This was our first cruise, ever, and chose QM2 for several reasons: a transatlantic, felt it was worthy of a 45th wedding anniversary, formal nights, and reputation as an elegant ship. We were pleased and elated at every aspect. Service was first class, food was excellent and well presented, cabin was spacious with plenty of storage, comfortable bed, accommodating steward, interesting ...
Greek Isles Cruise 5th-22nd July 2016
Ship
This was our fifth cruise with Cunard but the first on Queen Elizabeth. However as we have sailed on Queen Victoria on two previous occasions, we found the ship layout very familiar/almost identical.
Departure City
We usually sail from Southampton as there are no issues with luggage. Southampton has good hotels and obviously caters well for ...
The Greeks gave us both comedy and tragedy, this cruise also delivered both.
The ship
Unlike the Queen Mary, this is a Cruise ship and NOT a liner, having said that the words wow and awesome were not far away.
Accommodation
Normally I travel on the Queen Mary but this time I was on the Queen Elizabeth. Embarkation was quick and efficient, and I was soon installed in my Princess ...
We are cruisers of some 21 years now. We have cruised on many Carnival Corporation lines over 31 cruises. We last cruised on Elizabeth three years ago.
The ship is really lovely and is kept in tip top condition. We had 7 ports of call including Athens, Kusadasi and Mykonos. The weather was perfect and we were lucky to get into Kusadasi as the next day they had their military unrest. We met ...
this cruise was very disappointing as it was difficult to get around due to the heavy doors on the ship I unable to get out of my cabin my husband had open the door. The garden room was difficult to leave there was a heavy door before the automatic door
As many of the passengers were in the 60/80 age range I was the surprised that the unheated pool did not have graduated steps I could not ...
Drove down to Souhampton from London and used CPS for parking in the docks. As usual, it was very efficient, although quite expensive. We had a Princess Grill cabin which was as expected with plenty of wardrobe space and drawers. The service and food in the Princesss Grill was first class with nothing being too much trouble - the word 'no' didnt crop up once. The sommelier was also excellent and ...
The Cunard liners are the only liners we travel on. They are of consistently of a very high standard. The accommodation in Queens grill suites is excellent with a fully stocked free in room bar.
The grill dining room and lounge are very comfortable with excellent food and service.
Entertainment is usually very good with great shows in a magnificent theatre.
Overall I can find nothing bad ...
Our third trip on this fabulous ship, and travelling in Queens Grill is just the best. With a concierge and butler to help with any request, free alcohol of our choice in room ( wine, spirits, beer etc) canopes each evening, we felt very spoiled.
Dinner in the Queens Grill is a wonderful experience, with the best staff and food. Leave your diet at home and indulge for a few weeks for an ...
Embarkation was a nightmare. Waited well over an hour in a hot terminal with minimal attention and supervision by Cunard who only cared about their status customers.
The published itinerary was misleading; stated that we would be in Boston on July 4 & 5 but we had to be back on the ship by 11:45pm on July 4 and the ship left the dock at 12:15am on the 5th. We went to the Pursers Office to speak ...
QM2 NYC-Halifax-Boston July 4th 5 nights. Splurged on a Queens Grills stateroom.
Liked:
-Spacious stateroom with luxurious furnishings.
-Butler who brought breakfast, canapes daily.
-Intimate Queens Grills dining - they still flambe table side - chateaubriand, duck a l'orange. Variety great, service attentive. Your table is always reserved for you.
