With the assistance of our Travel Agent, we chose this cruise because of its value to length ratio. Where else could you get 12 nights in Alaska for such great prices. As I elaborate on the experience, keep in mind that our views and experiences are influenced by a large number of previous cruises on Princess, Holland America and others. This was our first time on Cunard--therefore we have zero ...
I always choose Cunard for their high standards of service and overall relaxing and quality experience. This one, a trip from Vancouver to Alaska generally followed that trend. There were a few things that we particularly loved and some that were not quite up to scratch...
The headline guest for the first few days was Bear Grylls-well what a disappointment. He did a couple of presentations ...
Trip 12 days Norway - not fjords as advertised as we skirted the coast.
Pros: First time on Cunard and personally we loved the actual ship and the crew. Our steward was very attentive, nothing was a problem, thank you John. The staff in the dining room and Lido also very attentive and polite. We only took in one show which was very enjoyable. Lovely string trio. Food was in abundance. Only ...
We chose this 7night cruise on QM2 in June to visit the Briksdal glacier at Olden, Norway.
Embarkation.
We stayed overnight at a hotel in Eastleigh prior to embarkation day. The taxi dropped us off at Southampton Mayflower cruise terminal and we deposited our luggage at the suitcase pod outside and went straight in. We sailed through registration immediately, directed by smiling staff, and ...
(Note: The headings in this review will be lines from this old Cunard travel film from the 1950s, "Getting there is half the fun", about a voyage on the original Queen Mary/Queen Elizabeth. Well worth a watch! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utH65UZ7w_w)
Do you need or want to get to Europe or the United States? Does the idea of putting on a tuxedo fill you with excitement? Do you like perfect ...
I was unfortunately quarantined with Covid for the middle six days of this cruise, and therefore had not intended to write a review, because my impressions would be at best partial. Nonetheless I am doing so because my perceptions are at variance with some of the more negative comments in other reviews, and I felt there should be some balance.
So, the good points.
Firstly, universally, the ...
We have a bucket list, nothing like going to Mars just a must do before the big one hits..Four of many things on it, eat sushi in Japan see Tokyo, find a reason to buy a Tux and cross the Pacific in style. While let me tell you, Cunard's Tokyo to Vancouver cruise was everything we hoped it could be an more. A beautiful ship kept spotlessly clean by hard working very pleasant staff. This is not a ...
We don't fly so the QM2 is our way to return from Europe. This is the first time we have sailed with Cunard and I was very disappointed. First, the good parts, our cabin was very nice. We choose an inside cabin to try and settle our seasickness. We have a balcony cabin with NCL on the way over. The ship was clean and tidy.
The bad, food selection was not good. The same kinds of food ...
We've sailed on Cunard and the QM2 16 times, mostly ocean crossings, and have enjoyed 39 cruises overall. We love the QM2 because of unique ocean liner status, the gorgeous public rooms, and the scheduled Atlantic crossings. We completed 2 other crossings since Covid and were concerned with all sorts of problems that had cropped up such as untrained staff and broken equipment. But for this ...
We have sailed on 15+ voyages. We have sailed on Premium lines such as Celebrity, Princess, Holland America and now Cunard, we have sailed on a specialty brand, Star Clippers and Luxury brands, Crystal and Azamara, we are not new to sailing. I had a bucket list item to take a Transatlantic on a Cunard ship for over 40 years. I was diagnosed with stage four cancer, and realized, if I did not do ...
