I have just read Grahambythesea blog, and agree very much with his review. I expected a high class standard of service, I gave had better !! We went for the formal dining. On the first night we were pushed into a small back dining area, no atmosphere and very draughty. We asked to be moved which was great, but the service was dreadful. On more than one occasion the waiter started to clear plates away before other quests on the table had finished, we had to tell them twice about it. Customer service was appalling. Trying to get a taxi booked from the ship was impossible. We were told to go to the info desk on the port. Anyone who has been to Dubai will know this is the biggest port in the world, it is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Entertainment on board was below par, apart from a couple of acts Not going to Aquaba was the biggest disappointment,I am sure the delay outside the Suez cauld have been avoided. Chipped cups and lack of clean cutlery in theKings Court. Won't be doing this again in a hurry Read Less

We were very much looking forward to our cruise from Southampton to Dubai, via the Mediterranean and Suez Canal. Ship was great, food and staff very good. However, due to dredging in the Suez Canal we waited for 18 hours before being allowed to enter, then we transmitted the canal completely through the night in the dark! This was obviously completely out of the captains control admittedly, but a further blow was, due to the delay, we did not have time to visit Aqaba, where we had booked a trip to Petra. This meant 10 days at sea continuously which was awful. Admittedly staff worked hard with the entertainment programme, which was difficult as the Entertainers had also got stuck on the ship, as the changeover had not occurred in Aqaba. We paid a lot of money for this cruise, and feel that Cunard failed to deliver the cruise thar we booked. Many passengers on the return flight were in agreement with this. Read Less

What a lovely way to spend Christmas and New Year's Eve. Out first time with Cunard but definitely will not be the last. The ship is magnificent, (bit warn in places) stateroom more than adequate and we found the staff to always be pleasant and more than helpful. Dining room experience was up and down but fortunately we shared a table with excellent company which took away from the pain of poor service. Did not see any of the artists or night time entertainment as we thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment in the Golden Lion and ballroom. Pub lunches were excellent as were the trivia quizzes. Excursions are overpriced and we did the snorkelling with the turtles in Barbados which we were very disappointed with. I may be bias having spent many years living in the U.K. But this trip is high on my list of very memorable holidays. Read Less

We have taken several cruises on Oceania, Celebrity, and on Cunard's Queen Victoria. This was our favorite in many ways. Though it's hard to top Oceania for food, we had excellent meals at all times on the Queen Elizabeth. Service was also outstanding, in the restaurants, from our cabin steward, and at the main desk. We never passed anyone who didn't greet us in eleven days. The itinerary could not have been better for us. Though we have lived and worked in Europe and traveled a good deal, there were several stops at places we've never been. The two ship excursions we took, in Barcelona and in Lisbon, were outstanding. In Livorno we rented a car and drove to Vinci which is one of our favorite places in Tuscany. Specific to us, midway through the trip we learned of my husband's brother's death. The staff on board could not have been more helpful. They allowed him to use the ship's phone for a good many calls without any charge, and were extremely kind in all instances. We were very impressed with the gorgeous Christmas decorations on board. The ship is beautiful and spotless, and we will be looking toward Cunard in the future.   Read Less

We have just spent 11 nights on the Queen Elizabeth in cabin 8174.Firstly we wish to point out this we considered this cruise superb value for money and the comments below are just points where we think there could be improvements. Our cabin was below the lido outdoor deck area.Although there was little activity in this area we experienced heavy footsteps early most mornings. It appeared to be one particular crew member(an officer)who did not wear deck shoes. We mentioned the problem to the Pursers desk and asked them to contact the area responsible but they said they couldn't and we would have to contact them when the event actually happened i.e. we needed to get out of bed at 5.15am to tell them !!!!....they thought this was an adequate response. Other minor niggles included the TV sailing chart & details beeing constantly wrong.I don't think it had the departure time of any port corresponding to the time show in the ships daily newspaper. It also showed the time to Oporto when the post had been missed and we were on our way to Vigo.Incidentally the Captain made one announcement that we were not visiting Oporto, which we and many others missed. The ships newspaper arrived that night to tell us that we were in Vigo but no mention of why we were not in Oporto? The daily ships newspaper was a constant source of enjoyment to spot the mistakes!!! We apparently had a sailaway from Bodrum when we left Lisbon...Champagne was spelt Champain.........the Cruise Questionnaire prize draw was showing to be held on the EVENING we arrived in Southampton.Just a few too many errors which were not spotted before the newspaper was issued to passengers. To end, we do wish to say we enjoyed the cruise and,as I said,it was superb value for money but just lacking that final piece of management   Read Less

Our on board experience was a huge disappointment and afar cry from their adverts and brochures. Indeed even a far cry from past on board experiences. The ship looked badly worn and neglected, especially carpets and furniture. Sewerage smells seem a recurring problem. Service in the Britannia Restaurant was below standard. Service was very slow and meals took over 2 hours from start to finish with long gaps during which they tried to keep diners happy with endless bread rolls. The dress code was not enforce and at night we encountered many passnegers who dressed like from a Council Estate. Staff appeared demotivated and and in a bad mood. Ship felt like Titanic. A museum piece rather than a luxury vessel. Please don't waste your money on Cunard. Try Celebrity Cruises instead if you are looking for a luxurios experience. Read Less

Ah yes, the romance of a TA crossing. DW had done 5. I only 2.  Neither never on Cunard, and QM2 the largest ship for both. Impressions? Ship felt crowded, especially Queens Room, Chart Room, and Golden Lion.  Sometimes nowhere to sit, though kind guests often made room. Gale force 9 four of seven days. Loved it. Staff competent and helpful. Ship in good shape. Mostly excellent lectures. Niggles: no complementary single malt permitted, according to our Queens Grill butler. Cheap. Our butler just average--often rushed and mechanical. We asked about caviar canapé, told those were the "deluxe" and had to be asked for especially. We did. They arrived. Again, cheap. Restaurant ok, sometimes fine, our server in particular. Mixed experience ordering off menu: excellent sweetbreads, soso carpaccio, disastrous duck. Well-priced wine list. Professional if rather oily maïtre d', Osman. (Remarkable efforts by all when a guest at a nearby table died.) We enjoyed the crossing, especially the wintry weather and many fellow passengers. The shows of little interest and on-board bands just average. We'd done a couple crossings with Crystal: 10 out of 10. QM2: 7 out of 10. Read Less
