Pretty calm in the Bay of Biscay

Review for a Spain Cruise on Queen Victoria

After a slightly stressful summer holiday we booked this 10 night cruise for a relaxing time and to try out Cunard. Embarkation at Southampton was easy and we were on board in time for lunch in the golden lion pub. We were incredibly lucky with the weather as for the whole cruise the seas were fairly calm, for November and December in the bay of biscay and near Portugal and southern ...

If you want thumping and noise coming from the deck above, choose cabin 11110

What a horrible location. I have sailed on QM2 many many times and usually ask for a balcony cabin in the Forward Section of the ship. This time however I wasn't so picky and 11110 was my assigned balcony cabin. From the second night to the second to last (12 nites), the maintenance staff was doing work on the deck above me. Right above my cabin. The knocking and banging and dragging of deck ...

Relaxing but sedate

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Queen Elizabeth

We chose this cruise as a relaxing way to get home from South Africa. The ship gave a grand impression with wood paneling a feature. It appeared well maintained. For those who get sea sick, there was quite a bit of movement, even in relatively calm seas. We had a balcony cabin, we started in 5137- midship. This cabin had a tender boat directly underneath it , which obstructed our view ...

We chose this cruise as a toe in the water before booking the transatlantic cruise. It was a complete disappointment, things we didn’t consider or were misinformed about by the Cunard booking line...no planetarium, the iconic afternoon tea, only on the second day despite boarding a 1pm and it was a “bun fight”, first come first served. You have to find your own seats, this encouraged a sharp ...

Bucket List Northern Lights Trip

Bucket list cruise to see Northern Lights. We were very fortunate that we did indeed see this spectacle as it is by no means a certainty. The days we were there the probablity was good at 30% ! We saw them on one of our trips out (ships topur from Tromso) , saw them from the deck in Tromso but no one saw them in Narvik (we went on pre-booked independent trip booked online in the uk before we ...

Never Again

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

The transatlantic crossing was part of a two ship round trip to USA, Bermuda and Bahamas. The first part was a faultless sailing on Celebrity Silhouette. All the crew were welcoming and friendly. so good I am going again with Celebrity next Year. Then what a change. The crew on Queen Mary could barely look at anyone. The captain was most unwelcoming and it filtered down from there. The ...

Never again on Cunard

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Queen Victoria

Cruise to Canaries for winter sun, spoilt by below average food. We cruised on Cunard 5 times, two on Queen Elizabeth, One on Queen Mary and Two on Queen Victoria. The last on Queen Victoria and never again. We have cruised many times mostly with Oceania and Regent Seven Seas. Our last two cruises have been with Cunard on Queen Victoria in a Princess grill suite and MSC Bellissima in ...

Transatlantic in November, from Southampton to NY and back. Return leg coincided with Literature Festival at sea, which made the ship much busier and removed many of the more usual enhancement events including the Planetarium. Mostly a good experience - food, entertainment, service, ship, stateroom, embarkation, library, bars, afternoon tea etc all of a very high standard. Staff almost always ...

An Iconic trip but a 4 star ship

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

We took this trip as part of our anniversary celebrations and it didn’t disappoint. Embarkation at Southampton was extremely smooth with the time taken from train station to cabin just over half an hour. Our first meal in the buffet restaurant was OK although getting a table was more difficult than usual as its the only facility open on embarkation day. We had been recommended the Britannia Club ...

Travelling Solo

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Queen Elizabeth

I chose this cruise because it was taking the route which I did with my family (husband and three daughters ) forty five years ago when we emigrated to Australia. A sentimental journey .I flew from Perth Australia, stayed two nights in London and then was driven to Southampton where I boarded the Queen Elizabeth. As a solo traveller this was done independently and paid for separately. This ...
