It has now been almost 3 weeks since disembarking from the QM2 and frankly I cannot wait to get back on the ship! Prior to this voyage I had never travelled via ship, I had always taken a flight but in 2019 I decided to try something new and book myself on a cruise ship and having completed extensive research on the subject I decided to do a transatlantic crossing on board the QM2(I know it's ...

We returned home yesterday from QE voyage Southampton to San Francisco and had a wonderful time aboard. On arriving in Southampton at 12.15 as requested we were surprised by the number of passengers waiting for Covid testing. Obvious the stated time was not adhered to. However we were onboard and having lunch in the restaurant by 1.45pm. We were in Grills and had a lovely suite, plenty of ...

Special birthday cruise with Cunard in the middle of May 2022 was the reason for this cruise plus it seemed good value as it was a re positioning journey finally ending in Alaska. We had a good ball cabin kept immaculate by our excellent steward and took dinner at 8.30 (a bit late for us).All meals were excellent as per usual.Vegetables are never cooked enough though making them too inedible for ...

A Cautionary Tale

Recently my wife and I took a 28-day cruise from Southampton to San Francisco. Covid-19 dogged the entire 9,615 nautical miles of the voyage. Our troubles began even before we boarded Queen Elizabeth. Cunard demanded a certified negative antigen test dated no more than 24 hours before boarding. That meant finding a provider open on a Sunday – which we did eventually at a cost of £70. Not once ...

We chose this cruise because although we had sailed QM2 several times Transatlantic, we had never been on the QE. The dates fit our schedule—sail the QM2 over to Southampton, a week in England and sail the QE back Southampton to Fort Lauderdale. Our leg was the beginning of the QE’s longer leg, she will be sailing over a month, all the way to Alaska. My observations: Embarkation in Southampton ...

Rather Dull and tired.

Embarkation at new York was a nightmare staff faffing around not having a clue what they were doing approx 2 hrs of queing only to line up to queue again. Ship looks dull and dated not at all glamourous like going into an English town hall back in 1950 Food in main resturant was ok nothing special imo Food in buffet was good choice and better quality although the constant masks on/off ...

I've sailed on Cunard many times and QM2 is a favorite ship, as is the crossing. An offer that was too good to pass up arrived in my in-box (for a single cabin!!) and I booked this crossing one month before departure. Embarkation in Brooklyn was very quick for me (on the ship 30 minutes after arriving at the terminal). This is why I was able to get through quickly: I read all the directions ...

FULL of COVID

The first part of the cruise, Southampton to San Francisco in my case, was fine although there being only about 1300 passengers it was rather lifeless. The second part on entry to the Pacific was a disaster. Before reaching Manzanillo in Mexico the ship was rife with Covid. Both myself and wife were isolated in a state room reportedly with another 300 people supposedly. Whether one or two ...

Don't walk, RUN away from Cunard !

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

I don't know the words that would be strong enough, to express how dissatisfied and upset we are with this cruise line. The title of this review ("Don't walk, RUN away from Cunard") is not an exaggeration. We have been on many different lines, and were so looking forward to cruising with Cunard. Yet despite the hype around how Cunard is excellent It was our worst experience cruising in over ...
