to go again next year for Fall Break! I think we'll do the 4-day this time. Read Less

Ship was great with a lot of entertainment! Cabin was very nice and clean, our room was cleaned up quickly once we left. We were greeted by the steward and I was impressed that he remembered our name the entire time! Dinner was great, a lot of food choices was wonderful for my husband who loves food. My favorite was all the photos all through the cruise, we now have plenty of keep sake memories. Dressing up for a formal dinner and photos was a night to remember, everyone was so professional and helpful always with smiles on their faces. My only regret was spending so much money at the spa! I would have given a 5 star had I not felt cheated at the spa. At the time I didn't say anything however for I should have. Ladies don't waste your money with the ionithermie! I went for a walk through and the "deal" sounded amazing. All areas plus a temple massage for $129 well I never got any massage at all! And the equipment they promised to be so relaxing was actually horrible to feel like your getting shocked! Then after the process they recalculate your measurements to see how many inches you have lost. She said I lost 3" but as I looked at the paper I lost none. NOT worth the money I spent! I much rather could of used that money on something else on this cruise. That was my first time ever at a spa and probably my last time. Shore excursion was AMAZING! If I could give them a 10 stars I would. We did the Baja Off the Road Buggy Adventure. This was the highlight to our cruise. Those guys were fun, nice and professional. Money well spent there and if we were to go I would chose that excursion again. My husband and I both are wanting to do a longer cruise next time. Read Less

I was in charge of 5 people’s vacation for the week. After finding the perfect dates and given a budget I was able to book two Verandah suites aboard this ship. Being my first time cruising and hearing others reviews of the cruise I wasn’t expecting too much. Upon arriving and making it through customs (having the Verandah rooms give you priority access through some lines, by the way) we walked through the maze of the ship to find two beautiful rooms on the top of the ship with balconies waiting for us. 2 in one room and 3 in the other. We dropped off our bags and began to explore. The boat isn’t huge, but with amenities like a spa, gym, hair salon, multiple bars, restaurants, lounges, plenty of seating there’s always something to do! There’s pizza and ice cream available 24 hours a day and if that isn’t enough to get you there’s a Blue Iguana (Mexican) and Guy’s Burger Joint right next to the main deck where everyone hangs out. The staff on our boat were incredible I’d like to highlight a few of them. These staff memebers work so hard and tirelessly. I didn’t see a single one without a smile on their face. I Made was our steward on the Verandah cabins and made our trip absolutely incredible by keeping our rooms tidy and always checking in to make sure we had everything we needed—we received complimentary cookies and water from this sweet man and his staff. At dinner we met Ferdinand and Alex who facilitated the most fun and personalized dining experiences I’ve had the pleasure of having. They danced, sang, and remembered minute details about each of the people in my party. They went above and beyond to get us all the food we wanted and even treated us to some off the menu Filipino food from the chef on our last night in the Mardi Gras dining room. Without these 3 men I know our trip would’ve been a totally different experience (if you’re dining in the Mardi Gras room ask for Ferdinand, his section fills us fast and if you have the pleasure of having him serve you, you won’t regret it!) The shows were so much fun! PARENTS BEWARE OF STUDIO VIP THOUGH! There is an unannounced strip tease at one point and though there weren’t any kids in our group I would’ve assumed that there would’ve been some sort of a warning before one of the cast members on stage had his clothes ripped off his body. (Don’t get me wrong, it was great, but parents with kids just know this is coming at some point in the show). We opted to do the taste of Mexico shore excursion in Ensenada and got so much bang for our buck! Brenda, our guide brought us through the downtown shopping area, took us to the main square with some statues and explained the history of Ensenada. We were then escorted to the venue where we met Luis, our cooking instructor who taught us to make our own salsa, guacamole, enchiladas, and tortas. With locally sourced produce and an awesome and interactive instructor you will enjoy yourself! After learning to make 4 different types of food your are escorted Up the stairs to tequila tasting. 6 different shots are poured and included in this $50 food tour and it’s absolutely worth every cent. I don’t even drink and had so much fun watching my family take these shots with the rest of the tour! Go eat all the food, workout (or get some sort of movement into your day, and just enjoy your time on the boat! Tip: don’t buy the internet, you’re on vacation—unplug for the next 4 days. There are very few times you’ll be this disconnected and it’s wonderful. Read Less

We wanted a short getaway to celebrate our 40th Anniversary. This would be our 4th cruise for 2018, having just returned in June from a 3 week Oceania Tahiti cruise. We have cruise about 50 cruises, on almost all lines. What a difference a good cruise director can make! Connor was called in to take over- this was his first cd gig. He was fresh & so fun & excited, you just had to have fun! Verses some "veterans" who do the same tired lines for many years, and it shows. This was our 3rd getaway on carnival, plus many on Princess & RCI. True, this is a party cruise with alot of drinking, but with tight security I didn't see any problems (just a loud crowd!). Probably had more drunks on NCL with the "free" beverage package. Having just been on Oceania (know for their excellent culinary program) I wasn't expecting much, but was again pleasantly surprised. Some of the meals I'd compare with Oceanina, some obviously not quite up to Oceania. However, had some bad food on Oceania also. Was very happy with the menu choices, as most days had 3-4 things I really wanted to try. Had prime rib, salmon, stuffed mushrooms, escargot, shrimp cocktails & best crab cakes ever! As ship is older not many balconies, so for a short cruise the oceanview worked fine. Think our cabin had more storage space than our balcony cabin on Oceania. Room steward was just as attentive. Cabin & bathroom was very minimal. DH big complaint was no room thermostat- had to stand on bed to turn ac vent open/closed! Although it is obvious it is an older ship with alot of hard use, the maintenance program seems to be keeping it "ship-shape". Embarkation & disembarkation was easiest of any ship we have been on. Their new terminal (opened late Jan this year) really makes you fee like you are already on vacation. Not like Miami- where you are so stressed out by the time you get to your cabin it takes a full day just to unwind. Our only port was Ensenada, which is why we went. We like the winery tour- and it was almost a private tour- only 1 other couple on the morning tour! The guide at La Cetto spoke bad English, but answered all our questions. Tasting was excellent, as always. They have cleaned up the other winery, but it has not lost its charm. What a bargain- 1/2 day tour, 2 wine tastings, food at each, & a bottle of cab to take home- for $50! . Overall, if looking for value choose Carnival! If don't want to have fun- just relax & money is no object- Oceania is fine. PS- DH has mobility issues, and Carnival was exceptional in that respect also. Whereas on Oceania, as everyone had mobility issue- it was more of a hindrance there! Read Less

I have to say there are a lot of mixed reviews out there. I went into the cruise ship with an open mind and ready to have my own opinion of it. I thought it was great. It may be an older cruise ship but I didn't let that stop me from having fun. Food - We had dinner every night in the Carnival Dining Room at 6pm, it was great. The best part was our server SARI, she was WONDERFUL! All the other crew that worked her section with her were just as wonderful as well. The food was great, although the portions are small, its doesn't matter because you can order as much as you want. I wont lie, we all ordered TONS of servings, pretty much one of everything and we shared it all. They even brought my husband and I a heart shaped chocolate cake with candles that said :Happy Anniversary" for us. Guys Burgers, AH-MAZING, the deli was okay, I didn't care for it as much, wish they would add a BLT to that deli menu. We made it to the open buffet only once for breakfast on the last day, it was great. Its the dining room with the weird purple tubes, LOL We never ordered room service so I cant tell you how that was. Drinks - I had a lot of the fruity drinks, a few Cran and Vodkas, they were all great. Our bartenders in the main lobby, Wi and Gerard, were absolutely the BEST!! We have made some life long friends with those 2. They remember our number for our drinks, gave us water when we asked, we got to know them on a personal level. If you have the time while you're having a drink I highly recommend you get to know these two. They were the best! We spent a lot of time in the main lobby bar because of them! Entertainment - My husband and I went to only one show, the Love and Marriage show, it was great. It was like a a real life game show, 3 couples on stage and answering questions about one another. The cruise director NONO was GREAT!! Always involved in all the shows, the entertainment in the main lobby, we had tons of parties late at night in the main lobby. The music was great too. The Casino bar had a great band as well. Cabin - Our cabin was E239, I thought it was fine, I mean do you really spend that much time in your room anyway? The bed was COMFY! We didn't have any noise, nice size. The only thing I would have liked was if the "fake" window was maybe painted to look like an ocean view or a garden, something other then a plain curtain covering nothing... The ports were great. It was my first time at Catalina Island and Ensenada. We rented a golf cart on the island, drove around for a good 2 hrs, stopped at a little Mexican shop and had a drink and tacos. Saw deer, tons of them! In Mexico, we walked around, shopped, ate and drank and ended up at Papas' and Beers....WARNING.....if you dance they get you.....all fun....try it.... Overall my experience on the Inspiration was AMAZING! We will be back again for a longer cruise. The staff was great! Read Less

I had such a wonderful and amazing time sailing with Carnival this past weekend with my mom!! We left from the port of Long Beach and when we got there the atmosphere was already fun! Nono was an incredible cruise director. I don't know how she does it. She has to do so many shows and announcements but manages to do it with inspiration and enthusiasm. Those 70's and 80's sing-a-longs were AMAZING!!! The water slides were fun and so was the pool. I loved ordering a cocktail alongside the pool. I didn't know it was salt water but that made it all the more fun. As far as dining goes, we were at Carnavale and had the first seating. Both Alejandro and Rogelum were so accommodating and so sweet!!! It was first class service!! They even gave me free wine for my birthday and they sang very well. They were attentive and everyone really loved them!! Additionally, when we went to Ensenada La Bufadora tour. Abner was our excursion tour guide and boy was he amazing!! He was so knowledgeable and really brought out the best in Mexico. I learned so much from him. I couldn't believe he was there for only one year. He was such a professional! Also, the burgers were really, really good and so was the fried chicken. Everyone was so nice and I had SUCH a blast with the amazing entertainment. They were incredible!!! Love, Michelle Read Less

We took the 4 day cruise Carnival cruise to Catalina and Esenada from Long Beach. Wife and I did the 3 day cruise on Royal Carribean 10 yrs back, and so we did a lot of comparisons. This time we had our daughter with us cruising for the first time. Embarkation and disebarkation was a breeze at the port. We parked our car at the cruise terminal. Food was very average. Our last 2 cruises on RCL had awesome quality food compared to this carnival cruise. As vegetarians, the food choices were very limited on this cruise for us - both in dining and buffet. In general, the quality of food was medicore according to us. A few good highlights for food - Masala Dosa in dining room breakfast, carnival melting Chocolate cake, decent salad bar. The fries at Guys burger was good and the burrito at cantina by poolside was good as well. Loved the water slides!! The cabin was decently big and comfy, the shower was good as well - great water pressure!! We liked the dining room for dinner and Breakfast for 2 reasons - 1) that was the only place we could get Indian Vegetarian 2) We got out own table unlike RCL where we shared table with others. The indian dinner was average - except on the last night of the cruise the curries tasted good. Again, full credits and praises for the tasty masala dosa for breakfast!! That was truly yummy!! Overall it was a great time on the cruise. Would do it again!! Read Less

I chose this cruise because a friend wanted to celebrate his 30th birthday and that we definitely did! The ship itself is definitely tacky, but it's a cruise so I did not mind any of it at all. The pool area was TINY. I knew this from looking at pictures and the map prior, but it is tiny. The bars were great. ALL OF THEM. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE BARS I ENJOYED. For obvious reason. The main dining room was hit or miss with all entrees. The buffet was hit or miss with most things. The room service was very much a miss most of the time. However, Guy's burgers was pretty delicious. I wish I made more of an effort to eat there more often. The only show we caught was the lady comedy show. The comedian was extremely vulgar and borderline racist, but it was absolutely OKAY. My tip for this show is to let go of all of your ethnics, morals, and values for this 15-20 min skit, knowing that is all for jokes and humor. And you'll have a great time! We went to the nightclub every night and had a blast on most. Not much to say here because there usually isn't much to remember. The worst part of this trip was certain interactions with other guests. You will have your fair share of super sweet, friendly guests, but we encountered a handful of guests who were indeed out of line. Granted they were most definitely inebriated but that does not give anyone the right to treat other people the way they treated some of my friends. I would go into specifics but for the privacy of my friends, I will not. Overall, I had a great time. I came back on a Monday. It is currently the Tuesday right after, and I am still tired. Needed a cruise that began and ended in the week of 7/16. This was the one available. When we take short cruises, we often like to go Carnival. they really do provide the most fun. Particularly as the end of the day.. This ship had 2 late night comics, that were hilarious. When I go on Princess and other lines, once the main show is over, there isn't much to do, unless you like gambling or dancing. Many people say that the food on Carnival isn't very good. That hasn't been our experience. While not the gourmet food one finds on some of the Luxury lines, it is more as good as most of the other ships we travel on. Our cabin service, as well as our food servers were outstanding. No issues with service. I've had much more difficulty with the service on Princess, which I usually take. Others providing excellent service include the pool bar staff, and the Customer Service desk. Read Less

For a 4 day cruise this was fun. We are in our 50-60s . Took our 18 year old grandson and his friend. Catalina was nice, rented a golf cart and saw the island, snorkled on our own. decided not to get off at ensenada, had fun playing different trivia games. The food was really good, we did pay extra for the surf and turf and also attended the Chefs Table, which always is exceptional . Went on the Behind the Fun, they really dont promote very well, but really enjoyed seeing the ship from the workers eyes. Especially seeing the bridge and meeting the Captain. Shows were mediocre, Connor the cruise director was the best, just like the energizing bunny. Mijon our waiter in the main dining room was great. Gambled and won, not to bad with the smoke, people are considerate. Smoked cigars and had champagne on the top deck and had a blast with the music pumping. All in all for a short trip it was good. We are all seasoned cruisers and for the price it is a good deal. Positive attitude also helps :) oh and get the Fast pass, breezed through embarkation. Read Less

My husband and I have done this itinerary with Carnival before and decided to do it again. We just love cruising and love Carnival. Everything is easy going, fun, and relaxing. Ship: easy to get around, we really enjoy the water slides (even though we are adults with no kids!), food and drinks are available everywhere. The 1st day the pool was out of service, and it was actually REALLY hot, so we were kinda disappointed (especially since we purchased the faster to the fun and got on early). BUT it wasn't that big of a deal, plenty of other things to go see and do. :) Also, some bathrooms did not work, but they eventually got it fixed. My point is, things don't always go as planned, but they work really hard to get it back to working. Cabin: we had a porthole cabin. It was nice because the porthole gives a little shelf to store stuff = MORE SPACE! But the rest was just as any other room we have stayed in (window/no window). LOL, our toilet seat broke one day. But our steward replaced it right away and was super cool about it. Dining: everything was good. Food wasn't amaaazing always, but it was always good. Lots of options. And of course, the molten chocolate cake never disappoints. This was the 1st time we had "your time dining", and we won't do this again. There is less organization going this route, so be prepared to wait. One time we were sat and had to wait about 15 minutes till others were sat until we could even start ordering. They like to get the whole section ordered at the same time. Entertainment & Activities: We did our usual stuff, casino, trivia, mini golf, pool, comedy shows, karaoke and as usual they are all amazing and fun. BUT the funnest thing we did this time was the late night "Adult" scavenger hunt. This was the 1st time we saw it on a cruise and had a hilariously fun night. If you see it in your schedule, DO IT! :D Service: no complaints. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Take some time to talk to the staff, especially your room stewards. They remembered our name right when we were on board! Ports & Shore Excursions: Ensenada ... we didn't do any planned excursions. There is some shopping right when you get off the boat. You can get some trinkets, jewelry, etc. You can also sit down there and have a beer or drinks. We ended up getting on a bus, which was $4 roundtrip/each of us. Just keep your ticket to get back on the bus. Dropped us off in the shopping area, near Papas n Beer. Walked around, had some food, drinks, shopped. No kids were with us, but I really want to take my niece sometime soon. :) But there were plenty of kids on the ship, tons in the pool. But it is all good. For this cruise, we purchased the "Faster to the Fun" for ~$40 (it's good for anyone in your cabin). We got to get on board early, our room was ready (we got to the port around 12), there was absolutely no line at this time, flew by security, scanned bags, walked up and onto the ship! Literally less than 20 minutes. But the reason we purchased it was because I had to go to work the day we got back. It was GREAT!!! We had a special waiting area which had some pastries, coffee, water, juice. And we got to get off the ship 1st, again no line, no waiting! Definitely, the way to go. You also get priority at the ports, but we didn't use it then. We will definitely go again. We've been on about 5 Carnival Cruises now. We want to try others, but for now we're sticking with Carnival! Read Less

I have never really been that interested in a cruise, yet my aging mother wanted to go on one and this seemed like the easiest way to try a short, relatively inexpensive cruise. I love Mexico, and generally would rather go there and spend time doing and seeing things there, not on a boat. With very rare exception, I give the Carnival folks a 5/5 for attitude and training -- from booking to debarkation, everyone was very helpful and kind. My mother has mobility issues and gets a little confused now and then -- the room we received was perfect, close to the center of the ship, customer service and the embarkation ramp. The booking agent knew exactly what she was doing. The dock staff helped her on with a wheelchair, even though we did not use one during the trip. When I was out of the room, and got up from a nap and got a little lost, forgetting her key, the crew got her back with no trouble. The cabin was smallish, but it was fine -- it was all we needed, and the beds were comfortable. The food was generally good, with one exception. On the first night, we ate at our assigned dining room and it was not good -- everything was steamed -- floppy calamari, squishy steak, lukewarm lava cake with melted ice cream. Honestly, I wasn't going to say anything, I just figured that was what it was. The hamburger we had eaten at the burger stand was so much better, I figured we could find good enough food. I decided to mention my disappointment, and the staff from the Pride dining room urged us to try again. I am so glad I did. The next two nights' dinners were great, and waiters Jovaneh and Octavian were the best. We just got a team's bad day the first night. Another highlight for us was the comedy show, specifically Jodi White -- both the family and adult shows. The other comic, her husband Dale, was also very good. We went every night to at least one comedy show. We had a good day in Ensenada. I would not put it near the top of the list of Mexican cities I like to visit, but it was OK for a day trip and a little goofy souvenir shopping. I am not sure I am going to be going on a lot of cruises in the future, yet based on the high quality of service from this Carnival crew I would definitely try it again. Read Less

I've always been interested in going on a cruise and had a chance to go on Carnival out of Long Beach to Catalina and Ensenada. Good parts -- The room steward was very friendly and helpful. He quickly learned our names and was readily available. Dinners were great -- all the food was excellent; great selection of sides, main dishes and desserts. Service was usually very good. Not so good -- Some of the public parts of the ship needed more frequent cleaning, including bathrooms. From the moment we boarded they were trying to sell us stuff -- ALL THE TIME. Bottled water was provided -- for more than $3 a bottle (big bottles). Most areas were crowded all the time. We were told rooms would be ready at 1:30. Ours was not and the cleaning staff didn't seem to care. They did, however, tell us it would be ready at 2:00 and it was. Debarkation information was not clear. Debarkation itself was fine. But we couldn't understand the description they had given us. Finally we just started making our way to the exit and got off without any delays. Read Less

We arrived 30 minutes earlier than our check in time but the let us board. After showing home printed boarding pass and passport, we boarded without any lines. We carried our own luggage and went straight to Lido deck to eat lunch where the had buffet as well as Guy's burger and mexican food. Guy's burger was delicious and we came back multiple times. Our stateroom steward was very friendly every time we saw him and did great job of cleaning our room as well as provide us a different towel animal each day. At Catalina Island, we decided to stay on board since we've been there multiple times and not much to do there. This worked out good so very little people/crowds on board and thus were able to explore the ship and do mini golf. We gambled black Jack and Cash crane game and lost money but not too much. Dinner at Carnivale dining room was great with many different selection of menu items. We were able to order multiple appetizers, main course, and dessert. The service from dining staff was fabulous which included the dancing entertainment. We enjoyed playing Carnival Tower with large Jenga pieces and large dice. The nightly entertainment was great. The main shows (Studio VIP, and other shows) at Paris Lounge was spectacular. The Punchliner Comedy club was good although we sometimes could not understand or hear John Caponera jokes because he talked a bit fast. Jamie Lissow was geat comedian. I waited in line to get sandwich at Carnival Deli just before closing at 11pm and without the deli cook saying anything, he closed up area and then left which was very rude. I should have complained to his manager. We paid Wifi Internet Online Value Plan and first 2 days was just ok but the 3rd and 4th day was horrible and useless. We complained at Guest service on last evening at Guest Services and they were nice enough to refund the $41 Wifi charge to my CC since it was pre-paid. We went to Art auction and won a raffle for a choice of 1 of 4 different pieces of art prints but had to pay $35 shipping which was ridiculously expensive. We then made the mistake of purchasing a Thomas Kinkade art print for $200 which was overpriced after returning home and researching it. We could not research Park West Gallery's negative review while on board because of the bad wifi. The day we debarked, I tried to call Park West customer service to cancel this order but gave up after waiting an hour on the phone. It's ridiculous to pay 15% cancellation fee. They better not charge 15% cancellation fee on $35 shipping charge. The next day, I called again and waited for almost an hour to talk to a customer service rep but she was unable to find my invoice # and stated to call back again a few days later but I was never able to speak to a customer service representative again because of the very long wait on the phone. I also emailed their customer service email but never received response. Only after posting negative Yelp review did I get a response to send email to a different Park West customer service email address to which they finally responded stating they will cancel my invoice and process refund through Carnival. But a few days later, I got email stating that my order is being processed. I will now dispute the original Carnival cruise charge on my credit card. My wife paid $33.50 for 2 yoga classes and 1 Pilate class. The Carnival Fun Times showed the Yoga classes but not show the Pilate thus she missed Pilate class. We tried to explain to the Spa manager that they need to include Pilate class on Carnival Fun Times like Yoga classes but she blamed Carnival management. My wife spoke to Carnival manager who then blamed Spa manager for not telling Carnival to include Pilate class. This was disappointing to see both parties blame each other at the expense of us paying for service we did not receive. We will never attend Carnival spa ever again. We should have asked for a refund. Read Less

Some games or more theatre activities. Food and staff were good. I would suggest if they can also give some souvainer for remembreace after cruise specially to small kids. Entertainment . It was boring after 2 days specially there are not much entertainment. I would suggest do not go with high hopes. If you are going only for food then you will not get disappointed. We buy Wi-Fi plan for our phone and it was hardly working very difficult to check social sites. Also there are some hidden cost involved like water and soda are not free. Overall it was fun for 3 days cruise. If you want to have more fun then go with family and friends to have more fun. Read Less
